I have another idea: reward the first one who leaves with X amount of BP, the next one a little less and so on.
The boldness that comes from staying at exit just kills the horror factor. Frankly, how many of us would actually hang around when a murderous beast is after us, only to see if someone needs saving or just to mess with the killer?
Every one of us would just get the hell out the moment gates are open, others be damned. -
Just lovely

Keep it up, there's always some survivors who are cool and have a good laugh with you after game, regardless the outcome. And enjoy the salt when it comes your way.
-
Thoroughly dishonest representation. Like every single post from @Radiant, just another excuse for whining.
The work that was put in it is impressive and the list of changes is useful, but the +/- points are way off.
Game is more enjoyable now than ever. We actually have to make an effort when playing survivor. -
Also, a lot of people talk like killer camps in 80% of games. The reality is somewhere around 20.
-
Definitely yes.

And... you can't be serious about "who is your competitor?" Killer and survivors struggle against each other in this game. Survivors die = killer wins. They escape = they win.
I am serious because i find this topic around the mindset of this game interesting. I respect your and anyone elses opinion. you all paid for the game so yo can play however you want to play it. I would just love to elaborate the topic more.
If the competitor is the opposite role and the win condition is a "Pip" why is it possible that the Killer gets zero kills, everyone escapes but all players pip and get average 20k+ BP? Why is it also possible you get a 4K but because there was no interaction between Killer and survivor nobody pips and nobody gets more than 8k BP?
Personally i never saw the opposite role as a competitor. It's more like a symbiotic relationship for me. If the interaction between Killer and Survivor is based on somewhat balanced game mechanics that revolve around skill and not "second chances", "crutches", rng and tools to make the game unfun for the other side the game is at its best.
@George_Soros said:
And yeah rng plays a big role but what mdoes this have to do with competitiveness?
Billy on Rotten Fields = pretty easy game, most likely a 4k and a Double Pip, Billy on the Hospital = well, not that great... Does this make you or me a worse Billy? Not at all. Its just the map that determines the outcome of the game, not your skill.
Well that's a different question I think. Of course you have to take circumstances into account. Bad map, SWF, Ruin spawned right next to a survivor? I'm happy if I can score a 2K then. If rng favors me, then I may be dissatisfied with even a 3k. It still doesn't change the fact that killer and survivors can't both be perfectly successful.
So no, I' m not buying into the illusion that winning proves my amazing skills and superior intellect. But it's still a competition. Like in life, no games are completely "fair" or "even". -
Agitation does not make you faster than normal speed, just faster than normal carry speed (which seems to be a 100%, but I don't have data). 152% is definitely wrong.

If bhvr would put all the ressources that now deal with bans and DC 'punishments' into game improvement making a DC unattractive gamewise this would be much less of a problem. Nothing good ever has come out of punishment systems but a lot more out of rewarding people.
At the moment with nerf after nerf for 80 % of the player base (remember, 4/5th of a game is made of survivors) I am wondering where this game is headed if 80 % of players lose more than 50 % of the games vs. killers. Playing solo a lot I have a really hard time getting an escape these days and it's just annoying to be hardcore camped and tunneled 80 % of the games.
What is the point of staying in a game if the killer never leaves further than a body length from the hook ?
Not true. Facecamping is very rare, and anyone could deal with the occasional case. And tunneling... it has come up so many times in the forums, it's embarrassing to even mention it, but here it is: tunneling and getting rid of one survivor very early is a blessing. It's the best way to have a shot at getting a nice 3K or 4K. This game is competitive.
As for DC bans: a large number of DC-ing people do it as soon as they're hit or hooked the first time in a match. Punishing these people may drive them away from the game, yes, but... good riddance I says. The number of active players is not as important as the number of worthy players. We don't need garbage people who disconnect because they can't take the pressure. They can go play Pony Farm Builder or whatever else suits their mindset.
Damn you must be fun at partys...
If i might ask: Who exactly is your competitor in this game? Its an asymetrical game. The opposite site has a complete different object and different mechanics... and you don't compete with other killers either because there is no leaderboard. On top: DBD has a lot of RNG elements like map and maptiles. so again: who is your competitor in this game?
Parties? What are those?

