  • That achievement is truly awful. I'm allowed to say that, I know what I'm talking about, I just unlocked it:

    outbreak breakout.PNG

It was not fun, and I am sure a lot of other players who were in my game also had less fun because of this achievement.

    My perks:

    • Circle Of Healing - to keep everyone alive longer, and so I can heal myself before waiting at the gate (more on that later)
    • Overcome - there are a lot of narrow hallways and rooms so it's easy to lose the Killer with the speedboost from this. Circle Of Healing also ensures I can heal myself after I escape so I can use it again in the next chase

And now the two most important perks:

    • Wake Up - literally only to open the gate faster. If you get to the point where the gates are powered you want to ensure you can open them
    • Sole Survivor - if the game seemed hopeless I would hide (not the entire game, once someone was dead and the other two Survivors had been hooked twice already or so and there were 3+ generators left to repair) and just wait for the Killer to close the hatch. Then quickly open the gate and run out.

I did the first 10 or so with Adrenaline instead of Sole Survivor but Adrenaline was only useful once so I dropped it for Sole Survivor.

An example of the !!!FUN!!! games you will have while doing this achievement:

Basement camping Leatherface, for some reason the other two Survivors ran down to go for an unhook even though they knew the Killer was camping because Kindred was active. Fortunately at least one of the two Survivors who ran down there also had Kindred, and it was the West Wing map (or East? the one where the side with the library is open). After everyone except me had died the Killer immediately opened the gate in the wing while I was waiting at the gate by the main entrance, and Sole Survivor + Wake Up was just enough to open the gate and get out in time.

I lived and got progress because I ran two selfish perks and because at least two other Survivors ran a perk that helps the team (Kindred). I should not be rewarded in this situation. But I was, with achievement progress.

Can you complete this achievement by playing casually? Yes, but it will take forever. You won't always get the map. When you do get the map you won't always survive until the gates are powered. If you survive until the gates are powered you might not be able to open them because other Survivors are doing that already or because you die to NOED. Or maybe the Killer disconnects when the gates are powered and you get no progress. And then you need to do this TWENTY TIMES.

Going for risky saves at the end of the game creates more fun for everyone: Someone might be saved and can participate actively in the game again, Killer gets to do something other than camp the hook, other Survivors can go help you and so on. With this achievement, if you are on one of the maps and can open the gate you just leave immediately. You can always play normally and have fun endgames on the other maps, but you can only get the achievement progress on two maps and when you have the chance to get the progress you should take it.

    The problems summarized:

    • Not fun to do for the person going for the achievement (not really a problem, you can just decide not to do it if you don't want to)
    • Less fun for all the other players in a match with someone who wants to do this achievement

When an achievement makes the game less fun for you when someone in your game is trying to do it then this is a bad achievement.

    Before (PTB to Live)

(Note: I cannot verify the accuracy of the numbers presented above or below, someone did manage to find the hitboxes and thus showcase how small they actually are.)

    After (Live to Better Version)

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/3GIBGEUY38H7/image.png

(Note: Intangibility was meant to be "invulnerability"; he should be sliding off of smaller objects that aren't around waist height just to make him play better. Just so this hitbox doesn't get too out of hand, this hitbox does not apply when The Mastermind grabs a Survivor, and the environment collision takes precedent over the invulnerability.)

(Additional Note: If the size of the hitboxes still happen to be too small, they should be increased until they feel right for both sides to play.)

Additional Problems that Should be Addressed

(Bold are bugs, italics are gameplay issues.)

    • The Mastermind currently has an issue going up or down slopes, primarily stairs. This does not happen with any other mobility Killer.
    • The Mastermind currently has an issue where he cannot activate his power within a meter of an object or ledge. This causes him to feel very clunky, especially in very tight loops.
    • The Mastermind's Virulent Bound chain bound duration is too short, leading to it not being used when the player wants to use it.
    • The Mastermind currently has an issue where grabbing a Survivor at a specific range to an object will cause that Survivor to bounce off and not be injured, despite becoming infected.
    • The Mastermind currently has an issue where he will sometimes go through Survivors while using the Virulent Bound.
    • The Mastermind currently has an issue where he can get stuck after grabbing a Survivor with Virulent Bound, especially when the Survivor throws a pallet down and that Survivor is on the same side as him.

How the Gameplay Issues Can be Addressed

    • Quality of Life: The Mastermind no longer has a range restriction when attempting to activate Virulent Bound near objects, walls or ledges.
    • Buff: The Mastermind can now leap off of ledges similarly to every other mobility-based attack (Demogorgon's Shred, Victor's Pounce, Hillbilly's Chainsaw).
    • Buff: The window which the Mastermind can perform the additional bound is increased from 2 seconds to 3 seconds.
    • Change: Egg (Gold) now increases the charge speed of Virulent Bound by 20%.
      • Since the original version of Egg (Gold) becomes base kit, it needs a new effect. A great effect to give it is to have it address the part of The Mastermind's kit that isn't affected currently in a small way.

