  • Huntress is arguably better than Billy, and Hag is also pretty top tier in the right hands.

The thing is that Ruin completely destroys new players.

So? They need to get better.

Can we stop balancing things for noobs please.

  • @bubbascal said:

Killers either need mobility or map wide gen pressure to survive at purple and red ranks. Otherwise they get genrushed into oblivion.

Ruin is a (necessary) band-aid for 80-85% of the Killers in this game who don't have any of those. If they lose Ruin, they might as well DC.

Billy has immense speed and instadowns, you can't beat him without a vault or window.

Nurse, while not possessing as much mobility as Billy, can end loops extremely quickly. And she can still move much quicker than other Killers. Plus she can teleport up and down entire floors.

Spirit has mobility and insane mindgame potential, which is what makes her top tier.

Every other Killer is very dependent on Ruin, add-ons or perks. Pig has SOME gen pressure with her RBTs but still not enough mobility.

The devs just don't know how to balance new killers, plain and simple. It's why the original killers are still the best in the game. With the exception of Spirit, the ONE time they did something right.

    Original Killers are the best?

Lol Trapper and Wraith can't hear you from the bottom of the tier list bro

  • He's pretty good if you use his Shroud for mindgames more than trying to Stalk

  • Pros: It's kinda fun

Cons: Makes you more susceptible to migraines and depression

I am not criticizing, the power is to stalk and make "mental" games with power but ... what grace is that they take away or disable the power of a killer, leaving it only to M1?

Because you were punished for not playing effectively.

If GF had infinite 0 TR for as long as he wanted and no red stain as long as he wanted he'd be OP.

Im cool with making his cooldown only 20 seconds again, but then revealing thing isn't a problem if you're smart.

You mean that the power of GF is not stalker? So is a killer just M1? and scare?

You seem to be underestimating the ability to turn off your TR and Red stain in the middle of a chase.

Why dont you give it a shot before you criticize my advice?

Nope, I play on console... probably would take a ridiculously long time anyways. Yes, I’m a noob. I’m addressing that by saying flat out I’m new to the game (although I’ve seen several gameplays, still one). And to answer your other post, I have been using Ghosti-Boy... or as his game name is, Ghost Face. I’m not teleporting to reach them. I’m literally just acting like I’m going to their side, then quickly returning back to where I was to see them vault into my grips. It’s fairly simple process, too.

Again, you are also playing with noob Survivoes that don't know how to loop properly.

You really shouldn't act like what you are currently seeing is even close to optimal looping.

Great, I also have the PS4 version. I can gladly show you how painful looping can really be. You are saying "just go around" or fake it out, but you are playing with idiot Survivors that don't watch behind them. Mindgames work, but they aren't easy like you act like them to be. You can be mindgamed yourself.

Some loops are too long for this to work. If you were to try this against me, I would just turn back the other way. I watch behind me while I run so I know what you're trying to do. The moment you stop to go the other way, you're giving me more ground and actually doing exactly what I want you to do. Even if you turn back around, all im going to do is run to a different location. I never vault unless I actually see you go to the other side.

What you're doing works against noobs.

You are facing noobs. You are not facing people that know how to loop.

  • You playing on Steam?

I invite you to play a private match with me and see just how long it actually takes for you to catch me.

  • You really shouldn't act like you know what you're talking about when you just got the game and you're playing with the lowest Ranks and worst Survivors in the game.

Get to the red ranks and come back and tell us how fine looping is against Killers like Wraith or pretty much any Killer that can't teleport.

  • Honestly he became a really good Killer the moment they gave him no red stain in Shroud mode.

That itself is enough to make him a considerable threat, if the GF is smart enough to use Shroud once LoS is broken.

Jungle Gyms are like a free hit if you know how to play them I'd suggest watching a video on how to or trying to learn how to on your own vaulting through them is not the way to go.

Jungle gyms are a free hit if the Survivor doesn't watch behind themselves like an idiot.

