The people at Blizzard, Ubisoft, EA, namco, WB, must be doing some kind of sorcery then, cause I play all their online games just fine.

Yeah. It's called they actually spent the money on high-end servers. I've played a lot of online games recently after taking a break for a bit: Back to Overwatch, Left 4 Dead 2, Friday the 13th, Paladins, Dead by Daylight, and others. And good god, DbD has the worst servers. I thought the servers for Heroes of the Storm were bad, but the DbD servers make them look like Overwatch servers.

And I have top of the line internet, with my Desktop plugged into it, not Wi-Fi, so it isn't me. It also isn't me when even L4D2 servers are more consistent than DbD servers.

  • I used to. But when I login nowadays, it's purely survivor. Maybe one day if their MMR matchmaking ever sees the light of day, and maybe if it actually functions as advertised, then I might play killer again. But until that day, no thanks.

Not to tin-foil hat, but I have a alt-account that has even fewer hours. Your whole post betrays knowledge in detail of a number of topics and being current on community debates that a new player simply wouldn't possess. That's why this thread smells bait from a mile.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and I'll tell you this. Play however you want. The others can do the same. You can 100% ignore their complaints and don't be surprised if yours will be ignored as well. You keep doing your tunnel thing and they'll keep doing their gen fly thing, as you said. Everybody's focused on their own backyard and then, when you'll have more hours, don't be surprised to realize how bad the health state of this game is.

To be fair, before I purchased the game in 2018, I first spent a lot of time here at the forums reading the various community debates and learning things from it (this was before I even made a forum account upon purchasing the game), viewing YouTube guide after guide, and even dropping in on multiple streamers.

Before I spent a penny on the game, I was well-aware of camping, tunneling, Mori vs Keys, mindgames, what a God pallet was, "infinites," and so forth.

And I didn't have a single minute played in the game, yet.

All that said, the OP should get out of the forums while they can. Video game forums are cesspools of complaint after complaint. I started enjoying games like DbD and Overwatch a lot more again after spending a hell of a lot less time at the forums.

  • I don't target them. I actually don't play with them, either. What I see ttv, I leave the lobby. I'm not here to help them entertain their audience and potentially build their business for free. I'm simply not interested.

You don't need to rank up...there are no rewards and it is purely for matchmaking purposes.

And it's barely working for matchmaking purposes as it is.

Hours played dont indicate when they purchase the game.

I have seen a players in two months rack up over 300h and some with 50-100h have the game for 1-2 years. The only true way is to truly check is by the achievement dates as all the hours say is how much time someone has had or put into playing the game.

But it does indicate new or Vet in a sense as well. If I purchased DbD a year ago, but it sat and sat, and finally I fired it up this weekend and played 10 hours of it and then posted a review, I am still a new player.

Likewise, if I purchased it a year ago, played 10 hours then and left it to never launch it again, and just now left a review based on those 10 hours from a year ago, I reviewed it as a new player.

Purchase time doesn't make one a new or old player, a noob or a vet, play time does.

No one knows that its old players returning and not new ones. Technically new players have to come in or the playerbase would always be dropping since not everyone will play a game for hundred or thousands of hours. Games generally only have a certain percentage of overall players who stay for the long haul.

Now if we look at this screenshot of steam it shows over 9k recent reviews. While it doesn't state old or new players it can be taken that a portion would be new. Let's say it's 50% to be objective that's still a decent amount of new players over the time period for an almost 4 year old game and since only a small percentage of players ever leave reviews at all the number should then be even higher overall.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/939/5BRLZE7I8DD1.jpg

Actually, you can tell. Go to Community Hub, Reviews, Recent reviews, and it lists the hours played by each reviewer at the top of their review post.

It's very easy to tell if a review is made by a new player or a Vet in Steam. Granted, no one in their right mind is going to check all 9k, but you can easily glance at 30-40 reviews in a few minutes.

  • Odd, because when I get Perks from the shrine and then check the associated character, it shows the perk as unlocked on them and they eventually show up in bloodwebs, when RNG feels kind.

