  • The first Gens dont matter. You can expect them to be done fast, the first Gen(s) are the easiest to do.

I also dont know why you even mention Ruin and Corrupt. If they are not near a blocked Gen when they spawn, Corrupt does not matter and if you dont chase them off a Gen, Ruin does not matter.

  • Survivor is harder to rank up IMO.

As Killer you can get a Blackpip after a bad game, as Survivor it is most likely a Depip. Also Killers have a higher Chance to Double-Pip in the higher Grade-Areas (in Iri Grades you need to escape as Survivor to have a chance for a Double Pip, which can limit it a lot).

That is not at all what Peanits is saying. The situation in that post is a Doctor who isn’t even injuring survivors, they’re just shocking them over and over into Madness so they’re unable to work on gens at all. And it’s not even a real scenario in the first place, nobody got banned over it.

I found the same post which already got posted by @TAG .

And the situation would not be different if the Killer would just keep injuring the Survivors. The Survivors would have to retreat to heal and can then try to do Gens again, just for them to be chased away.

The Killer is not planning to progress the game. At some point, if the Survivors are trying to do Gens, the Killer has to commit to a Chase, even if this might mean that the Survivors complete the last Gen. But if the Killer decides to only protect the Gens, the game will never end. And you cannot really say "The Killer is just defending Gens", otherwise you would also have to say "The Survivor is just surviving", if two Survivors are hiding without any intention to do Gens.

Otherwise, can you explain me, what the difference is between Survivors not trying to complete Gens and a Killer not trying to kill Survivors? Both sides are not trying to win at this point (holding a 3 Gen until Christmas is also not winning...).

But, maybe @MandyTalk can give us some insight here - would a Killer hold the game hostage in this situation? Tagging you because I feel the discussion would go endless if there is no clarification.

  • Probably Blight. He does not have any really bad Add-On (aside from the brown Add-On which gives Bonus BPs, but some Killers have those). Adrenaline Vial used to be very terrible, but they buffed it and so this S-Tier Killer has another really good Add-On.

    Plague also has solid Add-Ons...

I would say that Wraith has good Add-Ons as well, most of them do the same and there are different versions of it, increasing in strength and rarity, but they are solid for the most part.

You won’t find that post because it never happened. No killer would ever be banned for defending the gens.

If survivors refuse to actually try and do the gens that’s their fault, not the killer’s. Killers aren’t holding the game hostage if the survivors are too afraid of being downed to do gens.

I have seen confirmation that you indeed can get banned for it.

Both sides are responsible to advance the gamestate. The Survivors by at least trying to complete Gens and the Killer by at least trying to kill Survivors. If a Killer is just standing in their 3-Gen, chasing away Survivors who try to do Gens and not following them, the game will never end and at this point, the Killer is holding the game hostage.

I know this forum is just WONDERFUL and Killers will NEVER be the evil guys and all Killer players are just fluffy and sadly also victims of those evil Survivors (I heard playing Survivor is the same like eating Puppies)... But Killers who dont make any effort to progress the game are also holding it hostage.

But it was also confirmed just yesterday or the day before (by Mandy) that bodyblocking a single character in a way that they can't progress the game, even though the other 3 survivors could do gens and progress to the EGC, would be considered a bannable offense. It was added that you would need to do so for several minutes, not just a short amount of time.

But still, it seems that either a) they decided that the AFK pig is okay or b) this stuff is always decided by stomach feeling of the person who answers the ticket.

In practice I think that they are both pretty similar, ie one survivor can't progress the game due to the killer blocking off their ability to do so by positioning, while the rest of the team can easily finish. So it has a little whiff of arbitrary decision making to allow one while condemning the other of they are so similar; I'll admit though that with AFK Pigs tactic there is a non-zero chance that you could affect more then one survivor, up to a 4K tpk, no matter how unlikely.

"But still, it seems that either a) they decided that the AFK pig is okay or b) this stuff is always decided by stomach feeling of the person who answers the ticket."

I cannot say anything to b), but for a), they did not say that. They indeed just said that you will not get banned.

Because, a Pig standing in front of a Box, does not really hold someone hostage. There is a difference between a Killer/Survivor blocking a Survivor in a corner and a Pig blocking one Box. The Survivor can still search other Boxes, do Gens or do Totems, the Survivor blocked in a Corner cannot do anything.

Not the most enjoyable game experience either way, but not holding someone hostage.

However, not banning does not mean they are ok with it. Worst case they nerf the Add-Ons to make it impossible to do that. And if this happens, I hope that the people who complain (and people will complain) focus their anger on those who used this "strategy", because they are the ones who might get those Add-Ons nerfed.

