  • Whispers is fine how it is, honestly

  • Even if they aren't by the hook and you just want to camp, it's still not toxic. Someone not liking something doesn't make it toxic.

Buff killer, nerd survivor posts ad nauseam.

Infinites gone, vaulting/perk/map/pallet nerfs, bloodlust added, end game timer added, hatch close added.

There's a point where it's more of a L2P issue than anything. Killer is easier now than it ever was at release.

Also there's no context. Pro swf groups are maybe 1/30 games in my experience, but listening to this forum you'd think it was every second game.

Also it fails to mention the REAL people screwed over by all this. Soloq survivors.

A lot of what you say is correct, but killer does still need buffs, especially when facing those good SWF's. They are supposed to be the power role. You should be able to be that power role as any killer, from Pig to Wraith to Oni to Nurse. In it's current state, you can't.

  • It's the killers game. If the killer is in a position where they can let someone escape, it's up to them. You just sound salty because you're not the one chosen to survive.

  • @TatsuiChiyo said:

A good "Nerf" would simply be labelling SWF groups with an icon, Entity Claws for example, over the names of all members in the group so Killers can be aware of what they are getting into and, if they so choose, let them dodge it.

"But only bby Killers dodge git gud"

Not everyone wants to go against a team on comms, and since you can't prevent that and they can't really balance around comms in DBD, it's only fair Killers get to choose.

No. Then lobby dodging would be at an all time high. Matchmaking has enough issues without screwing it over with that. Again, balancing around SWF is the only way. Literally every other way is wrong.

So do I ! but this time it wasn’t even fun, they were complete potatoes it was kinda sad to see

Think of it less like annihilation, and more as a learning experience for them. It's a great way for them to learn. Tough love, as it were. It's like when you teach your kid to swim, and just throw them in the pool. You're there to make sure things don't go bad, but it's a good way to help them learn their instinctual skills.

Similarly, throwing a team of rank 17's against a high rank or decent killer is the same; and BHVR has their back because they don't lose a rank if they lose at rank 17. So, they have nothing to lose, and only experience to gain.

  • @tetsuo said:

And so since last update, as a rank 2 killer I just played two games against rank 17 survivors

I felt bad winning easily against them when I saw their ranks in the end of the match

I’m telling you guys something is wrong right now

Never feel bad. I don't care who I'm matched against on either side. I go in and try to win. I pay exactly zero attention to ranks.

  • @Hoodied said:

    Yeah Gen Rushing exists

Its where survivors ignore teammates on hook and only do generators pretty much

That's not gen rushing. That's being smart. You get no reward if your team mates survive the trial. It's every person for themselves.

  • Again, you can not, in any way, punish people for playing with their friends. NERFING them isn't, and will never be the answer.

But the problem is if voice comms were added to the game, then the game would be balanced around that, penalizing any survivor who chooses to not use the feature. I think solo survivors need more information, but not through in-game voice comms. However, if voice comms were added, then that would be the end of attempting to buff solo survivors. Any survivor not playing on voice comms would probably also get messages from those who are, blaming the solo for anything that goes wrong during the match.

Hopefully, because PS4 and Xbox and Discord already provide ways for SWF to be on comms, the devs won't waste time trying to add it to the game. Why add a feature that's already taken care of and done better by third parties?

They have to balance it around that anyway - cause it's the only way to balance around SWF.

  • @Monlyth said:

Asking for a developer update during the holiday season seems a bit insensitive. Developers should be able to enjoy the holidays in peace, just like everyone else.

I don't think anyone should call the DBD community insensitive for wanting updates, given the state of the game and history of the devs.

  • Survivors do have weapons. They're called perks and items.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

I do not want voice comms to be added to the game! I just want to get that out there. Too many players are teenagers.

Things like Kindred being base kit would be better. Adding a totem counter to Small Game. Do like Identity V where there are some pre-made "Help me!" "I'm being chased!" "This gen is almost done!" text options, which would also allow people of different native languages to play together easier.

But not in-game voice comms. Never. Never ever ever. I don't play solo survivor because I'm in a chatty mood. Half the time I'm playing in the middle of the night when I can't talk because everyone else is asleep. Just no.

One would assume you would be able to mute it like in any other game. Which most of us solo queue people would do anyway.

You disagree with the idea of it being literally possible?

Disagreeing with the idea =! not thinking it's possible.

Besides, game-health wise, it's actually not possible to penalize SWF's simply for playing with friends. The playerbase will die.

