@Pugpablo123 I'm a killer main, and to be honest I think both the ebony mori and instaheal item should removed. Neither adds any value to the game, and causes too many people to get tilted and DC as it is.
At this point, wipe them from the game.

@ShrekIsHot I live in Maryland, in Baltimore County. Unlike Baltimore City (a homicide capitol of the U.S.), we don't have many gun incidents in the county. Now, I have three adult kids aged 26, 21, and 19 who all graduated already, but also a 9-year-old in the 4th grade.
He's well aware of what goes on in the world, and already wants to go into law enforcement to stop "serial killers and people who blow people up." Obviously, then, FBI, I'm thinking. Anyway, even when the school was hiding the reasons for the drills, he knew off the bat that they were Active Shooter Drills.
Baltimore County schools have what's called a School Resource Officer in all schools, regardless of grade levels for the school. They're on-duty Baltimore County Police Officers stationed in the school. In their office is a secured gun cabinet, and inside are several firearms, including tear gas and a gas mask and tactical shotguns.
They don't mess around to protect the kids.
They also keep the same officer in the same school all year long, and often year after year. So they also build a rapport with the students. And from what they told me, they volunteer for the post. So, being with the kids is something they want to do. It isn't a forced assignment.
-
@ShrekIsHot Wow. I graduated high school in 1990, so things were way different back then. We were supposed to use "see-through backpacks" starting with the 1988 school year (I was a Junior). We all basically said: get bent, used our normal backpacks, and they didn't do anything.
Of course, back then people weren't bringing guns to school, either.
But yeah, I can imagine that built your arm and back strength. 😁

@Spooky13 Peanits has stated, and they also announced on their Twitter yesterday, that the matches are being populated that way because the matchmaker is bugged at the moment. It's throwing all sorts of ranks together into a match. They've identified the issue and are working on a hotfix.

