LMAO. I'm def gonna wanna be your killer teammate in 2v8 tommorow/this coming week XD. We'd be unstoppable

Im not that good on most of the roster and Jason probably isn't getting added to 2v8 yet. Hes really good at handling certain window loops that would NORMALLY be major pain points for other killers. I'd go as far as to say Jason has no bad map.

Also helps that sleeping bag gets slept on...no pun intended. They actually decided to BUFF it while its IMO his best addon.

this is actually super peak. Congratulations man! 86% KR Is absurdly impressive w/ the current game state

The vast majority of those escapes are actually from hatch since I generally dont slug for the 4k unless I see scratchmarks or something showing the last survivor. Jason's mobility is just nuts if you know how to utilize it. Maps like RPD become deadly.

  • This has been my Jason killrate and build for the past 30 days. I threw ALOT of games giving ppl escapes who brought cakes during the event, so this is excluding that.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while: wouldn’t it be a good idea to have DLC characters start at Prestige 1?

I’ve seen so many streamers who are new to the game quit because they struggle to unlock the perks they need.

Unlocking every perk from scratch requires around 100 million Bloodpoints (BP). At the very least, a new player needs around 10 million BP just to unlock the perks that most people use and equip them on their favorite character.

For a beginner, earning 10 million BP can take over 30 hours of gameplay, even when playing efficiently. Many players are likely to give up before putting in that much time.

Are you going based off getting all perks for both killer AND survivor?

  • That both sides are trying to win. A "non-competative" mode would essentially just be a sandbox mode where there's no gens or hookstates and such. Hop in, screw around and dip when you get bored.

  • Why are you spamming new threads? You've made 7 new threads in the last few hours and haven't bothered actually discussing anything on any of them.

  • No doubt there is alot of crappy perks, BUT I do like how sometimes you can find cool perk combinations. I was trying out the new Judgement aura perk on the PTB with nemesis. I usually dont get much use from Nemesis, so it was kind of neat having it with a perk that causes so many obsession changes. I feel like this could be fun to use it with other niche obsession related perks.

agreed, i play with high volume for footsteps and some of the screams are harsh, i get nothing out of having my hearing damaged by a horrid sound that does not enhance my experience

The AMOUNT is also a factor. Hearing your own scream for 2 times at most vs the killer hearing upwards of 8.

  • If you want it as a toggle option so it only effects those who select it, then sure. Personally I DONT want a long screaming sound in my ear for every hook.

  • You DO have bot custom matches as an option for practicing new characters. This let's you get use to the ability as well as try out builds you haven't unlocked yet without using up addons.

  • @GentlemanFridge said:

    This is an asymm.

There’s 4 of the same interest, versus 1 with the other.

Unless the Killer’s choice weighs heavier, survivors will always win if they unite

Was just thinking that. Maps that are killer sided would literally NEVER get selected. The devs probably dont wanna get put in a spot where they spend time and resources making a map, just for its usage rate to be 0.

especially now with this year being rough everyone who’s been criticizing bhvr are all apparently doomer X main who just hate on the game for views now

People downvote for anything. My first comment on this thread was a QUESTION and got downvoted…

  • Oh, lol. I got 4 downvotes for pointing out where the screenshot came from so im guessing that guy isn't well liked.

Idk when they stop all modes to bring closer to 2v8 where survivors are heavily favored because thats not great thing in all modes but devs well (dont care).

on the wiki it says 32 meters. which is double the current area at 16 meters.

Thats a screenshot of a video I just watched on the topic. Apparently the anticamp is going up even if the killer is chasing other survivors too.

    https://youtu.be/Ynvgk3Grug8?is=Zf6gPe6rrg2ZEMxn
  • @MoZo said:

it’s a necessary evil. the devs said themselves on the recent AMA that proxy camping and tunneling were way to effective in the earlier iterations of Lights Out. now we have increased anti-camp and extended unhook Endurance duration to counteract the mass camping and tunneling. sure it sucks if you don’t intend to camp, but it needs to be there for those who do want to camp in the dark by a hooked survivor all game.

Exactly how large was the area made? Is this punishing killers being on the wrong side of the map if they dont immediately find a new survivor to chase in the dark?

  • I'd recommend you play some practice games against bots. You're not gonna get taunted by bots and this'll let you get the hang of things.

Ooh right, yh I'd heard that. Just didn't realise you meant that context. Tbh idk if richtofen would need the white eyes, dudes a sociopathic psycho, he'd probaby wholeheartedly start killing survivors for giggles.

Im just imagining him seeing everyone as zombies. Maybe he'll say lines like "oooh, double points...yes" when he uses exposed.

pretty much it’s the theory that killers with white glowing eyes like Wraith, Spirit, and Deathslinger are being influenced by the entity to see what it wants them see to motivate them. This was further confirmed in Oni’s tome.

