    Are they frickin kidding me??

"I am playing as a killer. What changes will I notice with the new matchmaking system?
As a killer, the noticeable difference is that you will see all four survivors appear almost simultaneously in the online lobby."

So the Devs now cover up all SWF groups to avoid dodging?
No way to prepre myself and equip some Moris?
Just another step to shove SWF down our throat?

Where is the nerf to SWF to balance that out?
Every time killer get something, the survivor get something to balance that out, but not the other way round.
    Crap doublestandards.

My guess… they intentionally screwed up the killer queues for the last couple of weeks, so that we are now glad to get faster lobbies.

Double standards? I’m sorry, who got all the buffs since clown release?

It’s intended to help matchmaking, not “shoving” anything “down your throat.” Most games have no indication that people join together, because a lot of matchmaking takes place outside the lobby.

Also, intentionally screwing up killer lobbies? For real? That’s just delusional.
  • Ffs, if I never hear the term “straw man” again for as long as I live, I can die happy.

Half of if you don’t even know what it means. You just throw the term out when someone has you cornered.

  • I haven't had it quite that bad on Xbox, but I've had a few pretty nasty messages too. I got called the "C" word for facecamping a survivor when two of them held the game hostage for 10 minutes after the gates were open. I also had a killer message me before another game started to tell me he wanted to kill and eat my dogs (they are in my profile pic.) People are messed up.

  • They were releasing every Tuesday/Wednesday over the summer. But I don't think they have enough content in the game files to have weekly releases right now.

  • If they added it, they could add the option to toggle off comms. That way the people that want to can, but the people who don't want to talk/listen to children all match could mute.

I used to hate listening to people on Left 4 Dead. But because I'm on console, I could just open up a party and sit in there by myself, lol. That took priority over in-game chat, so I couldn't hear anybody.

Ive been hearing "optimization" for years now and Ive seen hardly any difference. In fact, they even introduced maps where the fps were even worse than on the beginner ones (lerys for example)

For years? It hasn’t even been a year and a half since the game came out on console.

I’m hopeful about it because some improvement is better than nothing, but I won’t be holding my breath for a miracle.
  • I do. I’ve avoided NOED many times by making sure I get all the totems between doing other objectives.

Does anyone know if the halloween cosmetics will still be available for purchase with Auric Cells after the event is over? Has BHVR commented on this?

Yes, they will be in the official cosmetics store forever (auric cells only, no iredescent shards.)

  • As a person who tends to get farmed by potato teammates, this is the most frustrating thing. When you play killer, please keep in mind that most survivors are not going to be okay with being unhooked right away, especially without BT. Getting tunneled is so frustrating in those instances, because the person who should really be punished (the unhooker) usually gets away with it. I know it's not the killers fault that someone got farmed, but it's not the unhooked person's fault, either. I just wish more killers would go after the savior instead.

When I play killer, I will usually down the hooked person again to make sure the farmer doesn't get their safe unhook points/emblem. Then I'll leave them on the ground to get picked up while I hunt down the unhooker. It's so frustrating to be in the position of the person getting unhooked, I try to keep that in mind as often as possible.

  • I’m a survivor main and I don’t mind the format. The only thing I dislike is that it will be hard to farm BP when my vials are full.
  • A lot of us are also concerned about what survivors can do to earn the bonus bloodpoints after everyone has all their vials. With past events having the special gens, you could endlessly keep farming BP until the event was done, as long as you had offerings to burn. But with this mechanism, when you’re done, you’re done. You can’t participate anymore. And that’s a shame. Please consider making it so that survivors can still help harvest nectar after they’ve completed their goal, even if they don’t actually get any more real vials out of it.
  • I would allready be fine with the event if you could Unlock 2 skins with playtime but this is kind of a bummer

That’s kind of what I’m thinking. I will happily buy the rest with cash, but I think being able to earn 6 pieces of the possible 21 would have been a good balance.
  • Stream. They're doing an "event showcase". It's in the monthly roadmap somewhere around here :-)

    Edit: Here is the roadmap

  • Foregoing self-care is actually extremely liberating. I've been loving using bond instead. But sometimes when I'm playing solo, I need to put it back on. I seem to always run into a string of games where nobody wants to heal each other, which is a shame.

But yeah, my SWF buddy and I never bring it anymore when we play together.

  • Most of the time the survivors are camping the hook at the endgame, too. Which should negate most of the emblem loss. It shouldn't be enough to make a difference at that point.

You also have to think that if your game went that poorly, you probably won't pip anyway. So at that point just secure your kill and get the extra bloodpoints and don't stress about the rank.

  • It seems to be more of a problem on PC than console. I have not had any issues on XBox, but all the PC streamers I watch are having a hard time with lobby wait times as killer too.

  • I actually loved the Halloween menu theme from last year. I hope it comes back for the event.

@RuneStarr and I also love the Christmas one too. So I hope that one returns in December, as well.

