That’s not it. You want it to be to prove this ruin nerf has cost the game killer players, but it’s been like this since way before the ruin nerf. Nice try though.

I'm sorry, I'm aware that there's probably been a thousand threads like this already, but I'm just genuinely curious. Match making used to be a lot better (in my experience anyway), recently it's just been putting me with random people without regard of their rank.
I recently hit purple, hoping that the inconsistency would at least be less prominent, but there's no difference. I get paired up with yellow & grey ranks, even though I'm at purple.
Has anybody from BHVR spoken out on why it's like this? I really don't remember match making being this inconsistent.
I get rank 5-8 survivors as a rank 15 killer and as a rank 6 survivor I’m getting rank 16-19 killers. Sucks all around

I play both sides at high ranks and rarely get frustrated on either side, I’m also playing without ruin or noed currently (preparing for the nerf) I still manage to get 3/4ks consistently and have fun, I really don’t get the fuss.
As survivor, I’m not at all a toxic player so I was surprised by how many toxic survivors I’ve run into playing killer. They do frustrate me and I can always tell if it’s like a swf of 15 year olds. You might be more chill than me though. I’ve got anger issues.

It's not entirely unwarranted though. It's already more or less begun. Killer queue times are near instant, while survivor queue times are an eternity. That means there simply aren't many killers left compared to even a few months ago.
Yeah? Prove it. You all keep saying this as if to prove you were right, but on ps4 (where I play) survivor wait times have been long since I can remember, well before the ruin change. So why is that? Stop creating false statements to cater to your own ideas.

Honestly, since some people (toxic people) left cuz of ruin,we will have less toxic people in the game!
Omg this!!! After seeing the posts and complaints from people who are pressed over the ruin change, I actually hope they do leave the game. They take it way to serious, seem very toxic, and entitled. I’d rather they do stop playing. In a way, the ruin nerf could clear a lot of really toxic killer mains and be a blessing.

Please, pleassssssse don't act all awe and shock or even surprised when it happens, you put this on yourself.
Aren’t you bored talking about this yet? Go play a different game perhaps or take up a hobby (knitting).

I am a survivor main. Lately a PS friend was teaching me how to play killer. He shareplays with me and point out some flaws. I have been practicing to get better. I do my best not to tunnel or camp. I give the survivors equal opportunity to heal up and try to fix a gen after they get unhook. I occasionally patrol gens. I realize the BS that killers go through. From hate mail to a toxic SWF. Survivors are still very strong. When I play survivor, I don't T-bag the killer or do anything toxic towards them. Even if I play fair, the game robs me of stuff. I tried playing a perkless killer and I lost but at least i know what I need to work on. I wish survivor mains can play killer until they reach mid to high ranks to understand what needs to be done.
I did same thing. I survivor mained For nearly a year. Then I started playing Killer and I have a whole new respect for what they do. It’s hard and can be very annoying. As survivor, my friends and I don’t do half the crap survivors do when I play killer. Teabagging at doors, flashlights, etc. I really think everyone should play both sides to get perspective.
-
It’s so annoying to play survivor just because of wait times. You spend more time waiting than playing on ps4.

While I'd love to talk about it and share the deleted post since I have an image of it, that's against the rules.
Let's just say that the context of the post was ignored just like our calls for balance lol
I received two warnings today. One was justified and the second was for asking a question “trying to get false answers”. I asked about gen speed in a serious tone and it was removed because they thought I was joking.

Just wanted to hear you all's thoughts on the subject. I've been playing Billy alot lately to try to improve on him, and I use infectious fright on him. As far as slugging goes, my thoughts sre...I'll slug whenever the oppertunity arises. By that, I mean if I'm presented with a 2nd target to down...Ill take it.
To some though, slugging should really only be done as a last ditch effort or something. Just got out of a really close game that ALMOST ended really early with 3 ppl downed and me chasing the 4th, when unbreakable reared its head and saved the day for the survivors. Still ended up getting the 4k but only after 4 gens were done.
Endgame chat, one of em piped up "Imagine slugging with 4 gens up and with ruin still up as well". Whats you alls thoughts on this? Should the amount of gens remaining determine if I should slug or not?
I do 3rd person if it’s their last hook, so I can bait 4th to come in for the heal.

Now you're thinking that she gets overshadowed my most other Killers. But lets look:
- Exceptional chase times
- Mindgames and scare factor due to fear of setting off a trap; enhanced with addons
- Great map pressure due to teleportation
- Small terror radius and lots of synergy.
She is a wonderfully balanced and powerful killer, and IN MY OPINION is the best in the game.
Thoughts?
I love hag. She’s my main. Lots of map pressure, can teleport, and I’ve gotten good at placing my traps to get survivors much easier. After trying most killers, she’s been my favorite.