If we use THAT theory... we're abit more free on who we get for the killer role.

This isnt a daily ritual. Its an rift or event quest. And those are totaly fine.

    Were talking about the dailies

  • I feel like alot of these kinda need you to go with a "typical" playstyle. As someone who uses ruin alot rather than kicking gens, the dmg X gens challenge can take multiple matches as well as the pallet break challenge depending on who im playing.

    Gets hit by killer/hooked

"Aaaaahhh it tickles, mein gott it tickles"

    Damn i miss cod zombies.

Ever heard of the glowing eyes theory?

  • Can you imagine getting Richtofen as a dbd character complete with voice lines?

didn’t survivors just have the most unbalanced event in dbd history with invincible teleportation and unbreakable pallets? Whilst the only thing killers got was a one button ability?

Im not talking balance. You cant have a gamemode where only 1 side has anything different because then the other side has 0 reason to even queue up.

  • Keep in mind that something like "3rd person view killer mode" wouldn't really work unless they ALSO had something new for survivors too. If the mode is just default gameplay for 1 side, there's no reason for that side to join the event queue.

  • @cammoking123 said:

My opinion? Stop trying to force people to play games when they clearly aren't having fun. Don't force a killer to play with a bully squad. Don't force a survivor to play with a killer tunneling and slugging at 5 gens. Anti-quit was supposed to make the game "better", but in reality all it does is make people miserable.

The problem is you legit have ppl who constantly ragequit at the slightest inconvenience. Tunneling and sandbagging becomes meaningless rants that get thrown out at everything.

    @AliceNull said:

This is just the result of BHVR baffling and harmful long standing refusal to do what every other game with matchmade teams does. As much as the solo queue experience has gotten in some ways tremendously better over the years, one of the biggest problems has always been the people allowed to queue up with the express intent of no longer playing the game the moment something doesn't go their way.

Just. Ban. These. People. Every other matchmade team game does it, and DBD has always been for the worse for not following suit.

They provide nothing positive to the playerbase, they are landmines in the queues ruining the ability to even play out a full match for no other reason than wanting to throw a tantrum, and if they started seeing week+ long timeouts for regularly DCing or giving up, they'd either leave, or start actually playing out their matches. Both of which would be an improvement either way.

Just watched this gem and somehow it never goes beyond 15 minutes...

  • @Arcturus said:

That would be an astronomical buff. It essentially would guarantee that every down would completely counter every unhook perk in the game along with flashlight and pallet saves. I don't think we should be aiming for survivors to have a random chance to have their entire builds deemed unusable

In all fairness, alot of perks get countered by random things and this isn't likely to counter the WHOLE build but maybe 1 or 2 perks. Blastmine for example constantly gets countered by me since I generally let ruin or surge handle regressing gens rather than kicking.

  • Unfortunately recording gameplay isn't easy for everyone to do. On my PS5, I can save footage from the match I just finished if it had something notable. I cant really do that on my Switch...

  • @SkeletalElite said:

I've been saying this for a long time now. Numbers changes can be done by one guy, probably wouldn't take more than 10 minutes per perk to pull up the data of the least used perk and buff numbers on several of them for each side. If the perk is insanely broken it can just be toned back/reverted after PTB. If it's anything less than that, let the changes go through. If it changes the meta, let it change the meta. If that meta turns out to be stale/boring after a month or so, it can be reverted in a later patch instead.

These don't have to be comprehensive reworks that can be saved for more dedicated balance updates. Just a handful of perk changes in every chapter and midchapter, regardless of what's shipping alongside it.

That sounds great if we look at the perks in a vacuum, but often times its the combinations with other factors that cause the issues. Lend a hand for example is a decent effect, but not game breaking... but the devs probably didnt think about conviction when designing it and how survivors can get up again in the time it takes a killer to do a wipe animation all of a sudden with certain builds. The individual perks effects are fine if you look at them in a vacuum, but crazy things happen when you start combining.

I agree that changing base game mechanics to work differently for different killers would not be the most popular solution. But given the fact each new killer has more and more at their disposal, the imbalance is only getting worse. Aura reading on Nurse and now the Judgment is of course way too strong, and you can't rely on players to be 'nice' or play fair by not equipping them. Maybe something like those killers have 50% shorter aura read would help in some way. Who knows.

You can TRY to keep patching away uneven power spikes on random killers, but they really do just keep popping up. Nemesis+PWYF was really potent on OG bubba on Oni's release. They had to nerf STBFL cuz of its effect on killers like Pig funny enough. A relatively recent one was Turn back the clock comboed with one of Wraith's brown addons. Alot of times "nerfs" just introduce new headaches too. They increased the TR of blight and Billy for example, which just ended up boosting the effectiveness of perks like infectious fright.

