  • For anyone who is curious, here are the screenshots of not only my L3 Head, but of the glitch of lost progress in action.

    Steam Community: Dead by Daylight.
    Steam Community: Dead by Daylight.

Why am I not being treated like I stuck with this game from the start? I really don't understand BHVR. I need a proper response.

  • @Pepsidot said:

I was about to respond to your comment on the other legacy related post but for some reason that was closed and the recent comments were deleted.

Regardless, I'll copy and paste what I was going to say here:

    +1

In the recent Q&A section, I've asked if they would restore legacy on a ONE by ONE basis by checking our steam prestige achievements. I'm only asking for 1 set of legacy back from this method because the prestige achievements only prove we prestiged 1 character 1/2/3 times before the deadline.

It's the bare minimum they could do with the least effort. After all this time I'd be happy with just getting one of my L3 skins back.

The process would be really simple too. We simply:

    • Make sure our steam achievements are public
    • Choose one character to receive legacy back on (e.g Claudette).
    • Send a link to our steam profile to support (or our steam64id).

    The support team then:

    • Confirms we prestiged 1/2/3 times before the deadline.
    • Gives L1/L2/L3 to our chosen character.

It's so simple. Hopefully the developers will take this into consideration, although I'm sure I will just get a blanket statement if they even answer it at all on their next stream :/.

Would you support what I suggested (only getting 1 set of legacy back based on achievements)?

P.S It's cool to see a familiar face. I remember you were on the steam forums a lot before people migrated to this forum.

I used to practically live on both the Steam forums and these before I just fell out of the game for various reasons, the Legacy issue being the main one.

I highly doubt they will end up doing anything because they just don't want to deal with the responsibility this would entail. It's a shame, considering many developers would go out of their way to assist players who lost content outside of their control.

I see no reason why they cannot restore one Legacy if the person can prove it, I only have proof of my L3 Meg Head so that's all I would probably get back anyway.

A recent thread about someone mentioning the hypocrisy of giving back Event items but not Legacy seems to have been recently deleted. BHVR just kinda wants to bury this issue and act like it never happened, which goes a long way in showing how they actually care (or lack thereof) about this problem. I grinded for nearly 30 hours straight to eek out my L3 on the last day only to have problems outside of my control take away my hard work.

And BHVR refuses to assist no matter how much one supports the game. It's honestly really sad. This tone deaf response ignores what we are really asking.

Not for Legacy to become available again, but to give proper customer support to those who deserve it.

  • No. You have the choice to help or abandon your team. You can absolutely prioritize your own survival and leave your mates behind. In fact, I used to do it quite often and would happily rank up regardless of my team's frustration.

People who get angry just don't understand the point of the game, and that's your OWN survival. The other survivors are there to be used as tools to assist that end. That's why saving people is a good idea, it can keep the Killer off YOUR back while you attempt to escape. The more people, the less likely you are the one to be found.

That said, if they are dead to rights or you simple don't feel like risking it, that's 100% ok and anyone who says otherwise is simply salty.

  • Considering there was a time where 80% of Survivors were using Self-Care, any Survivor that uses that imo is a huge noobcake.

Go learn some programming. I think you'll find it enlightening.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1326433#Comment_1326433

You mentioned complaints and how the devs don't address them, I chose an example to show that complaints don't mean something is unbalanced or needs changing. NOED is simply the best example because it's been nerfed twice, yet the complaints remain. The problem isn't the perk itself, it's that some people just don't want to counter it. The same principle applies to the majority of complaints.

Programming is difficult (Computer Science major) but some fixes are rather simple.

There are bugs in Master Chief Collection on PC that fans essentially fixed overnight, yet the devs can't seem to fix them at all. One is the fact that Elites don't dual wield in Halo 2s campaign anymore. It's as simple as ticking a box in a map editor, yet the devs claim this is something that is hard to fix.

I highly doubt there is extravagant code going on in DbD that would even come close to comparing to Halo's code. I'm willing to bet DbD programmers overlook issues quite often, just as 343 does even though they are a much larger team. It isn't really a matter of it being hard to fix, it's a matter of them actually doing it regardless of it being difficult or not, like 343 chooses to overlook easily solved problems the community has solved.

