If anyone tries that on me, not only will I not heal them, but I will actively start recording the game to report them for sandbagging.
Literally happened to me 3 out of the 4 games I played yesterday. Last one held me there so long that the killer found us. Downed the punk, and the there I was still trapped. — Thus the rant.

out of curiosity. do they respawn after you fail them?
Yes

Though I can’t say for sure, I can tell you that on mobile it doesn’t work for rituals.
So I doubt it would work for anything here.
-
Dunno about Blight, but I’m still getting some pretty significant lag spikes as Nemesis on PS4. I haven’t tried any other killers yet.
-
As I recall, there was an older version of Balanced Landing that removed the stagger effect for survivors. At the time this was a meta perk as it allowed for exceptionally strong loops, as was mentioned above. It was nerfed because these loops were easily abusable - especially on Haddonfield.

The Boom Build!
- Surge
- Oppression
- Eruption
- Overcharge

Oooh, just had an idea to make this even better! Yes, let’s still do the perk counter as described above - info at a glance. But let’s take this a step further as well.
Currently, as you scroll through your perk pool you start with your purple tier 3 perks in alphabetical order. As you scroll, you then enter the green tier 2 perks, and finally the yellow tier 1 perks.
Well let’s just add another section after yellow! Grayed out perks for each one that is unavailable to the current character! So easy!
-
Yup. And theN there’s the upcoming bloodhunt. These are so rare I don’t dare let myself miss out! Aaaarrrggghhh
-
I think Devour Hope is a well-balanced killer perk. Extremely powerful, but you’ve gotta earn its power - as well as risk its totem being destroyed. High risk, high reward!
On the survivor side, I think Quick n Quiet is fun and nicely balanced. Goes well with Head-On, but also useful in a chase. That one silent vault every now and then can interrupt the killer’s mind games. Not OP though, as the killer can counter it by simply paying attention and then anticipating its use it once he identifies the perk.
-
I think getting rid of perk tiers would be a simple yet effective fix.

No Alert has it's own natural cooldown. Think about it. It's only on a breakable wall or pallet. Soo... Not too often.
I think it works when they kick gens as well. This adds a lot more opportunity to getting value from Alert
-
Let’s do a 2x bloodhunt since we couldn’t take full advantage of event cakes while everybody was stacking them together.
-
I’m saving mine for when the game is playable on my console again. About 2 weeks! Let’s hope the fix works.....
-
Play on console before they fix it. Every lag spike is a “trip”. Killers also trip.

does report actually helps? since all of them are red rank probably friend of hacker to climb 1 of them even has VAC banned
There’s a process, but it requires that you submit video proof. If you didn’t record your match, then they get away with it this time. If you see them, or any other hacker again, be ready to slap that ‘record’ button.
You’ll still need to report them at the end of the match as well, so it’s good you did that this time around. And if you DO have video of their hacking, then you’re free to proceed with the process. (The details are here in the forum guidelines somewhere.)
BTW, I see that this is your first post to the forum, so welcome! Being new to the forum has me wondering if you may be new to the game as well. If so, can you describe the effect of their hacking? There’s a chance that they were just using certain powerful perks.
-
This is really going to affect matchmaking too (worse than it’s already messed up.). Killers will really struggle to get pips and rank up, so higher ranking survivors will always get matched with a grab bag of killers who are all stuck at the same low ranks.

I’ve been having so much fun with killer lately. Normal play, but no kills. 2 hooks each. If I get everyone to death hook, then I try to carry them to crowns or just nod at them at gens. With several cakes, all players usually end up with well over 100k bloodpoints from this!
It’s win win. Relaxing. And with no expectation of “winning”, I’m free to try all sorts of crazy perk builds!
-
Last night I tried Eruption, Surge, Oppression, and Overcharge.
I had a (wait for it)......blast!
-
I think tier 3 tentacle should always injure since there’s no more need for infection. Or maybe injure AND infect so that zombies are still dangerous.
Due to universal sounds, survivors will know that things just became riskier at tier 3, so I don’t think this would be unfair.
-
A mod commented in this earlier today. make sure you’re Charlotte when the game ends. They also said to be safe you might wanna be Charlotte and stay that way even before the gates open.
-
Well gee, my thread seems to have taken an unfortunate turn.... 😕
-
Well, if they took your sparkles, then more sparkles will have spawned elsewhere (just in case you didn’t know.)
I myself will do 2 hooks, it I’m not killing during the event.