Agree kinda … guarding totems with cams as singularity can be dealed with with empa and artist crows are a project that don’t even stop your action. A better example would be something like Jason, because you can’t stop him just seeing you and appear. If we had more changes that would consider this and find solutions for them, it would be great.

The main defense of gens in those cases is simply detection. You need the killer to not interrupt you and if you EMP a cam... they know your making a move.i suppose I could've used Doc as an example since he can shock at a really large range and often enough to never give you a chance with TOTH.

  • @HexFelix said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4106000#Comment_4106000

For example Nurse heavily restricting Aura perks, you simply could nurse the blindness effect while charging her power because perks like awakened awareness and Nowhere To hide suffer because of her. Another reason for more changes

Thats a possible solution for that particular problem, but theres plenty of others. We have several killers that are good at guarding totems. Do we make singularity cameras see a black box around the totems and Artist crows scared to fly near them?

Here's an interesting one I saw recently. All shaking thunder is kinda garbage most of the time since you're kinda relying on taking a chase near a drop-off. If you use it on someone like Freddy however, you can trigger it and teleport across the map to USE it which kinda negates its drawback.

  • One thing that should be noted is often times when it comes to at least KILLER perks... something that is mildly good on one killer is problematic on another. Haywire for example is in its current mediocre state because Singularity could effectively use it to insure no one could open a gate with its original state.

Beyond that, we have so many perks and addons that you always run the risk of combos making them far stronger than they were intended and it can be difficult for any one person to predict every possible combo everytime they add more stuff to the game.

  • Not only do you have to figure out how to do her slingshot attack, but you have to manage it one handed.

Don't get me wrong, I 100% support that killers should not feel awful or impossible to play on console cuz that's just bad (every killer should be playable on console without bad feelings). I just don't wanna see The Judgment getting unnecessary buffs that make it easier to play just because it will have a low pickrate or casuals want something easier. As mentioned before, we already had this problem with Krasue and Singularity and this is just bad for both sides.

At no point did I suggest the killer should be buffed. From what im hearing, the killer is rough either way and I just was saying I personally will probably plug in my mouse when I wanna give it a try.

Personally, I'm excited to have a killer with high skill floor and ceiling again but I can understand that this scares many casual players away and it feels a bit weird that a community killer is not that accessible.

Based on your message, it seems like you're fine with the high skill floor and ceiling, but I'm still worried about a Krasue or Singularity situation where the killer is more on the difficult end and you decide to make them easier, which ends up in a killer that is extremely oppressive and easy to pick up. Killers like these are extensively unhealthy for the game. In case of Krasue, it ruined the fun for me when you overbuffed her on live release into a monster (everyone was playing her and everyone was giving up against her) and then did some emergency nerfs that made her weaker but also unpleasant to play - nearly one year later, still in a bad spot. Me and Krasue found love in a hopeless place again but it's still sad to see characters that got so much promo and a good build around in such a sad place.

I hope you, the developers, will do better this time, do the right decisions, and won't drop the killer after two months, so The Judgment won't end up in a bad spot like Krasue.

This might actually get me to go find my mouse, lol. PS5 HAS kb/m support, but I dont usually use it cuz I like to be able to sit further away from my console. I have a little lap desk thing JUST for this sort of thing that might be getting some use now.

Not with those no it's more like a slingshot almost like you're casting a line then turning around and yanking it back over your shoulder.

The crosses you can do in front you just have to give yourself space and stay back a little.

Unfortunately im a console player, so I can only watch videos for now and wait til it hits live. Definitely gonna dump 5mil BPs in on day 1 though.

Yeah but I'm getting the hang of it, in loops at least it's a funny image but because the timing of when you start the flick matters I like imagining I'm summoning a blight with only two rushes. I start the beam as I turn the corner aiming it at the nearest wall a blight would bounce off of and then I turn the corner and cast and it's almost like you're preflicking because instead of cast turn turn you're just casting and turning and it makes it easier to keep the survivor in sight too.

Are you doing the cross with it?

Jason may not be able to get grabs like Springtrap, but grabs off of generators become less and less common as you go up in MMR, as that's only common with new survivor's that aren't very aware (especially because Springtrap's footsteps are so loud). Jason gives no warning of where he is in OE (unless he moves the grass, but honestly it moves so fast that it doesn't give you much extra time for distance) which makes it infinitely easier to close distance with survivors off rip. With Springtrap, either you come out of a door next to them, which gives them warning so they usually are able to get quite a bit of distance, or you come out of one further away, not only wasting precious time that Jason doesn't have to, but often times there aren't enough obsticles to block you from view and the survivors are able to take distance anyways, or at the very least, again, his footsteps are so loud that the survivors can hear him coming. With Xeno, its even more of a weakness and even harder to miss, as the turrets give a constant measure of how close the killer is, making stealth almost useless and giving lots of warning to survivors.