So to start this off survivors have been given an easy time for ages now and this is thanks to the Devs making it much easier for them and much harder for killers.
Btw to those saying I'm a killer main i actually play currently more survivor so trust me I know how annoying noed is.
But if I cannot slow gens down thanks to Ruin being nerfed into the dirt I'm going to focus near the end game for points instead. I'm sure I'm not the only killer that is going to be trying a noed/blood warden approach now that ruin is useless.
I do apologize to those survivors who can hit skill checks and do learn the game to get better but this is the reality of the game now. If killers have an almost impossible time in red ranks we are going to have to start using more irritating perks
Ugh these posts are so predictable now. You do you buddy and enjoy the game.

The above is true, although it's not possible to intentionally derank below rank 16 or 17. So they may have intentionally deranked, or they may just be veteran players who haven't played in a while and just got their ranks reset over time, or possibly a combination of the two.
Yeah something just felt off. Having played for about a year now, I can usually spot a newbie and these players were not at all new. All same exact rank too. Weird.

Agreed. It would be easy for them to pick 3 and reply.

Most do. I always would prefer a 4K when I play killer. I’m competitive and like to do my best, and I don’t see the issue with it. As survivor I want to escape, as killer I want to wipe the board. I don’t get mad if I don’t get a 4K but it is my usual goal starting game.

Yes and no. Hag is limited by her mobility and trap placement. This is further limited or potentially enhanced by add-ons. Against SWF who can literally say where a trap is being placed its nearly pointless. Trapper is in the same boat as hag. The only advantage they have is early game when usually the survivors spawn at the other end of the map and have no information on what the killer is doing. If you can't setup you usually always lose. Plain and simple.
Unless the survivors manage to throw the match. It's rare but it does happen every so often. Freddy is... viable and not at the same time. He's a bit of a mixed bag I'm still trying to get to work after they nerfed the forever Freddy build. He was still good with nerfed FF with ruin don't get me wrong. Now though, I suppose we will see.
Swf and hag are a nasty combo. I play hag and can immediately tell if the group is swf. They take out traps, try and distract me, etc. It can be brutal.
I can also usually tell who the ring leader is and make it my mission to at least take them out. Then they fall like dominos.

Are you mad? It appears you are wanting to fight or argue with someone/anyone and it makes me wonder why? Are you unhappy? Experiencing hardships? Seasonal depression?

