there will be a map rework with this midchapter update, i am sincerely hoping its Haddonfield...

I mean, haddonfield is the only one that sorely needs it (aside from maybe crotus penn?)...I would assume it is Haddonfield. But this is BHVR, they are probably reworking Shelter Woods, lol

At rank 1 as a survivor I expect to deal with long queue times, OP addons, going against Spirit every few games, what I don't expect to deal with are campers and tunnelers . I expect campers and tunnelers at rank 15, as they don't know any better.

While my motto that it's not killers job to make the game fun for survivors (and vice versa), if a killer wants to play basement camping Leatherface, he's in the right to as it's his choice. But last night nearly every game the killer chose to play toxic. I could understand matchmaking putting me in one or two lobbies of toxic killers, but last night matchmaking kept putting me in lobbies where the killer wanted to play like an arse.

Examples of the games I had, was a rank 2 pig camping with an ebony mori, a P3 Trapper that decided to face-camp despite us having a disconnect making it a 3v1, and a lag switching trapper (On PS4 we don't have dedicated servers yet).

Just to sum it up, my favourite game of last night was against a P3 Spirit.

The only benefit of playing at rank 1 is that normally you'll be going against good/decent and challenging killers, it's rewarding when you're able to juke and loop long for a long period of time.

EDIT: Before I get comment saying it's another post by survivor who is complaining about being camped, for the majority of the toxic killer games, I was actually playing well and was not personally on the receiving end of being the one being camped.

Camping, tunneling and mori's, while not necessarily the most fun to go against (if you take the game that seriously) are 100% NOT toxic. Toxic is an attitude and mindset. Not a playstyle. That's like saying throwing down a pallet and stunning a killer is toxic.

No. All their marketing is around killer. Survivors are just reskins.

If you think they look after survivors over killer then I have a bridge to sell you.

Ladies and gentlemen - right here is what we call "entitlement".

  • This is all just a case of a killer releasing that actually is the power role in the game, and survivors don't like actually being put into the role as someone trying to survive.

Adapt, people. He's not hard to go against.

Yes but no fun..and not a lot of skill involved. That's why it is hard to pip now. Cause they trying to promote more fun game play

I mean, generally losing isn't fun. It's part of life, whether that be in a video game or in a real sport.

If you're playing football, and the other team is beating you badly, are you going to ask them to nerf the other team, or change their perfectly legitimate play style? BHVR, in the DBD instructional video, promotes camping as the more or less intended way to play, if you want to be technical.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

I hardly ever see moris too.

But they do need some work.

No, they really don't. You guys need to stop trying to nerf everything into the ground. There is such a thing as *TOO BALANCED*, and game that is too balanced is boring as hell. It's just a game. Stop trying to make it boring.

People with your mindsets designed Hide or Die.

  • I'd say this is the real problem here. What it takes to get a pip, or even black pip at red ranks is nonsense for killer. I really miss the old killer victory cube sometimes.

Both of which are legitimate tactics with legitimate counters in the form of perks.

Just a reminder, that the Nurse is still awful to play, her skill cap instead being replaced by a forced mechanic that makes skill worthless in some scenarios. You basically lose on any map like Hawkins, as her power is now extremely counterable there.

Honestly, maybe if they rework maps they can bring bl back. Who knows!? I just want my girl fixed. I don't even need OLD base Nurse. I just need something fun again.

I mean, people who are actually good at nurse are (wait for it, this is going to blow your mind)...still good at nurse. Maybe you relied too much on certain elements of her. She's actually in a pretty good place now.

  • Change it to mouse wheel up or something like that if you're on PC. If you're on console I can't really give any advice.

I guess you can't account for forgetting that the packets before the dc can be seen, sometimes there is an instability (higher pings etc) as well as other information that is available when you look at things from more than only the point of disconnect. sure if you look at the packet where the dc occurred, then you can't tell CRAP. but if you look at more than just that packet you can see what was going on. if you're a network engineer you know that you can't just use black and white and a single packet to know the whole damn story. if there were instabilities then it probably wasn't intentional, if none exist then well it was intentional or 95% chance of that. ALL DC's should be investigated, and punished but if there are instabilities then they should be removed from the ledger for the longer and more progressive penalties

Instability and things happen, yes; but there are many cases when connections that are completely consistent just drop, or have off days. Consistent packet loss doesn't necessarily occur. Sometimes, connections just drop with no indication that it would happen. Sometimes, equipment just die, nodes just kick the bucket etc. It happens. That's why I use the word "certainty". There is no way to have definite conclusion on who pulls the cord and who doesn't without physically seeing them do it.

On what grounds are you accusing them of lying? Because your own games play out differently?

Just because they haven't had the same experience as you doesn't make theirs any less valid, and it certainly doesn't give you the right to insult them on the basis of mere speculation.

