Howling Grounds 2.0.
When the killer kicks a generator it goes into an overload condition. 10 seconds later, it explodes, creating a massive concussive wave that drops all pallets within 20m, downs all survivors within 20m, and destroys all flashlights within 50m.
When a survivor crouches multiple times within 10m of the killer, the Entity grabs and teleports that survivor to the nearest hook, as a sacrifice. Nearby survivors have 10 seconds to get 50m away from the hook, or suffer a similaar fate.
To be continued... -
Only cooperative healing is currently registering
-
@Kind_Lemon hemorrhage was buffed when they significantly increased the visibility of blood trails. Add Bloodhound to that, and it is ridiculously easy to track a survivor. Why do you think so many killers are using Sloppy Butcher now? Previously, it was a crappy perk that only worked on Wraith. With all of the recent changes it is now a viable perk for all killers, and only less viable for Spirit. This is how it should be. Not all perks should be viable for all killers, but they also should not be so limited that they only work for a small few.
P.S. if I were to make any change, I would make Sloppy Butcher and Bloodhound a single perk. They really should be a single perk, but that’s for the devs to decide.
-
Both hemorrhage and mangled were both significantly buffed in recent updates. There is absolutely no need to buff either, any further. I play both survivor and killer fairly equally. As killer, blood is so bright now, there is no possible way that a survivor can lose me. As survivor, this would absolutely destroy solo players, and have no effect at all on SWF. This is counter to what BHVR is currently trying to do by bringing solo players up to the level of SWF groups.

What @Peanits said ^^^
Sony hands out bans that are significantly greater than BHVRs bans are, and BHVR can’t do anything about PSN violations. FYI, that threat is a guaranteed 30 day minimum, and possibly a permanent PSN ban, depending upon how Sony classifies the threat.
P.S. To report this, you need to keep the friend request, and go to their profile. Press Options on their profile, and you will see Report. In the description, make sure to state that they sent a message with a friend request that violates their rules, and you still have the friend request. Sony will delete the friend request when they take the appropriate action.

I main Hag, and my strat is similar to the others here, but I do do some things differently. I don’t run MYC, as it requires you to make stupid decisions. Instead, BBQ & Chili is much better, giving you double BP, and teaches you to not tunnel (at least for the first 3 gens). Playing Hag is like playing Chess, you need to out think your opponents. Don’t trap gens at the beginning, as survivors will expect it. Instead, trap pathways (like others have stated), strategic windows (the side where they will fast vault to), drops, and some pallets. The killer shack window on the outside, is a must.
The #1 rule that you don’t want to break is, never have more than 2 or 3 traps available at any time. Rule #2, pick an area that you can cover with your TP, that has at least 3 gens, and don’t leave it for any reason. If gens getting done breaks that, you need to adjust to a new area. Rule #3, don’t get into a chase until you have at least 5 traps down. This can make or break your match. Getting into a chase before you are ready, will almost always end in the survivors getting out. Rule #4, if there are only 2 gens left, and you don’t have enough map pressure, you need to start tunneling, but be smart about it. At 1 gen, camping is a must if you are not doing well. I tend to find that survivors overestimate themselves when they get to 2 gens left, I actually have significant map pressure, and they make really stupid mistakes.
Place traps while in chase, if it will prevent a loop. When trapping a pallet, you want the trap to be at least 2m away from the pallet. If you are in chase, they drop the pallet, and your trap pops, don’t immediately TP to it. Instead FREEZE, and wait a couple seconds. They may just vault the pallet right into you. If they don’t, then TP and smack their ass. Watch Space Coconut for some other ideas, but you need to come up with a style that works for you, and not rely on what works for someone else, even me.
I typically run Iron Grasp (some use Agitation), Monitor & Abuse, BBQ & Chili, and Hex: Ruin (to slow the game down). Monitor & Abuse is an absolute MUST for any killer with a reduced terror radius, as it drops the TR from 24m to 16m, when not in a chase. And it increases your TR to 32m when in a chase, which always throws off the survivors. One of your addons should always be Dried Cicada, or Dragonfly Wings. If you’ve done everything correctly, and you don’t have a toxic SWF group, the survivors should never get more than 3 gens done. When Hex: Ruin gets destroyed, don’t worry about it. It was only there to keep the survivors distracted, nothing more.
This should help you get started, but remember, you are you. Only you will know what works for you. Not some steamer, YouTuber, or even me. It is you that matters, so have fun experimenting, and don’t get discouraged if things don’t exactly work out in the beginning.
Have FUN!
