I agree representation is important.
But as someone who's bi, I could care less about such things in a game like DbD. I've never chosen a character in a game because they are "similar" to me. I choose characters that I think are badass. I relegate characters that are like me to games where I can create said character, like RPGs.
Certain games are better for this kind of stuff than others. Case in point, Cyberpunk is only a few days away.

Oh I don't, I said at the end it doesn't bother me and sometimes it's funny.
But what does bother me, is it never used to be this bad and I made a lot of good friends on here. It just seems to hard to do that now, everybody feels so hard done to all the time.
It's always been this bad imo.

Just stop caring about what survivors say and play how you want to play.

No one is forcing you to run it. Perhaps you should just figure out how to break chases more effectively.

I don't remember this being implemented at all. I've played since the game came out and this was never added or if it was it was immediately removed. The thing they changed to help with facecamping was unhook angles as you used to only be able to unhook from the way the hook was facing. They also increased the time on hook from 45 to 60 seconds per stage a while ago to also combat that. There is a perk that stops hook timer but no one uses it because it's not always relevant.
It never made it past the public beta testing phase because people abused it so heavily. It was a thing, but it was never put into the full game.

Pretty new, I've been playing for only three years.
I had done three Generators, my team did 0. The hatch spawned between two close exit gates forming a triangle. I had carried the team. I am surprised you take the Killer's side, unless you are a killer main. The killer found the hatch and camped it since he was in easy reach of the two exit gates. He should have closed the hatch or hunted for me. Instead he camped all three routes of escape. I think camping the hatch by a killer is as toxic as tea bagging at the exit. Just play the game and don't try to add strife to your opponent's game.
Not a killer main whatsoever. The fact that people immediately turn to this argument when someone disagrees with them will always remain one of this community's greatest mysteries.
It's your own fault for not doing gens while he camped. You fell for the bait he set up and lost. That's all this is. Even if the exit gates were close together, you have a whole 3 minutes to open them during the collapse. Difficult, but not impossible.
Playing the game using intended mechanics is not toxic. Just because you don't like the tactic he used doesn't mean it's toxic. This term is so overused it's lost its actual meaning.

He had not started the shutting animation. The killer was being a jerk and looking forward to shutting it when I found it. I caught him off guard, snuck up behind him. He did not see me until I jumped in the air to escape. My animation had already started. He closed it after I was already leaving, so his action canceled my earlier one.
The reason this change was made is because of hatch standoffs. I'm assuming you are relatively new to the game. Before this, if the killer swung, the Survivor could escape. If the Survivor tried to escape, the Killer would grab them. Both sides would literally just stand there staring at each other for up to 4 hours straight, it had happened multiple times.
If you saw him standing there, then you made a mistake, a missplay. The correct action was to GO DO GENS. If the Killer camps the hatch, the gens are free to complete. If he closes the hatch, the Gates get powered and you can open them. You literally played into the Killer's hands and you expect it to go any different?
If you did this before the change, he would have just grabbed you midjump and you would have died anyway. Literally nothing changed.
OK. This is what happens when you rely on the hatch. It's entirely your own fault.

Embracing toxicity is not justifying it. Calling taunting specifically to anger someone 'culture' just outs you as a toxic person.
You can't be toxic by teaebagging, and you are choosing to be angered by it by thinking it is toxic.
Calling me toxic because we disagree is a logical fallacy due to your lack of ability to create a counterargument.
Been playing online games for almost 2 decades now. If you think teabagging is toxic, honestly, you should take a step back and reevalute a few things.
-
This is a pretty common term used in a lot of games.
Free means something doesn't take much effort, or is just given to the player.
The term is used a lot in fighting games in reference to how some matchups are "free" for a particular character. Like Guile vs Zangief in SF4. That matchup is considered Free for Guile because there isn't much Gief can do to get in on Guile, so the match takes very little effort on the Guile player's part.
You're taking it way to literally for absolutely no reason. The term makes perfect sense.

Its toxic behavior. Actively abusing a game mechanic to taunt someone isn't okay.
Teabagging is not toxic, I'm sorry but it just isn't.
If teabagging is toxic, then so are emotes in Fortnite, the Humiliation points you get for emoting in DOOM 2016 after killing someone (which also has a teabag emote where your weapon disappears and your guy does the crouching animation), Halo 3 where the body moves up and down when you teabag someone, and Overwatch, where Mercy has a literal teabag emote where she dips a teabag in a teacup.
Sorry, but teabagging isn't toxic and some games even embrace it. It's a part of online gaming culture.
The sooner you realize this and get over it the sooner you'll stop caring.
-
What is it with people and wanting to implement punishments for people teabagging?
Is this really that tilting for some people? Jesus man lol
-
If he activates the shutting animation you cannot get out. If both of you are standing over it, his action prioritizes yours.
It's to prevent hatch standoffs. It should remain this way too. Survivors have enough bones as it is. The killer deserves to be thrown one every now and then.

