  • The Anti-camp mechanic is actually not that bad. 16 meters is nothing - and you don't get penalized if your in a chase or survivors are nearby

Seems fine to me. Gives room to secure a kill at the end if you want to.

  • If you really want to know if it's safe to leave a hook, run BBQ and Chili.

  • It's funny how if you....

Get 1 hits from Devour Hope
    Get 1 hits from EW3
Get 1 hits from Make Your Choice

That's somehow arbitrarily okay instead of

    Getting 1 hits from NOED
Getting 1 hits from iridescent Axeheads.

Meh - the arbitrary rules these scrubs come up with....

You guys aren't looking at the big picture. Every bit of time you get back adds up.

40 seconds might not seem like much, until you realize that's a half of generator worth of time they lost.

Hell, stack it with Thanaphobia for giggles. Your keeping them injured longer, might as well ripple that effect to the rest of the team and affect generator repair time too.

Don't forget, there's still a possible universal healing nerf coming that's going to compound this effect as well.

Everyone keeps saying 40 seconds. But it's 40 seconds if you hit 8 survivors and let them escape. Who does that?!

I'm sure I have at least half of that a game from people I have to slap out of my way because their body-blocking a teammate. Just sayin......

  • Why should you even care? Camp or don't camp - in the end it's just another made up rule that you are not obligated to follow.

And this makes the killer toxic how exactly?

I think the guy is brilliant myself.

BTW, I generally don't trust farming killers. I usually just open the gates and get out. I prefer facing the ruthless types that force me to play my best. In fact, I used to report the farmers regularly as there was a button for it.

What you say is quite a thing... so now it's the fault of the ppl trusting others if they get hurt not the ones doing it?

Hmmm. Hope you don't really think it's the fault of the victim for real. That's an awful way of thinking in general.

And if you think that, please keep away from ppl and don't tell them your opinion, like just never...

If you think for a moment I blame a victim of a real crime, you are sorely mistaken. Unlike you, I can separate reality from a video game. If you are unable to separate the rules of society vs the rules of a video game - please uninstall and never play video games until you get your head on straight.

It goes against the spirit of the game to farm with the killer - but it's well within the spirit of the game to mind game and trick the survivors. You got played and that killer was brilliant for playing to your trust. Deal with it!

  • @Eveline said:
Yes it is but if the rest of the team make too many mistakes you are done for.  Like it or not being a survivor means playing a team based game.

You can mitigate the mistakes of your teams and their bad plays with the right game awareness and selection of perks. Especially if you forbid yourself from thinking "Stupid Team" the moment you die and discipline yourself to ponder "What could have I done differently?" instead.

You can't mitigate ALL the mistakes your teammates make (And they will make a lot, I won't deny that), but you can consistently pip despite your teammates if your competent.

  • I used it for ping until the devs added their own ping monitor.

I then dropped it as I didn't like the direction it was going in with it's stupid block system and other things they were attempting to put into place to allow you to see who your killer is.

The killer's identity is hidden by design and the devs have blocked every workaround we found for a reason. Circumventing it with 3rd party software is outright cheating in my book.

  • They currently have a team working on the end-game scenarios that are a bit awkward including that which you are describing now - so they are aware of it.

  • You guys aren't looking at the big picture. Every bit of time you get back adds up.

  • Once again, I would do Sabotage as follows.....

    • Hook that's sabotaged stays in the game
    • If a survivor get's hooked on a sabotaged hooks, the hook breaks and they get away immediately and the killer get's a 3-5 second stun to give the rescued survivor a head start.
    • Killer still gets the BP points and tokens for the hook, the sabotuer gets a bonus for the rescue (I'd say just 500 points for the rescue as they're getting 500 for saboing the hook in the first place)
    • Survivors sacrifice stage still progresses a stage when put on a sabotaged hook, however they cannot be deathhooked on a sabo'd hook.
    • Hooks that break in this manner respawn normally.
  • @Kaelum said:

    • They want to deny the killer BP.

Which is amusing given the killer gets 1500 BP total for the disconnect. Sometimes the actual disconnect is worth more points than if they had stayed in the game and took the hook.

  • Yes I go hard, but I never said I dodge a toolbox.....

And define toxic? To many of the jokers here on the forums, just playing for keeps is "Toxic".

    To which I say, "whatever"

In the end, just play your own goddamn game and stop worrying about how other people play. That's most of the damn problem around here....

  • Doc main here

Don't buff him. If they ever fix loops, he'd probably become OP at that point.

  • Yah, that was added when they gave him his rework many moons back. I've had Nurses Calling perma-slotted since that day.

it's funny as hell to use it when your using the Railgun Doc build.

  • Oh, how about any time the co-textual controls screw somebody over including yourself?

Like when you go for a window vault and end up opening the chest next to it?

You fake an unhook, take a hit, then go for the unhook again only to self-heal yourself?

