I play killer a lot more, but when I play as a survivor, do I hate tunneling and camping? Just as much as anyone else. The urge to leave the match is very much there, but I was told the rules before I went into the match and somewhere along the way I fkd up. As soon as I'm hooked, I see it as having lost the match, unless a teammate unhooks me. When they do, I'm happy to have a second chance. But I don't blame the killer for their chosen strategy, claiming "they made my experience bad" because, really, I made my experience bad by doing something stupid that got me hooked. Anyone who thinks that their enjoyment from a video game is out of their control is in denial.
Complaining about camping and tunneling is like killers complaining about survivors being able to 360, or heal themselves.

Why have two Billy's?
-
It's like they slowed him down at the start of his saw attack to make his chili addons useful, but they still suck. I feel like hes generally ok with beasts marks and carburetor tuning guide, those addons are just so rare.
-
Damn, that's crazy, lol. I've had weird matches in the past, but there's usually some sense to it, like the average of the survivor's ranks is equal to the killers. But this is something else, haha.
-
Oh on their end yeah, definitely.
-
How do you figure?
-
I've been seeing more on both ends, too. At one point I had a handful of games in a row where the killer would DC randomly, even when they were winning.

There's like 4 people on this message board who just troll. All of them use the same reasoning, and all of them are equally #########.

Leatherface... but I feel like I'm shifting to the Spirit.
aaand... Sweatpants Meg or Vigo's Apprentice Pants Claudette. If I had the poofy pants for Jake and Nea, I'd play them too. Hell, if there was a survivor that was just a pair of poofy pants, they would be my main.

Is there a way to have it switch to 720p automatically upon startup, or does this need to be done in the system settings before each play?I wish
I've been able to switch to 720p from 1080p while a game is running, but it won't let me switch from 720p to 1080p unless I quit whichever game I'm playing, and restart it. I've had it on the automatic setting, and it still defaults to 1080p for dbd.I can switch from both while game is running.
I don't know if it's a ps4 pro only feature btw.
I haven't been active lastly to test more, sorry. Other games seems to care/adjust/optmize more about console.Sucks that you're not playing dbd anymore, but I'm not surprised - it feels like it's being half assed at times.
Anyways, I don't know if this is relevant to you at this point, but I stumbled on another possible solution, rebuilding the database. I found an article online that suggested this after I encountered fps issues with the 720p res, and there was no way in hell I was gonna play at 480p. This may have fixed some separate issue on my end, so maybe it won't work for everyone, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
Rebuilding the database is pretty simple too:
- Power off PS4
- With PS4 off, hold power button until a second beep is heard.
- Select rebuild database.
The system warns this could take hours, but when I did it it only took 5-10 minutes. Hope this helps.

I've been playing survivor a lot more recently, and I've come to find that survivors have benefits that killer's don't get to enjoy.
Survivors are able to engage with the trial as much as they see fit; if you want to hide the whole trial, you can do that; on the other hand you can choose to engage more by getting chased and unhooking people; your bloodpoint scores will reflect this. The greatest aspect to this, really, is that as a survivor I have a few options regarding how stressful I want the game to be, not always, but often. As a killer, it's ######### or get off the pot.
Also, survivors can leave the trial early. When playing killer I am stuck in the match until it finishes, but as a survivor I have been able to earn 5-10k BP quickly and be out of the trial in a few minutes, even if I die. So, if I focus on playing that way, I can get in 3-5 games in the time it takes my killer to complete 2-3. Pretty good when I consider that as a killer I'm not guaranteed to earn 50-60k each trial.
It's pretty neat that as a survivor I can leave a trial with an item, even when I didn't bring any in... then continuously reuse that item. As a killer I have to spend points just to improve my chances to win, but even then, if I get genrushed and can't secure many hooks for BBQ I can leave the trial with 10k BPs. Only earning 10k doesn't happen often, but it only pays for the addons I used to enter the trial, meaning I gained virtually zero bloodpoints from that trial.
To be frank, I don't have a problem with survivors earning more BPs, really. I see them do it all the time. Although, I do have a problem with them earning BPs more easily than killers, because those potential BP gains are sometimes the only reason a person is willing to play as the killer.

