  • Whether gens are done or not, if I don’t have BT then I won’t try the save alone - that just sandbags the victim. Run interference in a team effort? Sure! Get behind the guy after rescue and take hits? Absolutely!

And if it’s Bubba who’s camping, the guy on the hook shouldn’t expect a rescue. If he’s hanging through 2nd stage, he’s trying to buy you gen time to keep Bubba from hunting you.

If you’re crouching around behind the killer, hooked guy might as well just let go and start a new game. No point in buying time if the team squanders it! Repair, leave, and limit Bubba to 1 kill, 3500 bloodpoints, and a hooked-survivor-screensaver all match. Woohoo what fun! Maybe he’ll mix it up in the future.

  • Suicide*. (Typo above ^ Can’t edit)

  • On mobile in particular, it seems that they want you to hurry up a dsuicode so they can stop camping you and hunt your teammates. That’s why I hang on as long as I can unless someone is coming for a save that’ll kill us both (ie Basement Bubba).

I can do that, honestly though its fine you don't know about Pinebrook, its been a little project, I've been working for quite the while, that said though i will look around.

    Edit: Spelling error

Oh is Pinebrook the title of your work? I thought it was a publishing company or something. I hope my comment above didn’t sound dismissive. I always like to encourage creativity!

  • First off, I don’t know anybody directly, or know anything about Pinebrook or any sort of official publishing. That said, if applicable, you have a great resource here! Go to the “Creations” or “Artwork Contest” sections of this forum. Browse around until you find someone with a style you like, and then reach out to them directly.

  • Something tells me he might have issues with fat-shaming spots between trees!

  • Actually searching for a mobile lobby while I type this. There are a lot of things I like better than the normal game.

    1) If, for example, a Wraith has Ruin and Nurse’s Calling - well by golly he EARNED those perks, so kudos!

    2) I don’t get stomped every game

    3) my survivors share items! Woooooo!

    4) bots

    Downsides

    1) more hackers.

    2) ads

Then how do you? You wouldn’t limp like before unless your leg got hit. I’ll agree it’s a bit stiff but it makes sense for them to run like that

Running in pain - in my mind’s eye I see as an unsteady, uneven gait. Mostly quick steps with some longer steps mixed in at uneven intervals. The longer steps should look unstable, like you’re falling forward or tripped, but just barely managed to catch yourself.

    Anyway, just my opinion.

  • Why does the killer need a hook counter instead of the “hook state pips” that survivors see?

I think it’s good to know at a glance if the survivor you downed is on death hook. Sometimes I wanna show mercy and give them more playtime, but twin potatoes can lead to me prematurely sacrificing someone.

  • I would love this. Sometimes I just wanna eat a sandwich and watch.

I guess there’s always YouTube though. The JRM is a real blast to watch! Really funny

  • Yeah, but I like the layout and it’s great for all other items. Just the firecrackers that are the problem. I just would like an option to toggle a safety. 2 taps instead of 1. That’s all, nothing major.

  • Empathy, Head On, Q&Q.

Goal: when teammates get hurt, try to line yourself up for a locker save or at least getting the killer off their tail.

Last perk is up to you. Play solo queue for max challenge.

  • Trying to be fair to all parties involved here. They had ptb feedback, but that’s pc only. Now they have console feedback as well. Community-wide —-> loud and clear.

  • Couldn’t get there yesterday, but today about 80% of my games have gone there! It’s beautiful! Well worth the wait you’re experiencing!

Fair warning though, they’ve installed little knee-high fences along the little rubble piles around that central building. This makes that big loop super dangerous. Wider loop path in general and you can easily get hung up on objects that you barely notice as path blockers.

  • This whole “stand-straight-up-to-hide-behind-super-narrow-trees” thing also seems to be turning into a pretty popular strategy now! These animation adjustments may look odd sometimes, but many survivors are finding ways to benefit from them!

  • @Dragonshensi said:

Is there a reason why killers don’t get much bloodpoints even when they do great? I did a match, downed and killed three survivors, damaged gens and pallets, etc. also used an offering to get my blood points and barely got any. When I play survivor I can get blood points like crazy. Why is it hard for the Killer?

I typically get more bloodpoints as killer than survivor. It comes down to the categories. 8,000 in each.

in case you’re newer to the game, here’s this:

Maxed out in deviousness? Maybe focus more on getting the down instead of frenzying or tormenting them.

Are you camping the hooks till they die? That means you only get points for 1 hook event instead of 3 off a survivor. Let them get the rescues so that you can have more chases and hooks. Get lots of m1 hits for brutality instead of relying on chainsaws and such. Get lots of chases. Kick gens. Break pallets.

All in all, make sure you’re not limiting how many points you get in a category (ie camping) and make sure you’re not robbing one category (such as m1 hits for Brutality) for scoring events in another that’s already maxed out (like chainsaw Deviousness).

