  • If you are playing ANY online game, you should NEVER use WiFi. WiFi is unreliable under all circumstances, should never be trusted, and is because of the way that WiFi works. ANYTHING that corrupts a data packet will cause your connection to stutter and WiFi packets Are very easy to corrupt. You need to need to be wired to the Internet, if you want a reliable connection.

  • I think it is kind of funny that you stated that you have been playing for 3 years, as it was almost exactly 3 years ago when they switched from producing a balanced game to going fully killer sided. There was a major developer turn-over at the time too. They stated that the reasoning for buffing killers was that new players found it too difficult to play killer, so they progressively made it easier to get started, and even easier over the past 3 years. So much so, that a baby can now play killer and get 4Ks. The down side was that high MMR killers jumped from a 60% kill rate to an 80% kill rate.

The wall hacks added to killers, the lower recovery times, and severe lose of safe pallets, are all the result of these changes. Killers had no problem prior to the changes that began 3 years ago, you just needed to practice. Be careful of what you wish for, as you may actually get it. Then when it utterly fails, things will go back to where they were. The game doesn’t need killers as much as it needs survivors, which is why they are making the current changes.

Any killer getting more than a 60% kill rate, is doomed to be nerfed. It’s a fact that BHVR had been trying to ignore, but they can’t ignore it any longer. I mostly play Hag, Pig, and Trapper, with a sprinkle of Wraith and Doctor. I never camp, not even proxy camp, nor do I tunnel or intentionally slug. The closest I’ve come to slugging is when a “bully” squad tries to have a little too much fun, and I just down all of them around the first survivor that I downed. The last guy on the ground, gets the hatch.

Do 4 man teams win against me? Yes, like 20-30% of the time, while we mostly split the match unless I really want to be a try-hard (Which is extremely rare). I play to have fun, and I tend to like longer matches around 12+ minutes. I almost always let the last person have the hatch, or an exit gate. Anywho, I really wish Puppers was still around, as the current players have no idea how fun this game used to be when he was still with us.

  • This bug is back, at least on PS5. Trying to vault the shack window is throwing me into a locker, and the locker is not in my view when this happens.

  • This applies to all survivors, not just Vee Boonyasak. It makes it impossible to see your heartbeat.

  • You are very close drsoontm, to what needs to be done, and what they will probably do. Both the body, and head, need to face the trap for a set amount of time (I think it's like 0.1 seconds), which would completely eliminate the issue. This is one reason as to why the trap radius was reduced, instead of increased, when they updated the hag to help with TP hits. Unfortunately, those changes also created the current problem, as they only made the survivors head face the trap, instead of the whole body.

As for what HuskyDogLover is proposing, that is way off. The Hag can already immediately lunge after a TP, and that lunge is extended because the Hag loses all momentum after a TP and needs to start running from a complete stand-still. Any kind of hinder effect would be extremely overpowering, just look at what happened to the Clown. I like the Hag (a.k.a. Lisa Sherwood), but I don't want to see her overpowered like some other killers are.

  • I can confirm that the supposed fix is no longer working, and I play on PS5. It worked for like 1 patch, and the following patch completely broke it again. This is exactly what happened several years ago when you made the exact same fix. Backing off on the time allowance, breaks this fix completely.

I did post back then that there is another option as well, if you made this work like Overcharge. If you start repairing a gen that has Overcharge applied, and immediately let go of the gen before even knowing that the gen has Overcharge, you are given the option to hit the skill check while running away from the generator. Why is this not available to normal skill checks that you have absolutely no indication of when leaving a generator?

P.S. This also applies to healing skill checks, which have the exact same issue.

  • Hey Rizzo,

I updated the report to show that I'm on PS5, so there's no logs that I can attach.

    Best

  • How many perks are there and still growing? The impossible to manage point was several years ago.

I wouldn’t say “gave up”, more like delayed. Long term, there is not other option than to end stacking.

  • Consoles can't really use the search bar. It takes longer to type in what you’re looking for, than it does to check every page.

  • This thread is a good laugh. The purpose of Spine Chill is 2 fold:

    1. To prevent chases altogether.
    2. To let the survivor know that the killer is still chasing them when there are LOS blockers.

When I play killer, it is easy to know when a survivor is running it, so I approach them from an angle that they don't expect. Just pretend you are playing Spoopy Myers, and you'll have no trouble at all getting into chases and downing survivors. From what I've been reading, to many players have had it way too easy, and haven't really learned how to play the game.

  • This is working as intended. You are not allowed to save more than 1,000,000 BP. Spend the BP that you have, and you will be able to collect more.