-
@DwightsLifeMatters you still haven’t answered my questions. How does leaving a gen at 99% give you an advantage over the killer? If you allowed a killer to pull off a 3-gen strat against you, you deserve to lose. By completing the gen, you put pressure on the killer to make a mistake. Since you haven’t provided any valid reason for doing this, there is no reason at all for anyone to listen to your cries. Good day.
-
@DwightsLifeMatters I did read everything. There is nothing to be gained by leaving the gen at 99%, especially in the case you describe. You have taken yourself out of the match to do a gen that produces no gain. There would be at least 3 other gens that you could do, and I’m sure that one of them would be much more helpful to the team. If the killer is chasing anyone, do a gen right next to him, under his nose.
What is it that you think you are gaining by not completing the gen? Is it going to make the killer move away? No, because you have idiots running around an “important” generator. The same thing goes for hooks. If you want the killer to leave, YOU and your friends have to leave. Watching Keystone Cops is hilarious, but it will get everyone killed.
-
Unless you are in a SWF group with a plan, 99%’ing a gen is a waste of time. It does not help the game, it is actually wasting your time and helping the killer. Once the killer finds the gen, he will kick it, and all the time that you spent on it is wasted. As others have stated, work on the correct gens first (i.e. do one, skip one), especially the unsafe gen in the middle. The only slight exception is RBT, but again, that is situational. If you are solo, never 99% a gen unless you are given some kind of indication by your teammates, as it requires a team to pull off a 99% strategy.
-
It’s funny, 2 posts asking for the same thing. Anywho, I created the following idea in another thread, that should address your concerns, including those of @Peanits. You could buy any perks that you have unlocked, plus the common perks:
-
I just posted the following idea yesterday:
-
@Bravo0413 there is not only 1 piece of code. The code is broken up into multiple modules. As I stated in my previous post, there is no overlap. The modules that need to be changed for the dedicated servers, are NOT the modules that affect game performance (i.e. graphics, sounds, controls). The networking will completely change, and there is performance tuning in that, but again, it has nothing to do with the current performance updates.
-
@Bravo0413 game optimization, primarily graphics optimization, has absolutely nothing at all to do with dedicated servers. The code for each is isolated by an abstraction layer, so changes to either side don’t affect the other. If the interface between the 2 changes, then yes, there would be additional work, but those types of changes would be very small. The controller/keyboard, sound, and graphics, are a single unit, which is what was recently upgraded. The game engine, scripting engine, and communications, are separate units. It is the latter that requires changes to support dedicated servers.
-
As others have stated, there are pros and cons. Lagg, will get worse overall, as the data flows survivor-server-killer, and vice versa. When both the survivor and killer perform a conflicting action at the same time, who wins? The servers will need to make these decisions, as will the game clients (your console or PC). If you have played an MMO, that is the kind of performance that you can expect AT BEST!
If you lagg switch, you will lose, as your data will get to the server after that of your opponent. However, rubber-banding is going to be hell for those with a latency > 80ms to the server. Rubber-banding is fine in PvE, but in PvP it’s a complete mess. We’ll have to wait and see how BHVR implements this, but I’m extremely leery.
-
It’s because of how the devices work. Keyboards follow a fairly simple specification, that all keyboards support for key presses. Mice on the other hand, are all different. There is a very basic set of functionality that all current mice support, but beyond that, they all differ. Special mice are unlikely to have anything more than basic functionality. You can check the PlayStation Store, and manufacture web sites, for devices with specific support on the PS4.
-
FACTS:
PlayStation is a closed system. Any device that works on the PS4 via the USB connector, Bluetooth, or WiFi, is allowed, as Sony has specifically written drivers for it. Games are not allowed to state what is, or is not, allowed only Sony is. In order for any publisher to be allowed to sell any piece of software that runs on the PS4, they must abide by the rules set forth by Sony. Keyboards have been allowed since the PS4 was first released. Mice were added shortly thereafter. -
@splxc5 then it is most likely a connection issue, which BHVR can’t really do anything about at this time. The dedicated servers will eliminate this issue, as long as the issue is not between you and the server. Until then, you might just want to be a little more picky about your lobbies. Personally, I drop if it is 130ms or higher, or bounces above ~150ms. Above that you’ll be experiencing a song from Cher....”If I could turn back time...”
-
I have never seen a lag spike cause struggle to break. It can go funky, but if you keep pressing X as normal, it works fine. Are you sure that it is not your Internet connection that is the problem? Are you on WiFi? 90% of time when there is a lag issue, it is because the killer, survivor, or both, are using a WiFi connection as opposed to a wired connection. And 9% of the time, the connection for one of the above is being over taxed (i.e. huge downloads or streaming). The remaining 1% is intentional lagg switching by the killer.
