If you are having trouble playing killer in 2019 that's on you.

You are certainly the minority as shown in statistical information or by any streamer.

Otz just played 16 games of trapper without Ruin and brown add ons and 0 games were 5 gens completed

That is not at all what I said. Please read it again, and answer correctly.

  • @Might_Oakk playing as killer is pretty bad right now. There haven’t been any killer buffs, other than Freddy, and the implementation of Oblivious and Undetectable, which is more of a wash, so I don’t know why you think otherwise. I guess Scratched Mirror Myers is now way over the top, as he doesn’t have his stain anymore, but that would be it. People thought Legion was getting a major buff, but they changed Mend, so he actually got more of a nerf.

Survivors on the other hand, got A pretty significant buff to BT, due to the Mend changes. It’s pretty easy to bully any killer right now, due to some of the bugs that killers are seeing. Lunging around corners, or windows, is rarely working correctly now. The camera will lock onto some random object and it gets hit, instead of the survivor. And matches have been extending to 20+ minutes because of the issues. Not fun at all.

  • I stopped playing, and won’t be playing again, until this crappy matchmaking system is fixed. As the OP has stated, I’d rather wait 15-20 minutes for a match with players of the appropriate rank, rather than playing with players ranked 10-20. Seeing ranked 18-20 survivors up against a rank 2 killer is just sad, and not fun in any way. Each survivor loads in individually, with at least 3 seconds between each player loading.

This has been going on every day since the last patch, on the PS4. I am also, for the first time ever, starting to play with the exact same players, over and over again, which means the player base has has significantly declined. And the weirdest thing ever is that I have not played a single game against the Oni, in the past week either. I’ve gotten the map like 2 or 3 times, but never have I even seen the Oni.

  • The only thing that I agree with is that the Ebony Mori should be removed from the game. Aside from Devour Hope, and Tombstone (which needs to require more evil), there should not be any other way to kill multiple survivors by your own hands.

As for Keys, I think they are fine as they are, but I would make one change in regards to them. If a key is used in a match, and the killer closes the hatch, then the hatch should not open for the final survivor. The reason being, the hatch has already served its purpose, and there is no reason that the last remaining survivor should be allowed to use it w/o a key.

It would also be nice if the hatch respawned somewhere else, once it is closed, and that the doors always spawn on opposite sides of the map.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

in my opinion keys should only allow the guy who used it to escape

Let the sandbagging begin, as that is exactly what this will cause.

  • @Peanits made this remark in a previous thread:

“We don’t want you going to the kitchen to get a drink while on second hook.”

It’s an absolutely ridiculous statement, but that is why we are forced to button mash.

  • @Fibijean yeah, I saw that later. I read your comment first, so I just responded to it. Anywho, have an AWESOME evening!

  • @Fibijean said:

I feel like this would be pretty open to abuse.

"Hey, you loop the killer around the hook while I do generators. We'll be out of here in no time."

That is not camping, as I stated in my post. If there is a survivor within the “proximity” range of the hook, then the killer is not camping. Thus, there is no way to abuse it, only stupid survivors giving the killer more power.

Ehh that's kinda a waste since even if you catch up you'll get hit with a 4 second stun which will give them a lot of distance

ROFL...I guess you’ve never tried it. Try it sometime, you’ll be surprised how well it works.

  • @Edys cool. I agree that you proved nothing, as that is not how matches go. Have a nice day!

  • @Edys yeah, right! If you think that’s how the game works, then more power to you. Since it doesn’t work that way, I’ll disagree.

In that case, dw is not active either way.

Or did you forget thats what we were talking about?

Dude! How difficult is it to understand this?

    1. Stun Legion.
    2. Legion enters Frenzy,
    3. Legion hits survivor that stunned him. (Timer begins to count down)
    4. Legion follows survivor until he/she catches up.
    5. Legion drops Frenzy,
    6. Legion follows survivor until he drops.
    7. Legion wins

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/854056#Comment_854056

Yes yes...better give the survivor another burst of speed after catching the survivor so we can chase them all over again

When you get to the purple and red ranks, you’ll understand exactly how it works. You might want to consider following the survivor after hitting them, and then dropping Frenzy once you’ve caught up. Mind blowing, right?

If the person is injured...why bother with dw? A normal attack is a down already.

    Mobility

  • @Edys sorry, but your thought that the video is not a normal scenario, is wrong. Almost all of the Legions that I run into, will only use Feral Frenzy a couple times, or so, until everyone is injured. Then they switch to basic attacks to down everyone. Therefore, they always have Feral Frenzy on demand for this, or to just get around the map.