Otherwise that can be a pretty painful experience to deal with. I know Steve said he gets around Bamboozle by outplaying at tiles.

Outplay is the key word. You aren't always going to outplay people.

That said, Bamboozle won't help much at double windows, cause sometimes only 1 window is enough.

  • In the legion's power description it says killer instinct doesn't activate on survivor in deep wound.

No, that's probably just a mechanic in place to prevent you from snowballing as Legion.

  • Nope.

I dont understand how people get a placebo of Killers feeling faster. They all feel the same, aside from the slow ones.

  • Again, if you are focusing the stalk, you are playing GF incorrectly.

Of course Myers is better at stalking. GF stalking is really only secondary to his main ability.

Being able to turn off his TR and red stain midchase to confuse the Survivors. Stalking is just icing on the cake.

Focusing on stalking alone, you're gonna have a bad time. 3000 hours mean nothing on a fresh Killer with a new playstyle.

A strategy that has been working very solid for me is sticking to the edges of the map, and if it's an open field/forest map, utilize the talk grass/cattail/corn stalks to my advantage while crouching when I do my patrolling. Ghostface seems to be most effective as a Single-Target Rushdown Stealth Killer. (Yes, I threw these together, I'm not a pro.) I've successfully made it to Rank 7 using mostly Ghostface and have had very few losses with him. I usually lose to a well coordinated team (and occasionally pallet looping and flashlight spamming until I figured out how to shut that down). Basically, when you start attacking someone, you don't let them get away without getting them hooked. He requires a lot more mind games and stealth than other killers, but when used right, is BRUTAL. He even has a perk that helps him in a chase (albeit specific) where you can see someone's aura when they decide to do a rushed action. It demotes people from vaulting their way to a hiding spot. There's also add-ons you can slap on Ghostface that make it so the survivor has to be practically up your ass to detect you, which by then is usually too late for them. The only buff Ghostface needs is some kinda add-on that'll help him destroy pallets faster. Getting Trapper's is kind of a pain for me. I can't stand playing Trapper.

You don't need to play Trapper to level him up.

Just dump BP into him without playing him.

If they reveal GF, it means their magic 3rd person camera that was never meant to counter Killer Powers had line of sight while they stayed safe 10000000% behind a wall without even the slightest shred of anything showing.

Because of this camera, Ghost Face's power should NEVER have been made with a 'just look at him' counter in mind. This will ALWAYS benefit the players who have a floating 360 degree view.

This is WHY Killers don't have a third-person camera; it's a handicap. It makes them harder to play.

Which means this camera is a hard counter to any attempt to ever stealth as GF.

Which means he should not be countered by just. bloody. looking. at. HIM!

Whether they have a 3rd person camera or not, you still can't see GF if he directly approaches you from an angle that blocks significant LoS. It takes nearly 2 seconds to break him out of stealth. That honestly should be plenty of time to get into cover, and if not, it means you were playing poorly and not in an area with good cover.

I know what having a 3rd person camera means. But in order to get such an angle in the first place, your body needs to be exposed at least 20% from any given angle.

If you aren't aware of all possible LoS angles people can get on you whole you are in Shroud, you shouldn't be surprised when you get knocked out of stealth.

  • @Eguzky except it isn't like Pig stealth at all.

First of all, you should never actually crouch as GF.

Second, he has full movement speed when in Shroud mode. Pig is super slow while crouched.

Thirdly, the fact you can just turn off your red stain for free means that you can easily mindgame around LoS blockers much more effectively than Pig could ever hope to achieve, mostly because you don't have a mega loud sound effect that gives away your attack.

You really shouldnt be playing GF like any other stealth killer.

He can do them. You just need to become a better GF player. Im running into several extremely effective GF players that make him seem better than Myers.

You shouldn't always stalk with GF simply because your full speed while having no TR means you can easily get gen grabs, which will always be faster than stalking for a oneshot.

