  • Trying to say Legion is above any other killer (including Freddy) is hilarious.

  • "In a world... where killers are hunted by survivors... where mending your guts hanging out isn't considered healing. Time doesn't exist, as borrowed time is infinite time. A land where both your kill count and your FPS drops.

It's a pretty good job so far... coming this winter. You can buy the entire DLC, but you'll only need... dramatic pause ...the SURVIVOR!"

big explosion sound, fade to black

Sitting through this was well worth it just to hear this guy say "wiggle timer."

  • I thought this was a reference to playing Jeff. His beard is like an amplifier for his breathing (at least in the PTB, not sure if they fixed his volume or not yet). Jeff is a 3-pack-a-day kinda' guy, apparently.

  • Most disgusting killer? Hag. She doesn't even use a napkin after that mori. Horrid table manners.

  • Now available on Steam for those PC users who do want to purchase it.

  • AKA: "Please buy them using shards first so we don't have to deal with any real $$$ refunds later after the wave of complaints we refused to fix from the PTB."

Nah, I'll hold off until (or if, rather) these bumps smooth out. May pick up a perk or two in the shrine if the right ones hit (would like to try Iron Maiden on Doc and Distortion/Breakdown for my survivors).

  • 110% behind this idea. I enjoy spreading out and playing different characters, killer and survivor. Hard to start playing a new one fresh with just a mediocre load of perks right now when you're higher ranked. Even if you sucked during the match, you still usually safety pip and it's an actual chore to derank to where you should be playing with that character. Different on survivor, as it's all the same besides the perks you've opened... especially so on killer where you have to learn the new mechanics and their core differences. Even if you've saved up a full BP load to drop and open more perks on a new character, you still have to get used to playing them and that's one helluva' frustrating experience with sweaty folks swarming you like fruit flies.

  • Santa Clown is going to turn that frown upside-down and get ya' back into the holiday mood in-game.

  • Jake's face matters.

  • Think I'll hold off until they realize they need to take the loads of good feedback given during PTB into actual consideration. It may take a few patches, or never come at all... either case, it's back to maining survivor until something gives.

  • Fees. That's my exact thought the moment they announced dedicated servers and everybody elsewhere went full creme fraiche all over the place. Servers aren't cheap, Behaviour is relatively small and, unless they have some kind of hidden scheme in their pockets ready to boost the player base considerably, that $$$ is gonna' have to come from somewhere. Doing away with Iridescent Shards and requiring everything to be bought with Auric Cells, turning pay-to-win and having top-notch add-ons or items only available for purchase in the shop and out of bloodwebs, raising DLC prices considerably, or the dreaded monthly fees... something will have to give. No way around that.

Then there's the constant server maintenance downtime like clockwork and all the outages that come out of left field...

  • Holidays at the post office... what's not to love? There's a reason it's called "going postal" when you absolutely lose it.

  • Ahh, OK. Got it now. So you were last man standing, killer had downed the other survivor and camping his slugged body to bait you out. I guess it depends on the number and placement of gens left in correlation to where the downed survivor and camp-a-Doc was hanging out (and what items and/or perks I had at the moment) on what I'd do in that situation.

It definitely puts you in a difficult predicament, but it's a smart and legitimate move. If you're a killer after a 4K (and, to be fair, what killer actually goes into a match saying, "Man, I can't wait to kill 3 and let one get the hatch!"... nor should they), slug and bug that 3rd survivor so the 4th can't just be hanging out near the hatch waiting on it to pop. I'd chalk it up to bad hatch mechanics that the devs have yet to address which kinda' force that situation upon both sides: the survivor who wants to escape and the killer who wants to kill.

  • Big question: Was the survivor an obsession (not due to the killer's perk choices)? If so, I don't blame 'em for letting 'em lay slugged... it'll give 'em some time to ponder over a different perk selection for the next game. Otherwise, hook 'em, enjoy the 4K, and move on to the next match.

Edit: Upon rereading responses, I see Wolf touched on the very real possibility of DS (and the likely free escape) above.

Guess we could pull the old chestnut others tend to throw out of "fix it by running this perk every game" with No Mither or Unbreakable.

  • "Be fierce... but not fierce enough to kill as, you know, a killer. Be 1/2 fierce, or 1/3 fierce. If you want to actually kill, use the two killers who can. You're here for survivors' enjoyment at your own expense. Have fun while losing! That's the new meta. Behold, Legion! Mr. Papercut! Sister McStabby!"