  • It looks like they are bringing back the spooky medkits and flashlights. Which is awesome news for me, because this time last year was when I started playing. All of my survivors have since been prestiged at least once, so I don't have any of those items left. Now I can save them.

  • @TheDarkLycan said:
atleat y'all can just sabotage every hook on the map super easy now

Ain't nobody got time for that. I understand that some survivors like to just walk around sabo'ing everything instead of doing anything else, but I hate getting teammates like that. It's like, work on an effing gen you loser.

  • @HellDescent said:
There are 3 types of vaults right now, which makes a lot more sense then before

There were always 3 types of vaults. They just changed the clearance to make it more sensible.

That said, I haven't noticed any feeling of "nerf" yet while playing. So I don't think much really changed when all is said and done.

  • @Madjura said:

There was almost certainly a vault or a hole at some point in development, the "fence" around the top has at least one spot that looks like it used to be open. The reason there isn't a way to get down other than the stairs currently is that it would make the top of the building extremely safe for survivors. Once you hear the terror radius you can just jump down and run. Most likely would become an extremely cancerous loop spot if you just immediately run up the stairs to the hole again and there are lots of pallets around the house.

If you don't want to get hooked up there then don't go near the house. The path to the hook is long enough that it's not possible to reach the hook unless you are downed inside or right outside the house, unless the killer is using Iron Grasp + Agitation or something.

Valid point. And I hear you. We shouldn't be creating more toxic looping areas. But there are a vast number of us who never abused the exploit of running up to the corner to avoid a hook in the first place. Fixing something that's unbalanced by unbalancing it in the other direction isn't really a fix.

If there was more than one way out from the top, it would balance it back out. Even if it's just another entrance to the same single staircase. Just to avoid anybody body blocking the only way in/out. That goes for survivors and killers.

  • Dudddd said:
Developers had a brain aneurysm , instead of just adding an open route so killers could jump off they did this .
I think a drop off would have been better too. Or at least adding another staircase if doing the top floor hook. Having only one way in/out of the hook is supposed to be a basement only concept. Takes away from the power of the basement if killers can just guard stairs here instead.
  • @DocOctober I think it's funny that you hate my tone so much when I have consistently been one of the people who was more polite about my doubts, and even apologized for offending you off the bat. I had said "we know how reliable the Wiki is" in regards to the September 11th release date speculation, meaning it as a joke. At the time, I didn't know anybody running the Wiki would see it. Had I known that, I wouldn't have posted it. Because whether I feel that way or not, it's rude to throw it in someone's face.

That said, I never relied on the 9/11 release date. Because I was waiting for dev confirmation. So I wasn't upset at you for it being wrong, because nothing had officially been announced. Take that as you will. But a lot of others felt misled, and the devs got blamed. Which wasn't very fair, either.

Like I said before, I get that you dedicate your time to updating the Wiki. But you got so mad at anyone who had any questions, it felt like you just wanted gratitude with no questions asked. Which, to me, is not what volunteering is about, in any sense of the word.

But okay. You can still be mad at me. Can't stop you.

  • Does anyone know if we get to keep them, just not use them? Like event offerings? Would like to keep them on my collection.
  • I would've assumed data mining if it wasn't posted so early in advance...

I dunno, I'm skeptical, ever since that whole release date fiasco. People were furious, so I think it's irresponsible to post information like that without their source being crystal clear.

I feel the same way. But the guy who runs the wiki is a regular on these forums and he got really upset when we questioned anything about the source of the information. I tried to explain that things have been wrong before so we’re just trying to be on the safe side, but he was pretty miffed.
  • I love it but I don’t understand the use of Brady Bunch for Hillbilly lol
  • Lost an escape cake yesterday because the killer decided he didn’t like the map we got sent to. I agree, you should be able to keep your stuff if people DC.
  • Wraith
    Huntress
    Billy
    Trapper
    Doctor
  • If you survive you pip.

No thank you. I get enough immersion warrior teammates who cower and let everyone else do all the work. This would only encourage selfish play. And yes, this is Rank 1.
  • @DocOctober said:
As I said, by now, you go can look for it yourself.

I may appreciate the praise, but I severely disliked the tone that was used to question my sources.

I apologized for the misunderstanding. I can't speak for anyone else. But I urge you to not punish your supporters because of a couple people having doubts. I don't tend to follow the Wiki, so you would not be punishing me as much as the people who do.

  • @DocOctober said:

Quite frankly, at this point I'm so pissed off that I'll just let you wait on the official dev word or you can go look for yourself for the information. It's there, good luck, have fun.

Because people aren't seeing the information you put in the Wiki and have questions about it?

The few of us who questioned you apologized sincerely and explained where our doubts were coming from. We also thanked you for your time, as did a lot of people on this thread. We didn't call you names or accuse you of lying or anything. We just had questions about the legitimacy of the information. Like I said before, it's natural to not believe everything you read on the Internet.

