It is because it has not any counter. It makes survivor 100% silent. Stridor countered it before nerf but not anymore. I just would take back Stridor nerf.

If you would just revert Stridor, you will still only have 1 Killer using Stridor - Spirit.

Before the Stridor-Nerf, you only saw it on Spirit. Every other Killer player who had a problem with Iron Will did not bother to run Stridor anyway.

  • Most people run Prove Thyself because of the increased amount of BPs you get. Buff the BPs you get for repairing Generators (seriously, 1250 for a full Gen is really outdated considering that I can get almost the same amount by hitting 4 Great Skill Checks), and you will see less Prove Thyself.

And personally, two Survivors with Prove Thyself on one Gen is still better than two Survivors without Prove Thyself on two Gens...

  • Nothing is broken. Everything works as intended. You may not like the outcome, but not liking things is not a reason to use the Killswitch.

  • As PC-player when I tried it, my Matchmaking was faster. 30 seconds instead of 3-4 minutes. Also the teammates were better.

But you get only matched with players who also turn Crossplay off, so we had the same players nearly every Match. Survivor and Killer.

It's just the same builds over and over with survivors. I bring stuff like Devour Hope instead of Ruin and don't run any gen slowdown perks. They act like this is some dbd tournament.

There are not many good Survivor Perks which are worth running.

And you can thank Killer players for part of the Metagame. I would also like to not run BT or DS, but both are needed. And I am someone who does not go for unsafe Hook Rescues (unless necessary) or wants to get the Killers attention to DS them.

Not saying that everyone would drop BT and DS if Killers would suddenly stop tunneling or camping, but those Perks are usually used as a reaction of Killer playstyles.

And you can run what you want, I completely sympathize with Killers who dont run any Gen-Slowdown, but it is your own decision and it is their decision to run DS and BT and other Perks.

  • I agree. It is odd that you get pushed off the Gen/the Gen gets blocked when the other person stops repairing.

I guess this is something which never came up before, because nobody used Dead Mans Switch. BHVR should look into it and decide if this is intended or not.

Maybe for some reason they thought it was overkill to do all that? Although yeah like you said it adds like no value so removing it is just...unnecessary.

Yeah, it was removed. Tested it, Locker Opening-Speed is the same as normal, just vaulting and breaking Pallets/Gens is faster.

I dont really know why they would remove it, but I guess, there was some reason. It does not matter too much overall I guess.

I don't remember this being changed but, here it is

I guess when they rewrote the description for it, they also removed the searching lockers part?

Was this a shadow nerf or something, I don't remember this ever being changed

I dont really know why they would remove the open Lockers Part. I will play a game as Wraith just now to check it.

Because opening Lockers faster is the most irrelevant thing on this Add On.

  • Only when cloaked. Shadow Dance does nothing while uncloaked.

But while cloaked, you have a higher breaking/kicking Speed, faster vaulting and open Lockers faster.

And with that allowing more killer to just leave since the game isn't fun anymore thanks to the devs basically appeasing to survivors.

You know that you are answering to a comment which is 1 year old? The change which was mentioned was to make it actually work with Dedicated Servers.

  • Sabotage is already such a niche and weak mechanic, no need to nerf it further. (And also no need in buffing it, Sabotage has to be weak, since Hooks are such a important game mechanic)

Especially the Buff to Hangmans Trick is basically the same like it is now, but even more idiot-proof.

What? Of course the surv gets the extra loop because of DH, that's the whole point. That's what I was saying. It's an extra loop you got when you should have been down. All perks make the player's life easier to varying degrees, not many flat out save your ass when you screwed up like DH. It does not have the reputation it does for no reason.

And again with the false equivalency with the Infectious Fright. Of course it takes no skill, but it doesn't have the immediate impact that DH does. It's a common opinion among many that DH is probably the strongest perk in the game for a reason, and there is definitely a hierarchy here. With some perks being much stronger than others (and some OP).

If that wasn't the case, people would just add perks at random.

Saying "no perks take skill to use, so all perk usage is equal in terms of reflecting player skill" is absurd.

    You still dont get it.

If I have Dead Hard, I can make another Loop, because I can get away with it. I know that I can do that, so I am doing it.

