Would probably be horrible. But interesting nonetheless.

That's another interesting idea. But most likely too strong in favour of survivors.
How about not highlighting the Exit Gates (neither to survivors nor killers?).

I'd say no exit gates at all.

as long as the 3 second stun stays and enduring works against it its fine. finally a counter to it now. just hope they dont increase the time to 4 seconds again.

If they increase the stun time back to the value we currently have, then Im done playing killer tbh

That also means you'll stop complaining about literally everything in the forums?
Devs, increase stun time at once!

Or is that to much to hope for?

    :wink::wink::wink:
  • It's the natural course of anything scary. It wears off. Try watching your favourite horror movie 20 times. See what I mean?

Still, devs seem to be trying their best. Prayer Beads Bracelet Spirit was a great call in that regard. Legion is not so great in the jumpscare department, but let's hope our next killer will perform better. But at any rate, not even the best game has the same kick after a few hundred hours.

Definitely not. Same could be said if there were no scratch marks lol

I was just about to say that. Remove the terror radius, but also remove scratch marks.
    Would be an interesting experiment.

  • Legion is actually fun to play against. You have to time your pallet stuns perfectly, which is not easy, but makes me so proud when I pull it off. And you can also take advantage of them not seeing scratch marks while in Frenzy. Again, quite hard sometimes, but that's why it's so rewarding.

I only find Frank's Tape a little too much. Otherwise, all those complaints and DC-s are just because people like it easy.
  • Maybe, but on the other hand, as a survivor you always have a chance of picking perks that are useless against the killer you're up against. Self Care (or Dead Hard) against Legion, Small Game against someone with no Hex perks (or traps), and I could go on.

  • @tt_ivi_99 come to PC :) It's all friendly here.

Well, not always but 80% of the time.
  • Some people suggest Ebony should only let you kill people after their second hook. But that would mean it only has aesthetic value, no gameplay advantage. Killers would complain about that. On the other hand, for survivors, it's very frustrating to bring your best item, or use one of your precious few BPS-es or Cake, and get moried the first minute.
My solution is this: add a 25 or 50% BP bonus to survivors when facing an Ebony. Would ease some of the stress on survivors, without negatively affecting the killer.

Let me guess, Decisive Strike nerf? once you successfully land a DC on Killer you end up in dying state crawling away from them?

Wouldn't surprise me, Killers cry so much about this ability that can only be used once per match, it makes sense that it should be powerful.

Bring it on, DC is a crutch anyway and I never use it. Far more important perks to use than a one off through away perk that just ends up taking space for better perks.

I very very rarely used DS. That’s not the point. Now killers will hook slug everyone. Bc it’s the logical thing to do.
Not really. DS will be less common, so we'll learn not to worry about it. Plus, Unbreakable and possibly Tenacity will become more popular, so...
Smart survivors will adapt to the changes and adjust their perks accordingly.
The dumb ones will come here and cry, ain't that right @e8Lattice ?
    :)
  • @ahnmiyo @The_crusader @thesuicidefox at first I also worried this would be a considerable nerf to Dying Light and Remember Me. But it's quite preventable, if you slug someone who has just been unhooked, or go after the rescuer the first place. We will see how the new DS works out, but unless they implement the change some people suggest (stopping the 60 sec timer while downed), it can be circumvented with relative ease.
That's what I will do anyway whenever I'm running a DL or RM build.

And this infuriates me for some reason. I can't think of anything else than a mod screwing up big time. Death threats, botting, spamming... nah, I'm pretty sure Vietfox did not do any of the kind.
I know mods don't discuss bans publicly, but maybe they should. But whatever.
  • All I've seen in my 2100 hours is 2-3 obvious lagswitchers. Now of course there may be cheaters who are discreet about it, but I really don't think it's the greatest problem this game has.
  • Why doesn't he just go find a different game

  • I don't suppose anyone knows anything regarding the reasons?

  • Yes. Many of them just want to have fun. It's not easy, not even very effective, except flashlight saves. Ain't nothing "toxic" about it.

For all you killers out there mad about flashlights: let me remind you, WE'RE TRYING TO PUT THEM ON ######### MEAT HOOKS OR KILL THEM IN THE MOST BRUTAL WAY POSSIBLE!!!! So... are you sure you want to complain about someone pointing a flashlight at your face?
  • I'd say it's about timing, but I had two occasions recently when I was pallet stunned with what seemed to be perfect timing, yet I did not dropped my fare. Hard to say for sure if timing was indeed perfect or not, but it definitely felt like it.
I'll try to experiment with it and record, if I find some willing survivors. Pallet save is a difficult move to pull off, it should not go unrewarded.

I'll agree with @Delfador , people say this game is dying all the time. If I recall correctly, this game is actually growing a bit. I started this game like two years ago now and I still have fun, just wait a bit and possibly new stuff will come to bring this game up to whatever standards you wish it to be in. Otherwise, do not say a game is dying, since you're one of the few, not the majority.

