there is more than 40% difference between usage rate of DH and those slowdown perks.

Nah, I probably wouldn't use BBQ if it didn't have the BP boost. I feel like its popularity would shrink at least 50% of it didn't have it.
With that being said the most popular killer perk appears in 57.5% of matches whereas the most popular survivor perk appeared in 86% of matches. That being Deadhard.
The main difference I see here between roles is that any perk is basically the same on any survivor, so it's easy to see why some perk's popularity can correlate with how "OP" it currently is. David with a DH or Nea with DH is basically the same thing.
With killer, on the other hand, you should have to go case by case to see what's happening there. Say, if someone faces a lot of Ruin+Undying Blights a day those two perks will climb up that list (and may look like they are top-tier), but maybe when it's not a Blight the player faces those two rarely appear. So maybe that's a powerful combo on that one specific killer.
I think it'd be interesting to see how these numbers apply to each individual killer.
-
On the bright side, I went from playing 20-30 matches a day to playing like 3, so I guess not everything's so bad about that hell lol
-
But how else would I finish the "destroy 30 dropped pallets" challenge by just playing a single match?
-
I've seen some people complain about Pinhead's chains, but they are easily countered by opening the box (you even get to hear THE best line in the game, so... come on, guys, open the damn box!). Nemesis I don't know, maybe it's the zombies people don't like? They are kinda silly sometimes, they get stuck on whatever is ahead of them, I've seen one literally walking continuously without actually moving. And Nemesis' tentacle potentially makes him a 3-hit killer, which is kinda nice if you are looping him.
I can't complain about Nurses, I've tried her and it's painful to learn, let alone to master her. If I go against a God Nurse, I'm damn proud I get destroyed because that's one killer that not everyone can use. And baby Nurses are fun too, you can easily loop them most times, but I respect the dedication.
Some people will complain about whatever because it's the DbD forum, you get one "I like this..." thread for every 50 rants and negative comments daily.
-
If you open someone else's envelope you get BPs. If someone else opens yours you get the event rewards.
-
I would actually like it if they changed some of the charms in the rift for rewards like BPs, but I don't want all charms gone. Some of them are really pretty, especially those at the highest levels of the rift. But yes, I'd rather not have various recolors of the same design.
Anyway, I don't think making more or fewer charms harm the development of the game in any way because I'm quite sure BHVR has different teams of people with different roles, and the ones that work on balance issues may not be the same that work on the rift design. But I'm not sure.
-
Mine is around 3-5 min right now playing solo Q, it's 10 pm tho
-
I got mine too 😊
-
Soon. They said it's happening soon.
-
In my experience she's in the top 10 killers I face when playing survivor.
I don't know what it's like playing as her because I haven't unlocked her yet, but honestly, she's not one of my favorites to go against. In fact, I think she's one of my least favorites. But the fact that I usually have at least one teammate DC in every match against her plays a role in my dislike for her, so Idk.
-
NOED
CoH
-
I'm pretty sure I'm somewhere in the middle, definitely nowhere near high MMR but also not a potato. That's probably the reason why I don't get so many S or A tier killers that much, but it's still a strange mix I got there.
It can be a regional thing too, I'd love to know if other South American players are getting these kinds of matches or if they get the more powerful killers more often.
The one thing that's probably an international truth is that almost no one mains the Twins.🤣

Anomalies like that are why I decided to do this. 17 Pinheads in nearly 900 matches is outright bizarre to me. What region do you play in?
Yeah geez Artist wasn't even the most popular killer in the 100 matches she got released in. Nurse out did her there too. Now this 100 she as one of the least popular killers. Clown technically showed up more than she did.
I play in the South American server.
I'm noticing more Nurses now than before, but that didn't surprise me because I always read here that they are pretty common killers to face (like Blight, even though I don't see him that much 22/874). But I didn't expect Leatherface to become so popular in the last few weeks, that was weird to me.
This is how the list looks for me now at 875 (I just finished one match):
82 Huntress
63 Wraith
57 Cannibal
56 Artist
48 Nurse
47 Trapper
47 Shape
45 Ghostface
38 Doctor
38 Spirit
36 Nemesis
33 Hillbilly
32 Plague
30 Legion
30 Trickster
28 Executioner
25 Clown
22 Pig
22 Blight
20 Deathslinger
17 Nightmare
17 Cenobite
13 Hag
12 Oni
11 Demogorgon
6 Twins

