  • These are good suggestions except #2. You really didn't come up with anything to reward not slugging. Currently, you get punished for using your power correctly, BUT you also are hindered if you want to chain downs. If you simply revert the nerf, then Twins are still going to slug, because it makes sense to slug EVEN IF the switch back took less time. You need suggests something that rewards not slugging. Or, that it punishes slugging with Victor, but does not penalize the act itself of getting a down with your power.

  • Actually, with the rank reset bug I'm still rank 1.

  • @antgnstea said:

I am one of those who didn't get reset.

Same. Still rank 1s. Not even lost a pip.

  • Even if it looks like they knew it, they really don't admit to anything. You vaguely bait them into that and they simply say it's not bannable. That could be read as them simply referencing to the fact that DC'ing is not bannable (and it's not, as it's handled exclusively through the penalty system now, as confirmed by the devs). I don't think you have a smoking gun here. Unless, not in the evidence you posted itt.

  • Bugs. Lots of them. Sounds especially.

  • I don't think lowering the cooldown would do much at all.

I'd rather make it so it damages a % if they're on the generator.

  • It might be a bug. A couple of months ago there was one where you'd get a party starter after prestiging.

  • Sometimes the challenges get stuck. Try doing it with another survivor. Or do another challenge and go back to that one later.

  • Same result with extra steps. Or fewer. At least, it's available to everyone.

    Yesssslads.

If it's working as "intended" (in quotations because 80% of the game isn't working as intended), and mclean said this, then It must be an actual intended mechanic now?

I would ya know want an actual answer about it because I'd rather not have another J flick thread due to misscommunication. Just please say if J flick is still a bug or if currently it's how it's meant to be.

I think they're not giving a straight answer because they thought they'd removed it and, literally minutes after the update was live, it was discovered it was still possible and easier.

So, now they have to get their story together and see if they can actually remove it, or pretend they did what they planned to and act like the rest is intentional.

Honestly, hilarious. I'm kinda enjoying this ######### show while eating my pop corn.

Because there are Huntress mains on the dev team, if I had to speculate.

    There are. They even stream.

Huntress kept her charge time addons. Has the only exhaustion add-on left in the game and she was given very duper good flight speed add-ons.

I'm not asking for a nerf. I'm saying that the double standard is obvious.

    P.S. I'm a Billy main.

  • Really unprofessional way of handling communication with your customers. They can say one of two words: intentional/unintentional. It's not that complicated.

Imagine if you heard a weird sound after getting your car serviced and the technician told you "you're free to speculate". After getting your money.

    @McLean

  • Your thread title doesn't compute with the op. Mislead by what, or by whom?

In general, survivors are the same as killers, or any player, or people in general i.e. blaming others for their own shortcomings. There's nothing special about game side in this regard.

It's not important because if your far ahead of her she still won't see you due to the blur, same with pallet breaks..and good , juking should be about timing and movement not unnecessary blind spots that shouldn't exist , add some skill to survivor..next argument for me to dismantle?

    Unnecessary because you dismantled none.

  • Because it doesn't fit your narrative?

It also helps in tracking survivors when vaulting, breaking pallets and when they're juking.

  • It happened that now you pre-turn 90 degrees and then add 90 on top during your lunge. Basically it's still the same thing with extra steps. Or fewer, if you weren't switching DPI.

OK, that comment from you in particular has made me smile so much right now! Thank you for your feedback and for all your help with this <3

Can you let us know what is the intended maximum turn angle?

It's still possible to flick for a total of 180 degrees.

Maybe it's time to change the thread title to 'jflick isn't gone'.

  • Honestly, the marketing of this game is focused on a revolving door model. Bring in new customers with new content every chapter, they stick around for a little bit and then leave the game. Rinse'n'repeat.

Also, for new players there's such a high barrier to entry with how bad the grind is and how little educational resources are provided in-game (laughable tutorial, no practice mode), that it's no wonder its players' count is stuck between 30k and 40k.

  • You're describing packet loss, not lag. Try VPN'ing on a stable connection and you'll find out quickly and easily how lag will single-handedly win you the game as killer.

  • Monitor allows him to get in range. Survivors book it as soon as they hear his tr, which is deceltive already. But every meter counts against him.

  • As mentioned, there's a challenge that requires hook bombing.

For matchmaking, check if you've been playing at the same hours, or if you've changed crossplay settings. For me, I'm normally getting red ranks with thd occasional purple odd one out.

  • This has the potential to throw your timing off very badly.

  • It's a fine mechanic, if not even a needed one.

Remove collision and a camper will know if they can tunnel right away.

Remove bodyblocking and the risk of camping is cut in halves, as the killer could always guarantee a trade. And a trade is a very likely outcome already with the current iteration.

Bodyblocking comes with its risks, especially now that endurance duration has been shortened.

Nerf the bodyblocking and the only outcome will be that no one will save anymore and simply stay glued to gens. Which is exactly what you don't want to encourage.

