  • 100% survivor based

And @Edilibs, here you witness a typical "canttakeitanymore" killer attitude.
Friendlykillermain: yes, it leans towards survivors, but not that much. You gotta understand, BHVR is running a business, I don't they can go any further helping killers than with last patch. And it's ok. Play survivor when you want to relax, and play killer when you want a challenge.

Or play Nurse whenever you just hate everyone and wanna destroy all of them goddamn evil little trolls :)
  • The annoying thing about it is that it's purely luck based. It can turn your bronze Gatekeeper emblem into an Iridescent, but it can also be a wasted perk slot if it gets cleansed immediately. Even so, considering how fast paced high rank games can be, I sometimes find if it gives me 30 seconds without significant gen progress, it was worth it.
  • Everybody please shut up. I want the new killer to be a surprise!
  • @Edilibs You summarized it quite correctly. Like others pointed out, it's better than ever (balancewise), even though it's still a tiny bit more survivor friendly. It has to be: the great challenge and conundrum the devs have to face is how to get almost four times as many people to play survivor as killer. They have limited options, so making survivors easier is one of the few ways to achieve this. (The other attraction is SWF, which is also necessary, regardless how much some killers hate this feature.)

That said, if you have a calm personality and if you relish a challenge, killer can be a lot of fun. Some people can't take it. Some break. Some give up. Some fall into the bottomless pit of victimhood mentality and keep crying for the devs' help. But my prediction is, the devs cannot risk going further, lest they risk the ire of survivors. And they shouldn't: not everyone is prepared emotionally for the stress of playing killer. It's natural selection, in a way.
  • @Orion said:

Yeah, yeah, I'm the one at fault for not normalizing this kind of behavior. This is the same BS bullies try to shovel down their victims' throats, right up until they commit suicide.

Christ almighty, you're way too dramatic. If you're in jail and get abused by your 120 kg cellmate, that's bullying. If you're 12 and your overaged classmate burns your toes with matches and threatens to do worse if you tell anyone, that's bullying.

Some random guy you're playing a video game with wins against you, and taps ctrl before leaving the game, as a conventional signal of mocking - where does it stand on the bullying scale, compared to my two examples above? At 1, as opposed to 10? Maybe 0,5?
    This. Is. A. Game.

  • One big issue with this idea is that survivors get significantly less BP. With good reason, but your proposed change would make the grind very tough for those survivor players who play different survivors.

With killers, if you have more than one favourite, you have to amass an insane amount of BP to get all the perks and other goodies for them. But at least they get more BP. For survivors, it would be just too much of a pressure.

  • It's simply a mistake they have not fixed yet. With SC (and only with SC) skill check points should go to Survival score (like the actual self healing score does).
I'm guessing it's such a minor issue, that it's really down on the devs' priority list.

I swear i love it when killers run TOTH, it's a "summon the killer" button.
1 or 2 weeks ago i was playing with friends and we were facing a clown with ruin and toth. Bot hexes were kinda close to each other, we took turns to tap them and killer kept coming, so damn hilarious.
We removed both of them eventually and as soon as we did it killer DCed 😂😂😂

And then you wonder why Killers dodge SWF when you troll them like that?

Come on Orion, it's not that much of a trolling. I tend to agree with you most of the time, but if you don't mind me saying, you're a little too sensitive to various kinds of "trolling".

Take teabagging for example: I admit I used to be furious at those exit gates taunts, but on the other hand, survivors too have to face camping Leatherfaces or insanely skilled Nurses every now and then, which is also a very frustrating experience. And when they manage to escape, some, filled with a mix of relief and childish schadenfreude may feel a little poking is in order. Such things translate to me as a Cartman-like "nanana naa naa, you can't touch my fat butt" thing. It's childish, but really, we're mostly adults playing video games: I think some childish behaviour is completely acceptable. Most of them are not really out to ruin the killer's day, just messing around for fun.
I actually tested this theory, and the majority of those games when I get destroyed by "trolling" SWF-s I still get plenty of "gg wp"-s and "man I feel bad about that wasted Mori" and so on. But only if I manage to get some dignity and say "gg wp" first. They did play better. Pointing out what advantages they enjoy due to comm and better organization just makes the killer look butthurt, even if it's right.

