Don't copy and paste stuff because for some reason, it automatically bolds stuff.

Oh, I get that. The odd thing is that, if I highlight a line, and then click to bold/unbold/italic/unitalic; the box goes away but the changes never happen.

But only on certain lines. It will work fine on line 2, but line 3 will not work, but line 4 & 5 will work fine with it, etc

Like, in that post you replied too? I CAN NOT unbold the first line, but you can see I bolded 'because' perfectly fine.

Thanks for that tip mate. I didn't know BP carried between all killers.

It carries between all killers and survivors.

It's an account-wide BP bank. Whatever you earn can be spent on any Killer or Survivor you want, regardless of who earned it.

  • Nope. I always think that, if someone downvotes a post/thread without replying, they actually don't HAVE a reply.

They are saying 'I don't like what you said, but you're not wrong'.

Because anyone with a counter-argument would say that counter-argument.

Whether they have a 3rd person camera or not, you still can't see GF if he directly approaches you from an angle that blocks significant LoS. It takes nearly 2 seconds to break him out of stealth. That honestly should be plenty of time to get into cover, and if not, it means you were playing poorly and not in an area with good cover.

I know what having a 3rd person camera means. But in order to get such an angle in the first place, your body needs to be exposed at least 20% from any given angle.

If you aren't aware of all possible LoS angles people can get on you whole you are in Shroud, you shouldn't be surprised when you get knocked out of stealth.

     Significant LoS, man?

Ghost Face: Must see 99.9999999999999999999993% of a Survivors body. If even one strand of hair is hidden by a snowflake or errant bug, he can't Stalk.

Survivors: Only need to see 20% of Ghost Face to break his stealth. If they so much as see a SHOE, he loses stealth.

Ghost Face's power is firmly in the 'Survivor's Control' part of the power gauge. They cranked it hard over and snapped off the handle.

Ok sure. But if he isn't knocked out of stealth then why would he ever not be in stealth.

Or in otherwords. If I can't be forced out of stealth, then why as ghostface would I ever willingly not be in stealth?

For pig or myers it's because I need the speed. Wraith and Freddy it's because I need to actually attack them. What's Ghostfaces reason?

Reduce his lunge range while in Stealth (so he has to be closer, thus play more sneaky to GET closer)

Reduce his movespeed a bit while in stealth, but increase his vault action speed (and ONLY vault action.)

So he can either move slower, but vault faster, or move normally but vault normally.

Add a timer akin to The Doctor to switch between modes, to prevent rapid switching.

And, as I said above; Allow people to stop his Stalking power by looking at him, but NOT stop his stealth. But they only stop it for THEMSELVES.

IE: If Bill looks at him, Bill's Stalk meter will not go up, but Claudett, who is next to Bill but not looking at GF, will still be Stalked.

As it is, it takes ONE person out of 4 people with magic out-of-body 360 cameras to prevent his power wholly. He's just too easily countered to be at all good.

  • @weirdkid5 said:

@Eguzky except it isn't like Pig stealth at all.

First of all, you should never actually crouch as GF.

Second, he has full movement speed when in Shroud mode. Pig is super slow while crouched.

Thirdly, the fact you can just turn off your red stain for free means that you can easily mindgame around LoS blockers much more effectively than Pig could ever hope to achieve, mostly because you don't have a mega loud sound effect that gives away your attack.

You really shouldnt be playing GF like any other stealth killer.

He can do them. You just need to become a better GF player. Im running into several extremely effective GF players that make him seem better than Myers.

You shouldn't always stalk with GF simply because your full speed while having no TR means you can easily get gen grabs, which will always be faster than stalking for a oneshot.

If they revealed you, they clearly had a line of sight on you. Im just saying.

If they reveal GF, it means their magic 3rd person camera that was never meant to counter Killer Powers had line of sight while they stayed safe 10000000% behind a wall without even the slightest shred of anything showing.

Because of this camera, Ghost Face's power should NEVER have been made with a 'just look at him' counter in mind. This will ALWAYS benefit the players who have a floating 360 degree view.

This is WHY Killers don't have a third-person camera; it's a handicap. It makes them harder to play.

Which means this camera is a hard counter to any attempt to ever stealth as GF.

Which means he should not be countered by just. bloody. looking. at. HIM!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/552543#Comment_552543

You did remove it. If this goes through then why would Ghostface ever not be in stealth?

Yes you can't stop Myers from stalking or whatever, but he does have a reason not to just hold M2 the whole game, same with Pig crouching, there is a reason for the Pig to not crouch and for the doctor to switch modes and for the Spirit to not phase and for the Huntress/Clown to not throw a hatchet/bottle ect.