Statistical probability. How probable is it that this person is getting camped "literally every game, and it has happened 35 times in a row", while, quite frankly, that is more than likely (even then, I'd say its nigh impossible) not happening to everyone else. I accuse them based on pure logic and rationality alone. It's not a matter of comparing my games to his, it's a matter of his claims being outlandish enough to make the accusation necessary.

What is probably happening is either:

    1. They're doing something to warrant that treatment, whether it's being toxic or attempting to bully the killer.
    2. They have a grossly skewed idea of what camping actually is.
    3. They're facing literally the same killer over and over again and camping just happens to be how they play.
    4. They are flat out lying to either try and get sympathy or attempt to get attention.

Either way - yes, camping exists. No, it doesn't happen on THAT outlandish of a scale (except for events, for some reason, it can get pretty bad). In ANY CASE, camping is a legitimate playstyle. The DBD instructional videos from BHVR themselves even promote it as such. There's even a perk made for it (Insidious). But there is NO WAY in hell it's happening that much to him without one of the reasons stated above being the case.

Quite the contrary, sir. If you are getting camped "literally every game" as you ridiculously claim, there's clearly something wrong with you. You're not telling us the whole story.

  • That was nothing more than an unlucky rubber band. Which is a byproduct of all game servers, P2P or Dedicated.

  • All queues are taking forever. Survivor queues at brown, yellow, green, purple and red ranks, same with killers. BHVR BHVR'd us all.

If you are not being camped, you're very lucky, but I died above 35 times in a row, almost 15 times by campers 16 by tunnelers and the rest by both. And what situations? Healing and repairing? The killers are broken.

I'm going to straight up call you a liar, then. You're either blatantly lying about being camped every game, or there's more to this than you're letting on and you're literally doing something that deserves the camp.

I have been camped once in about the last week - and it was an insidious Bubba (which is kind of what he's made for and I totally respect it).

  • @RakNieborakYT said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/902607#Comment_902607

But when I'm like almost 30 meters away from hook totally undetected they find me and camp me and then tunnel me every time. This happens every time, perks don't work and the weakest killer becomes much stronger than surv with good perks.

It doesn't happen every time. Stop exaggerating. If it really is happening every time...well, judging by the fact that it's not happening to everyone else "every time", you've clearly done something for them to want you dead enough to camp you.

  • Don't get caught, then.

And before you say anything - yes, not getting caught is fairly easy, being that DBD is extremely survivor sided.

  • Ha. All this complaining. I main Wraith at red ranks. Can't win em all, but I'm still at red ranks, so obviously I win most.

  • I mean, it's a legitimate strategy if you have a mori to eliminate someone quick.

  • @Mert_MK said:

Tunneling is bad for the game as well.

DS can stay the way it is.

As someone who enjoys killer much more than survivor, I actually have to agree with this. Winning without tunneling is completely doable, even at red ranks. If you get your rocks off from making someone else miserable and tunneling them, you're toxic.

  • @Peanits said:

    No, that's detected as well.

As a networking engineer I am going to have to call massive shenanigans on that statement. All due respect, don't insult our intelligence. BHVR already does that far too much.

I mean, of course you can detect them, but detecting it when done on purpose vs. when it's a legitimate connection issue with complete certainty and zero guessing is next to impossible. You could in theory gather statistical data on where and when these "loss of connections" happen and when connections are restored to try and theoretically find out which ones were likely on purpose, but you're not detecting anything of certainty, and as terrible as pulling the cord is, it would be unethical to issue punishments or bans on anything but certainties.

But who am I kidding, with BHVR's priorities in DBD being to exploit customers with cosmetics vs. actually fixing things in the game that have been broken forever, I don't know if I'd trust them to be ethical in any sense of the word.

  • Trapper. I don't know why.

I can loop and juke Spirits and Nurses..but the Trapper is my kryptonite. I guess it's not that I find him difficult, I just hate having to stare at the ground all game.

  • Joke thread.

Like ya its cool yall made it so we arent allowed to play a game when someone disconnects in loading (like nothings more fun than waiting in a loading screen for 5 minutes just to be kicked as soon as the game loads amiright) but can you do something about people who give up or DC in game? like when people get hooked within a minute of the game starting and kill themselves and its basically a full game with 3 survivors but were stuck and probably depip and whatnot.

Like if theres a DC within the first couple minutes or a death within the first 60 or 120 seconds or something can there be a surrender vote or like we automatically cant depip/dont lose items and addons

just something to make it feel like we didnt waste our addons/items or lose pips on a game we couldnt win because of something out of our control

Clearly this is more for lower ranks cause high ranks can hold their own in a 3v1 and also usually wont kill themselves on first hook but I still think it would be an improvement

There are no rules against giving up and suicide on hook, and there never will be. It's a perfectly legitimate way to leave the game; and no, this isn't Surrender by Daylight. It's Dead by Daylight. If you don't want to be in the game after someone dies, quite simply go die.