If they revealed you, they clearly had a line of sight on you. Im just saying.

Well I guess since your a DBD God and I'm trash, it's allll me right.? Question tho: Do or HAVE you played this on PS4? If your comparing PC play to what I'm talking about, then what's the point? Have you recently played GF on ps4, where everyone is in party chat pointing out where the killer is. That's why I'm instantly spotted. Pretty easy to spot GF when someone is telling you his location. How do you counter that? You don't even have a clue what's going on until it's already happened. That's the main reason I main Freddy because they can't see me, just hear me unless their asleep. I don't play on PC, personally I enjoy the comfort of my recliner in my living room. Console gaming is pretty powerful anyways unless the devs don't use it to its full optimization. *COUGH COUGH*

I never claim to be a DbD God. Calm down buddy, I'm not saying you're trash. Im just saying you're playing GF ineffectively. That's it. Relax lol

And PC is arguably harder to play GF because the skill of Survivors is much higher than that on PS4, and yes, I play both versions.

People use Discord and voice chat on PC too man. Voice comms destroy any stealth Killer, this is an inherent problem with SWF in general, not really GF. He just has it hard because of this.

The way you need to play GF is by sticking to the outskirts and always approaching generators from off the beaten path, even it it takes longer. If you are being exposed, you arent being stealthy. You aren't invisible when playing GF.

This means you need to actually keep yourself hidden through LoS blockers. Almost every good GF I play against doesn't actually Stalk, they use Shroud midchase to play mindgames, or if they do use it out of the chase, they only use it to quickly approach a gen to get a grab, which is always better than stalking for a oneshot.

Keep in mind I'm telling you what I've seen be effective as a Survivor. Everytime I face a GF that focuses on Stalking, it's always an easy game because the GF player is a timid little Killer that cowers away like Boo whenever someone sees him, instead of bearing down by suddenly coming around corners with 0 warning.

You have full movement speed when you are in Shroud. You should utilize it. I don't know how many times I need to reiterate it.

If you are being revealed constantly, you are playing GF poorly. Survivors will never see a good GF coming because he doesn't approach from wide angles or open areas. You can literally stalk from 48 meters away dude.

  • Except you didn't lose, you killed two of them

the fuq are you talking about , are you deaf or sth . he is still loud . if he was nerfed much in stalking he should be atleast in crouch mode totally silent , else he is dogshitt

How is he still loud? There is no noise that emits at 8 meters anymore.

Further more, you can only hear his clothes when he's right in top of you, and only when he's actually moving. If he's standing still and stalking, he's completely silent.

  • @BeanieBoyBob you do realize you can get an early hit before you even start the chase? That in itself already puts you at a major advanatge. Why waste time stalking, when you can instantly start any chase with the survivor injured and never even give them a chance to avoid that first hit?

Again, you should use his Shroud for mindgames in the chase. Gens dont pop before you down someone if you end the chase super early by turning off your red stain and messing up the Survivor, potentially making them even waste a pallet.

Wasting time by focusing oneshot is your own problem.

Well for one, if you actually paid attention to what I first said, I CAN'T STAY in stealth w GF, so that's why I run M&A to get closer smart guy. I'm always spotted by someone so there goes my zero TR. And I don't run it w pig, I run it with Myers and sometimes Freddy. Why in the blue hell would I run it with pig? You just crouch, and even if your spotted, your TR doesn't activate. My gameplay is fine when not using broke killers. I main Freddy and Myers and manage to stay between red and purple rank. Of course my bests are Billy and spirit, but that gets boring. Nurse is a nightmare for me though on PS4. Just can't get the teleport hits down....

Uh, if you can't stay in stealth, it's because you aren't being stealthy? Im not sure what you want me to say here. You are being broken out of Shroud because you are playing super obvious and not actually being stealthy. You seem to act like no one should see you just cause you're using Shroud.