Leatherface 30 19 escapes 11 deaths (2-6 this time he owned me)
Pinhead 24 16 escapes 8 deaths
Trickster 23 16 escapes 7 deaths (6-0 this 100)
Artist 22 14 escapes 8 deaths ( 2 in 100 already declining in popularity)
Myers 22 7 escapes 15 deaths (2 and 2 the last 100)
Plague 20 11 escapes 9 deaths ( huge surge in popularity from first 400 matches 9 appearances)
Spirit 19 9 escapes 10 deaths

Demo 5 3 escapes 2 deaths
Freddy 5 4 escapes 1 death
Pyramid Head 5 3 escapes 2 deaths
NOTES
Nurse finally dethroned Blight who was the most popular killer for the first 400 matches. He has been strangely rare the last 200 or so matches after being so popular before that.
Artist is being seen less
Plague showed up nearly as much as she did in the first 400 this last 100.
Poor Clown hasn't killed me in over 500 matches.
I had a lot of bad luck with Leatherface this time around after usually defeating him.
Like always there is a chance for a mistake somewhere in here like a number off or so.
I am actually very surprised that the escape rate again went up. I was in the fifties until 300-400 saw it increase over 5% to 60%. I was expecting a small decrease but a small increase is pretty crazy.
This is really interesting. I've been keeping track of the killers I face too (but not as detailed because I don't have the escape/kills ratio), and I'm seeing way too many Huntresses and Wraiths. And just like you, I see the number of Artists is dropping, she used to be my number three but now Leatherface is ahead of her.
Twins, Demos & Onis are the rarest for me, and I'm quite jealous that you see so many Cenobites, I've only had 17 and I'm 874 games in :/
-
The only two reasons I'd stay longer than needed are
- I want to make sure my teammates are okay. If someone is being chased and I can take a hit for them to make sure they get to the exit gates I will go for it. Also if I feel someone may go down to NOED I'd look for the totem as much as possible even if the exit gates are open.
- The killer facecamping. Yes, it's petty. But if they have enough time to waste to sit in front of a hook to watch someone die, I think they won't mind staying a few extra seconds at the end watching me stare from the exit gate.
Other than these two scenarios I just leave the match as soon as possible. One extra hit won't make a difference to the final BPs for any side really.

@DemonDaddy said:
Mmr only effectively functions to shield new survivors, killers are thrown wherever matchmaking needs them regardless of sbmm score.
It doesn't do that either. I've had teammates that were really new to the game, less than 50 hours in some cases and we could be matched to 1k+ hour killers. So they are basically the weak link in the team and usually die pretty early.
-
Looks like the matchmaking doesn't even work among the survivor teams either, yesterday I had to dodge a lobby because I had a teammate with 18.9 hours in-game and another one with just 0.7 hrs (no idea about the last one because they were on console). And I'm pretty sure I've had one or twice more like that in other matches but I couldn't check their profiles
-
Really? Blights are quite rare in my games, I have a lot of Huntresses, Wraiths & Artists :/
I actually like matches against Blights

