I'm on ps4 and I still didn't get update #########
Mine didn’t start automatically like normal. But this worked:
- Go to the PS4 main screen
- Highlight DBD
- Press the “options” button on your controller
- And then select “check for update”.
If this doesn’t work then I guess you’ll just have to wait and keep checking, but it’s at least worth a try!

Questions, how strong is the hindered effect,
can you activate it while injured / broken / deepwounded
can it become active on you while you are deepwounded aka make the first survivor take 6 extra hits in a chase since you can activate it on them repeatedly
Very good questions and thank you for askingI I hadn’t considered this aspect of things.
I think the requirement to be healthy is one of the main reasons that the perk For The People is so rarely used. Therefore I’d say that yes, this can be used while injured — BUT, to offset potential abuse like you’d described, let’s say there’s a 60-second cooldown EVERY time it’s activated, regardless of whether you successfully absorb a hit for someone.

@Beelzeboop said:
It should injure you as well.
Also, this sounds a bit like old MoM. Not a lot, but there are similarities in purpose.
When you take the Deep Wound, that injures you. I assume that always the case, but I’m glad you brought this up so I could clarify.
You’ll protect the teammate and then have to “‘mend’. Afterward you’re still injured. Along with this you’re broken and hindered, and the killer knows your general location based on your scream. (To clarify further, the scream should produce a loud noise notification bubble).
High risk!

Eh, a mechanism for loading in perks mid-game sounds a bit too complicated, and very niche.
What sort of perks did you have in mind to be compatible with it?
If they're too strong, then it could be really broken. (wait until you get slugged to decide between Unbreakable or Decisive Strike, or wait until you find out if you're going against a Spirit to decide to load up Iron Will)
It kinda breaks the concept of perks altogether to be honest, as a loadout you prepare before going into the trial. I would say that any functionality that could or should be swapped out mid-game, could probably be covered by items. You can find these in chests, or swap them with other survivors. Maybe a better suggestion would be new items that do other things that some other perks do. We've just got a perk that mimics firecrackers, maybe an item that mimics something like... Adrenaline, Stim Pack: Instantly recovers one health state when the exit gates are powered, consumed on use. Or... Distortion, Talisman: hides your aura from killer aura reading perks, breaks when charges are depleted.
From a programming standpoint as to whether swapouts are possible, I suppose the devs would have to work that out.
But you make a really good point that this could be broken with strong perks. That’s why I wanted to put it in that some would be deemed too strong to be applicable. These s have the data to determine which ones these would be
The main idea here is to give some viability to the more niche perks. It’s Legion so let’s grab Autodidact or Solidarity. We got 3-genned, where’s my pebble?! I’ve gone all match with only 3 perks, but now it’s just me and the hatch is shut. I’d better load in Wake-up!
And remember, killers can use this as well! This flashlight SWF is ridiculous - time for Lightborn! Nobody is cleansing against my Plague, I think Bloodhound would help! Wow these gens are flying - it’s really getting me, ahem, Fired Up!
You get the idea. Some of the “applicable” perks will be moderately strong. Most of them will be the ones that don’t get a lot of use, but would still be nice to have (I have to say it) on Standby!
-
Did it seem like he would usually sneak up on you while you were working a gen? Also, did you notice if his red stain was gone?
If so, he was was probably using the perk Tinkerer, which removes the terror radius and red stain for a little while anytime a gen reaches 70% completion. It also tells him which gen hit that threshold, so he’ll usually go there while undetectable. If he’s in a chase with you when this happens, it can really give him an edge!

