  • I was really getting into playing killer but as I rank up it’s pretty unfair. I don’t know how red ranks do it. I’m still fairly new to killer (rank 12-13) and used to only play survivor. It’s nice seeing both sides.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/123022/what-if-totems-were-locked-and-survivors-needed-to-find-key

Honestly, I'd love to see a lingering effect come into the game. But its weaker than what it was before the totem was destroyed. For example, if Ruin was broken, it would go from 200% regression to 105% or something like that for the rest of the game.

As survivor it would just be nice to have another objective to make game interesting. As killer the stress is already sky high so no objectives need to be added right now on that side.

When you have DS, dead hard and borrowed time

Everyone has perks and add ons that piss the other side off. There’s no way around that. Bottom line is killers need survivors and survivors need killers for game to exist. All this back and forth crap is so tiresome and just pointless at this point. The only group we should be angry at is the devs for refusing to address huge issues that have been happening forever now. Matchmaking, ranking system, totems spawn locations, maps, etc. This is the stuff that matters, not perks or who has what.

Obviously both sides are passionate about the game but are failing to realize the quality of life in game all boils down to the devs and their priorities and decisions. Arguing On here doesn’t do ######### to solve any of that.

For years we have hid in the shadows. Waiting for that moment when we can rise. THIS IS OUR MOMENT. COME AND AWAKEN FROM Y'ALL'S SLUMBER AND TAKE BACK WHAT'S OURS. Grab your insidious, bring your NOED and let's put the fear back into LF. Our journey will be a treacherous one. Full of the salt and tears of the survivors trapped in our basement, but we will carry onwards. BUBBA GANG 4 LIFE!!!!!!

Oh hun. Bubba never didn’t use noed, insidious, or didn’t camp. It’s his way, it’s all those players know to do lol

  • I think the flashlight burning traps and crouching should be taken out. Hag traps are too easy to disassemble. Maybe just remove crouching but keep the flashlight.

  • As survivor he still sucks to go against just because it’s so annoying and unfun. As killer he seems very strong.

  • Trapper is annoying as is doc. Billy needs a nerf big time. I think pig could use a buff. I’m not sure what can be done about legion.

  • I forgot trapper. I’d say for me the doctor and trapper are the most obnoxious. I’d say bubba and wraiths because they always camp, but I think the trapper and doctor are still the worst.

To both killer and survivors, and those of us that play both. (Everyone should play both at some point though.)

I would say this more from a killers perspective, and at all ranks (although with MM as it is, rank is kind of meaningless rn)

But how often do you 4k, or escape, and feel that you earned it? I would probably say I 3 or 4k 80% of games. However I rarely feel like they are close games, or that were "fun for both sides"

At red ranks, there is normally at least 1 survivor that dosnt know how to loop and use pallets properly, don't know how to run gyms and have no clue what pallets are safe or unsafe and most will make some sort of mistakes. This dosnt feel rewarding to win.

(Ranging from slip ups getting me a hit, to just being complete potatoes) If I was to go back over every kill I have (And ngl, its in the thousands.) most are directly down to the survivors doing the wrong thing.

In a game where survivors don't make mistakes, I lose, almost 100% of the time.

If a game ends in a 2k (the stated aim) it feels like a loss, gens get done, little pressure is applied, and the game is in the survivors hand. The games I win, often feel like im just steamrolling.

Close games do happen, but t least in my experience, things are such feast or famine, that the overall global stats must be skewed so heavily by the majority of bad survivor players.

    Anyone else feel this way?

I’m okay with it if there is no taunting or toxicity on both sides. It’s rare though. With ranking system I’m getting rank 16 killers as a rank 6 survivor and vice versa. That with a crappy team and it sucks.

  • @GH0ST3D said:

Why is it that I hit the skill check on doc but don't stun him instead I just get hooked? It has happened every match against him but not against other killers

He’s actually very unfun to play against. I don’t care for the rework at all and as one of the most annoying killers in game, he’s now everywhere. I wish they reworked someone else.

