I had to type in the address from the video that the presenter copied. It is as follows:

I typed it all in and it sent me to the page. Every time I clicked on it, I would end up on the screen you posted above. I hope this helps!

This worked, however, you typed “stream” instead of “steam” 😉 Once I changed the spelling it worked first time I plugged the link:

Thank you for pointing us in the right direction! Still wouldn’t have figured out the workaround without you!

  • Game has had hanging load twice tonight and has crashed (dashboarded) twice. Out of like 10 matches, with long wait times (5-10 min) on top. About to shut it down and call it until fixed.

If you're on PC, can you grab your logs for me if you do happen to crash again?

    1. Press Windows Key + R to bring up "Run".

    3. The file called "DeadByDaylight.log" is your log file. Please attach it in your reply.

We wasted our time. We'll have to do it again when they finally load them in.

Yeah, the achievements loaded in for me yesterday. It didn't count. Poo.

  • Double pipped as blight and didn’t get mine either (also Xbox.) The new achievements are not listed on Xbox yet. Do they usually unlock retroactively once they pop into the list? Or did we waste our time?

  • @Freki said:

did you submit a ticket when it happened? did you just run across a video online so you believe it's 100% true when you never saw it in person? did you report it in the bug issues forum here? did you submit your logs for the match?

you do realize that there is a cross play option for the microsoft store because they are allowing the game to be downloaded on pc when you have it on XBOX (but it isn't the xbox that is playing it but their pc) this allows them to appear as cross playing. yet they are still on pc to pc gaming.

I wish people would stop reporting bugs to the general forum and whining about things when they won't take the steps to report here. Why? because it clogs these boards and diverts them from their original intent.

    “Clogs the boards”

Because they’re not already clogged with the same 5 complaints over and over, or anything...

Also why is everyone suddenly giving the third degree and demanding irrefutable proof? Yikes. It’s not some dude claiming he knows what the new killer is but doesn’t have anything to back up the claim. It’s not even someone trying to start a witch hunt. Just a player who is trying to spread/gather more info about something that has been popping up in forums and DBD social media a lot the past couple weeks. I think it’s important to pay attention to

But sure, if we want to go back to crying about NOED and SWF for the 28th time today that’s okay too.

I played a game with a similar option for multiplayer matches a while back but I can't remember what it was now. If you had a 4 man team and 3 voted to end it would but if it was 50/50 the match went on.

    Left 4 Dead had it!

  • Maybe an option to vote to cancel the match? Would have to be unanimous from both sides, and can only be called once within a 15 second window of the DC or something. Otherwise people would just call a vote when they start losing.

  • @mmain said:

I got my kid hooked on this game a few months ago. We both play on PS4. As of the moment I type this we have both been waiting on a match for over 30 minutes. At this point the new RE Resistance can't come quick enough. It's a shame the first multiplayer game I ever really enjoyed is becoming useless to me as the time waiting in a lobby for a match is starting to be 3 or 4 times the amount of time actually spent playing in one.

It ebbs and flows honestly. Like it will be instant for a month, then the next month takes forever. Rank reset is in a few days and that should help a smidge.

(it wasn't me but thanks for telling me) i feel like if it is bugged then they should put out a hotfix asap and give everyone a free 5 levels (and maybe if they can track who completed the 2.1 tome already then they could just give it to the people who completed 2.1)

I would hope so. I know the Bronze challenge is also bugged for some people (myself included.)

I did edit my comment above to include the link to the post I referenced, if you'd like to piggyback it.

  • I saw someone mention this in the "Bug Report - Other" section here. Not sure if it was you. But they were saying the same, that after completing Tome 2.1, they have not been able to earn any additional Rift points. I'm guessing it's bugged because if it's not, there's no possible way to complete the Rift.

Going off the last public information they stated (that I know of).

They aim for games to generally end with 2 survivors living and two survivors dieing.

I feel like BHVR needs to more address the feeling that letting survivors escape does to the killer. I mean you are the killer. It sucks and feels bad when anyone escapes. You're supposed to be this terrible monster. Yet the game is designed around having at least half of your prey escape. There needs to be more ways to communicate to killers in game that it's alright to let one or two people escape.

    No. You guys aren't understanding.

They're not aiming for 50/50 as the goal. They are aiming for a 50/50 average to balance.

That means you may 4K some games and 0K some other games. You may escape 2 games in a row and then die 2 games in a row. It's literally saying that they're trying to balance the "win" average right down the middle of both sides.

As for all of you saying you can't pip with a 2K, you're not supposed to. I know the ranking system isn't perfect, but @Peanits and other devs have said multiple times that pipping should only be a result of performing over the baseline. If you 4K, you are performing better than your opponents, and you are (theoretically) playing at a higher skill (rank) than them. Ergo, you rank up, and they (theoretically) derank.