If you want to address Wesker fast so more people can have fun playing as or against him, then this should help you figure out his key issues and change them so that he can be so much better.

Regarding the grab with immediate release and Survivor being infected without damage: Do you happen to know what happens if they are fully infected when this happens? Do they go down in that case or does it still just immediately release them?

In that case, I agree, it'd be much appreciated to get more common feedback on well-reasoned suggestion threads.

I'd just hope people wouldn't construe "we see this" as "we're gonna do this."

There is a "BHVR Read" reaction (basically upvote that is only available to staff) but that doesn't get used anymore for unknown reasons. It is perfect for showing that feedback was read without committing to anything.

I asked about why it's not used anymore, but the thread was ignored:

Especially really obvious ones like the Chaser emblem progress not working, which is very easy to notice and replicate because it happens literally every match.

Then again that could explain why the various problems with his power exist: Maybe during internal tests they never use the power and only go for basic attacks? Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

    Stupid RPD.

Achievement progress, on Steam at least, doesn't update immediately. Try to restart the game and check your progress again, it should be showing +1 progress then.

Also note that escaping is not enough, you have to open a gate and THEN escape. As in, you yourself have to open a gate.

    She needs to get killswitched.

Has a licensed Killer ever been killswitched? Maybe it can't be done because the license doesn't allow it.

The situation seems very similar to the Clown one where it does not make the game unplayable, just gives an advantage. It makes no sense not to use the killswitch.

But I think that bans issued by the DBD team actually show on steam. Both the support and the EAC can ban, so I guess that the former counts as steam ban.

There are VAC bans and game bans. DBD would show as a game ban. I don't think you can get a VAC ban from DBD because it doesn't use VAC.

This is what the messages look like on the Steam profile:

Sharing codes has always been against the rules of this platform, it's not a new rule. The message is there on the top of the forum only because people were trying to share codes and is a reminder that it's not allowed here.

The forum rules say that trade posts are banned. I don't think it's very obvious that this includes gifting or posting codes. It might be a good idea to update the forum rule to "Any form of trade posts or sharing codes will be removed" to clarify that.

Same here. I'm a little hesitant to claim it on the vague hope this was an error, but if anyone needs it, let me know and I'll have a code up for grabs.

Seriously, SMH. They just released a 4-skin pop collection. Why didn't they take one of those for Prime? Or Haddie's missing outfit recolor? Or wherever the Dredge's Rare skin from release went? Or why not recolor the Maiden Guard outfit, if they really had nothing else to offer right now?

At the very least, set it up to give iri shards if people already have the outfit, when you're rereleasing something directly from a rift...

This is the one Plague outfit I want but dont have. Dont have Prime so I cant really get it... but since a lot of people seem unhappy by it, getting a code might not be difficult.

Was hoping it would just end up in the shop so I can buy it with Iri-Shards though.

My guess is that it won't ever come back after this. Obviously this isn't confirmed but re-re-releasing (the Prime code being the re-release) it would sort of "devalue" this Prime release which seems like something that would be avoided.

  • It is literally the exact the same outfit from the battlepass. I though it might at least have a new description or name (or rarity) to differentiate it from the old outfit. But if you have the old outfit then you literally can't redeem the code.

I hear Overwatch 2 is going to require a phone number verification to play. May not be a bad idea in Dead by Daylight. But BHVR probably won’t ever do that, because lost money from cheaters buying new accounts.

Hackers used to be able to abuse the automated disconnect bans to get streamers banned. There have also been reports of DDOS, doxxing and swatting. It would take roughly 5 seconds after phone number verification is added to the game for every player's phone number to end up on literally all of the scam call center call lists because someone finds a way to abuse the system and extract them.

    πŸ¦†πŸ¦‚

  • Better method (because it doesn't require you to AFK which is against the rules):

Use NOED + Insidious. Play the game normally. Then defend NOED with Insidious. Optionally combine with Blood Warden (open the gate first), Deerstalker, A Nurse's Calling or Knock Out or any combination of those. Or end the game with Devour Hope, though that is less reliable.

I mean it is an anticheat, but it is also on BHVR as they control the anticheat. Like you said the system should track flying people etc. And auto ban instantly but it doesn't

    • Hacking Killer downs you
    • Picks you up
    • Flies around the map
    • Now you are getting banned too

Automated permabans are bad but it should absolutely flag relevant accounts so they can be investigated by a human, and then banned.

Guild Wars 2 (and maybe 1) has a system where staff can join instanced maps, observe and ban people who abuse exploits etc. Dedicated servers should make something similar possible for Dbd. If an account gets flagged staff should be able to observe when that person next plays and then ban them if they witness something bannable going on.