@Exxodus21 said:
One thing I've noticed about the frustrations the community has with the devs, and I've felt this way too, comes from the overall lack of communication between the players and the devs. For instance, many players have brought up the issue of the sound in the game being bugged, yet I can't recall a single post where a dev has even acknowledged the issue. This gives the feeling that the devs are ignoring the players or are reluctant to aknowledge the problem because it isn't a priority.
Then there are suggestions like adding an additional objective for survivors or a new game mode and while those topics, from time-to-time, get acknowledged the information about them is vague at best. A recent example was a player brought up a concern about the difficulty leveling new killers with the new rank reset because they are permanently in purple and red ranks. A dev responded that there may be something in the works for that, but declined to give any further information. I'm not sure what the reasoning is for keeping something like this so secret. It's something the player's have been asking for and just knowing a rough timeline for something to be implemented or information on what type of new system the devs are working on would keep a lot of players interested and hopeful for the future.
The last major communication issue I see is "surprise" changes. The most recent examples being the Balanced Landing nerf, Freddy's add-ons nerf, and of course the Hex: Ruin nerf. Springing these changes on the player's without giving any indication that they were coming causes a lot of unwanted and unneeded frustration. It left the player's feeling like the devs were "x" sided and out of touch with their own game. Myself included. While I'm here I'm going to mention the last Designer Notes. The way they were written was a massive failure. They focused entirely on improving the game for survivors and gave no attention to improving the game for killers. No matter how you feel about the changes, it should be easy to see how a large portion of the playerbase felt as if they didn't matter. An easy fix would have been to acknowledge that toolboxes and other items/perks that speed up generator repair times are being looked at. A simple paragraph saying "We are aware gen speeds are a concern for killers. We are currently working towards adjustments for items and perks that speed up generator repairs. Once the changes to Hex: Ruin go live, we will be able to gather the necessary data to make the proper adjustments to the items in question. Killers, please feel free to share your thoughts with us about the adjustments you'd like to see at "insert feedback site." would have helped relieve a lot of the frustrations that were caused.
Here are a few changes I feel could greatly improve the communication between the players and the devs:
- Stop keeping information secret. Unless it's proprietary I have no idea why it's necessary to hide from the players upcoming changes to the game and what ideas are being considered. Just provide a rough timeline and give some information about what changes to game modes, killers, survivors, maps, etc you're considering, and invite suggestions from the players.
- Stop being vague. A lot of times you'll say "There may be an announcement about subject "x" soon. Just say you have an announcement next Tuesday or whenever the date is. Many times this information gets leaked anyway and the players wind up learning more about the game from external sources than from the devs themselves. To go along with this, when a leak happens acknowledge it and go ahead and release the information that day.
- Compile a list of the major concerns mentioned on the forum and social media sites for the week and address them at the end of the week. And again, don't be vague.
- Twice per month go onto different fog whisperers live streams and let them interview you via video chat. Let them ask questions from their community and address their concerns with the game. I think this will help the playerbase feel like you're paying attention and they'll know that you're listening to the problems they care about.
- Finally, engage more with people directly on the forum. Many posts about major issues come up and a dev will respond, but the response generally winds up being about something other than the OP. An example would be the main post is about something like the sound issues, you'll see that a dev responded so you go to see what they said about the sound issues, but when you find the response they were just telling someone that yes the devs do actually play their own game. I would like to see the devs pick out a couple of forum posts per day and really engage with the topic and the posters.
I really do think this would help. And if you need help I'm sure there are people that would love to volunteer or intern for experience (me) to help gather questions and concerns from the forums and other sources and compile them weekly, and even help with passing information back to the players.
Sorry for the long post and thank you for taking the time to read it. I'd like to see what suggestions other players have as well!
They do stay ignoring many questions. It may be because they don’t know how to answer just yet or have been told not to engage. I mean it would be nice to hear from them but I also understand it would be impossible to answer everyone.
I like idea of picking a few topics each week to respond on. Would calm a lot of people down.

I see a flux of posts today about people bringing up "stats" and 50/50 Win/Kill Ratio, or saying Killer's all want a 4K, etc..
I believe that these issues are not the underlying problem, I believe that these issues exist because of the underlying problem.
This game has an enormous skill cap, between Map Knowledge, Pallet Locations Knowledge, Pallet Loop Knowledge, Window Loop Knowledge, the ability to actually execute these things, how to work together as a Team for Survivors, when to get off a gen, go for unhooks, stay on gens, etc. etc..
That's part of the reason the game is great and keeps people coming back. However this creates a very very difficult problem for balancing. I am going to Copy/Paste a post I made in response to some of the other Threads that are speaking of this issue to explain myself, but the bottom line is this..
Killer's really honestly do have it too easy against Survivors that are not "Pro" it is true. Something should be done to make it easier for "newer survivors" to escape "average skilled killers" the balance is not there..HOWEVER, at the SAME TIME.. Survivors that are "Pro" and once you get into the Red Rank Survivors, that know exactly what they are doing, and work well with their teammates even in Solo Q, not to mention SWF with comms... all of the sudden Killer's begin to feel EXTREMELY weak and do not have enough tools to deal with these Survivors. They really don't! Which means that in the end Survivors actually do have the upper hand against Killers, but only once you get to a higher skill cap. Until then its the other way around... this is the true issue of balancing that keeps causing us more problems that needs to be looked at more in my opinion.. anyways here is my post about it in more detail:
"I don't think that the problem is Killer's wanting 4K, I personally don't care to get 4K as a Killer and this isn't the balance issue that we should be looking at, the issue which I explained in another similar thread just a moment ago is the following:
(One thing I will add is I have heard before from Killers at Red Ranks that it is extremely difficult to pip without getting 3-4K, I cannot speak to this because I have never even gotten to Red Rank as Killer before, probably because 100% of my matches in Purple Ranks are against full on Red Rank Survivors) Please Continue Reading to understand the bigger issue at hand:
The statistics are an issue that causes this problem of perception.
Truth is, Killer's are really easy to get 4K's with throughout the "majority" of ranks. Probably all the way to about Rank 8 or so it is very easy to get 4K as a "decent" killer with practice.
But once you hit Rank 8, all you end up facing are Red Rank Survivors. Rank 8-5 every single one of my matches had at least 3 Red Rank 2-4 Survivors and most of them were in parties of 2 or more SWF.
Once this happens, and you start playing against those type of Survivors.. all of the sudden you start seeing constant 4 Survivors escaping.
The bottom line, and truth of the game, is that once you get into "Red Ranks" which is the "End-Game" of DBD technically, especially for a Killer who automatically pips whether they try to or not because of EASY 4K's in Ranks 20-8 .. all of the sudden the game becomes EXTREMELY Survivor sided.
I really honestly wish we could just play an "Unranked" game mode for fun whenever we don't feel like playing like a "sweaty try-hard" or want to practice a new Killer, but there is NO SUCH GAME MODE... which means, we go from literally having to not try AT ALL to get 4K against bad Survivors to all of the sudden having to constantly try our HARDEST and still get wrecked by Pro Survivors.
A lot of this has to do with skill and the extreme learning curve and skill cap of DBD unfortunately, I suppose for both Killer and Survivor.. but there just really isn't a good middle ground.
Green ranks you would think is the middle ground, but it is still too easy for Killer.
Purple ranks is way too hard because you are now facing Red Rank survivors. Red Rank survivors are actually too good at the game, and have too many tools to succeed in safe looping Killers and Gen rushing and working as a team.
This means that in the END. ULTIMATELY the BEST KILLER in the entire game vs. THE BEST 4 SWF SURVIVORS .. will never really have a chance, unless he just gets super lucky. At 100% optimal performance, Survivors will ALWAYS win, because its 4v1.
This is the problem for Killers, and EVERY single time there is a new Killer Nerf to help "New Survivors" because it is TRUE that it is WAY TOO EASY to KILL *Inexperienced* Survivors.. it just Widens the gap even more for Killers to do well against the "Pro Red Rank Survivors" that are already dominating them.
At least this has been my experience thus far, and in my opinion the biggest issue with balance in DBD. Somehow Balancing has to be done in ways that make it more challenging for the "Pro Survivors" and yet easier for the "New Survivors" in order to be fair for the Killer. But as of now any Survivor change or Killer change effects ALL Survivors ability at the same time.
And by the way, I am only a Green/Purple Rank Survivor and I think Killers are WAY too strong against me, but I also happen to know that I am NO WHERE NEAR as good of a player as Red Rank Survivors who can do ######### I have never been able to do before ever.. and maybe never will be able to.. which means yes I WANT Killers to be weaker against "newer survivors or less skilled survivors such as myself" but at the same time KILLERS NEED to be Stronger against the pro best of the best Survivors that can LITERALLY bully Killers all game long and escape with 4 without even seemingly trying. "
I think this is too long for a casual user to read, but I applaud the effort and dedication.