And... you can't be serious about "who is your competitor?" Killer and survivors struggle against each other in this game. Survivors die = killer wins. They escape = they win.

Nice, I think I'll try this out.
Wouldn't it be great if killers could carry more than one survivor?New perk
Pack Mule: you can carry 1/2/3 extra survivors. Disables wiggling.

Yes, SWF can sometimes be frustrating, but far from the point where I would quit. They are no where near as bad as they were a few months back. While the game still needs a lot of balance issues fixed, it is in its best place in a long time. I personally do not mind going against SWF. Majority of the team, they are not this super skilled coordinated attack force. They are usually a bunch of friends screaming at each other to stop missing skill checks.Exactly that.

Build is really important. If you are having trouble in chases do like Enduring + Bambo + Spirit Fury, last perk can be Ruin or something to slow the game.
Yeah that. Very strong combo for killers who are not great in chases: Doctor and Pig.

How about this then: a perk that shows how many totems have been cleansed, but a new killer perk that increases number of totems by, say, 1/2/3, possibly with some additional effect?Nos37 said:@George_Soros said:l
If they release a new survivor perk that does that in next chapter, I'm fine with it: then you have to sacrifice a perk slot for this information. But for free? Noooooo. NOED is a decent perk, though not very good (too easy to counter), an ability like this would just toss it to the trash perk pit.So SWF Squads can keep their advantage for free, but solo's have to pay a perk slot for it??
Edit: I think the best solution is to implement this and have it display at all times on the HUD, but it would only be visible on the HUD for Survivors whom did not join the lobby though Survive With Friends!
Just bouncing ideas, not sure it would work. But I'm positive that there's no perfect way to limit the advantage of SWF while not nerfing soloes to the ground. Some steps can be (should be) done, but there will always be a big difference. -
Just happened to me this morning. Really a dick move: only two were left, downed one, went looking for the other, still two gens to do, then... DC. Situation like this means the killer beat you fair and square. DC-ing is very unsportsmanlike. Glad it is punished if done excessively. Not harshly enough though.
On the other hand, @My_Dude I completely disagree about suiciding on hook to give hatch is the same. I'd say it's well within intended mechanics, and it's a valid move. -
God, you guys like overcomplicating things. Killing people is good. Try it someday.

Enduring is a useful perk, even without a DS user in game.will_i_am_14_85 said:@HellDescent said:
cleanse totems/use enduringProblem with this is that you are giving up a perk slot to counter a perk, whereas Survivors can cleanse totems as part of the normal game without a perk needed to do so.