The survivors need to have a chance to punish the camper beside doing gens. The camper needs a risk to what they're doing beside 'I'll stare into your beautiful eyes until you die even if your friends escape'.

I'm upset for myself because of the taunting post-game.

I know the game isn't balanced for people like them. I know that. I can deal with it.

It's when these people go above and beyond to not only BM in the game, but outside of it too. I feel like ######### because I lost a match and felt like there was no possibility of a win. I do not need 3 people bombarding me with messages telling me how much I suck and how trash I am to further solidify my mental state.

But what really pisses me off is that if they did this to me, who (hopefully) does know what they are doing, then what in the actual ######### have they been doing to people who just got to Red Ranks?

People get cocky when they can hide behind a monitor and a keyboard. Literally every game I played online had toxicity. Just move on to the next match, or close the game and do something else that you enjoy. Really, those people don't deserve your attention and energies.

  • I don't condone the taunting. However, it's a video game. So, I don't expect to face mature people very often. You just need to let it go and not pay attention to it.

As for the gameplay, when you play a non-meta killer with a fun build, you run this risk if you match with a full sweat team. I know, because I do the same. The matchmaking doesn't account for it. We all know the deal.

However, I remember you said not long ago that you couldn't remember the last time a survivor escaped against you. It's kinda surprising, to say the least, for someone to say something like that and then being so upset at having had a single bad game while not even going into it with a sweaty loadout.

    Edit: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2127035/#Comment_2127035

  • He's a buggy mess. He needs a fix or a rework that gives him something that works as intended.

  • In theory, it denies the hit if there's too much discrepancy between players' positions as seen by either player due to latency. In practice, it doesn't work, or it does once in a blue moon, even if the killer has massive ping.

  • It's reportable with video evidence as long as the survivors try to progress the game (i.e. repair the gens), it lasts long enough (subjective), and the killer simply doesn't focus on the survivors but only on preventing gen completion.

The killer's objective is to kill the survivors. The gens are the means to an end. If it comes to a point where they just chase survivors off the gens, they're simply prolonging the match, but not progressing it, while the other side is.

Even then it's up to the team to decide. But it's already been confirmed reportable.

Do you know if there is anything the player can do to reduce latency on their end?

Aside from having a good ISP, the rest is basically to optimize your home network settings.

    @nursewannabe said:

While I do agree that hit validation works in a questionable way, I don't think a custom game example works for the case, as I'm pretty sure it doesn't go through the servers, but it's actually p2p

While this is a fair argument and there were already some comments about it, let's say that I have a 'friend' who tested hit validation in the same fashion on live servers and the results were the same at about 300 ping. I.e. no hits were rejected. Survivors also had absurdely slow reaction time when you rounded a corner (peeker's advantage).

  • Hit Validation as we have it now amounts to nothing more than a PR stunt. It was pretty clear when they said 150 ping is good during a devs' stream.

Regarding hit authority, there are things that can be done to mitigate latency issues, R6 Siege being an example. I don't know if BHVR would be able to replicate that.

I think at the very minimum a hard limit on ping should be implemented to tackle the VPNers.

  • Well, they sorta did. The thing is, they seemed content with embracing the band-aid fix way that is relatively simple to maintain for basically any design issues. Basically, if players don't like something, there's always a perk that helps witj that something.

That way, the burden for suffering the game flaws transfers from the devs to the players for not using the perks that the team has kindly made available to us.

    Fairly astute.

  • @Pulsar said:

The global sound still plays, but the emerging from Portal sound does not.

    It's kinda pointless then, imho.

  • It's technically a third party program that provides an advantage. Now, in and of itself it doesn't mean it's cheating, because some third party programs are allowed.

In practice, it's a moot point because, unless you're using some dodgy app downloaded from even dodgier sites, then they're not scanning for overlays. And crosshairs built into monitors, or physically applied to it, are completely undetectable and available to anyone.

  • I've reported many people for chat abuse. And I mean for very hefty words.

I've also reported a handful of hardcore hackers with video evidence and tickets.

Judging by their steam profiles, not even a single sanction was ever handed out.

Take it for what it's worth.

If that's all you've got, then use strastruck whispers noed and the last one is free, maybe bitter murmur for the endgame Hail Mary. Then cry every time you enter a trial.

In general, I suggest pop, corrupt, monitor and bamboozle. Alternatively, pick one of these last two perks and run three of slowdown.

His best add-on is melodious murders. Then you can use throw rate or movement speed. Extra knives are decent as well.

At high-wall loops don't waste your time with knives unless they're almost full laceration. In the open, hold W and spam knives until they're down.

  • @Blueberry said:

It's because deep down they know it does mean something, they're just lying to themselves.

We all know how messed up and flawed the ranking system and rank reset system is. It piles up lots of people to ranks they don't belong in.

That said, just because there's a lot of potatoes piled up at ranks they don't belong in doesn't change the fact that on average a rank 1 will play better than a rank 10 for example. So while rank doesn't mean a lot, it does mean something.