  • @Zixology said:

I'm not saying that camping isn't a strategy, but have a little empathy and hear me out (Do it. You won't.)

What incentive does the camped person have to not just die immediately? They earn nothing from it. And whether or not their team gets gens done while they still have to sit there and not get to play the game doesn't mean anything to them.

So yeah, why should they bother keeping themselves alive rather than just killing themselves and finding a match that they can actually play in?

Honestly camping is really only used by low low rank (16-20) killers because they don’t know better. Anyone doing it on higher ranks is toxic, bad at game, or a bubba.

  • @Regionlock said:

So I come back from a long break and notice they made a training wheel Billy with a high pick rating. In what world do people think it's hard to play this guy. Even tho billy power is more frequent at least it takes more USER control and skill, this oni character lacks all those checkboxes. I'm sorry oni mains.

Not from what I’ve seen. He’s a basic killer used by newbies to get 4ks easy.

  • @TommyFredo said:

Spirit. She doesn't take any skill to play. Nurse at least takes hours on hours of practice, Spirit can be picked up by a 3 legged dog and still manage a 4k.

    • Remember, this is an opinion.
    • Tell me what killer you believe is most overpowered and why.
    • I understand killers as a whole are at a disadvantage, but there are many killer mechanics that are overpowered, tell me your opinion.

I’d say bully. Spirit takes some learning and before nerf her and nurse dominated. Now he’s billy or maybe Frederick.

After the mid chapter patch it feels as like they changed how survivors turn when running. It might just be me but did they mention anything like this in the patch notes?

I noticed as hag if I move anything on controller she flies in wrong direction which made chases awful for me. I’m on ps4.

  • Yeah it’s brutal. The whole atmosphere of game is not great. Toxicity on both sides and it’s just not fun. I’m thinking of taking a break.

  • I agree. Playing killer is a miserable experience. I’m not sure what the devs were thinking.

  • @Alpha8512_Xbox said:

Honestly Ruin was such a crutch for killers. It was so boring playing against a trash killer patrol 3 gens around Ruin. Now survivors can actually play game without a crutch perk RUINing the match. Thx BHVR devs <3

  • No I’ve tried. Just turn off notifications as it’s non stop arguing.

  • @neekocheeko said:

If you choose to play this way survivors will also respond. You will see even more DS, unbreakables, toolboxes etc. It works both ways, I don't understand why people always have to pick a side.

I see this every game anyways. You forgot tea bagging, flashlight clicking, and taunting at exit gates. ;)

  • @DBD78 said:

We have accepted the unwritten rules of the game to make everyone have as much fun as possible, but now everything has changed. It's time for killers to unite! They only want survivors to have fun and no stress, well enough is enough! From now on:

1: Facecamping, camping, tunneling, slugging..play as you want, do as you want.

2: "Blame Ruin nerf" this is the only message to give complaining and toxic survivors after the game.

3: Giving survivors the hatch or let them escape? Not anymore! We get nothing, they get nothing.

You might face the survivors alone every game, but you are not alone. We stand strong together! This is the only way to make them listen to killers, it's when survivors complains. When the message from both sides is the game was better before Ruin nerf, then they must do something about it.

Honestly you have to resort to some tactics otherwise frowned on in the wake of the changes. The survivor guide to polite playing is now garbage and obsolete.

Back in 2016 when the game was very mutch unbalanced towards the surviver side they actuelly decided to increase the generator time. Thats why i think there is other solutions to the problem some people are having. Today the game is so mutch more balanced compared to 2016 and with means that they should not change the generator time again.

It depends on map and skill level. Also what killer you play. If you’re a hag, trapper, basically any m1 killer, you just can’t patrol and cover enough map area to put pressure on the gens with 80 seconds. You toss in a few toolboxes and no ruin and it’s game over.