You try to pick up a survivor and end up window vaulting instead?

You try to heal teammate but hit a generator instead?

I remember one situation back when we had pallet vacuum I started spamming the button as I approached a pallet and ended up diving into a locker I was passing.....

  • They considered having Self Care reset healing completely if you got interrupted, but that was deemed too powerful as it was canceling out work done by other people healing you. Personally, I wouldn't mind it if Self Care interruptions only regressed you 25%. If nothing else, it would stop that silly "heal mid-chase" garbage we keep seeing.

  • Might want to get that CTRL key checked, it seems to be glitched.

  • BBQ and Chilli is a perk designed from the ground up to encourage killer's to leave the hook. Nothing more, nothing less.

And I'd say it works as intended.

Survivors already have more than enough information gathering perks in their arsenal - it's just most of you refuse to run them in favor of your meta perks.

Hell, just Bond+WGLF will not only give you your point tokens, but you'll get more information and utility from Bond than BBQ n Chili gives the killer.

  • I'm going to give you some advice.....

Did you happen to notice that you are given clues from afar as to where generators are at any given time which can give you an overview which are done and which are not? It's true!

On most maps, it's just the light pole. Generators that are not done or are in progress will have flickering lights at the top of the pole. Finished generators the lights are on.

On Haddingfield and Bedam Elementry, every building that has a generator in it will have flickering lights you can spot from the street. The lights will be completely on if the generator is done.

Haven't figured out the cues for Lery's yet, but The Game has closed doors near every generator that's not complete yet.

Using these clues can tell you at a glance what generators are done. And with a little planning ahead, you can prevent this situation without even getting certain perks like Detective's Hunch or Deja Vu involved.

You can also prevent this with a little common sense. Say you complete a generator, so you head to the one next to it, right? WRONG! You skip that generator and head to the one beyond it. You've now isolated an unfinished generator between FINISHED generators - making it less likely you'll have unfinished generators next to each other at the end of the game when the killer has less area to defend.

A little prevention on the part of the survivors can go a long way.

In the end - stopping this is completely in the hands of the survivors. Your team created this situation you are complaining about, you have no right to #########.

  • Depends on what my teammates are doing. If they are doing the right things and doing gens, then I'll do my best to struggle so they have as much time to get things done as possible.

If it appears they are going to hook farm, I'll give up rather than reward both the hook farmer and the camper.

  • You got played and your mad you fell for it.....

Got me. I've adopted a "Cool killers don't watch the last sacrifice" attitude myself.

Glad to know I not the only one who respects the dead.

Naw, more like "You aren't worth tormenting" :p

  • Only character I run it on is Clown - and that's because I don't have anything else I want to run in that slot.

I generally don't like using Ruin to slow down the game because spawn RNG can screw me more often than not and I'd rather have that slot taken up by something else.

Remove some of the stupid spawns (like the hill lighthouse... why the ######### is that still a thing?!) and I might run it more.

  • I would imagine running this with Distressing on small maps would make it hard to pinpoint you as well.

  • I'm sorry, what did the killer do wrong other than defend the objective?

It's on the survivors to prevent the 3 gen nest from happening.

    Nothing to see here folks.

  • Now that I think about it...

I remember in the first year this game was out, I was watching Admiral Bahroo play trapper. This survivor just got a clean pallet stun on him at one of the infamous "double pallet" loops we used to have back then. The guy's crouch key seems to get this mysterious twitch until Bahroo starts the pallet break.

Survivor stops his T-Bagging and immediacy takes one step toward the second pallet right into a trap.... talk about INSTANT KARMA

  • Bleedout gives zero points toward the Devout emblem, so I guess technically it goes against the Entity's will to kill in such a manner. However, there is no sanction against it by the devs, so it's fair game.

I rarely use a bleedout on purpose. I might leave an Abusive Strike user to bleed out on purpose and the occasional hook farmer - but that's about it. I'd rather just get the game over with and move on myself.

Game should be ruthless, so I'm not going to harshly judge a killer who decides to work in this manner - especially now that anti-slug perks exist.

  • There's a idea kicking around that they should just do away with the levels on a perk. So if you see a perk for the first time, it will have it's level 3 values and that's the only time you have to pick it up in the web.

I so want that to be a thing so bad.....

  • Any game that I call a "Clown Fiesta". Where the survivors are misplaying so bad it makes your jaw hit the floor in disbelief they would so something so ridiculous.

A sweaty killer main spotted probably dodges swf lobbys out of fear.

I'm sorry kid, but this game don't hand out participation ribbons. I'm sorry you got coddled and didn't learn the cruelty of competition at an early age.

So I'll pass on what my parents taught me over 40 years ago.

"Life isn't fair, DEAL WITH IT"

  • Here's a couple of undeniable facts that are 100% true.

