  • Because Gen tapping delays the generator progress, ergo Ruin is doing it's job - there is no issue here.

  • I don't have a nemesis. I'm too lazy to hold grudges or bother looking up names.

  • I've tried Gen tapping, seems to take considerably longer than it would be to just fight through the Ruin skillchecks, so I stopped doing it.

  • Hitting the gen repeatedly is pretty universal for "go ahead and do the gens".

No guarantee they won't turn on you later though. I've done the above just so I could get the last generator done and activate Rancor :chuffed:

  • Depends on who's saying it.

If it comes from Tru3talent, it's the ability to keep tabs on all the survivors and switch targets as the needs warrant it.

  • People just don't like certain killers because they find it difficult to adjust to whatever part of the game they break. I, for example, hate having to deal with handling rescues the "Right" way when facing a hag, which is why I hate facing her.

People who prefer stealth hate the Doctor

People who prefer looping hate the Nurse

People who like to swarm the hook hate Leatherface

People who rely on their eyes more than their ears are going to hate Freddy

It's not that there's anything particularly wrong with these killers, let's be honest. The truth is there are just some things some of you can't adjust to - and there's nothing wrong with that. Everybody should have at least one killer that yanks them out of their comfort zone and keeps them humble.

  • Got me. I've adopted a "Cool killers don't watch the last sacrifice" attitude myself.

  • @Legacy_Zealot said:
Stood on the stairs as Myers yesterday and blocked two people down there, can confirm it still exists. If you hit them they can run through you.

Since when does Myers have collision? He's literally the only killer who couldn't body block for the longest time?

  • She's nowhere near the weakest killer in the game, but I think most of you underestimate her.

Most of her problems are what most of the non-high tier killers have: looping. But to act like her abilities are useless is short-sighted.

  • I just need to comment on one thing

"Stealth is boring for the killer and survivor"

    SPEAK FOR YOURSELF!

Some of us enjoy the cat and mouse of stealth. FFS, my main Ace build is centered around avoiding the killer above all else. And as killer? If people are playing "immersed" I actually respect that. As a killer player, I prefer feeling feared above all else - and it's hard to feel feared when people are going out of their way to get your attention and hold said attention. If people are hiding from me, then I feel feared. I'm satisfied (and usually amazed) if they get out without me seeing them and will give them a heartfelt "GG" at the end.

Stop assuming that everybody hates stealth in this game when people like me exist!

  • Given latency issues can make this unclear sometimes, I don't think this is an unreasonable request.

  • Standard Doc Build
    Distressing
    Disturbing Presence
    Nurses Calling
BBQ n Chili (This one sometimes get's swapped out for Franklin's Demise or Huntress Lullaby)

RailGun Doc Build (To be used with Polished Electrode and Interview Tape for maximum Meme-factor with the 35 meter shock))
    Monitor and Abuse
    Nurses Calling
    Ruin
    BBQ and Chili

  • Decisive Strike comes first in my mind. Frankly, it's only powerful because loops are powerful. If looping wasn't so damn easy to do, DS wouldn't even be an issue But that's the game we have.....

Basically, it multiplies the chase time which is already too long.

Self Care would be top of DS didn't exist. Many weaker killers would actually become viable if SC had limitations. Good luck finding said limitations that wouldn't cause a riot though.....

  • Ahem Dribbling survivors is okay too.

And it's spelled Hyperbole, not Hyper Bowl.

  • I'm not sure this is a good idea for windows or pallets. For mid-heals - sure. But the devs have been slowly nerfing windows and pallets for awhile, let's leave those alone.

  • I had a huge problem after the graphic upgrade as well. My monitor has a tendency to take dark screens and auto-dim itself for some reason. Made playing this game almost impossible for about a week. Only way I could address it is go into the Nvidia control panel and override the monitor's hardware and turn up the brightness 20% >_<

  • Issue is known and being looked into.

And it's not miles, you are in the killer's hit detection cone at the time and windows are not magic barriers he can't hit through.

They're considering shortening the cone but increasing the lunge range to help address that.

  • Treatment Theatre, believe it or not.

Smallest map in the game - but regardless of survivor or killer I play, I love that map to death.

  • Still trying to place her, but I don't think she's above Mid-Tier at this time.

To get stronger soon as the mid-chapter patch hits I'm sure.

  • I'm trying to figure out why it even matters....

Both can cost you the game if you do it at the wrong time, but both can win you the game if you do it at the right time.

Either way, a tool to be used or not used - nothing to see here.

  • You want built in Deerstalker? Then play Doctor or Freddy and call it a day.

So to answer your question, no, you can't have built-in Deerstalker. Either get good at tracking down people you've slugged, run the perk, or stop slugging people.

  • I see Autodictact as being a bit like the killer's Devour Hope Hex.

Sure, it does nothing for you most of the match, even seems to put you behind. But once fully powered, it's a game changer. Just as a single Mori or even just a one-hit down in a match can shift the momentum in favor of the killer, a fully-powered fast heal shifts the momentum in favor of the survivors.