"No Mither Meta. Yeah, baby... that's what I'm talkin' aboot."

    head desk

  • Perhaps on the 5th stack it could give a substantially false skillcheck warning chime (I'd like to use this with Freddy, myself) ALONG WITH either bouncing the skillcheck ring to different points on the screen (like Doc's tier 3 Madness) or narrowing the skillcheck ring success section down to Decisive Strike size. It's description states it's supposed to "muddle the survivor's attention," so that should muddle it nicely. I've hardly ever had a Hex totem last up to 5 levels, so that final level may as well be made worth it when you can get it to activate.

  • Yay for having at least 1 weekly downtime and innumerable server crashes!

With the nerf to the Doc, the lack of a Freddy change, and the pathetic showing for Legion's changes, I think that solidifies everything: If I'm still playing next patch, I'm going to be either a Survivor, or I will Insidious camp with Bubba as a protest.

Agreed. Started back to mostly playing survivor side after a couple of days in the PTB, as anyone could see what a hot mess it was bringing to the game. If those "fixes" announced today are the state of what's going live, yeah, I'll stick to playing survivor when I do play. Not even a Santa Clown outfit could lull me over into the dumpster juice the devs are fully intent on pouring on the killer side with this joke of a chapter and its "balance." And when that gets boring from EZ mode, and the next patch continues to show they've created a killer and a new status that are both too delicate to ever fix or balance, I'll just play other games and float off like a fart in the wind. No sweat. And it would seem there are plenty who feel the same at this point. They can't say we didn't try to warn them with feedback in the PTB section and the survey, though.

  • As killer, I usually give a "GG" and it's lost in the ether somewhere with no response. As survivor, I'll give a "GG" and it's usually lost in the middle of a lengthy and expressive toxic and/or salty exchange between everybody else so I tip-toe away awkwardly to the next game. It's weird.

  • This is a common sense QOL change that should've happened ages ago... yet here we are.

Can I copy paste your post (referencing to this thread and to you) for future discussions? Would save me a lot of time explaining some people how things works

Feel free to do so, and thank you for asking. It's difficult listening to the same broken record spinning on repeat when the lyrics already suck.

  • So, if most killers just sit around the hook, why did they find enough of an outcry to nerf BBQ & Chili into the ground in the PTB? Surely if most killers face-camped, there'd be no need for this and the many more aura reading nerfs in the PTB. Why are there 300+ posts per day lamenting "tunneling" (also known as killers killing effeciently)? One can either camp or "tunnel"... it's one or the other. Why did the devs implement an emblem nerf to any killer staying within a certain distance of the hook? No reason to read auras while staring a survivor in the mug and having a sip of tea on Easy Street, is there? I may get camped as a survivor 1 out of every 10-15 games, and that's being gracious. I camp as killer on the rare occasion when it would actually benefit me as killer (extremely rare situations, since any killer worth their salt already knows camping is most often wasting valuable time and pressure) or if a survivor has marked off a personal checklist of toxicity (again, extremely rare). Unless you have the worst random match-ups against the worst killers ever, you're not facing camping situations half as often as you often let on.

Sabotaging one hook then later having a person being able to instantly break one as a reward for mistakes (getting caught) can neuter an area of certain maps given standard hook placement, making it a safe haven with free escapes for a time.

Please, explain how "most killers" should "properly" play to meet your core standards. What's the proper killer etiquette all of these killers with which you interact are messing up?

  • Yes, this ^^^. If you can connect a hit chasing somebody up or down terrain, you should be able to hit somebody with Shock Therapy doing the same (never understood why it was ground-based to begin with, but OK).

  • I'm on PC, but from what I've gathered from PS4 friends, Clown is nearly as rare as Nurse (and comes with nearly as much graphic lag with fumes). Besides that, Clown is mid-tier to lower mid-tier, at best, and quite a few of his bottles are bugged to where they disappear into nowhere right now, wasted and lost in the ether somewhere.

  • Darkness Among Us was just a cover for the real chapter getting released?

  • The Killer shouldn't have to waste a perk slot for either situation: The original pick-up was slow enough to warrant fixing, just to revert again needlessly... if you're going to blind a pick-up make sure you're using a strong enough flashlight, otherwise get situated ahead and use it during the travel... I was blinded during quick pick-ups plenty by strong flashlights, so there was never a problem here; nor should a different perk (Iron Maiden) have to be used make up for what BBQ & Chili already innately had, especially since Iron Maiden is truly only useful when activated nearby the killer, in fact at just 15 secs. of Exposed status I can honestly see it being used more as a distraction against Huntress (let's be honest here, nobody else is going to run this perk). If we're going to talk perks, both Iron Maiden and BBQ & Chili are neutered by Distortion... so using that line of thought, why not just leave BBQ & Chili alone, leave the auras as-is, and let the survivors waste a perk slot on Distortion, instead? This go around, the new survivor perks have much more potential across the board, whereas the new killer perks are extremely situational. They want to end meta killer builds? Make new perks decent, work on old unused perks, and don't just nerf tried-and-true perks to force folks to take up known crappy ones.