Better solo experience, thanks to pings (but built-in voice chat helps too). You don't lose as the killer role because you were playing against three good players and one person holding M1 the entire game who didn't even interact with you.

Definitely less than I've played in the last 4 years. I think I'm just looking for something with more competitive matchmaking. I win 90+% of my killer games when I know I'd win maybe 50% if I was matched correctly like day 3 of the matchmaking tests. And the challenge on survivor doesn't feel organic. I die more often because of teammates than anything the killer did. I'm a bit bored.

See above if you want a harder game. Matchmaking fails sometimes but overall the experience is much more enjoyable if you can handle losing and don't expect to get even a single kill every game.

    Countless Windows?

One of the reason why this Map has so many Pallets is because there are almost no Windows.

Off the top of my head, the following windows exist:

    • freezer room
    • meat chute
    • maze tile with pallet, of which two or so spawn
    • L-T maze tile, of which I think one spawns
    • that one vault by one of the gates that is pretty useless and everyone forgets exists

Every other map probably has roughly twice the number of vaults on average.

In which case, sick, I take it back. The phrase "negative remark" however is hardly what we in the industry call descriptive, and leaves the door wide open for interpretation. From knowing OP made a "negative remark", we can infer nothing specific- they could've gone from "Chris looks like a horse" to some horrific slur. And since OP hasn't clarified on their matter (I checked, couldn't see anything in the comments or an edit to the original post as of yet), we simply cannot know.

But even if they said nothing, my point still stands. They show regret for the consequences but not for the action itself.

I like how you say we can't know what was said while at the same time assuming they didn't show any regret in the apology that was sent.

This is between OP and the stream moderators. I don't get why unrelated people feel the need to interject themselves and make really weird assumptions about what was or wasn't said.

Take a protection hit. Heal. Next time someone goes down contest the hook. Killer hits you once, doesn't know you have MoM active now, hits you again, you don't go down and the Survivor they were carrying escapes. Ideally you want to run Breakout as well.

    πŸ¦†πŸ¦‚

  • To stop players from climbing on stuff they shouldn't be able to and then holding the game hostage.

Due to the randomness of map generation these barriers are added as a safety measure. Even if there won't always be stuff to climb on there still might be sometimes.

    πŸ¦†πŸ¦‚

  • Could it be that the bonus is based on the global player population? If you consider all regions then there may not be enough Survivors. But for your region specifically there are too many Survivors and not enough Killers.

    πŸ¦†πŸ¦‚

  • To be honest I am a little confused why people are saying voice chat should be added to the game. To clarify: I am / was not suggesting that, nor do I think it's necessary.

Improving the solo experience to be closer to players with voice chat is something that I think should be done. This is also something the developers want to do. From that I think it's fair to say that Survivors in general / on average are not at the level of power they should be at.

An example for why the powerlevel that Survivors should have / are currently at matters: You are making a new Survivor perk. You need to adjust the numbers. It makes a difference whether you think that literally every Survivor is on voice chat and using it to talk about the game always (one extreme of the scale) or literally no Survivor is ever on voice chat and everyone is always solo (the other extreme). In reality where Survivors are powerwise is somewhere in the middle. Where is that point and what should it be in the future?

Devs don't have a say. They cannot control it, so you may as well say "it's fine we don't care". That's why they say that, I mean seriously people let's grow up.

Same goes for hardcore camping, they don't want it, they even try to balance to avoid it. But they can't without destroying the player base with unfair rules for Killers. Solution: say it's just "intended" and all good, yet the old actual 'facecamping' was quickly fixed once they had the chance.

I don't understand what you mean. That livestream is from shortly before launch. They went into launch with the expectation that players will use voice chat (once SWF is implemented). What does that have to do with allowing/banning voice chat?

Your actual friends - typically - will speak your language. Assuming that's not the case it's beyond stupid if you ask me, and just a way to deviate from the actual topic.

Does Voice Communication provide an edge against many killers ? Does it give an advantage versus no comms?

If the answer is yes, then adjust the perks accordingly or we must be honest with ourselves and admit a good chunk of players are essentially cheating. People don't like the word, I get that but...

You are looking at it wrong.

    SWF gives no advantage.

Being solo gives you a disadvantage.

The powerlevel of SWF is what it should be. Balance discussions should be about Killers that are too weak / disadvantaged when playing against SWF and solo Survivor players having too much of a disadvantage.

Note that at the beginning there is a question about playing ranked mode together to which the answer is no. (This is not the question from the timestamp!) That is not about SWF but about what ranked KYF would be. That might be where the confusion about whether or not SWF was planned is coming from.

The problem with Spine Chill is that it prevents stealth killers from using their power. The action speed bonus nobody cares about. The vault speed bonus is a biggie. The counterplay to spine chill is to avoid looking at the gen/survivor.