  • This is just one more play out of the "Streamer Rule Book" to get players to stop playing the game properly. Every single streamer who uses the word "boring" to define any play style, is doing so to prevent you from playing the game well. The "Streamer Rule Book" is just as much BS as the "Survivor Rule Book" is. Just stop the BS!

I wonder if DBD has enough servers to support that huge of player-base. this queue times are way too long for such massive number.

They're using AWS, so it scales up and down as needed. There's no practical limit to how many players that the game can scale to.

one of your posts is just insults how is that out of context? im being rude? you are inferring im an idiot in every reply and i have done nothing.i didnt attack you im saying you're continuously insulting me and asking you to stop.quote me copy and paste the exact comment you think "Stating that I said anything different is a false statement on your part. Instead of attacking me"

your not linking your points together in a way anyone else can follow saying your trying to make the case for stealth and going on about all the good your do for your team be looping for 5 minutes getting saves and completing gens. none of these are stealth

Dude, at this point it is crystal clear that you are trolling. I explained the "5 minutes gen" statement to you in 4 different posts, yet you have ignored everything that I've said in each post. You have failed to provide any information to counter my statements and continue to twist my words into something that I clearly rebuked. Stealth is here to stay, and BHVR is moving the game to a healthier, stealthier, state. You can either adapt, or have a miserable time in the game, it is completely up to you.

  • @IamFran said:

I'm happy stealth is unrewarding, we already have enough Claudettes crouched in bushes using urban evasion and iron will. If it was more rewarding they would be more then... Is so boring to play against stealthy players.

Is better to learn loops and mindgames, more fun, and you get more points, I was a stealthy sv long ago.

If the last few new maps, and the latest map changes, are any indication of where BHVR is going, it is definitely toward a more stealthy play. If they didn't want players to use what you hate, they would not have added them in the degree that they have. This is one way of slowing the game down tremendously w/o making it tedious. They've said it before, this isn't COD, and they don't want DbD to be that type of game.

    this entire post

this is you insulting me for no reason.

you're trying to make the case make the case that stealth lets you do _________(fill in none stealth related objective here) and then you infer im an idiot for saying your not making sense. it stops being a stealth play when you get caught. nearly everything you've posted so far has been unwarranted insults and the rest is you trying to make the case for stealth being good by using non-stealth plays as examples.

Dude, you are being extremely rude. I can't even understand what you said here. I'm sorry, but from what I can understand, you are taking my words out of context and twisting them to meet your narrative. Stealth, when used properly, is the very essence of this game. When used improperly, it's like sandbagging your entire team. Stating that I said anything different is a false statement on your part. Instead of attacking me, why don't you attempt to prove your point?

you don't use stealth to get 5 minute chases you're not making sense and you're insulting me for no reason just stop

I am not trying to insult you at all. You keep taking everything that I say out of context in an attempt to negate everything that I've said. If anything, it is you insulting me. Telling me to stop responding to your false statements is against the forum rules. The 5 minute chases was an example of what happens when I am being chased. It is not an example of me being stealthy.

  • @Joeric29 I figured out the problem. The PS5 will let you play the game before it is fully installed, which is what causes the problem. In order to play, you must wait until the game is fully installed. If you start it early like I did, your loadouts will be lost and you'll need to redo all of them.

  • @DwightFairfield said:

They're things that a killer can do, but they shouldn't be viable nor should they be promoted as playstyles to such an extent that perks need to be designed to counter them. It's aggravating and practically uncounterable because eventually you are going to die and you can not do anything about it. I'm not saying they should be bannable offenses but they should at least be frowned upon enough for Behaviour to do something, anything really, to fix the issue.

I definitely try not to do either, as I play both sides. Sometimes the unhooked survivor just runs straight into me, so I hit them. If I realize that it was the unhooked survivor, I'll usually leave them on the ground and chase someone else. If they're still there after I down someone else, they are fair game.

BTW, if you watch any streamer, every single one of them camps in some form. They either proxy camp, or they leave and come back after a small amount of time. No matter how you try to justify it, it's camping, plain and simple. The difference is that there are effective ways to camp, and ineffective ways to camp. Literally staying at the hook the entire time, is not an effective way to camp.

