Yes, remove the names of all the people in the lobby. That way, survivors can not team up in voice chat with randos at the last moment.

Survivors themselves will later ask to get the change reverted.

Unless they joined as SWF, this should absolutely be true. Give the randos a name like “Player A”, but lock out all profiles, especially on the scoreboard, until the match has completely ended.

You can see the killer's gamertag just by holding down the ps button go to where is says dbd you'll see currently playing with and if the killer or you aren't offline you'll be able to see it

If anyone is playing in offline mode, including the killer, they will not show on this list. Sony did this the stop the harassment that was going on fromplayers abusing it. Also, all games are required to use the block list, so if you don’t want to play with someone, just block them. It can take up to an hour for some games to get your updated list.

  • I am not going to respond to those who do nothing but restate the same incorrect/inaccurate information over, and over, and over, and over again. Here is a link to the core rules:

    Game rules and report system

As not_QUEEN has stated many times, these are ONLY the core rules. There are additional rules and considerations that are based on these rules. It is not feasible to code rules into the game for many of these situations if it does not significantly address the issue. A half-assed fix is just that, half-assed.

Why might you ask? Because players love to bend the rules. If you code something to address an issue, then players expect it to address the issue fully. If they can still do something in the game that it doesn't address, then it is the developer's fault and they're going to do it anyway. And since they know that they can't address it with code, they know that there is very little chance of getting caught. Those with blinders on disregard these issues, which would end up making the situation much worse.

I think the devs are doing exactly what they need to, and not addressing this fringe case is the right call. A few here disagree with that, and that is their right. However, this is BHVR's game and they will do what is in their best interest.

  • @Avariku said:
I'm glad I'm not the only one trying to figure out how to explain this any clearer for him... but since you know what I'm saying, @Kaelum, how would that resolve the issue unless the survivor already knew to just push themselves against the killer in order to trigger the code and get passed them?

If BHVR deems this worthy of something to do, they could detect when the killer is in the blockable stairway area, there are no survivors above the killer, and there are survivors in the area below that. It would be a resource intensive test, but it could be done. The coding for this would be nowhere as simple as the OP thinks, which brings up the cost vs rewards argument. Will the cost justify the rewards? As a software engineer of over 40 years, I seriously doubt it. This is why sales engineers and CSRs are not project managers.

However, I seriously doubt that they will do anything until they rework the end game, and have completed the dedicated server changes as well. The reason being, it will be easier to perform this detection server-side, and could possibly over tax the resources of the current host.

TBH, this is an end game issue. It is not solely a “take the game hostage” issue, though that is the end effect.

  • @Visionmaker said:
Yeah, the survivor can touch the killer too. Bodyblocking means that they're touching at some point.

From this post, and your previous jibberish post, you really don’t know much of anything about game design. There is only touching when trying to get past the killer; otherwise, there is most likely no contact at all. I’m still trying to figure out what you were smoking in the previous post, as it makes no sense what-so-ever.

  • If you ever figure it out, let me know. I finally got my first 32k a couple weeks ago. The only thing different was that it was a very long match, like 18 minutes. They only got 3 gens done, but I was TPing all over the place smacking and grabbing them, as they popped my traps. The only bad thing that REALLY pissed me off, was that I only took screen shots. I forgot to save the gameplay recording. 😩😩😩

  • @AlwaysInAGoodShape what is untrue? Everything that I stated is fact, most of which was stated by not_QUEEN. This will not stop the reports in any way what-so-ever. The last time not_QUEEN stated the rules in a live dev stream, she also stated that every time they state the rules, it has no discernable impact on reports. The bad reports still come in. You seem to be making a HUGE number of assumptions that flat out are not correct.

The fact that this solution only possibly addresses an extremely small portion of the “take the game hostage” issues, and the huge possibility of a negative back lash, would make this a poor solution on its own. I don’t see BHVR doing this w/o addressing the the issue as a whole. Anything short of that would be shooting themselves in the foot, and asking for more.

  • @AlwaysInAGoodShape said:
By bringing out the statement: Bodyblocking/keeping hostage (again in the killers case, because we haven't touched the survivor case here) is NEVER bannable, we'd be able to get close to nullifying these incoming reports or automatically reject them if in that selected category.

Ok, now I see where the misunderstanding is. You appear to think that these reports are causing a significant amount of time to be wasted by community support. These reports are simply ignored, and people will report this blocking even if your solution is implemented, so it would not accomplish its goal. The only time wasted would be reading the first few words of the report, nothing more.

P.S. You do understand that less than 1% of the people who play the game, actually know and understand all of the rules, right?