Thanks for sharing this point of view. The frustration was getting to be too much. I think going this route might help me enjoy playing again. I guess I will just have to hold off on playing survivor. The frames dropping has cost me so many games. And the killers I've encountered during this event have just been horrible to play against.
No problem! Games are meant to entertain, but this one gets people so riled up! I’m always happy to see people take a step back and find ways to enjoy themselves!

Killer is virtually unplayable for me right now with all the lengthy framedrops and freezing. Survivor's a little better but still awful. I'd like to get crowns on some of my killers but just the thought of loading into a killer match with this framerate turns me off the whole anniversary thing.
I’m in the same boat. I wouldn’t expect a fix before the event ends, so instead I recommend a change of mindset.
What works for me is to go into each killer match with no expectations of a “win”. I set different goals for myself. Also, I don’t bring add-ons or offerings as I generally expect the game to be nearly unplayable, so these would be wasted. That said, my gameplay priorities are:
- Find crown
- Play normally - going for 2 hooks per survivor and NO kills.
- If you find another crown, carry a survivor to it, swipe at it, and let them wiggle off. (It’s so much more fun when you get to actually CARRY them there!)
- Party at the exit gate! Everybody’s so sparkly!
And that’s it! If cakes are offered, everyone gets lots of points. If the game is unplayable, you still got your crown and they at least got a couple chases, maybe a couple rescues.
I find that this mentality leads to a much more relaxed experience. You may be concerned about pips, but if I’m being honest I don’t think that lag spikes will be fixed for the next few rank reset cycle anyway.

Aaaaaand now I’m humming DNCE’S “Cake By The Ocean” ....... Thanks

There is no community challenge, it's just a way to get people playing the game and grinding crowns. They will give the skins out to everyone when they feel like it.
That’s kinda what I was hoping to prove with my question. Are we actually trying to hit a specific number or is this a “mind game” aimed at enticing killers to let survivors escape with crowns?
Not saying it’s a bad thing, btw. Last year there was so much toxicity trying to prevent survivors from getting crowns. It’s happening this year too it seems.
-
I have the same wish. During the event I don’t go for the kill-hook at all unless it’s by accident (twin survivors and such).
But otherwise, if I’m your killer, you’re GOING to escape. After your 2 hooks, I’ll even drop you off at the crown if I find it!
-
Wow I’ve never heard of Legion Tech before lol! Very well then, he earned his kill!
-
Yeah I’m pretty sure it’s the purple aura when you’re near a crown pedestal.
-
Time to show Maurice some love. He’s feeling neglected.... 😔
-
No crowns for licensed characters (I’m sure it’s because the license agreement prevents BHVR from changing how the characters look, due to intellectual property laws and such.) If the character comes from another game or movie franchise, the it’s a no-go.
Therefore, the following characters can NOT get crowns:
Bill
Quentin
Steve
Nancy
Ash
Laurie
Tapp
Cheryl
Jill
Leon
Freddy
Bubba
Nemmy
Demo
Pig
Myers
Pyramid head
Ghost face

Think of all the hats they could start selling! Doctor really needs a tophat...

The thing about this analogy is that DbD has a monopoly of the genre so it's a special case. It would be like your local restaurant being the only one in the country that serves pizza. That pizza restaurant will never die and so will DbD. No other game has characters like Michael Myers, Freddy Kreuger, and Ghost face.
Licensed characters. Licenses are typically not cheap, nor are they typically a one-time cost. I’ll admit right now that I don’t know the details of the licensing arrangement between BHVR and these other franchises, but I assume the cost to be significant.
They may have a monopoly of sorts, but that doesn’t mean profit is any less important. If revenue is equal to or less than cost, then you pull the plug. You either cut costs (quality) or you cut your losses. That’s just business.
-
There is so much truth to OP’s analysis here. I highly recommend you read that post.
I know it’s a little lengthy, but the info is good! TL:DR is that video games have a predictable business arc. Release -> growth -> boom (if lucky) -> stagnate -> shrink -> die. The company is wise to invest early, try to extend the boom as long as possible, and then collect and conserve whatever remains late. Putting money into a dying product is foolish.
As long as BHVR sees GROWTH for DBD, they’ll continue to invest their time, manpower, and money into the game. Growth comes in the form of player base, but more importantly in the form of dollar signs. If they see indications that the boom is ending, then they (rightfully so) will move into the collection phase and let the game fade out while they develop their next product.
All this talk about sending a message to BHVR by hitting their pocket book - well, the effect will be opposite from the desired outcome. We want them to work harder on the game, but right now this talk may have them spooked. You can bet they’re keeping a close eye on revenue for the next few months. Revenue up or down is the difference between “we’ve got a good thing going” and “we’ve had a good run.”