-
@PinkEricka it is 100% clear that you are trolling at this point. You obviously don’t understand English, and try to use a partial literal definition from a dictionary to backup your claim with a software issue. @Orion provided the perfect example where survivors are exploiting the use of a flashlight bug that instantly blinds the killer, and was not intended.
DON’T FEED THE TROLLS!!!
-
@PinkEricka said:
@Kaelum Like I said, if you are using a bug purposefully to your full advantage then you’re exploiting it.Asking the killer to stop using it because MULTIPLE people are having problem is reason enough.
You are confusing words again. Exploiting the use of anything does NOT make it an exploit. This is just simple English. As for your excuse for killers to stop using it, I can’t help but laugh, and the devs will agree with me on this. Why? Simple, do survivors stop doing something that breaks the killer’s experience? Nice laugh though.
-
@PinkEricka said:
There’s an exploit where when Wraith puts on Sloppy Butcher, the blood will still continuously gush out of you after you’ve been fully healed, and your FPS will drop really low. (5 or 10 FPS)This is a bug, it is NOT AN EXPLOIT. Please learn the difference. If you think that a killer is going to stop using a perk that works best for them, you are seriously mistaken. FYI, the killer does not see the effect. It is only a graphics bug for survirors, and it is ludicrous to ask killers to stop using it because you are having problems.
-
Survivor lagg has zero effect on the killer, when the killer is the host. Thus, it is only an issue in KYF, when the killer is not the host. There are some bugs in the game that have gotten worse with the last update, where controls get stuck. I’ve only seen it on the survivor side, where crouch won’t exit, or it keeps going into crouch until the killer hits you. That issue might be lagg related, as it only happens when the killer has a bad connection. If you’re using WiFi, switch to a wired connection. The difference is like night and day. It is impossible for any WiFi system to maintain a stable gaming connection, due to the way that WiFi works.
-
There are the rules. Pretty much everything that anyone has said is an exploit, is specifically listed as normal gameplay. You can either learn the rules and understand them, or continue to wear blinders. Those who wear blinders will have unintended bad experiences due to their refusal to play the game as designed.
FYI, there is a difference between unintended, and unexpected. Unexpected, covers many game features that people are falsely labeling as exploits. If you have a problem with unexpected gameplay, then label it as such. Calling it an exploit will not get you anywhere.

To everyone who thought this was bait no this is not. Just me expressing my opinion. The hag is so much fun to play with but against a good team can have trouble.TBH, I am sincerely glad that said this, and used those EXACT words. ALL killers should have trouble against a good team, just not so much as to always be losing. The nurse is an exception that will one day be equalized to that of other killers.
The only thing that I would ever consider changing is the base speed of killers below 115% run speed, by increasing those speeds by 2% across the board, but only if that would not be too powerful in itself. If you know how to truly play Hag, you should be averaging ~3 kills per match. If you are below that, then you need to rethink your strategies.
-
The escape as [survivor] daily was fixed with 2.4.0. The cooperative daily is still bugged, and only moves forward as @CakeDuty describes above.
-
This thread has gotten way beyond ridiculous. Those who are for this, please tell me how this is any different than a pig moonwalk chasing a survivor with a trap on their head? This gameplay has been in the game for a year, and I don’t see anyone complaining about it.
-
Purple items are always a possibly in chests, and the current event the chance of getting them has increased. The same thing was done last year, so this is nothing new and is expected.
-
It’s called playing with your food, and the devs have already stated that it is not an exploit. In fact, it’s a waste of time. If the killer were to simply chase the survivor and hit them outside of Frenzy, they would go down much faster. But hey, if you want to complain about living a few seconds more, then go for it.
-
This would most likely fall under the unfairly targeting someone to ruin their experience.
Would this be a correct assessment @not_Queen , @Peanits , @MandyTalk ?
-
I agree with everyone that by default all personal stats should be private. There should also be aggregates that are public, daily, weekly, by season, and by event, which can be compared side-by-side with your personal stats. And this should be done for the exact reasons that @Jago opposes them. He gave a specific 80% number, w/o any proof to back it up.
