  • I don't straight out stop trying but I stop taking the game seriously under these conditions:

Survivor: We all spawn together. Those games are never good. Leatherface, Hag, Huntress, Hillbilly, Doctor, Spirit make me try a little bit less. You have to be alert and think ahead but I just have never been able to be bothered with it. I see the basement tile. I know what will happen if Hag or Leatherface downs me there. We're gonna loop the shack I don't care.

Killer: If the survivors start going down too fast or two survivors are dead. I'll start messing around. I don't like ending the game too quick. I'm the type to spare locker Dwights. I like fighting the strongest survivors and if I can't find one well...zzz.

On the flip side if I finish my first chase and three gens pop I've decided I've already lost and I'll start playing around.

  • My game just disconnected me mid trial and couldn't connect to the servers despite being perfectly normal seconds prior. It might not just be a you issue.

I restarted my computer so ideally things will be back to normal. Steam does maintenance on Tuesdays normally and this wouldn't be a first.

Edit: Next match was fine. Guess the DbD hamster fell off the wheel for a second.

  • I always end up facing Freddy when I'm sleepy, and I'm a lucid dreamer.

It puts the nightmare on a whole other level.

  • Spirit because I can't hear very well in real life. I can play her and 4k but I have to go off things like my intuition and experience on knowing where the survivor will be. I can't hear breathing and footsteps and all that jazz.

If you make a bush move though I'm going to get ya.

  • It's a charm that represents Nyancat.

  • If you're playing for rank then yes, pipping is the determining factor between winning or losing.

    HOWEVER

Tombstone Myers always safety pips at best even if you 4k. If Rank doesn't matter to you then it's just up to your experience with that trial. Was it satisfying? Did you enjoy giving that last survivor the hatch? Then...who cares. You win.

If you're survivor and you spent all game crouching in the corner and ran out the exit gate as soon as your team carried you, did you really win? Wasn't that boring? Yeah you didn't die but...I feel like you lost. You know?

  • Bite the bullet should give you actual bullets to chew on. How intimidated would you be as a killer if you ran into bill and he just has like, three bullets in his mouth and he's staring down at you while chewing?

Really though I like to think Bite the Bullet is Borrowed Time but for Iron will. You're basically taking your whiny teammate and while "healing" them you're putting your hand over their mouth and telling them to zip it.

  • I'd say Killer gameplay is really easy at the start til about maybe Rank 10, then you start consistently facing experienced survivors that are trying to win, especially if you have prior game knowledge.

Really the thing with killers is that you need builds for certain killers to excel, and if you don't have those teachables you're always running a little lower than you could be. (That could be circumvented with the Shrine of Secrets but yeah).

  • I've got two I'm enjoying a lot.

    Wake Up/Dead Hard/Technician/Self Care and

    Calm Spirit/Stake Out/Prove Thyself/Self Care.

I self care responsibility and usually have someone else be my designated healer, don't worry. I'm not an addict.

  • As someone who has all the characters, I only play each character for a small fraction of the time I'm online and in game. Buying a skin is an investment. You're gonna wanna use it if you buy it.

If you fall in love with one character I could see justifying it. I DID buy Susie when Legion came out but I just bought the body and mask. She's my favorite of the four so I'm alright with it.

  • I just don't find the Wraith engaging. Even when you could see his shimmer from a mile away I still didn't care. You work on your gen until he rings his bell, he zooms after you and gets a free hit no matter what, then you loop him like a normal killer.

That's it. That's the game. It's not BAD but...that's the game.

  • Dwight. He's been with me since the beginning.

It's kinda funny he has all the perks but I rarely take him into matches anymore unless I'm playing seriously. Part of me likes to pretend he's the manager of the survivors and now has an Entity corp desk job where he assigns my other survivors daily rituals.

  • I thought everyone got it automatically and didn't realize I had to claim it in the store. I'm glad I didn't miss it!