I am new to the game, and it seems like when I play a survivor, its absolutely impossible to ditch the killer once they find me. I would think there would be a way to get out of their vision, or to duck and hide in the bushes or around a corner. Am I missing something, or are you pretty much caught as soon as the killer targets you? I have seen people run around, but never actually ditch the killer once they are on their tail.
First of all, welcome!
2nd, you’re going to get a lot of suggestions about useful perks in this thread, and they’re all going to be valid. But the downside is that you won’t have access to most of these perks since you won’t have much progression on the different survivors.
For this reason, I want to suggest something that may seem strange at first: play a few matches as the killer! I know, that may sound intimidating knowing that those are other human players you’re hunting, but you get over it pretty quick. Expect to lose, no biggie.
The point is to see what the killer sees. Learn how scratch marks work. Learn the speed differences between survivor and killer while running, while vaulting, while dropping from heights, etc. Watch what the survivors do to try losing you. What works? What doesn’t? Do they camp at pallets to stun you when you approach? Do they run through without pulling to make you chase them around a few times? Do they go behind a wall and then change direction when you try cutting them off?
Learn what works against you when you kill. Then use that info to your advantage next time you survive! As an added bonus, you’ll learn the limits of the killers you use so that you can better survive when you face them! Playing both roles is by far the best strategy!
-
Sounds like lag, but could be something else too.
-
Until the spawns get buffed, here’s a bandaid fix you can apply yourself:
- Customize your favorite hex build.
- Burn an offering for Midwich
(Out of Midwich offerings? Try Dead Dog Saloon or Lery’s)
-
We found you!
-
Sticking with the theme of its name, “Unnerving Presence”, it needs to make survivors essentially not think straight when the killer is near. Here’s my suggestion:
- Survivors within 20 meters of the killer “miss certain details” - pallets (up & down) are invisible, breakable walls (broken) appear intact, and windows look like solid walls until they have been in view of the camera for 0.5/1/1.5 seconds. Survivors can still interact with vaults and pallets like normal.
This changes the perk into a ‘chase perk’ and would be useful against pro players who are constantly flicking their camera forward and back. They think they’re running through an empty loop but suddenly get stuck on the downed pallet that they didn’t see when they momentarily looked forward.

I'm not exactly a huge fan of a basekit totem counter and would rather have a unique notification for totem destruction. However if a basekit totem counter is added, how would these perks interact with it?
If that were to be added to basekit (which is a big “if” now that Small Game has a totem counter), then I would say that this should work the same as as Small Game. That is, make it count UP from zero rather than down from five.
This way, survivors won’t know that there are extra totems until they see a “6” or higher on the totem counter.
Now, how do they know when they’ve gotten all the totems when they don’t know which tier of the perk you have? 2 options:
- They don’t know and have to assume that you’re using tier 3 of the perk.
- The background of the totem counter changes color once all the totems are gone.
-
Ok, I’ll bite.
1) If we’re being experimented upon, does that mean that mean that we’re going to be better prepared than most for what lies ahead?
2) Bombardier seems to be the lynchpin of the conspiracy. So just to be sure, are they solely a military organization or do they operate in other markets as well?

I'm still gonna say this isn't really needed and still comes across as OP. Why would you automatically open both doors and hide scratch marks to make it easier to escape? All this does is essentially punish the killer for doing his job of killing everyone and giving the last guy (who could've been that one toxic survivor who spends the majority of the game hiding in a locker and letting his teammates die) a free win. That doesn't seem fair to punish one side for doing his job and potentially rewarding the other side for just waiting it out.
Besides something like this is not really needed since the gates are usually spaced a good distance apart from each other anyway. I've actually had 3Ks end this way where the last survivor is a sneaky little bastard and will manage to open one of the gates just as I get there and then escape right in front of me. I'm not complaining either. In cases like that it's a very well deserved win. They outplayed me and waited for the perfect timing so good on them.
I fully understand your concern here, and it’s because I was unclear in my description. I’ve edited the original post in order to clarify that this only affects the lights, but not the opening progress for the gates. It’s simply to make it harder for the killer to determine which gate you’re working on.

They aren't automatically opened, the lights are just lit up automatically. I presume OP still wants survivors to take time to open the exit, it's just to try and combat instances where the gates spawn close enough to be patrolled very quickly. This way, exit lights cannot be used to determine whether or not they have been interacted with.
You nailed it! That was exactly my intention..

This...seems very broken....
At first may seem that way, but it’s essentially Left Behind for gates. It’ll really only be important when you’re the last survivor and the hatch has been closed. Since you can’t know if that’ll be the case before the match starts, you’ll have to gamble by giving up a different perk just.
Because it’s so situational, I doubt this would really get that much more use than Left Behind. Still, it could be the difference between life and death at the end!
Killer can counterplay with Whispers, so nothing is guaranteed.

I like it. Will be strong on killers with good map control, like billy and blight. Especially if they're running Ruin + Undying.
I agree! These would work incredibly well with Undying to protect a valuable hex perk! And if you don’t want to use up all your slots on a totem build, you could also fake out ever even bringing a hex.
Survivors would waste loads of time hunting the fake hexes and you could be benefiting from BBQ or Tinkerer or some other pressure perk!

