AFK exploit needs fixing

It came down to me and 1 other survivor. The other survivor was slugged and went AFK while Freddy looked for me.

When they were about to bleed out, the killer picked them up to pause the bleedout timer and continued to patrol gens, making it impossible for me to repair the last remaining gen or get the hatch. They essentially got to take the game hostage by exploiting the game's mechanics.

I reported both the AFK survivor and the Freddy player, but something needs to be done about this exploit. Maybe have the bleedout timer continue to drain while carried if they had idle crows at the time of pickup, or if 10 seconds pass with no attempt to wiggle while being carried.

  • Maybe have the bleedout gauge drain at half speed while carried?

  • why not just let the killer kill you? if he wants me dead that much, I’ll let him kill me. its a no win situation and you’re wasting your own time. also it’s not really an exploit, the survivor is at fault for going AFK.

  • It is an exploit of game mechanics. The killer should only have one reason for picking up a survivor and that is to hook them. The killer did not hook them. They know how the bleedout and hatch mechanics work and exploited them to gain an unfair advantage.

Hmm, I wonder where they got the idea of going AFK... It couldn't be from the countless times I've seen users post "just go AFK if the killer slugs you" in every thread that complains about slugging... /s

  • I can't remember ever being in that situation in the 4 years I've played so it's a very rare thing that's ever going to happen, so just take the L and move on.

  • Did you try picking up the other survivor while they were slugged? If you didn't make an attempt to pick them up and the bleed out timer was almost out (or even when killer finally picked them up) I wouldn't be surprised if they walked away figuring they were dead anyway. If you weren't even making an attempt they probably got frustrated thinking you were going to wait for them to die so you could get hatch and walked away instead of sitting there getting frustrated bleeding out.

If the bleed out timer was almost up, and you had found the hatch during the nearly 4 minutes they were slugged, you could've gone to an area away from the hatch and waited for the killer to find you (or fast vault to get their attention quicker) which would make them have to stop carrying the survivor to have a chance at catching you. They would've either dropped the survivor which would've finished the bleed out or hooked the survivor - either would've given you a shot to escape through the hatch or open an exit gate if he hooked the survivor near the hatch so he could close it right away.

I'd be good with survivors continuing to bleed out when being carried by killer, especially if not wiggling. Killers need to hook a survivor instead of leaving them on ground for 4 minutes.

  • They went AFK while on the hook which was next to hatch. They stood there after unhooked and idle crows eventually showed up.

I tried to do the last gen. The killer kept pushing me off, but never found me. Picking them up would have put us right back in the same boat as soon as Freddy slugged them again and would only have wasted more time.

  • Why didn't you just AFK yourself so the Freddy gets bored and kills you both? This really seems like the other survivor's fault. There was no hope anyway.

  • Doesn't make it right

  • I think this would be deemed too much of a grey area to be punishable. Although, it's a stalling situation that could be addressed. Maybe make survivors be auto sacrificed like in egc after they give no command input for a number of minutes. This would include kicking them out of lockers or force the killer to drop them. Again, just like in egc.
