A Small Change to Moris and Keys

No Survivors like Memento Moris. No Killers like keys. It's pretty obvious that both of these things are very harmful to the health of the game, as they don't encourage skillful gameplay like the current game wants to do. So, I have a proposal for a change to these two doohickeys here. The key one is the bigger change, for sure.

Memento Mori

  • In order to use Ivory and Ebony Memento Moris, new conditions must be met.
  • To begin killing, ALL survivors must have been hooked at least once. From there, the Killer can choose which Survivor they would like to kill first (Ivory); OR they can begin their rampage (Ebony). With this change, it means that Killers can't just tunnel the Survivor off of a hook and kill them like that. If one member of the team is to go down, the entire team must be weakened first.
  • Lastly, in order to perform the kill, the Survivor must be picked up and carried to a nearby hook and dropped near it. About 16 meters should do it. This way, it gives other Survivors a chance to save their friend from being removed from the game early(DS, Flashlights, etc.). When the downed Survivor is close enough to the hook, they may be killed.
  • When a Survivor is killed in this manner, their corpse may be picked up and placed on the hook, skipping the second phase completely and instantly sacrificing the Survivor while also rewarding the same(if not more) bloodpoints as if it were a normal sacrifice.

Keys

  • In order to use either a Dull or Skeleton Key, the holder must play carefully to not lose it.
  • The Key is always bonded to the key-holder, meaning that its power can only be used in the hands of the holder. When any Survivor holding the Key is hit by the Killer, then they will drop the Key without losing any of its durability(unless the Killer is using Franklin's Demise). The aura of the Key will always be revealed to the owner if it is on the ground. When another Survivor picks up the Key, the owner's aura will be revealed to them at all times. In the hands of another Survivor, the Key cannot open the hatch nor can the mind channel be accessed.
  • Returning the Key to the original owner will grant bloodpoints in the Boldness category.
  • When the Hatch is available, it can be opened by the Key's owner. This features a new animation of the Survivor unlocking the Hatch, which takes about 5 seconds. This animation can be cancelled, but no progress will be saved. While the Survivor opens the Hatch, they can be grabbed by the Killer. When the Hatch is opened, the Survivor who unlocked it will jump in immediately.
  • Certain add-ons for the Key can instantly open the Hatch or prevent the Key from being dropped. These add-ons will be Ultra Rare.
  • QoL Change: The Killer can always grab Survivors that are jumping into the Hatch.

And that's that. Hopefully this helps a bit.

The key idea is pretty neat but it would encourage tunneling the "key holder" so that is a potential problem. The other issue would be "troll" players who won't give the key back even if they cannot use it.

The issue with the Mori is that if you have to carry a survivor close to a hook and drop them they may simply escape. Remember that each time you drop a survivor nearly 33% of the wiggle bar is instantly filled and if less or equal that amount was remaining on the wiggle bar then they instantly jump off when trying to drop.

I honestly think the only Mori change that needs to happen is no more Ebony. I don't find Ivory a huge issue especially with the change you suggested with everyone needing 1 hook.

Overall I think these ideas sound interesting and it would be fun to experiment with them were it ever possible they made it to a PTB.

Edit: Sorry I "quoted/tagged" the wrong person ^.^''

Sorry I didn’t reply earlier. I saw your post too.

For the key, I was thinking of much simpler idea, but then that came so I decided to go with it. My original plan was to add the opening animation where Killers can grab them. Also, any Survivors holding a key will drop it upon getting hit by the Killer. If a key is dropped in this manner, then it will be invisible to all other Survivors to prevent theft.

As for moris, I’m completely aware of the wiggling mechanics when dropping Survivors. Hooks are usually pretty close together and easy to come by, not to mention that downing a Survivor near one is pretty common. I was thinking about putting in some risk to moris. It’s just a suggestion. Hooking the entire team first should definitely be a thing first though.

  • Unnecessary.

There IS such thing as too balanced; and too balanced is boring.

If you’ve seen the countless threads regarding moris and keys, then this is far from balanced. If it was balanced, then I would know. I’m not a big complainer when it comes to this kind of stuff. But these two assets in the game should be changed so that there is less frustration for both sides.

Hey, what about just removing both?

  • Or, we can just accept the fact that the game is full of momentum reversal mechanics and move on.....