@Beelzeboop said:
Buried secrets just sounds like better Boneyard.
Yes, in a sense. Buried Secrets make it impossible to tell dull totems apart from hexes until you uncover them. Boneyard gives you more totems altogether, plus a few decoys.
Synergizing these 2 perks together though....that’s when the real magic happens! Slap on Thrill of the Hunt to waste loads of survivor time without even needing an actual hex to protect! Or maybe use Undying to get little aura spies all over the map. Lots of possibilities here!
-
Another tip. If you get crows while waiting in the locker, Head On won’t work.
I’ve seen this trip people up far too many times!
-
At this point, the most entitled side is the eSport-wannabe-sweatfest-ers. In other words, the anti-fun group. Loud. Whiny. Obnoxious.
Casual players that just want to have a good time? They have no seat at the table.
-
I think a killer like this would actually have pretty good map pressure! Oh, and to keep things fair, I think bot-controlled survivors should have a red stain - though a little smaller than the killer’s.
So imagine this scenario:
You’re working on the shack generator. Jake, who was in a chase a little while ago, finds you and wants to be healed. He crawls in through the shack window and screams! He didn’t notice the tripwire on the window! Turns out he’d been exposed to some of the killer’s power during the chase and this tripwire just finished the job.
All of a sudden he begins to show the red stain. This teammate you once trusted is now trapped in a fight for his mind - and his bloodthirsty body starts rushing toward you with single-minded resolve! You juke his first attack, but now the chase is on. Kiss that genny goodbye, cuz this killer has Ruin.
You dip and dodge, and as you round a corner you see the actual killer coming straight at you from a different direction! You spin back, hoping to get another successful juke on your possessed teammate - but you run into a rock! Just as he’s about to land a hit on you, he screams and falls to the ground. Poor Jake must’ve been downed in his Mindscape.
A dark cloud emanates from his head and begins to take on the form of the killer. In the distance, you see the actual killer disintegrating in the same dark cloud.
You bolt back to the nearby shack right as the killer fully emerges. He looks at Jake on the ground, but then his gaze follows your scratch marks leading to the shack. He hears the sputtering remains of the generator. The killer makes his decision. He ——

Since Friday the start of the weekend, wall to wall Babysitters and tunnelers from PC/switch/PS4 ??? I left out Xbox because I have ran into very, very, very, very, very, very, very and very few killers who played toxic babysit an tunnel. Seriously? I thought that enough people knew about this garbage. I guess not, joke is on me! No it is not just hight teens we are talking 8 - 15 lvl killers. When are the devs gonna put a stop to supporting babysitters or tunnel killers.
Ok this is off topic - and yes I’m trying to be a lil funny here, but I’m also actually quite curious —- How did you come to have this game on so many different platforms? Isn’t each one a separate purchase with separate progression? Do you play mobile as well? Furthermore how much have you been playing to be able to collect tunneling data from each of these platforms since Friday?
Now back to your point, yes, camping/tunneling is terrible right now. On mobile as well.

It went free on PS Plus a couple years ago. I’d never even heard of it before downloading it. When I opened it, servers were down. A few days later, still down, so I deleted. Just by curiosity, I tried reinstalled about a month later and it worked!
I started off totally fresh, no idea even how the gameplay progressed or why I couldn’t find a single-player story mode. Tutorial was kinda weak back then. But I got the hang of it and have played ever since! (It didn’t take long to understand why there was no single-player option lol)

You’re fine, no worries. He didn’t get his 4-kill and wanted to vent. Some people do this by making threats of reports and bans.
You didn’t cheat.
You didn’t hack.
You didn’t prevent the game from progressing (like trapping someone in a corner all match.)
You didn’t exploit a bug.
In fact, you didn’t break any rules at all!
You’re just fine. This guy would literally have to submit a report against you and then submit a video recording as proof. 1) he’s not gonna have the patience for this since he was just venting anyway. 2) Even if he did, best he can say is “this guy ran at me! Call the wambulance!” The customer service guy is gonna shake his head, dismiss the report, and move on to the next to handle real issues like evidence of hacking.

Something unaccounted for in your post: when and by whom can these items be used? During the trial? By the survivor with the backpack equipped, other survivors, or both? Only by escaping with it?
You’re right, I should clarify better. The backpack is found in a chest, so it can only be equipped during the trial. When equipped, it is purely cosmetic so that people can see that you have it.
As for the items themselves, you only earn these AFTER the match if you escape with the backpack. During the match, you can use the items you bring or find as you normally would, but you can NOT retrieve or use items from a backpack.
In other words, it makes you look different, but doesn’t affect the match. You must survive to benefit from it and have items added to your inventory.
-
Let’s not forget the fact that you can send 5 zigzag streams of puke across the survivor’s back and yet they somehow avoid getting infected! Seems that only straight, directed streams of puke count - which can be mighty hard to pull off.