If I dont have Dead Hard, I cannot make another Loop. But this does not mean that I try to do it, I drop the Pallet.

In both scenarios, I dont go down. And in both scenarios I did not screw up.

You are just repeating what I already called wrong before. This does not make it more right.

And I just compared it to Infectious Fright, because the outcome (aka a better player will be better use of the Perk) is roughly the same. You can say the same about Ruin. It takes 0 Skill to use Ruin. However, the better Killer player will actually get some use out of it, the Killer player who ignores players on Gens will not get use out of it.

This also does not have anything to do with impact. Impact is a thing you bring into the discussion, but it does not matter for that specific case.

No Perk in DBD requires Skill. But players who are more skilled can get more use out of those Perks.

Saying that DH requires no Skill is just the opinion of frustrated Killers who want to call Survivors bad, even if they were not bad, because they make the choice to get another Loop, because they knew they would get away with it.

Does anybody know roughly when the ptb would start?

15th of February should be the date. This would be 3 weeks after the Midchapter-Patch.

  • @Pulsar said:

I think it's probably going to be one of the lowest participated PTB's in a long time.

Ringu isn't that hype of a license and people aren't happy with the game right now. Likewise, Dying Light 2 and Elden Ring release at pretty much the same time.

While this is true, I think the biggest factor is how early they announced it. Maybe I will get some hype when it gets closer to the PTB, but currently, the Ringu-Chapter is not interesting at all.

    @Topic:

    I expect:

    • New Killer with an hopefully interesting mechanic and HOPEFULLY not another Anti-Loop mechanic
    • At least 1 decent Killer Perk and 1 Killer Perk which is situational, but worth to use on some Killers
    • Mediocre Survivor-Perks at best
    • Haddonfield graphical Rework
    • No new Map
    • None or almost no Balance Changes to existing Content, since the main focus should be the Chapter, especially because it is licensed and Balance Changes are used more for the Midchapter. (Seriously, I think a license holder will expect their content to be the main thing without much to distract from it)

Not to nitpick, but isn't saying that kind of supporting the point? I mean, when someone is saying "you're using X perk because are aren't skilled" and you say "that doesn't make sense because using perks takes no skill" is at best helping their argument, and at worst absolute nonsense.

That's exactly the point trying to be made; pressing E takes no skill, and you use it to bail yourself out of a situation you are in because of your lack of skill. Takeaway being that a skilled survivor doesn't need DH.

I mean, that's the entire point, and the entire basis of designating some perks as "crutch".

Or is it just really late and I am reading that wrong?

"That's exactly the point trying to be made; pressing E takes no skill, and you use it to bail yourself out of a situation you are in because of your lack of skill. Takeaway being that a skilled survivor doesn't need DH."

You get that wrong. Survivors dont get saved by DH when they did an extra Loop, they do an extra Loop BECAUSE they have Dead Hard.

You may argue if it takes skill to use Dead Hard in the correct way, because there are Survivors who just use Dead Hard in a Deadzone, which increases their Chase Time by 1 second and gives the Killer the information that they have DH.

But overall, no Perk in DBD requires Skill. They are just "slap them on and use them". For both sides.

The outcome what the player does with those Perks is a different topic. See my DH-example above. Another example would be Infectious Fright for Killers. Using Infectious Fright requires 0 Skill. Deciding whether it is worth going for the Survivor or not however takes some experience and knowledge.

  • Sprint Burst is already the best Exhaustion-Perk. And yes, better than Dead Hard. Because Sprint Burst makes every area safe.

Making it activate on button pressing would be way too much.

Same goes for Lithe, even if it is not as strong as Sprint Burst or Dead Hard. And you can even control Lithe a bit already, by not fast-vaulting Windows.

  • After getting used to them, I prefer the Wiggle-Skill Checks.

Simply because they give more BPs.

  • TTVs are not toxic. Toxic people are toxic, regardless if they are Streamers who put TTV in their name, Streamers who dont put TTV in their name or regular players.

But the DBD Killer-Community seems to have some hate against Streamers for whatever reason.

But most Streamers are just normal people with some viewers. Especially in DBD, it is very rare to find Streamers who have a high viewcount in most games, because it is not easy to get viewers with DBD as the main game, just because the way how twitch works. If you look up for the DBD-Category you can filter for smaller Channels, but most wont do that and only see the big channels.