If you are being broken, it's because you being punished for not being stealthy. This isn't hard to comprehend.

You don't have to use M&A on him at all if you use Shroud properly and stop getting broken. You keep blaming the game, and now you're insulting my intelligence by saying stuff like "smart guy."

Just because you can play well with other Killers doesn't suddenly mean you know how to play GF well. That's not how things work.

If you won't even bother trying to put the advice we are giving you into play, why even comment on the forums in the first place? One other player who had problems with GF is already finding much better success by taking some of the advice I've given him.

You won't even try it, it seems, given your confrontational attitude to anyone that disagrees with your almighty knowledge of being a Red Rank Killer.

You're playing GF poorly. That's all there is to it.

  • @BeanieBoyBob said:

Tbh one of reasons I got GF was because I believed he would actually encourage stealth to one-shot gameplay. I'm likely just not able to play him 'as intended', however I do apologise if I think that he is actually trash for forcing an unnecessary skill floor in order to pick him up (like Nurse was easier for me to learn).

In fact, for the same effect as I had hoped for when GF first came out, I started to play Huntress and used Iridescent Heads instead (loads more fun btw!). Who wants to play another M1 Killer anyways?

Why should a Killer mechanic be left in the hands of the Survivors in order for it to pan out correctly?

You already have a Killer that encourages stealth to oneshot.

    His name is Myers.

You guys really need to stop treating GF in the same fashion, and stops using perks like M&A on him, when he can't even take advantage of a perk like that to the same degree Myers can.

Myers already has a low TR. With Dead Rabbit, it's obvious M&A is great on him. GF doesn't have that potential. It's silly to run M&A on him.

He isn't meant to stalk and then oneshot. You are meant to stealthily approach using Shroud, no TR, and no red stain.

You use stalk as a means to punish Survivors for looping and not breaking LoS, or for people who aren't paying attention.

You guys know you can stalk from 48 meters away right? If you are getting close to stalk, you are doing it 100% wrong.

  • @OMagic_ManO said:

    @ClogWrench @weirdkid5 @Peanits

Reason I said to run was I thought it was a joke, for a Killer to run cause a Survivor has control of his power? Well anyway, thank you for the info, I had no idea you could go for grabs. Can I grab while crouching or do I need to stand? My tactic was always to 99 their stalk bar from a distance and go in for exposed, but that is not working anymore since everyone is constantly searching for him, as a meta, everyone just keeps Ghostface in eyes range to prevent his power.

I would say currently crouching on him is absolutely useless. Don't ever do it, unless you need to hide at a low angle.

Otherwise, you should always try to approach from behind walls, rocks, or whatever. Don't ever approach from the open if you can help it.

And yes, you can just waltz up to the gen and snag someone. You do have to be standing to grab. I would really only stalk midchase as a way to punish a Survivor for not breaking your Shroud, or if you can guarantee than you can get the exposed status before being revealed.

If you're gonna go for stalks, you need to use his addons that increase stalk time. Otherwise, it's better to play him like a Wraith that can still hit while invisible. Just remember that you aren't invisible obviously. This is why you wanna activate his Shroud when LoS is broken, so that you don't give the Survivor any clue as to which direction you are approaching from, or if you are even still chasing him.

  • @FredKrueger said:

Ummm I'm pretty damn stealthy w pig and Myers. GF is the only one I have issues with. I can EASILY sneak up on people with pig and I run M&A with myers. I'm running M&A with ghost face and it doesn't help. He's just to loud and too easy to spot as a stealth killer. I like playing stealth killers. That's my game. I play mind games and sneak around. Can't seem to ever do it with GF tho...

Why.. why are you running M&A on a Killer that can literally turn off his TR whenever he feels like it? This is a terrible perk choice for GF. It isn't even a good choice on Pig.

Also going off of your experience with Myers and Pig is terrible. The fact people are revealing you MEANS you aren't that stealthy. Again, only 20% of your body has to he revealed. That isn't a whole lot.