  • I'm a bit late to the party here...but "another" overpowered killer? When's the last time a released killer was overpowered (that's assuming this one even is, since Oni can be looped like any other killer)?

He may have a bit too much control during his dash, but at the same time it's easy enough to dodge it. Don't put yourself in a situation where it will work.

Oh yea no doubt about that

Most of the time i can clearly tell it's a swf, but other times I can't tell a it's a swf, it all depends of how they play for me to assume

You also have to keep in mind, the game has been out nearly 4 years. A natural progression of the playerbase, especially at green, purple and red ranks is going to be tighter coordination and general awareness regardless of if they are playing with friends or not. Does it even further expose the balance issues? Yes. Does it make it easy to assume someone is SWF? Yes. Are they SWF? Debatable.

  • @altruistic said:

DC system isn’t live, and “it’s okay to disconnect as long as it isn’t excessive.”

Issue is, the bug is happening at a frequency that could make your DC's seem excessive.

And BHVR hasn't said a word about it.

As @SnakeSound222 stated, they never banned for the Wake Up Bug. They did however state they would and probably banned for the Legion Bug. But that bug had a notice in the news when launching the game.

Neither the Wake Up nor the Basement Bug has no such notice, so it's safe to assume they wont ban people for this bug.

My mistake there - either way, there are people doing it on purpose. People running odd killers like Huntress, or Legion and going out of their way to hook people in the basement. Like, who runs iron grasp and agi on Huntress and Legion? Don't tell me they don't know exactly what they are doing.

Private profiles themselves seem to be viewed as a SWF indicator by a lot of people. Even though I'm pretty sure some degree of privacy is the default setting for Steam profiles ever since they introduced the Public/Friends Only/Private system for various profile elements.

    Pretty much, yeah.

They act as if people private their profiles for the pure sake of playing SWF in DBD. When in reality, not only is it the default Steam configuration, but when it's done manually, it's because their info is really none of anyone's business. Complaining that players private their profiles is like complaining that you don't have their online banking password.

  • @Thatbrownmonster said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/891010#Comment_891010

All my expriences with swfs are negative, and I can understand op over this

A swf can abuse a killer if they want since they are all connected in a game where they shouldn't

Do you know for sure they are SWF all the time?

I solo most of the time, and killers blame SWF I'd say more than 60% of the time when they lose. Even if everyone has private profiles and shows no signs of actually being in an SWF.

I think sometimes they just try and justify when they do poorly. I'm not saying SWF isn't powerful - but sometimes you just lose.

  • This is Dead by Daylight...do you really want to talk about what is and isn't physically possible?

  • Because it's fun to play with your friends. You act as if only SWF players are toxic. This is not the case.

  • @underlord99 said:

I feel like it will be pretty hard to figure out who is intentionally doing it and who isnt .

That's BS. They were banning people who abused wake up and the Legion infinite mend bug. They can figure this out just the same.

  • I mean, there are reasons. Not that you'll particularly like them, but they're there.

  • Unnecessary.

There IS such thing as too balanced; and too balanced is boring.

  • I just want a Ted Cruz: The Zodiac chapter.

  • Why is this still a debate? There's nothing wrong with having a few OP items/abilities on both sides. They aren't happening every game on either side, and in general they exist purely for fun. This isn't a competitive game and shouldn't be treated like one.

Stop trying to get every little fun thing nerfed, and just have fun. It's just a game, kiddos.

I swear, this community won't stop until survivors have no legs, and killers have no means of attack. Just chill, spark up, relax, and play the game.

  • @terumisan said:

not really in your original comment you shifted the blame on killers while not equally reprimanding survivors also suvivors inherently dc more because there are more survivors than killers

It wasn't shifting blame. In order to do that I would have had to deliberately dismiss the original statement against survivors, which I did not. It was a point of comparison.

You can't just say 'survivors DC more because there's more of them'. You have to make that distinction proportionately. Proportionately it would be about the same.

  • @terumisan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/648110#Comment_648110

Yea but double standards and hypocrisy is common survivors will dc because of certain killers, being found first, certain add-ons ext

Killers generally dc because certain maps, ruin being going within 30 seconds or gens being done too fast

You're more or less proving my point - both killers and survivors DC for stupid reasons, so threads like this look equally as stupid.

  • Wraith. Billy is a close second.

  • While that is true, the amount of killers who DC on Haddonfield is far more frequent. I get why, don't get me wrong, but it's like the pot calling the kettle black.

  • @fahad0595 said:

i know how to fix .. it is easy and simple. JUST DONT USE A MORI

    Mori's are fun, though.

  • I think when killers stop DCing on certain maps, they can complain about survivors DCing with a Mori.

  • I think the perks are pretty decent. They aren't S rank or god tier, and likely won't be meta perks, but they aren't terrible.