The stuff that you said should be bannable offenses but what you’re missing in is that survivors and killers should be reported for it, not just survivors.
This. Exactly this.
The tribalistic double standards only breed more toxicity by witch-hunting a specific role for the same behavior the opposite role can have but goes unmentioned by OPs. And I'm not talking about this one OP in particular, but it's something that happens quite often on this forum.
Insults and harassment should be condemned and reported regardless of whatever role the player chooses to pick.
-
Low-quality GIF because I didn't want to upload it to YT, but look at the not-so-hidden hex totem somewhere in this map...............
-
South American servers, survivors are pretty interesting down here. Looks like we have some kind of a beta game mode where you play a 1v1v1v1v1 match and the most thrilling part is finding out who's gonna kill you first if the killer or one of your teammates.
-
My advice would be to try and keep the game fresh, add a few events with interesting rewards for the rifts, and help new players with the grind (which they are already doing with the new rank rewards).
The chart is interesting. I mean, there's no denying the game had a decline in the numbers but I honestly think it's not really that alarming. At least that's the way I read it.
I'm taking the last average of players for December 2021 that was 44,639.5, that number surpasses 21 previous months and is only behind the numbers for the last six months (June-November). Even more, there's an unusual increase in the numbers by July followed by a similar decline the next month, and then it stays somewhat balanced from there on.
I feel like they are failing to retain new players. New chapters attract more players but most don't really enjoy their experience and just leave (unlike some of us that are already trapped here lol). I don't think it's that alarming, I don't feel like the game is in risk or anything but some QoL improvements are needed to help our baby surv and baby killers feel comfortable enough to keep playing.
That's how I read it at least. Maybe I'm completely wrong, honestly, I don't know.

The disconnects are ruining this game. 3/5 games i tried to play yesterday were ruined by someone disconnecting and thus losing me mmr and giving me worse team mates the next round (because escaping means skill right?)
Today, 2/2 games someone rage quit because they didn't get instantly saved or they got found first. It isn't fair to the remaining survivors and the trash mmr system punishes us for the rage quit. This game seriously needs the tutorial bots to replace quitters, at least they will do generators.
Try playing killer. I've been doing that lately. I've had too many campers lately so I decided to try and switch more often so I could actually get to play a full match lol

She's number 3 in the rank of killers I see the most. Maybe it's something regional?

100% agreed. Why the hell do we still have this bloodpoint system when it's completely outdated? We get new survivors and killers, and soon we get the Ringu chapter. Can you believe how much bloodpoints you have to earn to get them all to lvl 50 and get all the perks for every single survivor and killer? It's crazy. And if you're a masochist, you would prestige them to max.
That's exactly what I am. I'm prestiging characters I'll never use. But it feels so good when you see them P3 lvl 50 with all perks :(
I love/hate the grind

this has been an issue i've had with the game since it first came out. i'm tired of getting hooked for the first time just to be camped on the hook making it impossible for my team to even attempt to rescue me and i know i'm not the only one that's upset about it.
Well once you are hooked by a camper there's not much you can do really. I'd say just keep struggling until the end so you give your team enough time to escape. If you could find 3 other players to join your team you could coordinate a play in which someone tries to lure the killer away while someone else goes for the unhook. But if you are solo Q that's just not possible. After a while, you just get used to it, tho.

Blood Rush is always 1.5x.
Blood Hunt is 2x.
Blood Feast is 3x. (This has only ever happened once, I think, before my time.)
I hope they implement a Bloody Hell with a 10x BPs soon 😫

-
I do actually. Especially when they have some weird build you didn't expect.
-
In my personal experience (I play a lot of SoloQ), I enter a match not necessarily expecting to escape. My main objectives are (right after rank reset) not de-pipping (worst case scenario) and, if I feel the match had a good start, I raise the bar to actually getting +1 or +2 pips (even if I die). That's my main objective because I need the BPs from the monthly rank reset.
As a second objective, I always go for challenges from every tome I can. I'm running out of things to do because I need to unlock more survivors but I'm focussing on killers now, but I try to always have something to do to get me the extra BPs.
An escape is always welcome, but honestly knowing how Solo Q works, I try not to expect much from the matches.
-
I have mixed feelings about this.
On the one hand, I think it'd be nice to see someone with "upvotes" or "+rep" because you'll insta know that they will be good teammates and not trolls. I sometimes check those things when they have a public Steam profile, even though they are not 100% certain to be true because they can delete messages.
But on the other hand, I don't really like the idea of there being a public positive badge but not a negative one (like YT not displaying dislikes), I feel it's just faking it, because you may see someone with 10 "upvotes" but you are missing maybe another 50 instances when they were trolling or BMing. And we all know having both options to vote for, in a community such as this, won't end well.
-
I do this lol
Or sometimes I comment on something and I get a reply that I feel deviates from the original topic so instead of following the discussion I just quit replying.
It's not like I don't care about the topic, I just don't have the patience to be part of a train leading to "Us vs them" again :/
-
Do you have cross platform enabled? If not maybe you should do that to have a bigger pool of killers for them to choose from