Gosh, I'm preaching again. Anyway, I don't think raging over losing to tough opponents is worth it. And as for the real trolls (basically it's just the very small number of cheaters plus the ones who throw obscenities at you after game): they are rare, and they can be ignored without serious, umm, emotional damage.

  • @SmokePotion think about it this way: the guy tapping TOTH or jumping in and out of a locker is a guy not doing gens or anything else. Still annoying, but I don't think it's that much of a hindrance.

-Trapper: reset traps without picking them up before - a big YES

-Freddy: being able to pick dying survivor up, even when they recieve healing - an even bigger YES

-Huntress: gimme a crosshair^^ - only through my cold, dead body. She's good enough where she is.

-Leatherface: remove the slowdown while revving his saw. - Wouldn't it be too much?

-Myers: Bring back EW1 bloodlust (it was a mistake to remove that) - no idea.

    That's my take on this.
  • I swear to you guys I'll start recording and uploading some games, only to show how a mediocre killer can still fare decently against them oooh so OP SWF groups.

Btw I used to be on the opinion there's a huge difficulty gap between facing SWF and soloes. But my recent experiences tell me otherwise. That tiny change on healing time made a world of difference, and it affects swf as much as randoms.

  • Anything with antennae or mandibles.

  • Same here, forget I have it all the time. Don't usually sweat it though, I think between my killers I have nearly a total of 200 ebony mories and maybe 100 ivory ones. Still, it's embarrassing.
    Don't you worry, you're not alone :)

  • My favourite killer, play him 60% of the time. Love his character, his looks, his power. His mori is pure beauty. Have to struggle a bit to circumvent low map pressure, but it's mostly just about hooking early. Then you're good.

I'd also add that this guy is literally the only clown I've ever seen who is actually funny.
  • To the original post: I can very much confirm it. It bugs me, lately, as survivor I join lobbies 3-4 times to get one game. The other times host disconnects. Some of those are because of EAC, but most of it just lobby dodging, often with no apparent reason.

I play killer more and I know for a fact that four skilled soloes are still a greater challenge than a casual full SWF team who are just trying to have fun. Not saying playing with friends on comm is not a significant advantage. It is. But not gamebreaking by any means.

Grow some balls, ye lobbydodgers out there!
  • @Ryuhi that's why  I wish I could see survivors' ranks in lobby. I tend to try tunneling one survivor out of the game early, but if the first one I hook is a rank 17, I don't want to be too hard on them. And it does happen sometimes that you're matched against someone on much lower rank.

Like Freudentrauma said: I'm from Eastern Europe, and I have no clue what Thanksgiving is about either, other than turkeys. I'm guessing... some Christian stuff?

It's in celebration of when we took the land from those pathetic natives way back when. >:D

Ah, those glorious days. So basically you're celebrating Darwin? :)

  • Like Freudentrauma said: I'm from Eastern Europe, and I have no clue what Thanksgiving is about either, other than turkeys. I'm guessing... some Christian stuff?

  • I just have to point out, smacking a freshly hooked survivor is pretty much the killer version of teabagging. Not that either of these two actions is a big deal, but it's worth noting.
  • Should be titled:

"Try this one weird trick to stop campers"

    Or

"Best camping strategy; survivor mains hate this guy"

    Or

" This killer loves to camp and the internet is going crazy for it"
This made my day :D Immediately pictured an image of a middle aged man with electrodes on his head.
  • I agree to the exhaustion reset on hook (helps a little against both farming teammates and camping killers), but don't you dare touch Clown's Solvent Jug addon. Yes it makes him even more formidable in a chase but otherwise he's one of those killers with not a single tool to counter genrushing. The only way you can play him is start hooking as fast as you can, else gens just pop-pop-pop-pop.
Yeah I'm biased, I play him most of the time. Still think this is the correct approach. This addon is necessary.