Effectively killed the only source of noticing SWF groups without having to waste the entire countdown trying to check friends lists... without implementing any indicators to show them definitively. Honestly, when I play solo survivor, I have more lobbies dropped due to the killer having an Easy Cheat violation than getting dodged outright. But now as Killer, well, that's pretty crappy taking away any semblance of recognizing sweat shops."Pretty good job so far."
Prepare for an intense upswing in DC's from Killers. Time to hold off on the offerings.
What's an easy cheat violation?

Not to mention, they misspelled "quietly".

It's a fake, because... language. Whoever wrote the description is using an adjective, e.g. "stealthy", which describes or modifies the noun killer, essentially tossing the yeti into a generalized category of any killer that can be called stealthy. But, with every killer, that first line in the description is used to describe their power, so modifying the noun killer doesn't make the most sense. The killers are typed by their powers with nouns and verbs. Which makes sense if they want to illustrate the actions the killer takes when they use their powers.

This game isn't called "Survive by Daylight" :P
-
Doesn't retain original hatch mechanics because if the doctor gets a survivor to madness level 3 they wouldn't be able to interact with the hatch and as things are now, survs can enter the hatch with an RBT on their head. I suppose they could add an exception to allow for it to be interacted with, regardless of any status effects, but that could just mean bugs.
-
@White_Owl said:
I've seen it a lot of times (and it happened to me a couple times) since the introduction of this feature, and most of the times it happens when the survivor is basically on the other side of the pallet.
Personaly I dislike this mechanic, which looks bad (the survivor just drops down like a bag of potatoes) and as I said leads to hits that shouldn't have been. Even as killer it feels bs honestly, because if the survivor managed to get to a dropped pallet in time he shouldn't get downed without any counterplay. Instantly destroying a pallet with the survivor right in range for another chainsaw hit already seems good to me.
TL;DR Cutting both a pallet and the survivor is a bad mechanic and should be removedUsing the chainsaw in a looping situation is high risk high reward, and usually ends in nothing more than breaking a pallet. Which, even when broken with the chainsaw, hinders them for 2 seconds giving the survivor an 8 meter lead time before the killer has even determined which direction they ran; you don't even need to consider the distance gained as the killer charged their power.
So, assuming the killer knows where the survivor ran, it will take ~3.5 sec (2.5 sec at bloodlust I) for every 2 meters of distance that needs to be closed. Considering that pallets are usually 14-16m apart, if the survivor knows where they're going they can make it to a pallet before either hillbilly or cannibal can get in range to even lunge.
Meaning that without the downing + breaking combo, the survivor could essentially straddle a pallet anytime the chainsaw power came their way in a chase to easily buy enough time to get to another pallet. This could go on forever, and speaking from experience, it happened all the time while playing the cannibal.

It's provides a way for killers to teabag survivors, making it very useful.

Good point I hope they are. And I respect mr Powerbats.
That said why not have the hatch spawn as is if a key is brought in. Or spawn as is if found in game. Were it doesn’t spawn otherwise until the 3rd is dead . Give survivors exposed. And the exposed goes away if the hatch is camped for say 20 seconds or longer.with both not knowing were the hatch is.
Just a ideaHell, sounds good.

Hands down, experience in both instances. With little experience, the killers face camp and sit there hitting their first hooked surv, and the survivors either stay lockers the whole match or you'll see them sprint in a random direction at the first hint of the heartbeat.
As you hit rank 1, it all comes down to optimizing your priorities. As a survivor, don't unhook teammates in front of a killer, especially in front of a killer carrying another teammate; that ones takes newer survivors some time. As a killer, don't camp (too close >=D), do learn when to give up on a chase; like when a survivor runs around that big tree in coldwind farm at the beginning of the trial.
Basically, knowing how to adapt your chosen strategy to the current situation, with any resources that are available to you, while also knowing how to respond or react to events that don't go your way. As soon as you become complacent, repetitive, or predictable, you lose.