  • Killers have more or less always been a bit weak, sure. It's not impossible to be killer though. As well, Nurse was hardly "destroyed". Those who were actually good with her before (aka not reliant on addons) are still just as good.

  • @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/906854#Comment_906854

That's why I said "does not mean it is a good idea."

I know. I just disagree with even the hypothetical intro of the idea. I mostly play killer myself, but the devs have the right idea that they need to bring solo players up to SWF level, and then balance around that. If they actually do it or not remains to be seen, but that's literally the only way to do it.

  • @TAG said:

Sure you can. Just inflict penalties to people in the same group. Does not mean it is a good idea, but you can hypothetically do it.

No. You can not punish people for playing with their friends. Simple as that. They need to balance the game around it.

  • @NurseMainBTW said:

Truly a remarkable change. I'm not surprised that I have seen it in many builds while I was playing solo survivor (mine as well)

Are we to expect further changes to some of the less useful perks such as Autodidact, Monstrous Shrine, Unrelenting and many others?

Im on PC and the situation is almost the same, for a surv game 5m, for a killer game 1m

I have 2 accounts for DBD. One is currently rank 2 survivor and rank 1 killer, the other is rank 18 survivor and rank 13 killer. The waits are indistinguishable between the 2 accounts for both sides.

Anyone who knows anything about probability would tell you that no conclusion drawn on the basis of theoretical probability can be considered "fact". Likelihood is not evidence. You do not know for a fact that he is lying unless you've been watching his games, because what he's claiming is a technically possible occurence. So, for the last time, please don't call people names without a factual basis for such an accusation.

Look - you're trying to be a white knight here. As it happens, you're not doing a good job (so far). If he is being camped "literally every single game", I would like to see some proof of it, cause the claim itself is outlandish. Something you seem to keep ignoring, which pulls the rug out from under your pseudo-intellectual counter retorts.

Basically, just stop. This is the real world.

  • @Fibijean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/903529#Comment_903529

You don't know that, though. You haven't necessarily played the game as their role, at their rank, in their region. It's quite possible that you're right, but it's still out of line to call someone names when you have no actual evidence apart from your own conjecture to justify it.

I do know that, actually. Unless there is some mystical, cosmic anomaly at work, he is not getting camped "literally every game" unless one of the 4 things I listed is happening. Logic and the odds are on my side here.

It's not just my conjecture, it's statistically based fact.

  • It's not though. You get no reward for the survivor of your fellow survivors. It's everyone for themselves.

Honestly - I like to make sure my team survives during to the end game, but if they get hooked and there's a door opened, I'm out.

Camping is toxic, especially facecamping. It may lose you the game but it also guarantees one survivor can't escape which is totally unfair for the guy on hook

No it isn't. Just because you don't like it does not make it toxic. Guaranteeing the death of a survivor is literally the objective of the killer. Camping is a legitimate playstyle. Whether you like it or not.

  • The only thing I would see needs a change is the ability to get blood off downed or hooked survivors. I've been seeing that happen - and if it's a bug it needs fixing ASAP.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/904041#Comment_904041

But nurse doesn't work the same because people are using different control methods. It also doesn't matter unless they add cross play (Hopefully soon) but even when they do there would still be a divide. In fortnite theres aim assist on controller but not on mouse and keyboard, if you use a mouse and keyboard on console they will put you in a mixed lobby with mostly PC players

There's aim assist on all the killers anyway, lol

PC or console, controller or mouse.

  • @VoodooChild said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/904011#Comment_904011

I know that's why i think she should word different on console/controller because she was already weak, the nerf really just kicked her whole down but i know shes OP on PC so obviously a nerf was necessary but only on PC

The way killers work needs to be consistent across the board.

Multiplatform games have always had this issue, especially when how they control is drastically different. But it's always best to keep things feature consistent.

  • @Fibijean said:

I agree with you, but the devs have said pretty definitively that the feature will not be returning due to its abuse by lobby-dodgers.

If they are going to use that logic, they should be hiding survivors items in lobbies as well, but they've used the opposite logic justify that being there. I'm not saying they should remove visible items, obviously, but it's just a testament to how wishy-washy BHVR is. Absolutely abysmal in their PR and reasoning.

  • @aknitus said:

Also killer's lunge animation is faster than survs dropping pallet animation.

They are the killer. They are the power role. They are supposed to be more capable. That's the point of an asymmetrical game.