Every Killer has a reason to not use their power, sure some Killers still are using there power a lot of the time anyways such as Nurse and Billy, but even they have to be smart with their timing or else their power will do more harm than good, or at the very least less good than it otherwise could have.

Night shroud's effects however are purely positive and can in theory be used forever. Right now this is the only power like that. Every other power has either a slowdown, opportunity cost or both.

Except Night Shroud works EXACTLY like The Pig's stealth.

His stalk is separate, but tied in (IE: He can't stalk without Shrouding).

So what if he can night shroud forever? That won't break him, and will be LESS powerful if you alter his Stalk to compensate, which I suggested.

The Pig can crouch forever, and has no reason not too.

Meyer's and GF share the reasons to Stalk/Not Stalk, so nothing gained or lost there.

The main problem is that he has 2 things, and He. Can't. Do. Them.

I just wish the Devs would respond to these outcries of how utterly UP GF is. We see them reply to questions and bugs..but they seem to actively AVOID any thread about Killer balance. They never respond, and it feels like they just don't care that he's yet ANOTHER Killer neutered by Survivor-biased gameplay.

Just once, I'd love to see 'Yeah, we could take another look at GF/<insert killer name here>' or the more important 'We've seen the complaints' followed by any reasons they have for why or why not changing things right now.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/552533#Comment_552533

Yeah I hate when people do that.

Anyways, it's healthy for Killers to always have a reason NOT to use their powers (same for Survivors and active ability's when applicable) since it creates a layer of strategy that wouldn't exist if the Killer could just always be using their power without thinking hard about it.

Having Survivors be able to break you out of Night Shroud is one such reason to not use your power, and right now it's practically the ONLY reason. If there were other reasons to not use Night Shroud then yes it would be BS for Survivors to knock you out, but there isn't so it's not.

If you want to adjust how easy it is to knock him out, or replace it with a different mechanic that serves a similar purpose than that's fine.

But don't just remove it entirely.

I made suggestions instead of removing it.

I mean, removing their ability to break it makes it like The Pig and halves it's power STILL with my suggestions.

You can't stop Meyer's Stalking. You can't MAKE The Pig stand up. You can't FORCE The Doctor to switch modes.

Why did Ghost Face get a pass on being so easy to abuse and bully? It's not balance, or all those other characters would be OP to high hell.

  • That's fine; downvote without replying.

All that says is that I'm right & those of you doing it have no argument, but don't want a change precisely BECAUSE he's so easy to bully.

(Bloody forums! I can't bold or un-bold half of what I type anymore. WTH?)

  • @weirdkid5 said:

You need to play a little but more patiently and aware of your surroundings.

I've faced some pretty deadly GF players. One thing you need to keep in mind that only 20% of your body has to be exposed to actually reveal you.

This means that you are likely not hiding well enough. He can peek around corners which hides your body and doubled your stalk rate, which makes it extremely risky to approach you. And I mean, if someone is approaching you to break your stealth then just, walk up to them and hit them? They are giving you ground on the chase by approaching you. You should never respond to a Survivor approaching by trying to hide. Only hide when someone you don't know is revealing you or when you are spotted at a distance while stalking.

Also think about activating your Shroud during a chase. This can confuse the Survivor into believing you have dropped him, when in reality, you have turned off your red stain and now you are playing mindgames with the Survivor. This is a lot stronger than people give it credit for, and can be more deadly than his ability to stalk.

Sometimes it's better to just approach with no TR than to stalk. They removed the sound at 8 meters when in Shroud mode, so you could probably easily get gens grabs if you approach the gen from a spot that is obscured.

Don't be timid when playing Ghostface. You're still a Killer. Give him more than a day. He's not the best character, but he's still fairly decent around the mid ranks, and a good Ghostface honestly has a lot of potential.

So they can see less than a quarter of my body to break my stealth. Whereas I can't see them if a stalk of corn is in the way.

And using Shroud in a chase is a bad idea. They are already looking behind themselves at Ghost Face so they just insta-break it without needing to stop running because Survivor's heads can rotate 360 degrees.

At the very least, his crouch walking should be equal to his normal walking, since he's tall and skinny and easy as heck to see on almost every map unless he crouches.

  • I love when Survivors screech at me after a match.

It means, either win or lose, I took away their fun. And the best part? Since they are raging and I did not cheat or abuse exploits? They are LETTING me take away their fun.

So win or lose, when someone rages, I win.

  • Please no.

I've already run into about two or three wallhackers. If you make the game F2P, they can cheat, get banned, make a new account, and cheat again without spending a dime.

That's why I don't play TF2 or CS:GO; the free game means hackers never have to leave.