  • No, they just need to rebalance the game around teamwork.

Example, I'm sure all of you have heard of Resident Evil Resistance by now. By design, that game is intended to be played with a coordinated team and the game is balanced accordingly around that aspect, mainly through the fact there is a time limit that goes up or down depending on the actions of both the Mastermind and the Survivors.

You CANNOT carry in Resistance, you pretty much need your entire team if you wish to win, the only time you can leave your team behind is the very end when the exit gate is open.

DbD was initially designed with a lot of unknown variables in mind, and those aspects are still in place to this day.

Rather than nerf or penalize SWF, they need to rebalance the entire game in order to accommodate the fact most people play in teams. How they would do this, I have no idea. But a dynamic time limit similar to Resistance could go a long way I feel.

    Would also solve Hostage situations.

Theres some skill involved but yeah its really silly to think looping is harder to master than most of the killers on the roster

    "Some skill"

That skill just amounts to making the right decision at the right time, which is more or less a guessing game when you have an LOS blocker. Otherwise it's one of those things that is impossible to mess up unless you get way too greedy.

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

You think running in circles is harder than learning nurse?

People actually still think looping takes skill?

  • No, any long time player will tell you that looping was a strategy that was developed over many hours of playing the game. This is why it has taken them so long to adjust it in terms of gameplay, it was never an intended thing to begin with.

That said, they have tried to incorporate it into the gameplay and balancing now because that's just how people play the game. It is what it is at this point. You can still play without looping, but it is far harder to do so now because it is finally being addressed as a main gameplay mechanic.

  • The fact that people are still complaining about the same things gives me hope that this game will never change.

    Oh DbD, you're a pillar aren't you?

  • Tier 0 cause I haven't played this game in nearly a year and just decided to awaken from my slumber.

  • @PrincessPoop said:

So lemme get this straight... you dislike the rift but you are fine with what we currently have in the store? Cosmetics in the store cost $10 a pop. The rift costs $10, has multiple cosmetics and charms, and if you complete it, you get your auric cells rebated. You also get extra bloodpoints and lore for completing the challenges.

So what exactly do you dislike about the rift? So many people just keep saying they don’t like it but don’t explain why.

You're paying for the privilege for more content, in a game you already bought.

That itself is enough to turn me off of the game. Sorry to break it to you, but this game is monetized out the wazoo. Paid cosmetics, paid killers, and now a paid Battle Pass, all in a game you have to pay for to play in the first place.

Is it so much to ask that I actually get the content in the game by just playing? Look at games like Monster Hunter World, who's DLC Iceborne is essentially a whole new game, which releases new content all the time for free, Rajang just came out a few days ago, or even CTR Nitro Fueled. Even CTR has a Battle Pass, but it just comes with the game, and nothing in it is ever truly exclusive, it can all come back.

Even Black Ops 4 with its disgusting pay to win antics and loot boxes even includes its battle passes for free. You know something is wrong when CoD has a more appealing system in terms of Battle Passes.

Fornite and Apex are fine, as they are free to play games. You already have an entry fee in DbD, on top of needing to pay for certain killers.

This game has sold over 5 million copies. That's bare minimum 150 million dollars BHVR has made on entry fee. If you're going to seriously argue that the additional content this game has gotten has required a budget higher than that of Red Dead Redemption 2, I think I'll just giggle.

Speaking of Red Dead, even the Online of that game has a Battle Pass. But you can earn the Gold in game to get access to it, and buy the time you actually get that gold amount, you'll have already completed the Pass, and you essentially just get your 35 gold back for free instantly, since it is on the Pass. Unless you can get the Premium Pass in this game through some form of gameplay, then even Red Dead Online has a more appealing pass. That's actually sad.

This crap is just playing on people's psychological fear of missing out, while offering a hefty grind in return. Absolutely disgusting.

    I totally disagree.

There have been TONS of great killer perks. Most just require a bit of creativity when it comes to builds, and an adjust to how you would normally play. Also some perks are better on some killers than others.

