  • @Kagrenac if you truly want to understand why some killers dodge, try playing nothing but killer for an entire month, and don’t half-ass it. You aren’t accepting the answers that you are being spoon fed, so the only way for you to understand their point-of-view is for you to play killer yourself.

  • @Dreamnomad I posted this over 2 months ago, but you obviously haven’t taken the time to even acknowledge it, so excuse me if I don’t take your sincerity seriously:

    Change Bloodweb to Tokens

P.S. A large majority of the community has purposely NOT prestiged, as there was absolutely no plus side other than the crappy bloody clothes. If you all of a sudden change that, you are going to have a very pissed off community.

  • According to the discord chat, you buffed flashlights with this change as well, by increasing the flashlight save window by 0.5 seconds. Flashlights are already OP, why buff them?

  • @harry14141414 said:
    Give them a break .

It’s been 2.5 years. Their break is over.

  • Here’s the problem with the timer as it is:

    • Survivor heads to hook for the save and gets smacked while doing so. (potato survivor camping the hook)
    • Injured survivor unhooks hooked survivor, and I smack the potato performing the unsafe unhook. (potato is now in dying state)
    • I leave the potato slugged, and chase the unhooked survivor. Anything else would be stupid on my part. I am not tunneling, as I clearly got 2 hits on the potato, and downed him/her.
    • I down the unhooked survivor, who now has DS activated.

How is this fair? If I down any survivor other than the one that was unhooked, DS should immediately be deactivated.

  • @Sinner said:
Yes it's a bug. Before there was no timing, whenever you used pallet or flashlight during pick-up animation, the survivor escaped. They tried fixing it at some point and killers went apeshit so they left the bug as is.

You have it backwards. The devs stated that the highlighted statement above was a bug, not the other way around. Get your facts straight.

  • The killer might have been just the right distance away to only get stunned, when you dropped the pallet. He literally needs to be at the pallet. As for the flashlight save, you did it way to late. The old mechanic was the shoulder, the current mechanic is around the ankles/shins.

  • There’s a nice built-in feature on the PS4 that makes it easy to prove lagg switching to PSN. First, setup your machine to record up to the last hour of gameplay. Then, when you have a real lagg switcher, press and hold the Share button, then press square, and the last hour of play is recorded. Trim the video to just that game, and upload the clip to YouTube (private). Make sure to note the PSN ID and report them, adding in the URL to the private trimmed clip of the game.

It’s that easy, but make sure you really know what a lagg switch is. If you do this and it wasn’t lagg switching, guess who gets the ban. HINT: it won’t be the person that you were reporting.

    Waiting for DBD on Android

DbD is already on mobile devices, in a more cartoonish version. It’s called Identity V.

  • #3, #7, and #8 are plain stupid, learn to play. I can agree with the rest. #4 is way over the top though, less than 5% of the matches I’ve been in have either. It’s usually a killer daily when that happens.

  • @SpaceCoconut unfortunately, most people prefer to play checkers rather than a good game of Chess, Monopoly, or Risk. For those who value the strategic thought that Hag, and Trapper require, I too would like to see more strategic killers. While Legion is somewhat strategic, it’s more on the brain dead side. A killer that requires survivors to be stealthy, and seriously penalizes those who are not.

Something like, if you run, your aura can always be seen. The killer has no terror radius, and makes no noise, unless he is chasing a survivor, or there is LOS to any survivor. Something like a Spoopy Myers, but not quite. It would make corn fields an excellent hunting ground, and not a safe place for survivors to run and hide. He’d need to have a 32m TR while not in stealth mode, but I think it could work. Ghost Recon meets Jack the Ripper in Dead by Daylight. :)

  • There is only 1 good thing about this post. While BHVR has done many stupid things in the past, and will do even more stupid things in the future, but this is one stupid idea that we don’t have to worry about. Even a survivor main, who absolutely never plays killer, would understand that.

  • @Paddy4583 said:
Yep, they said they were not going to ever put a clown into the game too, don’t listen to the streams, they lie

BHVR never once said that they wouldn't put a clown into the game, that was just a rumor that players were passing around. Prior to adding the clown, they did say that some people have real phobias about clowns, but they never said that they wouldn't add one because of that.