  • @rikaa said:

If the killer is too strong like oni, you just force survivors to do gen rush. They pick toolboxes DS,BT and prove thyself. They rush and escape. DBD has 3 major problems.

    1-Gen Rush

    2-Camp, Tunnel, Slug

    3-Toxicity

These are just because of the unbalanced killers and perks-add ons. They need to nerf oni. And make gen times a little bit longer. I was in oni matches today. All the time we were slugged. By cancelling his power when he pick up someone just makes killers slug survivors. People DC because they are slugged a lot, camped and tunneled. Usually killers tend to camp, tunnel when survivors are rushing gens doing them fast. So killer needs a pressure. These are all balance problems. The 3 major problems are just the results of unbalanced game. I will also kill myself on the hook. The oni is owerpowered. In 60 seconds after the game started, he got his power and slugged everybody. By the way were were all red ranks. rank1,rank3...He gains his power too quickly which is really boring. I am sure that devs are going to nerf him guys believe it or not. Spirit is nerfed(still powerful) but oni will be nerfed. So I am just waiting...

    Oni is not too strong.

I play in xbox and have never, NEVER ever been killed by a nurse. I dont think ive ever even seen someone get killed by her. Most of the (Rare) games i have with her are filled with my teammates t bagging and taunting. Ive been trying to get better at her but i have yet to get more than one kill in a game. Whats even worse is that because all killer ranks are the same i dont have really have the opportunity to learn her because the survivors are already experienced

I realize this is besides the point of what people are talking about but Nurse is much different on console then she is on PC. I have no doubt in my mind she the weakest killer in the game. I would like a buff to her but with cross play Hopefully coming soon idk what it would be. Maybe something like fortnite where if they detect youre using a keyboard on console they switch your settings or something (not completely sure how it works, my knowledge is second hand), but it would be if you were using a controller on PC instead

On console, she is the weakest. Simply because of the nature of controllers.

On PC, she is the strongest.

  • What the OP needs to do is first, go hit rank 1 as survivor.

Than, second, go hit rank 1 as killer (or attempt to).

    Their opinion will change.

  • Imagine being so mediocre at survivor that you have to complain that windows and pallets aren't safe. Maybe nobody told you - but they aren't supposed to be safe. You're supposed to be attempting to survive, not safe. You aren't safe until you walk out the exit gate.

  • ONI IS BIG MAN. BIG MAN MAKE BIG NOISE. RRRRRHAAHHHHHH

  • They really don't. Not everything needs to be nerfed. Stop trying to turn the game into a snoozefest. My goodness, this new breed of players from the last year or so never stops whining. The DBD equivalent to millenials lol.

  • The only time I DC is if something comes up IRL and I actually have to go. Otherwise, if I simply don't want to be in the match, I'll just go let myself get hooked. Even then, it's just a game and I just go for points if I decide the game isn't worth trying to win.

Back in the day killers had some ridiculously overpowered things as well. Like mori's from first down. Old dying light + remember me was the best and most toxic combo in the game.

You could also AFK all game, NOED 4 people at the end, and that was a pip up.

I stand by that you can only win without doing it if the survivors are bad, when the game is played as close to a stock M1 killer as possible. Fortunately, most survivors are, even at red ranks. But when you hit those 3-4k hour survivors who have every tile memorized? Yeah, no. M1 killer isn't good enough for that.

This was in early 2018. Mori's were still after one hook. This was more or less right before killers got some sorely needed QOL changes that put them anywhere near where they are today. He did the same thing with perkless, addonless Freddy at around that time as well. You going to tell me he got terrible survivors every single game? Perks and addons have no place in your argument here - cause he did it perkless and addonless.

Killers, while still grossly underpowered, are in the most balanced placed they have ever been in this game. Just because you're not good enough to do it doesn't make it impossible.

  • @Kikki said:

Well ... I mean out there are so many toxic Survivor's too... :/ My Opinion is toxic Survivor's created toxic Killer's most of the time.

One side didn't create another side. Toxic people in general just exist.

It's an attitude/mindset. It's not something one develops.

  • I should also add - if done right, Trapper is REALLY fun to play on this map. You can shut down so many loops it's crazy.

Uhhh Marth camps, slugs, and tunnels religiously in his new "hardcore" dbd challenge. So I don't buy it bud. BTW, rank 1 was much easier to get a few years ago.