Can't count the number of times I've approached a gen as Ghostface only to watch the survivors sprint burst away.

Another problem is that you can't reliably tell who, if anyone, has it.

Maybe the Survivor running away has Spine Chill. Maybe someone else saw you and told them on voice chat you are coming.

If you could somehow tell if someone has it then moonwalking is good counterplay. But that would require some new kind of mechanic that reveals perks. It's just easier to go through with the rework / update.

I found this image, because a perk page have 15 perks x3 (if tier 3) 45.

    2 pages 90 perks (lvl1)

    3 pages 135 pekrs (lvl 2)

    And so on.

97 Killer perks * 3 = 291 perk levels, which gives +5 prestige. You will be at prestige 5.

107 Survivor perks * 3 = 321 perk levels, which gives +6 prestige. You will be at prestige 6.

Cheating is defined as breaking the rules. The rules are written by the devs. The devs say it’s allowed. So it’s not cheating, even by the dictionary definition you’re citing.

The rules, as written on the game rules page, can be read that way though. From that alone it's not clear if it's cheating but tolerated, or if it's not cheating (the latter being the case as clarified by MandyTalk; i.e. it's not cheating).

It might be worth it to rephrase that section in the game rules a bit to clear that up.

Why it matters: If it was considered cheating (emphasis on was, because it is not) then it wouldn't make sense to balance the game around it. It would affect how the game should be balanced and discussions about balance in general.

It could be anything as long as it's more or less unique (and short to not be disruptive), when I started those emojis were among my most recently used ones so I used them.

    > act like it is [normal]

Oh sweetie it is. And that's why this suggestion is also perfectly normal.

The only non-normal thing here is how defensive people are getting over things they say they don't care about (and how some seem to think that being non-binary is a sexuality).

Floods of rage isn't bad but it needs to be on a killer that can immediately react to the auras, like nurse or huntress

Grim embrace doesn't have a bad effect per se, but the numbers are too low. Going out of your way to hook every individual survivor should have a bigger pay off than what it has now.

The problem is that if you increase the duration of Grim Embrace too much then the Killer can just facecamp one Survivor to death safely while the others can't progress the game. The concept of the perk itself is a problem and it should probably be just reworked completely. It's unlikely to be salvageable in its current form.

  • I once facecamped a speedhacker who was trying to farm other Survivors off the hook. I got one hit when they unhooked someone and then managed to grab them as they were vaulting a window. This was years ago, seemingly back then it wasn't possible for them to unhook themselves and fly around the map.

It was very obvious that they were trying to farm the other Survivors, I stopped hooking them after a while to not kill them. Other than that I was trying to play as normally as possible to not ruin the game for the three Survivors who were playing normally. I always ignored the Survivor that was just unhooked by the speedhacker and went for another Survivor instead.

I want to emphasize that it was very obvious they were being farmed by the speedhacker. The speedhack was also extremely obvious. It was not a subtle increase, it was more like permanent Sprint Burst speed or even faster. All of them got unhooked by the speedhacker at one point. They all knew it was a speedhacker.

In the endgame chat the Survivors told me to kill myself because I was camping the very obvious speedhacker. The Survivors who were being farmed by a very obvious speedhacker whom I did not tunnel or camp and for whom I tried to play as normally as possible while trying not to kill them to not ruin their game. So that was great a great experience.

  • A lot of horrendously awful totem spawns + Survivors looking for the event "shrine"

Then they will just comment on your screenshots and reviews or whatever. Plus if you are not a streamer or whatever, no one will care about your profile, so why have it public?

Or contact your friends to tell them to tell you to ######### if your friend list is public.

It's great fun. Even if everything is private sometimes you get friend requests, presumably so they can access your profile in case you use the "Friends Only" privacy setting.

    Considering their chat censor? Yes.

Don't forget about the automated disconnect bans / penalties. Various streamers got falsely banned because it could be abused when it was first released.

It took multiple iterations to get it to a point where that doesn't happen anymore.

tentatively slated for release this summer.

+ summer in the Northern Hemisphere ends September 23.

Any date before September 23 would still be in the estimate, but it's just an estimate anyway and not a hard confirmation.

    πŸ¦†πŸ¦‚

Probably not because the estimate is summer, and summer starts June 21 in the northern hemisphere.

Most likely some time before September 23 but there is no hard confirmation.

  • Six years, we’ve been in The Fog. It’s surreal to reflect on those early days, where the playable characters totalled to four Survivors and three Killers.

It will be for all characters. Since its not charm or cosmetics, its probably some banner or character portrait in menu which can be applied to licenced characters as well

It pretty much has to be that or something that has nothing to do with the characters at all (such as currency). There is no way they negotiated a deal with all license holders to do something that modifies the licensed characters in any way (such as new lobby / campfire animations for example). Something like putting a border around the icon probably does not require permission from the license holder.
