Eh, trapper is better with corrupt intervention anyway. But I do agree for killers like Clown. Hope everybody likes going against NoED instead.
Careful - if too many people start running NOED, it will get nerfed too. Again.
Gotta make sure the survivors are having fun, at the expense of the killers fun.
-
You give BHVR far too much credit. Credit they aren't even in the realm of deserving.

@CrummyCookie said:
Stop crying. It's healthy for the game. I'm sure all the nerfs in the world can't be as unfair as noed for survivors
Comeback when tunneling and slugging, and noed and mori's are the new meta. See how "healthy" you think it is when you're having a miserable time.

@Hazerino said:
imagine punishing survivors for a nerf that they didn't ask for. the issue wasn't hex ruin the issue was killers relying on it to win games. you can play just fine without ruin. i play huntress at red ranks and dont use ruin and i do just fine. just learn how to properly apply gen pressure. bringing moris is gonna do nothing but gut moris and make survivors dc. you wont be helping anything lmao
Are you kidding me? Survivors have been whining about ruin forever.
-
At nearly 3000 Ebony Mori's between all my killers, I'm down. Let's go.
The tunnel/mori meta has begun.

wrong, new players should be included too, and hex:ruin destroys new players from the game!
No. New players should not factor into balance changes. Period. New players need to learn.
-
Oh, the tunneling and slugging is going to become the new ultimate meta. Survivors thought ruin wasn't fun? Killers are going to make their game experience a living hell. Or rather, a dying hell.
Killers will avenge ruin. They'll assist the devs in killing their game by making survivors not want to play.

Just want to say that stuff like audio changes likely wouldn't be mentioned in the designer notes. This is a bug fix, not really worth mentioning when the main talking points are design changes to the game. Wait for the actual patch notes before you complain about this.
Otherwise I kind of agree. It's a bit unsettling that the devs don't see why Ruin is so necessary especially at high ranks. It's also not that difficult to deal with. Really just continue to work on the gen even if you can't hit great skill checks. If you can hit them then Ruin isn't even an issue. Plus the fact it is a totem and will likely be gone super fast anyway.
I agree.
😮
-
There's no sense trying to reason with the devs. They are clearly and blatantly survivor biased.
The ones that do play killer are beyond mediocre at it. It makes sense - they are balancing for their own ranks.
-
@Peanits said:
I'd definitely suggest giving it a try first. My initial reaction is that remove the hex condition would make it far too strong. Combining it with Surveillance means you can see exactly which generators are being worked on at all times, and you can tell exactly when someone gets off the generator. If you aren't able to cleanse it, you wouldn't stand a chance.
Your copy and paste of the same response you used in another thread, while blatantly ignoring valid concerns from people, doesn't really bode well for how trustworthy you are.
-
They won't answer. They are only going to delete this thread like they did with the last person who mentioned this.
Silence that which makes you look incompetent, if you will.

@senki527 said:
stop crying, you got 1000 of survivor nerfs already. Balanced landing, self care, exhaustion, pallet vacuum etc.
So, we're going to compare ruin to Exhaustion and Pallet Vacuums? TOP KEK right there.
As for the others - your mistake, and the reason you're off base, is because the core functionality of those perks *remained the same*. Only part of it was nerfed.
With ruin, it was gutted completely with a BS excuse.
-
The devs are survivor mains. The devs that we have seen play killer...well, let's just say we can all understand why they are balancing around rank 15's.

I am very aware that you're talking about Huntress' Lullaby.
A Hex rooting its power in despair. Your hunt is an irresistible song of dread which muddles your prey's attention.
Survivors receive a 2/4/6 % Regression penalty when missing any Skill Check
.
Each time a Survivor is hooked, Huntress Lullaby grows in power:
- 1 to 4 Tokens: Time between the Skill Check warning sound and the Skill Check becomes shorter.
- 5 Tokens: No Skill Check warning
I'm talking about the "Hex: Huntress Lullaby" that appears on the screen when you do the very first skillcheck, whether someone has been hooked or not. Not the skillcheck sound.
-
BHVR - The one developer that has even less in touch with game balance than the developers of Modern Warfare 2.
-
@Shroompy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/970185#Comment_970185
The sound notification only comes into play once some one is hooked, the regression penalty is up as long as the totem stands.
I'm referring to Huntress' lullaby. I'm unsure if we're on the same page.
But ruin shouldn't need notification. It has a big enough tell.
-
@Venom368 said:
Just fix the maps 4Head
The perfect statement lol. That really is the only solution though. Until then, Survivor will be the power role and killers will slowly leave the game.
-
@Shroompy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/117686/new-ruin-could-work-if
Survivors are notified "before" in comes into play because it is already in play, people tend to forget the extra regression penalty for a missed skill check.
It's not in play until someone is hooked.

