Look at any other online game, they will have the same kind of punishments in place.
Also, that is the point of this thread, to say that this behavior is unacceptable and SHOULD be punished, or removed as a game mechanic. So unless you can actually articulate an argument that explains why it should stay when literally every other multiplayer online game ever has these types of things in place, saying "the game lets you" is part of this discussion, we are saying that it should not let you.
Most of the games you listed have absolutely no punishment for leaving casual games at any point you please. In their highly competitive ranked modes they have punishments. DBD is not highly competitive nor does it have a highly competitive gamemode. Until a true ranked mode and casual queue are added there should be no reason to force players to stay in a match.
-
They'll definitely be fun to play as, which I'm kinda looking forward to. On the other hand they look absolutely miserable to play against. A lot of the changes are pretty good but the 4.6 will likely force a lot more lose lose situations on survivors at certain tiles. Have to wait and see though.

I can exaggerate as well. I do not want to play 5 minute killer games.
Being held hostage for an absurd amount of time is entirely different from a game ending quickly, lol.

Why are survivors told to do totems instead of just jockeying gens, but then when the devs release something to incentivize that people like you complain? Survivors doing totems slows gens, there is literally nothing to complain about here.

Instead of fixing actual pressing matters in the game, let's go and nerf something that has no actual gameplay impact. Brilliant idea there, Tony.

I don't know if it's just me, but I hardly ever see anyone really asking for Nurse nerfs. As for Spirit, she needs a slight indication as to whether she's phasing or not.

Most streamers win 99% of matches because survivors are bad at the game. It doesn’t matter who the streamer uses.
Okay so if survivors are bad at the game, why are you using the very few good survivors as your reason as to why Demo is an overall bad killer? Shouldn't you be going off the overwhelming average of matches you get, which are bad survivors?
-
I don't know what you really expect honestly. Almost every single multiplayer game has toxic players, but for some reason every acts like this is a DBD exclusive thing. It's not. It is an extremely prevalent thing in online gaming. While it's prevalence doesn't mean it's okay, it's something you have to expect and brace for if you choose to play multiplayer games. There will always be people who are toxic, and will find a way to be that way.

Ehhh....not really....the cost of using undying+ a hex are 2 perks that could be deleted in seconds after starting the match. Hell, you could have someone find your undying, then you're screwed, as soon as they catch Ruin its over, you're running a 2 perk build.
Not surprised at the nerf though. Anything good, the devs will always eventually nerf to make the game easier and lower the skill requirement for the game. As if thats ever helped anything.....
Undying did way too many things for what it cost.
It allowed an extremely strong gen regression to persist for typically a lengthy amount of time throughout the trail, had added game delay from survivors having to search for and cleanse totems, while also giving aura reveal if anyone even passed by the radius of totem. In almost every scenario with the Ruin-Undying combination, the killer never really saw any downsides to using the perk. The only real situation where it did have some downside was when it was cleansed in like 2 seconds. But even then, that was relatively uncommon. It almost always was doing something for the killer no matter how the survivors played. They cleansed totems, that's a win for you. They ignored totems, win for you. They go near totems, win for you.
The nerf it was given was warranted, and it isn't even a bad perk even post nerf. It was way too overbearing on certain killers and solos.

How so? Michael needs to stalk to get out of tier 1 where hes 105%. Definitely not a good idea to stay in. Tier 2 hes no longer undetectable but has a small tr so if spinechill didnt work on undetectable itd still work on tier 2. And tier 3 doesn't really matter he has a huge terror radius. So spine chill hard counters michael at his weakest point.
That's a Michael being overly weak at the start of the game problem, not a Spine Chill one. Spine Chill is really easy to counter once you realize that someone has it, and determining if someone has it is quite simple. People always clamor for survivors to stop using meta perks but then want to go and nerf a good, but counterable perk like Spine Chill.
Instead of nerfing Spine Chill literally just because of Michael, we should be addressing Michael as a killer and fixing his glaring flaws.

You do you. but we have a distinct lack of killer players for a reason.
Just spend a day checking survivor profiles and discover how many of them don't even have the 1000 kills achievement or killer past rank 10.
In all honesty, I think the biggest factor behind killer numbers not being super high is because it's a solo experience. It's not something you can enjoy with friends or other people, and that is a massive part of almost every multiplayer game nowadays.