I'd say rank does mean something for survivor once you get from rank 3 and better. It shows the time investment at the very least.

Pipping is flawed, but even then, survivors can't really pip up consistently in the red ranks unless they're capable of doing decently in chase for the evader emblem.

So, there's a massive difference between the rank 4 that bounces up and down between purple and red ranks and the actual red ranks that show an overall trend of pipping up over a course of many trials.

Of course, it occurs to me when I play killer to run into the occasional rank 2 or 3 who plays like a Blendette in her first week of DbD. But those are the fringe cases of someone who was probably boosted by a 4-man or they just had a lucky streak of games.

  • Second chance is a term largely used in DbD without any real boundaries. You can concoct almost anything as being a second chance to fit your own narrative.

Imho, the only real second chance in dbd was original DS. It immediately undid exactly what the killer was supposed to accomplish and it worked without any downsides for the user or (almost) no counters.

Anything else we have now, for killer or survivors, is just game mechanics.

  • It's difficult to pull off in soloq due to the uncoordinated nature of the players. I also often find survivors very quickly anyway through crows and other clues.

My suggestion as a corrupt user to counter the perk are as follows.

If you spawn by a corrupted gen, I suggest you look for totems in the area. Watch out for the Undying notification. If the killer comes to the corrupted side for whatever reason, then you can stealth around until they leave.

Other than that, once you've checked one or two totem spawns and maybe realized what killer you're versing, it's time to try working the middle gens. If you get found, run to the corrupt side and loop there.

Lastly, if the killer is a Hag or a Trapper, DO NOT wait out corrupt ever even if you're in a 4-man. You sometimes see even tournament teams making this mistake.

  • BHVR giveth and BHVR taketh. We wanted it easy on struggle. So, we must now suffer otherwise.

  • I think this would be deemed too much of a grey area to be punishable. Although, it's a stalling situation that could be addressed. Maybe make survivors be auto sacrificed like in egc after they give no command input for a number of minutes. This would include kicking them out of lockers or force the killer to drop them. Again, just like in egc.

Here are some clips from my Twitch.

The first one a Jake was downed, you can see his aura just fine behind walls- etc.

    https://clips.twitch.tv/DarkEagerCockroachTBTacoRight-RffzU7aTcha-t1ov

The problem comes in when you get into the corn- the auras of survivors and hooks become either super hard to see, or fade out completely at times.

    https://clips.twitch.tv/PatientGlutenFreeGarbageTinyFace-MQrYcNnU-t5TpHn4

    https://clips.twitch.tv/ApatheticUgliestSashimiNinjaGrumpy--fdeLVWDEtF_mF9p

Some parts of some of the maps you can't see the yellow aura. I will try to get screenshots of the yellow survivor auras (since most of these are just the orange) with Kindred/Better Together on the maps, I have none atm. But the yellow haze is so thick at times, they just blend right in.

The problem is definitely the corn. There's something in the texture that messes with the aura. I can't quite put my finger on it. It might be the transparency of some portions that doesn't trigger the aura or that blend with it.

  • Do another challenge and then go back to the o e that was stuck. This should unstuck it.

  • Your goal is to kill, their goal is to survive. You did what was within your options. You have to decide for yourself if it is worth it your time and effort.

I downed a Meg at an exit gate after closing the hatch on Pale Rose today. I picked her up and there was a massive hook deadzone because Swamp. I let her wiggle and signaled to take the gate. At that point for me killing her was just a meaningless formality that would waste my time and hers. You are free to do as you please as long as you abide to the rules.

  • @Pixel_BoomBot said:

Technically yes, all they have to do is improving hit validation. Penalize people with high ping.

I wouldn't count on it. They said 150ms is a good ping.

Back to the topic, Dbd doesn't have servers in many region. They won't penalize people from those areas. Hit validation is therefore mostly a PR stunt.

    @MadLordJack said:

It's not just killers. I've had survivors VPN from Japan, Korea and even Russia, and they are nearly impossible to chase.

Also, I somehow only get 120-140 ping when I jump across to NA east servers as a survivor (gotta love testing ping advantages) so I don't even know what kind of awful service they are using.

There are latency hacks. That's probably what you went against. I fan into a few in the past couple of weeks.

Simple high ping survivors and they're hittable without problems.

I'd be on the lookout the next time the survivor seems laggy and slippery.

To openly admit to that on these forums? Brave... but foolish, boi. I hope for your survival, young one.

They're not banning for it. It doesn't mean you should use it, but still.

  • What I don't understand is that they gutted every other killers' add-ons, but for Huntress they nerfed iri head (inevitable), then even let her keep one exhaustion while they deleted those from anyone else, and they didn't touch charge time while the others even don't have any anymore or they added a big downside like fine tuned carburetor. And they added some good stuff like flight speed.

I know there are a lot of Huntress mains among the Devs, but at least leave us a piece of the cake for those who main other killers. Talk about double standards.
