I think the OP in his ignorance thinks that only streamers care about wait time. He can’t imagine that anyone else cares to know how long it takes to get a lobby.
-
Take a look at Flip Flop, and you will no longer be happy. It’s worse than DS ever was, and when stacked with the new DS it’s a guaranteed escape. Flip Flop is going to force tunneling now.
-
I’ve decided to take a leave from the game, as this matchmaking system is not fun in any way. And from what @not_Queen has said, it is not going to change anytime soon. The devs have their heads permentaly implanted in their asses, which explains part of it. The community asked for a better matchmaking system, which could have simply been adding a timer to when your next match should occur.
Noone asked for the crap that we have been given, where killers and survivors are being matched with ranks that they obviously should not be. In their own dev streams they say, “If you stay in a lobby with a high latency, there is no one to blame but yourself.” Well, now we can definitely blame the devs, as they are specifically creating these useless lobbies, that will be dodged, and waste everyone’s time.
-
@Orion I ignored the first 3 months, as it was obvious from the numbers that there were serious issues. If you look at the trend line of all time, excluding those 3 months, you’ll see an extremely small increase over time, but that increase is smaller than any margin of error, so again, it should be ignored.
Ups and downs are common in all businesses, and DbD is no different. Only when the trend line chnages dramtically, and for no apparent reason, is there cause for concern, or joy. Since the PC sales is less than 10% of all DbD sales, the Steam numbers don’t actually mean all that much.
-
@SmokePotion Legion may have a very small roll, but you failed to look at all of the time frames. Back in September, there was a HUGE growth spirt, which I believe is when there was a sale on PC. Since then, there has been a steady decline to where you are now, which means this can’t solely be attributed to Legion.
Look at the 1 year, and all time trends, and you’ll see a fairly flat line, which means that the PC is neither gaining, nor losing. However, the curve at the very end, these past 2 to 3 weeks, is different from everything else. Legion was released over 3 months ago, so it is something else that is causing the current PC down trend.
My guess would be several factors, the end game, those waiting for the new DLC, the new matchmaking system, and people thinking that dedicated servers are going to be a magic pill (they won’t be, BTW). If the new ranking system is powerful enough to give ranks meaning, it could be enough to bring some players back. We’ll have to wait and see what happenes over the next few weeks.
**This is only for PC, consoles are completely seperate.**
-
@Speshul_Kitten that’s exactly what I said in the second paragraph. It’s not fair to those who truly are low ranks, and it is not at all fun to bully them. I think the devs need to STOP their bullying agenda on all counts. Bully survivors are not fun. Bully killers, are not fun. And by bully killers, I mean rank 1 killer vs rank 20 survivors, and nothing else.
-
@TreemanXD a bad perk that baby survivors use, because they don’t understand it, and because effect #1 can be useful against baby killers. Many baby survivors think that it reduces their wiggle timer, but it has no effect on wiggling at all. I think the devs called it a “fun” perk, and we all know what that means.
-
@TreemanXD Boil Over only has 2 effects. 1) Your wiggle effect is increased (which is the side-to-side movement), and 2) It doesn’t allow the killer to see the auras of hooks within 12 meters. #1, does virtually nothing, especially if the killer strifes (walks sideways). #2, again does nothing for a killer who knows how to play. He’ll know exactly where the nearby hook is before even picking up the survivor. If he doesn’t, it wastes at most 8 seconds of time walking away, and walking back, where you still have a minimum of 5 seconds left to hook the survivor.
-
On not_QUEEN’s live personal stream, she briefly stated that the devs think that we would rather be matched with anyone, anywhere in the world (and Saturn), and of any rank, over waiting for a match with a local killer (latency < 150ms) and closer to our ranks. This is exactly how the new matchmaking system works, and how it can ensure that you get a lobby within 4-5 minutes.
However, it doesn’t take into account that people will dodge the lobby once they see the latency is > 150ms. Nore does it care if a rank 20 killer is matched with nothing but red ranked survivors. I’m playing other games more and more, especially when this new system is live. It takes all the fun out of the game, and just wastes what little time I have to play.
-
So let’s get this straight. A 4K against some pretty bad survivors, who also happened to complete 4 gens, is proof that Freddy is fine? WOW! I say, wait until the new ranking system is out for a few weeks, and you try it again at rank 1. With the current system, you are still in the potato ranks. At least 2 of the survivors were running Boil Over, which is a baby survivor perk, that does absolutely nothing.
-
@not_QUEEN explained it such that the devs believe that we would rather be in lobbies with anyone, from anywhere in the world, over waiting to be matched with someone who is closer (i.e. < 150ms) to us, and closer in rank. Well, the devs are 100% wrong, as everyone I know will drop the lobby if the latency is > 150ms, which ends up meaning we wait even longer (~ 1 hour) before we get a playable lobby.
I’ll get 10+ lobbies with the killer being in Japan, Russia, Italy, France, or South Africa, at a 250ms to 550ms latency, before I get a single lobby in North America. That’s 10+ lobbies, that takes ~5 minutes to find, that we’re forced to dodge. If I have to wait 20 minutes to get a good latency lobby, I would seriously prefer that than this current crap that we are being moved to. And matching rank 1s with rank 20s is flat out wrong, yet BHVR believes we want it.
-
@Sharmarko the devs never said any such thing. What they have said many times is, it is very unlikely that they will ever add another licensed character, but not impossible. Licensing fees are very significant, and usually mean a net loss, or break even at best.
-
@KillermainBTWm8 I perused the rest of his post. What do you think about his claim that Freddy is the most OP killer in the game? He states that just before he starts crying about being Tombstoned.
-
@infamous90 I stopped reading the moment I read, “Playing survivor is more difficult than playing killer, this is a fact.” That is a complete joke. Absolutely everyone knows that survivors are OP, and playing them is cake walk in the park. It is only recently, that survivors have finally been brought down to level that puts the game in a better position. Your Trolling wall of text has failed.
DON’T FEED THE TROLLS!!!