Surge at the moment is fantastic on Plague.

Problem there is that Plague is doo-doo lmao

  • The thing is, a sequel would allow them to rectify issues that are inherent within this game's code and engine.

That, or I suppose they could relaunch the game at some point in the future, with more content and overhauls to the game.

But I think that's just wishful thinking.

  • You get more, but the bonus amount you get is so insignificant that you'll likely need to end up buying another small pack to get you to the next item.

When games do this, the bonus amount isn't actually meant to get you anything extra most of the time, unless you buy another one of the bundles that give an extra amount.

Basically, it just makes you feel like you're getting a deal when really you're not. Same goes for how everything in the shop is labeled as "10%" off.

They aren't 10% off cause that's how much they always cost. It's just a psychological game.

  • How is it not dodgeable anymore?

  • People trying to control how the game is played to avoid the inherent design flaws that come with the game is one of the reasons I stopped playing.

At this point, I've taken it that literally everything in this game is legitimate. Anyone who tries to impose self made rules, insult, or belittle those that play in a particular way are the truly toxic ones.

It doesn't make you toxic for camping, that is an inherent design flaw you are using to your advantage. That's legit.

It makes you toxic to belittle and insult the camper. Nothing is illegal in this game aside from glitches.

    Anything else is fair game.

  • Hold up what's going on with Nurse now?

  • Ah I take a break from this place, come back, and always see the same types of posts.

Never change DbD community. Never change.

    Looping takes no skill. Yes.

They changed the vaults because looping takes no skill.

Do yourself a favour, look in the mirror and tell yourself "Looping takes no skill"

Except what they changed took no skill to do.

    It was an exploit.

Looping currently still takes no skill.

  • @Mifian you quote the website page to show it is a team game.

But I'll quote the Steam store page, which directly states you have the choice of helping your team or playing selfishly to save yourself.

    This isn't a team game.

  • @BBQnDemogorgon said:

@weirdkid5 They'd die if shot with a bfg tho. They'd turn to dust then be revived for a new trial.

Unless they just can't die at all in the lore but i doubt that. Hallowed Blight hurt Trapper in the videos but he came back stronger.

They can feel pain but they can't actually be damaged or killed. The Entity can control all aspects of its realm.

@MegaWaffle I guess you dont know your DbD lore lol

  • If you play a game online, it's gonna be unforgiving to new players.

This goes for pretty much every single online game I've ever played.

  • Considering Killers can't die, it wouldn't do #########.

I wouldn't buy it. This game will be my only investment in BVHR. As of right now, it's proving to be woefully underwhelming. If they sold the game to another, more competent company that was more customer friendly, then yes, I might consider buying a second installment of this game. If it's still in BVHR's hands, I will not purchase it. Period.

    This exactly.

That would be easier said than done, since Freddy is a licensed character and any new cosmetics for him need to be approved first. Beyond that, though, we wouldn't want to bring back legacy out of the blue like that. People who earned the original legacy had to put in a ton of work for it, meanwhile Freddy players would just have to own Freddy before a certain date. There's a bit of a mismatch there, and if anything, it would just be seen as a cheap way to boost sales.

Ok but what about restoring Legacy for those that needed to put in that ton of work, such as myself?

  • @NMCKE said:

Yikes, this is an actual problem, did you try sending a support ticket?

I have, they still respond with the same "we can't provide info at this time."

Also I find it funny this thread doesn't get put on the front page when someone posts anymore.

I agree that the change would be fair, but I don't think it is needed.

No other perk is put under the same scrutiny as DS is, and that's because balance isn't the driving factor. I'd rather have stats justify it, rather than simple gripes.

I dont think it'll make a massive difference, it'll just make the quality of life for the Killer a little less frustrating.

  • @ceridwen309 said:

Nothing is stored locally. The save files and game files are saved to the servers.

If only you guys did this when the game came out, so that way I'd still have my Legacy you've yet to restore.

  • I've been playing this game for 3 years, and I've never had a single issue with Nurse, even when she originally had 3 blinks as part of her base kit.