@Impala said:
Killer mains asking for meta survivor perks nerf after the ruin nerf suddenly forgot about Decisive, BT, Mettle of Man, Balanced Landing, but hey, devs are biased against killers, right? Grow up, while I don't have a problem with the current Ruin, this change might mean that something else will come in the game soon after this change, something like gen speed, they are planning things for the long term for a few months now, so chill.
Except those "nerfs" weren't NEARLY to the extent of the nerf Ruin is getting. Ruin was gutted.

If it stayed the same or even better gets buffed instead of nerfed to hell
I'm trying to look at it optimistically. This is BHVR we're talking about, though, so I get the frustration. I'm right there with ya.
-
So, a rank 20 walks into a bar...
-
Imagine being naive enough to think that because something is heavily used, that it needs a nerf because it's overpowered.
Imagine being foolish enough to have a game with an ALREADY ESTABLISHED playerbase of 3 years...and balance around new players.

It shouldn't surprise you. It's BHVR.

@Mandy said:
Can I remind you that it's still got to be tested on the PTB - numbers can still be adjusted, please just try it out, then give feedback on it.

but why would this information be given to survivors?

Because it's BHVR. You can't deny they are survivor biased.

@skoopydoo said:
This change to ruin makes it easier for new people to enjoy the game. Good change to get more people into this game. I applaud the devs for this because they knew they'd get pushback but it's for the best.
Correction - it makes it easier for new survivors.
Their killer base will plummet. Who are these "new players" going to play against if there's no killers?

Ha, expecting BHVR to have forethought.
TOP KEK.

@Peanits said:
I would definitely say give it a try first. Having played around with it, it can be pretty nasty once you get some pressure. Combine it with Surveillance and you also get some outrageous tracking (since generators automatically regress). You'll always know which generators are being worked on.
All due respect - if you guys are the same people who "played around with" the original Spirit Prayer Beads, and more than 2 blink original Nurse and thought those were good ideas...you don't give us a lot of reason to trust what you're saying.

@Thatbrownmonster said:
Will survivors be warned that the new hex ruin is affecting the generators?
I would assume so. Much like Huntress' lullaby. You know about it the second you hit a skillcheck.
-
@humanbeing1704 said:
people always throw out good decisive nerf ideas but how could borrowed time be Nerfed?
Borrowed doesn't really need to be nerfed. Except for maybe giving it a cooldown. Even then, not really necessary.
-
Touche, lol.
-
And soon - longer lobbies, cause the killer base gets cut in half. :)
-
"Let's nerf ruin because 80% of killers use it. Let's not figure out "why" 80% of killers use it".
To be clear - killers for the most part, except for the bad ones, don't use it because they need it to win. They use it because it helps take the stress off playing killer. I can go on cruise control and play survivor. I don't have to think about it. That's why I'm a survivor main. Killer is stressful because you have to be everywhere at once.
All this is going to do is make it so people start using the most mobile killers as a meta. Billy, Oni, Hag, Freddy etc. Until BHVR nerfs them into the ground too because "80% of killers use these killers". That's not an exaggeration, because that is, in their own words, literally their mentality for nerfing Ruin. All ruin did for me is make me better at skillchecks. This is going to cause the same mobile killers being used constantly, and tunneling to be more prevalent. That's all this will do. Can't wait to see how they nerf tunneling.
But hey - nerf ruin, but let's keep that 5 second stun on DS. Great logic, there, BHVR. 😎
2020 - YEAR OF THE SURVIVOR
-
It will be meta. Until it gets nerfed too.

@Mandy said:

Of course this is true - after all there has been no recent changes that have affected killers positively have there? Oh wait, Freddy got a really large rework and is now pretty strong, Balanced Landing got altered and that was a huge Killer complaint and many many more things. Fact is the Developers are not killer or survivor sided, they make changes for the better health of the game!
I wouldn't go there. It took them almost 2 years to finally rework Freddy. Killer nerfs happen almost immediately.
-
This is the kind of one-sided, incorrect balancing that is slowly killing their game. How about instead of mindlessly nerfing killer things on a constant basis, we actually give the non-mobile killers the ability to actually apply gen pressure?
Guess we'll just have to tunnel them. That will sure be fun for new players, lol. Until that is nerfed too.
Basically - nerf everything new players don't want to adapt to. We'll see how this goes when there's no killers left for survivors to face.