generally speeking I have never seen a survivor dc unless the killer was being a dickSorry but it's hard to believe. I've seen survivors DC-ing right after being hit the first time, first down, first hook, even more often when they get downed immediately after someone unhooked them... I'm not saying this is a majority, but there's a lot of crybabies around who can't get it in their heads that it's a competitive game, and a ruthless one at that.
Not implying you're one of those, but I would be curious about your definition of "killer being a dick". -
My god. That's the kind of gamestyle that really should be banned.Avariku said:Never underestimate what being a friendly player can do.
After playing the game for a few weeks I bumped into someone I endearingly refer to as "the friendly pig"... He would spook the hell out of me by literally stealthing up to me on a gen I was working on, and despite pivoting my camera, I never noticed them until he was RIGHT NEXT TO ME. and I mean, her piggy ear was practically pressed against my shoulder.
I freaked and started to run, but she didn't move... so I came back to cautiously survey the situation, only to have her approach me, look at the gen, and rapidly nod.
I took the hint and went back to work, she left, downed a few teammates, but I noticed she never hooked them.
she did the same to me, but when she saw I had a teammate nearby she hooked, downed the teammate, brought them to me and spun in circles until she was free to help me down.
I have been playing "friendly pig" ever since.
I will hunt people down, put traps on their heads, and only hook them if I'm SURE there's a teammate closeby to save them.
and if I notice a toxic survivor, they get killed outright... no mercy for trolls.
but I have made tons of friends and have made a lot of people message me about how much of a relief it was to have a "fun" killer who would hunt them, but still let them have fun too.
there's enough toxicity in the world, there's no need to add to it. -
*yawn* will you guys ever stop yapping about DS and NOED? They're fine. They can be countered. But even if you disagree, why can't you at least have the decency to DO A ######### SEARCH IN THE FORUMS to find one of the million other discussions on the very same topic, and post there, instead of spamming the forum full with this nonsense?
-
Some dbd players need to revisit their fourth grade math textbooks.
-
Clown without a doubt. Bamboozle is the best perk out there.
Survivors: Nea. If the question had been which perk would I choose if I could use a single one only, that would be Urban Evasion. -
Hm, maybe that's it. That's certainly unfun. But a sabo game can be extremely intense too, I just had one recently.Master said:@George_Soros said:
I'm glad sabo is back in business. A lot of players, including True say slugging is a very boring gameplay, but I appreciate those funny moments when I carry a survivor and in the last moment, another just drops the hook right in front of me. This needs a bit of skill and good timing, I can respect that.
Not a winning strategy, since there are no gens done, but still a fun one. When true talks about slugging I think he refers to camping a downed survivor on the ground.

I think it's a good idea, but only for Hunterss' Lullaby. This hex has a lot of potential but it hardly ever manifests before it gets cleansed. Not for other hexes though, they're generally stronger so I don't think there's a reason to change much. It's annoying when they got cleansed within 30 seconds, but you know the risks when using them.
-
It's even better to do it with Prayer Beads + Mother-Daughter Ring, that's the best speed addon.
Then you're completely quiet and move with lightning speed. Complete with ToTH and Ruin, and you can just start grabbing their pussies.
Had a game where I grabbed five healthy survivors off totems. So much fun. -
That's probably it. 90% of these issues would be solved if we all learned to wait 15-20 seconds before hitting ready.darktrix said:Agree. I suspect that EAC is blame for a significant number. It takes a good 15-20 seconds to validate, so don't be so quick to hit ready when the lobby fills.
-
@Kalwren didn't you get the memo? Sabo is back!
-
I think you can change your location in Steam settings, not sure how but it shouldn't be too complicated. I actually wanted to change to Western Europe because I hate Russians, and I should still have a decent ping with UK or Spanish players.
As for matching you up with lower ranks, lacking high rank survivors: I think the matchmaking algorithm already does that, at least I have been pitted against survivors the highest rank of whom was 5-6 below mine.
-
@thesuicidefox interesting proposition. Can't say I like it, but maybe I would change my mind if I saw it in action.
Two notes though. One apparent downside is that even though prolonged hook time may discourage camping, it could potentially discourage saves too, meaning survivors have to put up with the boredom of waiting to be saved, or even worse, tapping space.
Second, I think you're completely wrong about a sabo right in front of a killer being "toxic". It's a bold and respectable move, and funny too. Annoying to some extent (we're talking about DBD, duh), but does require a bit of skill and planning, plus it can be done by sacrificing gen time, so not a pure loss for killer. -
Doesn't matter. @BombDiggaT , you're a hero.artist said:its almost as if you used a strong build on a killer sided map that you brought an offering for :ohnoes: -
@Nickenzie and let's not forget about the dumbest achievement out there: Taking One For The Team encourages dumb saves, and you need to score an insane number of them to get it. I don't even get why unhooking, safe or otherwise rewards survivors with BP or emblem points. It shouldn't. Escaping should, and in order to escape you should be under pressure to save teammates so you don't have to repair generators alone.
I think the devs try too hard to incentivise a certain gamestyle that they consider "fun". -
@Zarathos out of curiosity, what region/country are you from? Now that the event is over, I have to wait about five minutes as killer (Eastern Europe, rank 1-2), yet I keep seeing these posts about how some people have to wait for ages.
-
Claudette.
Can't see her at all.
-
@candymaniam you got it wrong, friend.
Dead survivor = good
Living survivor = badNo need to overcomplicate things.
-
Pointless. After hooking you again, the killer will just have a better idea about at least one survivor's location, plus, your saviour wastes time with an unhelpful save instead of doing a gen. It is often done out of good intention, but it's still silly. If you don't have BT, don't try to save from under a camping killer's nose.
-
I'd love Circe. She'd have the power to turn survivors into pigs.
-
@akbays35 yea, that's a neat trick. Not only does the color differ from most map texture, but I believe the fade out effect is from top to bottom instead of the whole body at once. Thus we sense it as motion, and our peripheral vision is much more adept at picking up movement than identifying motionless shapes.
Looove the Spirit
-
@Rebel_Raven I have the feeling 90% of replies here don't get the joke.
-
You can take hatred out of the internet, but then where you gonna put it? Hm?
-
One perk can be used only once. The others can be used on all four survivors, if they survived for that long.
Look, not trying to be devil's advocate, but I would still say most of the hatred towards DS comes from the fact that it's very annoying (I know it is, especially after a chase that took too long), rather than it being a very effective survivor tool.