What was done instead? Did you replace it with some like soft little blow up hammer?
@ShrekIsHot Basically. He had a small arsenal of "fake weapons" that he would use when the Ref wasn't looking. He just couldn't use the actual, thick plastic milk crate anymore.
It was one of these things. Somehow, he always caught the people with the edge of it just right that it would cut them open.
He would use it to carry his gimmicks to the ring, then use it as a weapon. I banned the second use.
-
@Mochan Yeah, seems whatever adjustment they made wasn't consistent across players, and especially across platforms. I was getting correct matchmaking, and my killer queue dropped time, but my survivor queue time increased slightly.
Post new DLC, it's all bugged again. Hopefully a hotfix comes today. Otherwise, I'm just going to skip this weekend and maybe keep messing around in Overwatch even after I unlock the Brick Bastion event skin going on right now.
-
@TheUnendingNightmare I need to play Freddy more. Haven't messed around with him yet since the rework, and didn't play him much before then so he's only level 17.
I've just been working on getting all Pig's teachables unlocked, along with Discordance on Legion and Thrilling Tremors on Ghostface (since I finally bought him). I'm just going to wait for the shrine for PGTW, because I am not pumping all that BP into Clown to get him to Level 40.
I've been playing the guys I have BBQ tier 3 on, and Freddy doesn't have it at all, yet.
-
@ShrekIsHot Back in those days, we could have done those backstage skits like that. Only . . . yeah . . . this guy had to have the crate retired. 😁
-
I'm much more interested in the hotfix to the matchmaking bug that they're working on at the moment. So, would like to know about that as well, and crossing fingers.
-
I always play for BP because I am still unlocking stuff, so also always run BBQ and Thrill of the Hunt when I can.
I will actually let three escape sometimes because I don't want to rank up too fast before I get some builds unlocked on a few killers.
-
@TheUnendingNightmare Exactly. And you can tell when they're new because the tells are obvious.
But, oh my god, I wish I could have seen that match. I'm actually laughing just thinking about those Vets trying to bully you, and then wasting all the pallets and not realizing that they were doubly screwed due to no pallets plus your fake pallets.
Absolutely priceless!
-
@TheUnendingNightmare I've hovered around Rank 12 or so before. I don't play much due to very limited gaming time, and will be away for months on top of that, so you can imagine how often I am reset back to gray ranks.
Anyway, I'm rank 19 right now due to that (just came back right before the reset). The other night, I was running a killer I don't usually play and only slotted the one Perk on him because I only had one slot open. He was level 1.
I had a Rank 10 and the other three were all Rank 18-20. The rank 10 was really annoying with t-bagging and his flashlight on every loop. I finally caught him for a hook. On the second down, I slugged him and made sure to keep the other three busy so they could not revive him. I made him bleed out. I focused on him because I could tell he knew what he was doing, and the other three weren't hitting skill checks on gens to save their lives.
The other three, I quickly realized, were brand new based on how they played, so I finally got them to understand and we farmed around a little bit. Then I let them complete gens and escape. They all ended up with 25k+ BP.
Anyway, can you image that Rank 10's reaction on the after-match board when he saw me as Rank 19 with 1-Perk and no add-ons. I wonder if he thought he just got schooled by a newbie? 😂
-
@pootis_Bear Way back in the late 1990s to early 2000s when I owned an independent wrestling company here in the U.S., one of my guys with some clown or mime gimmick (I forget which) always hit people with a plastic milk crate.
Problem was, he didn't know how to pull the hit right (we tried to teach him, he was unteachable), and ended up actually busting a couple of the guys open at the top of their forehead. After the third guy bled, I had to step in and nerf the crate: it was never allowed to be used again.
I firmly believe that crate was a distant cousin of DbD pallets. 🤣
-
@TheUnendingNightmare Whatever higher-up believes that this community is helpful once a match actually begins obviously needs to play a heck of a lot more. 😂
-
@Peanits Thanks for helping him out. I'm purely a PC gamer and don't own any consoles, so I didn't have any knowledge of how it worked. What you answered was my assumption, but I didn't want to just give him an assumption.
-
@TheUnendingNightmare That's what I thought. Typically people just say "I was reset back down to . . ." I wasn't sure if you meant that, or being synced with lowbies via matchmaker.
If you were Rank 1 reset to Rank 20, that was several months of not playing. So yeah, that'll happen. And it's stupid that a Rank 1 can get reset all the way to 20. There should be a limit, for example: A rank 1 can never go below Rank 10.
-
@Peanits Sorry to tag you, but trying to help out @Batmanvlad456
Do you have any knowledge as to why the current DbD sale on the PS4 platform isn't available in Romania?
-
@Batmanvlad456 Now I understand. Thanks for explaining that. What country are you in, if you don't mind me asking?
-
@Batmanvlad456 Gotcha. Now, in your OP, you just mentioned the new DLC. Just want to point out that the new DLC isn't on sale. It's only available for full-price of $11.99 (or whatever that is in your currency) because it just released.
It won't go on a discount for a while yet.
-
@TheUnendingNightmare What do you mean by "sync down?"
-
@Batmanvlad456 Do you mean the base game isn't on sale in your country? Because if you just mean the Stranger Things DLC (as in, you already own the base game), the new DLC is not on a sale discount. Just all DLCs up to Ghostface.
-
@Zagrid I know last week or so Peanits said they made some adjustments. Which, at least for me on PC, got my matches back to normal unless they were an obvious SWF exploiting the fact that whoever creates the SWF is the defining rank for the killer in the match.
But once the DLC launched, I was back to pot-luck on matchmaking again.

@jackkn12 Peanits commented on it earlier today. Matchmaking is bugged, they found the issue, and hope to have a hotfix out as soon as they can.