Pips are not supposed to be just handed out like free samples. They are meant to represent (again, theoretically) where you belong in the game, skill wise. In a perfect mathematical scenario, your rank is meant to put you in that place where you honestly have a 50% kill/survival average. That means you are playing with opponents that match your skill level. Balancing to anything less/more is literally asking one side to be okay with losing a majority of their games.

All that being said, most of the stats show that killers perform at a 60-70% kill average. So it's still higher than that baseline. And honestly, I'm so sick of seeing everyone in this community (on both sides) complaining about balance. You're supposed to be having fun. And if you're not having fun, then honestly, just move onto something else. Because the negativity is suffocating.

  • Feng had a huge stretch too. She got her sci fi collection August 15th 2018, then a Christmas sweater (that everyone got), then her lunar event cosmetic (which I don’t really count,) then finally ballerina Feng in like, May. It was rough. And I think the only one we’ve gotten since then is the weird headphones one.

I know they are trying to bear in mind free characters vs dlc, and that some characters are played far more often, but I do wish the cosmetic distribution was a little better.

  • Agreed as well. I play about 1.5 to 2 hours per night, and even with completing every Tome challenge, I only hit Level 70 like a week ago. My husband also completed every Tome challenge but played a little less between Tome levels, and still ended up needing to buy Rift tiers last night to get to 70.

I understand that they're trying to factor in "down time" between Tome levels and time taken to complete additive challenges, but it needs to be adjusted. Completing every Tome challenge alone should be enough to get you into the endzone.

I think they could probably solve the problem by increasing lore-unlock challenges to 6 RF. That should cover some of the difference.

  • The 4 pallet stuns in one trial. Literally took hours. Killers respecting pallets too much lately :-(

  • @HellDescent said:

Nope. Also them counting rift progress before it was even out was just a marketing tactic. The following rift will take a few weeks longer to complete then this one

I mean, it wasn’t really a marketing tactic. It was because it released late so they had some kind of formula to give you a week’s worth of progress based on your play time. I only started at tier 6, myself.

I will buy it again. I really enjoy having other achievement type objectives in the game. I also love cosmetics. But some things most definitely need tweaking. Some of the challenges are just infuriating because they often rely on decisions other people make. It wouldn’t be so bad if they weren’t also “single trial” on top of it. Either make it additive, or make it something I actually have control over where I don’t have to hope the stars align.

Also the time invested. We need the tome challenges to be worth more rift points, I think. Because as it stands, they only add up to like Tier 45 or something, right? I think completing all the challenges should get you closer to the end of the track, ergo, worth more Rift Points. That would help alleviate the issue of people worrying whether they’ll complete it in time, because they’ll be able to predict it better on the basis of getting challenges done.

Yeah, agreed. Halloween and Christmas are the important ones. We’re not asking for, like, a Good Friday event or anything.

  • @not_Queen @PatBrutal @Peanits Please read the feedback in this thread and take under consideration. I know it’s probably a done deal this year, but please keep in mind for the future how special this small event has been to many of us.

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller It’s also after the holidays which defeats the purpose of holiday celebration, and is when most people are returning to work.

They’ll probably just remove the rank limits on matchmaking and everyone will play with everyone.

Honestly they need to combine a few of their different systems of the past couple years. When the Emblem system was first introduced, it was too difficult to rank up. Then they eased it a bit. Then they made it harder for Survivors to rank up. Then they changed that and made it harder for Killers to rank up.

I think they need to make them both equally hard to rank up, but introduce a "time played" element that factors into the math. Red Ranks don't always represent expert skill, but if they play more than lower ranks, then most of them will play better in theory (and then there's me--I once had a killer tell me I was a prime example of how Survivors rank up too easily. And he was not wrong. But I play a lot so I naturally rank up as I go.)

And this new rank reset protocol is odd to me. Why even have a rank reset at this point if you're only going to go down a couple ranks? Part of the purpose of rank reset was to improve matchmaking for brand new players. I think rank reset also needs to follow some kind of algorithm. Like looking at the individual players' stats, how often they pipped and escaped/4Ked, how much time was played on average, etc. I'm sure that math is incredibly complicated to implement, but I think the information is very pertinent.

Not gonna lie, I was really sad to hear there was no event.

Events in games, at least for me, kinda fill me with that holiday spirit, ya know?

Like it's all snowy outside, christmas movies are on repeat, you're drinking cocoa, and there is a winter event in your favorite game. That's the good stuff.

So no event really bummed me out. Feels like I got coal in my stocking :(

I think you really hit the nail on the head. That’s exactly how I feel about Christmas events too.

  • I feel like it’s disproportionately tipping the scales to purple and red ranks. It’s going to make it really hard for new players to find games—even harder than before.

  • I’m actually really bummed. It’s such a simple “event” but it was special for a lot of us. Something small to encompass the Christmas spirit.