    • This game was not designed from the start to have SWF. Therefore it was made with that balance in mind. This has been acknowledged by the devs 100%
    • You cannot, however, remove SWF. Being able to play with friends in a team is a basic multiplayer must have for games in this day and age and a huge oversight on the part of the devs and they know this.
    • However, if they balance the game around SWF, the solo player gets screwed.

So the devs have taken the following path - they are slowing seeking ways to bring the solo players up to the level of the SWF. As that's done, they'll be free to continue to buff the killers to match the playerbase.

Until then, we're stuck with what we have.

Given the number of people who dodge lobbies - instead of trying to pressure them into staying, you ponder why beyond your usual "they just suck" rhetoric.

That being said - if you consider disconnecting from the game more than once a night, it might be time to play Civilization V anyway....

  • Not really hate, but "Yellow Dwight" is sort of a chat meme when I stream.

I once had this really cocky Dwight in the Ellis skin who had evaded me all game. At the exit, he got a bit too cocky and greedy and ended up getting downed just short of being able to make it out. He got the hook for his efforts.

Since that day we've had a saying

"Yellow Dwight got greedy, yellow Dwight got dead. Don't be yellow Dwight"

And thus the meme and my first emote was born.

Saddd because I think the new map is really pretty but I don't ever want it T.T

Fun fact, the map is actually midsized being halfway between the biggest map and the smallest, with only 6 maps being smaller. Source - https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Realms (you'll have to scroll down to see the map size ranking and their actual sizes)

How do you "work around" decreased speed while UNCLOAKED?
That's basically reduced speed during any regular chase(!?)

The new Windstorm only decreases your speed while you are transitioning to uncloaked. So you mitigate it by running Swift Hunt to make your uncloaking time faster. Ergo, you spend less time in the nerfed speed. The Windstorm perk is very clear, its UNCLOAKING speed, not UNCLOAKED. If it's not doing this, there is clearly a bug that needs to be fixed

Phillip is still a 115% killer by the Wiki - and the guy who updates it regularly is usually very thorough about keeping the information updated and accurate.

  • I don't DC because of maps. If I get to the point where just a map is making me want to DC, then I know I'm not in the right mental state to play anymore and put down the game for the entire night.

Wouldn't surprise me if the assets existed on the PS4 build to be honest.

There was a bug where p1 Dwight gave a legacy shirt. It only occurred to three people. All of which have since stopped playing due to massive amounts of harassment and probing

Which goes to show I was right - the assets do exist on the PS4 build even though they have no reason to have those assets on the installation.

  • I don't always play survivor; but when I do I main Ace

    I demand finger guns!

  • My main build on Ace is as follows
    Bond
    Open-Handed
    Urban Evasion
    Self Care

The ultimate in knowing where all my teammates are, who's going for a save, who's being chased, and who is about to bring an angry present to my position is invaluable to me.

  • Let's start with penalties that stop people from disconnecting when they get caught before any generators are done first. That ######### has a bigger impact on people actually playing the game than anything.

  • @Nickenzie Just an FYI. In my opinion, somebody saying "Survivors can loop you for a good while" is not an implied insult as even the best of the best among us can get looped by master survivors. It's just a fact of the game, nothing else.

  • @sadmuffins13 said:

I'm not sure the devs punish ps4 dc'ers at all. I report every player I encounter that dc's. But have no idea whether the report ever amounts to anything at all.

DC reports are ignored as they already have a system in place to track DCs. This data is gathered and used to do a ban wave on a MONTHLY basis to hit the WORST offenders.

So yes, you are wasting your time reporting those people.

Given the number of survivor disconnects I'm seeing, I'm starting to think stiffer penalties are needed indeed.

  • @Nickenzie said:
It's definitely getting better, I'm not talking about that! I'm referring to the hook changes, I didn't agree with that! :(

I suspect the increased number of hooks was in preparation for rebuffing sabotage which was discussed recently.

  • No map fixes eh?

I guess you missed the part where certain longer loops have been shortened, and the fact that the landmarks have all been tweaked yet again.

I'm sure more are coming, but you can't sit there and act like no map changes have been made.

  • The one example I could find where gen tapping was done took 1 minute 40 seconds to do. Keeping in mind it takes 1 minute and 20 seconds to do a gen, the process takes 20 seconds longer than a normal generator. If you don't think that's much, I would like to remind you that there's 5 generators in the game. That means survivors will have to do the equivalent of 1.2 extra gens worth of time to complete. Ergo, the perk is still doing it's intended job of giving the killer more time.

  • Self Care will get adjusted, it's just a matter of when and how.

    @SenzuDuck said:
Self-Care is mandatory for solo survivors because people just simply don't care to heal others

Wow... that is just so categorically wrong. With the Benevolence emblem also being dependent on heals, people are lining up to heal me.

You might want to consider that if you yourself is having issues getting people to heal you... just saying.