I think a good challenge would be to INJURE 4 survivors with the whip. This way they have to have been infected first.
-
@Trwth said:
I dunno, it sounds like a cool idea but in practice I can see it being intrusive and not very helpful since you can’t know if a Survivor sees it. At least with scratch marks, you can strategize a bit, but there’s not much you can do with a red stain besides, well, get rid of it.
I get your point about it always being there, but I was thinking it would be helpful more along the lines of mind-gaming.
You know, the survivor just went into the shack. If I take another step then they’ll see my stain in the doorway and might jump the window - let’s try.
-
I recently posted an idea for a “mini game” killer. The killer draws a survivor into a “Mindscape” - which is a timed 1-on-1 minimap where the survivor is exposed and has to either survive until the time runs out or complete certain objectives.
During the time that the killer and survivor are minimap dueling, their characters are controlled by bots in the main game.
If you want full details, you can find my post about The Dreamcatcher here:

In-game the description doesn't mention about it needing to hit with a basic attack.

But when I'm playing as Leatherface and I chainsaw the survivor, I notice that it doesn't make them drop their item.
Yes, it’s just for basic attacks. Leatherface has an add-on that’ll make them drop items from chainsaw hits though.

Ooooooh! You know how Bubba can wear new faces if he kills enough of a certain survivor? What if we did the same thing with zombies!?
Raise Blendette and Dweet from the grave to hunt down their former allies! Wooooo!

On a slightly different but related topic, DBD has built a significant portion of its identity around Dark Mist. We have mist-altering reagents for offerings. We have “fog whisperers” on social media. Devs sign off with “see you in the fog.”
But what we DON’T have is any actual fog!
Ok, fine, there’s sooooome. A little plume here or there to freshen your ankles. Certainly nothing that affects the game. New players aren’t going to think “oh my, so creepy - all this fog!” It’s more of seeing a plume and thinking “something moved. Let’s go see what it is. Oh ,it’s gone.”
It just seems so weak as an integral piece of the game’s identity and lore. It’s like some post-apocalypse game building itself up around the random piles of pebbles and rocks that are really nothing more than scenery.

I agree, I don't even have to play as the character to know that just from being on the receiving end of a punch of from seeing through videos, it almost sounds like a sound effect should be placed there. Even if it's just some sort of placeholder gushing sound like when Huntress hits a hatchet. That way it would actually give that feedback of "yeeeaaa, I'm doing damage to their body."
My thoughts exactly! A sound effect would go a long way! A “squish” of blood or a “crack” of bone or even a comic-book-style “bam” or “pow”!
-
@SwampDaddy said:
I don't. I think the punch is frickin' hilarious and makes him really fun to play. Overall, Nemesis is very fun to play albeit being broken.
Oh I agree that the punch is fantastic! It’s a lot of fun smashing a survivor in the face. The problem is that when you actually hit them, there’s not any feedback - or not ENOUGH feedback - to make it feel like you actually connected with them. I don’t know if we need a sound effect or some additional animation or something, but that’s my take on it.
-
One of my zombies was halfway up a staircase at Lampkin Lane when I chased a survivor up said staircase.
Did not end well for the survivor.

PS4 here.
It’s regularly occurring throughout the game since today’s chapter release. For me it’s getting to the point of being game-breaking! Doesn’t matter which role I play - I’ll end up spiking right when I’m aiming for a tentacle hit, or I’ll end up taking a cheap hits from the killer. It seems to happen most during chases / survivor-killer interactions.
I read earlier someone said it mainly happens with Nemesis. Can’t say I’ve really gotten to test this statement with other killers today. I’ve only played as and against Nemesis all day.