And especially players who put TTV in their Profile will not have a high viewerbase, they are advertising their stream to get more viewers. You wont see TTV often when you face a Streamer who has a somewhat big viewerbase.

Most TTVs I have seen (which means way above 90%) have been nice people. And I like to watch the VOD when playing against them or with them. But most of the time they are not even streaming.

its insane how desperately you will defend any toxic unfun gameplay from survivors, it's disgusting

Nah, I just dont like the word "abuse" and that it is used for basically everything. It is not only for Boil Over, you see Killers who say that Survivors "abuse" strong Loops or that Survivors "abuse" Dead Hard.

The word is dumb and not fitting.

  • @Devotion said:

Survivor using perks and/or map offerings = Abuse?

Yes, this is a common term players in DBD like to use. If someone is doing something which they dont like, they just call it "abuse". Of course nobody is abusing any Perks or Offerings.

  • I disabled Crossplay a few weeks ago and my teammates were better. The Lobby times also were much faster, 30 seconds instead of around 3 minutes.

However, it gets boring pretty fast since you get only matched with players who also have crossplay disabled, meaning you can get the same Killer multiple times in a row.

  • Playing Boil Over is a strategy. If you dont like it, your problem.

  • And I only got 1 Kill in my latest Deathslinger game with 9 Hooks. This Pig is such a skilled player, getting a 2K with 0 Hooks while being afk.

But, to be more on topic: Not much you can do. If a Pig-Player decides to play like that, it is pure RNG. You have to do Gens at some point, otherwise the game would not end. And then you have to be lucky that the Key is not in that Box.

Sucks, some people will say it is a strategy. It is unfun. But just shows what can happen if you take the game into one extreme.

  • Then I dont know of any way to kill the Survivor.

Basically there are only Devour Hope with 5 stacks, Rancor, a Mori-Offering or Pyramid Heads Mini-Mori. But when not using a Mori-Offering or Rancor, only having 3 Hooks (and therefore 3 Unhooks) in total AND going against a Pig, there should be no way to kill someone.

So at this point, it could be a Bug or Hacking.

  • Did you play against a Pyramid Head?

  • According to the text of the Perk.

Thats like saying Killers abuse BBQ to get more BPs.

  • Amazing that people dont understand what the Kill-Switch is for.

The Kill-Switch is for things which are not working as intended and can cause serious problems. The Kill-Switch is NOT for Perks you dont like but are working as intended.

Oh I didn't suggest it was recent, although you've gone and confirmed it now anyway, this wasn't some doppelgänger of yours then? A wicked killer main trying to frame you perhaps?

It may be an unpopular opinion but I agree r.e. stacked slowdowns. The difference is I

    1) don't run them

    2) rarely complain about other people running them

    3) and I definitely don't do all of the above and then start accusing other people of being hypocrites while....running the meta while complaining about the meta...while complaining about people complaining about the other side's meta...before then admitting to the thing you've been accused of and calling said person a liar in the same breath- like you see how this comes across as a bit bizarre right?

Run what you want, learn to live with what other people run, the game is honestly more fun once you do

As I said, I only ran those Perks because they were the best I had at this time. I just run what I have when I prestige and I was lucky to have Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer. Which carried me a lot. And still carries Killer players nowadays.

But if I can avoid it, I am quite off-meta on Killer, if you count Slowdown-Stacking as Meta. I use good Builds, but you wont see me complain about Killers using Corrupt Intervention (as an example), because I use it on almost every Killer.

Same like you wont see me ever complain about the Survivor-Meta, since I either used said Perks before or am using them now (e.g. I will never complain about DH, because I ran it since Balanced Landing got nerfed until a few months ago, where I just stopped using it).

But yeah, I think it is hypocrisy to say that one side doing very unfun things is a strategy while the other side doing unfun things is bullying. If someone defends playing as Bubba to facecamp the first Survivor they find, they should also be ok with not getting any Hooks due to Boil Over + RPD. Same vice-versa.

  • You will unlock a Cosmetic every time you used an Envelope and someone opened it (which happens 100%).

When the Popup appears which shows you which cosmetic you got, it also displays X/10 so that you can see how many you have.