  • @Bill_I_Am__Overbeck said:

Anyone else seen a recent upsurge of toxic survivors lately? I've been seeing a lot more t-bagging and BMing after this update was pushed, versus before the update survivors were a lot less cocky. Anyone else experiencing this?

100%. It’s too bad because it just shows that this community is toxic and one side can never just act right. The toxicity amongst survivors was all time high today.

  • @underlord99 said:

With the gutting of ruin setting up as trapper is almost impossible, I mean sure I get two traps down but man . I miss the days where I could put a couple of nice traps down before 3 gens popped.

I know a lot of people will probably tell me "Use corrupt" and they're wrong. as trapper you dont want the survivors to see where you place your traps , corrupt pushed them towards you which is counterproductive.

Regardless of what anyone says, the ruin nerf destroyed the viability of any killer who can’t teleport or chainsaw. That’s a fact.

  • @ProfessorDunwich said:

I do not think I am alone in this. And it seems with Ruin gone it has escalated greatly. You are supposed to be a powerful killer but instead you are mocked, disrespected and there is very little you can do about it. Not much more sucks than being bullied by multiple people, feels like absolute garbage.

If people continue to feel this way, they will not play killer. Simple as that. There will be no game.

I agree. As a survivor main I’ve never tea bagged or went out of my way to bother the killer. As killer, especially today, the survivors are top tier in toxicity. I can’t do ######### to slow game down and they know it. Feels bad.

You’re looking at it all wrong. Relax and have fun through out game, and do the best you can. Then bam, end game comes and everyone pays the piper. I love end game builds.

I'm about to hit 4k hours in dbd. I was a long time supporter since its release and went through all of it.

U already made me nearly quit playing killer after this unreasonable nurse basekit nerf. If you are going to touch Billy in any way, I will quit playing killer and I will quit supporting u guys with my money.

I have to mention this because I see many baby survivors are trying to hit on Billy recently.

Seriously BHVR. Before making a move and try comforting babies who will quit your game with the next call of duty release anyway, you should take the words of us veteran players serious. I closed my eyes after many many VERY questionable decisions from you. Nerfing Billy will not make me close my eyes again, I will just move to something else.

He needs a change to his add ons so he can’t rush about so quickly. It’s not fun for new survivors and gives him too much map pressure. Devs said on twitters he’s on their list of over performing killers.

  • Lord no. Only children and people trying to be toxic would post that crap. The killer knows they did bad, they don’t need a snotty survivor rubbing it in.

  • @johnmwarner said:

I see post after post, thread after thread made talking about the matchmaking ness right now. Screenshot after screenshot of a rank 12 killer going against all red rank survivor.

Last night as a solo survivor my team was all rank 1-2 and we had a rank 17 trapper... the guy literally got zero downs.

But the devs haven’t made a post or Twitter about it. Haven’t responded about it. In fact I actually saw one hop into a thread about matchmaking and reply to a quote about killer balance (trapper vs Billy,) while completely ignoring the actual thread topic.

So is BHVR dead set against even acknowledging this problem anymore? @Peanits are they all still on Christmas break? What is the plan because it’s not fun to steamroll a killer like that and I can’t imagine it will keep them coming back either.

And please don’t say they’ll learn to get better, the gap between 17 and 1 is way too big for them to be learning much, even with how inflated red ranks have gotten. And if you try to tell them something endgame chat you get accused of being mean somehow.

It sure defeats the purpose of the ruin nerf. They stated ruin was too difficult for new players. You know what’s even more difficult for a new player? Going against red rank survivors as a rank 17 trapper......WITHOUT ruin. Lol. The matchmaking is so busted right now and they refuse to comment or address it in any way.

  • @ReallyBigShoe said:

None of them will ever do this challenge. They'll say they did, and write long drawn out posts about it attempting to validate their abysmal logic, but that's about it. We all know what they really are. Survivor mains who want an easy game.

Can I ask how old you are?

  • @MysterTal said:

(EDIT: amended a few requirements to make the challenge more approachable)

Record and post at least 10 matches on YouTube.