@DarKaron said:
They're actually working on grabbing now, as a matter of fact!
The current problem is that grabs, similarly to hits, are registered on the Killer side, and not the Survivor side.
So when the Killer grabs someone, the server does a quick check.
During this check, a Survivor often realizes what's happening and panics, hopping off their current objective in favor of running, which tells the Killer "Nope. No good. Close, but no cigar."
And then you get the stupid stun you get when you go for the grab but just swipe at the air instead.
Sounds to me like they should implement a rollback system, like many fighting games use.
But that might be a little complex for a game that isn't a 2D fighter.

Don't strawman me sophist, that wasn't what I said at all.
If matchmaking was fixed bad players would face other bad players and could win because everyone else is also bad.
Currently bad players often face good players, meaning they won't win unless they cheat.
Horrible argument.
The only way you get better is by getting beat by better players. Choosing to cheat is no one's fault but your own.

it wasn't a scam because BHVR didn't intend on discounting the items, otherwise they would have gone on sale discounted to begin with.
They are incompetent, not malicious.
I'm not sure I agree here.
This is a classic manipulation tactic developers use to sucker people into buying something before the inevitable backlash they know they will receive before throwing a bone to the community as a form of "good will."
-
My story of disappointment begins with spending over 500 hours with this game to earn Legacy skins, only for BHVRs poor saving system to wipe my data and for me to lose every ounce of hardwork I put into it, including the skins I dumped a small portion of my life for.
And they continue to refuse to correct the issue for whatever reason they choose not to be transparent about, despite the fact the issue is entirely their fault.
There's a reason I fell out of this game, and it's because they proved they don't care about their long time playerbase.
-

Hey look, it's exactly as I said in my thread. They wanted the stats and they suckered people right into it. Now they can use this in their investor meetings. Sweet.
A good portion of these players likely aren't even to play the game, including myself. They just want the bonus.
-
If you don't think this wasn't a calculated move, I have sad news for you.
This is a common tactic done by plenty of companies, where they implement the worst possible version of something knowing they can sucker a few people into spending their cash, only to backtrack after the inevitable backlash.
This isn't new nor is it surprising. BHVR deserves no thanks for this. It's manipulation at its finest.
-
Considering they won't put in the effort to give back Legacy to those who lost it because of their own horrible save features, why would you be surprised they continue to show lack of care towards the community?

Especially considering I'm on ps4 and it takes about a minute just to put the code in. I don't see the harm in having a code work for 10-15 minutes instead of giving 10 away at a time. Pretty stingy, IMO.

Kind of debatable. Game has gone forward in some areas but still even more backwards in others and still nowhere in other areas.
Nurse is no longer king, queen and dictator -- but the only reason that's the case is because they made her so frustrating to play that literally nobody wants to play her due to how clunky she feels. And the meta hasn't shifted any at all. Same was more or less done to Billy.
Very true about Billy. He's pretty much all I play whenever I actually play Killer and he feels so gutted now, for no real reason either.

@[Deleted User] said:
Honestly, if people want change, and want the changes to stick, they should stop playing and supporting the game until the changes happen. It's the only language companies speak when it comes to this kind of thing.
That would be things like, not playing until optimization and bugs are fixed, not playing until the grind is reduced, etc.
Doubt many would do that, but eh. Seeing negatives in the people playing on steam charts every month will at the very least usually scare companies into action when the criticism of their decisions starts threatening their bottom line.
I took a 2 year hiatus and things have gotten better gameplay wise, but not really anywhere else.
-
Welcome to DbD, where there are literally no rules against tunneling and camping. It's part of the game.

For starters: Battlefield is running on Frostbite Engine which has been developed inhouse, fitting to what it need's to do. Epic games is getting better, but has just started to optimize their engine for open world scenarios.
I am not ignoring anything, nor do i say that DBD is at it's limits with optimization. Porting games onto different platforms can take a great deal of effort in coding and every platform is and works different. They will sort out the issues eventually.
The Unreal Engine is by far one of the most optimized and amazing engines on the market.
DbD is also not an open world game, not even close. Again, you asked for a comparison and you're strawmanning stuff that doesn't really pertain to the issue.
Not to mention, if you wanna go the open world route, Fortnite has a massive map, 100 players, and often times similar large scale combat in modes like 50v50 even 2 years ago and runs with basically 0 problems even on console, and can handle huge large scale events like concerts and trippy visuals all with little to no actual impact on the performance of the game.
So again, no excuses really.
-
Doesn't this map have like a 42% survival rate for survivors or something?
That's pretty balanced all things considered.

progression from the time its linked to unlinked, problem is that your account now has 2 lots of progression in their system. so if for example the devs choose to roll back the affected accounts to before the problem was caused, you will get all your currency back but your game progression will also go back in time.
Would be nice if it was just officially addressed, along with what they plan on doing / attempting to do to resolve it.
Ah ok, cause I just linked it today but have friends I play with on PS4.

For starters: Disc space has absolutely ZERO to do with performance.
I could make a whole "for starters" series, but i have no time for that.
They gave you a comparison and you decided to ignore it. I'll give another one.
Battlefield manages to have 64 players in a game with massively scaled wars that still don't manage to cause noticeable framerate dips, even back on older consoles like the 360.
Need anymore?