I'd post it in the bug forums.

I personally don't have internet problems, but the amount of daily players is constantly decreasing because of this system. The game is enjoyable, but it seems with every new update or implemented feature, a problem arises.

What data do you have that it's because of the DC penalty system? DbD's numbers on steamcharts have been holding well. Are they starting to have a slight (emphasis on slight) decline now? Yes. And it was expected by many of us to be coming. Why? Because States in the U.S., and other countries as well, are relaxing the quarantine and opening things back up bit by bit. People are going to start heading outside more again, especially with summer just about here.

Good point, but I've played KYF with my friends offline as well, and we have fun. I just don't buy the line of logic that it's "a complete waste of time" to play unless you're unlocking things. :)

    @Liruliniel said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1259616#Comment_1259616

When I play KYF with friends either to help them learn stuff or just because we want to have fun with everyone at different ranks. I find it more fun than normal matches....at least until we get that one random person whos X friends friend and they try and be serious only to get dominated.

Oh trust me, I get what both of you are saying on that front. Though I have zero friends & family who play DbD, we all do play Overwatch together nightly in a six-stack team. When we get tired of running normal matches, we migrate over to the workshop custom games where I have a lot of game settings saved that others made so I can relaunch them: Dead by Daylight Overwatch, McCree Hot Potato, Doomfist Sumo, CoD Zombies, et cetera.

We have a blast. XP in custom games is minimal at best and has a daily limit that's reached after only a few matches, but we don't care. It's about the fun and chill hanging out. So, I completely understand no BP in KYF and just having fun. In modes like KYF or workshop, that's the idea anyway.

Like I said in my original reply to Almo, I have no dog in the BP in KYF fight because in modes like that, the XP or BP was never the reason I played them.

  • Eh. I only play here and there, so call it casual or whatever, but I finally just threw in the towel playing Killer with this matchmaking going on still and seemingly forever. And I have very little faith in BHVR being able to design and implement a proper MMR system. I switched to Survivor. Playing killer can rot in hell, now.

  • @Almo said:

"A complete waste of time". So... playing DbD isn't fun and you just want bloodpoints to unlock more stuff to play a game that's a waste of time unless you're unlocking things? I don't quite follow this line of reasoning. :)

On my stream we do "play with the viewers" nights, and we play KYF, and nobody complains about it being "a complete waste of time". We have fun! Except maybe when that Legion master shows up and kicks our asses. ;)

Oh please. It's because they are playing with a Streamer they enjoy, not to mention a Dev. So, it's offering an enjoyment reward right there.

I'm not advocating bloodpoints in KYF, mind you, as I don't care one way or another about it, but you're making a poor comparison there. Either that, or you don't understand what people enjoy about playing with a Streamer and/or Dev.

  • @SmarulKusia said:

This game is just not player-friendly.

This game, at it's core value costs £30 on the PS4 store (Forces you to buy the deluxe edition), and on steam it costs £15 (normal), £23 (deluxe). You'd think that considering the pricing and how on some platforms it forces you to purchase the expensive iteration, that you'd get something in return for it. But you don't.

Majority of the survivors are locked behind a paywall, as a matter of fact, out of the current 21 survivors: only 8 are free (As in coming with the game). On killers side, you get 6 free killers out of 19. That means that literally 35% of the playable content is available to the player for purchasing the base-game which can mean spending £30 for 35% of a game - that is disgusting, but it gets worse.

    The feature of teachables:

Perks aren't necessarily a necessity, you can probably get far up the ladder without perks but at one point, they are going to be necessary and most 'character builds' whether killer/survivor, aren't actually too sufficient by themselves. Some may argue, that those players will arguably get to a stage where they will have the perks they need. But what does the game actually offer for its price tag? Being able to even have a chance at playing the game? Well, it doesn't matter because now you need to hope that the teachables will even appear in the bloodweb that you want. I mean, it's not like i've gone through 100+ levels on Jane in hopes of seeing borrowed time, whilst every time a new bloodweb starts, i see the same ######### offering for the 80th time (Red Herring, I'm looking at you, buddy).

