  • It's a non problem too. I mean, streamsniping, though not bannable, is dirty. But if you worry about it, just don't stream...

  • @HazeHound

Except if you level them up you can pile up a neat amount of Frank's Mix Tape. Now that's an awesome tool to tunnel.

  • @Gorgonia record and report. Not much else to do.

  • Tell me about it. Once the new chapter's out, I'm going to need at the very least 4.2 million BP only to get the new perks on my P3 killers and survivors, with levelling up the new characters only to 40.

I guess I'm not gonna get a life anytime soon :)

  • The "fun" in any game is to think, observe, adapt, try to figure out your opponent's playstyle and tricks and come up with ways to counter them. That's why I loath the meta, not only "meta" perks, but there is a kind of "meta survivor gamestyle"'.

That's what people refuse to adjust when facing a killer who is much different than the others. And that's exactly why complaints about Legion being unfun to play against can be safely ignored.

  • Would be nice, but rarity would definitely have to be increased then.

  • Kobe = self-unhook

Genrush = extremely fast repair of all gens

Yeah I’ve always thought that too that the shrouds should be reversed. Then again though , eh. I can live with or without this.

    BUT I CAN'T

    :)

I can of course, but it's so damn silly.

  • @Ryuhi and @SmokePotion : I said clicking is necessary exactly BECAUSE it annoys killers. Teabagging works too, but if one really craves for attention, flashlight clicking is the way to go.

Because that's the best thing about the game: provoking and taunting/being provoked and taunted. Countless times I've been baited and destroyed, resulting in me going into a blind rage, impotently smashing my keyboard, swearing to play as dirty as humanly possible in all my future games... and just like that, I have driven survivors crazy salty by annihilating those vermin the most #########-ish way you can imagine.

Most of my games are with nice people btw, friendly, "gg gl" all around, regardless of match results. Most people would say if someone is trolling you, just don't let it get to you. And sure, there is some wisdom in that. Except being wise is boring. Being angry and making others angry, that's where the fun is.

  • @Entità TL,DR means "too long didn't read", it's a shorthand for saying you're talking too much and saying little. No offense meant, honest, it's just being short and succinct often works better than going into details too much.

Anyway, I actually agree pipping should be made more difficult than it is now, but this system is waaaaay too much. The biggest problem with it has been pointed out by a number of forum dwellers: it doesn't count at all for survivors DC-ing or suiciding, thus it punishes both groups for factors completely beyond their control.

As for your point about a long game with a lot of chases, lot of hooks, and a 4K in the end, compared with a very fast 4K: clearly the killer did better in the second case. It's about effectively rating performance of players so they can be always matched against others of similar skill level. If a killer massacres the whole bunch of them in three minutes, he belongs to a higher rank, simple as that. Rank shouldn't be viewed as a reward.

TL,DR: current PTB ranking change is too radical, and doesn't count for some important factors. One should rank up if effective, not if he plays nice, there's the BP reward for that.

  • @Ryuhi you mean you got color blindness or similar issues? That makes it tough I hear. But unfortunately, clicking is still necessary. 4-5 charges are just not enough.

  • A strapon for Claudette. In camou colors, obviously.

  • @Ryuhi it's not "incredibly obnoxious". Your approach (chase someone else while flashlight troll is wasting time by following you around) is the best a killer can do. Especially if a skilled looper is confirmed. Many of those survivors though are hapless Ochido wannabes, and go down in a heartbeat. That's funny too. But if they're not, just hunt down everyone else and deal with them in the end.

All you guys who think flashlight spamming (and teabagging, and sound notif. spamming when gates are open, etc) is "toxic", frustrating and so on, please try to honestly answer this question: would you still find it frustrating if you managed to sacrifice every one of them, every time? My guess is no. Which means it's never the taunting that's stressful, but the taunting following your defeat. So just win the game, problem solved.

  • Because that's clearly how flashlights work in RL :)

I know I know, realism is not the most important factor. But you need to understand, clicking is very much part of the game. For annoying killers, for calling the attention of a fellow survivor to something, and just for fun as well. Don't get too worked up about it. If it truly annoys you, just catch and kill the survivor who does it. I mean, if you can't catch them, that's on you. No need to ask devs to change something only because "I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE".

  • The last sentence made me suspicious. What kind of save are we talking about here?

  • I do. Tunneling is great. It's camping that's usually bad.