  • I dont think anything can be done.

It is true that it might result in the game taken hostage, either by the Survivors or the Killer. For the Survivors, if they just refuse to do Gens, for the Killer, if they refuse to progress the game (by chasing a Survivor). Both parties can hold the game hostage at this point.

But, 3 Gens happen and often enough it is because Survivors dont pay attention. And the Killer should not be at a disadvantage, just because of Hostage Situations.

IMO the only thing that can help is that BHVR eliminates Outliers and tries to do a distribution of Gens which is as equal as possible. "Funny" things like 4 or even 5 Gens on one side of Azarovs Resting Place and only 2/3 on the other side should not happen. But aside from those outliers, nothing really can or should be done IMO.

  • In general, doing Totems might actually be possible with the Icons. Because you not only see that someone is doing a Totem, but you can also see if they are doing Gens.

And this is the main reason why I dont do Totems, I cannot trust my teammates that they are actually doing Gens, but if I can see that, I might go for some Totems, because I know that someone is working on Gens.

So yeah, it might be possible.

  • It does make less sense.

I mean, I went against Otz a few days ago. And we can all agree that he has a high MMR, he will be at max MMR, there is no doubt.

One or two days afterwards, I went against Killers who were REALLY struggling. And not only with that Killer (it would be possible to be experienced, but new to the specific Killer), the general Killer gameplay felt off.

And such a jump in such a short amount of time... Does not really make sense.

  • It is not only RPD, the Hook on Thompsons House also returned. I have not played it yet, but hopefully the Hook on the scaffold on Dead Dawg Saloon did not return as well.

Upstairs-Hooks should never be a thing. I can understand that they added it as a band-aid fix for Boil Over, however, now that they actually nerfed the Perk, they should remove the band-aid fixes. Those Upstairs-Hooks are worse than Basement Hooks, because Killers can actually block them.

  • It is current Wiggle Progress, before it was just added Wiggle Progress.

    Comparison:

New Boil Over: 10% Wiggle Progress, drop-->13,33% Wiggle Progress.

Old Boil Over: 10% Wiggle Progress, drop-->35% Wiggle Progress

New Boil Over: 50% Wiggle Progress, Drop-->66,67% Wiggle Progress

Old Boil Over: 50% Wiggle Progress, Drop-->75% Wiggle Progress

So if you drop early as Killer, the Survivor will not get much value out of Boil Over. If you are carrying them already for some time, their value will be bigger.

Before, it was a static value.

  • There it is, there is the person who does think that because 33 is a bigger number than 25 that Boil Over was buffed.

It was nerfed, it is basically trash again. 33% of your current Wiggle is not much and way less than 25% overall (unless you have 75% wiggle already).

Against a camping Trapper/ Wraith/ Billy/ Nurse/ Myers/ Hag/ Doctor Huntress/ Freddy/ Pig/ Clown/ Spirit/ Legion/ Plague/ Ghostface/ Demogorgon/ Oni/ Deathslinger/ Pyramid Head/ Blight/ Twins/ Trickster/ Nemesis/ Pinhead/ Artist... i can surely borrow time trade with my teammate. The only killer that i cannot borrow time trade is Bubba. It is a Bubba problem, not a camping issue. Every other killer, i get downed and my teammate can get to the other side of the map. With Bubba, i get downed and my teammate also does everytime. His ability to go through multiple survivors in one swing makes it impossible to save.

While this is true, Hooktrading is also not really ideal at all. You basically waste time while the Killer is pressuring at least two Survivors at this point.

(And well, if I look at your list, at the very least Trickster and Plague are almost as good at camping as Bubba).

  • Hag and Trapper's ability to place traps near the hook

IMO it is fine that they can place Traps near Hooks. However, for Hag, her Traps around Hooks should disappear once the Survivor is unhooked. Because currently, you have to crouch to get away from the Hook/Traps, but she has it easier to come back. And you cannot run, because that would trigger the Traps.

Removing the Traps around a Hook would still mean that the unhooking Survivor has to crouch, but it would not turn it into a lose/lose-Situation otherwise.

    Trapper is fine IMO.

    Bubba

The problem is not Bubba, the problem is camping in general. Bubba is just one of the best Killers at it. I dont know if anything really can be done for the person on the Hook, but the others should have an increase in repair time, when one Survivor is hooked. Needs to be added carefully tho so that non-camping Killers are not punished.

The rest of your points I agree with, they all need some kind of Nerf.

  • The thing is, BHVR does not have the License to bring Sidney Prescott. Otherwise they would brought her with Ghostface.