But my point is, there is going to always be a massive wall between new players and 'matured' players within the community, and due to poor matchmaking, they may be matched together. I mean, I've been playing with some friends that are only just getting into DBD, and i have to remember that they don't have self-care yet or whatever else.

So whilst one is grinding out for teachables, you're also building up a storage of iridescent shards, nice right? except they're only usable for teachables, recolours of skins, or potentially to build characters if you grind out on the points - whilst the rest of the cooler cosmetics is locked behind an in-game currency that you can only get by dishing out MORE money.

Then you're also smacked in the face with the battlepass, that you have to spend even MORE money on for more in-game currency so that you can buy the battle pass. You know what games typically use battlepasses? free games, with free content. Not a game that is on the same price range as something like GTA V.

This game is struck with a paywall, after a paywall after a paywall. Which is so strange considering that the game has a reasonably high pricetag despite having only 35% of the content actually available to a new player.

This is also without considering that more DLCs are going to come out which will decrease the amount from 35%.

"This game is struck with a paywall, after a paywall after a paywall. Which is so strange considering that the game has a reasonably high pricetag despite having only 35% of the content actually available to a new player."

Welcome to BHVR. They went to the EA School of Game Design.

  • @DetailedDetriment said:

Yes, but that won't make anybody any money.

And that right there sums it up.

  • @Cabbage said:

No, that would be a bad business model for BHVR to follow. That would mean you could play a killer you haven’t bought, over and over again without actually paying for it, and as a business they would like your money. They have a system on mobile where after playing for a certain amount of days you get a free trial of one killer or survivor of your choosing for and hour. I think that would be cool to implement it into the main game, but they’re not just gonna let you play a killer because you ain’t earning anything from it. It’s the same as cosmetics.

They also gave out some tickets for characters for achieving 1 million downloads. I plan to test Doc and Clown with them. I'm sitting on 22k shards over on mobile, just not sure who I want to spend them on. Still undecided, as well, if I want to spend the money on cells for Myers yet. Still need more time with the game to see if I will play it enough.

Nah fam, the way matchmaking currently is right now can tell ya rank means nothing. It's just a number at this point.

Not just currently. It was doing this in September 2019 when the Stranger Things DLC launched and they had a free weekend, and still in December 2019 when I last played steadily. And that wasn't even the first time it did it during 2019.

Rank hasn't consistently been used for matchmaking for almost a year now. It's been spotty at best.

    in rank Comment by Kilmeran
  • Would be nice, and I hope it comes out within the next couple of months. I have no intent to play again until this rank-as-matchmaker is dead and buried, and am awaiting the MMR system.

Both of these are so true. When I want to relax, I will friggin' be a counselor in F13 before I launch this game. Hell, I will queue for the cesspool that is Overwatch ranked mode before DbD.

When I want to logout of a game more frustrated than when I logged in, then it's DbD time.

I quote Kilmeran. Plattform and how long have you seen this "issue" to let people understand better. When i play Surv from pc (red rank) i have matches max vs killer rank 7-8. Rare situation we are paired vs a rank 14.

And depending on your number in Red rank, that 7 or 8 might even be within the +6/=6 the MM is supposed to go up to. I'm PC NA, and though I often get the upper limits of that +/- 6 since the patch, my matches beyond that have dropped significantly.

I'm curious as to his platform, because it seems some PC regions and a lot of console regions are hit with the wild MM a lot more.

  • Not a chance in hell, and I have actually warned the friends & family, who didn't try the free weekend and walk away afterward, away from it.

Sure, the Devs are working on things like a new MM system and such, but until they actually put them in the game, and they actually work well (not a given with BHVR), there are better ways my friends & family can spend their time and money.