I think the solution is pretty obvious. They are getting ready to introduce AI into the game to take the place of Killers.
In all seriousness, the developers don't actually play their game, and get their information from a select few number of influencers, which more often than not have the same views on the game and are biased toward one side.

Personally, idgaf. I’ve played plenty of games over the years, never paid attention to Patch Notes or “buffs/nerfs”.
its a game. Not my life. If you hate the developer for the game they’ve created and altered, move on to a new one.
Also, you can’t build a player base if new players aren’t welcome. The majority of this community despises anything that assists new players; which is why most of my IRL friends won’t touch this game. It’s unfriendly to newbies.
This! I started with a group after leaving f13 after two years of playing. Started dbd with 5 friends interested, and only two stuck with it. The others thought it was too hard and frustrating, which I get when you’re new. That grind is rough.

Oh yeah I forgot you mention you can’t have an opinion either because there’s always some asshat who rushes your posts to tell you how wrong you are. See above ;)
Britney was right when she said “ toxic”.

This is a good post and I agree. So many people rush to criticize and then the bandwagoning begins. The thing is the ptb is designed to get a feel for changes before they go live. If the devs didn’t care, there would be no ptb, surveys, or this forum. I think it’s sad how rude people are to the devs when none of us here have ever created a game or attempted to balance one as difficult as this one. Again, good post.

That was the issue. Neither of us could find the damn thing. It wasn’t in any usual spawn locations. Ended up being against wall in back of map. If I’d found it earlier I would have just hooked the afk one ASAP. Actually I don’t think I’ve ever had to look for a hatch that long as killer.

@Peanits is there anything that can be done to mute the noise after the first 5 explosions or something?
I just had a match on swamp. A player went afk with only two survivors alive. I couldn’t kill her or the other would get hatch, so I slugged her. The crows caused explosions for the next 10 minutes while I searched grass for a stupid blendette. Was driving me insane.

Anytime I can get a survivor who was trying to annoy me. Clicking flashlights, tea bagging behind a dropped pallet. I adore killing them.