Heard people claiming that there would be one this weekend, but no official word.
I wouldn’t count on it honestly, for this weekend at least. There’s still time in the month if they decide to start up an event.
@SeekerOfSouls @BembridgeScholars It begins September 26th at 11am ET.
Scroll down to September 26th: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/88719/september-2019-activities-releases#latest

@nichtRoxas Well, just so you understand, when Dedicated Servers come around and they can more easily monitor things, they already stated that there will be stricter punishments for DC'ing.
It'll probably be like most games where you get a set amount (typically not a lot) and then you start getting punished with escalating time-outs where you can't queue for matches, and if you keep it up after that, bans that escalate into an eventual perma-ban.
So, come Dedicated Servers, those who DC enough are getting punished faster.
They did warn that the DC punishment threshold changes will likely not happen with the initial dedicated server rollout, and will come afterward, but they are coming.
-
I don't really have an honor code in DbD, because in my personal cosmology that's something that should never be broken. Otherwise, there's no honor in it at all.
While I prefer not to camp or tunnel, there are exceptions where I will. I'll camp a survivor who thought it fun to keep t-bagging me or flashlight clicking me for no real reason. He wants to annoy me like a misbehaving child? Fine. He's getting punished. His match is over.
If the only person I can see is the unhooked survivor, since I tend to try to move away from the hook and go back on patrol, then that's who I'll chase and down. I won't let them go and go hunting for the unhooker or another healthy survivor just because they came off the hook. That allows them to heal or go grab a gen, and I might not find someone else fast enough, and that's cutting off my nose to spite my face.
I will slug if it fits what I want to do. I've slugged to prevent the hatch escape. I've slugged to use them as bait for other survivors. Sometimes, I won't slug because I just want my 4-stacks of BBQ, some points in different categories, and that's all.
Likewise, if I am hunting BP, but don't necessarily want to pip or double pip, I'll do my hooks, my hits, my gen kicks, but allow them to eventually complete the gens and escape.
Each match depends on my mood and goal.

As a relatively new player, you know why I would love this? To learn the maps. Some of us need more intense map learning than others!
@RipperShark Include me in that club.
-
@Krustykerbz I think they have, and I've made that comment in gen-rushing threads. I personally don't think gen-speed is the issue. I feel it's the size of a lot of the maps, which makes applying proper and adequate pressure extremely difficult for a majority of the killers.
-
Sweet. I'll be there!
-
@SaltySwag BHVR is not going to do anything to encourage more lobby dodging against people playing with friends. I'm saying this as a Killer main. Either accept playing against SWF, or Dead by Daylight just isn't the game for you.
@brokedownpalace @Redd Precisely. SWF has been around long enough by now, and with the recent patch that made grouping and staying as a group even easier, you'd think people would just accept reality at this point. SWF isn't going anywhere, us Killer aren't getting indicators for them, or extra BP for them, or any thing else. Either accept SWF, or see what other games are out there.
It's is what it is.
Me? I just accept them. SWF on comms here, or a 4-6 stack on the opposing team in Overwatch all coordinating on comms while I'm SoloQ'ing and on a team of all randoms none of which are on comms, it's the nature of the beast in PvP gaming. You roll the dice and hope for good match-RNG.