  • @AlwaysInAGoodShape said:
I don't understand why my post is so misunderstood. I disclaimed most of what you commented about in the original post.

It is not misunderstood, it is the fact that you are only addressing an extremely small fraction of taking game hostage issue, for a survivor POV only. I don’t remember the numbers, but it’s somewhere in the high 90s, where survivors are ones who take the game hostage by various means. This idea of yours does absolutely nothing in those cases, and would be seen as siding with survivors and further nerfing ALL killers. It would serve very little purpose on its own. I would never condone a killer doing this, but as I said earlier, I have never seen it happen. Understanding that it only comes into play when all remaining survivors are being body blocked.

  • @AlwaysInAGoodShape said:
I already made clear what is meant by the terms.
This is about the killer holding the game hostage through bodyblocking (forcing a disconnect), which Not_Queen has responded to is bannable.

    No troll post here.

I have never seen any killer do this, and it would be the taking of the game hostage, not the body blocking, that is bannable. Definitely a troll post.

P.S. the timer for taking the game hostage, in this case, does not start until every other survivor is dead. Until then, it is fair game play per not_QUEEN.

  • @AlwaysInAGoodShape I’m not sure what game you are playing, but it certainly isn’t DbD. Body blocking is not bannable, unless it is being used to take the game hostage, thus taking the game hostage is bannable. However, this is NOT the type of game hostage that everyone is talking about. Survivors remaining in the game AFTER the exit gates are open, is what pretty much everyone is talking about. Nice troll post though.

  • This will probably be one of those times where the release is not 2 -3 weeks after the PTB, and there will be at lease 1 more PTB. Side of effects from some of the changes have completely broken the game, so they either need to go back to the drawing board, or completely remove them. I can guarantee you with 99.99999% certainty that the deep wound mechanic will be changed in a major way. Right now, it gives BT a 100% garauntee of freedom due to the timer stopping while in a chase. They need to return BT to its current live values, and not stop or slow the timer, unless the survivor is healing or being healed. Self mend needs to be removed as well.

  • I think what everyone has truly missed is that TydeTyme’s supposed Tier List, is not a Tier List at all. It is in fact a list of how well he is able to play those killers, and nothing more. He absolutely sucks at playing Hag, as he has no idea of how to play a strategic game with her. He comes off very pompous, because he is. He uses that pompous attitude, along with facts discovered by others, to elevate himself and to belittle others.

TydeTyme is good for nothing more than facts about the game that were discovered by others. I wouldn’t put any trust into anything else that he manufactures. He hasn’t been able to prove any of his own thoughts, and has a temper tantrum every time he is proved wrong. Play the killer(s) that you play best, and don’t let people like TydeTyme dissuade you. The best killers are those that YOU play well, not those on some stupid Tier List. ENJOY!

  • And here's an end game slug clip (60 seconds) with TydeTyme. Sorry for the crappy quality, but it's due to Twitch Clips:

  • Here's a link to TydeTyme dying to a Hag with 4 gens left, while at the same time trash talking No0b3:

  • @Mister_xD have you ever tried talking with TydeTyme? I used to think he was an AWESOME killer, but when I started to notice all of his inaccurate statements, that respect was lost. Now that he rarely plays DbD at all, I can't see how he thinks that he would be any authority on the game.

  • This is the official photo posted by BHVR. However, everyone seems to have missed the drawing on the shed (far right) where there is a 600, and a face of something like a Yeti or a Wendigo.

    ENJOY

  • FYI, servers may not make for a better experience. The only given that servers will accomplish is that people who DC, especially the killer, will be punished appropriately, and everyone else will get their blood points. When done half-assed, you get a game like F13, which just added servers to consoles, and the game is basically un playable now. Be careful what you wish for.

  • @Mediva said:
3 hooks in the basement and you werent camping? Its afcat you had 3 people hung there in the safest play with the hook, yet cant handle one survivor getting in the basement to unhook one. And with 3 people there hooked, you were probably right there too. So how come he could even make a save?

You have obviously never played Killer. If I see someone lurking around after I hook someone, I’m going after them. If you think that I should be running away due to some warped code-of-conduct that you have, you are sorely mistaken. If you want to save someone off a hook, don’t be an potato and let the killer see you. That’s just common sense, which you appear to be lacking.

  • Why is this still being discussed? The devs have already stated that they are not going to do anything with the hatch until AFTER they have reworked the end game. And at that point, there may not even be a hatch. This is a useless thread, as we have no idea what the future holds.

  • To the OP, the hatch is not currently on any list. The devs have specifically stated that they are not happy with the end game and are considering ways to change it. Once they are done, there may not even be a hatch. One thing is garaunteed though, no matter what changes are made, there will be a very vocal group that absolutely hates whatever changes are made.