I have been wanting to set mine, any guides to which settings will let me see better?
A streamer did one but it’s a couple years old and he admits it was quick And could be improved so I wonder if anyone has “best settings.”
It will be different for every game. I could screenshot my settings and send them to you if you like? If you don't like them you can tweak them, but it's the brightness, contrast and exposure that are really key :)
-
A skill based, dynamically changing queue. Base it on the amount of wins (whether that be escapes, or pips, or whatever in a match) that a player averages. Match them with people of similar statistics. If they go on a losing streak and their average changes, so does the matchmaking. Etc etc.

"All these people believe the Earth is flat just like me. Therefore the Earth is flat."
I'm sure you see why this isn't a real argument.
You:
If you really have this much of a problem with DS sorry to say you can't be that good of a killer.
Your little metaphorical excerpt is backwards. It's not me claiming that it's true because they are on my side. It's you saying I'm bad for believing these things. So, I repeat. Would you like to elaborate on how you came to the conclusion that because I have these beliefs about DS, I must not be a good killer? Cause the people I listed believe the exact same thing I do on the subject of DS. By association, because you consider me bad for having that belief (which is literally what you said in so many words), you must consider them bad too.
I would like you to elaborate on that instead of hiding from it for the 10th time. I'm genuinely interested in how you retract or try to explain that one away instead of relying on a metaphorical phrase that does not pertain to the claim you made. Address it, or stop. By saying that about me, you're discrediting ALL of them. ALL of those people who have helped shape DBD and help make almost everything good that has happened to the game a reality.

I just have to say that you shouldn't be talking about logical platforms and invalid arguements when you've constantly thrown out assumptions and discarded them whenever they turned out to be untrue, until you're down to "you need your crutch" and clinging to your appeal to authority.
Please stop being so concerned with proving people's opinions "invalid" or finding a reason to make it justified to disregard their opinion. You're not talking to flat earthers, you're talking to people that disagree with you about a perk in DBD.
Unlike him - it's not his beliefs I take issue with on DS. It's his notion that somehow, hitting a DS skillcheck is "outplaying" anyone. It's not. That's the biggest issue I have.

No, baiting the killer to grab you/pick you up is the outplay.
LOL
Where did I ever say this? Stop twisting my argument to fit your narrative.
But let's talk about all those killers that are bad for believing the same thing I do? Let's talk about that, which you, once again, ignored. You know, all those killers, who believe the same thing I do in regards to DS, that you said must not be very good killers. The most highly regarded killers in the community. Enlighten us! Let's talk about how bad you think they are! Or, just keep avoiding it and put your foot back in your mouth on that one.

I'd be down for deactivation conditions as long as DS's timer pauses when the survivor is on the ground to compensate.
I would be fine with that. In return, if they are grabbed during a hook save, out of a locker, or in out of a trap that they stepped in their own damn self, they don't get to DS.
-
@thesuicidefox said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/967339#Comment_967339
LOL dude I keep telling you I don't even use DS.
They don't get up "in a matter of seconds". It takes 16 seconds to heal them, and 32 seconds to heal themselves. The former is extended if you have anti-heal perks such as Sloppy. The only way they get up fast is if they have Unbreakable or two survivors heal them, at which point you have 3 survivors not doing gens. So yea that's a lot of pressure. Still haven't even acknowledged the Bubba speed limiter run where he slugs for a 4k pretty much every game because it's super effective. Selective reading at its best.
You never questioned my arguments you question my experience in the game and my skill. So yea, ad hominem.
If you bait the killer to pick you up or grab you, that is an outplay because the killer didn't have to do that. If the killer falls for that bait it's their own fault. It's not the fault of the perk or the player for trying to maximize their perk. Survivors with DS make ballsy plays that are super obvious DS plays. Maybe don't fall for obvious tricks?
"Hitting a DS skill check is an out play".
Thanks - that's all I needed to hear.
K-E-K.
OOF, survivor mains. They never cease to amaze me. They say the darnedest things.
(great job avoiding the bad killer argument again - thanks for handing me the victory, bro)