  • Oh. When I saw the title, I thought it's one of them posts... you know, "you, girl in a red jacket I talked to on Rob Zombie concert, we only talked two minutes but I felt there was something special between us. I know you felt it too! Call me 123456789"

  • @Entità

This post seriously needs a TL, DR... You're talking too fancy my man! :)

Also, you're wrong. People playing "toxic", whatever that means, don't give a flying toss about rank. They'll continue doing what they do, meaning they'll keep deranking, all the way down until they'll become DBD's welcome team for newbies. Not a good idea.

Devs tend to forget what the most important thing for killers is. It's killing. Nevermind a lot of BP and pipping up, if I have 0 or 1 kill, I failed. Similarly, I don't care much if I did not pip or got a tiny amount of BP if they're all dead. Because them all being dead makes me happy.

A rank badge matters little now. With the proposed changes in the PTB, it's gonna mean even less.

  • @se05239 said:

I honestly don't care. They've already confirmed that they won't do anything with Plague during the PTB or after releasing her, proving once again that this PTB was a waste of time.

    Wait, what? Source?

  • That's a nice idea. Just don't put No Mither in those dailies :)

More generally on non-meta perks: they can be great. A lot of them are actually more useful than you'd think, with the proper build. Empathy, Small Game, Detective's Hunch (+ Rainbow Map), Alert, Hope, Kindred, and a bunch more. Self-Care is becoming less and less useful, and exhaustion perks are just as HeroLives says, overrated (except Adrenaline). DS will be nerfed soon as well.

I guess it comes with a certain amount hours played, but them "meta" perks become so very stale.

  • Never used DS much to begin with.

Head On is funny though. Yes, very situational, and it can be countered by a smart killer, but it's hilarious when it works out. I can already foresee slightly trollish survivors waiting for their moment in the basement :)

  • Would be hilarious, but... not exactly their style.

Besides: have you ever tried to vault something wearing armor and carrying a heavy shield and a gladius?

  • Not zero though. I'm guessing it's around 2-4 meters. I definitely can't see survivors right next to me, on the other side of a wall.

  • Just out of curiousity: you console guys don't even have Bill's perks? Or you have those, just not the character?

  • Both Ebony and Ivory Mori are strong offerings. Survivors need a bit of a warning not to do risky saves when these are in play. Besides, it's funny to scare them by using a Cypress Mori or a Shroud of Separation. I'd say there's no change needed.

  • @TreemanXD well, even without communication, you're free to do it yourself: ignore gens, cleanse totems. It's unlikely that others will choose to do that, genrush being the way to go.

Btw, it always baffled me how many people complain about a single perk yet refuse to use a strong counterperk, because it's "not meta". Small Game in its current state is a perfectly sufficient tool against NOED, there's no need to buff it, let alone giving totem information to survivors freely.

I'm fully aware this is yet another area where SWF (on comm) have a significant advantage over solo survivors, and yes, devs should do their best to close the gap between the two, but not like this: no reason to completely get rid of the game's original concept, an important part of which is not really knowing vital things: what tricks the killer has up his sleeve, how your teammates are going to perform, or, how many totems there are left.

  • I often use the two stronger bag addons on him. There are better builds, but this is so much fun: you can create such a minefield of traps in an area that they have just no chance of clearing it. You'll lose a few gens early, but once you managed to usher them there... they're done :)

  • @fcc2014 now to think of it, many online forums frequently delete/merge threads on previously discussed topics.

Imagine what a gargantuan monster thread would it be if all the complaints about NOED were fused together...

  • @fcc2014 oh god yes. Dozens of new threads about the 4-5 same old topics. Are so many people unable to use the Search function?

  • You guys get it all wrong. It's meant to prevent flame wars.

  • All the time. Is there anything else I could spend my shards on? (I mean anything that makes sense to buy.)

  • @HavelmomDaS1 said:

2 million cap would already be awesome. Also reducing the leveling animations so the procedure of leveling doesn't take that much time

Oh yeah that's another good point. Even that flimsy one million takes too long to spend with the animation. Not that it doesn't look nice with the blood flowing from node to node, but I guess we can do without it after tens of millions already spent. There should be an option to disable and just click and buy, especially those mystery boxes.

  • You can talk to other survivors in the lobby. Any sane group, even if all soloes will have one person running Small Game, and that (and only that) person will be responsible for cleansing dulls. Hex totems are fair game to anyone else, but if you're the only one cleansing dulls, you should have an easy time counting how many are down.

The problem with adding a counter either to Small Game or as basic HUD information would make an already weak perk (NOED) completely useless. Come on people, this would obviously be a crutch, something that is not needed with a minimal amount of effort and teamplay.