  • It’s funny how you didn’t take the time to read the other thread discussing the exact same thing. You are obviously a newbie, as you don’t have any idea how many times the devs have talked about this, nor do you have any idea of where they stand. Try watching some dev streams, and maybe you’ll learn a little.

To put you out of your misery TL;DR, the devs have stated that this is all working as intended. ENJOY!

  • BO0ON said:

Gotcha, And as said before we are punished for leaving during the game(-2Pip) and you guys are rewarded. How is that to make a fuss? Killers gain something out of DC players while survivors have the most possibilities to still lose items with no bonus points when a killer DC's. However, It is beside the dodging point.

You are assuming that I only play killer, which would be a mistake. I play both, and it definitely hurts more when being short handed as a survivor, but it does hurt as a killer too. The only time I use a Mori is for dailies, or against someone I know (good, bad, or otherwise).  Some survivors just want to derank, which is happening across the board right now.

If I notice that there is not a full group, and the survivors aren’t trying to be toxic, I usually go easy on them, let them get some blood points, and at least a safety pip, before ending the match.
  • > BO0ON said:
    > Ok, whoa there.. Survivors DC cause of a hidden offering, I don't buy it.

This happens all the time, leaving you in a match with less than 4 survivors, no matter how long they’ve waited to get into a match. If they missed the offerings display, they DC the moment the killer uses the Mori.  There are only 2 killer offerings that are secret, the Mori’s, and the Shroud of Separation. Every survivor knows this, or learns very quickly. The Shroud of Separation is rarely ever seen.
  • @Orion said:
Of course. That's why I report all forms of toxicity in every multiplayer game I play. I see it as doing my part to help purge the cancer.

Just be aware that being toxic is NOT reportable, and abusing the report system will get you a ban. The devs have stated this at least twice since last Summer, on their live dev stream.

  • @The_Crusader that is what I discussed above. All they need to do is move the skill checks to the client, instead of having the host send them. It’s somewhat easy to fix, but time consuming, which is why they haven’t fixed it.

  • He’s referring to the long standing issue where the host (Killer) has sent a skill check to your client, and you stop the action either before it is received, or at the same time that is received. The latency of the connection, and the lack of properly handling the latency, is the problem. The devs have acknowledged the issue, and have thus far ignored it. Even though the loud sound event that is produced, can have a profound differnce in a match, they haven’t considered worthy of their time.

  • @BO0ON watch the dev streams. They’ve talked about it at least 3 or 4 times in the 18 months that I’ve been playing.

  • @MrsPiggyIsSoSneaky that is not possible on PC or PS4. I don’t know about XBox. No game is allowed to disable party chat on PS4, and no game can interfere with another application that is running on a PC, so I don’t know where you got that idea.

  • The devs have specifically stated several times, that the killer can leave the lobby at any time, for any reason, and they encourage killers to do so. Survivors have the same option, which they can and should use for bad latency. The moment the counter reaches 0 and switches to the offerings page, disconnecting is not allowed for any reason. The reason that killers are allowed to see what survivors are carrying is because the killer is at a disadvantage, and again, the devs have stated that it will not be removed.

  • @Master said:
Exactly, only one guy of the SWF loses his offerings (you dont lose items during loading screen dc btw), his mates keep all his stuff and this way they can conveniently dodge everythign they want.

Yes you do lose your offering the moment that the display leaves to lobby. If you leave prior to the counter reaching 0, you keep your offering, and leave the match shorthanded. This latter option is allowed w/o any repercussion. Leaving after the screen chnages is not allowed.

    @Master said:
But we will never have a whole SWF being punished for the DC of one single guy since this would be unfair to the others. Also it woudl require a complete revamp of the matchmaking system

Maybe say you, not the devs. The devs seem to want to hold all memebers of a SWF accountable to the actions of others in their group, so we’ll have to wait and see. FYI, the “revamp” of the matchmaking system is almost complete, and it does keep track of SWF. This was stated several times in the dev streams last year.

  • @KingB please move on. This is a completely different topic.