Cardgrey said:So I have only been playing a few months and I don’t understand what the ds issue is... isn’t that what dribbling and slugging is for?
Exactly. Dribbling, dribbling plus a Mori, slugging, Enduring, Rancor... just a short list of counters to DS. If you're new, I suggest you don't listen to all these whiners prattling about DS, NOED, camping, tunneling, flashlights etc

dribbling only works if the survivor gets downed under a hook which is his fault basically
Mori only works after you have hooked the survivor, so he got the chance to DS already
Slugging doesnt kill survivors
Enduring weakens the stun effect, but survivor still gets free and is usually capable to make it to the next loop
Rancor doesnt work during the gameNice counters bro
Yup, "counter" doesn't mean "completely negate". Obviously survivors need tools against killers. I'd be up in arms too against any truly OP survivor (or killer) perk. I don't think DS is one.
Actually, when playing survivor I never use it, because it feels like a wasted perk slot. It's not that hard to down the survivor after a successful DS in just a few seconds, especially now that Enduring is more popular, thanks to Enduring+Spirit Fury combo. (I guess I don't much care about DS because I often use this combo.)I get it that DS is annoying, especially when you get hit with it more than one time in a game. But I still feel complaining about it as pointless as complaining about NOED, tunneling and all the other usual stuff people complain about.

@The_Crusader is it something that happens to you in every game of yours? I'm guessing not, but correct me if I'm wrong.
I play 80% of my survivor games with decent survivors. What's more, I often get "gg"-s and "wp"-s even when I 4K as killer. We just tend to overemphasize the bad experiences. (Though... are you by any chance on console? If so, change to PC right away.)
And the original suggestion: come on, read what you wrote their: "fix your community". That's impossible. A minority of players are complete and utter #########. You can't change those, except the occasional ban for DC-ing and the much rarer ban for breaking other rules (if others are smart enough to record it, which is usually not the case). But I can't stress enough: it's a minority. The rest are ok.If I may respectfully suggest one thing: try to ignore these games. Hell, if you're normally not the DC-ing type, you can even DC for one such event like you describe, it will have no negative impact on you banwise (you don't get your BP but that's it). I'm willing to bet that it's only a small number of your games that have such ######### in them. Just do your best to enjoy the good matches. You can't expect developers to magically turn jerks into nice people. Even if they could, it's not their job. Just get tough and shrug off the bad experiences.