I actually like this idea.
It would give survivors some actual choices to make beyond "should I screw over my team or not?"
Thanks, I’m glad you like it! I think this would be a lot of fun with a nice reward. Both killer and survivor benefit, but there’s definitely a lot of risk involved too. It’s a great way to get yourself targeted and possibly tunneled.
Nevertheless, it’s almost like adding a new optional objective to the game - for both roles! I would love to see this added!
-
A backpack! Find one in a chest and survive to claim the items inside it.
- It will contain either 2 or 3 random items (depending on rarity) that are fully loaded with add-ons.
- Wearing the backpack does not force you to drop your currently equipped item. It can still be used.
- The backpack appears on your character and is highly visible. Furthermore, there’s a risk that killers will target you to deny you the treasure. Teammates may let you die in order to scavenge. High risk, high reward.
-
This idea has my support!
On top of that, we’d see how many people actually use bbq for aura reading. It would become more of a niche perk for speed killers like Billy, but then free up a slot for Killers like Hag who only use it for Bloodpoints.
-
The new maps are so pretty, but dang that noonday sun is bright! Imagine if instead it had the moodiness of MacMillan moonlight!
I think it feels just about right when you’re in Freddy’s dream world.
-
You know the “freezer room” in Gideon? What if every basement was like that? Normal basement - but with walls (and a window) making a more closed off square inside. Might need to enlarge the overall basement to make this work.
The walls should have more openings than the Gideon version so that the killer doesn’t lose extra time when carrying people to these hooks. But just the fact that they’re there gives survivors SOME chance at escape.

Man I never thought of a bioshock chapter, now you say it, it would be so cool. They can do a freakin map with this
I’m right there with you! I didn’t even think of BioShock until I was proofreading my post to start this thread! But that game has a pretty good “creep factor” that I think would fit into DBD quite nicely.
I imagine we could have the creepy, body-harvesting Little Sister as the killer. Or her giant robot. (Or both!? The robot could be her power - kinda Twins style maybe.) Plenty of other options too though.
Anyway, the map would be awesome! Dark. Creepy. Moody. Isolated. Just absolutely perfect!
-
Ok so mine are more of general things that affect other things.
- Significantly reduce killer frustration (tho I don’t know how) - Killers have more fun, less stress, and the role is more accessible. Killers no longer feel a need or desire to camp/tunnel.
- Camping/Tunneling - This should be more heavily discouraged. Honestly it’s no fun for either side. As killer you stand and stare. Woohoo. Oh, and high stress the whole time since you don’t know if they’re mounting a rescue. As survivor you don’t really even get to play. “Normal” matches area blast. Camp/tunnel is a yawn-fest.
- Balance out killer roster. More killer variety at all ranks = more fun for all players!
-
Seems to have gotten a lot worse ever since the Trickster update. Maybe because Decisive was changed?
Anyway, I don’t think it’s because of your David character, it’s just because you’re a survivor.

Vertigo sounds like a map effect, not a Survivor perk.
Befuddled could be interesting, but then the Killer realizes that they just have go to a area that didn't have a gen aura previously to find a hook. Could confuse newer players or people not used to the perk, but it gets quickly rendered useless.
vertigo DID give me a interesting idea for a meat factory or someplace with ceiling hooks that you have to climb some stairs to get to, and a rotating belt that occasionally rotates the ceiling hooks to different spots while a Survivor is hooked. Imagine moving to a different location on the map automatically, flying through the air on a hook.
Oh nice! Yeah, that hook-belt idea sounds like a lot of fun! Imagine if they were on conveyors that transported you around the map while hooked! (Both this and my rotating hook idea are partially designed to make it harder for killers to camp.)
Oh, and to address your earlier concern, Befuddled is meant to work like that. Useful for the first hook or two, or when the killer isn’t paying attention. And that extra 3 percent wiggle speed close to the hook will give you and edge in those moment when you were sooooo close to wiggling off. Not super strong, but still fun. Gotta be careful not to make every idea a meta perk!