This means you aren't being stealthy. Im sorry dude, but you need to accept that you are playing poorly. Stop blaming the game and step back for a second and realize that you are probably playing him incorrectly. The fact you are running M&A on him proves this dude.

You can literally turn off your TR, and if you approach, let's say a gen from behind one of the tall rocks, there is 0 way the Survivor can see you. You need to stop trying to stalk with him and start turning off your TR midchase man.

If you won't even TRY to play him in a different style, and just persist on playing him like every other stealth Killer, you'll continue to think he's weak. Again, he is better at using his Shroud mid chase.

You can stalk, but you are clearly not being stealthy. That's just a fact my guy.

  • @ClogWench said:

@FredKrueger if you're having that much trouble with being broken out of stalk then you're playing him poorly. Survivors hear you from 8 meters away but beyond that they get no audio notification of you. On top of that you can use his power in a chase to get rid of your red stain and mindgame people more efficiently taking advantage of LoS blockers. He's versatile and the only killer who can freely turn off his TR, it just requires you to play smart. If you try to use him the same way as Myers you're gonna have a bad time.

Actually they got rid of the 8 meter thing.

Survivor have no idea how close you are unless you are literally on top of them now.

  • @FredKrueger said:

Ok, has anyone on here actually played him since the hot fix or are you just Commenting for the hell of it? Your honestly telling me his ability isn't broke now? As soon as I go into stalk, someone sees me. I play on PS4 so I dunno if that has something to do with it, but it's ridiculous. I've hidden behind trees, fences, cars, and buildings and they can still spot me when I can't spot them. It should be the other way around. And I'm not stupid, it practically TELLS you where the survivor is that spots you. I'd rather play as Freddy. I main Freddy a lot anyway and he isn't too bad once you learn a few tricks.

Considering 20% of your body has to be exposed to reveal you, something tells me you just aren't as stealthy as you believe yourself to be.

  • @OMagic_ManO said:

    @weirdkid5 @ClogWrench

I understand that but I will have Survivors run to me while I stalk to break me out of it, what am I supposed to do? Run away from the Survivor so I can stalk them? I just find it too easy to make him M1 the entire game, a coordinated team will do all their effort to make Ghostface M1.

No, why would you do that? If they approach you, why would you do anything other than walk up to them and hit them?

I think the answer should be obvious here. This seems like a questionable complaint to me honestly bro.

Start turning off your TR and Red stain AFTER you get into a chase with someone. It can seriously confuse people, especially in areas where there is no LoS. Even Myers still has a red stain.

Stalking is only 25% of GFs kit. You are heavily under utilizing him by ONLY focusing on stalking.

You can literally move full speed with no TR. Do you know how easy it is to get a gen grab if you approach the gen from behind a rock? You don't even need to crouch.

Why would you ever stalk when you can get a free grab or free hit? That will always end the situation faster than stalking and still getting looped only to have your oneshot run out. At the very least, you will get your Shroud back within 30 seconds of the chase, and then that second hit is almost guaranteed if you turn off your TR when LoS is broken.

Stop playing him like a Stalky boi and play him like a better Wraith, which is what he really is.

  • @ClogWench said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/552177#Comment_552177

That's not directly related to map/gen pressure though.

I mean Haddonfield has pretty bad pressure for Killers too. If the Survivors smartly do the middle gens first, then it becomes much more difficult for the Killer to pressure. Sure. You can say he can just focus the middle gens most of the match, but he's still gonna get infinited and not be able to down anyone.

Im curious OP, do you actually have advice you can give to the person you made this thread for? You tell him he just isn't applying pressure, but provide 0 feedback for him to fix this issue.

    Generalities dont help anyone.

  • I don't think Ghostface needs as many buffs as people need to change their playstyle.

Everyone keeps trying to play him as Myers, which is the incorrect way to play him. He's a completely different character, so he should have a completely different playstyle.