  • @Edys he can apply deep wounds AFTER being stunned, exactly like is done in the video. Then just follow you until you drop.

  • @NinoV1 said:

There’s a very specific order of things that need to happen for legion to get that ability. Won’t be a problem.

ROFL...Yeah! Stun Legion, and let the fun begin. That’s the very specific order of things that needs to happen.

  • @Spirez you are correct, I meant Undetectable. I’ll fix that, and yes, under those circumstance the aura is not working. We did all 5 gens and I only saw Ghost Face once.

  • @thesuicidefox does and of those 3 perks have a down side? No, but Rancor is supposed to.

  • @TheHourMan yes, and that is explicitly called out in the patch notes.

  • @HatCreature if it’s a stealth killer, Undetectable is now blocking the survivor’s aura reading, which is supposed to be it’s downside. So with stealth killers, there is no downside.

    EDIT: Changed Oblivious to Undetectable.

  • @coppersly you might want to change the title of this thread to something that more adequately describes your post, as the current title doesn’t really make any sense. The updated Nurse is fine. The God tier Nurses out there are still God tier Nurses, but the matches are no longer ending before they really even get a chance to begin. It was way too easy for even a beginner Nurse to get 3Ks, and now they struggle, which is the whole point of the changes.

A killer that doesn’t have counter play, is not fun to play against, nor is it fun to play, unless you happen to be someone who doesn’t care about anyone else. Once the Spirit is also normalized, the game will be much more fun across the board. If you play survivor, you’ll notice that there are now other killers in the game, which is a good thing. It is definitely much more fun to play killer now, than it was even a year ago.

Unrelated to DbD but exclusives are a toxic industry practice designed solely to rake in cash by selling the game + console as opposed to just the game. Why do you think they pump out consoles every other year and tie games to that one and no others ;)

Every game should be playable on PC, they're designed there for Christ sake.

You might want to fact check your statements. The PS4 was released in 2013. The PS5 will be released in 2020. That’s a 7 year difference, which is 1 year longer than the PS3 to PS4 transition. Your understanding of “exclusives” is entertaining, and your last statement is of no relevance. Just because the developer used a PC to write the software, doesn’t mean that it runs equally or better on the PC. Is your PC a good rice cooker?

500 hours since August. . . my god.

Honestly, I don't see why postponing the event is such a big deal. It just delays the rewards. Not like we'll be doing anything knew.

There was a tweet earlier that the event passed Xbox certification, it just needs to pass Sony before they release it on all platforms. So, take it up with Sony and the PS4.

You obviously don’t know anything about how releases work. Blame Sony? Blame Microsoft? Who are you going to blame next? Try putting blame where blame is deserved. It’s BHVRs incompetence that is to blame for everything, and not another company who has publicly made its requirements known to everyone concerned. If you fail to meet the requirements, it’s your problem, not theirs.

  • Body blocking is not reportable under any circumstance, unless you are preventing the player from playing the game for AT LEAST 10 minutes. You must also prove it with video evidence. That is the bar that BHVR has set.

If the game is over in 8 minutes, and you were unable to play for the entire 8 minutes, that is not reportable. It’s scummy, but not reportable.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system

  • @Fibijean you have derailed this thread, so this will be my last reply to you. Google is both successful, and bad at business, but that has absolutely no bearing on this thread in any way. BHVR is making a money grab by presenting fake numbers, and has failed to respond in any way. If it was a mistake, they would have said so by now. At this point, it doesn’t matter what they say, as we can be assured that it will be a lie.

  • @Fibijean Death Garden is proof enough that they are bad at business.

  • @Fibijean it’s simple math. In a perfect world with no loss of time, their calculations are at the very least 30% lower than is physically possible. Their numbers specifically state that the average person should be able to complete the entire Rift in 70-80 hours, which is physically impossible. Their wording would include all time spent, and not just these perfect world numbers. So, either everyone at BHVR failed basic math, or they purposely fed us false numbers. A court of law considers both to be fraud, so I’ll have to disagree with your perspective.

  • @johnmwarner several people have done the calculations for a perfect world, based on different game length times. The ~120 hours I state has a margin of error of +/- 15%, and is based on the average game length being ~12 minutes + lobby time + end game time + loadout & Bloodweb time. The amount of time that it takes to get the lobbies will vary based on several factors, and is impossible to calculate with any amount of accuracy, but ~40 hours seems about right for when I play.