-
@PuppetLivesMatter Same. I had to turn my headphones down a couple of notches.
The sound is definitely more clear, though, as you mentioned.
-
@Mochan Well, sorry to hear that. It's a crappy thing for a killer to do, and I say that as someone that plays a lot more killer side.
The way I see it, if I bring a Hex perk then I'm rolling the dice. Any survivor worth their salt is going to hunt them down, or at the very minimum stop to cleanse it if they happen to come upon it.
I either spend the effort protecting it, or I risk losing it. It's how the game is played.
But I'm not going tunnel, camp, or go out of my way to punish the survivor(s) for taking it down. That's punishing someone simply for doing one of their objectives because I didn't do one of mine to counter it.
-
@Peanits Thanks. I'll make sure to do that.
-
@Peanits Awesome to hear! And thanks for replying so quickly. Very appreciated.
Is it possible to get a reply or topic made somewhere on your end when the hotfix eventually goes live, so those of us holding off on playing much due to the matchmaker will know can jump back into the pool?
-
@Peanits Any insight into what's going on? Things seem to be back to where they were a couple weeks ago with matchmaking issues.
-
@FireHazard That's pretty much where I stand: Time will tell.
In the meantime, going to jump in and test a match or two. Maybe I'll get lucky.
-
@FireHazard It might get fixed with Dedicated Servers. As an example, when Overwatch launched RoleQ beta in late August, matchmaking went to hell on the express train along with it. They actually postponed sending RoleQ live for several days in early September because they were still trying to fix it.
They did, but there are still outliers happening.
And Overwatch has had dedicated servers since the beginning. Dedicated Servers doesn't mean matchmaking won't still be a mess.
Paladins also has dedicated servers, and their Ranked matchmaking has always been a wreck.
Behavior has to not only get dedicated servers to not be a train wreck, but also have to fix matchmaking, which is separate.
I hope they manage it, I truly do, but at the present time I am losing confidence.
-
@FireHazard Oh for Christ's sake, again?
I'm going to go shower and then try a match or two. But I swear, if this crap is back yet again in my matches, I'm just going to go play Overwatch for the next few weeks or more, until they actually fix it.
Maybe longer, because I'm so fed-up with the matchmaking being like this at this point, that I might not even follow DbD again for a couple of months.
Try to like and enjoy the game, and it's like Behavior does everything in their power to prevent that from happening.
-
@ABannedCat I've had this exact conversation with others recently. And Unfortunately, I don't really believe Behavior will ever learn. And this isn't on the Dev Team, but on those in upper management who make the decisions and give the orders and allocate the resources.
The past year alone, at least on Steamcharts, clearly shows they aren't gaining many new players from free weekends, and pretty much drop back to the same, normal numbers a week or two after a 50% sale. New players aren't really being retained on PC.
New DLCs and shiny new horror licenses aren't going to change that; not when the core game has so many problems, especially for new players.
-
De-ranked account level 772 demolishing new players and bragging about it.
Okay, then.
-
@Mert_MK @FireHazard On PC, since Peanits said they made adjustments last week or so, my gray-ranked matches have been pretty fair. I might get the occasional Rank 15 as a Rank 18, but that is only +3 ranks and I don't find it an issue.
The only time since then I've been hit with higher ranks is when they're obviously a 2, 3, or 4 man SWF with a lower ranked group member within my own range.
My matches last night were the same, no issues like the OP has suffered. Haven't played tonight, and am too tired to jump in and deal with mind-gaming tonight.
What platform are you guys on?
-
@BlueFang I'm going to be honest here on one of the points, and this isn't necessarily a defense of Behavior, mind you.
I played MMO PvP for over a decade. Then Overwatch, Paladins, Heroes of the Storm, Apex, Realm Royale, and probably one or two I'm forgetting out of hand.
I've yet to see a PvP game that doesn't have balance issues across the board. I'm starting to wonder if it's even possible, especially when dealing with so many moving parts like all the hero kits in a MOBA or Hero team shooter, or all the perks and perk combinations in this kind of game. And then there are new heroes, or Perks for here, coming out all the time, just adding to the weight.
It's a major reason I've been half-considering just walking away from PvP games and going back to PvE games, and saying to hell with PvP except as maybe an occasional side thing in WoW.
-
@PolarBear @TheHoodedOne I only have tier 2 Blood Warden on Freddy (I don't play him often) and at Tier 2 it is 40. So, Tier one is probably the 30 that the wiki mentions.
I just logged in and checked it.
-
@will_i_am_14_85 On its own, we probably wouldn't notice a difference. But as others have pointed out, it can stack and synergize with other perks in a build for greater effect. Which is why I agree with the other statements that it seems like the Devs kept build synergy and stacking in mind this time.
-
@I_am_Negan Hmmm. But don't they usually announce them about a week in advance?
When is the next Dev Stream? Because I think if there is one coming very soon, it might be revealed there, first.
-
I might be remembering incorrectly, but I believe it was stated in the past because, generally in a match, the killer earns more BP than a majority of survivors, so can progress through bloodwebs for add-ons faster.
Don't take that as gospel, though. My memory on the answer might be faulty.
Survivors, meanwhile, lose their items unless they escape with them.