This means, they would have to acquire the license and the License Holders probably either did not want to give it out or it was too expensive.

IF BHVR really wants to bring Sidney Prescott into the game, they would need to buy the license. So she wont be a free addition to the already existing Ghostface-DLC. This means, she would cost actual money, which also means, they would need to create 3 Perks for her. At least one of those would need to be really strong (like old MoM), to give people a reason to buy her, who are not Fans of the Scream-Franchise or completionists.

So yeah...Hopefully this will never happen.

  • Nope.

And if it does not pop up anymore, you got all 10 Rewards.

  • I think at this point, people are just wondering why one of the strongest Killers in the game gets more and more Buffs, while the few problematic things (Alchemist Ring for sure, Speed Add-Ons and Compound 33 as well IMO) are not adressed.

Seriously, people are joking about Pig getting nerfed all the time, yet we can joke about Blight getting a Buff almost every Midchapter-Patch, despite already being S-Tier. And still, every Change to Blight does not include the change to one of those Add-Ons I mentioned. And Blight-Players know how busted those are, at the very least Alchemist Ring, because they used a lot of those when the Devs announced changes to Add-Ons for Blight (which turned out to be Buffs).

Now, instead of finally nerfing stuff like above, they gave him another really good Add-On. (Not saying that Adrenaline Vial does not deserve the Buff, it was horrible before, but I can understand people at least wondering...)

And yet people find plenty of time to put boons down without any issues. I guess its only stupid and a waste of time if it doesn't give you a massive boost to survival right?

Boons at least do more than cleansing Dull Totems for a Perk the Killer might not even have.

And nope, even with Boons Survivors are stupid enough to put them either in positions where they are not helpful or waste time doing Boons while they could do something else.

  • It is not like cleansing Dull Totems was a smart thing to do anyway. Most of the time it is just wasting time instead of being productive aka doing Gens.

  • A Survivor ran into my Chainsaw when playing as Billy. Was way before Lethal Pursuer was released, was like 10 seconds after the match started.

  • @Brimp said:

Well in theory this shouldn't be a problem but dbd players can be quite.... slow. It's as simple as the person who hasnt been hooked yet to get down by the killer then hooked or left to crawl out, either way if they get hooked or downed it effectively extends the egc as a downed or hooked person causes the egc to be extended. Then use that time to find noed or wait out the 2nd door.

This implies that the Killer is stupid enough to down someone.

    @Topic:

I have played against a build like this (in fact, I was in the Twins-game in Otzdarvas video) and it was not really enjoyable. While I think the idea is somewhat unique, it turns the game into a problematic state in some occasions, since maximizing one aspect (in this example - slowing down the time to open Gates) can make it too much.

I would agree that a potential fix would be to disable No Way Out if the Killer opens a Gate. This would still leave the Perk in a decent spot, but would avoid situations like this.

In the game on RPD I was opening the gate and I knew that it was impossible to do once I saw Remember Me pop up. And I basically beelined to the other Gate once I was unhooked. Gate was open around 1 second after the EGC-Timer ran out.

  • Yeah. Would be nice, running to a Boon to heal just to see it is Exponential is not really good.

In general, Hexes and Boons should have different Colors for the respective player. So Killers should know which Hex-Totem is which Hex and Survivors should know which Boon-Perks are in a Boon-Totem (from a distance).

Pig does actually have to do something. Pretend to be AFK and risk getting false-reported.

    1. It's a ultra rare add-on.
    2. t's not a good strategy. RNG favours survivors. Most survivors get the hat removed after 1 box.
    3. Probably the only reason you're seeing more Pig matches is due to the Saw tome. She's such a joke that people expect you to play for boops and don't take her seriously
    1. It was a yellow Add-On before, so some people have tons of them.
    2. Sure, but nobody complains that it is too strong. Like, using Boil Over and running to high places was also no good strategy, you wont win with it, but it still needed changes.
    3. No challenge can be done wiht that "strategy".

Because that's just as bad as the current system. You can get people who carry you or drag you down. I don't want my MMR being tied to the urban evading and/or hiding in the corner of the map and/or throwing a match to complete their archive survivors.

Those players actually influence your MMR already. Because you will probably not complete all Gens with them and probably not escape. The best you can hope for is a Hatch escape, but a) this will more likely go to the person hiding and b) will also only be a draw in regards to MMR.

  • @Aneurysm said:

You guys are gonna get the addon nerfed aren't ya 😓

This is what most likely might happen if too many people do stuff like that. Ruining it for every other Pig-Player who just wants to use decent Add-Ons.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/308747/can-we-ever-expect-to-see-prestige-versions-of-legendary-skins

I would like this idea but the devs said it’s too hard so they won’t. But this would be Fire

Why would it be too hard? Legendary Skins are Sets anyway, so you will never run into issues with clipping.