There doesn't seem to be anything we can say to make you feel appreciated or help you understand where we're coming from. So if you choose to continue being angry, I guess that's up to you.

  • Just because YOU can't find it since you can't decode stuff, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Everything's on the Wiki.

You people go on my nerves. I spent 2.5 hours last night compiling all the information together into a clean, proper Wiki Article and you ingrates just keep on bitching about where I got the information from.

You have to understand that we don’t know you from the next guy on the forums. People don’t tend to trust what they read on the Internet just because someone says it’s true, and rightly so.

As as far as the work you put in, that was nice of you. Thank you. But...you also chose to do it. It’s something you did in your free time. Nobody made you. So yelling at us for asking questions is a little overboard.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to offend. Thank you for the work you do. I was mostly joking about how lots of folks were pretty mad at the Wiki on September 11th when the spirit didn’t release. I was not one of them. Because I was waiting for dev confirmation before I got my hopes up.

  • That would be cool, but I’ve had the HUD bug where I can’t see skill checks. And you can get around that with gen tapping or heal tapping, but for a continuous action that you can’t stop (snapping out of madness, removing RBT, etc) it’s a nightmare lol. If the skill check noises actually gave any indication of where it was going to land on the circle it would be okay. But otherwise it’s just a guessing game.

But yes, I agree that there could be a mode where you can’t see your teammates’ auras or icons or something. Or progress on something. Would be an interesting challenge.

it is, when survivors are playing to escape as quickly as possible, it becomes almost impossible for the killer to win, marth88 proved this but people just brush it off because it proves them wrong.

But if those people and Marth88 are only 5% of the survivors you face, I fail to understand the problem. I think it's pretty reasonable to assert that these 5% of survivors are perhaps just better at the game. And before you get on me, I'm not trying to insult you. If I survive about 50% of the time, that means 50% of the killers I go against are better than me. And I don't mind that. Because that's the baseline average according to the devs.

@yeet I literally don't understand you. You spend this entire thread complaining about how hard it is to be killer, but then you turn around and say you "win" (3K or 4K) 95% of the time.

You said I'm "not very good at the game" because I only survive 50% of the time at Rank 1, but then you claim that only 5% of high ranks surviving is normal for you. But somehow that's still too much? At this point you've literally got to be trolling.

Btw, I never claimed to be good at the game. I am extraordinarily mediocre. Like apparently 95% of the survivors you face. So don't expect me to get up in arms about you trying to insult me.

I am a 4.5k hour nurse main, not to toot my own horn but I am reasonably good, of course you're average joe survivor isn't going to be able to beat me, especially not with how east rank 1 is these days

But didn't you say the game is unbalanced in favor of survivors?

Holy crap, there’s less whining and crying at a daycare. I honestly am shocked every time I come here and see people complaining about literally every aspect of the game.

Balance is coming in bite sized pieces. Both killers and survivors have had both nerfs and buffs, and then some things are adjusted accordingly to balance things out as much as possible.

But there are so many of you who will clearly never be satisfied. Not until you’re a rank 1 killer playing against a rank 20 survivor team. Because that’s what some of you are basically implying. This game is extremely competitive. So step up your game and meet the challenge. Because it’s not as impossible as some of you insist on believing.

Inb4 someone comes at me about defending D-Strike. I don’t even use it and I couldn’t give two steaming turds about it. Change it all you want. But then there will just be something else to complain about.

    "This game is extremely competitive."

this game is uber casual my dude, especially the survivor side

If it were casual, people wouldn’t get so butt hurt by BM behaviors like teabagging and face camping.

And no. Survivor is not casual. Have you ever been a Rank 1 survivor against good Rank 1 killers? Everyone seems to have this image of all survivors being Gods. But the vast majority of the people at rank 1 are only there because of play time. I only survive about 50% of the time. Which I’m fine with, btw, because the devs said that’s what the baseline should be.

I have a friend who is literally one of the friendliest people ever. He never had a ban for 7+ years on xbox. He played dbd a few months back and he got reported by angry salty players that many times he got put in needs work and was given a coms ban even though he didn't even use a mic then.

Reporting systems tend to be the more you ######### the more chance you will be heard.

Comms bans aren't just for mics. In fact, most people on XBox who get comms-banned sent simple "text" messages that were deemed offensive. To put it clearly, you need to avoid swearing, calling people names, harassment, death threats, etc. Basically if it's something you wouldn't say in front of your grandmother, it's probably something Microsoft will flag.

  • I tried to pick that Haddonfield one up so many times when I first started playing lol. Didn’t realize it was an Easter egg at first.

But the temptation is always there still. That toolbox has got to be God tier. I want it.
  • What does the hotfix fix. Can someone tell me or link me to where it says it.
There’s a folder for patch notes on the main page of these forums too, for future reference :-)