  • No one should buy the “Rift Pass” unless:

    1. You have completed the Rift prior to the Rift ending, and thus will receive everything on the Rift, including your 1,000 Auric Cells back, or
    2. It is the last day of the Rift and you are happy with the items that you will receive for spending 1,000 Auric Cells.

The cosmetics have 0 (zero) actual value. It is up to you to determine if the items in the store are worth the virtual values that BHVR has placed on them.

  • @Fibijean unfortunately, the 70-80 hours stated by BHVR has proven to be inaccurate. The absolute minimum is ~120 hours of game play, which does not include the amount of time that you have to wait in order to get into a match. If you figure that time in, we’re talking ~160 hours on average. Being off by a factor of 2 is extremely negligent, and deceptive. BHVR knowingly made these false statements to deceive players in attempt to grab their money.

No one should buy the “Rift Pass” unless:

    1. You have completed the Rift prior to the Rift ending, and thus will receive everything on the Rift, including your 1,000 Auric Cells back, or

  • @TheDarkWall I was trying to be nice, as virtually everything that you stated is either false, or misguided. I’m not going to nit-pick through a wall of text, where nothing is really salvageable. You know nothing about the industry, which is very easy to discern from the words that you used, and how you used them. You don’t even talk about the 10s of millions that BHVR made (well or $100 million now) from DbD and squandered. Ever heard of Death Garden? FYI, Evolve and Dying Light came out long before DbD, as well as many others.

@TheDarkWall meet kettle. Your arrogant attitude is not appreciated here. BHVR is using DbD as a piggy bank to fund several other projects instead of fixing the numerous bugs/issues that increase with every patch. The technical debt keeps growing; however, it does appear that they are at least hiring qualified people now. Something they failed to do for almost 3 years. BHVR is the largest game developer in Canada. They have lots of money, or at least did until they released their failed products.

Instead of being a blind DbD fan boy, try learning about things that you know nothing about. I can’t believe that a console player would be so clueless to think that PC games are better. I’ll respond to you, exactly how I respond to a PC elitist. Almost all of the best games ever made are only available on consoles, and PC games don’t even come close to them. Since PC hardware can vary by very large orders of magnitude, that advantage can never be fully realized. The lower end machines would never be able to play games designed for the higher end machines, that few can afford.

  • @TheDarkWall if you at all knew who Space Coconut is, you would not have written at least half of what you have. It appears that you have been playing the game for less than a year, so you don’t understand how wrong you are on certain points. Maybe a year from now, if you are still playing, you will understand the frustrations that seasoned players have with the way that BHVR has handled the game. If you were to step away from the game for 4 months, and then come back, you’d realized just how broken this game is when compared to other games. You can’t treat this game as if it was in a vacuum. So, we will need to agree to disagree on almost all points.

It’s honestly just a perk for people who can’t get kills because they suck. I haven’t seen a single game of killers without using it. I’m at purple ranks and it’s annoying dying to some BS hex because as a team, we decided not to break totems and actually focus on objectives. I was thinking of a away to make it a actually somewhat skillful perk. Why not make it so it gives you a high amount of haste? It already gives you a slight movement speed increase, so just remove the expose and increase the speed boost?

Totems are part of your objective; therefore, you failed. BHVR said this when they added emblem points for doing dull totems, and increased the BP as well. Learn to play.

Isn't that what peanits said was going on.

I think you are misunderstanding "testing". You're looking at it in the sense of a pilot study (think ptb) before the main experiment. I'm looking at it through the lens of the main experiment, testing the efficacy of the proposed solution.

Like I said, there is no need to be pedantic around one word on a forum related to a game.

Everyone should be happy the are looking into any adverse effects of the changes they made immediately and testing the actual validity of the change rather than just accepting the face validity it has among some killers.

This in not a test. The patch notes do not state that it is a test. Peanits did not state that it is a test. You are the only person who is stating that it is a test. The patch notes state that they have made the change, end of story. There is no mention of it being a test. Peanits said the same thing, and stated that are watching it just like they do every other change. When they say that they are testing something, they EXPLICITLY state that they are doing so. Like testing the dedicated servers. This is not a test, and thankfully after 2 years of asking for it, they’ve finally made the change.