  • @Peanits the devs have already stated that they are going to hide the perks and addons. The page would be available, but the killer’s setup would be hidden until the game ends.

  • @Entità said:
It's not necessary that other survivors, who have not used SWF mode, are subject to this restriction.

Haven’t you ever received a party invite from a SWF group while in the lobby? I sure have. The devs have already stated that they are going to hide the perks and addons until the game ends, but they haven’t implemented it yet.

  • @Maxi605 not really. It is going to make it much more difficult for those who are just barely able to rank up, which is part of the intended effect.
  • @Carpemortum said:
Technically, it has. All ranks have exposed instead of rank 3. So I mean, its a buff.. .

That statement is inaccurate. Tier 3 NOED has not been changed in any way. Tiers 1 & 2 had the exposed effect added, while reducing their haste increase.

  • @thesuicidefox said:
You forget that survivors are forced to save the guy on the hook or lose Benevolence. If you ignore that first guy on the hook and just rush gens you can't pip unless you do 3 gens by yourself and escape unbroken, and even then you still need to have a chase for at least bronze Chaser.

I'm sorry, but that is 100% false. It is not only easy to pip in that situation, but you can also double pip, as I have done several times. For the double pip, you need to do those things, but you don't even need the exit gates to be open to double pip. It sucks that one person is going to depip due to the camper, boo hoo. Every other survivor should be able to get out Scott-Free, if they don't play like idiots (a.k.a. Keystone Cops).

  • @Rebel_Raven the devs are currently working on different ways to change the end game. One popular idea is that 60 seconds after the game is over (i.e. at least 1 exit gate open, and no one on a hook), all survivors will be hit by a massive negative haste nerf on the order of 90%. This means that they would then be doing everything at 10% normal speed, including running and vaulting, and would remain in that state until they either die, or get out.

  • Due to this abuse, which is very rampant in many different forms, all SWF groups should be matched based on the survivor with the highest rank. If a low ranked survivor is playing with a higher ranked friend, they may not have as nice an experience, but that's what real friends are for. The higher ranked friend should be helping the lower ranked player to play better, and in the end, this will create better players overall.

When I started playing the game a little over a year ago, my friends were much higher in rank, and I was constantly playing with rank 10 or higher killers, even though I was only in the 20-18 range. In some ways it sucked, but at the same time, and with the help of my friends, I was able to learn a play style that works for me, and continues to work for me at rank 1. Averaging the ranks of SWF groups is just flat out bad overall, and needs to be changed.

On a side note, as the OP states, there is nothing preventing players from creating alts, which means that the accounts that they aren't playing on will have significant rank decay over time. The rank decay system also needs to be modified, such that a rank reset never decays a player more than 5 ranks. It should take 2 years of not playing to get the to lowest rank, 20. Having ranks 25-21 would be great for beginners, where rank resets can never decay below 20.

  • @Sythalin said:
Then they shouldn't be playing public games. We're talking escaping 1 out of 3 games or failing to get 2 kills per game every 3 games. Statistics posted by the devs themselves considers these to be"average" and quite honestly not that hard to accomplish for either role.

This elitist attitude will get you nowhere, and just means that this game isn’t for you. There are plenty of other games out there, but I doubt that you’ll find many games (if any at all) that employ this tactic. It is a historical fact that games that solely cater to elitists, don’t exist very long.

  • @DarkWo1f997 said:
Deaf and hard of hearing are two completely different things...

There are many levels of deafness, and only an extremely small percentage of the deaf are profoundly deaf (have no hearing at all). Some just have a severe DB loss, which can be helped with hearing aids and other devices that increase the volume level. However, the majority don’t have a normal hearing curve, and may only be able to hear in certain frequency bands. They may not be able to hear things like grunts, screams, footsteps, etc.

I would support a visual indication of sound when in a deaf mode, where the game sound is muted. They will still be at a severe disadvantage, but there is no fair way that a deaf person can play this game w/o some visual aid. This game relies way too much on sound, and the devs are even trying to deafen hearing people by raising the chase music to insane volume levels.

  • @blue4zion I think that it covers many of the points that the devs have been wanting to cover. The end game, scalability with ranks, and it would give ranks more of a meaning. The perks that gain power based on totems that are still up, might need to be slightly adjusted, but maybe not. In the SWF groups that I play with, we already cleanse all the totems, so increasing the number of totems based on rank should scale well.

  • The devs have always been talking about adding a task that survivors would need to perform, but most teams always do all the totems anyway, and count then out as you find them. If they made NOED built-in to the end game, and increased the totem count to 7, or 9, that would definitely slow down the game. Also, the number of totems could be based on the rank of the killer. The higher the rank, the more totems there are. I like this idea as both a killer, and a survivor.

