As far as I'm aware, the anti-camp feature hasn't been in a PTB yet. I'm not talking about reassurance. I'm talking about the timer that builds when the killer is near the hook. Once it's full, the survivor can unhook themselves. They said if a survivor is near, that this timer will continue to build but slower. How I understood it, this doesn't keep a survivor on hook longer, the anti-camp mechanic simply builds a meter that, when full, the hooked person can unhook themselves. I'd imagine they would still be going through hook phases, so I don't see how a survivor could troll the person on hook by running to them....they would still die just as fast as normal if no one unhooked them.
Long story short, a survivor could just run to the hook and loop around it which would kick in the anti-facecamp feature that will allow that person on the hook to unhook themselves.
Oh that's interesting. Not really sure how I feel about it. While I do think getting camped is pretty trash, sometimes you have to secure a kill and if Survivors are clouding the hook, I don't really think the hooked survivor should be given a self-unhook just because the Killer is defending the hook from others.
We already have a perk that guarantees a self-unhook if the survivor already has unhooked someone else. I think that's enough imo.
If they're camping, sure let it happen. But if they're actively in a chase near the hook, I don't think it should progress at all. It would incentivize the other survivor to either pull the Killer away from the hook or make a risky play for the hook trade.

@RpTheHotrod said:
The unhooking progress will merely slow down, not stop, when another survivor is near by. Loopers are just going to run to hooks. This will force free credit for a hooked person to unhook themselves despite the killer having no intention of being near that hook. If a survivor is near a hook, the unhook timer shouldn't slow - it should entirely stop. It's a bit silly to remove killer pressure simply by a survivor heading to a hook in chase.
They tried this whole stopping the timer thing before. Survivors just used it to troll each other by keeping the person on the hook indefinitely. Not a good idea.

That's something I see many killers say. That's why I don't think survivors and killers agree. Cause when killers say "survivor is easier" they usually mean what you say. But survivors understand that if it's easier to play then it should be easier to win as well, which is not the case for solo survivor, same with this thread.
The OP claims survivor is easy to play, but how easy is to consistently get 3 or more out when you're playing solo? (To be considered a team win and not solo win).
I play solo most of my games, sometimes with just one other person. I don't typically find it any easier or harder personally but I've also been playing since Day 1. As far as the "team win" situation, I'll almost always go out of my way to save someone if I'm solo, cause there's a higher chance they'll help me out if I do. But I'm also not above leaving someone for dead if it means my own survival. This holds true even when I play with friends, and I play with people that have a like mindset. I'll even specifically tell them to leave me if it isn't worth the save.
If I play with 3 others it's usually a cakewalk.
-
I almost always run the Head On + Flashbang build because it's absolutely hilarious. I also deserve whatever tunneling I get afterwards.
Good thing I'm typically capable of escaping, but the Killer is the one who really dictates who lives and dies at the end of the day, unless you've got a godlike squad that can save you or take the chase. I also pretty much only play solo or with just one other buddy.
It's just the name of the game. Better to come to terms with it now.

Just a case of the DBD community being how it always has been even after 7 years.
Never change DBD, never change.

When you say manipulate, do you mean like mind control? Because a killer that can temporarily briefly possess or confuse the steering of a survivor would be a cool mechanic.
No, Wesker is a very charismatic person and can get people on his side pretty easily, he doesn't have mind control powers.

Just played against a Legion that was using Thana and the add on that makes you Broken after you mend.

Played 2 games with meme Jumpscare Myers and got both 4ks. Probably because they were playing super altruistic. I legit had no idea what they were doing lmao

No, communication has always been an issue. It's been proven time and again that swf gives an enormous edge. The reason bhvr hasn't done anything about it is they know they can't stop people from using headsets.
A few years back, a group of dedicated players made an effort to test how strong SWF was with or without communication. They did 100 games with comms, and 100 without. They considered 3 people escaping a win, and this was back during when Rank 1 was a thing.
I don't remember the exact results, but they had over 90 wins both with and without comms. A good SWF doesn't actually needs comms to win if they know how each other plays and they run builds that provide the necessary information for good teamplay.

First game on and it's a team abusing endurance. Not sure how the devs think that's fun to go against as wraith.
In what ways were they abusing Endurance? You can't even stack it like in the PTB.