If nothing pops up after using an Envelope and you are sure that someone opened it, you already have all Cosmetics/Charms.

  • Personally, I think Tier 3 DMS is better. As you said, efficient downs might be a thing, but if you really Down people that fast that it would matter if it is off Cooldown 10 seconds earlier, you are doing already very good.

And regarding the synergy with PGTW - I dont think that there is much. If you were running PGTW and decide to run DMS, you should switch to Pain Resonance. This also has the effect that any Survivor on the Gen screams and lets go of it, which blocks them. They wont regress while blocked by DMS, but you get the 15% Regression due to Pain Resonance and will have the Gen blocked for the full 45 seconds.

  • The Buffs helped. I think the main thing is that this Add On now is actually decent to use on every Map. Before, you were only able to use it on Indoor Maps, because you really had to capitalize on the Aura Read, since it removed not only more Bear Traps, but, more important, half of your Boxes.

  • Are you using a Colorblind Mode? Or some Mod to change the appearance of things in the game (like Perk Icons, Scoring Events...)?

Yeah but they were clearly just trying to bully the dude. That’s not fun at all. The equivalent to the camping bubba games

I would not really say that they tried to bully. Aside from the two Boil Overs, their build looks normal. Those are also not Sabo-Toolboxes. If you really want to bully with Boil Over, you would not burn a Map where you have a 1/5 chance to actually get a decent opportunity to force Drops. Because all other Coldwind-Maps only have drops due to RNG (aside from Basement) and on some of them (Hills) there is even a Hook.

Obviously they were not the nicest people to burn Coldwind Farm and the way they acted in chat is not really neccessary. But I would not call that a Bully Attempt.

Hypocrisy like constantly complaining about killers running slowdown perks when you rock ruin/undying/tinkerer blight? Unless that was just someone else whose steam name is exactly the same as your forum name, underscore and all

I'd give you some advice on getting rush hits (generally you want to use m&k or at least controller, and not a plugged-in steering wheel or dance mat) but with those perks it's not the most important thing to learn tbh

I dont mind being criticized for unpopular opinions. I expect it.

But, please dont spread any lies. I used Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer when I prestiged Blight, which was when he was released. If you run into my Blight, you will see Corrupt, BBQ, Lethal Pursuer and Shadowborn.

I complain about stacking Slowdown, but I dont do it myself, unless I dont have anything else on said Killer.

    Lying is not cool.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2773728#Comment_2773728

Okay.. reading your comment makes me think you have played like 50 killer games tops. Most likely on lower or mid MMR.

The survivors are able to make any game for any killer miserable because the game is designed that way. Boil over is just an additional tool the survivors are getting to achieve this.

Facecamping? The funny thing about face camping is that it's incredibly boring and annoying to go up against, I agree, but in the end, you rush gens and the game ends pretty quickly. The worst thing that can happen is killer lets survivors bleed out, which is 4 minutes. Also annoying, but in my experience, if the survivors want to, they can do ANYTHING they want with most killers, and the better the survivors the more options they have. Check this example, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TJSvaDTrWA But I'm sure you can find a lot more. Let's be honest, killers can be terrible people, too. But when I play survivor, somehow I never really feel too affected. Again, worst case scenario I bleed out. Best, I give up on the hook. I'm a survivor, I have that options.

Let's be honest, Boil Over is somewhat of a tragedy. I believe PixelBush included it in a video as an example of a perk, that is well-designed, not fun, incredibly weak, and should stay that way because no one would like it buffed. This was, I believe around a month before they announced the buff. I admit that boil over is probably not the strongest of perks. But it's another tool for people who want to bully to use. The counterplay? Letting people bleed out on the ground. Is this something that we really needed? I think they could've buffed an aspect of the perk for a start. They buffed 2 and added another one. Why?

Circle of healing is somewhat similar, just much stronger. It motivates tunneling and camping. At least here you can argue that killers that wanted to win tunneled before CoH either way, but with Boil Over you are pretty much doomed because you cant hook the person. period. Some people argue that the problem is not the perk, but the map design (which sounds very reasonable), but I have a feeling it doesn't change much.

I have almost 7k hours in this game and a quite a lot on Killer. Even if I would not play 50/50 (I think it should be around 50/50 currently), I probably have more hours on Killer than many players on total.

