That’s not even bannable, is it? Isn’t that the purpose of the DC penalty?
Exactly, but the report menu text remains unchanged.

I also like how the in-game report menu is encouraging you to make invalid reports. One of the categories lists ragequits as something you should report, but that's actually wrong. It's handled automatically.

So you guys still think its fine that your game promotes gameplay on killer side that makes a match annoying for everyone else?
That's not what they are trying to imply with that post I don't think. If something is super unfun then the solution is to fix it by changing the game.
A good example of this how the RPD library had hooks added due to Boil Over (I know you are talking about Killers playing in a way that is unfun for Survivors but the argument holds for both roles). There were 3 options:
- do nothing
- change the rules / add an exception to the rules and make going to that spot with Boil Over bannable
- fix the map so this is no longer possible
Doing nothing when something is super unfun for some players is obviously a bad choice. Changing the rules or adding exceptions / making certain actions bannable creates an administrative nightmare eventually.
The problem is really that there are a lot of issues that haven't been fixed for years, but that doesn't necessarily mean that these things are fine.

AFK pig does not hold the game hostage (in face the opposite). Library of pain could.
This does not mean I agree with it however.
AFK Pig is not holding the game hostage, correct. The RPD before the added hooks was also not holding the game hostage though, at least all the cases that I am aware of, going up there and becoming essentially unhookable with Boil Over.
The "Holding the game hostage" rule is very consistently applied:
- Is the game currently progressing? If yes, the game is not being held hostage.
- If no: Are you being prevented from contributing to making the game progress for a long time? If yes, your game is being held hostage.
Library was not holding the game hostage because as a Killer you could down people which causes the game to progress through their bleedout timer.
If you were a Survivor who did not go to the library, but whose teammates all did, then your game was also not being held hostage because you could repair generators. I don't know if you could report your teammates for not participating in the game normally but if that were the case then the report would be valid for that reason, and not because the game was being held hostage.
Regarding sitting in front of the boxes: Removing collision is a terrible idea because that disables valid uses of blocking Survivors into a corner, for example if the only other Survivor is currently dying on the hook. Even without collision as Pig you could just camp the box and attack anyone who comes near you and lock down one box that way.

It's amazing that a reporting system that would be embarrassing in the 90s is pretty much useless
I would wager that 75% of the user base has no idea all the extra steps they have to take to "properly" report someone and of the 25% that do know how to, I imagine 75% of them don't because it takes so long and feels like such a waste of our time that why bother.
It also has the added bonus that it is actively lying to the players and encouraging them to make invalid reports. Ragequitting is listed as a reason that you should report for, in one of the report categories. Game rules page says you should not report disconnects at all.

Wait.
So the devs are okay using disconnects as a gauge to tell which killers need nerfs, but won't let them count towards challenges and achievements??
That's fogged up
They are almost certainly using kill rates without disconnects as well, but kill rates are also not the only thing that are used for balancing.

Disconnects are not kills.
Otheriwse, I would have way more Tome challenges and Adept achievemnets completed by now.
In the past kills were included in the kill rates. Source (from 2019): https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/621461/#Comment_621461
We typically include DCs because people typically disconnect when they're losing. If you exclude DCs, you're excluding the matches where someone is doing so poorly that they rage quit. Removing any data at all will always skew things.
That argument still holds up and I am not aware of any confirmation that disconnects are no longer included.

It should not give you bonus wiggle, this was mistake. They buffed this perk with very wrong way. It was abusable, people told this already at PTB. And now they nerfed it.
It should have been strengthened in another way. Not bonus wiggle. But they did not this, anyway.
So what we had? Dead perk. What we have now? Dead perk. Why? Very situational. So BHVR did not anything good with this perk.
This is why i am upset.

Exactly this. It takes forever for perks to get reworks / updates outside of number changes. Boil Over had its one chance of getting an update, and now it likely won't get another one for years, if ever.

That's a good point! Hopefully they've added 4 hooks in there.
But it's probably only one and they will have just moved one from somewhere else to create another dead zone.
I just had one hook on the lower area, by the bookshelves, and one upstairs on top by the "walkway" area.