To end off on a light note, I am sorry this game is boring to you, but it will get better later. If it doesn't, you can Mori me

It's pretty much the same as old people saying things used to be so much better. You not enjoying it anymore doesn't mean others don't. I mean, if you're bored with it, I won't try to convince you otherwise (it's actually a sign of good mental health if you get bored of playing the same game for too long), but there are many of us who still like it just fine.

So many submeta perks, alternative strategies, meme builds and else to experiment with.

@DuckApproved nice work, thank you. I wish you had included the info about how many games you played before and after without DC-ing, but the fact that you did not get banned after TWENTY-FIVE damn DC-s is telling.

So thanks, and hope you don't get banned here for this. Oh, and do't do it again please :)

It didn't do anything besides get attention and screw over a lot of players.

Someone suggested in some other DC-related post that there are other games, more opened about their DC ban policy. That is, you get a warning after a certain number, saying something like "1 more and you get banned for X amount of time". I'm not sure it would work of course, but I wish it did. Don't forget that many players don't care, and don't read this forum either. Clear messages for them from the devs, explicitly saying "don't do this again" would do a lot of good I think. I'm not completely convinced by the "It would be abused" argument.

Maybe OP had a wrong approach, I don't know. But I'd appreciate some real info about how DC bans actually work. May do more good than harm.

  • Just wanna add a tiny note. Other than buying all the DLC-s, I don't really spend real money on stuff, like cosmetics. The only exception was when word of a ban wave against DC-ing people came out, that's when I get the kimono outfit for Spirit.

I'll continue with this policy, and I wanna encourage others to do the same. Forget about toxicity, tweaks to game balance, trash talk, racism, whatever. DC-s are so much worse.

DS [...] punishes the killer for getting the down

If I were given five cents every time someone uses that false argument, I'd be as rich as my nick suggests.
DS, NOED, or any other perk DO NOT "reward" anyone for "bad gameplay". They give you opportunities, like all perks do. In the case of DS, it gives you a chance to waste more of the killer's time (which, as many suggested, depends more on how well the survivor can loop than how damn OP this perk is).

Also, "not counterable" is completely false. It is counterable, mostly by Enduring, but juggling (or juggling + Mori), slugging, Rancor, maybe some other methods work with more or less efficiency. Don't mistake "counter" with "negate". If there were perks that could entirely negate DS (say, just disable the perk), THAT would be bad design. Think about Calm Spirit. Almost completely useless, but a blessing when you're facing Doctor. And this really is bad design, since it makes the game a roulette: if you choose luckily, just the right perks to counter your opponent, you're in the green, while if you happen to pick Distortion and Small game and the killer does not have any aura reading or Hex perks... well, RIP perk slots.

Funny how I "defend" DS. I assure you, I hate being D-striked as much as the next killer. But I feel all the hype against it is way overblown. I don't suppose I convince you, but that's how I see it anyways. And sorry if I come across as smug.

So many of you guys hate DS with such a passion, even though Enduring works wonders against it. Same deal like with complaints about NOED: don't like it? Take Small Game! Hate DS? Bring Enduring along. Simple.

Adrenaline is a real danger there, not DS. Yet, as many pointed out, it has a condition, and often a survivor does never get to use it in a game. The only thing I would change about it is that the effect can kick in later (after you've been unhooked). That's too much. One of the effects (heal OR speed bonus) in such a case should go.

The thing about Enduring is it only makes DS last around 1 second less, its not a counter its just a perk to make the stun a little shorter, 3 seconds is still a lot of time for failing to escape the killer, now take NOED while it also rewards failure in essense it can be taken out the game before a gen is even done, so only one of these perks has a true counter.

The killers dont really have any perks which dont have a counter or strat to negate, each one from Spirit Fury to Rancor has a way of negating its effect by dropping pallet earlier or being very causious and stealthy after the last gen is done until its safe to leave, it all depends on how knowledgable of the game the survivors are.

False. Enduring 3 reduces stun from DS 3 to ONE second instead of FOUR. I'm speaking out of experience: whenever I'm using Enduring, it's about 10 seconds to down the survivor again after I've been D-striked. Now, of course even 10 seconds can mean a lot in a fast paced game, but in return, that survivor used up a perk slot instead of having something more useful.

I see the problem very clearly for a long time now. It's a psychological effect. Many of you guys out there just can't get over setbacks emotionally. "Wee, I've been D-striked", "Mommy, I'm camped" and so on, so you all gather here, baaing like sheep about how OP/unfun some perk or gamestyle is. Because complaining is easier than adopting.

I have no compassion for you.

Well you are wrong in that assumption, thats not how the percentage works I am afraid, its additive to the recover rate and not deductive of the actual length of time so its around 2.28 seconds when running Eduring.

You can make all the assuptions and soft insults you want all it does is make you look a bit foolish when you dont know the math in the first place.

The Math of the stun time/1.75 so 4/1.75 = 2.28s

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iKRVFqp_5E&feature=youtu.be

Its an older video but shows how long the DS affect is when running Enduring as the drop animation is also not calculated into the tier 3, 4 second stun.

Ok, I was inaccurate with the numbers. My main statement stands though: against Enduring, DS is a joke. And the reason why it receives so much flak is not that i's EFFECTIVE, but that it is ANNOYING.