Thanks, but I sort of agree and disagree with your statements.
So I agree with the IFC statement. The IFC change should probably just get rid of the scream when activating blood fury. But, I would then suggest to increase the radius of the screaming to something like 16 meters, 8 meters for using his power just seems a bit too small and underwhelming for an ultra rare. Even then, all it would do is let you know where survivors are when using your power to patrol. This isn't the best use of his power. I think I could probably change the IFC to something else or keep the main idea with a different effect.
I sort of disagree with the aura reveal disagreement (hehe). Halving the amount of blood orbs survivors drop is a pretty huge deal. Not only that, but the max number of charges worth of blood orbs that can be on the map at once is 100. So you would have good information with a drawback for Oni. I think it is still far better than what we have now.
The second part was referring to the TR aura reveal scream when the Oni activates his power when using the IFC, not Renjiros Blood Orb reveal effect. My bad, I should have clarified further lol.
Agreed. 8M is definitely too small on for it to be the sole effect of the addon. Also agree with you on the patrol part, considering you're typically supposed to use your power when you already have information as to where the survivors are through BBQ or other aura perks. I think 16 meters would be a good number, but a little underwhelming on it's own. Another effect would definitely do it some good and surely make it a nice addon.
-
For Iridescent Family Crest, I personally think it should just be limited to survivors screaming when the Oni Demon Dashes past them within the 8 meter radius.
The aura reveal on activation is a little overboard imo. A lot of Oni's Blood Fury counter play comes from hiding and being stealthy when he gets his ability, so I think giving him that much information puts him a little over the top. Definitely a pretty solid concept though, good job!

Definitely! Or at least put them somewhere but purely the edges of the map
Agreed. It's a shame to see that they're rendered entirely useless in the games current state. While I think they're too small and one sided at the moment, I think with an increase to the size of the tile it could become a really cool new addition to the gameplay loop.
Hopefully the devs stop being so shy towards it and give this Z wall idea a shot.
-
I've been hoping that Z walls would come into the map for a while. They're actually a really cool tile, and I think if you made them just slightly bigger, they could have some very interesting impacts on gameplay and help to keep things a little more fresh.
-
Honestly, when they aren't exploiting, I find Blight to be one of the most interactive and fun killers to go against. He has counter play, is strong if used properly, and is interactive for both sides in a chase. He checks all the boxes of a well designed killer for me.

The implementation of SBMM is very unlikely to hurt the playerbase. It shelters the majority of the playerbase, which is the weaker or casual players. Unfortunately though, it typically makes the game unfun to those who are good. SBMM makes the game more enjoyable for the majority, so it will not hurt the playerbase. If anything it will help retain players better.

I like how OP keeps hyping up these bottles on a daily but will never show actual footage of them using it effectively to demonstrate their point.
Honestly, almost any situation where you get a hit by using both tonics can just be achieved by using the pink. The yellow bottles are extremely niche.
-
Okay? If they keep doing that then throw on a map offering of your own. Sweating and trying to gain a favourable advantage for yourself isn't a survivor exclusive thing in this game. You can do the same thing they're doing if you're tired of being on the receiving end.
-
One of their most well balanced and designed killers they've released imo. The only case you can make for Oni being too strong is with topknot, but that's an add on problem, not a power one.

Balancing from the top down is literally how almost every other game balances for a reason. It works. Your explanation is literally saying the game would be terrible when bad players lose because they played bad.
I also never said balance for SWF, I said for good vs good matches. If we were to balance for SWF I'd want changes to solo queue to compensate.
"And if we balance for the Top Survivor players, we also need to balance for the Top Killer Players - so that Killers also have a miserable experience."
Survivor already has the tools for handling top killer players so this point doesn't make any sense as that's how the game literally already is in its current state. IE the entire reason the killer community is always complaining (we're balancing for one and not the other). We are already balanced for the top killer players.
If you balance around the top, the game becomes more competitive and unenjoyable to the masses. You lose a large chunk of the playerbase as the game pushes itself away from fairly casual to competitive. I'm not saying it will flat out kill it immediately, but it will likely put it on the track to that. I've seen it in Call Of Duty multiplayer and it isn't pretty. It was a casual game for most, but then SBMM was implemented to make it more competitive and it's slowly starting to kill the multiplayer scene. Not everything needs to be perfectly balanced, there are games that have been successful as casual MP that have glaring balance issues, and I think DBD is a great example of that.
The game is predicated on luck, and RNG. In competitive games, that is almost nonexistent. To have a competitive game, you would need to purge everything and start from the ground up, which at this point seems very unlikely due to how many variables are already currently in the game. I personally don't think it's realistic to ever expect that this game can be competitive, that's just my opinion of course but I firmly doubt they would risk their current success right now and put so many resources into almost entirely reworking every facet of the game.

Ah, come on. Wouldn't you want see a game without toxicity? There is no reason at all to annoy people.
I don't think players should be punished because the opposing side gets mad at them when they make their character crouch repeatedly.
I'd love to see the game rid of actual toxic behavior like being an ass to someone in endgame chat though.