Is getting a bad ratio what you're going for when you post something like this on survivor threads?! If so, good job. It's good evidence that you're a wolf in sheep's clothing.
I've been at this song and dance for a long time. I could care less what my ratio on the forums is lmao again, feel free to check my achievements. I hardly play Killer. I don't even have some of the easiest achievements for them lmao if I was a Killer, you'd think I would at least have Outrage, but I don't.

Another killer only player.
He probably mains Omegablink Nurse and Stridor Spirit, tunnels the first survivor out at 5 gens, and then writes "ez" post game chat.
Nothing new, moving on.
You can check my achievements on Steam then. I don't even have the achievement for injuring 100 Survivors after they throw a pallet. I don't even own Spirit, and I can count the number of times I've played Nurse on one hand lol
Don't be upset that I don't conform to the mob mentality that is Survivors. Sorry I'm actually decent at the game.

The camping at entrance to basement or a survivor running around basement? The fact that two are on hook already shows camping...and another survivor going down as he stands there. Is there more to say on the matter? CAMPING IS THE NEW META! As stated before...not every survivor ran exhaustion perks. Looping was far more fun and outplaying.

Sounds like the Survivors are playing overly altruistic. Only one Survivor should be attempting to make a play in the basement. If you the Survivors keep funneling into the basement instead of doing gens, what do you expect the Killer to do? This same exact scenario has been happening since the dawn of this game.
This photo also has 0 context. The Survivors could have very well all tried to save at the same time. The Killer could have seen one guy going to the basement and went back to defend the hook. As the 2nd guy was getting hooked, the 3rd guy probably tried to make a save and failed.
You legit can't blame the Killer for "camping" if you are literally running into his arms.

I really doubt you’re a survivor main when all your posts are so negative towards survivor.
I mean you can believe whatever you want. Most of my thrill in this game comes from running and hiding from the Killer. This is something I've been hearing since 2016, that because I call other Survivors out on their nonsense, that suddenly I'm not a Survivor main.
Is it so hard to believe that perhaps, just maybe, that I disagree with the majority of what Survivors say? No no, can't be. I MUST be a Killer main.

And a better Survivor will always find an opportunity 😏
-
As a solo Survivor main, cya. Game feels just fine to me.
Also as someone who's been playing since 2016, I've personally seen Survivors crying wolf far more than Killers have on the forums, but this is anecdotal evidence and doesn't really mean anything. Most of the toxicity I've seen in this game has came strictly from Survivors.
-

But that means you can't do gens just have to continue sprinting but if killer uses fearmonger that's actually good. But dh big problem was you could use it to reach pallet or window you would not reached otherwise but if sb would have same activation mechanism you could do that and gain even more distance.
What I meant was walking mid-chase after breaking line of sight in order to run down your exhaustion timer. If you're really good at looping and mind-gaming, you can get 2, maybe even 3 SB in a single chase. Of course this actually requires some skill, which old DH didn't.
-

It would be even stronger than old dh in some situations.
Besides, you can already kinda do this if you're smart with how you 99 it in a chase.

"Darkness Revealed, possibly combined with Lethal Purserer" - thank you. I tried DR on huntress, but only saw people 3 - 4 times in entire match, so I gave up on it. Combo with new LP is definitely interesting to try.
I love DR on Dredge, since it combos well with his power and sometimes I can get some really cheeky locker grabs with it.

Maybe they buff lithe or sb that you can activate them when you want.
As an avid user of Sprint Burst, being able to activate it whenever I want wouldn't be a good move in terms of balance.
-
If you notice that there are other survivors around you when you hook, that's their fault for keeping you around the hook, that's not camping. If they unhook in your face and you decide to go after the one they unhooked, that's not tunneling, that's punishing a bad play. If you aren't near the hook but you find the injured survivor soon after the unhook, that's not tunneling, you're going after an opportunity. If you feel bad about it, just slug them instead of hooking them. I call out Killers for camping, but mostly out of salt and an enjoyment for smack-talk, but people can play however they want.
These terms are made up by Survivors to make Killers feel bad about the way they play. Mostly because Survivors tend to be overly altruistic and end up causing their own downfall, yet decide to blame it on the Killer.
If you really don't want to be called out with surface level insults based on how you play, I recommend using something like Darkness Revealed, possibly combined with Lethal Purserer, with a Killer with strong map presence, like Blight, Nurse, Hillbilly, or Dredge. BBQ is still great, personally I never used it for the BP as when I did use it, I already had everything I wanted.
The problem stems from the majority of Killers having no map presence, so you have to take opportunities where you can get them. That's just how the game is designed.
-
"Death of survivors, perks are bad."
And yet here I am playing with Sprint Burst, Adrenaline, Blast Mine, and Urban Evasion (or Stake Out) and still doing just fine.