  • Right. God forbid you'd have to adjust your playstyle depending on what killer you're facing. That requires a small amount of thinking. Not fun indeed.

Christ this community is full of weaklings. Anything that makes a game a bit harder than comfortable, is deemed "unfun" and you guys start DC-ing. Sad.

  • The smarter half of forum dwellers keep saying this: you guys are not a TEAM. You're SURVIVORS, and you should act accordingly. If you deem a save too risky, don't do it. If it looks like it's worth it (it's a nice amount of bloodpoints after all), go for it, especially if it's early in the game and you need more hands to do generators.
Btw, often there are more important objectives than saving, even if I am in a good position to unhook. Cleansing a Ruin, Devour or NOED totem always comes first, even if it costs an extra hook state to my fellow survivor.
  • Rex_Huin said:

Spirit can make some godlike plays but against decent survivors I feel like I’m playing rock, paper, scissors.

We both take a guess of what the other is going to do and it may turn out good, bad or the same.

Exactly! Often we feel she is very strong, when in fact we're just getting lucky.
No way she's stronger than Nurse.
  • There are those of us who rarely do it. Looking for the slugged third survivor after I hooked the fourth... it's almost as boring for the killer as for the survivor on the ground. I like my 4K-s just fine, but it's not worth my time, unless I'm playing Freddy, or packing Deerstalker.
  • I vote for SB, but it definitely has a downside. It mostly depends on what killer you're facing. Dead Hard is better against Nurse, but almost completely useless against Legion. You can really screw Legion with Sprint Burst, especially when he hits someone then goes for you in Killer Instinct: you can make him lose both of you.

Playing mostly killer, I can tell you there's nothing more simple than baiting Dead Hard.

Btw I think Balanced Landing and even Lithe is usually better than either of these two, though it very much depends on map as well.
  • Just a side note, but I always wondered, why is it that the licensed killers are all lower tiers, and only the original ones make it to the top.

Not saying I suspect some sinister, hidden agenda from the devs. But still, odd.
  • Look, I think many of us thought of further nerfing SC and buffing healing by another survivor. In the current state, it's always better to have one guy work on a gen and the other heal himself than one healing the other and both jump on the gen after. Would be nice to change it in a way that incentivizes teamwork.

But here's the problem: any change towards that direction would strengthen SWF, and would give little to no advantage to solo survivors. There's already a big gap between the efficiency of soloes and SWF (on comm). So, no, any SC nerf would just make the main balance issue of this game worse.

  • I prefer Botany to We'll Make It. Does not depend on a hook save, plus the efficiency effect is great. I almost never use SC, rather bring a medkit along. With charge addons, it can last a loooong time.
  • Yea, brown BP offerings are a joke. May be more simple to just reduce their BP cost, maybe 2000 for the 50% ones and +1000 going up yellow and green. But I could get behind OP's proposal too.
There's one suggestion I would add: make Ebony Mori grant a 25% or 50% BP bonus to survivors. It would mitigate the stress a little :)
  • Don't feel bad about it. Kill them fast, say gg and let them know you're sorry about ######### mates DC-ing. The more mature players will not mind, they'll just want to move on to their next game. The infantile ones... well, it's not your responsibility to make them happy.

Frankly, I very often meet survivors who, after two DC-s just point at the nearest hook and refuse to farm. I find it a much more respectable attitude. Though sometimes I also let them to drop a few pallets on me, especially if there are some cakes or BPS in play.
  • Do you experience actual physical symptoms? I don't mean severe ones, just things like slightly shaking hand, elevated heart rate? If so, then it really is an anxiety problem. Not necessarily something to worry about too much, but something to be aware of. Mostly because there are ways to fix it or at least greatly reduce it.

I believe I can give you some useful tips. If you're interested.
  • This should be good.

    Don't hold back, @SenzuDuck !
  • Not true. I got about 110-120 firecrackers on my Ace. And I don't even play survivor that often.

When do I get some bloody firecrackers for my Clown or Leatherface, hm? Tell me that.

    Just unfair.
  • Vietfox said:
Not healing is the new meta, just saying.
Man. You're always a step ahead of everyone else.
Stop giving tips to survivors. You're making my life miserable here!
  • While I agree with OP that a non-obsession DS can be more dangerous than the one of the Obsession (because we often don't expect it, even though we always ahould),  I still think @BlackReaper and @Mochan are absolutely right: a good looper without DA is much more of a threat to us killers than a mediocre one with it.

You guys out there who hate DS with such a passion: you need to understand it's more of a psychological effect than an actual hindrance. We get mad when it happens to us. But if we use the available tools, it doesn't actually have such a strong impact. Don't we always tell people complaining about NOED to take Small Game and cleanse the bloody totems? Well, if you think DS is your biggest problem, just take Enduring. It makes a world of difference.

After more than 2K hours into this game, I dare say Adrenaline is much more dangerous to us than DS. It's just less annoying. I'd much rather suggest a slight nerf to Adrenaline, namely to remove one of the two effects (either the speed boost or the healing effect) if delayed, that is, if the last gen pops when you're hooked.