Trying to get folks to stop using BBQ & Chili as part of the meta is just going to lead to more tunneling and camping. One of the major reasons I still use it, even after everybody realized they could more often than not hide behind a gen to nullify it's aura reading, was the BP boost. Although folks like to try to say that's BS on here, it's true... the BP boost is worth it. I sought out to hook a different survivor ASAP, not only to build pressure but also so I could build the tiers on it fast and earn more. Stop using it and there's one more reason to not worry about spreading the love across multiple survivors... why should anyone? Worry about not pipping due to the half-arsed rank fix last go 'round? Also, since it's so frustrating playing killer now as-is with so many SWFs anyway (and the incoming matchmaking change going to stop folks from being able to tell who may likely be SWF, no fix to endscreen perk reading mid-trial, and no open labeling for SWF in the lobby anytime soon), the only real reason to continue playing killer side is for the slightly higher BP earned (usually) compared to playing survivor. And the challenge. But there's a line that was crossed in this PTB between "challenge" and "ground-nerfed hot mess."

There's enough nerfage across the board on the killer side in this PTB that, if it goes untouched and live, I have to think it will make a fair amount of folks just stop playing killer and take up survivor as main. We hear that from both sides during each patch, during each new release or "fix," but this one is heavy-handed, to say the least. I've already started leveling more survivors in anticipation, although I can definitely see the lobbies getting longer in the near future for even that side after the smoke has cleared.

  • Happens to me every other game on average, no stretch; at least one red rank or sometimes 2 purple ranks in with the greens. And they know what they're doing... they tend to come in to interact with you intentionally the moment they can find you in order to become the distraction, grab those chase BPs, and run you for a few gens. I've gotten much better at putting them to rest ASAP, but if they're running circles around you for now I suggest just switching to another target, tap them when they're in view and an easy hit but otherwise focus on the rest, else they'll take you for a ride the entire time. They'll probably follow you around trying to distract you; don't let it mess with your head.

Sometimes they're an easy down (like mentioned above, a higher-ranked person who can't play in their rank so they think dropping down with SWF will let them bully newer killers), but that doesn't tend to be the rule but rather the exception. Usually a bit of a mind screw to their SWF buddy(ies) when you can kill them before the first gen is done and the entire game snowballs from there, but until you can snuff that flame ASAP just focus on the weaker targets or your BP and pips are going to suffer in a big way.

  • It feels like they also nerfed the faster pick-up back to the original one. At least that's my impression during gameplay.

  • @powerbats said:
Does he stay at 120% during entire Frenzy or get more ms if he attacks more or is it just the more hits on others refreshes it it?

120% stable through the duration, hitting a fresh target just refreshes it.

  • Legion is definitely different and is going to take some practice. So far, I'm finding Feral Frenzy to be more of a hindrance than help given DW's quick healing time, having to drop chase to apply it (or opting for 3-hit chases), and it's only helped me locate a handful of nearby survivors. Still working on boosting the perks' tiers before I judge them, but I'm not finding Legion's power very impressive at all. I'm talking Freddy-level useful.

  • +1 to this. Especially right before they drop the Santa cosmetic for him. Took all the holly out of his jolly.

  • OMG we're getting the Clown Santa outfit?!

Christmas is complete, y'all. Everybody can go home.

Wait... ######### did they nerf Big' Un's belly bounce before this? "Bowl full of jelly," they said. Ah, man...

  • Trying to level the bloodweb enough to get Bamboozle to see if it affects the pallet vaults, too. Would definitely end a pallet loop quick, fast, and in a hurry!

  • edit Taken down for better pics later. Off to work!

  • True. And with the upcoming chapter, there'll be, what, 54 Killer perks and 59 Survivor perks? Double that for 2 tiers if somebody wants them all or even a particular set, and there's still plenty of reasons to keep leveling past 50 and still plenty of BP to grind, so it's not like the vast majority of folks would run out of reasons to continue farming BP anytime soon.

Would also make me less apprehensive about prestige, something I've only done on a few characters because I finally got decent perk sets for my favorites and dread the idea of grinding them out again (and again, and again) just to be able to sensibly play them with bloody clothes.