  • /sad

Those pages are over 2 years old, and were written long before the Emblem System was put into place. Also, BHVR has stated numerous times that the tutorial guides are just beginner notes, and do not encompass the game as a whole. The simple fact that neither of you knows that, means that everyone here is just wasting their time on noobs, who know absolutely nothing about the game, or its past, and refuse to learn how to play the game.

Good luck on your close minded views of the game, but this thread is clearly a waste of time for everyone.

P.S. You do know that "primary objective" and "main objective" do not mean SOLE objective, right?

I was saying the official winning condition, I have fun.

And that is where you are 100% wrong. The OFFICIAL WINNING CONDITION is to get enough emblems to either 1) Depip, 2) Safety, 3) Pip, 4) Double pip. The definition of “WIN” is different for everyone. For you, it sounds like only #3 & #4 are win conditions. And YES, players consider #1 and/or #2 winning conditions for themselves, which may vary. You need to “EARN” enough emblem points to achieve your “WINNING” goal.

Doing gens, and exiting through and exit gate, or the hatch, is NOT the definition of a winning condition in any way or form. BHVR makes the game, it’s their rules. Either earn the emblem points, or fail to achieve whatever goal that you have set.

LOL, seems like you don't understand the post. If he were to run at the killer and give them free hits because he's bad that would made the killer entitled to make us play a certain way to pip, right? Even when some of these average killers catch someone we have to compete with 3 others for the unhook, all the while the killer is Proxy camping.

How is he suppose to get heal and distraction points when the killer is just terrible, or the survivor who is being chased doesn't even need healing? I've actually had matches where I had to run at the killer and force them to chase me.. Does that make the killer entitled in your view? I have to give them chances because they were unable to play their current picked killer well?

Please think logically from both sides before commenting. Both sides have major problems.

The same goes for you. Maybe you’ll learn how to play the game the way that it was designed to be played, or maybe you won’t. If you don’t, I’m sure we’ll see you complaining about it in the forums. BTW, you might try understanding my post instead of replying blindly. It is very apparent to everyone else that the OP was not painting an accurate picture. The emblems he shows are proof of that.

To which I don't agree, I did 40% of the objective plus I opened a door.

So I'd say that doing roughly half of the objective permitting my team to escape is helping my team.

Doing gens and the exit are not your whole objective. Your full objective is to do gens, help/assist others, and get out. You are missing the help/assist others completely, and it is 50% of your overall objective, as it covers healing, body blocking, distracting the killer, and evading the killer. All you did was evade the killer, and you weren’t very successful at that.

It is this misunderstanding that makes survivors think they are entitled to things that they haven’t earned. Play the game correctly, and you will be rewarded. Play the game as you have, and you’ll be added to the list of survivors who believe that they are entitled to a win every match.

  • @Nazeef13 said:

In this thread: people mixing up high and low rank.

Low rank = experienced; high rank = inexperienced. Please remember that so that we know exactly what you are trying to discuss.

    ---

Before the update, survivor ranks were averaged and a killer with a close enough rank to that average was matched with them. If that doesn't create a fair match for the killer, that can imply two things : 1. Rank is meaningless (e.g. a rank 10 is not twice as skillful as a rank 20), 2. There is discrepancy in regards to actual skill between killer rank value and survivor rank value (e.g. a rank 5 survivor or average group rank of 5 does not fairly match up with a rank 5 killer).

A long term solution would be meaningful rank that correlates across killer and survivor, which they have stated they are working on in the third anniversary stream.

A quick fix for swf and matchmaking now would be to just adjust how you weigh ranks when averaging swf. For example, weigh red ranks 2.5x as heavy, purple 2x as heavy, and green 1.5x as heavy as yellow (adjust weight values based on internal testing of what is considered a fair match). So if you have ranks 3, 3, 14,14 instead of going against the normal average killer rank of rank 10, you'd go against weighted average killer rank of 6.

The reason that many are calling the current patch a punishment, is because we moved from being slightly survivor sided to completely killer sided when there is a wide rank gap, instead of finding a fair middle ground.

Imo the current patch will cause more problems than solve:

    1. Swf Matches will be extremely killer sided when there is a rank gap, compared to slightly survivor sided prepatch. So whatever issues killers had with the prepatch matchmaking will be even more problematic for swf groups. Just shifting the burden to the swf (which is fine, it's not the killers problem), but in the process making the problem worse than before in magnitude (which is not fine).

    2. Friend groups and swf with rank gaps stop playing together to avoid problem 1.

    3. Deranking to avoid problems 1 and 2.

You have your ranks backwards. Everyone who has played this game for any length of time calls Rank 1 the highest rank, and Rank 20 the lowest rank. This is based on what a leader board looks like. Rank 1 is on the top, while Rank 20 would be at the bottom.