  • Tyde's content has always been less interesting/entertaining than either True's or Panda's. He'sa nice guy to be sure, but that's about it. Obviously he's entitled to his opinion, but I think here he's completely wrong.

  • Not for first DC of the day though, even the best people (yeah, me) disconnect occasionally due to bugs, connection problems, or other reasons (like when my cat decided to step on the "sleep mode" button on my keyboard during a game...).
From the second time, hell yeah, let's have a free season of humiliation and stigmatization of those wankers. And for good measure, toss in the ones who intentionally suicide on first hook too. They are the same trash as ragequitters.

Though I agree with @bendermac , point 4 would be a bit too much.

  • Yea I was wondering why they didn't make an addon like this. Quite an obvious addition to his kit, and I doubt it would be that "OP". Should be purple, possibly with a slight penalty for uncloaking or some other debuff, like with many stronger addons.
I mean, if Spirit has Prayers Beads...

  • Doing Adept Laurie was a nightmare. I guess it works out for more talented loopers.
On the other hand, it's sweet when a survivor is using OoO, and I have Dying Light :)

  • @Shadopaw what an absolutely silly idea, no offense. Anything above 200 is unplayable and even 150-200 is unstable enough. If someone with ping that high does not leave my lobby, I'll just host a new game. Not worth the frustration.

I kinda wish I could play with Australians or Texans or whatever, but it's just not possible.

  • Not that soon I reckon. No hint so far and definitely no promises as far as I can tell. We wouldn't want them to rush it anyway, so it's cool.
Btw, I had this idea, not sure it's possible but it would be funny: I think I'll try to avoid reading any news, announcements about DBD and any gameplay videos too the time the PTB is out. And when the new chapter is out, I'll just play survivor a lot. If the new killer is worth a damn, it should be a whole lot of fun playing against it without knowing anything about the character or its powers. Not exactly a highway to ranking up, but scratch that. I want the scare factor!
  • Wow who kicked you out of bed this morning

    My diarrhea. Hope you understand.
  • Great, now you're gonna spam twice as much? As if the forum was not already filled with drivel.

Get rid of post game chat.

    whats the point anyway?

I have a good game as killer: toxic survivor chat, I have a bad game as killer: toxic survivor chat, I have a good game as survivor: toxic killer chat and probably survivors too, I have a bad game as survivor: toxic killer and probably survivor too.

Why even give the community the option to be so salty? If anything just have preset options to choose from like: Good Game, Well Played, Have Fun With Your Games.

alright comments section, I've said what I needed to, bring the hate.

Ridiculous. Why are people unable to deal with a bit of trash talk? I get this kind of thing about 10-20% of games. The rest is usually either a brief "gg wp" or a funny, friendly conversation and some good laughs about how some of us screwed up.
Don't want to be antagonistic or condescending towards you, I understand ######### talk can hit hard sometimes, but it's still just talk. If you get hurt by that, going out somewhere in RL must be a nightmare. Toughen up a bit, it's really not much. Take a deep breath, and remember, it's usually no life moronic losers who toss the worst insults at you. Really not something you should take seriously.
And please don't even suggest taking away the fun moments of aftergame chat from me. This is a baby-and-bathwater thing.

Ok i'll tell my friends to equip a toolbox and then switch to another character without items at the last second. Enjoy your wasted perk slot :)

Heh, I just tried it this morning. Never liked last second flashlight switching but it's funny when done the other way around. Didn't work out this time, unfortunately - no Franklin's. I guess it's more effective if you convince the other randoms to equip flashlights then switch back together.

you should see my old post on a new way to troll killers by tricking them to switch to franklins or lightborn and then take off the items at the last second its so funny it works 6/10 times. (yes i know i didnt come up with this ides)

To be honest, as killer I don't equip either of these two regardless of survivor items. Even with purple items all around, there are still better perks. Like Bamboozle.
They drop those items anyway when they're on their third hook :)