  • @Jonathanskilz said:

@ShrekIsHot that map is really small tbh I never really had a problem with putting on pressure on that map. Using lightborn is something you never should, its just wasting a perk slot. Whenever i see flashlights in my lobby i get happy because its very easy to dodge a flashlight and the people using it are not on a gen so you gucci. If i get flashlight i give them credit cause i find it really easy to dodge a flashlight attempt.

Huh. Haddonfield is pretty universally regarded as one of the worst maps for Killers, mostly because of the possibility of a true infinite when Balanced Landing is used.

  • One thing I disagree with is that you think the Obsession hearing the TR can be countered by SWF squads.

Can you explain your reasoning? You don't really go into detail about that.

I figured the Obsession hearing his own TR is supposed to actually COUNTER SWF by confusing the person into believing they are still being pursued even after breaking the chase.

  • @Redd said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/552112#Comment_552112

The stalking is the main reason people want to play him. It’s corrupt purge all over again. Survivors get to dictate your use of your power enough that it feels worse to play even if it’s viable.

Only utilizing his stalking ability is only using like, 25% of his kit.

His ability is much more than just stalking.

But play how you want. Even if it's unviable.

  • I mean he's not really that bad. I dont really agree with the increase to 8% on the screen, but that's still not that huge of an area.

He's still fairly decent when played well. I don't think a lot of Killers are utilizing his ability to turn off his TR and red stain midchase for mindgames, and instead opt to ALWAYS go for stalk oneshots, which honestly isn't very optimal imo

  • You need to play a little but more patiently and aware of your surroundings.

I've faced some pretty deadly GF players. One thing you need to keep in mind that only 20% of your body has to be exposed to actually reveal you.

This means that you are likely not hiding well enough. He can peek around corners which hides your body and doubled your stalk rate, which makes it extremely risky to approach you. And I mean, if someone is approaching you to break your stealth then just, walk up to them and hit them? They are giving you ground on the chase by approaching you. You should never respond to a Survivor approaching by trying to hide. Only hide when someone you don't know is revealing you or when you are spotted at a distance while stalking.

Also think about activating your Shroud during a chase. This can confuse the Survivor into believing you have dropped him, when in reality, you have turned off your red stain and now you are playing mindgames with the Survivor. This is a lot stronger than people give it credit for, and can be more deadly than his ability to stalk.

Sometimes it's better to just approach with no TR than to stalk. They removed the sound at 8 meters when in Shroud mode, so you could probably easily get gens grabs if you approach the gen from a spot that is obscured.

Don't be timid when playing Ghostface. You're still a Killer. Give him more than a day. He's not the best character, but he's still fairly decent around the mid ranks, and a good Ghostface honestly has a lot of potential.

  • I would disagree that they are the easiest to balance.

Changing up just one character's matchup with another one is enough to change the meta into different counter picks and such. When you adjust a character in a fighting game, you have to make sure that you adjust it correctly for the matchup you are balancing, without destroying the rest of the character.

Just changing a single frame on any animation is enough to make or break a character in certain instances.

I will say though I do like LoL's new balance philosophy.

  • @Mellow7 said:

@weirdkid5 I'm going to have to disagree with that statement smash balances for both sides of the spectrum, while it takes in consideration their competive side to some extent the main focus they have towards balance is for their casual players. Example: when sm4sh came out on 3DS the vast majority of the casual community complained little mac was unbeatable so they nerfed him pretty heavy even though little mac was very weak and had many countermeasures and flaws as a character he was still nerfed for the casual player base.

If you look at little Mac now present day Sm4sh and Smash ultimate he is considered the lowest tier he's even worse in Ultimate than in 4. Another example is the King K rool nerf they did a few patches ago even though King is low tier the player base had trouble getting past his super armor.

Little Mac legitimately had some pretty nasty stuff when he first released, even though he still had things like a trash recovery. However, every single update after the first one buffed Little Mac, so the initial nerf doesn't really mean much when they did nothing but buff him the rest of his life.