Look. I get everyone has their idea on what the rainbow charm is for, but the truth is. Nyancat. It always has been.

  • Mine was Sprint Burst, and I mean the old Sprint Burst. Once the timer was up you could sprint again mid chase.

How did killers ever catch us?

  • I was thinking how cool it would be if there was like a 5% chance that any zombie that spawns could be one of the original survivors instead of a Resident Evil zombie.

  • I agree, please buff Soul Guard. I'm not really concerned with how they do it but let's see it happen!

  • Yes. Distortion, Any Means Necessary, Flash Bomb and Unbreakable are the new meta.

    So sayeth I.

  • You feel silly when the pebble doesn't really work out for you...

    ...but when it does...

  • I'd go a step further and make animations available in the shop for iri shards. Just toss a bunch of animations on the shop and see what's popular and what isn't. New mori for Trapper? On the shop. Silly run cycle for Dwight? On the shop.

That would open up some things.

  • That's the killer and survivor dynamic in a nutshell. It just bleeds into real life sometimes.

  • Survivors are interesting critters. Skittering across the map and recovering fairly easily from being hit by a chainsaw.

Male or female, they can run for an indefinite amount of time and can close deep wounds by rubbing their hands over one another.

I shudder to imagine what cruelty lays behind their visage.

  • Sabo squads with hooks that don't regenerate. Killer is usually Hillbilly with Nurse sprinkled in. Healing is much stronger. Claudette will always play the darkest moonlight offering and you will not see her even if she's out in the open. Killer could Mori you on first down.

Honestly I kind of miss it. Now the game is a lot more sporty but the original game was what drew me in. Didn't have the foresight to do a Legacy outfit grind though.

  • Mmmyes I'm running a healing build today. I'll just de-select plague and killers with one hit down abilities.

    Mwehehe~

  • Hitting the team's strongest survivor with The Shape's tombstone piece near the start of the match and enjoying the panic of players that aren't experienced enough with Myers to know what to do.

  • When I'm on my main doing aggressive plays I'll usually Run Self Care/Botany/Soul Guard/Desperate Measures.

They've nerfed healing a lot over time for a reason.

  • I'm expecting a reversal of the new survivor 2nd phase hook struggle mechanic to space bar mashing but for it not to appear in the patch notes so every survivor dies instantly on second hook for at least one game.

I also want Resident Evil tank controls for survivor. Run forward. Turn. Continue around loop. Stop. Turn. etc.

    Come on it'll be fun!

  • Did you know that even if you drop every pallet on the map early, as long as you don't go down that you've given your team enough time to finish all the generators?

The only time a pallet is really wasted is if you take a hit and drop the pallet at the same time. Even if you end up using all the pallets on the map your team still has window tiles and if they don't have all the generators done by then, they weren't going to do the generators anyway.

It comes with experience. I've seen chases and been like wow I wish that person would have lasted at least a minute. Don't be too hard on yourself.

  • I'm hoping to get that classic Resident Evil Tank control setup. Imagine how much more fun pallet looping will be if you have to stop, turn, then run again.

    I can't wait!

  • I'm not a fan of unbreakable.

I am however a fan of Soul Guard and healing builds. Every time your NOED totem lights up I rise from my grave. Every time Ruin is played, I rise again.

Dwight is eternal. Dwight is forever. Nothing can stop me from getting into a locker. (Or healing up the other slugs.)

  • Sounds like people are sick of the Plague.

  • Healing has been nerfed a lot but if I have a medkit I'll heal at pallets the killer has to break for an extra health state, but I usually run healing builds. I mean nothing by it except that I want to spend more time with you. There's so much of the map we can go explore together!

  • I have never once in my 4 (has it really been that long?) years have spared a survivor for pointing at me. I do however tend to be more sympathetic to survivors who crouch and look up at me, especially when we're down to 2 survivors or one left. I'll also have a moderately/considerably better chance of giving a survivor the hatch if they don't wiggle.