@Deltin said:
I still think "Were gonna live forever" should have a 2nd buff like BBQ does, maybe it can work like "break down" how you can see the killer's aura for a little bit. it'd make sense.
That will definitely never happen. It already promotes extremely poor gameplay, and buffing it would only make it that much worse. This perk should truly be removed from the game.
-
Unnerving Presence and Distressing work well on a killer with a normal terror radius, when using a 3 or 4 gen strat. Kicking gens ensures that it will take longer to finish the gens, and forces survivors to make risky choices. You can easily patrol those last 3 or 4 gens. When I have a Trapper daily, it’s a nice way to bring the progression to a halt. Once you have at least 1 survivor dead, the others will drop like flies.

Hey All,
There is a way to enter a text description of the issue, but it requires 4 completely separate actions to complete (DO NOT EXIT THE GAME UNTIL STEP 4):
1) Press and hold the Share button to bring up the context menu, and then press square to save the gameplay recording. I have my PS4 setup to save up to 60 minutes of gameplay, and I think the default is 15 minutes. You can change this in settings.
2) Click the thumbs down like normal, and select the option that best fits the situation, and then go back to the Scoreboard.
3) Move the cursor up to the rate this match bar, and there is a box to the right that you need to click on to open a ticket. Fill out the ticket completely, and if you recorded the match, state that you have a recording. There is a bug on the web page that will continuously display a CAPTCHA test. Ignore it until you need to submit the ticket.
4) Close DbD and find the recording that you saved.
5) Trim the recording to just the match that you jusy played.
6) Upload the clip to YouTube as an unlisted video. If you make it public, you may be violating the EULA.
At this point you will need to wait a few days, and you will be contacted via email with a request for the video evidence. Just go to your YouTube account, get the link to the video, and put it in your reply. You will get 1 or 2 followup emails, if you’ve done everything correctly.
This is the only way to get lagg switchers banned, so make sure you follow the steps precisely.
HAVE FUN IN THE FOG!

I play on PS4, and Legion is just another mix in the bag. Some will DC the moment that they know it’s a Legion, some on their first down, and others when they know he’s running Frank’s Mix Tape. The later DCs appear to be more common than the former, but it’s a mix. Some days, no one will DC at all. Other days, all 3 will DC and I end up being alone, thus one of the reasons I rarely play solo anymore.
However, the DC rate that I have observed against Legion is only slightly higher than that of the other killers. The overall DC rate was skyrocketed over the past 5-6 months, from 1 maybe every 20 matches, to ~20+ during those same 20 matches. Many are definitely attributable to the Infinite Loading Screen, but the majority are rage quits. It did drop slightly once console bans were implemented, but the rate is now back up to what it was.
The YouTube videos talking about why people derank are a double edged sword. They let the devs know why people derank, but they also significantly increased the number of players who derank. I’m hoping that the new ranking system will significantly change things, as it will make it nearly impossible for players to rank up higher than their abilities allow. This will make it much more fun for those who truly belong at that the higher ranks, as they won’t have to worry about players who can’t pull their weight.