And can Survivors make the game miserable for Killers? Sure.

Can Survivors prevent the Killer from actually playing the game or even winning the game? Not really. Flashlight-clicking and teabagging does not prevent anything from that. And if the Survivors are better than the Killer, than the Killer-player got outskilled. Which can happen regardless if the Survivors want to make the experience for the Killer miserable or not.

I wont watch the video btw.

However, I just stick with my point - whenever Killers complain about Boil Over, I just say it is a strategy. Because this is the Killers response if they make the game extremely unfun for Survivors. And, unlike Survivors, Killers can actually prevent Survivors from playing the game. Play Bubba, take Agitation and Iron Grasp and you will have one Survivor dead. Nothing what the other Survivors can do.

Why is it bullying when Survivors use Boil Over and burn a RPD-Offering, but it is a strategy when a Killer brings Agitation + Iron Grasp and facecamps the first Survivor they found?

I am not saying it is great that Survivors are able to do that. But I stick to my point and say that it will not happen that much in a week and onwards, currently it is more, because the Perk just got buffed. After some time, you wont see it much. Probably the same rate as Sabo-Squads - extremely rare, but annoying when you get them once in a blue moon.

But MAYBE it can stop Killers from just parroting "It is a strategy" if they play in the most unfun way because Killers can actually prevent Survivors from playing the game.

  • +1

    Completely agree and well said.

Especially point 5 makes me really happy. I always said that the Bloodwebs during Events should be flooded with Event-Stuff, because it is very frustrating to do multiple Bloodwebs to get an Offering or an Item. But now you get a fixed amount each Bloodweb and this is great.

I think with this event they listened to a lot of Feedback regarding Events.

  • I agree that Pinhead is not fun to play against. And the main reason why he is popular right now will be the voicelines, many players wanted them back.

However, there is no point to disable Pinhead since he is working as intended.

    2) Is nothing that can be changed right now. Pinhead is a SoloQ-Stomper.

    3) Is unfortunate and should be fixed by BHVR at some point.

And 1)... Chains Spawn in waves of 3. So once 3 Chains spawned, you should start doing the Box. There will be enough time to solve it that way.

  • @Laluzi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2773666#Comment_2773666

I absolutely can. That's no more hypocritical than saying something like "Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer on Blight/Nurse is too oppressive" and then saying "Basement Bubba is bad for the game and should be nerfed" even though Bubba isn't running Ruin, Undying, Tinkerer, Nurse, or Blight.

No matter what people like to complain about with the big... 6? 7? survivor perks, and whether or not I agree with those complaints, they all lead to normal and interactive gameplay. Boil Over doesn't perpetuate dynamic gameplay, it perpetuates spamming map offerings and running to the same corners of the map as soon as you see the killer, and the killer getting all the fun game interactivity of banging their head against a brick wall.

There are so many good perks that aren't quite meta but are well worth running and fit just fine into DBD's gameplay. At no point have I ever made the hyperbolic claims you're ascribing to me. The closest I'll say is that a perk like Boil Over whose effect is to make it harder for the killer to hook you and opens up the possibility of wiggling off without sustained teammate intervention has to be either weak or limited in use, because being able to undo a chase is an extremely powerful thing and an unlimited activation condition being reliable at that is fairly disastrous. DS is a balanced example of how to do this, although I think it could be given a few buffs at this point (no skill check, maybe one use per hook.) Boil Over is not balanced. It's either trash or "the killer can't do anything other than bleed me out because I brought a perk," dependent on how scummy you're willing to play.

You can read "You" as "Someone". Not you specifically.

And well, my empathy might be quite low for Killer players currently, because of the constant complaints and hypocrisy. (And use of unfun playstyles.)

You can just say - Boil Over is a strategy. How about that?

Boil Over might be the first Perk which actually hinders the Killer in a way that they cannot make BPs. Obviously, still more than a Survivor getting facecamped, but usually only Killer players are able to ruin the others experience by not letting them play. The worst thing Survivors were able to do is being annoying. But they cannot really hinder the Killer player to get points or to win.

But now with Boil Over there is a big outcry (which will go down soon, since not many players will run Boil Over anymore after it loses the "new"-feeling) - because suddenly a killer player might not be able to get Hooks. So maybe Killer Mains will stop parroting "It is a strategy" to highly unfun playstyles. Because it is equally a strategy to play Boil Over and spam Map Offerings which benefit the Perk.