I mean... it's Nurse.
I don't get what console players would experience differently considering this game has been crossplay for like a year.
I should have specified, this is more in regards to the Nurse being the console player. Consider this from the perspective of crossplay being toggled off.
-
I pretty much agree with what everyone else has said. Not usually a threat, but when she is, well.......
And rare, so it’s always kinda fun to see a nurse!
-
Yes I still play it! In fact, played just an hour ago.
So many things on mobile are actually better, and some things are worse.
Positives
- Login bonus
- Shared inventory (I have like 80 purple flashlights that any survivor can draw from. Offerings like party streamers are shared between all survivors AND killers!)
- ”Mystery boxes” in the blood market (bloodweb) give iridescent or auric cells
- 5 rituals daily + 5 tougher ones weekly. These award bloodpoints, items, shards, and cells.
(side note, at this point I have all killers except Freddy and never paid a cent!)
- Level up your characters by PLAYING them, not dumping in bloodpoints. If Billy is using Nurse’s Calling, by golly he EARNED it!
- Bots take over upon DC so that one player can’t shift the match balance by quitting. They range randomly from pretty dumb to pretty dang good!
- ”Visual sounds” like heartbeat, whimpering, gens, and footsteps. You can SEE them! This adds a new consideration to using perks. For example I find Stridor to be amazing on ANY killer because it extends the range of detecting sound marks.
Negatives
- Doesn’t have all characters/maps/perks
- Touch controls - though you CAN customize them
- Can cause hand pain if you play for extended periods
- More hackers
- Huge file size for a phone
- Drains battery - play while plugged in! Might get hot!
- Each update seems to introduce some of the exact same bugs that occurred on the Steam version several patches ago and have since been fixed. Seems like Mobile has to go through the same growing pains for some reason.
-
I want Bubba’s BBQ (though I realize I won’t need as many bloodpoints anymore which is my main use for the perk).
And then I want Feng’s Lithe. I would normally go for Head-on, but without Q&Q, well.....
-
Agree!
-
Some people play to camp. Some people never camp. And then there’s the majority who say “it depends”. In other words, it’s situational. Forcing a firm commitment to “yes” or “no” doesn’t give a clear picture.
Is NOED overpowered or a wasted perk slot? Depends on if the survivors do bones or ever finish all 5 gens.
Is Calm Spirit useful or useless? Depend on if you play against Doctor or not.
Is farming a waste of time? Depends on if you need bloodpoints?
Is camping a way of winning or a way of losing? Yes. Both. Depends on whether survivors feed the camper or not. Depends on if it’s late in the match and the only way to secure a kill. Depends on if the survivors were toxic or normal. It......it depends.
-
1) Sounds like a tech issue
2) I just had a great idea for a Huntress Lullaby buff!

This seems like a perfect place to stretch my expertise on the topic
Water can be in a state where it is wet
technically if you have nothing but pure water no minerals or anything else in there the water is saturated by itself or wet because you can't fit anymore water in that water and that water is saturated with water (basically the definition of wet)
but that state is basically unachievable and not measurable, plus the whole H+ and OH- being made every now and then when water spontaneously breaks down making it nearly impossible not to have those ions diffused into the water making it unsustainable in high water quantities, but theoretically if you just have a very small sample of pure water that water can be wet, and stay wet for an extended period of time before an H2O molecule breaks down
Due to this that means most water is dry while very small quantities of that water within it can also be wet but it is nearly impossible for high quantities of water to be wet forever but it is also nearly impossible for a high quantity of water to be completely dry as small groups of just H2O within that water are saturated and therefore wet
So yes water can be wet and have wet spots, and most water is not wet
So in other words, the water is both wet and dry.
Schrodinger’s glass, so to speak. It’s in a state of constant flux, and (if I stretch the analogy a bit), it’s in a state of quantum superposition!

The term wet is the state of something being soaked with a liquid. Water cannot soak itself since it is a liquid, and you can't soak a liquid, only add to what it consists of.
Thus, water is not wet. Thanks for listening to my ted talk.
Absolutely right! Also consider that when using the word “wet”, you’ll always be referring to some object other than the water, even though you’re trying to convey the presence of water. “The puddle is wet.” “The ground is wet.” “The outside of the cup is wet with condensation.” “Now my hand is wet!”
On an unrelated yet similarly confounding topic, there’s no such thing as cold - merely a lack of heat! Saying something is getting colder is incorrect. It is actually getting less hot! Temperature is a measure of how fast the atoms in an object move. Faster movement is hotter. So a “cold” object simply has atoms moving with less speed! And there is always at least some movement until you reach absolute zero, at which point the atoms simply fall apart. This is very similar to how dark is not dark, merely the absence of light!