    The rules are simple:

    • The gameplay must be your own. You cannot use anyone else's. It must be you playing.
    • You must play as the Hillbilly. You cannot play any other Killer and you cannot play Survivor.
    • You cannot use Addons of any kind.
    • You cannot use Offerings of any kind.
    • You cannot use any Perks.
    • You must attempt to use the chainsaw to down Survivors whenever possible and you must always try to use the chainsaw first.
    • You must kill all four Survivors every match.
    • You cannot disconnect from a match, regardless of map or if you're losing.

The purpose of this experiment is simple: you will test, for yourself, whether or not Billy is "broken", "unbalanced" or "unfair" by relying solely on Billy's Power.

If Billy's Power is truly broken, then you should be able to easily 4k every single match regardless of map, whether or not you're up against adept Survivors or any other factor besides the Power alone.

Looking forward to seeing the results.

Lol this is the most entitled and biased thing I’ve seen today. Congrats.

  • @Psypho_Diaz said:

So proxy camping can arguably be necessary as survivors often are already in the area waiting to unhook. Especially with a good headgear and the sound of pitter patter near by as you hook.

But I literally just had a doctor sit face to face with his first victim in The first hook of the game until they died which gave us time to do gens (minus his buddy who sat and waited like a potato.

Does some camping on the second survivor he finds, until the 3rd went for the save and then chased him. I fixed 3 gens and cleanse 3 totems. Get downed by NOED and die on hook. Only one made it out alive.

I did my best to get work done while he was occupied but I wasnt running with a tool box and I'm not the best at finding skill checks when they move, but I didn't get to really do anything to earn bloodpoints that match. Altruism was a bunk since the killer sat right in front of his hooks and my only boldness was the totems..... Or standing near the killer which is a water of time.

Not only does face camping destroy the camped survivors fun but greatly hinders the other survivors from getting points as well. At the end of the match the killer some how accured 25k bloodpoints whole the surviving player only got 17k. I was at 13k and again I did majority of the gens. This literally makes it look like the killer is awarded for such a gameplay when he did nothing while everyone else playing smart are penalized. Is it so hard to subtract points from like brutality or hooks when they are 0.1m away from the hook staring at it? Or at least giving the hooked survivor some distraction points (altruism)?

I don't think killers should be able to earn above 15k when they are face camping for so long. It really just ruins the game.

**Post edit after reading some bad commenters**

I'll just keep ruining the game for new players, hopefully the player pool isn't affected. But thanks for defending my choice by saying it's legitimate.

Was it a rank 16-20 killer? Because they are notorious for this play style. I chalk it up to not knowing better. If it wasn’t, the person is just a crap player with no skill.

I saw someone mention that a person on the hooks timer should pause if the killer is within a certain radius of the hook. Like it could be close but not face camp close. This would solve a lot of issues with this. If they did camp, you’d just hang until they got far enough away, but not enter struggle stage.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Optimal killer versus optimal swf the winner is not always survivor. The outcome of a match is determined entirely based on killer and map at that point. Sure most killers are weak and most maps are strong for survivors but that doesn't mean the game is survivor sided. This mindset is unfounded and outdated. I don't think killer will ever be stronger tbh. 2 escapes for survivors is not a win despite how bad the pipping system is.

Well with survivor the initial grind is brutal. You constantly die and killer is so easy on ranks 14-20 or so. Then as survivors get better and better over time, it appears they are op, especially in swf. Red and purple rank survivors have put in mad time and gotten quite good, and killers often can’t keep up this point. So yes the game seems survivor sided at red and purple ranks, but is killer sided on green and yellow/brown. Throw in a busted matchmaking system and it can be terrible.

Isn’t this the general consensus ? Haha

I am not the greatest killer, I.e. I always get 360’d easy no matter how much I keep telling my brain “don’t swing yet, don’t swing yet, don’t sw-“ .. 360’d... ”[bad word]!!”