  • I will use a Mori for the simple fact that sometimes I feel like seeing Myers stab people and kill them like Myers, instead of being only a hook machine for some damned entity. And yeah, it's 1 hook and mori. I brought it to see the animation and the "fantasy," not keep hooking and pray I get to use it.

Man you guys are quick to attack someone's parenting out of total ignorance, my kid does some acting and probably makes more money than you people crying about $10, hes sort of an amazing kid, part of that is he gets some of that money to spend and he likes to spend money on games. He made a mistake without telling me and it won't happen again, but at least im not raising him to be a freeloader like your guys parents did, that doesn't have a spare $10 (fully refunded btw) to offer 70 days of entertainment. If everyone was as tight with their wallets as you guys there wouldn't be a dbd to play, so you're welcome that I'm covering the expenses for players like you.

Do you really want to start comparing bank accounts? My wife makes six-figures by herself as salaried management at Home Depot. I am an author that has had book licenses purchased by Hollywood for slightly over $1 million per book. Still waiting for the goddamn movies to finally get made, but thus is Hollywood.

Whether or not a mere $60 means jack is not the ethical point, here.

That's not how definitions work and you know it.

You're also blatantly ignoring the fact that the devs themselves called the Rift A BATTLE PASS. They did it in their own surveys when questioning about how the players would "feel about a battle pass coming to Dead by Daylight". This should be the final nail in the coffin that the Rift is in fact, a battle pass.

I don't even understand why you're even trying to strawman Identity V in this. How Identity V and DBD functions isn't even remotely the same. Does Identity V have a scummy monetization scheme? Sure. Scummier than the Rift even? Perhaps. But the game is also free to play and DBD isn't. And just because one might be scummier than the other, doesn't mean the Rift isn't scummy -- it just means it may be slightly less scummy than the other thing.

Just because EA tried to label loot boxes as "surprise mechanics" didn't mean that they weren't lootboxes. The same goes for here. Just because Dead by Daylight calls their battle pass "The Rift" in game, doesn't mean it isn't a battle pass.

    • It functions like a battle pass
    • It behaves like a battle pass
    • It progresses like a battle pass
    • It has seasons like a battle pass
    • It has a free track and a paid track like a battle pass

It's a god damn battle pass.

Now stop being a bad parent and letting your adolescent child waste his entire savings on loot boxes.

The rift is, indeed, a battlepass. I agree.

I also agree with your final sentence. I have a 10-year-old. You know how many Overwatch lootboxes he has purchased in the two years he's played that game with us (the rest of us have been there since Beta). Absolutely zero. You know why? Because they are the ultimate rip-off in video gaming.

Why in the living hell would this parent allow their 9-year-old to spend $60 on lootboxes? Even more of a question: Why would they publicly admit to it? Perhaps they should be doing less DbD and more parenting.

Umm.... last time I checked, BHVR didn't reach into your wallet, take out your card and buy the DLCs and cosmetics. YOU made the choice to spend extra money on the game. And to top it off, you can earn everything that isn't cosmetic, e.g. killers, survivors and perks, through playing the game normally. Any money that you spend besides the base price of the game is of your own volition and does not entitle you to any more than if you had only bought the game itself and nothing more. Besides that, DbD is only $20.... and is frequently on sale for $8.... honestly, they do pretty well by this game for it's price being so low.

Only in the gaming world do people have hissy fits of this nature--being upset when something isn't suited perfectly to their tastes. When you go to the store and buy something, then decide that you don't like or want it, you return it. When you go to the restaurant and decide that you don't like their food, you don't go back (and if the food was ACTUALLY bad rather than simply not suited to your tastes, you write a review). When a gamer decides that they don't like a game, some simply return it or don't play it, yes.... but it seems that many instead whine and complain on forums and reddit threads about how "it's not the way I want it" and "these devs are lazy and don't care", instead of shelving it for the time being and waiting for it to get fixed/waiting for content that you prefer to be added.