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/226149/as-devs-review-hud-elements-they-should-look-at-dbd-mobile-that-team-did-it-right

You realise the reason we are in this position is because their lead UI designer worked on DBD mobile UI and even mobile game UI as far back as 2011-12, they made a mobile UI for a desktop game and it does not translate whatsoever

I’ll admit I actually did not realize that. Therefore, I officially walk-back my suggestion of using the existing code from Mobile.

However, I stand by my assertion that they should use the IDEA from Mobile and make things customizable!

  • Wow, this thread did NOT go the way I expected. So here’s some extra info.

I play on PS4. The tv isn’t tiny, but it isn’t huge either. It’s across the living room from me. I can’t make out what’s going on with the health bars because they’re too small.

I want to move them back to the bottom. I want to resize them to make them MUCH bigger. I want to shrink my “item” icon cuz it’s massive and obtrusive. I want to get gens off the top of the screen. Maybe play around with different locations till I see what I like.

On mobile you can do this. For example, drag the the “exhaustion” or “hex” notification circles to where you want. (I put mine at the top, default is along the bottom.) Move other elements as well. Now, on mobile there are buttons for controls to contend with. Not so here, so it should really be an easy feature to add in.

Just open an edit option, click an element, and drag it where you want. Click the corner of the selected element and drag to make it grow or shrink. I mean this is standard Microsoft Paint stuff here, it’s not that complicated!

Once we get this down, we can move on to bigger issues like the “injured” slash totally blocking out a character’s face, or figuring out why survivors can see each other’s hook stages but killers can’t. (I hate accidentally ending someone’s game too soon!)

  • Avoid toxicity? As far as I know, the only way to do this is to become a Spectator Main.

  • @Mr_K said:

Sure, where do you want it?

Top Right, Middle Right, dead center, a pop up alert when its broken, a notification when one is broken, and/or maybe a global ear piercing break sound?

Please see the comment I made directly above yours.

  • The best totem-counter idea I’ve seen:

5 lit candles in the basement, circled around the hooks. One goes out every time a totem is cleansed!

Simple. Fits with the atmosphere of the game. Doesn’t require a HUD element.

Even though it’s not my idea, I think it’s awesome and I try to keep it going every chance I get. If you like it, please do the same!

  • Possibly, but to me it sounds more like extremely bad lag.

  • 1) Monster Hunter freakin’ rocks! 😎

    2) Fully agree. Plus, the player names and health bars are teeny tiny - useless if you’re sitting across the room (as opposed to pc players mere inches from their screens).

    3) It’s not so much that I want the HUD placements reverted, I just want to be able to customize it. Shouldn’t that have been the idea to begin with? Let me slide my gen counter to where I want it! DBD Mobile got it right. DBD standard could learn a thing or 10 from that team.

  • Good to know! I just finished with installing the update. I’m gonna use an offering, but just cuz I wanna see it! I think for the first day or two, it’s better to assume that people are just curious rather than trying to abuse the map.

  • @Mister_xD said:

no, they just wont believe the UI is bad until they get screamed at by the console players aswell.

because "they had no PTB to test it out" - which is true, but honestly, you dont need to play a PTB to be able to tell a graphical update is going to suck.

you can always just watch others play it / look at the shared screenshots.

Console player here to offer my scream. Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Do with it what you will. Hope it helps.

  • Unpopular Opinion - Demogorgon

Not because I don’t like him - he super fun! It’s just because I never see him. He’s an urban legend. A myth! He doesn’t exist!

In other words, go ahead and remove him. Nothing would change.

A couple of years ago, I went to bring one of my dogs in, and found her growling at something. She's normally this playful, happy dog, but her hackles were raised and it was NOT a friendly, playful growl. There was something nearby that she did not want around.

Then I heard something growl back and scamper off. Needless to say, I didn't put my other dog out for a few hours.

That reminds me I’d a story that was more creepy than scary. I had a playful corgi pup. She acted as you’d expect, except for that wall! Fairly often I’d walk down the hallway and she’d be sitting there looking up at this one particular wall, growling at it. Not a friendly growl either, she meant business!

There’s a long mirror on that wall, but it’s at head/shoulder height for people. No way this lil pup could see anything in it! And she didn’t look directly at the mirror either, just near it, like at its frame.

  • Years ago, I had 2 jobs - overnight delivery, and then spot delivery for multiple paper routes (delivering for missed paper complaints) until mid-morning. This was so I could go to college in the daytime.

Sleep was rare and precious, and I’d grab a quick nap wherever I could.

One morning I dozed off at the wheel for about 2 seconds. Just enough to cross the yellow lines into the lane of an oncoming Mack truck! I still hear that blaring horn to this day. I jerked back into my lane just fine, but something tells me that in some alternate universe I wasn’t so lucky.

  • Normal, yes, but only because it’s too common. It’s not meant to work this way.

My guess is that those red ranks had been waiting for a lobby for 10-15 minutes. Matchmaking gradually expands its search to ranks further and further from their own.....and the you drew the lucky straw!

  • The one that’s not mine!

    lol jk

  • Ok, Walrus for Clown, yes......But then we need to give Feng a complimentary outfit: fuzzy white baby Arctic snow seal!