  • @powerbats said:
Yeah it's a rare bug not the visual one but an actual bug where you depip by 1 and it's only happening at rank 1 and it's with different killers but it does seem to only be P3 too.

It doesn’t only occur at rank 1, it occurs at all ranks 15 to 1. It tends to happen more often when the disconnect is early in the game, where you’ve earned less than 5,000 BP, and it doesn’t award the disconnect bonus either.

  • @DarkWo1f997 ethical?  The devs stated that there is nothing wrong with doing 360s, end of story. I have no idea how a 360 could be declared ethical though. That’s a new one on me.
  • Gen tapping is only used by noobs. A seasoned player knows how to work around Hex: Ruin. First off, solo the gen. 2+ on a gen means more skill checks, and greater chance of failure. If you miss the Great Skill Check, let go of the gen until the sparking stops (approx 5 seconds). You will not get any progress during that time, but you can get additional skill checks, making it worse.
  • FYI, watch the dev stream that was released this morning. They specifically address 360s, stating that they were never intendent, but they are definitely not an exploit, and they are impressed with those who can pull them off. Why?  Because 360s can very easily be countered by the killer.
  • Bug_Reporter said:
...devs stated at streams that if u dont wanna play just die on the hook, u shouldnt DC, but suiciding on a hook is not an offese at all, its part of the game.
This is something that the devs need to clarify, as they have made statements in both directions. The latest statements from the CMs in these forums is that it is abuse, and they are not sure how to track it at this time. Though video evidence would suffice.

Also at the game page u can clearely see that working together or helping anyone AT ALL is a matter of CHOICE, u can play by youself, throw survivors in front of the killer, u can do anything in order to survive a little longer, as long as that doesnt include glitchs and bug abuses.

This is not accurate. The willful act of hurting someone else’s gameplay for the purpose of causing them harm, is excluded, and is bannable.  But go ahead and do it. When you get banned, you can’t say that you weren't informed.
  • @Vortexas yeah, I wasn’t sure what you were going for at first, so I updated my response. ;)

  • @Vortexas correction, 12 hooks, unless you are talking about a 0 kill scenario.

  • @Bug_Reporter BHVR has said that doing this in the way that you are doing it, and for the reasons that you have given, is a violation of the EULA. However, they also said that is is almost impossible to prove, so they can’t do anything about it. You are harming the other survivors by removing yourself from the intended gameplay, making their gameplay suffer, which is the violation that they are referring to.

  • @2BadWaluigiTime I really don’t know what you’re asking, but there is no incoming patch to fix camping, as there isn’t anything to fix. The last patch did a little to dissuade camping, but the devs are still standing firm that camping is a viable strategy. If there are only 2 gens left, killers start to switch over to defend mode. Any killer that doesn’t, is just a fool. Also, killing only 1 survivor does not mean that you will lose a pip, or only safety pip. You can very easily get a pip with only 1 kill. Hell, I have even managed to get a pip with no kills, but it was a very long match. You just can’t get 2 pips.

  • @ThirdSealOPplzNerf if you are receiving messages that violate PSN’s TOS, report them. As for bans in the game, this may never happen. I know that BHVR has said that they are working with the console manufacturers, but the bottom line comes down to there not being any single player game. The entire game is online and PvP based, w/o any option to play offline. Console manufacturers rarely allow permanent bans on this type of game, because many people paid real money for the game. Free-to-play with cosmetic only purchases, yes. Paid game with no offline options, no. The only known exceptions to this rule is anything that breaks the law, encourages the breaking of laws, and/or mentally or physically harms anyone.

ok so in order for me to purchase the teachable perk without the entity consuming it i had to first purchase the black splinter because the other way around was too long and the entity would of eaten the perk

You do know that the teachable perks will continue to show on every bloodweb until you purchase them, correct? Just skip it and buy it on the next one, which would not have the splinter...lol

  • As an absolute minimum you need 2Mb up/down dedicated to the game and nothing else. If anyone else is using the connection as well, especially for streaming, it will affect your gameplay. BTW, just because another game appears to work, does not mean this game will. Every game has different specs.

  • This means you have an extremely bad Internet connection. It is so bad that not even one of the survivors is able to connect to you. You should not be playing Killer until you fix your connection, and really shouldn’t be playing at all, until it is fixed.

  • The FPS has dropped to less than 1/2 of what it was prior to the patch, both as killer and survivor. Plus, the telemetry is really screwed up as well. It’s possible to work-around, but just barely, and it never ends well.