Personally, if I would be BHVR, I would just create one Prestige-Cosmetic for Legendary Skins, which would be a full Bloody One which is unlocked if you reach P3 with said Character. No point in wasting time to create P1 and P2, because people who prestige very rarely stop at P1 or P2.

And this would be one extra Skin per Legendary Character... I dont think this would be too hard.

    @Topic:

I would like it. I only have 1 Legendary Skin (Claire), but a P3-Version would be great.

  • IMO:

Billy, Nurse, Huntress, Freddy, Pig, Spirit, Oni, Blight... At least those are the Killers I played without Add-Ons just fine. I tried Nemesis without Add-Ons as well, he is not too bad, but not really my cup of tea after using his Mutation Rate-Add Ons since release.

  • There were several ways where you would have been able to avoid this situation.

But I agree, it is not an Anti-Tunnel-Perk since it does nothing against tunneling at all.

  • Nah, BBQ as an incentive to not camp does not work. Because Killers (not only Bubba) can still get stacks even if they camp.

The idea is nice, but the real picture is different.

  • I just got my Shards together with the daily 50k BPs. Just logged in.

  • Have to go with Freddy as well.

Not saying he was my favorite Killer before the Rework, but it was something unique going against a Freddy. The only annoying thing back then was that many Freddy-players just ran Endgame Builds with NOED, because it was harder to wake up after all Gens were done.

But after the Rework, I really began to hate Freddy. And it did not stop, even if they removed the massive Slowdown he was able to stack or if they made him a bit harder to play (not slowing down while placing Snares was a yikes). But he is still really boring to play and to go against.

I think they could have made old Freddy work with some Tweaks.

  • While I was not a fan of the buffed Boil Over, I dont think the Perk will be used at all now. (I think the 25% Wiggle Progress would also not been used after a while, because at some point it becomes boring to troll the Killer with Boil Over)

At least I may be able to get some good laughs because some people might think it got buffed because 33 is bigger than 25...

I mean sure, its OP if you don't miss. But that would imply that huntress couldn't miss. Which we all know...nobody ever hits 100% hatchets. That requires skill, and this game likes to remove skill requirements in favor of hand holding. Thus, no raising the stakes with Iri Head.

Also can we get real for a second and stop pretending every single huntress runs around with a stack of 90 iri heads as if they're bringing them to every single game...

I thought the game should be balanced around high Level play? But now people come up with "Oh yeah, Iri Head is fine, because you can miss". What a nonsense.

Iri Head drastically reduced the Skill needed to play Huntress.

And regarding your second part - Back in the day Huntress only had two Iridescent Items in her Bloodweb, Iri Head and the Ebony Mori. So you got Iri Heads pretty consistent, I also have a lot of them left, despite using them recently in hope to have a faster progress in the Skilled Huntress-Achievement.

And players who played more Killer and more Huntress than me will probably have hundreds of Iri Heads.

  • Now it just needs to look good.

  • Nah. The key is less information (aka Killer cannot see anything else than which Survivor and which Items) and not more information.

Knowing who the Killer is would just result in using counters against said Killers or straight up lobbydodging.

  • @Ryuhi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2786073#Comment_2786073

You're right. There are many things you can't control in the game. Your teammates actions might as well be the same RNG that determines hook spawns, totem placements, and anything else. I'd love if gens spawned in even spacing to prevent 3 gen setups, deadzones to never happen, etc. And likewise, I'm sure killers would love to not have scourge hooks cluster in a corner of the map, ruin to spawn in LoS of survivors, and so on. Sometimes its just not in your favor, but that doesn't mean you need a safety net for free in this one situation.

The biggest difference is that survivor behavior and tactics are caused by a person. A person who can learn from bad plays and improve. Giving them crutches rewards bad plays, so they continue to make them without needing to think "huh, maybe I should have thought that out better."

The majority of my improvement in the game has come from learning from mistakes. Brute forcing the same mistakes over and over and relying on a crutch in the process teaches nothing.

"The majority of my improvement in the game has come from learning from mistakes. Brute forcing the same mistakes over and over and relying on a crutch in the process teaches nothing."

Ah, yes. I will now learn from my mistake and avoid getting unhooked by Survivors who dont have BT. Thank you. You changed my life. If I would be able to do 10% of what you can do, I would be a better person.

Seriously, a Perk which only helps you if another person has it is a band-aid.