-
The majority of people here are referring to the movies. IF BHVR were to create their own Krampus, it could not have anything in common with the killer in the movies. Would they go that? Possibly, but would they want to risk a law suit? I seriously doubt it. Just look where F13 is now.alivebydeadight saidI am sorry but krampus is german lore
P.S. For those not aware, the F13 movie remake is also under the jurisdiction of the law suit, even though it is a different story. -
@alivebydeadight the devs stated in a live stream, not too long ago, that it is highly unlikely that they will ever be adding another licensed killer. This doesn’t mean that they won’t, but I’m pretty sure that it isn’t cost effective for them. Plus the headaches that come with trying to balance/add cosmetics to such killers make it an even worse option. They also made some interesting statements about Jason Vorhees, but with the legal battles the continue, that may never happen.

... its kind of ridiculous... im just really tired of the bullcrap with tjis game all around, devs will lose me when this year is up. Much better less infuruating games to come, HOW DARE YOU PUT $99 WORTH OF Auric cells in the store when your game is really half ass and lacking real depth and balance. Chime inDon’t let the door hit you on the way out. The wiggle mechanic has one purpose, and one purpose only. That is to prevent the killer from putting you in the basement on every down. It has absolutely no other purpose. It is not supposed to be a get-out-of-jail free card. There is body blocking, sabotage, and Decisive Strike to give you better chances, but if you think that you are owed a chance to wiggle free from a nearby hook, you are sorely mistaken. We’ll be having a great time in DbD while you complain about whatever game you decide to move on to.
-
@PandaChris they specifically talked about it in a dev stream in the last few months. I don’t remember the exact one, but it might have been the one where they talk about the rules and what is bannable.
-
@PandaChris said:
But the developers didnt want voice communication in the game, which in 70% of games it is being used. This is not an accurate statement. They specifically stated that they didn’t want to force voice communication on those who do not want it, which is completely different from what you are saying. They have no issues at all with voice coms, as there is absolutely nothing that they can do about it. They also stated that it is an unfair advantage, and that they are trying figure out ways to change that. Will they succeed? No, it is impossible to equalize the game against this advantage. This is why killers are more powerful, but not stupidly so.
-
FYI, none of these counters will work with SWF. Why? Because on console, anyone can invite anyone into a party. This completely bypasses the SWF function by creating a party (SWF) while waiting in the killer’s lobby. On PC they can do the same thing by announcing coms in the lobby chat. There is no possible way to reliably detect if the survivors are communicating during a match.
-
Stakeout is fine as it is. Every perk needs a counter, and only the Wraith and Jump Scare Myers can truly counter it. I use Stakeout on all of my survivors, as It it extremely useful. FYI, on Huntress and Freddy it kicks in when you are in their lullaby radius. If you aren’t working on a gen while the killer is nearby and chasing someone else, then you are wasting the perk and hurting your teammates.
-
@Attackfrog in the dev stream from last Thursday, they stated that they are aware of the issues, and are rebalancing all of the audio channels. I wouldn’t expect it to be ready before the end of the year. They might include something in the upcoming emergency patch, but I wouldn’t expect too much.
-
I had a Freddy daily yesterday, and the new graphics made it so much easier. I’m playing on a PS4 Pro, and it is much easier to find survivors now. Are you playing on a standard PS4?
-
These type of altercations are a dime a dozen. If they break PSN rules they get reported, and banned, but I usually just block them, as you did. However, these are not the ones that I remember. The ones that I remember are the ones where the killer sends you a GG, or a well played. On the other side, it’s great to hear survirors appreciating the game that you gave them, even if you did 4k or 32k them. When a survivor plays a great game against me, I will sometimes take him/her to the hatch, drop them, and give a little spin.
Just yesterday, I picked up and dropped the last survivor 3 times to let him stand, and then took him to the hatch. Then later that same day I was the last survivor alive, with 1 other already on the hook, and I Kobe’d in front of the killer. He sent me a message that he respected the 4%, let me open the exit, and we chatted for a bit after that. Those are the interactions that I prefer to remember. GG

cheesing the chase timer countdown so it counts down while in a chase would be exploiting errors in design or exploiting a bug. when it is clearly stated that they intend the timer to pause when your in a chase. so exploiting this loop hole that allows you to chase some one and keep the timers counting down should be looked at.hence why i made the post on the forums to let them know that this was happening. so they could look into fixing the issue at hand.- Your term “cheesing” is not an exploit. A Wraith cloaking to lose chase is no different than The Legion turning around to lose chase. Both mechanics were purposely built into the game.
- Gen tapping is not an exploit, and is specifically called out in the rules, yet you state that it is in your prior post.
Either accept the rules, or don’t. If you don’t, this is nothing more than a troll post on your part.