  • Chester's idea to remove a tier from each I think would be a fitting fix. It would cut 1/3 of the grind away, the early versions of the perks still would be viable (not that new players would be OP against experienced players during resets, anyway), and it would provide new character progression a reasonable perk set to be able to play relatively competitively within a few levels instead of grinding to, say, 30-40 and still possibly not having a decent viable perk set with which to play. It sucks having to grind on one character and BP dump into another over and over without being able to competitively and actively play that character to get used to them in the process.

    What's an easy cheat violation?

Easy Anti Cheat. It's an automated system side-loaded that catches folks who have hacked or modified the game. Load up into a lobby with a person who's made of mess of themselves and it disbands the lobby and notifies you why you're sitting back at the character selection screen.

  • Effectively killed the only source of noticing SWF groups without having to waste the entire countdown trying to check friends lists... without implementing any indicators to show them definitively. Honestly, when I play solo survivor, I have more lobbies dropped due to the killer having an Easy Cheat violation than getting dodged outright. But now as Killer, well, that's pretty crappy taking away any semblance of recognizing sweat shops.

    "Pretty good job so far."

Prepare for an intense upswing in DC's from Killers. Time to hold off on the offerings.

  • Survivors: "I wish Killers would use something else besides the boring meta build..."
Killer: ~ loads up Insidious ~
    Survivors: "NO... not like that!"

Perhaps if they made poor ol' doting LF more than a blaring loud siren with a yellow neon sign attached he wouldn't be a camp meme. I seem to remember him surprise attacking the majority of his victims in the original movie; seems they overlooked that a wee bit in the designing. Until then, dog will hunt and Bubba will camp. Take one for the team; if he's on you, that means several gens are primed for the rush. I do rather like the idea of some "Where's Bubba?" memes, though... make those happen.

  • So, speculation then stating why there would be a problem if that speculation was correct? I don't see why that triggered folks, but alrighty then.

Ugh. I gotta' say I'm a bit disappointed, but meh.

Power is probably whenever you hit somebody, you can take on their likeness to a degree or something of the like. I feel as though it'll be worthless, given 9 of 10 matches tend to be 3+ SWF w/comms. Hopefully they've thought this through, though... surely, right?

Crap... I really wanted a Wendigo, snow vamps, or Krampus :( Looks like a gritty reboot version of Last Year's Strangler with a generic mask.

Dude, it's only an image. We don't know anything yet. O.o

Welcome to humanity, where people make stuff up about a subject they know nothing about and then judge the subject based on the stuff they made up.

Oh, so the definition of speculation? OK, folks, no more speculation; not allowed to speculate on teasers anymore unless it's to gush over the most pleasant of possibilities. Prepare for the arrival of our lord and savior, Mr. Hoodie Bland McMulti-Mask.

Amazing that a mention of one possibility triggered so many. It's like I posted a pic of the new Starbucks holiday cup.
  • If that does turn out to be Mr. Bland's angle, it sounds like a "Jack of all trades, master of none" type of deal. Depending on what boons each personality would have, could be fun and challenging trying to master him. Hopefully he'll at least have decent cosmetics.

  • Everything about the new killer is assumption from all of us.

  • ^^^ Kinda' makes you think everybody wanted a Wendigo then, doesn't it? I get that Hag is close to one and all, but I still guarantee it would've looked more imposing and singular than a Great Value Strangler with a survival knife and a set of Halloween masks from Wish-dot-com. Look-wise, I don't see much more that could be added to this character that's not shown here to make them stand out compared to the other killers in design. Quite generic and pedestrian, frankly.

  • Them catfeesh, tho.

  • It's not any of the characters I was hoping for; I'm allowed to be disappointed. Hard to argue that the killer looks bland AF. And, oooh, another knife weapon? Yay!

Since all any of us can do is speculate on the killer's power using the image provided, I don't think the idea of changing personas is a bad assumption... more than you provided or even discussed. I'm also disappointed in your trolling and inability to use basic grammar, so unless you have something worthwhile to add, perhaps you should, indeed, remain speechless. You are correct that the community is mental, though; in particular are the ones who just hop in and take swings without adding anything worthwhile.

Not all folks are doing cartwheels and shooting off fireworks at this sneak peak of the killer. Boring weapon, drab cosmetic look, especially with their color palette as shown apparently going to make hunting on a prospective snow-themed map laughable. I don't know why that's difficult to fathom.

I'll judge the killer properly upon release, but as far as speculation from this image is concerned, I feel allowed to be disappointed... most certainly.