Don’t even. Just because you’ve had some bad experience doesn’t mean that you’re only going to have bad experience. The post is opinionated, you need to expect opinions. A narrow mind is okay, but you need to stop tearing each ones apart and respect one another; it’s a forum, for DISCUSSION.
Nice troll BTW, have fun under the bridge, while we have a discussion. I presented an opion with facts, while you didn’t present anything, or even contribute to the thread,

That ain't why there's not voice coms. Voice coms could never work in this game as a killer could hear you and not need perks like whispers, nurses or bbq to find your ass.
Nice troll! Anyone who isn’t brain dead would know that the killer would never be included in the comm.
-
Q: Why do so many people here think that the killer would be included in the voice comms?
I mean, HELLO! Are they included in the pre-game lobby chat? NO! There has never been any indication that BHVR is even considering any communication between the killer and survivors, in fact it’s always been the exact opposite. The communication would only be between survivors, which is how it is on console. The only game that was stupid enough to include the killer, was F13, and we all know where it ended up.

@kaelum with my stealth build as solo I'm able to save and heal my TMs quietly and quickly. Because I am aware of what my own youngsters shout at the game when it's not going there way does not make me a bad player because I do not want to communicate. Do survivors have walkie talkies in horror films? The option of mute would be pointless.. people will play more childish and unsportsmanlike because they'll assume you're listening to them. I read your post fine and it begun with a very narrow minded opinion.
The simple fact that you thought that my post was referring to you, is proof enough that it does. So it appears that you are the “narrow minded” person here.
-
@TreemanXD you obviously either didn’t fully read my post, or you have trouble understanding it. Which is it? I clearly wrote a response to your post, before you even wrote it.
-
@MegaWaffle said:
They changed it like 3 patches ago so all lobbies try to get 4 people before loading in. This was to make it harder to detect SWF so lobby dodging would slow down. It sadly seems to have backfired as loads of people clearly never read this change and lobby dodge even more.
That was never announced, and is not true. That is the final intent, but the code to fully do that has not been implemented. The next patch will bring us closer, but there is still at least 1 more patch beyond that, to get to this new system. They are still testing the matchmaking, which is currently worse than all of the previous systems, when it comes to balance.
ON TOPIC:
I have pretty much stopped playing solo survivor due to the ranking system. Once the new system is in place, I’ll give it a try. I refuse to play with others who are playing at a rank that is seriously out of their league.
-
There is one really good thing that everyone can learn about the voice comm responses here, those who hate them as survivor, are most definitely extremely bad players. Even if voice comms were added to the PC game (they already exist on console), there would not be anything that forces you to use them, so every one of those arguments is moot. Making it to rank 1 under the current system doesn’t mean #########. Anyone, can get to rank 1 under the current system. Including those who know absolutely nothing about the game.
Once the new ranking system goes into effect, you’ll have a better idea of exactly where you fit, and where you should have been all along. This is going to hurt some of your egos, but 90% of you are not as good as you think you are. I play everything, Killer, SWF, and solo survivor. Out of all these, solo survivor is by far the most unfun part of the game, due to lack of communication, and survivors who are definitely playing at a rank seriously beyond their abilities. I look forward to the changes, and you should be too.
-
On the PTB there is a new scaling ranking system, that should do a much better job at placing players into their proper ranks. The current system is a complete joke, as anyone who just plays the game for any amount of time will make it to rank 1 w/o even knowing how to play the game. Take a look at the PTB notes, and you’ll see exactly how much more difficult it is going to be to reach the higher ranks, and to stay in them.
P.S. There are some bugs in the emblems on the PTB right now, but it is showing that players are deranking from being in the wrong (higher) rank that they are currently in. Even the best players are struggling to stay in the red ranks.
-
@HeHeBoii party chat is built into consoles, and it only takes about 10 seconds to invite the entire lobby. So, it may not be all that commonplace on PC, but it certainly is on console, which has 10x as many players.
P.S. In all the games that I have played, there hasn’t been one toxic party chat. If you don’t get along with the people you are chatting with, you just leave the chat. But it has never been anything like the type written chat that I’ve seen in YouTube videos, or streams.

@makayla lower profile = harder to see

Incorrect. Each trap corresponds to one key in one box. If one of your friends freed themselves at killer shack, another in the corner of the map, and a third in the center, that means you only need to search the fourth box they didn't use successfully.
So, in other words, process of elimination.
That is not correct. Unless the devs have changed it, the key can be in any box, and all keys could even be in the same box. They said that they did this to prevent what you are describing.
-
@rooCraah that’s the point, to create a choke point. However, it would not keep the entire team permanently in the broken state like you suggest, as the killer would need to cleanse at least 1 fountain before the timer times out. 1 minute may, or may not, be too long, but it could be played with. 30 seconds would have to be the absolute minimum; otherwise, it would have no beneficial effect to the killer.
An alternative could be, when the killer collects the corruption from a fountain, it takes 60-90 seconds before that fountain is cleansed and becomes usable by survivors. Fountains is this pending state do not count as corrupted fountains, which means that the reset is not triggered.
-
@Tarvesh said:
Follow-Up Question:
Do Survivors cleansing themselves at a fountain count toward Nurse’s Calling? Meaning, ifni’m close enough, will I see their aura as they try to cleanse themselves of infection?
No, cleansing is not considered healing.