We are talking about giving one of the most OP things in the game to Killers by basekit, because they are unable to grow a thicker skin. I have never seen a game like DBD where people are constantly complaining about other players spamming a button. There are so many games where teabagging is possible and DBD has the most offended players by that.
The idea is obviously completely unreasonable.
Don't even try man, it's like talking to a brick wall. You just have to accept that there are genuinely people in this world who get mad at someone for making their character crouch rapidly.
And the fact that for some reason the majority of those people play this game.
-
@GeneralV said:

First of all, Tombstone is not overpowered. Second, growing a thicker skin basically means enduring all the toxicity until you learn to ignore it, which everyone does eventually. But why make people go through that? Come on, you have to admit that toxicity must go.
Or you can just not get mad at a dude sitting behind a keyboard hitting a button rapidly.

This is the power of group think. Freddy was the same 12 months ago but people played on rather than complaining. Now with survivors reinforcing each other beliefs on sites like Reddit or certain twitch streams despite Freddy not actually changing somehow Freddy is so broken games against him are unplayable now and everyone needs to give up on first hook.
I’m not going to name names but I’ve seen a few very influential streamers say Freddy takes no skill and I’m guessing thats it, they are THE authoritive source for DBD and if they say Freddy takes no skill then every survivor is fully justified in disconnecting against him. I feel sad for the future of humanity, most people are just sheep wanting to be led in a flock.
They aren't too far off though. Most of Freddy's abilities baby the player. Freddy takes knowledge of the game, as pretty much every killer does, but definitely doesn't take much skill. The problem with him in particular is that he gets a lot in terms of power for little in the skill department. I'd love to see the old sleep mechanic return in some form to incentivize smart juggling of survivors.

That's still new. New enough not to have an accurate grasp on how game mechanics work, how good the average player is, etc. Just looking at that person's argument proves that.
It literally doesn't even come close to the actual definition of new. I knew by 350 hours how the game worked nearly inside and out, the game doesn't have insane hidden secrets and tactics that you find out and master after like 5k hours. It's extremely simple, and doesn't take much learning whatsoever. Somehow with your 8k hours you yourself don't realize that though.
-
Spending 29 whole days playing one game isn't new. Just because you sit and do nothing but play this game all day and night doesn't take away from the fact that 29 days for the average person is a ######### load of time in one game. That amount of time doesn't translate to being "new" to the game whatsoever.

Ive played on both. Console doesn't make you miss. Lag spikes, maybe, but as a console player, that happens far less than people say.
Lag and freezing issues are fairly frequent on console. If you're on console, your platform and controller puts you at a disadvantage and doesn't allow you to hit many shots consistently that are routine for a PC player.
A controller doesn't allow for quick but small, precise movements. This is because there is no sort of aim slowdown.
-
@Snap_Tobiyume said:

I've been on ps4 for the past three years. It doesn't make you miss. That's just an excuse bad players make.
No, it absolutely isn't just "an excuse bad players make". Naturally the design and use of a controller makes it harder to aim and make small adjustments vertically and horizontally quickly but accurately. This is why most shooter games have some form of aim assist that slows down your aim horizontally when your sights are aimed closely to a target. On Keyboard, however, you're aiming using your wrist and forearm which gives far more control and ease with adjustments and allows for more accurate flicks.
That isn't even getting into the fact that PS4 has God awful stuttering issues and frame rates, and those only make an already difficult killer worse.
-
I don't really care what the survivor is as long as they aren't basic and are interesting. Although the only concern I have is if people start flooding the forums with complaints or accusations because they coincidentally got tunneled or camped by a killer while they were playing an LGBT character.

Jund complained about Oni and Oni had his flick nerfed, and then IIRC Jund complained again until he got it back.
Spirit - Jund started the "you just need good headphones" line. Before that there wasn't too many complaints about spirit, then his fanboys started spreading the meme and you end up in 2021 where every other day someone complains about spirit taking no skill other than good headphones
If I'm not mistaken, he complained about the 180 flick, which was absolutely ridiculous and needed change. I'm not entirely certain about this, but I believe I can recall him advocating for a 90 degree flick as well. The main change he suggested immediately after PTB was to change his mallet AOE. It's easy to make someone a villain when you leave tidbits of information out.

Plenty wanted the Billy nerf and plenty want an add on nerf for huntress. I'm not talking about iri heads which, I mean exhaustion. Considering you can tap E to dodge a hatchet at any point, and as survivor you dont need to DH until AFTER shes thrown means you cant bait it out as a huntress vs good survivors, so essentially huntress will need 3 on point hatchets to down a survivor after her add on change
What is your definition of plenty? Because clearly it's different than the actual definition of the word. There were hardly any threads asking to nerf Billy back then. The consensus around the community back then was that he was a fair and fun killer, but only had a few outdated addons. Of course you'll always have a few outliers who want everything nerfed, but to say there were plenty of players wanting a basekit nerf to Billy is just flat out wrong.
As for Huntress, the community asking for outdated addons to be changed, not for the devs to weaken her basekit power, which is still very strong. Once again showing that survivors don't mind strong powers as long as they're fun to go against.