I am all for constructive criticism and calling out developers who are ACTUALLY scummy and trying to get over on their customers (I've written some negative reviews for constructive purposes), but seeing people like you make the claim that they are "intentionally" putting out buggy patches is just ridiculous. Like I said in my first post, it is common for new updates and patches to have issues, because they cannot predict how the game will behave on the tens of thousands of PCs that are out there, so they release the update and wait for feedback on new bugs.

I would just like to remind you that, thankfully, we live in a society where we can speak with our wallets (and in the case of gamers, our playtime AND our wallets). If you don't like what a company is doing, don't support them (look at the direction that Epic Games (their store in particular) is heading due to many people disagreeing with them as a company and refusing to support them in any way). Or, instead of throwing tantrums, try assisting the developers in fixing the patch by reporting any bugs that you find.

I'm just going to cover one thing, since you either can't read or are attempting to put words into my mouth to make a point on your end.

I stated, and I quote: "You charge the money, you put out a proper product. Not these half-assed, bug-ridden patches one update after the next."

I, at no time, said the devs were intentionally putting out buggy patches. I just as well assume they are incapable of running a title of this berth and call it a day. That they either aren't knowledgeable enough, not trained enough, or whatever the excuse might be. Maybe they don't have a proper Q.A. team. Maybe the Q.A. team is inept. Or maybe the shot callers should simply no longer be in charge of the game. Because the fact of the matter is: patch after patch, they are bug-ridden messes.

And I've already spoken with my wallet. I have yet to purchase a Rift. I haven't bought a cosmetic in over a year. I refunded Stranger Things within the allotted time (due to matchmaker being broken even back when that DLC released along with the associated free weekend) and haven't bought a single DbD item since.

Furthermore, due to this patch, and especially due to forced AA, I've uninstalled today. I just forgot to logout of the forums, which I cam here to remedy and saw notifications. But I'm done, so I won't be back for further debate.

    2. Deathslinger is essentially the Saint of Killers from Preacher. Appearance is very similar, damn near lawsuit levels.

    3. New update makes killer great again. Even tho genrush is still meta, as the patch didnt bother with solo gen speeds yet, I had the most fun as Killer, even on the worst maps in DBDs existance, then Ive had in months. I was able to actually get a hook and start chasing someone else by the time the first gen popped at Rank One.

As someone who works with copyright and trademark as a core part of my living (I'm an author who's worked in fiction, comics, table-top RPG, video games, and television), there are enough subtle differences between Deathslinger and Saint that it isn't a violation. And I am speaking for Saint from both the original comic series and the television show.

Never mind that such a cowboy look is hardly unique. Various visual interpretations of Jonah Hex predated Saint, even. Never mind some of the artwork in the Deadlands RPG dating all the way back to the 1990s, which came out less than a year after Preacher started publication.

That said, there is a wide chasm between hero bans in Overwatch and Perk bans in DbD.

The one just means a hero can't be played, but everyone who pays the base MSRP has all heroes available to play (bans aside). No grind or RNG to unlock one.

The other means a Perk is gone from rotation. And for people who play casually and might not have a ton of perks unlocked, because this game is a grind-fest designed by a sadist with a hard-on for RNG, that would be a very bad thing to do.

You know, the devs can't make sure that the game is going to work perfectly on Every Single PC that this game is installed on.... nor can they know about the bugs that will appear after the patch is released.... that's why they wait for feedback from the community on the bugs that appear so they can fix them. Saying that they don't try on their updates just because there are bugs is ridiculous. I for one really enjoy the new update apart from the bugs, especially being able to vault without snapping back to the window, and the Temple is much more balanced now.

Also, I would like to say, they don't OWE you a * Fantastic * game experience, so don't be an entitled gamer.... just play a different game while you wait for the patch to be bugfixed. You're not being held at gunpoint to play DbD after a patch on day 1.... and expecting the game to be Perfect and Bug Free right after a patch is silly.

When one spends money on an MSRP for a game, money for DLCs, money for a battlepass, money for cosmetics, you bet your ass that studio owes a fantastic gaming experience. It's called basic business. You charge the money, you put out a proper product. Not these half-assed, bug-ridden patches one update after the next.