This was a specific challenge, to 4K every game. So he did it the easiest way possible. Different situation entirely and the comparison means nothing.

As for his previous challenge - while pipping up to rank 1 was easier back then, playing Wraith, and killer as a whole was SIGNIFICANTLY harder at that time. So no, not impossible "bud". Stop trying to make excuses.

  • @Financial_Stability said:

I don't know if it's me, but the last few killer releases have been becoming increasingly stale. My theory for this is is how those killers interacted with skillcaps, leading to killers that didn't need time to learn.

What I mean by skillcap is simply put the amount of skill a player can put into a killer until the point where the kit doesn't allow them to do any more. You can see this easily with a killer like Legion. It doesn't matter how good you are in chases, you reach a limit on how well you can down survivors. This is an example of a killer that will become stale very fast.

A killer like Huntress however has a much higher skill ceiling, allowing for a player to put more skill into her and seeing satisfying results. Cross-map hatchets are a great example as well as predicting a survivor's swerve from a distance where they could react to a fully charged hatchet. These all contribute to a killer that can be enjoyed and explored through countless matches. Nurse is a fine example of this as well, with perfectly predicted 1 blinks on a map like Lery's being among the most satisfying things you can do with her.

While generally, low-skillcap killers aren't very strong, there are a few that pop out that offer no skill-based challenge to gain satisfaction from. Meaning that these killers don't have their feats of skill lime huntress. They do something very well without much skill from the user. The Oni and the Plague are excellent examples.

The Plague is an m1 killer through and through. Her power is only accessible through addons and survivors, making it inconsistent at best. The thing with her is that she can lower the amount of health-states survivors have for almost the entirety of the game. She has to take less time chasing down survivors because of this. And with good perk synergy, she becomes a decently performing killer. But what satisfaction can you gain? You run around m1ing for majority of your matches. This is why she has a terribly low pickrate. Even with her power, there isn't any true feats of skill that show how in tune you are with the power. You get a beam of huntress hatchets, wriggle your mouse left and right and you'll more than likely hit the survivor.

The Oni is shaping to be a top tier killer. His chase potential is lethal and his map pressure is outstanding. He can use his lunge in blood rage to catch up before you reach a pallet and instadown you flat out, or break the pallet. But after you get use to the admittedly janky controlls, what is allowing you to perform? Your skill, or your kit? Once again, there is very little skill you can implement into your play with Oni. But his kit is so strong you really wouldn't need to even if it was possible. With a good underatanding of the basic game mechanics, you can learn most of what there is to learn on Oni in a matter of hours. This makes for a killer that won't keep your attention for too long gameplay-wise.

In fact, the past 4 killers have had this very issue. Most of them fail to keep a player engaged. What is needed is a killer that shakes things up. A killer that's performance is dictaded by the player, not the kit. We need to look at what allows a player to exercise their skill by looking at killers that are all about them. Trapper's trap placements, Huntress's hatchet predictions, Nurse's blink predictions. We need a killer that will make players want to play for hours on end and still have new experiences and strategies. Open ended gameplay is our key. With that, I will leave. Good evening.

TLDR: Recently released killers have been stale because of low skillcap despite them being powerful. We need killers that allow the player to express their skill and not be limited by the kit like many others are.

Ghostface and Demogorgon having a low skillcap. OOF. I mean, they definitely aren't the highest, but you need to be extremely strategic in how you play them.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/903607#Comment_903607

You are right. The survivors could just be terrible. But i'm talking about good survivors who actually know how to loop, know all the infinities, rocking every second chance perk available, etc etc.

Again, even good survivors make mistakes. It is not in any sense of the word impossible. Unbelievably and ridiculously difficult? Definitely. Not impossible.

In fact, we all watched Marth do an iron wraith challenge a couple years back (when killer life was even more difficult than now, and Wraith was even less powerful than he is now), with no perks or addons from rank 20 to rank 1. Without camping or tunneling.

  • @Apple2o said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/903583#Comment_903583

I've been doing a lot of perkless, addonless wraith games at rank 1 and I can confidently say it is IMPOSSIBLE to 4k without camping, slugging, or tunneling. There is literally no time to do 12 chases, when even 1 chase through a strong area can cost you 2+ gens. You have to clear out some pallets near the gens you want, hook someone near it, and camp that area. That's the only way I have been able to consistently win with it.

It is not impossible. Even with addonless Wraith.

  • Imagine actually believing the game is balanced in favor of killers.