@EqMonkVeeshan said:
no I just do not want to see killers cheesing the chase countdown timer. just as I hate seeing survivors gen tapping its a disgrace and both these instances should be fixed/penalized heavily when people are doing it.Here are the rules, that you don’t seem to understand. Again, as previously stated, this has happened to me several times where the killer just goes AFK. Just widening the stairs enough to prevent body blocking would solve both the BT and AFKing issues. And again,as has been stated several times, this thread is not about the killer going AFK, so that is not a valid argument. So, NO. The stairs are working exactly as designed, and has been stated in several dev streams.

I said before that my experiences won't match up with everyone else's, I understand that, but as someone who only plays survivor as a solo, it seems like most of my rounds end with everyone dead or I'm just barely making it out through the hatch. This is why the ranking system needs to be seriously adjusted to its more difficult level. It clearly separated players of differing play levels much better than the current system does. Please realize, that in the rank 12 through approximately rank 6 ranks, you will be matched with players who really aren’t playing at a level that matches their rank, the “potatos”. When someone is playing with others who seriously outplay them, it causes those who are at that level to suffer. This mean that you’ll more than likely die in those situations.
At rank 3, this is extremely apparent, as you can get stuck at that rank for quite a while. Once you get to rank 2, and definitely deserve to be there, you will find that surviving is much easier. So much easier, that getting to rank 1 only takes a few games.
@Avariku said:
and I don't mean I ONLY play survivor, I'm actually a killer main who just happens to be much more survivor-sided in my opinions.(mostly because I'm a killer main due to
how ridiculous almost all of my survivor matches go)I don’t know you, how long that you’ve played, or at what level that you truly play at. However, from what I’ve heard from you, I guess you were somewhere in the rank 10-7 range, but I could be totally wrong. I play both sides, and prefer killer much more, as I luv the strategy of playing killer. But, I do play survivor slightly more, just because of friends. Until you can consistently get to rank 1, you won’t really understand all of the dynamics of the game. No offense, no smear, just a little insight. There is a whole other world of playing, that may or may not be your cup of tea.
I have 2 groups of friends, the rank 1s, and the rank 15 to 7s. The rank 1s are very serious, and we have a blast. FYI, I don’t play with toxic survivors. The second group is more playful, and just as fun. Since I am competitive by nature, I prefer the rank 1 play more, but it doesn’t lessen the other play. Potatoes are potatoes though, and it doesn’t matter who they are. They will lessen everyone’s experience, and make the non-potatoes very unhappy.
-
WOW. All I can say is WOW!
This change would break the game beyond belief, as the OP obviously has no idea how the game changes from rank 20 through 1. Balancing out the happiness of both sides can be fixed by 3 minor changes that don’t change game play at all.
1. Increase the number of blood points that survivors earn for certain actions, and slightly increase penalties for poor actions (i.e. unsafe unhooks).
2. Return the emblem points to their more difficult to earn state, possibly making killers even more difficult than they were.
3. SWF groups get matched as a group with everyone being at the rank of the player with the highest rank in the group.
How does this fix things? Survivors are primarily unhappy due to the number of blood points that they are earning. Higher ranks may/may not care about blood points, but it’s a numbers game in the end.
The biggest problem is that the vast majority of players think that they better than they actually are, and are getting matched with players that are out of their league. That spike in survival at rank 3 is due to potatos being in a rank that they are clearly outmatched. Once you get to rank 2, progression is easy for those who clearly belong there. Once I hit rank 1, I rarely depip, and have no trouble at all staying there.
I know that many won’t like this, but it is the truth. I learned how to play better by playing with my friends, who used to be better than me. I never changed my overall play style, but I did tweak it, and learned how to play better. I’m not great, but I now play better than my friends and I get to rank 1 even though I can only play on weekends. Do I potato? Sometimes, but very rarely. Changing SWF to match in this way, will make for better players, and more balanced groups (perhaps playing with people more their level).
This is clearly a better approach than changing the game mechanics in a way that could be disatourous. -
I like the brighter maps, and yes, it is intended. not_QUEEN stated so on her personal Twitch stream.

There is a report system, and reports are being logged. Bans are the only thing that don't work. Once they're up and running, depending on the reports, people will be banned. The only thing you can do on PS4 is click on an icon. You can’t supply any text, or additional information (i.e. pictures or videos). TBH though, do you really think that they are going to go through over a years worth of reports? And that is only if Microsoft and Sony allow them to do so, which is extremely doubtful on the Sony side. The best that they can do is lock players from using the dedicates servers once put into place. Sony does not allow publishers to lock players out of a game that they payed for. Since KYF will not be on the servers, they can still play that, which is how they will get around the Sony issue.
-
@Dinaqma if you are on console, you can’t. There is no reporting mechanism, or banning, available to consoles, at this time.