Because the people that are asking for it don't play killer (or atleast don't play killer seriously)
Rank 1 leatherface here, would totally love a shapeshifting or doppleganger type killer. >_>
It could work, I think, if creating a lobby with the shapeshifting killer only allowed three person swf groups, and gave the killer the same character model as the survivor that randomly joined the lobby. Although, I imagine 4-man SWF groups would complain about that.
It's not very realistic, but it's fun to dream.

The hatch should operate around the trial ending in a tie, which the devs said happens when two survivors have died and two have escaped. To balance around that idea, the hatch should only open for the final survivor, if at least half of the other survivors have been killed/sacrificed/disconnected. A few examples:- One survivor died, two escape; hatch does not open. Survivors have secured half of the victory.
- One survivor dies, one escapes by opening a black lock; hatch doesn't open until one of the two left dies.
- One survivor dies, one disconnects, two are alive; hatch opens if either of the two left escapes or dies.
- Two survivors die, one escapes by opening the black lock; hatch stays open for fourth survivor.
- Two survivors die, two are alive; hatch doesnt open until one escapes, or dies.
- Three survivors escape; hatch turns into a mimic, opens, and eats the last survivor when they try to escape through it.
As it stands now, it's unfair because the hatch can be used to circumvent certain killer powers, like the Pig's reverse bear traps; three survivors escape, the last survivor with an RBT simply jumps through the hatch and dodges death. That alone should be fixed, regardless of any changes.
You really think a survivor has a chance to get the RBT off and get to the hatch in normal gameplay?
I'm not sure why you think they have to get it off then go to the hatch, they will have three exits to choose from in the given scenario. Consider that the point of the RBT is that the survivor is restricted from leaving the trial until the RBT is removed. The hatch is an exit just like the exit gates, so it shouldn't be treated any differently. Considering that the RBT has been balanced against regular exits, and that the hatch is an exit all the same, I don't see why it should have some special power to negate reverse bear traps.
You're not sure why I think they have to get off the RBT then go to the hatch? Then you explain that if they don't, it should kill them if they try to exit via the gate, and feel the hatch should as well?
You lost me.
You said the hatch circumventing abilities like RBT are unfair.
If it killed the survivor same as trying to get through the gate, they have to take it off before trying or Game Over.
Thus I ask, do you think the average survivor, on their own, can take off the RBT, then get to the hatch, or have to look for the hatch to get to it?Do you know how the reverse bear traps work? I'm not trying to be patronizing, I'm serious. And yes, I'm 100% certain that survivors are capable of removing their RBT, and then escaping through the exit gate, or the hatch.
Yes, I know how they work. When the trial starts each trap is assigned a jigsaw box that removes the RBT. They have 2 min 30 seconds from the time gen activates to find that box.
If they don't, it activates, killing them.
The RBT timer does not run during chases, being hooked, or being slugged.
It goes off at a certain proximity to the exit regardless. It can be bypassed through a hatch escape.
Basically.I didn't ask if you thought survivors could get a trap off, and escape. It's obvious that as a group, they can.
I'm asking how realistic you think it is for a lone survivor, 3 of the 4 sacrificed, or exited, to get the right Jigsaw Box, find the hatch, and escape with a not potato Pig player after them?I'm not trying to be mean about it, I just want to get some idea of how good you think the average survivor can handle the situation.
I figured that's where you were going with this, and to be frank, the answer is relative and only leads into a subjective territory that we couldn't escape from without data that's relevant to the respective population. I mean, I tried taking the existing balance within the game as an implication of what data the devs have, then made inferences about balancing that would be fair. At least that's what I attempted to do by pointing out that the conditions to leave through a regular exit gate and the hatch are very different. If I can trust existing balancing to be a rough indicator of what's fair, then the current hatch mechanics don't make much sense to me, given that it's a more powerful exit that requires less effort to use.
But to be fair, and make an argument against killers; survivors are supposed to function as a single unit, and what's left of their team essentially represents the trial's progress, and who's winning. So, when there's only one survivor left, that whole unit is crippled, and the killer has secured victory. And, even though it's a single person leaving through the hatch, they represent what's left of the survivor's team. After survivors have lost, they should be eligible for the compensation provided by the hatch. But, if they have cleaned house, I don't see why they should be allowed to use something that can negate a killer's power. The killer should be compensated if he's losing by not letting the hatch open, if no survs died which would be fair according to what the devs defined as a tie.