I could have sworn they stated they were working on this or something like it to incentivize people to play whichever role is less played at a certain time. As a way to deal with queues. I believe it was mentioned during the 5th Anniversary stream. But it's behavior and they state all the time they are looking at something and then it just never happens.
I read the same somewhere a while ago but I couldn't find the source. I hope they are still working on it

Personal opinion here, I wish it was a lower grade add-on just so I can see more Mirror Myers out there. I find them fun to play as and against, especially in indoor maps.

As much as it would delight a lot of people to see a Robert Englund cosmetic for Freddy, there's a reason why they went with the remake over the classic: BHVR couldn't get the rights. Hopefully one day that will change, but I agree that it's really frustrating considering that every other horror icon in the game has at least one additional cosmetic whereas Freddy has none. Personally I would like to see A New Nightmare cosmetic.
I wish they could get Robert Englund's Freddy and they did something like with Pinhead. I'd pay good money to have Freddy say "Welcome to prime time, #########" every time he hooks someone 😅

That's not how it works. You can't expect a company to gift you money just because they decided to discontinue a product. They are giving you the closest thing to an equivalent currency.

Don't really understand why bhvr hasn't tried this solution. Unless they have some data to indicate that more BP incentives don't work. It seems like it'd be a pretty simple solution to a couple problems right now.
1; The grind in this game is agonizing particularly for newer players
2; It would be nice to be able to complete all the surv archives within my lifetime.
Seriously go crazy. Give the underplayed side 100%, 200%, 300%, a new perk for free every game idc. BP is capped at 1mil so it's not like older players would save up some exorbitant amount of BP.
I do understand that bhvr may see this as a bandaid instead of a permanent solution and I guess it kind of is. Band-aids are meant to be removed when the wound heals though.
I honestly think this could be good for the game. It helps with the grind and with the queue times for those who are having long times waiting. And it doesn't hurt either side really

Just imagine the perk that would get ban in every trial. Each survivor can ban a perk and the killer can ban 4 perk. I can already see the ban on each side survivor would ban corrupt, deadlock, ruin and pop. Killer would ban dead hard, bt, CoH and DS if its a spirit she would ban iron will.
The number of dodge will skyrocket XD it would be nice to see for a week end anyway and the dev would see which perk the communuty think is to strong and need a nerf.
The main problem I see there is that for a system like this to be implemented you'd need to show the killer to the survivors while in the lobby. And we all know it'd just make it near impossible for certain killers to find matches.
-
For me, the game is fun when I feel I made some progress. And progress for me (I'm trying to P3 lvl 50 a lot of characters) equals making enough BPs per match.
I don't mind dying if I get to play enough to get at least 15k, or as killer I don't mind the 0K as long as I had enough interaction to secure about as much (or higher, I'm finding it easier to grind as killer).
So basically the fun part of this game is working towards a bigger goal. Challenges & Rituals spice things up too :P
-
I was about to post something similar, glad I found this thread already. I was just starting a match as Blight, the game felt kinda laggy, I hit ESC to check the ms of the players, 3 of them were pretty normal and the last one was around 355ms. About 15 sec into the match it disconnected me, I restarted the game, ran a speed test to see if it was something on my side but no. I restarted the match and had no penalties, which is weird because I've had 5 min bans before due to internet crashes.
Earlier today I played survivor and had 5 teammates disconnect in a total of 4 matches. I don't know what's going on really.