I understand them focusing on game health and stuff, but small events (even just asset ones) are important for keeping people interested, too. You have to find the happy medium.

  • Post this in forum feedback or bug reports. I did that earlier too.

  • I got kind of lucky with mine. First, it was on Hawkins, which usually means they don’t find all the dull totems before NOED procs. Second, I downed someone a split second before the last gen finished. I knew there was a Bill who had been running up behind me to get the flashlight save. So I turned around and NOEDed him, hooked them both. They were both DOH so I didn’t have to worry about either getting saved.

  • @BaldursGate2 said:

... trading? Not with other players, but trading addons / items with other of your survivors and items with your killers. Or trade in your addons you don't need for bloodpoints or other addons you want.

As example, the only good addons for ghostface are his night shroud recovery. When they are gone, you have only trash left. There is no reason, not to have this in game. Who wants to level up a killer, that has all perks available, but missing the only addons that are worth using?

I remember HybridPanda had a good idea to address that while also providing additional objectives. He said there should be a crafting bench at the back of every basement where you can take some-odd amount of time breaking down an item to recraft it into something better. I think that would be interesting, and quite possibly could help with slowing down gen speed.

  • Rank is the reflection of your personal skill/time played. The process of putting players together for a game is called matchmaking. Not trying to be rude, just trying to be helpful with terminology :-)

That said, both are pretty effed up atm.

  • @SilentSpectre said:

Unless the event comes after Christmas like last time, I doubt it.

It didn’t come after, just the 2x BP part, which is always the week between Christmas and NY.

  • @The_Second_Coming said:

I thought the devs were putting a hold on events to fix the "game health"? I could have sworn I heard that.

That was meant to refer to events that involve new objectives/mechanics (like Lunar event or Hallowed Blight 2018). Those ones take a lot more commitment for design and coding. The Solstice “event” is just cosmetic menu/in-game decorations and bonus mystery boxes (that look like presents) in the Blood Web. Also winter firecrackers. They could probably just copy and paste from last year. I don’t think it involves much as far as the team’s time commitment.

  • @Eleghost said:

they have stated that events will be tied to the rift (if they are doing one and it will be on the free track). As far as in-game events they said that events take a ton of resources to create and they would rather spend the resources on game health (bug fixes, optimization, etc), and that for events they will more than likely just reuse old offerings, or have double blood points.

Right. But a copy/paste of the solstices from the past two years wouldn’t be too time consuming I’d imagine. It was really just bloodweb bonuses and winter decor. It’s simple but it’s nice to hear the holiday theme on a snowy menu. And yeah double BP the week between Christmas and New Year’s or whatever.

  • I'm wondering that as well.

@Peanits @not_Queen please say it ain't so. I want snow and bloodweb presents :(

  • Supposedly sweaters will be today, Elf Dwight/Reindeer Huntress will be next week.

I was like 90% sure you could get hallowed at any time, sorry if i was wrong.

You can get Hallowed Blight at any time. I'm not really sure what @Fibijean means? Maybe that you can only unlock them through gameplay for a limited time? But the Rift is the same way, in that regard. Once the Rift closes, those cosmetics can no longer be earned for free (or for what comes out to be a pretty reduced price of 1000 AC in the case of the Premium track.)

  • @RainbowPatooie said:

That would be nice. In the meantime, just look at the rift and try to rememebr which ones are on it.

That’s what I’ve been trying to do but it’s hard to make out the details of some because of the thick af mist lol

  • @Fibijean said:

That would be cool, except it would also be meaningless after a while because the Rift rewards aren't actually exclusive (with the exception of the charms) and are going to appear in the Store at some point in the future anyway.

True, but the same could be said for the event cosmetics. I’m okay with rift-born cosmetics being a different color when they show up in the store. It will help new people or non-rift players identify what they missed out on.

  • The issue is that the casuals will want to earn rift fragments too if they plan on getting through the whole thing and repurchasing the next premium rift. But a bloodpoint bonus is a good idea. It would have to be pretty significant though depending on the disparity in difficulty.

And maybe they could incentivize it further by doing a leaderboard or something at the end of every rift, acknowledging all the players who made it through every tome tier of the rift season via the hardest path.

  • Here’s the announcement from the devs in case you missed it.

Edit: The link feature never works right on mobile. Sorry. Here you go:

So then using that logic is it okay for a killer to DC during the loading screen if they suspect it's a SWF group or they saw a key? Keys and SWF squads can lead "to a way less enjoyable game for them."

I mean, they do. Frequently. Not always during loading, but they'll dodge the lobby. But yeah, last-second flashlight switches used to result in a lot of DCs. Haddonfield and Coldwind offerings make killers DC all the time.