    Hypocrisy.

  • Cosmetics, still waiting for a Yui-Cosmetic which I like. I usually buy Chapters with money (the only recent exception was Mikaela). And the next two Chapters will probably be licensed (Ringu is confirmed and I would be very surprised if the Anniversary Chapter will be original), so I would not really get to spend my Shards on Characters anytime soon.

  • @Laluzi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2773614#Comment_2773614

Ah yes, because "the meta is stale and arguably too powerful" means "we should have busted perks that can make it literally impossible to do anything other than stalemate people to death if the players using them don't play normally and keep cheesing them."

These two issues are apples and oranges. One is that normal gameplay is dominated by a small set of very powerful multi-use perks, the other is that troll gameplay is currently way too easy and effective.

    You cant have both.

You cannot really complain about Survivors running the same Perks and complain that Survivors are running different Perks at the same time. This just boils down to "Survivors are not allowed to have anything else than useless Meme-Perks".

  • No, and at this point, it is out of spite.

Really, FNAF-Fans are so annoying. I remember the Hellraiser-Chapter, all clues went to Hellraiser and yet, even when the teaser Trailer dropped which was crystal clear, some people still thought that Springtrap might be the next Killer.

And now players are asking for Springtrap being the annivesary Chapter, despite it being months away. And if we would not know that the next Chapter will be Ringu, they would speculate if the next Chapter will be FNAF.

I dont have anything against the game (just that it has too many parts, at some points, the concept becomes dull), but the Fanbase really is something else with their wish of having Sprintrap in DBD.

But in general, I think a mechanical Killer is still missing in the game. A full robot or an Android.

And it is the guy who has a massive winstreak on Twins who suddenly cannot stomp Survivors way below his Skill Level anymore...

  • @pseudechis said:

    You're kidding right.

Its a horror game and you don't want to be scared because some of the elements could be triggering of very specific phobias.

    I've heard it all now.

To be fair, I would not compare Phobias with "getting scared for fun", which is basically a Horrorgame. You play Horror games (or games with Horror elements) to become scared in a safe environment. When it comes to Phobias, this environment is no longer safe for the person experiencing said Phobia.

    @Topic:

This is not really possible. I mean, if players suffer from a Phobia which can be triggered by specific DBD-Killers (like Clown, Nemesis or Plague), they should decide for themselves if it is worth the risk or not. You will not be able to avoid those Killers, since it is impossible to disable those, since this would be abused. And even if it would not be abused, it would probably increase Matchmaking time.

So if a player with Phobia thinks they want to play DBD, they know what they are doing. And I think taking a break after a game against certain Killers is the better option than doing anything ingame against them.

  • Funny that you complained a few hours ago about all Survivors running the same Perks. And now they are running Boil Over and it is not correct either.

Ok thanks. That's still really good since there are possibility's to get more than one. Also I tried to pay attention to my score events but things were always going on so I didn't notice if all survivors get the 3k for gens or just the ones who finish? Have you guys noticed?

Everyone gets 3K, you dont need to sit on a Gen to finish it. (I dont know if you get 3K if you dont use an envelope tho)

And this is good, I remember events where you only got the BPs if you were actually finishing the Gen.

I enjoy it but wish you got more than the few seconds to get your envelope at beginning. I have missed out on a few because they spawned on opposite side of map and disappeared before I could get there. Finding them after is a royal pain in the ass. Highest BP I got from an envelope was 8,888 anyone get higher on one open? Really curious what the max is @MandyTalk do you know?

I got 10k in one envelope. But this was the highest one.

Being injured hasn't been a bad thing since... Oh when did they nerf healing again, patch 2.3.0 back in a October 2018? Ever since then absolutely nobody has cared for being injured because Dead Hard and Resilience and Iron Will unless you're facing an Oni or Spirit or Nurse (and most recently, a Blight).

I can't be the only one who vividly remembers the no-heal meta, can I?

No Heal-Meta was a funny time.

Killer Players rejoicing because Healing Speeds (and with those Self Care) were being nerfed, followed by "Survivors only do Gens"-Posts...