As for tunneling, when used effectively it ends the match extremely quickly. It can be so effective that matches end extremely fast and everyone depips. So stating that tunneling is not viable, is 100% false.

question in op's post isn't "why isn't running the killer around for 5 minutes rewarded" its also not "why isnt getting saves rewarded?" you are just overlooking the post this in reference to and insulting me

Why do you insist on being clueless? I specifically stated using stealth to achieve those goals, but sometimes you get caught. Is that so foreign to you? It shouldn't be, as that is what the game was designed around.

what are you even talking about? "When I do get chased and run the killer over the entire map for up to 5 minutes" you clearly aren't playing stealth if this is what you are doing

If you don't understand what I said, you obviously don't know very much about the game. Even if you do play stealthy you will eventually be seen, thus the chase. It's very concerning that you either don't know this, or you didn't even consider it.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^this

stealth as a survivor is an indirect sandbag thats why its not rewarded

NOT! I play Claudette most of the time, I do the most gens, and I get the most saves. If I don't do the gens, or get the saves, either nobody else does or everyone rushes the hook like an idiot. Rushing the hook in mass is a great way to sandbag the entire team. When I do get chased and run the killer over the entire map for up to 5 minutes, maybe 1 gen gets done, if any at all. Maybe you should learn how to play the game properly?

  • @Superyoshiegg nope. The 2nd one is the jean jacket that I talked about. The Ski Jacket is like 4x the thickness, and it is completely missing. I also noticed that ~1/2 of the tshirts from the collection are missing, and Meg has none. Almost all of my survivors were wearing something other than what I had them in ~2+ weeks ago as well. I'm wondering if this is related to the Twitch shirt screwup?

  • It's a puffy ski jacket, red, white and mostly blue, and looked really cool him. There's a jean jacket that is red and blue, but it's not puffy at all and looks pretty sad.

  • @Drekathar WOW, nice necro of a 19 month stale thread. EXCELLENT JOB!

  • I don't know why Otz is getting these kinds of matches, but I am certainly getting the appropriate matchups. When the batches are unbalanced, it can lead to unbalanced matches, especially on the higher and lower ends of the MMR, but that is expected. If they didn't use a batch system, which selects say the first 100 killers in the queue, and the first 400 survivors in the queue, and then matches them as best they can, then we'd be waiting 10, 20, 45 minutes for matches.

After about 5 or 6 matches, the system seemed to be pretty much dialed in, with the exception of the outliers (see above). Even the outliers weren't that bad. I no longer get killers that literally camp everyone on hook until they're dead, and I no longer see survivors that are so scared that they hide the entire match. Watching a survivor inch to you so slowly that you die on the hook before they get to you, is beyond frustrating. And YES, this is exactly how red ranks were before the MMR system. It's nice playing with survivors who actually do totems as well.

I'll be killing this weekend, so we'll see how that goes, but I don't expect anything different. For those who are curious, I play on the PS4 (only play PC for the PTB), US-West region, and this is the first time in an EXTREMELY long time that I can say that they actually did something right. When was the last time that they did something right? When they reworked Hag. That's a LONG dry spell.

  • This occurs on the PS4 too, as described by the OP.

  • This also happens while repairing a generator. It happened multiple times, but we didn't know what was causing it. I'll check to see if perhaps it is happening when the gen passes 50%.

As far as I know Steam takes a lower cut than Sony and Microsoft.

In any case if the past DLC on consoles was the same price as on PC then its Konami taking a cut, its the only difference between this DLC and the rest.

    Again, that's not an answer.

@not_Queen why is there a price difference?

  • @HectorBrando all platforms take a cut, especially Steam, and all past DLC has ALWAYS been the same across all platforms.

  • It’s working as designed. When 2 actions occur within a short amount of time of each other, both actions are allowed to occur. The amount of time is typically, Killer latency + Survivor latency + Server latency, and there might be additional padding as well.

  • TBH, Moris don’t have a place in the game, and should completely be removed, including Tombstone. Keys can be reworked to ONLY allow the reopening of the hatch, or to be used after ALL of the gens have been completed. You can’t balance a game while either of these mechanisms exist in the game as they currently do.

  • @PeenutsButt3r said:

I expect devs to put a delay on Doc's shock therapy, otherwise they just zap a survivor on the hook and no one can save them

If you, as a survivor, are camping the hook, you have already failed. You might as well just stand still and let the killer kill you. If you are camping the hook, then the killer is not, as he is actively hunting you. Big brain plays require big brain moves, so LEAVE THE HOOK! Do gens! Do totems! Just the hell away from the hook, and stop killing your teammates buy camping hooks as a survivor.

I know you can do that, but it happened WITHOUT changing files. The 5th survivior who played on PC was the streamer, and he didnt do anything.

This means that there must be a way to EDIT theses things on SERVER SIDE, and you can change settings of ANY PLAYER.

Or, imploring “Occam’s Razor”, it’s simply a server-side bug, which is highly more likely given the circumstances.