  • Honestly, I wish Behavior prevented the Survivors from looking directly behind themselves when working on Gens. Limit it to an over the shoulder angle that hides the area directly behind them. This would serve many purposes:

    1) Gens have different angles to work on them. This means a solo Survivor would have to figure out which angle is the best to protect themselves. This also means OTHER survivors can work form a different angle to cover a friends blind spot.

    2) This gives the Killer the chance to sneak up from directly behind a Survivor.

    3) It's kind of silly that a Survivor can literally see out the back of his head. This is a human blind-spot. Try looking behind yourself without turning at the waist. You get, at most, a blurry side-eye view that strains your eyes and neck.

  • I do wish you could just hold a button.

I mean, it's not like it breaks the game or anything to allow it.

  • Here's the thing about the Killer:

He needs to be as powerful as FOUR people working together.

This means, when he kills one person; the balance of power is now firmly in his favor.

He kills two people; now he is very, VERY firmly in control and the other two are probably screwed unless the team worked well before it all went to hell.

He kills 3; it's now one-on-one..The Killer is as powerful as he was at the start, and the Survivor is 1/4 as useful.

Guess who's favor it's now in?

And for a bonus; that ONE survivor is now feeling hopeless..and the Entity feeds on that feeling of hopelessness..

Kinda seems to be working as intended, boys. And let me tell you; I've seen some BAD ideas to 'balance' the power:

The hatch is now time-based. The Killer is not allowed to chose when it closes.

The Pig's Beartraps should come off automatically on the 3rd box if the Survivor fails at 2 before it.

The Killer should lose movement speed FOR THE ENTIRE MATCH if he hook camps.

    And on and on..

You're supposed to be SCARED as the Survivor, which means the Killer needs to have power, but so many Survivors want to yank that power away because they just want to win.

They don't want true balance or an immersive experience, no. Throw all that away and let. them. win.

Everything else is secondary to exiting those gates every match. Even other Survivors don't matter to them. Only THEY deserve to win every match.

And honestly? It's getting frustrating to see time and again:

Toxic Survivors in game blaming everyone else that they got caught.

Screaming at Killers for being 'sweatty' or 'tryhards'.

Yelling for rules to 'punish' slugging and hook camping like there's some sort of rulebook; 'How To Play Killer' by Survivor McSurvivorMain.

And if it's this exhausting to read as a player, imagine how bad it must be for the poor Devs; They just want to get proper feedback but they have to sift through so much noise to find anything useful.

  • Thank you, everyone. I understand it better now :)

  • @Cardgrey said:

  • Sometimes it doesn't work even after 4 tries. It's a big waste of time really.

    Um..No?

Then you may as well just remove the Traps ability to kill. The whole point is, if you're too slow or unlucky, you die.

If you were GIFTED a removal, then what's the point of them killing? Yes, you are still slowed down and removed from doing gens, but no, no, no, you don't get to just be given a gift-wrapped removal because your luck was bad.

  • Please stop.

Stop trying to force your idea for how a Killer should play on every Killer.

You want to punish hook campers because you don't like it? Fine.

I hate when Survivors twerks on the other side of a pallet instead of running away. I'm supposed to be scary, after all. They should lose movement speed from tiring out their thigh muscles with all that twerking. It would encourage them to keep moving instead of happydance while seeing what I do.

See how silly that sounds? Just because you don't like a play style does not mean it has to be removed. There's already a punishment if a Killer hook camps; it allows the other Survivors to open chests, heal, and repair generators.

So no need to add in silly little mechanics.

  • @tovelo said:

That passive is absurdly broken. Basically phase walk but you just get it for free. If you want to go invisible randomly in a chase, then it should take more than just a hit.

    Yes but also no.

You don't get a speed boost or anything else. You just go invisible.

  • @CptPlanet said:

I like it. The active power sounds a bit underwhelming, but since there is a passive as well I see why.

Without it actually being a thing and being able to playtest it, it is hard to say, but in the spirit of speculation: the passive of going invisible after you hit someone doesn't seem like it'd help a lot. Usually when you M1 a survivor they use the speed boost they get to run as far away as possible. So all the invisible time would just be used chasing after them to catch up.

True, though I've seen no few Survivors that try to double back or loop around to Pallets/windows.

Plus, you can use it to break off a chase and go after someone nearby.

The point of it is to mindgame the Survivors; are you playing catch up? Or are you going towards that nearby Genny? Or towards the 2 that are healing behind a nearby rock? Etc etc.

I think allot of it would come down to perks + add-ons and I could not think of any.