  • @Master said:
Dodge moris or map offerings for example

And how would this change that? If you disconnect, you still lose your items, and 2 pips. I guess if only 1 person in the SWF takes the hit, that could possibly be abused under the current lobby system. Currently, once a player enters a lobby, all SWF information is lost. Part of this requires that it not be lost, so if 1 person in the SWF DCs prior to the match beginning, all in the SWF are penalized for the DC. It will have a nice side effect too, as those with bad Internet connections will either fix their connection, or risk losing their friends.

  • @KingB said:
Imo if someone DC's killers should have the option of giving survivors a surrender button. Everyone gets 5k bloodpoints and a black pip while getting back any items/add-ons/offerings. Yes some will abuse it but if it is abused then we have what it is now.

This is a completely different topic, that is off-topic for this thread. I am referring to disconnects PRIOR to the match starting, NOT while the match is in play. Your solution WOULD be abused by everyone.

  • @Master said:
    Swf could abuse this easily

Abuse what? There is nothing to abuse. If there aren't 4 survivors at the time that the game starts, each player is sent back to a solo lobby, with their addons and offering as they were.

It has simply something to do with the fact, that PCs are way more powerful.
When my graficscard alone costs more than a PS4...

That’s debatable. A PS4 is more powerful than most of the PCs that people use every day. This game doesn’t need a graphics card that is that powerful. The inefficient code is the problem, not the hardware. Take a look at Horizon: Zero Dawn, which has an absolutely amazing environment that no other game to date has even come close to. It runs solely on PS4, and doesn’t have any of the frame-rate issues that DbD does. That should be more than proof enough.

  • All of the events prior to Hallowed Blight, were by far more fun for both sides. The hooks were sometimes a little too difficult on the killer side, but it was still fun. Hallowed Blight was utter crap! It wasn’t even DbD, it was something else. The Moonrise Event is significantly better than the Hallowed Blight, but again, the event planners had their heads up their asses when considering the point distribution, and pitting survivors against each other.

The so called bug fixed in the last hotfix, was the only good thing about the event, and now it’s gone. The survivor side NEEDS to be cooperative, not competitive, and the killer needs to get like 3x as many points as he does now. You can have a 4K and only get 12 points, due to the event planners not understanding anything about the players who play the game.

  • Try playing Spider-Man and then tell me it’s a PS4 issue....NOT!

The only reason that PC plays better is because they code everything for PC, and consoles are an afterthought. BTW, it is significantly easier to code for consoles than it is for PCs, as consoles have fixed hardware. PCs are a disaster to code for when it comes to video games.

  • Killer mains are playing survivor for this event, since playing as killer gets you no points. Just another stupid idea and serious lack of foresight on the devs part, as always.

  • If you are getting a NAT error, that is 100% your problem. You need to fix the issue. If you have nothing more than a router provided by your ISP, you will need to contact your ISP. If you have other equipment, you’ll need to fix it yourself, as most ISPs will not touch consumer equipment.

  • @Maelstrom1313 wait times are region dependent. I am assuming that you are not in the US, as there is no wait time at all for killers in the US. Survivor wait time depends upon how many people are joining. Solo is about 3 minutes, and 4 can take up to an hour when you take into account the lobbies that you have to leave due to the killer being on the moon.

  • It has always meant one thing, and one thing only, “The killer is camping me, stay the hell away and do gens”. If you’ve been mistaking it for anything else, it’s just that, a mistake.

  • @Gamzello there is no wait time at all for killer. Once I create a lobby, It is full within 10 to 15 seconds. If you are not seeing that on PS4, then you have some other issue.

  • Bravo0413 said:
I thought they pulled it out because they had problems with it?
That was like 2+ months ago. They said that they would slowly roll it out in January, after they make some changes, which they have been doing. Over the last few weeks they have slowly been switching over, as the changes are sever-side. The client-side changes were completed last year.
  • @AlwaysInAGoodShape time for you to move on. If you don’t understand what “Baby steps padawan” means, then I can’t help you. Your holier than thou attitude, with an over abundance of useless unproven information, doesn’t work here.

Outright false. May sound convincing if you believe that if someone is not a Christian, they will start "killing everybody on the streets".