And BHVR at least seems to think about a solution. But as I said before, it depends what they do. E.g. if they make BT Basekit, but nerf it by reducing the Endurance, they would probably buff camping.

In the end, I am not a big fan of BT being basekit, but the thought process makes sense.

  • @Ryuhi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2786027#Comment_2786027

You literally started with "BT Basekit would actually make sense" when no, no it would not. Because its not necessary at all, which is the point of making things basekit.

TBH I should have gone into how what you're implying in the post is dangerously close to how BT was when it affected both the unhooker and the unhooked, which was rightfully nerfed.

No, not really. But thx again.

I wrote that you have no control over the Survivor who is unhooking you. So if they have BT or not.

Because you can write "its not necessary at all". Yeah, I would like others to actually have BT. And it does not matter if the Killer is actually camping or if they are just farming me.

This is something you cant control.

  • @Ryuhi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2785981#Comment_2785981

the vast majority of survivors who claim they need BT, use it solely to not be punished for bad saves. I almost never run it, yet i get saves just fine thanks to other perks like Kindred.

This was not even my point, but thx I guess.

  • The thing is, BT Basekit would actually make sense. Because BT is a band-aid for camping (something which BHVR gets criticized for a lot, when they introduce fixes via Perks). But, the Survivor on the Hook has no control over it, I can bring BT all the time, but this does not mean that the Survivor unhooking me will have it.

However, it highly depends what they will do with it. They wont give the Survivors the current BT as Basekit and dont give anything back to the Killer. They will either help Killers in a different aspect or make a watered down version of BT Basekit. The latter can actually turn out to be worse, because it might be even easier to tunnel afterwards.

Adding a secondary objective gonna be harder work, but that'd work too.

I'm just stating camping AND the time killers have is the biggest problem.

You know that a second Objective wont mean that Gens will still take 80 seconds?

  • Can confirm this. The DS-Skill Check pops up and suddenly it is replaced by the Wiggle Skill Checks.

Happened one time so far on my side since the Patch.

Yeah man I play with my cousin so ppl can’t accuse me of SWF.

    Survive with Family!!!111

  • @El_Gingero said:

They’ll never remove SWF and I agree it would probably kill the game if they did.

The only option is to bridge the gap between solo and SWF. It will be far from perfect as they don’t want to put comms in the game, so we’ll just have to take what we get and try to improve it over time.

Comms are overrated. The true strength of SWF is that you are able to filter out Potato-Teammates. With a 4 man SWF, you wont need to worry about the Claudette crouching in a Corner or the David farming you without BT for his WGLF-Stacks.

That being said, adding Comms to the game (while having big disadvantages), would not solve that. I can tell this Claudette that I am being chased, this does not mean that she will leave her Corner. I can tell David that he should ######### off after unhooking me without BT, does not prevent him from doing that again.

  • The reaction (DCing and the Postgame Chat) is extreme. However, if players would let others actually reveal their own Envelopes, this would be even more BPs for everyone.

So there is a difference between grabbing an envelope and waiting until it is revealed.

  • I dont think this would be possible, since Samara belongs to "The Ring", while Sadako belongs to Ringu. The License Holders are different, so in order to get a Samara-Skin for Sadako, this would mean that BHVR would aquire another license (for Samara) AND the original License Holder (for Ringu) needs to be ok with Sadako being changed into a different license.

    Not very likely.

  • Best: Stranger Things, brought somewhat decent Perks for both sides and a cool Killer to play and play against.

Worst: Ash vs Evil Dead, surprised nobody mentioned it. After nerfing MoM, the DLC has nothing except for a Survivor-Skin with some of the worst Survivor Perks in the game.

  • Yes, this was changed with the release of Boon-Totems. They buffed the time it takes to cleanse/bless Totems. So they buffed and nerfed it in the same Patch.

  • I agree that the difficulty of Nurse is really overrated. It is not that hard to learn her in a way that you win most of the time. Not saying it is easy to master her, but you dont need to master a Killer to get more wins than losses.

But I would say that Nurse is still harder than Blight. The thing with Blight is, if you want, you can only use his Power for Mobility and do chases without any Rushing. Not the best way to play him, but it would be more successful than playing Nurse in the same way, because with Nurse, you totally need to use Blinks to get hits.

However, I would say that Blight is more frustrating to play. With Nurse, when I mess up a Blink, this is entirely on me. Stuff like not predicting the Survivor or slightly looking down to end up in the Basement can happen rarely, but this is on me.

With Blight, not being able to rush into things and sliding off on the other hand is really frustrating.

1 … 140 141 142 143 144 … 341