Entitled gamer? Not hardly. Not once a gamer's money comes into play. The fact that people even view that as entitled is what's wrong with the game industry today, and why studios like Behavior, Bethesda, EA, and others can get away with the bullshit that they do.

The fact that my FPS drops 50 (!!!!) frames from the previous patch to this one, because of the ######### they force into the graphic settings, is absolutely unacceptable!

I played the PTB. None of these issues were there! They introduced them now to ######### as all over. They did it on purpose too, because they knew people would ######### and moan if it happened during the PTB, and they would have to fix it. Now they can just ignore us, and move on.

Say what you want, but the team responsible for the tech side of things is absolutely incapable of developing a game of this scale.

So, my final "feedback" as you would call it is - prove to me, devs, that you are capable of fixing your game, and adding options that fit 2020 standards, or the higher-ups should just fire everyone who is dragging this company, and this game, down.

I agree. I mean, for crying out loud, even Friday the 13th had these basic graphic adjustment features, and that was made by a much smaller studio (Behavior Interactive is not small, people should look them up).

It's inexcusable that DbD is handled the way that it is.

    Wait . . . no . . . it's fine! Look! Over there! A new cosmetic!

  • What's even worse, is that unless I am missing replies somewhere, the only matchmaker replies being made by BHVR are the blue-mods pointing us to the Matchmaker Developer Update posted way back in January.

And this matchmaker issue has been around since November 2019, after already coming and going several times before that throughout 2019. It is many degrees beyond pathetic at this point.

Given that they've barely handled the matchmaker at all over the past year, is there any confidence in BHVR being able tp properly implement a Hidden MMR type of system?

Well, at least it'll be hidden, so they can always claim "working as intended."

If I used every Mori I had I'd use a mori almost every game for weeks. I get them constantly in my Ghostface, Huntress, Wraith, Plague, and Oni bloodwebs

I seemed to get a lot in Doc back when I played a lot of Killer. I wanted them for Myers, but RNGesus did not like me.

  • It's a bit of a loaded question. Currently under that model, around $150. I come and go from the game quite frequently and don't play it as a main game or even close, which is also why you never see me on here talking balance, buff, nerf, overpowered, et cetera.

That said, though, at $1 an hour, I would have left and uninstalled DbD by the $20 to $30 mark.

the only way the game will “end” is when the devs run out of ideas for killer powers. there’s only so much they can do before they start getting burnt out or just straight up copy a killers power.

when it’ll happen idk but it will eventually. 😔

Eventually. But I also wouldn't be surprised if before that point arrives, since they would see it coming long before we do on the outside, that they start working on a Dead by Daylight sequel that takes the game into a new direction.

Unless something comes along that lasts more than a few months to a year, DbD is still the king of the asymmetrical genre, so I can't see BHVR abandoning the I.P. and concept any time soon.

  • I doubt Mori's are happening 60% of the time unless you are the unluckiest DbD player in the world.

Now, I will use a Mori when I have one, but it's simply due to the fact that sometimes Hooking is boring. I want to see Michael Myers kill like Michael Myers. So, I Mori.

That's one thing I love about playing Friday the 13th: Jason kills like Jason, be it with a grab kill or an environmental kill. Not this Hook, Hook, Hook, and cosmic spider-legs kills them.

I know, it's so sad. This game could be so awesome but it just .. isn't. At least half the time.

There's a load of AAA horror games coming out later this year, supposedly. I'm biding my time and will probably be switching to something else once they do.

I hear ya, trust me. Ironically, even though it is a dead game as far as development goes, I've been having much more fun in Friday the 13th lately than here.

I went against 4 red rank survivors in a game yesterday. Im rank 12...... Sadly I didn't get screenshots of it but they seriously need to fix their matchmaking

This has been going on since 2019. They've shown they can't fix it, apparently.