You either die a hero or live long enough to be a villain.

Either tilt hard enough to quit the game in a rush of apathetic burnout, or let your passions control you to the breaking point of making a total fool of yourself.

One day this fate will belong to all of us.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you our honorary philosopher of the forums! 😁

  • Dream killer power:

You’re a large metallic statue with a halberd. When you activate your power, the halberd morphs into a long barbed pike and you move faster. You have limited time to successfully attack a survivor or the power ends and cools down..

Stab a survivor to instantly down them and impale them on your pike. After the attack, you tilt your pike upright and the survivor slides down to the base of it. The weight of the survivor slows you down to normal killer speed.

Stab a 2nd survivor to impale them and stack them on top of the first. Each survivor added to the stack slows you down further.

The survivors wiggle to interfere with your movement (but less that carrying a survivor on your shoulder). More stacked survivors = more interference. If they fully wiggle, then your power ends and you dump them off the pike onto the ground. Survivors have a 50% chance of landing on their feet, injured rather than dying. Each time a survivor is added to the pike, the wiggle meter is reset. More survivors struggling together will refill the meter faster though.

You can also end the power yourself to guarantee you dump the survivors as slugs. This takes time and survivors can still wiggle to fill the meter, so don’t be greedy! (If you stack all 4, then the power ends and they have a base 25% chance of landing injured instead of dying. This is necessary to limit games ending with 4 slugs from the start)

  • On this, I’d like to throw in the concept of actual ideas. Over in the Feedback & Suggestion portion of the forum, there are loads of truly inspired chapter ideas, killer concepts, perk ideas, solutions to persistent problems, etc.

These are generally positive posts by loyal members of the community and I think they deserve recognition! Just once in a while having a dev pop in and say “wow, we’re going to discuss this idea at the next meeting.” I mean, dang! Talk about feeling validated! This would inspire even more diligent and thoughtful work on future ideas! It would energize these loyal fans and the player base as a whole!

    But currently, well...

Its one thing knowing your idea probably won’t make the cut, but that’s to be expected. It’s quite another knowing that it’ll never even be looked at...

  • Thanks guys! It’s good to know how to recreate this!

Still, pretty exhilarating to accidentally just come across it when you never knew it existed!

  • While we’re at it, where’s Billy? Just a relic of a bygone era....

  • Maybe someone who’s essentially a chainsaw killer......but not. What I’m saying here is.....Lawnmower Man!

  • I miss Billy. Never see him anymore. Gone extinct..... 🙁

  • Not saying self care is a good strategy under these circumstances, but my guess is that they do it less for the 2nd health state and more for being quieter.

Last thing you want is a Devour Hope killer listening his way over to you!

    +1 on all fronts!

I like interactive map elements. Even if that interaction is just gathering information.

I’m right there with you. This, I think, I sat least more useful than a ‘ding’ at the door of the gas station.

  • Eh, they’re all just re-skins of each other. Kinda like asking if red plays any different from blue.

Would be nice if there was actually some permanent differentiation between survivors.

  • I like that! A few presets to hit at a moment’s notice.

    ”yes”

    ”no”

    ”danger” (and then point)

”help me” (when you need healing or when someone run past the gen you’re working on)

    ”thank you”

I imagine all of these in a scared, almost trembling hushed whisper.

Maybe one more, available only when injured AND in a chase: A louder-than-normal “No, Please no!”

There may also be a killer perk allowing them to hear these from a distance and get clues as to location.

  • I’m gonna be honest, I thought these perk ideas would creat a ‘bit’ more buzz than this! 😅

All I know is that currently if you bring an item, your best hope is to escape with it. If you use ace In the hole and start empty handed, then you can get max an item with 2 add-on. So you spend a match to equip 1 extra match. And killers are currently incapable of earning ANYTHING!

With these perks above, a successful supply run will equip you for the next FOUR matches! I think something like this is really worth considering!

  • Is that his name? The red kinda heart-shaped fuzzy red beast?

Then yeah, Gossamer. What a killer he’d be! I bet he could also run pretty quickly with those tennis shoes of his!

  • At some point the time spent is not worth the extra points you get by finding & killing the stealthers. Don’t DC, that just punishes you for their gameplay. Instead just go afk and do something else. Play on your phone, clean your room, pet your dog.

This way they don’t get a free win. If they want out, they actually have to go do some work and hold m1 for a while. And hey, if they wait too long, you could “wake up” at any moment while they’re mid-repair!

  • What if Victor is on you in the exit gate area, but you go down because your deep wound from Borrowed Time expired. Could you still crawl out immediately or are you blocked as though Charlotte attacked you?

  • Ok not even joking here. The red furry thing that was Marvin the Martian’s pet! You know, the one that wanted to name Bugs Bunny “George” and was waaaaay over-aggressive in its handling of weaker creatures? Sounds like a perfect killer to me!

  • I like Hag. Essentially everywhere at once, but all attacks are m1. As a result, she benefits greatly from perks with the “on basic attack” requirement.

  • Sup. ‘Brisk nod’