And they didn't nerf him very heavily. All they did was mess with his landing lag a little and make his jab do less damage, because it could lead to some pretty cheesy stuff, regardless of his weak recovery.

Also, they haven't changed King's Super Armor at all according to his changes on the wiki. The only significant nerfs King has received is to his down throw, otherwise King has been pretty much only buffed since Smash Ultimate came out.

Just cause a character recieved a nerf doesn't necessarily mean a whole lot. There legitimately can be some pretty cheesy stuff, such as King's Down Throw. It was way too effective at low percents, but now, it is MORE effective at high percents, so it balanced it out. https://www.ssbwiki.com/KingK.Rool_(SSBU)

Anyway, the point is even low tier characters can receive nerfs depending on the nature of the game. This is part of the reason why Mac was pretty much exclusively buffed after the Wii U version came out, because he hit a wider audience and people were able to see how weak he was. It wasn't just casuals that had problems with Little Mac when Sm4sh released. It was a knee jerk reaction, one Nintendo mostly learned from.

  • You can just check Steam Global Achievements.

This number is super bloated. You need to consider that many people who have played this game have played during a free weekend, and did not purchase.

These players are counted in achievement totals I believe. As such, this can kinda skew this number.

Basing it off of Steam achievements isn't really accurate. Im sure the devs have released figures somewhere at some point though.

That's the problem though. As per the Steam achievement stats, only 10% of survivors have ever gone past rank 10. And only 5% of all killers have.

I'm sorry to say this but red ranks account for maybe 1-2% of all players and making a killer good at red ranks will make the experience worse for the other 98-99% which makes no sense at all.

Im sorry but this is just kind of a bad excuse.

If you balance the game at the high rank, it doesn't suddenly become worse for the low rank.

Just because a new player chooses to play Geras (the best character) in MK11 doesn't suddenly mean they are gonna beat a pro who chooses Shao Kahn (easily bottom 5). In fact, they are gonna get destroyed.

Same will happen in low ranks. Just cause they actually balance Killers for the high end doesn't suddenly mean noob Killers are going to start mollywhopping at the low Rank. That's not how balancing works.

You really should play more fighting games to understand this kind of balancing mentality.

The reason the game is unbalanced at the high end is because the Survivors have too many mechanics that allow them to correct errors for free. Whether it be in the chase, though self care, voice comms, or what have you. This causes these mechanics to be abused at the high end, since low level players cannot fully use these things to their maximum potential thanks to lack of knowledge or other factors.

Take Ryu from SF for example. He is the most basic beginner character, he's essentially the Trapper of Street Fighter. He's the simple character you first play to learn how to play the game. In this respect, him and Trapper share the same role.

However, Ryu has an extremely high skill cap. This allows the best players to play Ryu at a high level and win consistently, because he is just balanced 100%. He is easy to play, but hard to master. He can consistently win tournaments, and people like Daigo have made him and Ken his main career choices.

Contrast this to Trapper, or suffers greatly at the high level, which is not the case with Ryu. The DbD mentality that "something should only be high Rank if it is difficult to master" completely goes against every aspect of sensible game design, especially when Survivor have such low skill floors AND ceilings, yet Killers with high floors and ceilings, such as Nurse, are required to defeat them.

It just makes 0 sense at all. This would be like if Akuma or Seth were the only viable characters in Street Fighter 4. That's boring. That's nonsensical. That's unbalanced.

    Just like DbD.

10% of all survivors and 5% of all killers have managed to reach Rank 10. This is why Behavior's balancing their game based upon the lower ranks of play, because there's where the players are.

This isn't really a great excuse.

Once more, Smash is played mostly by casual people. The devs even insist it is a casual game. But it is still balanced around the top 1%.

Because if it wasn't, then the broken beginner friendly stuff ends up getting abused by the higher end players to effective levels that were never intended.