Jason may not have "stealth" in that he can silently creep up on you until he's breathing down your neck, but he has "stealth" in that he goes completely invisible, making it almost impossible to know he's coming until he appears behind you. Jason goes invisible and can appear in so many places across the map he could basically appear anywhere, so I would still somewhat consider this a stealth ability. Both Springtrap and Xenomorph have 7 distinct places that they can pop out of, so their map mobility ability is not a stealth ability.

I will give you the haste, as obviously because of Diminished Returns, unless BHVR changes it so that it does not effect killer powers in the upcoming perk patch, Jason can't effectively utilize haste perks. However, I don't really see this as a huge downside. Yeah, Springtrap or Huntress would be a bit stronger in chase with Batteries because they could go 4.6 while using projectiles, but Jason essentially gets the same amount of haste on demand from the beginning of the game for free. If Jason could use Batteries on top of that to get, for example, the 5% haste from Batteries as a 4.6 killer with a projectile, could you imagine how incredibly powerful that would be? Just to get the same level of haste, Springtrap or Huntress would have to run Batteries when Jason does not, and then they would be effected by Diminished Returns the same as Jason so more perks would have the same issue as he does. The only difference is that Jason does not have to use a perk slot for the same effect. So in the end, I don't really see that as a weakness.

I feel like you missed the biggest part of the haste point. If you get 10% haste on a 4.4 killer, your now moving at 4.84 m/s. Tack on Jason's built in haste and after Diminished Returns, your at 4.94 m/s. If you used that same haste perk on Springtrap... he'd alternate between 4.84 m/s and 5.06m/s. Ppl really screw themselves up when they start doing math with "110% + 10%= 120%". A 10% speed boost gives a different benefit based off the base killer speed.

Once again though... im not interested in breaking down every interaction where Jason has an advantage or where Springtrap has an advantage. Im just pointing out that they have different advantages.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4105066#Comment_4105066

I didn't think of Unknown so that's my bad, although their map mobility abilities are extremely different from one another. I haven't played Jason a ton but I did play him for the adept and for some archives that suited him

Alot of the playstyle is actually quite different between the various killers, but ppl like to oversimplify things. Jason's stealth...isn't much of stealth but rather just mobility. That would be like comparing Xeno WHILE hes in his tunnels or Springtrap WHILE hes in his doors. Jason is never gonna get surprise gen grabs unless he brings perks or addons that grant stealth. His gameplay is much more aggressive. Springtrap actually has more room for stealth plays since you get a decent amount of undetectable after you cross the map. A play I would recommend is dont go to the door you know a survivor is by if you wanna make a stealth play, but try a door nearby.

Theres also a key point to make about the speeds. Jason is a 4.4 killer that is granted haste to get 4.6 speeds, while Springtrap toggles back and forth 4.4 and 4.6 without haste. If were talking about basekit alone, there's no real difference. There IS difference though when we bring sources of haste into play. If you run batteries included for example on both killers, itll result in a bigger boost for Springtrap. Your getting a 5% boost on 4.4 on Jason as opposed to 5% on 4.6 .This is then stacked on Jason's diminishing returns.

Im not gonna pick it apart any more, just wanted to really showcase... these 2 have there own strengths and weaknesses that SHOULD affect how you approach their gameplay. If you're trying to play them the same exact way, you're missing out.

  • I have a tendency to go on sprees with different killers. I'd play 1 killer for awhile before swapping to something else. This could be for a week, this could be for several months. At other times though, I just kinda play whatever I feel like. I watched an Ohtofu video the other day about Pig and got the urge to play a quick Pig game.

  • 2 things...

    A. Unknown was the first ranged killer with a map mobility skill

    B. Have you played Jason much?

  • I can only speak for myself, but generally ill slug if either I have an idea where the 4th survivor is due to scratch marks that'll disappear if I hook... or if the standing survivor used a secret offering. I'd much rather hook the secret offering guy and both me and the last survivor have a CHANCE at hatch than the secret offering guy be the last one alive and basically guarantee an escape cuz it was a hatch offering.

Even if they get a competitive advantage (killers with high ping) by doing so? Ideally everyone should get equal access to the game, but at some point, accommodating a small minority of players becomes so much of a negative impact to the experience of to the vast majority that we have to draw the line.

You cant sell a product to people who dont live near the servers, then deny those people access to use said product. If you dont want Martians playing the game, dont sell to Martians.

  • Its possible that we get the license again, and its also possible we can get it WITHOUT the Halloween game failing. We're had a similar case before with Demo's chapter being removed for awhile before getting readded. Bubba also starred in the TCM game without any problem with the license being used for DBD.