It being minor is literally irrelevant. There’s a reason the norm in games isn’t giving minor buffs to balanced mechanics for no reason. Yeah, it’s minor. It’s still unnecessary.
The mash wiggle is also more difficult to do perfectly. The skillchecks are very easy to hit (regular ones) and that guarantees perfect progress.
Maps / hook placements were almost certainly designed with the skillcheck wiggle in mind. Changing the progress you get has a decent chance to have more than a minor effect on the game.

How is Insidious a bully perk? Does that make Ghostface the ultimate bully killer? I don't get it.
In theory you could use Insidious for something like kicking a generator, walking behind a wall and waiting for Insidious to activate and then attack whoever came back to repair the generator. That's not what it's generally used for though. It sees use almost exclusively as a camping tool, often in the basement.
Just like Boil Over will likely not be used for anything other than abusing certain spots in certain maps.
They both have "legit" uses but they are generally used for unfun strategies.

So stuff like this wont happen, with 1 extra jigsaw box on the map,you wont have to worry about Pigs that use video tape addon and just afk camp in front of the last one.
By extra box, do you mean there should be an additional box that removes the trap? Otherwise all an extra box does is make it less likely for the Killer to camp the "correct" box.

A brown medkit having charges leftover happens if you hit a great skillcheck. If you hit only regular skillchecks (and don't miss any) then a brown medkit should heal for exactly one health state and become empty.

The match making basically doesn't exist because the ratio of survivors to killers is so skewed in one direction. The match making prioritizes speed over accuracy, so it will widen its parameters wider and wider until it is basically accepting anyone it can possibly find. This is because there's very very few killers in the queue. They don't want players waiting 8 hours for a match so the system will put together a match it knows is unbalanced solely so it can get a match started. The only way to fix that is to inject more killer players into the system. And that isn't happening any time in the near future.
The only way to fix that is to inject more killer players into the system. And that isn't happening any time in the near future.
It will happen for a few days when the next Killer releases. Eventually all those players then realize that learning a new Killer, while only having access to a very limited number of perks because you haven't levelled the character yet, against Survivors whose only interest is to end the game as quickly as possible even if they end up with ~10k points (including the points from escaping) is not fun and then the queue times return to what they currently are.

Well you get the event offerings plus the cosmetics but that’s it. Survivors get a toolbox and firecrackers to use
And it's relatively easy, fast and stress-free to get a lot of bloodpoints as Survivor in this event. If you just want to casually farm some points then Survivor is the better choice (emphasis on casually).

Clipping is a bad excuse as to why sets are needed. If you want to look more visually horrifying than most of the Killers as Survivor for example you can already do that. If you want to wear an outfit that clips and looks horrible then that should be a choice you can make.

This is the post, it's visible on the profile and apparently you can quote it. If I understand the thread merge correctly then all posts from the original thread should show up here, but this one doesn't.

Boil Over on Ormond, the upstairs area with the long path that leads to a hole in the wall with a pallet nearby. If you get downed up there, the Killer has to drop down, as walking back to the stairs would give even more than the 25% of progress.
A totem spawned nearby that let me heal myself with Circle of Healing. If someone goes down up there as Killer you either have to give them the 25% progress hit from dropping, or go down, break the totem, go back up and then try and hook or leave them downed. I could have had a medkit, in which case the option of destroying the totem doesn't exist. If you ignore them up there then they can just heal.

Was really fun, I just wish i knew which fog whisperer it was :/
She wore the red gown with the black mask and on hooks there were: a blue charm from... a tome I think, definitly a fog whisperer head and what looked like an oni mask.
So yeah, gg wp xp
(Me and my buddy were on console, so yeah... couldn't even give +rep on the steam account)
You can give props, it's "hidden" in the report menu, the leftmost option. That should work across platforms.

What's even worse is that they replaced the submit a ticket button with a chatbot thing. It's easier to use, i think, but i've tried it and on two separate occasions on two different it fails at the last step of reporting cheating, when you put your email in, after you type everything in a upload your gameplay. Super disappointing and exhausting. There's no excuse for it, BHVR just barely care about the issue.
You can still make a ticket if you have the link, bypassing the chatbot: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
I found the link through Google, "dbd support ticket". As this ticket form still exists and can be found through Google I think it's still okay to make tickets through this instead of the chatbot.