You just want to scream, flail, and talk down to anyone who does not agree with you. You want an echo chamber and you're pitching a temper tantrum when you don't get it.

    Good day, Sir.

  • OP, it's one perk that you can TURN OFF.

See, here's the amusing thing; Killers and Survivors say the games are too fast. Survivors can gen rush and pop 2 or 3 in under 2 minutes.

So Killers run Hexes like NOED, and now a subsection of Survivors are screaming it's unfair and OP that they have to stop their gen rushing to clear totems.

Guess what, man? We run these perks to make you slow down. Time is against the Survivors AND the Killers:

If you think about it, the Killers have a countdown until they lose; that moment when Survivors open the gates & leave. It's a random, invisible time limit and we run perks and skills meant to slow down/extend the clock because...

...Survivors work AGAINST the clock; the longer Survivors are on a map. The greater the chance they will get killed. So they want to do everything in their power to leave as fast as possible.

Killers have to FORCE Survivors to work on something other than the Gens: Running away, healing (self or allies), picking up allies, unhooking allies, cleansing Totems. Anything we can to slow down gen repairs.

If Hex perks were all really piddly 'Inflicts blind' and 'Tickles the Survivors' crud, then no Survivor would feel the pressure to cleanse Totems, and thus the Killers time limit is staying sadly short.

This Hex literally only affects you if you are too lazy to clear totems. At that point, it's really your own fault. Kick that lil skull over, get the BP, and literally turn off one (or mroe) of the Killer's perks.

It's that easy, and in doing so, the Hex is fufilling it's secondary role: Buying the Killer more time to kill you.

  • If BHVR actually put rules in place to prevent crunch time and overworking their employees, then I will happily support DBDL...insomuch as my broke butt can.

In this era of companies treating employees like disposable cups, we need to let companies know what we will and will not accept from them.

And any company with a conscience is okay in my book.

Heck, I want to be a voice actor someday (Getting my foot in the door is really hard :( ) and I'd rather work for a company that treats its workers like people, instead of a larger company that does crunch time and assaults its workers and lies. (Randy Pitchford & Gearbox; I'm looking at you.)

And how is popping the generator and giving the killer an indicator where you are bad exactly? What, do you expect the survivor to just stand there and wait for the killer? User your head FFS!

I used to do this to hatch campers all the time. I pop the gen, then take a hidden route that doesn't go directly back to the hatch - I beat the killer to the hatch EVERY SINGLE TIME because they go to the gen, then go looking for me.

In the new EGC, I suspect most of them will just shut the hatch at that point - which frees me up to start the exit gate mind games that a lot of us are already playing.

This is such a non-issue, I can't believe people are complaining about this. It's like people log in and take off their thinking caps.

You misunderstand; I was pointing out that a hatch-camping Killer has a reason to NOT 'just close hatch' because forcing a Survivor to pop a gen & give away where he is works in the Killer's favor.

    I was arguing AGAINST time-limited hatches. :)

I would like to see a user interface feature so when a totem is destroyed, both the survivor and killer get a notification that a totem was destroyed and a count of the remaining totems. This would encourage survivors to break more totems if they see other survivors breaking totems too. It also lets the killer know if survivors are breaking totems instead of working gens.

But I don't think NOED itself needs nerfed. It serves an important function in the game. It is literally the only reason besides bloodpoints to break inactive totems. Anything that helps get survivors off of generators for a few seconds is a good thing. If survivors don't respect the power of NOED then what is the incentive to go around hunting for totems?

No. Because then Survivors would know how many Hex's the Killer brought into the match and would promptly know to stop looking when the counter reaches 0.

The thing about Hex's is that they are SUPPOSED to be so strong, they can be removed (all but 1 or 2 are complete trash). But the other upside to Hex's are that Survivors have to look very carefully and try to clear them all, which slows down Gen work.

If Survivors knew that the Killer brought 3 Hex's into the map, they could just rush Gens after clearing 3 Hex's instead of wondering if there is a 4th and getting slapped by it later.

@Meme Also, Hex's are very bad, save for NoED and maybe 1 other, and can be completely removed from play, rendering a Killer 1/4, 2/4, 3/4 or even 4/4 perks turned off. That's balance enough.

If NoED is nerfed, they should just make it a normal perk, because it would be too garbage to use. Same with Huntress' Lullaby, and Hex: Ruin; you can already turn them off, so what more do you want?

  • Honestly, I'd be all for the Hatch either not opening if a Survivor is too close (to force Hatch Campers to hide further away & have to cover dangerous ground to get to it)

And/Or the Hatch giving the Killer a notification when it opens, so they know where it is, same as the Doors.

  • What some people fail to realize is that it's not the Killer's job to LET the Survivors win.