You can't just look at the raw numbers, it doesn't tell the whole story. Much like a killer's Hex perk, you are taking on a negative to get raw power later in the game when it's most needed. It could be what you need to break yourself out of any late game heal-loop the killer has put you in...

  • Removing Tiers from the perks is probably the best idea they've had dealing with it. This will help new players immensely as every perk they get will be full powered.

    It also means

    • Less data to pour through when rebalancing perks, you just have to rebalance the one level of the perk, not all 3
    • We have 2/3 less levels to pour through to get all our perks.

It will make things easier on EVERYBODY, it's WIN WIN

  • My only compaint about the map is how dark it is (Claudette Cloaking device has turned up to Max Level PLUS ULTRA on this map).

It's a mid-sized map, sitting in the middle tile-count wise - so most killers should have no problems traversing it quick enough... excepting the 110% speed killers with no travel powers. (RIP Huntress)

  • LOL, I get MORE salt during events because I play ruthless.

It's like they expect me to be their friend and let them farm or something.

  • I did the silent wraith combo. Works especially well if you got cover near the generator you can hide behind while uncloaking.

Doesn't work well on switched-on survivors who use good headphones though - there's a particular sound that's made when you uncloak (not the big whoosh at the end, but mid animation) - that sound is not muffled by the add-in.

  • If you think our Hex perks need to debuff us, you're sorely mistaken. Most of them are made powerful because it's possible for them to be destroyed.

BTW, we do get debuffed. A lot of our most powerful add-ins usually come with a debuff. We don't need more.

  • Your problem is you are playing into this mentality that everybody has to play a certain way.

    News flash, they don't.

If people don't like that, too bad.

Now before you get up at arms, I'm not a camper by default. I prefer to rotate pain and chases to keep people off generators. But the camp is part of the game.

You cannot enforce your rules on anybody, and it's stupid to try and enforce some sort of ridiculous social pressure on what is allowed when there are those of us who have the mentality that the win is everything. Every game your rank (even if YOU think it's worthless) is on the line.

I'm not here to play grab-ass with the enemy. If I feel it's time to focus somebody down, then I will do so without hesitation and pity the fool that throws salt my way.

Yes, I said Pity. I used to be just like them - shackled and always pissed off when playing video games because nobody lived by my code of honor.

Best thing you can do is let go of that garbage and let people play their way. It's incredibly freeing to just play your way and leave other people alone about it.

Especially when your path leads to victory and them to defeat.

You want to end toxicity? Stop expecting people to play your ways and always give a heartfelt GG at the end of the game.

This is the only one and true path. Any other is just a bunch of Scrubs trying to continue to get participation ribbons in a game that ultimately won't matter 5 years from now.

  • My rule as playing killer - to enjoy the good things in life.

What are the good things in life?

To destroy your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women.

  • I have one rule I stick to. If a survivor gets stuck in the map geometry, I'll down them then let them wiggle loose and give them a full minute head start before I go looking for them again. Conversely, if it's obvious to me they would of made it to the exit before getting stuck, I'll carry them to said exit.

Other than that, expect to be hunted down ruthlessly.

There is only victory or defeat. Rules are for scrubs.

Playing killer forces you to play like a dick if you want the W

you can get a w or pip etc without having to be a dick.

It's called playing to win - something the game understands. But sadly, something that scrubs who put themselves under mental shackles with these made up rules don't understand.

  • I think the most important lesson you learned is to just disconnect when the game is over - don't engage these people. Just hit "leave" and move on. Or turn chat off.

People like that feed on your reaction. If you don't give them anything to react to, it infuriates them more and you win.

This is why I don't have TTV on my profile anymore, and why my profile is closed to comments. Let them chew on my silence.

  • The patch notes were literally plastered all over the screen when the update first loaded......

  • 4 skill checks is nothing ffs.....

  • Funny - I found an extremely toxic and corrosive planet in No Man's Sky today. When I uploaded my discovery to the servers, I named it "Dead By Daylight Community".

I'll be making it's portal co-ordinates available to anybody who wants it as soon as I build a base next to it. I'm thinking of naming the base "Try Hard Station" or something else equally silly.

But yah, it's sad that was the first name that came to mind when my suit computer chimed "Extreme Toxicity Detected" after I got out of my ship

If it was me, I'd set up the perk with a 5% progression penalty, then add 5% per token. 20% heal per skillcheck is reasonable. But 50? That's nuts!

Soon as people realize how powerful this perk is, it will likely get called out for nerfs. I'm calling it now.

Remember when on PTR it had 80% boost?

Yup, but 50 is still too high. If you hit at least 1 skill check, you've already halved the time it takes to heal somebody.

Killer already hurts for time as it is in this game, we don't need things shaving even more time off him.

Now, perhaps it will be fine if they implement the universal healing nerf. I'm willing to put up with it till then.

I'm opposed to any buffs to this perk. It's already possibly OP as it is right now.

You have just qualified yourself as not worthy to speak about the perk.