It takes queue times into effect, no? I would think it gradually expands as someone waits? In the extreme case when only the best killer in the world and the worst survivors in the world were available, you’d want them to play eventually, right?
Due to the nature of matchmaking, where there’s always going to be a difference in MMR, it would be nice if the game at least told the killer what the expected number of kills was for the match. If they get 0K/4K, they can at least know whether it was a particularly bad/good match for them or just matchmaking trying to shorten their queue time.
Other games solve this by showing you how your rating changes. Big positive rating change = you were outmatched and won a hard match, big negative rating change = the enemy was outmatched and you lost an easy match, and so on.
Of course we are not allowed to see our rating, or how it changes, because of reasons.

If you missed some rewards in The Rift, most of them will eventually be available in our in-game store after a minimum period of 6 months. (More details to be revealed at a later date.)

It's never been confirmed as to what would exactly come to the Store and on what date - hence saying a minimum of 6 months. I don't think anyone expected at that point to have been hit with a worldwide pandemic and have to spend most of 2020 working from home either.
We've all seen how many games have been put back through this year due to Covid, so I do think cosmetics not being placed into the store is a relatively minor issue for the time being.

There has never been a straight answer as far as I am aware. But there seems to be a strong implication that not all outfits will come to the store.

The only impression I've received so far from this talk about SWF and their powerlevel is that the devs want to buff solo survivors to be on a more equal footing with these premade groups, there isn't a single mention of killer buffs however. All of these balance decisions are made with the success of survivor players in mind, not even once did you show the willingness to consider what killers have to go through on a regular basis within the environment you've created. It's beyond me what kind of data you still want to gather if it's blatantly obvious how broken Circle of Healing is at this point. You need to act immediately, any further delays on this matter will only make it worse.
SWF escape rates may be at a level that is considered balanced and non-SWF is just lower. In which case no Killer buffs are necessary.
-
@konchok said:
What an overreaction. And let's be clear about something. As long as killers have unfair add-ons they can't receive buffs because it skews the stats. Pinky finger nerf is needed because it skews Clowns stats to the point where he looks balanced. Michael has the same problem. Fixing Pinky finger paves the way to future buffs.
It should be possible to filter out games where certain add-ons were used when looking at the stats, in cases where some add-ons clearly overperform.

Grim Pantry (maybe Pale Rose too) have new, glowing skulls added, in the live version. Most likely because of the upcoming visual rework for the swamp maps. Haddonfield and Red Forest maps haven't had visual reworks yet either, so my guess is that Swamp maps + Haddonfield are getting visual updates soon-ish and Haddonfield was disabled because it's in the process of being updated.

You kicked the hornet nest, and now their blood is in your hands. That's the truth.
What hornet's nest? Are there going to be racist hornets wearing Klan robes?
Yes racist people can still tunnel or camp. But the difference is that it won't be as obviously due to racism. It makes it harder to spread their hate.

Uhmm, actually no it doesn't. Smart face is not a "tool", it's just a mask, they can be racist with any character or stuff. A mask removal is not removing a tool, this is only to appeal to those who believes in changing the world with the keyboards when the world out there is set on fire.
It makes it harder to be openly racist, which is important to those kinds of people. They want you to feel their hate. Without the mask they need to use chat or racist user names for example which makes it much easier to ban them quickly.

I don't see how people think this would magically fix racism. Like someone's going to go "oh no the mask's gone, now I can't do the exact same behaviour towards the exact same streamers!"
All this does is punish thousands of players who put in a lot of work to unlock the only gameplay-unlocked cosmetics in the game, alongside the literal handful of people who supposedly used them with bad intent.
It doesn't "fix" racism but it removes a tool for racist attacks and sends a signal that racism isn't tolerated.

Because that would be incorrect.
Also, I know not every generator is out in the open but if they have TR then you know they are going to you. There is virtually no way for a person to know exactly where the killer is going 100% of the time. Even in a SWF group.
I didn't say that. Survivors can know communicate which direction the Killer is going, for example after being hooked, which can negate stealth approaches by the Killer.

I mean, it’s not like you can’t see the killer coming from a mile away. You only need to pay attention and even if you are not certain because of LoS or so, you can still play it safe and have a plan on where you intend on running if the killer comes to you.
Survivors who have good map awareness know this.
Not every generator is out in the open and low / no TR Killers get screwed by comms if they use terrain to approach unseen.