Kinda similar to what happens at DbD high ranks.

The escape rate isn't the focus of my post so idc about that.

And are you really saying the devs don't need to add anything to Survivor gameplay to make it more interesting?

Really? Because there are tons of threads and people also asking for secondary objectives.

Are they too not suitable to play Survivor?

C'mon, it's been 3 years. A whole three. Something new aside from EGC should be added. Something to spice it up for me and others personally.

I will agree after 3 years the game hasn't changed significantly aside from the EGC. That's the most major change the game has received aside from just balance adjustments, pallet nerfs etc etc.

I know I personally don't prefer Killer. I've played this game long enough to know that.

I've also played long enough to know that I sometimes almost fall asleep playing Survivor.

  • CoalTowerOutline.png

For instance, this is Coal Tower's map layout. Coal Tower will ALWAYS have this outline. The Coal Tower itself and the Killer shack will ALWAYS spawn in the same spot. The giant logs in the middle ALWAYS spawn in the same spot.

All of the walls always spawn in the same areas, but the wall layouts can be random. Rocks typically spawn in the same areas. Maps aren't truly random.

  • Some tiles are random, but others are always set in place, for instance, the "special" house of the map as well as the Killer shack.

You can also be guaranteed that certain areas won't ever spawn things like walls, and instead spawn low loopable obstacles and such.

Tiles aren't completely "random" it's really more window placement, pallet placement, gen and hook placement that's random.

The outline of a map never changes, nor do locations of certain tiles. You can see the outline of all the maps on the wiki.

Once the map reworks start rolling out, tiles will actually start to be randomly placed in a meaningful fashion, potentially changing the layout of the map entirely. Instead, the "special" house is what will determine the map and which tiles can and can't spawn.

  • If you still wanna play Survivor I would just recommend playing solo or using no perks at that point.

Survivor is boring only cause you have to M1 most of the time. The only time the game is interesting is during a chase, which you have a 1/4 chance of getting in to at any given time.

    Lol, solid argument....cause reasons?

You work on a lot of things with your hands while looking behind you like an owl?

Just curious what it would be like from a top tier survivor viewpoint.

This is one time I won't support realism for gameplay.

It is stated that Survivors have heightened senses than regular people, which can explain the whole 3rd Person Camera in the first place.

They can literally sense the approaching presence of a Killer, but you have an issue with them looking around while repairing something? Lol ok

Not sure what you are talking about here. Smash has huge tournaments with actual money prizes and regional championships. Not really the same thing. Just took my son to one in Detroit earlier this year. Over 100 contestants and the final 16 were insane good. The winner got over 5k in prizes. You'll never see that with DBD.

@Dehitay Legion was broken and even the developers admitted he was not being used the way they intended. The chase mechanic was exploited due to poor development. Apples and oranges. I'll never accuse BHVR's developers of being good, or competent for that matter. They are very short-sighted and are unable to adapt to exploits in their design. They are fantastic at conceptualizing great ideas, but horrible at putting them to the application stage.

Smash is officially stated to be a "casual party game" by Masahiro Sakurai, the guy who created it.

The COMMUNITY are the ones who make the game competitive. Smash was never intentionally designed to be a game that people would play in tournaments. Yet, Nintendo still balances the game around what goes on in a tournament, despite the fact that they intend for the game to be casual. It wasn't until Ultimate that Nintendo actually started taking the balance even more seriously than they had in Smash 4.

DBD was intended to be competitive from the start. This is evidence by the fact there is a Ranking system. And no, it doesn't matter how flawed that system is, it still exists. Plus the devs have held an official tournament before.

So, with that said, there is 0 excuse for this game to be balanced around low skill players.

Also I've been to Smash tournaments as well. My mindset is that is a fighting game player. I understand the casual mindset, because I was like that before I got into fighting games with Street Fighter 4. Fighting games changed my perspective on how games should be balanced in general.