This is what ALL my matches are starting to look like! All the way from rank 20 and now I'm at rank 16 .. not even exaggerating. I can start taking screenshots

No need. The matchmaker did this multiple times in 2019, and did it again in November 2019 and was still doing it in December 2019 when I finally gave up and left. Fast forward to April 2020, and here we still are with the matchmaker.

Oh, but don't worry. Fear not denizen of the Fog. BHVR is now working on a Hidden MMR system that will be the savior and fix all.

I'm not a betting man, but given their history with a matchmaker in DbD, I wouldn't get too excited about it being done well.

The waiting times for survivors are bad and in my opinion, I think a lot of people don't play killer. For example, I player killer, but much less than survivor. If my friends are online, we always play survivor together and they don't play killer at all. My friends say playing killer is too stressful and I agree that sometimes it is, especially because nowadays ranks are all over the place. I played a match today with me, rank 10 killer going against 2 rank 1 and 2 rank 2 survivors. I had a miserable time, for most of the match and while I play one match as survivor, then go for another one, I played one match as killer, go so frustrated that I switched back to survivor again.

Survivors need to stop and realise that Killers are essential. Guess what, you can't play a match without a killer. So, when there are balance changes that benefit killers, we can't just complain until those changes get reversed, because the game needs people who want to play killer and we are losing them. Also, be less toxic to killers that didn't do anything toxic to begin with. I get people t-bagging me at the start of a chase, after they throw down 1 pallet. Why? Or flashlight clicking? Playing killer is already stressful, there is no need to make it worse.

Exactly. It was a major reason I stopped playing Killer nearly as much when I last played. Now, did the bad manners hurt my feelings or make me mad? Not in the slightest. But it just got tiresome to constantly deal with. It's like being in a room full of screaming, irritating children. Finally you have enough and just leave.

  • Despite what you might read around here, and despite the myriad issues I have with the game myself, the reality is that DbD is in no danger of going away any time soon. BHVR has stated the game is profitable and growing, even to the point that it was stated by Devs over the now closed down Deathgarden game by BHVR that while it was open and struggling, money from DbD was being used to prop that game up for them.

So, DbD is doing fine for BHVR and will be around for several more years to come.

I just like to imagine someone at BHVR headbutting their keyboard and then the match is created.

    Yeah, pretty much that.

Won't ever be good due to the shortage of killers, unfortunately.

The only way to fix Matchmaking is not to change matchmaking, but make people want to play killer again.

Unfortunately, while I do believe the map reworks will help, killer needs a lot more than that. The fact that I can down survivors and they always have a perk to bail them out while I have to sweat my ass off and one mistake can make me lose the game is so frustrating and stressful that I've just gotten to the point where I just refuse to play killer at all because it's simply not fun.

I know I'm not the only one who feels that way.

I don't disagree. I came back specifically to play Killer. Know what I did after two days? I downloaded DbD Mobile, instead. Yeah, the controls for Killer suck, but right now I am playing that and Overwatch, instead.

Actually that is matchmaking working as intended.

A while back I think the devs mentioned that in order for White Ranks to get quicker games, they have virtually no matchmaking so they will be matched with people from the other extreme side of the aisle. I could be wrong though, and I'd like to be proven wrong because it is a rather inconveniencing way to fix the long matchmaking in White Ranks.

So, their working as intended model is to not keep new players? Because if that is the case, new players are going to have to sweat like hell to pip and get out of white ranks.

    Most will move on first.

  • @xTalon32 said:

This has been discussed to the point of.... well we won't go into that.

    They're working on it.

The main issue is that throughout 2019, this matchmaking problem happened several different times. Then it came back again November 2019, and by December 2019 I threw in the towel and left.

Come back now in April 2020, and the precise issue that was here in December 2019 is here again.

Exactly how long do they need to work on it? Never mind actually get it right? And folks have faith in them being able to implement a Hidden MMR system? I sure don't, not effectively anyway. Only then, they can claim "working as intended" without too many people able to prove them wrong.

BHVR have proven themselves to be incapable of handling a matchmaking system.