  • If a player says this, it's usually because you played better than them and they're mad at you because they died. Just enjoy. You should tell them something like "I had a lot of fun with this game, I hope you had too :) ", or anything else to increase their frustration. They'll take it out on someone else next game, but who cares. Play this game for a while and after a certain point you won't even raise an eyebrow to garbage talk like this.

  • @TheCatLady

Occasionally the reason is that one of them wants to find the Hatch no matter how long it takes. At least this could be solved by removing the dumbest thing about the Hatch: the BP reward (2500 I think). There's no sane reason why a Hatch escape should give extra BP - exit gate escape takes more effort. I'm not even mad about the hatch mechanics as so many other killers are, but the reward is incredibly stupid.

Other than that, there's not much else you can do. If you regularly record your games (I do it almost all the time now, it's quite simple), you can actually report the ones who really drag it on for too long (more than 5 minutes I'd say), because this falls into the "holding the game hostage" category, and reporting doesn't have any effect without video evidence.

  • @PinkEricka

    *sigh*

I wish everyone just moved to PC. Never saw the point of consoles, such limited use. Communities seem to be more immature as well.

I guess some mild system could be useful: instead of getting a 5 seconds delay every time, it could be 10-30-60 and maybe more if quitting lobbies in a row. But then again, there are so many survivors who just ignore they have 300< ping and stay in the lobby, so many of us are often forced to quit and start another lobby.

    No perfect solution I guess.

  • @PinkEricka I think it's at least partly a technical issue: deciding whether a lobby quit by killer is because he wants to dodge, or because of some more valid reason is next to impossible. Besides, you can and should punish people for ruining the game of others, and making them waste some of their precious virtual resources, but you can't really go so far as to punish them for not wanting to play with someone.

I agree lobby dodging is pathetic, but it's more difficult to regulate, and more importantly, it's not nearly as serious as DC-ing. (And let's be honest: DC-ing is not punished sufficiently...)

I don't understand how you wait 30 minutes either. Normally, if I play survivor it's less than 2-3 minutes to get a game started.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

Because there should be a counter to being instantly killed.

IMO the achievement is what's stupid, not the fact you can avoid a tombstone. It should never have been a thing to begin with.

Also if you're just playing games for achievements then you should find a new hobby.

Now that's just mean. Some of us have completely meaningless and bleak lives you know. No real life achievements, no purpose, no hope. All we can do is do achievements in video games. Would you take it from us?

  • Couldn't agree more.

  • Hey 3stadt this thing you made... it's getting better and better. I'm having a lot of fun with it. As much as getting regulary destroyed by survivors is "fun" :) But the best thing is: I can always say in endgame "I'm on Perk Roulette, that's why I failed"

    ;)

  • @Eveline

"No more being nice I guess and letting people have the hatch if I want to black pip. :D"

That's actually a nice thought. I hate it when the killer gives me the hatch, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

  • @MysticalMagic92 you say:

"That was the old ranking system for killers you know. It failed miserably."

How? I have a hard time believeing it, but I wasn't around back then, only since June or July. But what other objective measurement is there to assess killer's effectiveness? I understand and support rewarding a "play-nicey" style with bloodpoints, BP is more important to most people than pips anyway. But there isn't really any objective of a killer other than actually killing survivors, so rankwise, that would be the most prudent method.

  • Yeah it's a bad call. Although a lot of killers complained how it's too easy to rank up, but now it's the other way around.

I don't understand: a proper system for killer pip/depip is the simplest thing in the world.

    0 kills: -2 pips

4 kills: +2 pips, and so on.

No, that would not encourage first hook (face)camping, since it's not a very effective strategy against decent survivors.

  • 5 seconds. Anything more than 30 seconds proves one or both of the players are morons.

People actually play vs Legions? Every game I face Legion everyone including me just dc's.

    Ok, that's just pathetic.

  • God, you guys. Can't you all see how pathetically C-rated this mori is? @BACKSTABBER is right. No inspiration, simply gross, not a single spark of true horror there.

Makes me think if the next killer is going to be the Human Centipede...

  • If you're sure about it, post this in PTB bug reports, with footage. I'll experiment with it too. If I recall correctly, devs meant Enduring work on new DS.

  • Won't hurt me much as survivor: I spend the first few minutes with hunting down five totems anyway.

  • The way she speaks during a mori... it sounds exactly like Daenerys Targaryen. But at least she looks better than Dragon #########.