Also, your motivation for using Moris may be more wholesome, but I know killers who bring Moris for me specifically just because I used D-Strike on them once, or ran them around the whole match or something. I know this because they'll actually tell me I'm on their hit list. And before you ask whether I'm toxic, I'm not. I don't believe in doing the flashlight clicking or teabagging. I'm not even super great at the game. I'm average at best. Yet I can't tell you how many times I've been Mori spammed over nothing. In my experience, Moris are more often than not used to BM.

I enjoy the concept behind Moris, but I do think they need to be re-balanced at this stage in the game.

  • @knell said:

My primary point is that nobody in this situation is entitled to anything. Nobody is entitled to receiving an exclusive, and nobody is entitled to keeping their exclusives to themselves. It's up to the devs and they've made up their minds and addressed the individual "what about"s and "what ifs". There's just no need to keep creating dozens of threads as if one of you is going to post the one thread that will magically change their decision. They've touched on all of the angles and the subject should just be dropped.

Can you explain to me why some people who worked for the Legacy cosmetics should continue to have them, and why some people who worked for them in the same exact manner shouldn't have them? And more importantly, can you point me in the direction where Behaviour has specifically addressed this issue?

The reason why I created this particular thread is because I personally felt that Behaviour's explanation about this particular cosmetic was a bit unsatisfactory in my opinion, and was hoping that they would expand on how they reached that particular decision.

It's hard to skip over when people keep crying over actual free stuff or having to share (not you, in this case.) So many people just honestly sound like a bunch of children. Devs are doing something nice and not looking for a profit. I just feel like it should be thanked, but the angry mobs are louder than the grateful voices right now.

Did my thread come of as childish or angry? (Granted, it probably doesn't sound 'grateful' either, but that's probably because I don't have much interest in cosmetics overall.) My only concerns were with players who had 'earned' the cosmetics and still have not received them after many years. To me, there is a better way for a professional company to address that particular issue.

They don't have a great way to track lost Legacy, unfortunately. I'm sure if they are able to figure it out someday, they will be more than willing to solve the issue. I, for one, hope that they do. I feel bad for folks who earned Legacy pieces and lost them in progress bugs. I definitely agree with you on that one.

As for you coming off as childish, you really didn't. I do apologize for jumping on the post. Yours was more reasonable than a lot of other ones. I'm just feeling so frustrated about lots of folks being ungrateful.

Peanits and not_Queen made an addendum to the Dev Update post and were around the forums answering a lot of questions and concerns today with a little more elaboration. Here's the added part from the Dev Update.

    Why unlock the event cosmetics?

Unfortunately the way these event cosmetics were stored made it possible for certain players to lose them at random. They would need to be returned manually, but doing so ran the risk of causing further loss of progress.

Why are these cosmetics not in the list?

    BLOODLETTING

Bloodletting was a promotion for ordering items on our first merchandise store (the old one) for a limited period of time. Since players payed for it, we do not want to unlock the Bloodletting shirt for all.

    LEGACY

Unless we are able to identify every player that lost legacy, it will not come back. At the moment, we are still unable to identify the players that lost their legacy, therefore, we are not refunding or unlocking legacy.

    TWITCH / KINGKONGTV / PANDATV

As per our arrangement with these partners, we cannot distribute the cosmetics to all players.

    SWITCH TRAPPER

As per our arrangement with the platform, the cosmetic is to remain exclusive to the platform.

    L4D

As per our arrangement with the platform, the promotion is effective on Steam only.

    STREAMER COSMETICS

As per our arrangements with streamers, they will not be distributed and unlocked for every player. You can get a large number of streamer exclusives in the Charity Case.

  • @HatCreature Yes, precisely.

@Mr_K But you can't balance for an overperformance. By balancing it in the direction of favoring one side or the other, you are asking one side to be okay with losing most of their games.

(Addendum) Also, yeah. To advance in rank, you have to overperform. Like if you're competing for a promotion at work, you have to go above and beyond to advance.

That's the exact point of a ranking system. It's meant to put you in player pool of opponents that match your skill level so that there's more of a "back and forth" and less pleb stomping.

  • @HatCreature said:

Technically speaking, the Emblem system DEMANDS you get the 4K. The higher rank you go the more you are pressured into performing like a god so that kind of goes against the 2 kill/2 escape philosophy.

@Peanits addressed this quite recently. If you are getting an average score (in this case 2K most games), you are at the rank you belong in based on your average skill. If you are performing above the baseline, you have earned a rank up. If you are performing below baseline, you get the depip.

  • It's not that it's the "goal" in the sense that they want every game to have those results. It's the "goal" in terms of the baseline (average), or in other words, in terms of balance. 50/50 down the middle, which is, ideally, where balance should land.

Fair enough. But personally, when I'm tired of certain types of threads, I simply skip over them.

It's hard to skip over when people keep crying over actual free stuff or having to share (not you, in this case.) So many people just honestly sound like a bunch of children.
