New Ruin could work if..

New ruin COULD be useful - but a couple key things need to happen for it to be remotely decent.

  1. Rework the maps. If you expect killers with no mobility power (Trapper, Bubba, Clown, Doctor...etc etc) to be able to apply adequate pressure in a map like Mother's Dwelling, you're insane. If new Ruin is supposed to require us to apply that pressure in order for it to be useful, the maps can't be the size of 12 football fields. This is why the indoor maps are the most successful maps for killer - it's actually possible to distribute that pressure against 4 survivors spread out across the map, because the maps aren't the size of a suburb.
  2. At the VERY least, it needs to not notify the survivor that hex ruin is a thing. The devs ######### on Huntress' Lullaby by notifying them that it exists before it ever comes into play. Even then - they should just make it no longer a hex perk. Just allow it to exist.

If it stayed the same or even better gets buffed instead of nerfed to hell

I'm trying to look at it optimistically. This is BHVR we're talking about, though, so I get the frustration. I'm right there with ya.

Survivors are notified "before" in comes into play because it is already in play, people tend to forget the extra regression penalty for a missed skill check.

It's not in play until someone is hooked.

  • Just fix the maps 4Head

  • The sound notification only comes into play once some one is hooked, the regression penalty is up as long as the totem stands.

The perfect statement lol. That really is the only solution though. Until then, Survivor will be the power role and killers will slowly leave the game.

I'm referring to Huntress' lullaby. I'm unsure if we're on the same page.

But ruin shouldn't need notification. It has a big enough tell.

I am very aware that you're talking about Huntress' Lullaby.

A Hex rooting its power in despair. Your hunt is an irresistible song of dread which muddles your prey's attention.

Survivors receive a 2/4/6 % Regression penalty when missing any Skill Check

    .

Each time a Survivor is hooked, Huntress Lullaby grows in power:

    • 1 to 4 Tokens: Time between the Skill Check warning sound and the Skill Check becomes shorter.
    • 5 Tokens: No Skill Check warning

To be fair, every patch that has been a nerf to killers has been answered with 'killers are all going to quit'. But the statistics show that the number of active players has continued to rise slowly over time.

'Fixing the maps' is kinda of just simplifying something that's extremely complex into a simple statement lol. I have no idea where they could even possibly start with trying to rebalance maps, there's like wayyy too many things to take into consideration, I feel

I'm talking about the "Hex: Huntress Lullaby" that appears on the screen when you do the very first skillcheck, whether someone has been hooked or not. Not the skillcheck sound.