I mean.. you have a 25% chance of getting it off in one and a 50% chance of getting it off in two. I hate how her power just randomly ends immediately sometimes. And let's not even mention SWF, who can use this system to find the box by process of elimination.
You really have no idea how it works. “Process of elimination”, really? The only process of elimination is seeing what boxes are left. The key for every one of the traps could be in the exact same box, which makes any point that you were trying to make about SWF, moot.

Increase the Hag’s base teleport range from 40m to 48m, as the larger maps are a PITA. Red Forest, HOLY #########! Also, fix her lunge, as it is really screwy and short at times. That’s 1 buff, and 1 fix.
P.S. I’ll never understand why her camera is at her neck, when she is the lowest moving killer of them all.

Anything that buffs solo survivor buffs SWF survivor. If you can't see that then you have such an obvious bias that you cannot be helped or reasoned with.I am a killer main, and I support giving survivors a UI element for this, just like the devs support it. It does nothing to buff SWF, as they already have this information. The bias is obviously with you.
-
@Boss TydeTyme is only an average player at both killer, and survivor, if he even plays. What he is good at is getting numbers to present in a way that makes him seem somewhat intelligent. He does not mine these numbers himself, he gets them from others, and very seldom gives credit to those doing the work.
He is absolutely terrible at playing Hag, and playing against her. If you watch some of videos post Hag buff, you’ll understand why. Don’t trust YouTubers or Twitchers blindly, make them earn your trust. You’d be surprised at how many you trust, are actually just using your trust to make money, and do not provide accurate content.

TBH, there is nothing to solve. Camping is a legitmate strategy when used correctly. Survivors hate it, because they don’t know how to counter to it, especially at the lower ranks. As survivros learn to play better, they learn that there is even counter play to a LF camping the hook.
BHVR dissuades those who use camping in a way that isn’t fun, but they admit that it is required in some situations. If you don’t like camping, learn how counter it. FYI, when people say do gens, they truly mean do objectives, which includes cleansing totems. If you have a killer who is camping early game, there is an exteemely good chance that he’s running NOED.

New DS "nerf" is going to drop her a tier or two due to it completely making her "web" play obsolete until you eat the DS.Thankyou for making my day. I needed a good laugh. The DS change will not have any real effect on someone who plays Hag properly. If there is any effect at all, the 1 second reduction in stun will be in her favor, and knowing when it will happen is in any killer’s favor.
Downing the unhooker, and then downing the unsafely unhooked will move DS to a different point in time, but it doesn’t change anything. If I get DS’d, I can chase them 1 second sooner than I currently can, and thus down them sooner. However, in this cenario, DS should truly be disabled, as I am not tunneling. I downed another survivor first.

@MRose said:
Your problem is with SWF not killers. SWF can't be an excuse to overpower survivors.I am a killer main, and I side with the devs on this one, which is the complete opposite of your position. Solo players need to be brought up to the level of information that SWF have. This entire thread has already been discussed by the devs, and it is something that they plan to implement, once they have the time to do so. That being said, this information is not currently available to the killer in any way, and I don’t truly know if it should be. Making this information available to killers could have some serious down sides.

How is two weak players getting pushed to a higher rank match fair? Two or even one high rank survivor(s) can’t make up for that kind of skill difference. It is fair now using a mean medium mode when it’s working right to find a killer.
Sorry, but it is obvious that you never play Killer, so forgive me if I ignore your ignorance.
@HeroLives said:
So you’re saying those three low levels should go against a red rank killer instead and that would be fair? Instead of 1 high rank facing a killer somewhere in between the ranks? OKAY LULZYep, proof that your idea of fair play is one sided. The survivors have a choice of playing at a rank outside their ability, the killer doesn’t. Nice troll though, I’ll give you that. A troll is always a troll.
-
SWF groups should be matched as if everyone in the group was at the same rank as the player in the group who has the highest rank. However, BHVR doesn’t know how to make fair games, so we have the current BS system, which averages all the ranks.
-
UI counter for all survivors, yes. Tied to perk, no. Killer does not get a counter.
This is the equivalent of a 4-man SWF, and should be in the game.
-
Again, that specific question has been asked, and answered, several times in the dev streams, Why do you think that the killer is allowed to see what each survivor is bringing into that match?TheBean said:The question I would like to see clarified is... Ummmm....have you ever even watched a dev stream? They want both killers and survivors to dodge lobbies for whatever reason they want. It is encouraged! They won’t be banning anyone for dodging lobbies, but they do want to know why people dodge. They do however ban for DCing after the lobby counter has reached 0, and switched to the offerings pages.
@TheBean this goes for your comments as well.