Ummm...dude.....what are you smoking? I read enough of your post to know that you know nothing about balance, as others have also stated. You don’t consider any of the counterpoints, just like BHVR doesn’t in most cases. Unless it’s sitting right in front of their face, or your face in this instance, you aren’t seeing how broken this is. If you think I’m going to waste a couple hours to counter every single one of your statements, you are sorely mistaken. Have fun, you’re going to need it.

  • Ummm...why do you think we’re getting matched with people on Mars? The new matching system is worse than all previous systems, and is in effect right now.

  • TL;NGTR

This is another stupid idea that would just break the game more than it already does. BTW, don’t post a million links to other threads, if you want anyone to take you seriously. I can absolutely guarantee you with 100% certainty, that if this was done, the game would be forever broken. Baby steps padawan.

since you only get the points if YOU escape

    Ummmm....WRONG!

Once one survivor has escaped with a vessel, all survivors alive at the time of the escape get credit for the vessel. If you’re talking about the 4,500 BP for escaping with a vessel, big whoop-to-doo. The only thing that matters is the 45 points that you get for the gens + vessel escape. Even if you die, you get points for the progress up to the point of your death. In case you don’t understand what that means, if you have a vessel and the exit gates are open, GET THE HELL OUT SO THAT EVERYONE GETS CREDIT!!!

  • @starkiller1286 said:
It ended in a 4k in about 2 minutes I'm not even a good trapper.

This is because it is so damned easy for survivors to pip that we have truly rank 15s and even rank 20 at rank 1. The rank system is a complete joke, and this entire thread proves it even more. The ranking system needs to go back to the more difficult level that it was, and perhaps even harder than that. More than half the survivors at rank 1, play like they are still rank 15.

  • Only a 4K counts. I don’t remember if a DC counts, but I think it does. Also, you can’t use a Mori, everyone needs to die on the hook.

  • It isn’t a bug in the lobbies that is causing this, it is just a severe lack of killers, myself included. Why? Because the so called improvements have made playing Killer even worse. The sounds are still screwed up beyond belief, and I’m not going to play a game with so many bugs. It isn’t fun. If you want survivor lobbies, then BHVR had better get off of their asses and fix the bugs that make it unfun to play killer. I’m going back to Spider-Man, which is 100x more fun than this game in its current crappy state.

  • @Master said:
It will be worse for killer, but better for survivors

It will be worse for everyone, no one will get better, but your overall experience might. If everyone has a great connection, the overall latency will still increase, and the overall experience will be somewhat worse than it is now, by a few milliseconds. If all the survivors have great connections, and the killer has a poor connection, the survivor experience will be similar to the previous great experience, but the killer’s experience will be significantly degraded.

How will the experiences degrade? That all depends upon how BHVR codes the conflicts (conflicting actions coming in asynchronously). I would guess that they start with the current KYF situation, where the observer is the host (dedicated server), and go from there. Currently, the survivor is at the mercy of the host (dedicated server), and so is the killer when playing SWF. If you’ve ever played SWF as killer, and you are not the host, you know how broken then current system is, so I doubt that they’d leave it at that.

  • @Slyther83 said:
Here's the thing- I actually work in the industry. Dedicated servers will provide better latency for all players averaged out- people will ping 50-75 across the board, during the game (not fakenews lobby latency), rather than the killer pinging zero and survivors at the mercy of thei killer's personal connection and rig (current status). I appreciate your trying to make a counterpoint, but what you said about increasing the overall latency is 100% false. If people have a poor connection, then it will affect only them (also, it's THEIR problem) not the other players who have a stable connection. I genuinely don't care what quotes you have about BHVR- whether or not you're quoting them directly or not. I manage a 55,000 sq ft. datacenter and provide infrastructure as a service for enterprise customers exponentially larger than BHVR. I know what I'm talking about- and this isn't even a complicated/debatable topic.

This is not a data center issue, it is a physical location issue, and I am 100% correct. The P2P latency we currently have is much lower than the client-server-client latency that we will experience once the switch to dedicated servers is made. It’s simple math, instead of a single line between survivor and killer, we have 2 lines. This is why BHVR said the EXACT same thing, this WILL NOT reduce the overall latency, it will be at the very least, slightly worse. I’ve been writing software for over 40 years, 99% of that software communicates over long distances, and globally. I think I know what I’m talking about, and not just blowing numbers out of my ass.