If you're "escaping" every game then you're playing bad killers which means low MMr.
Ah yes, I escape a lot, therefore, I must be facing bad killers. It can't be at all that I'm actually good at the game. Escaping every game will put you at high MMR, since your MMR raises only when you escape, so you're contradicting yourself here.
You're much more likely to get camped and tunneled at low MMR. As for slugging, there are several perks to counteract this. If I can do runs to high ranks with no perks, you can do the same with anti-slugging perks.

that's not accurate , you're an outlier. Just look around you, So many solo survivors are complaining there is something seriously wrong with how the patch went. if you can't acknowledge that then i don't know what to say
Survivors have pretty much always cried wolf at just about any changes that have come to the game at any point. "This will kill the game. Survivor side is dead. I'm quitting DBD. I'm only playing Killer from now on."
After 6 years none of this has come true. The HUD changes the devs proposed look interesting, but I could live without them as well.
-
Been solo'ing pretty much exclusively since 2016. Even played to (old) Rank 1 without any perks several times. Game is fine, just do better.
-
I never cared about BP, so it won't change how I use it. Then again, that was when I used to play Billy.
Now I really only play Dredge and Legion, neither of which I use BBQ on in the first place.
-
I've been having a blast with Blast Mine (heh), Quick and Quiet and Head-On. 4th perk right now is Iron Will before the nerf, but traditionally I would run Sprint Burst or Adrenaline. The 75% to grunts of pain nerf to Iron Will doesn't bother me, since going in a locker will still most likely have you completely silent for the most part.
-
Considering I solo q without any of the perks that are getting changed, I think I'll be fine. Sounds like your friends are getting carried by their builds, as opposed to actually being decent at the game.
-
As someone who solo-q's like 95% of the time, I gotta say.
Game is fine. I didn't play this game for 3 years and had no problems getting back into the swing of things, and none of the perk changes affect me because I don't use any of the perks anyway.
-
Normally I'm on the side of Killers when it comes to changes in this game, but this is just silly.

Sadly, Penits has confirmed that chaining Endurance effects is as intended, though they're listening to feedback. I have made it very clear that 4-6 health states before downing is insane. :)
Might as well just give the Survivors 4 base hits and remove Endurance completely at that point.
-
If they're gonna die on the hill of not giving back OG Legacy to the ones who lost it because of the way they saved data, what makes you think they'll change this?
-
@Seanzu said:
Yes, they've incentivised 4 gen slowdown perks by removing BP from BBQ.
Despite their goal to "move away" from the meta they've only made it stronger, which is fine - but honestly with a build that makes healing 3.56mins long or a gen 150 seconds solo on Plague it's going to be very hard to convince survivors to play for long periods.
3.56 minute heal time lolwut
-
@Phantom_ said:
If we're being honest most killers and survivors are probably less skilled and knowledgeable in comparison to these guys. Considering they have many thousands of hours on it and make some sort of living off of playing this game. Whereas the average player just plays it for the fun of it.
So I think most games will be okay. Maybe they can make OTR so that it stops working once a survivor is fully healed OR cannot body-block, similar to forced penance. Like if they do, fine, but then its entire duration is wasted. Or it simply makes them go through the killer/other survivors. That way they can't be tunneled but can't body-block either!
An easy solution would be to either make Endurance proc Deep Wound, and you cannot use another Endurance effect until Deep Wound is mended, or have a debuff like Exhaustion so you can't use two Endurance effects in a row.

Pointman is an interesting choice as a survivor - how would you translate his time dilation into a perk?
I'm not really sure to be honest, I was trying to think of that myself. I considering maybe anything that could affect any time related activities, like the EOG, or something that potentially gives the killer a small slowdown under certain circumstances to emulate his power.