You're not my dad, you can't tell me what to do!

FFS, you just need to do the math to understand this perk is nuts. At 5 tokens that's 75% you gain - minus the 25 at the start - that's a 50 percent heal. If that isn't OP, then the world has gone crazy.

  • Sure, but can we get a penalty for survivors who touch a second or 3rd generator as well?

    Seems fair....

In fact, let me spell it out for you plainly

Tick rate is the number of times a game updates it's state per second. When I looked it up a couple years back, a locally hosted game in Unreal Engine has a default tick rate of about 35 - that's 35 game state updates PER SECOND. It's this low for a reason - as the game not only has to send updates to the clients, but it has to compute and run the game for the host itself.

This game was created from the ground up with that tick rate in mind. And thus, it has been created from the ground up (poorly) to be lean on whatever host it runs on.

A shooter is a completely different beast. Not only because of the precision of headshots and so-forth, the game also has to compute the any projectiles that are not hit-scan, usually multiples.

But yes, please continue to act that one game is enough like the other RE

The point is its be nice for dedicated servers to be added, and they need to re-code the spaghetti anyway.

I won't argue that it would be nice - but I want people to be realistic before they go off on anger-fueled threads without considering what's involved and why certain decisions were made.

I think it was maybe Dave who pointed out that when they made this game, they expected to move 300k units total. it's far surpassed that, and they've been slowly trying to take this rubber-band powered bi-plane of a game they've created and slowly convert it piece by piece into the finely-tuned jet it deserves to be.

And yes, that means combing out the tangles in the spaghetti above all else.

But people don't think about that before they make requests like this. You can't just buy a bunch of servers and flip them on, you have to justify the cost of not only putting up the servers, but patching the client to connect to said servers.

One thing that many people don't realize about development... the older the software becomes, the harder and more expensive it becomes to make modifications to it. It's not like they can throw an extra steering wheel on this 18 wheeler and expect it to turn like an Indy Racecar FFS!

  • Tell you what, I'd be okay with seeing WGLF buffed if I stop seeing threads that ask for a nerf to BBQ and Chili.

Get back to me when you can accomplish that :chuffed:

  • DBD does not require as much precision as a shooter, have you seen the size of the huntress axe hitboxes before they screwed them up?

    Try again

Have you actually played any skill-based shooters? (COD does not count)

  • Gonna sound off here and say the killer would make a lot less points if survivors actually stopped feeding them.... just sayin....

That being said, I've thrown a suggestion in the wishlist forums asking the devs to give a bonus BP to whichever side needs numbers to fix the matchmaker. I'm of the opinion that would do more to fix things BP-wise in this game than arbitrarily doing this us versus them bullshit.

  • I like that he tells it like it is, even if you aren't going to like it.

Most people can't handle the truth - but I respect a guy that has the guts to tell somebody to their face to "Get gud" or "Take a break".

Some of these "gamers" need a slap to the face like that.

First off, if there are not 4X as many survivors as there is killers, you're going to see the matchmaker struggle. Your suggestion would do little to fix the matchmaker issues we ALWAYS have when a new killer drops. You'd be better off asking for a BP bonus on the survivor side for the first week after a patch drops (Actually, a passive bonus to BP based on which side is short on players wouldn't be a bad idea to have all the time)

Second, each game only requires 5 players. Buying servers for games that are too small is stupid and economically inefficient.

yea yet death garden has dedicated servers yet less than 20 people are online right now. makes total sense right? and yes dedicated servers would help with matchmaking. p2p is based on the single hosts connection and there is no way of ensuring a quality connection with said host, be it when it comes to finding a match (connecting to the host in general) or during the match. how many times have u seen 60 ping in lobby then u get in game and its laggy as all hell. could be a lag switch or torrent etc.....but it could also be the fact the killers connection isnt strong enough when the actualy game loads compared to sitting in a lobby. dedicated servers would fix alot man.

And you have complete ignorance of the tick rates required for something like a shooter vs something like dbd which has a huge impact on the host.

    Nice try though.

  • Deathgarden is a shooter that requires a higher level of precision to get right. This means the server likely needs to run at a higher tick rate than DbD does. For this reason, they can justify the cost of putting up dedicated servers for it.

DbD likely doesn't run at the same tick rate. I'd be very surprised if it did. Thusly, you cannot justify the cost.

Now, if they gave up on Deathgarden and those servers were then available, well, the costs are already sunk into them so.........

  • If you got a problem with people playing, in your words, "Sweaty"; then stay out games with random people.

You can't expect people to play by your rules.

Listen, I used to have that mindset - people MUST play by my rules. Then I realized how stupid and futile it was to always be upset that people didn't live by those rules.

I then joined them and started playing just as hardcore. My life as a gamer got 10X easier.

Grow up and give the game your best effort and expect the opponent to do the same. Otherwise, get the hell out of random games.

FFS, this whole "try-hard" and "sweaty" bullshit.... we warned them to stop giving kids participation ribbons all those years ago.....