If I'm not doing an adept and you're the last survivor and you run out and kneel (crouch) before me, you get the hatch. You will also face thousands of other killers and get no results doing that, but for me that's my mercy.

As far as plays go, I tend to chase the stronger players on purpose and let the weak links get away just because it spices my game up and keeps me on my toes. The strong must die so the weak can crawl out of the exit gate to tell the tale.

I did have a Feng in that situation though on Deathslinger's map when I was playing my trickster. I got decisive striked at the end and I was alright with it.

  • I'd allow Legion to rapid fire spam his knife while in Frenzy like he did at release, but each time he does that he gets a speed boost and white lines on the outside of his vision to obscure the field of view and have difficulty turning. Player must manually cancel out of the ability for it to end.

Successful hit on a survivor causes deep wounds and activates killer instinct as per usual.

So in THEORY Legion could make a mad dash across the map by slashing a lot but would be about as difficult to avoid as a Hillbilly chainsaw with far less lethality.

  • I know that feel champ. I can't even participate in the gnome event because I always 4k.

Pff just kidding I'm too chill.

  • Grats!

    Woo woo wooo!

  • Personally I think it's toxic if you don't kill me with a Mori. If I'm gonna go down, make it stylish!

    A little pizzazz, you know?

  • I have a strong distaste for Hag and Huntress. Those are the only two that really upsetti my spaghetti.

  • I find them very charming, but yeah outside of the customization screen it's hard to notice them unless it's one of the Ultra Rare Tome charms that shine a bit. I can see them when I'm down on the ground and searching for my glasses.

Thanks! By the way, I forgot to add that I'm kinda short on some perks, so my current build with perks I have will be Ruin, Undying, BBQ, Surge.

Anytime. Pretty much anything will work on Trapper because he's a 115% speed killer and even if you don't trap anyone the entire game just solid loop play can still bring down a team. You can catch a lot of people off guard with him and you never know what he's running. Is this Trapper a newbie? Is he 1k hours+? Everyone has a Trapper. You never know.

  • It's good to see you back in Shape friend. Takes some effort to maintain that I know.

  • Trapper's my go to when I just want square games.

Bring a Trapper bag. Always. You want to be able to pick up multiple traps. Think of what you would do as a survivor and where you wouldn't want a trap to be. Put a trap there. Sometimes grass isn't always the best spot. If you can choke an area or deny one, go ahead and drop a trap. So what if it gets disarmed.

That said, put down only one trap tops before you start your patrol. It doesn't matter how well your traps are placed if they finish the generators in peace.

My Trapper uses Corrupt Intervention, Ruin, and usually two meme perks. Lately it has been Haunted Grounds and Blood Warden for those final 'traps'.

You can usually do well, but the less gen defense you have the more aggressive you need to be.

  • I'm gonna toss in another one for Hillbilly. When I hear the chainsaw I know this game might make me sweat, and not in the try hard way.

  • I play both but have been a killer main lately because the queues are shorter most of the time.

It's not a perfect or always easy to accomplish solution, but here's how I stop survivors from breathing.

  • I self care on a hill with other healing perks so everyone can see me while I assert my dominance.

I don't even run Balanced Landing when they get cheeky and dare pursue me.

  • Most people refer to such things as bikinis my friend.

  • I just toss them everywhere because no survivor can resist sealing a portal.

Complete generator or seal portal? I mean...the Demogorgon might come through it, maybe...and the portal's glowing so...I mean...

  • I prefer hooks. I just like to chase people around and mess with them and unless I'm going for an adept it doesn't matter to me whether you escape or not. I got the achievements a long time ago.

I do tend to "overlook" easy kills if people are being teammates (ie, I chase the obvious bait to give the weaker link a breather) but if you don't do the gens then up ya go.

  • Mine didn't cooperate with me. They mainly got infected by unhooking someone and having it tick down on their own. I just helped out where I could.

I don't think they were as happy about it as I was though.