  • @Archimedes5000 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1129250#Comment_1129250

    Yeah, thats what I said

There is a glitch that lets 5 surviviors or 2/3 killers join one lobby.

The weird part is that it was the streamer that got "summoned" from PC to PS4. It kind of impossible for these bugs to happen at the same time, the only explanation is that someone exploited it.

I dont know how exactly matchmaking works, but I guess its possible to have a streamer join a wrong lobby, with a wrong ID...

Since there is only 1 set of dedicated servers, which is shared across all platforms, it is possible for PC players to hack the files and make the servers think that they are playing on a different platform. Consoles can do the same thing, but they need to modify the packets in transit that are being sent to the server.

  • @Mikeadatrix said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1128577#Comment_1128577

No, you're wrong, it would be the best thing to happen to this game since queue times would be practically nonexistent.

Prove that statement. If platform A doesn’t have enough killers, survivors have long wait times. If platform B doesn’t have enough killers, survivors have long wait times. If they combine, survivors have long wait times. It’s simple math, and common sense.

  • For all calculations in the game, all survivors are exactly alike. There is no difference in size at all. However, visually they are different, which affects what a killer can, and can’t see.

  • The DC penalty system is good as it is now, though it should be made harsher once the issues are addressed. A percentage based system was in effect for years, and we all know how that went....COMPLETE FAILURE! Some streamers were DCing left and right, with no penalty at all due the number of hours that they play.

Now we have a system in place that is effective, everyone is FINALLY agreeing that DCs are just a symptom of much greater issues. The DC system should not be neutered because of the greater issues. The greater issues need to be addressed individually. Reducing the DC penalty will significantly hurt the game, and will just hide the greater issues.

This is a case where you need to seriously break it, in order to find the weaknesses.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1078876#Comment_1078876

The irony of saying I didn't read your post when you didnt read where I addressed that.

Again, you don't seem to understand game mechanics. I don't care that you're a professional streamer, but you might want to think outside the box every once in a while. Your so called method of slugging and reviving, would be a bad play by survivors. But then you don't like stealthy play. Sorry, but you don't know everything, and neither do I, but I do know that this is easy to implement, and would be fair.

  • @ScottJund said:

That would not be fair to survivors. You can't penalize survivors just because the killer is bad and can't down or hook people. It would also heavily encourage and in fact reward excessive slugging. Even if it gets disabled when a survivor is downed, it would start back up when the survivor is picked, meaning the killer could go around slugging everyone, keeping them injured, and then once everyone is injured and at a bad spot, then he will start hooking.

The more complex you make it the more abusable it becomes. This would be way too strong.

You obviously didn't read what I posted. Once a survivor is downed, the effect is Paused. This will have not help a slugging killer in any way, unless the survivors play poorly. In which case, you're going to lose anyway.

  • This idea has merits, but is fundamentally BROKEN!

Why is it broken? Because the chase mechanic is 100% unreliable. Why do you think Mend no longer uses it. Instead, change the mechanic to Pause when a player is downed. When any downed player gets up, the mechanic Resumes in full effect. The only way to permanently End the effect, is to hook a survivor. Once the first survivor is hooked, and the Pause/End phase-out is over, the game plays as it currently does.

Pause/End should linearly phase-out the mechanic over 15 seconds, while Resume should phase-in the mechanic within 1 second. That is how you balance the mechanic, and there would not be any possible way to abuse it.

  • Another necro’d thread, but everything that I stated over a year ago, has come to pass. Could things be better? ABSOLUTELY! Will they get better, probably not. The developers working on this do not have the knowledge or expertise. Out with the old, in with the seasoned experts. That’s the only way that this will ever be fixed properly.

P.S. This goes for the game level designers as well.

So DbD is BHVR'S main source of income right? The ruin changes are bad enough that it's going to drive a huge number of people away from the game and severely compromise the playerbase. Isn't it therefore fiscally irresponsible to go through with a change that could potentially cripple the company's main income? I'm really wondering if we may be seeing the beginning of the end for BHVR itself

In July 2019, BHVR accepted ~$20M from a Chinese investor for a non-controlling stake in BHVR and a member on the board. It would appear the answer is yes. TBH, I couldn’t care less if BHVR goes under. They haven’t done anything to make the gaming experience better.

  • @shadowlightnign didn’t you hear? The ranks are being removed from the Scoreboard. Once that occurs, only SWF will see your rank, and only when that buggy feature works.

Nice way to change the context. We were talking about recent changes, and recent queue times. I don’t think that anyone would consider 1 year as being, recent. However, over YOUR 1 year, there have been just as many survivor buffs, so your point is moot.