Just sounds like my fellow Survivors need to get better at the game. And that's a fact.

Look, I said it's a fact. That means it's a fact right, I dont even have to provide evidence?

In game report system is not needed at all then? Or some offenses are still valid to report via in game report system?

You just dont need to report for ragequits. Everything else should be reported in game.

  • The best way to counter him is to ignore his nonsense and just power through the gens.

It takes time to wake up, time you could just spend repairing.

You just have to deal with his BS if you decide to stay asleep.

  • @Dehitay said:

Actually, now that I think about it, it would be freaking hilarious if they gave him a head cosmetic that did that nodding off thing that survivors do when they're dream transitioning.

    Lmao Noodle Neck Freddy

  • Or, people can just stop being toxic and fix their behavioral problems.

  • I escape more often than not during the EGC as a Survivor.

It's supposed to be hard mate.

  • @ScottJund said:

I completely agree it is balanced and don't want the perk touched.

That being said, I've complained about being DS'd 4 times in a match before because I didn't even tunnel. In fact, I played so well I downed people so fast their counters were still active and I got DS'd by not tunneling. That was annoying.

All they need to do is make it so if you hook someone else, the activation window for DS ceases until that person gets hooked again.

  • Not before they restore everyone who lost their legacy via save file corruption.

As former fighting games player I can say that 9 frames is a huge windows. I was maining GGXX:R Testament and was champion of MFA'2005, FRC windows (tech cancel of moves) could be 3 frames at certain characters.

Yeah I mean short hops in Smash Ultimate are all 3 frame inputs.

Even a single frame can make or break a loss.

  • Considering CTR Nitro Fueled and Apex Legends Season 2 came out not long ago, DbD is FAR down on my list in terms of games I want to play.

I prefer games that actually add meaningful content to the game and fix bugs that have been prevalent for a while.

Yknow, games made by a dev team that actually cares.

  • @Redd said:

I wish we still had the downvote button just for threads like this.

For anyone who doesn't want to watch the video, the supposed complaint is that in this person's testing they believe post-change Enduring recovers from pallets 9 frames slower than pre-change Enduring, an amount of time extremely hard for humans to even recognize the difference between.

You clearly never played fighting games if you think 9 frames isn't a huge difference.

That translates to nearly 1/6th of a second if we are talking 60fps.

That small difference can mean making it to the next window or not. This is bigger than you think it is.

  • Solo survivor is the only way I play this game lol

  • If I recall correctly, an old devstream mentioned that there IS a way to escape the realm. It isn't in the game, but the lore for it exists.

I can't remember who but someone said one of the addons or items gives a "clue" to this. I never figured it out.

  • @twistedmonkey said:

The non heal meta is a by product of the healing nerf, it's what people asked for one health state only through SC or healing others, now players do it it's a problem.

Be careful what you wish for as it doesn't always work out as intended.

Punishing someone for making a choice a lot of players asked for isn't the best idea and its another perk buff which would widen the gap between swf and solo as solo would suffer more as they can't meet up to heal as easy.

Thanatobia may be a better perk if was kept at the currrent stats but on top of that it also debuffed the use of perks which aid you when injured so there is no benefit to them at all.

Adding more gen time with a perk isn't really the answer we need as for one it becomes highly monotomous sitting pressing M1 for longer and secondly it removes the possibility of another true objective coming to the game as it would need looked at again if that happened.

Nah adding more gen time isn't the solution.

I'm gonna say that optimal squads were already not healing anyway. More people are just not healing now because of the nerf you mentioned, but the potential for what is more common now has always been present.

This is exactly why I say the game must be balanced around higher skilled players. Welcome to the inherent flaws of DbD ladies and gents.

  • Just to clarify, I don't DC. I just dodge the problem altogether.

Or just play solo survivor. Which I prefer to do anyway.

  • "More challenging"

Yeah if you mean in an unfair way that busts the balance in a way the devs didn't really intend.

SWF voice comms give the Survivors like 10+ free perks, while nullifying over half of Killer perks.

    I'm good bro