I didn't dodge anything, you just didn't listen.

Killers getting rewarded for losing = bad

Survivors getting rewarded for winning = good

If a killer is playing with NOED, that killer is only playing with 3 perks until the exits are powered. That’s one hell of a killer. Take away just one exhaustion perk from a survivor, and they forget how to tie their shoes.

Being happy cause SWF are being nerfed into ground? Whats now the purpose of playing SWF-Squads while having a high rank player with you who ######### up all other survivors? Taking highest rank is the same dumb ######### as saying the lowest rank should count. Thats one of those changes that will backfire really quickly cause peoplle cant play together anymore, cause theyre srewed up by their own teammates.

I try to play both sides equally, though I do prefer killer more. When I play with my friends, they have more time to rank up, much more than I do. I used to be a rank one survivor every month, but RL prevents that now. I FREAKIN’ luv this change, as I prefer to play with high ranked players.

When I first started playing over 2 years ago, I was playing with SWF and was constantly playing with rank 10 to 6 killers. After a day or 2, I learned what usually takes new survivors months to learn, simply because of being placed into the situation, and my friends helping. Did I die a lot? Hell yeah. I was the first to die for like the first 6 matches, but I figured out what works and what doesn’t work.

I primarily play a stealth game and am the gen jokey, and savior, which I luv to do. I power through Hex: Ruin, to the dismay of the killer. If I get chased I don’t like it, but I can hold my own, and usually end up losing the killer, letting the others have their fun.

Now when I play Hag, be afraid.....be VERY AFRAID!

You are probably playing on PC and don't know how bad the situation on console is. Believe me, it's very very bad. I usually play on PS4 and since this weekend is free-to-play, I seized the opportunity and tested DbD on PC. It's a completely different world.

I play on PS4, and I do have a PC account for PTB access only. You don’t seem to understand that the 2 are tied together. With one, you get the other, which was my point. However, I am most likely leaving the game, as BHVR has broken their last promise. What they broke with the engine update in November 2018, still hasn’t been fixed.

In fact, things have only gotten worse. The audio occlusion has completely broken audio for killers, and was completely broken with the Ash update. There are absolutely no survivor footsteps, for most survivors, on most of the maps. There is buggy sounds where a specific survivor’s footsteps, can be heard on a specific map, while in a specific area, but that’s like 2% of what we’d been hearing for over 2 years. While at the same time making the killer’s footsteps so loud that they blast your eardrums.

Plus, do you remember that they made it so that all hook auras could be seen, even when nothing is obscuring their view? Well, that same November 2018 update broke that, and they could care less. It’s going to be funny when 250K+ PS4 players leave the game to play Predator: Proving Grounds, and BHVR is forced in bankruptcy. They’ve only had 1 successful game, and that game is coming to its end.

  • @NoShinyPony said:

I don't need 60 fps. I would be happy if the game would run well at 30 fps without performance lags/freezes.

  • FYI, BHVR never said anything about there only being “human” killers. What they specifically stated many times is, “humanoid” killers. They never said no beasts either, as a werewolf has always been a possibility. However bears, lions, elephants, etc., are not currently possible.

  • @Mew said:

Loops cannot be infinite anymore because of the entity blockers

though there are some pretty busted loops that are very survivor sided (looking at you, disturbed ward)

This is a false statement. There are some overlapping loops that are either double or triple loops, where entity blockers only block 1 path for basically 1-2 loops. With balanced landing, there are in fact infinite loops if the RNG of the progression system is in your favor. Hell, the new laboratory map even has one, and has been documented in several videos. BHVR is oblivious to these loops, as they don’t know how to run them themselves.

  • @UlvenDagoth said:

It's kinda loud yea, but I'm pretty sure the Devs have said it's supposed to be. I could be wrong, and it does mess me up in chases. But the main thing it does is make me jump when I don't see the Survivor first.

You would be mistaken. No one at BHVR has ever said that, in fact, they’ve said the exact opposite. Just watch the old devs streams. They’ve said it on at least 5 streams.

  • @Pyromann700 Steam recognizes my PS4 controller as a PS4 controller. However, DbD doesn’t check with Steam to determine which controller is being used. It automatically assumes that all controllers are for the XBox, even the official Steam controllers, which is just laziness on BHVR’s part.

1 2 3 4 … 13