  • Both roles are easy. Sitting on my ass, tapping keyboard, pushing my mouse up and down... nothing difficult about that.
Here's my answer though: 2, both.
  • I've been using Botany a lot lately. We'll Make It is powerful, but Botany is more versatile. I keep saying this, this recent healing nerf was badly needed for balance, and it's good to see some underused perk becoming useful.
  • New perk idea: Offensive Odour.
Driven by panic, you are able to perform actions at an amazing speed. You can repair generators 5/7/9% faster. However, being under high pressure causes heavy perspiration, making you smell with an intolerable intensity. Any other survivor working on the same generator receives a 20% penalty to their repair speed.

most SWF groups are like this all the time TBH, just straight up avoid playing SWF groups and your experience will be improved b y 100%

    Coward!

  • No. On the other hand, if I could reduce BP rewards for the opposing party by 90%, I'd use those offerings, whatever they cost me.
    :)

  • Man. I'd be using two Tombstones all the time.

  • I agree with OP. BT just encourages sillyputty saves, except at endgame. And so does Taking One For The Team achievement.
  • I propose to keep one day of each week sacred, say, on Thursdays nobody is allowed to start a discussion about the following topics:

    • camping
    • tunneling
    • DS
    • NOED
Anything else, including Shirtless Myers is okay.
  • @Vietfox said:
I personally think killers shouldn't be able to see what items survivors are carrying in the lobby, so it's fine.

I have to disagree there: as survivor, you can do very well without any items and even without perks, if you're good. As a killer, unless you're using Nurse, you have to select your perks, addons, offerings very carefully, meaning that counter perks like Hangman's, Franklin's or Lightborn are too risky to equip if you can't see survivor's items. Not seeing items could potentially make these perks a wasted slot. I say it even though the single killer perk I hate the most when playing survivor is Franklin's.
I'm killer biased, so take it with a grain of... oh nvm. Anyway, that's how I see it.

  • Seems I was wrong, the thread has not been closed... so far.
I gotta say, however bizarre it is, I very much enjoy discussing politics within gaming commuities. Used to do it on the forums on my favourite game (Sacrifice back from 2000... what a game!). It was a lot of fun. I'm pretty sure this forum has some rule against discussing politics, but many of you'd be surprised how constructive such discussions with random folks can be. As long as we can ignore the trolls of course.

  • Rank reset is a mess, anything can happen. I've been having quite fun games lately and nice and friendly players too. The occasional salt as well, but not that often, and hey, it just adds to the fun factor.

  • This thread is gonna be closed too right about... now!
  • That idiotic thread about "racist Leatherface" really got people moving huh?
    I enjoy it a lot.
  • Man.
I took a painful effort to read most of the comments, and...
Let's just not pretend there's any real issue here. In some simpletons' minds something bad done to a white person in fiction is part of the plot, while the same done to a black person is "racist".
Right. Dear OP, you missed the part that Leatherface is a killer who kills people and wears their faces. Black or white. Crying "racism" is absurd.
  • I have the feeling that many of the players who participate in PTB may be the most biased ones. Just a hunch though.
But there's also that it's not that many people who do participate, and even that number is reduced a few days into it, when they get fed up with the long lobby queues. It's not that bad when a new killer is about to be released, but when it's only qol patch, it may not even be worth it to bother making PTB available.
  • I think it's worth considering. I'd hate it, it could potentially ruin my cherished silent Spirit assgrabbing build, but other than that doesn't seem too unbalanced. Always welcome some tweaks to rarely used perks.

Edit: damn, I didn't read correctly. Thought you meant it would prevent grabbing. But inability to interrupt could also be an interesting change.

  • I feel you man. This game is crap, the devs are incompetent, the community is insanely toxic... It's so horrible, words fail me whenever I try to explain all the suffering, pain, and anguish it causes.

Worst experience I've had in my life. Every evening. My life's a living hell!!!!

1 … 27 28 29 30 31 … 41