Yes, you knew where I was going with it, and you still dodged the question. C'mon, man.
I want an answer. Your honest opinion.
Do you think the average survivor, alone, could take the time to remove an RBT, and find the hatch against the average Pig?
Lets try the above average pig with tracking perks.
Or just patrolling knowing the survivor has to get things done, which narrows their objectives.
Think the survivors might DC more? Not only to give the hatch, but so they they don't have to put up with an escape stacked too heavily in favor of the killer?Seriously, if the hatch is too damn hard to open, or use, it may as well be gone, and anything short of opening the gates, or having 1 gen left as the last person alive means the last survivor should just walk up to the killer to die.
I'd like to think we both know that's bullshit.
At that point it's not a victory for the killer, it's [BAD WORD] pity by means of game mechanics. On the killer.
And mercy for the survivor.
There's no challenge left for the killer who can patrol the rest of the objectives, and tunnel down the last survivor.
The last survivor probably won't want to deal with that crap. Game mechanics pretending they have a decent chance. They'll DC, or worse leave, or review bomb.
Otherwise the survivor has to go through what ever obstacles are left to get the gates open, or what ever reworks the hatch gets while the killer can basically hold the game hostage, or press their advantage. Can we try to be realistic? If it's impossible, or close to impossible for a survivor to survive, even now, they'll DC. Can you imagine what it would be like if they knew they were caught between a rock, and a hard place with the hatch thoroughly guarded?
From a lore standpoint, utterly cutting off hope from a survivor goes directly against what the Entity wants. The entity doesn't want people giving up, and losing hope. The hatch gives people the hope of escape when the odds would be severely close to impossible otherwise.
The "data" is borked. It's full of DCs, people killing themselves, moris, and so forth. Not straight sacrifices. C'mon. That data is nothing to go on in terms of "balance."
Haha, and you still go for it, tsk tsk. As a side note, I said in an earlier response to you that I am 100% positive that a survivor could remove their RBT before escaping through the hatch, or the exit gate.
-
I mentioned this a few days ago because everything I have been seeing regarding the new killer has been reminding me of Until Dawn. But, I did a bunch of research and after reading about wendigos, I think they could be too tall. They're 7ft tall or something like that. But I agree that they would be pretty schweet to have in the game. Although I don't know what their powers could be, unless they corrupted the humans that they bit, turning other survivors on eachother.
Someone suggested benedict baker the other day, which would make the most sense.
I also think it's possible that the character is a sort of doppleganger considering that there are 4 reflections in the mirror, and the killer himself peering into the mirror, implying that he hides amongst the survivors. Like maybe his power would be to take the appearance of the survivor farthest from him until he attacks a survivor, allowing for some major mind games.
-
######### I keep clicking on this.
-
Oh damn, dis a good wun. I just realized a moment ago that there were 4 people, but tying this back to baker is brilliant.

oh I can answer number 1, the amount of these on forums about hatch too op pls nerf is my problem, here I can help with this, hatch is a endgame chance for survivors, giving the final survivor a some hope of surviving, which this can lead to how killers get/earn bloodpoints but that is another lore related thing, the hatch was made so killers wont be completely overpowered to the point the game would be unplayable, which is why the existence of the perk left behind, but nobody pays attention to a perk that can help you activate hatch if you have 4 or 5 generators left I already know that im gonna get alot of ######### about this because people always find a hole in my commentsThe devs stated that a tie was when 2 survs escape, and 2 survs die. if 2 survs have escaped then they have performed well, and secured at least a tie, regardless of the killer killing anyone. So why should they get the hatch in this scenario like they do right now? Survivors are a team, and just because two other teammates exit the trial doesn't mean that all survivors should be entitled to surviving, which the hatch essentially does in the case of other survivors exiting.
EDIT: Hell to be honest, the hatch has saved me so many times as a survivor. I'm terrible as a survivor, so I think survs need the hatch. Just not in every situation where there's one surv left.