The Killer does not have to chase a Survivor across the map and let the other 1-3 complete Gens just because they are so close together.

Be a smart Survivor; plan ahead, find the Gens, and don't complete them in such a way that you get screwed.

Oh, and stop whining when your win ain't handed to you on a silver platter just because the Killer was being 'not fair'.

  • I love how it was fine for Survivors to hide for 40 minutes, or infinite-loop.

But a Killer actually plays his objective of stopping Gens and suddenly it's 'He should HAVE to chase us! He should HAVE to let the other survivors work on gens, and he should HAVE to accept chase-bait or he should be banned!'

    smh

So a Killer is griefing if he plays one of his objectives (Stopping gens) instead of actively trying to lose by chasing a Survivor it will take 45-60 seconds to down?

What? Killers are supposed to hand Survivors the game now? 'Sorry the last few gens are so close together. I'll walk away so you can win or I get in trouble'?

By that logic (Killer should have chased, even if it made him lose), I can claim the Survivors were griefing by not letting themselves be downed. They could have rushed the gens, and were holding the game hostage by not playing their objective, even if it made them lose.

Is there some rule that states 'Thou Must Haveth Fiber-Optic..eth..Or Thou'rt Forever Cast Out As A DSL Leper!'

More to @sickOfLAG: Get over yourself. It's not your call who plays Killer, or what someone's connection is. Some people can't afford better internet, or don't have ACCESS to better internet where they are.

Does that mean they should not play the games you play, lest they earn the displeasure of Sir SickofLAG, King Of The Internet?

I'm thinking of buying World War Z. Should I check in with His Nibbs, Sir sickofLAG, to make sure my connection meets your standards, on the off-chance you get the game and get matched up with me? Heaven forbid I slow YOU down, O High And Mighty sickOfLag!

  • If you’re going to make it so that the killer can shut the hatch, the very least that should be done, is to put the exit gates on the opposite side of the map from each other!

No, no. The Survivor has 90% of the power, dude. You're angry that the Killer might get ONE kill. This is what the Stereotypical Survivor Main is about; if one survivor dies, they get upset and call 'OP'.

Don’t need tiers for the regression imo. Tiers work for the gen progression alone just fine. Other than that I like it!

You think it should just be a set regression amount across all levels of the perk? What amount do you think it should be?

That COULD be interesting. Just couple points:

    1) how would aura reading work. Do they just get ignored or something?

    2) this would hurt killers more.

    3) it would break the "nothing talks (while in trial)" thing. Everyone grunts or screams nothing else

    1) Depends on the aura: For a fake hooking, there would be a noise indication and person hanging until 'dead' or someone gets close enough . Same with 'downed' survivors.

..Basically everything as normal until it fads out normally, or someone gets close (Killer or Survivor)

    2) Maybe. I feel it would hurt the unaware of both sides.

    3) Yeah, that's why it was a 'perhaps'. I was not sure if it would break the talking.

Then again, to me, Survivors don't talk because they are scared the Killer will hear them. A Husk would be reliving the last nightmares or just too far gone to not talk.

Opting in would mean you’d face swf, I hope y’all know.

Yes. That's why it should be Opt-In. This means the default state is not doing it & Killers have to decide to play against SWF groups. :)

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Oh, another Thread about SWF. How unique.

It's almost like SWF was a terrible, terrible idea that ran counter to the overall theme and atmosphere to the game, and the Devs only put it in to stop the incessant whining of people who wanted to grief Killers as a group.

@Eguzky woah hold on up there and calm your beans, did i say that or did it happen, or i do that? no you dont know on if on my killer or surv positions so please dont assume, sorry if the truth hurts but this is what a lot of Killer mains what, op killers to get and maintain their 4k win, woohoo for them. As a killer i don't and i don't care if i pip, or get my 4k i play for fu and if i get my kills i do but i am not hell bent on getting my 4ks and totally enraged by such.

and btw this ISN NOT ALL KILLERS!

    @Mushwin Chill your roll, friend.

I was stating something I saw about the game, not about you.

Fun Killers are indeed a good thing; I really enjoy Freddy, even if he is bad. It's just that most the fun killers are very situational, lackluster, or outright bad. And when played, you (as in, Killer players, not specifically YOU) get what I mentioned above.

I'm not saying YOU do that, I'm not even saying MOST Survivors do that.

The 'you' I used was known as the 'royal you'; using you as a stand-in for an example. Not saying 'You, Mushwin, literally do this'.

I probably could have said 'The problem is that IF you play an unviable/bad Killer' etc etc.

And of course, I was referencing Toxic Survivors, not anyone specific.