I hit ranks 12-10 as a killer and while I have some games where I can beat a mix of purples and reds most games I cannot and i am tired of being matched with most people 5 ranks above.

OP: I started playing this game 3 months ago maybe 4. I JUST started playing Freddy a couple weeks back. No matter what killer you play, maybe except for Billy, as others have stated: don’t focus on defending every single gen everywhere. One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was the 3 gen strategy. Meaning: it is rare to stop 2 gens from being done, sometimes 3. The mentality is to know that 2-3 m will probably get done. So maybe concede those 1 or 2 gens far away. Try to find 3/4 gens all fairly close to each other and that should be your territory. It’s not always easy or works out that way, but the point is not to not travel the entire map trying to prevent all gens from being done or patrolling the whole map for survivors. That’s what I try to do.

And don’t ever freak out if 3 gens are done! If you are hooking survivors, you still have a chance to at lest get 1 killed if not 2. Things can start to snowball with 3, 2 even sometimes 1 gen left. It has happened to all us Killers maybe even you ! You think you are gonna lose the match then the next thing you know you get 2, 3 maybe even all 4 killed with 1, 2 gens left.

I had a game just yesterday where I had Ruin and no one got any gens done at all! And this was not against all low ranks either.

Of course there are plenty of games where I get demolished but i am not a great killer so I expect that 😂🤕

This is true. I had a game with 4 gens done and my totems gone. I considered giving up but somehow I ended up getting 3 at end game because they were all attempting rushed saves.

  • @Clevite said:

Like the title says. I was a killer main for 7 devotions. Now I am about to finish my first devotion as a survivor main.

I felt I had accomplished all I could as killer. And I wanted to get as good as the survivors that were making my games so sweaty.

Also survivor is less stressful to me than killer.

    So why did you switch?

I switched to killer because I wanted to see another perspective. Playing killer has made me a better survivor as well, and showed me how frustrating playing killer can be. That and with killer I don’t have to rely on a crap team.

  • @Kwanghyun said:

Seriously...there is times when all you deserve is a 3k because the gens were done and you couldn’t stop the last guy from opening a well deserved gate. Or even if they find the hatch that’s fair enough. BUT why the hell does the freaking hatch spawn when the survivors did littearly 0%of their ONLY objective (which could be done insanely quickly especially with new ruin) and still escape. Even if you are the one who finds the hatch first the game still gives a chance to the last potato and powers the gates, and most of the time you get there it’s already opened and you see the last trashbag survivor tbaging at the gate like they won, but again they did freaking NOTHING. A game where the killer completelly dominates (which is thanks to the survivors being bad) shoulnd never end with anyone escaping. They littearly get TWO more chances to get away and it’s just dumb. I advise that, the hach should only spawn from 2 gens like before. Being able to close it was not a trade off but necesarry. There is no reason for it to spawn when nothing is done.

I agree. It should spawn after at least one gen but not if team did nothing.

wow just yesterday I was playing bubba and hooked a meg in the basement at the start of the match in the killer shack on the swamp map, came upstairs and saw someones green shirt on the other side of the wall so I exited the shack looked left and saw two survivors against the killer shack wall crouched. I hit one which was a bright green shirt Claudette and the other survivor was a nea. The nea fast vaults the window and goes for the save. So naturally I follow her downstairs and chainsaw her as she goes for the unhook. She gets the unhook And I got a double hit with the chainsaw but nea had borrowed time. I hook nea turn around and go to leave up the stairs but as soon as I turn the corner to head up the stairs a brown shirt Claudette runs by me like I’m not there. I get another double chainsaw hit but no borrowed time this time. I hook the brown shirt Claudette and as I’m hooking the nea the green shirt Claudette unhooks the brown shirt Claudette then I chainsawed the green Claudette. brown shirt Claudette unhooks nea then the green shirt Claudette disconnects as I’m hooking her. I end up slugging nea at the top of the stairs afterwards. Zero gens were done at this point so I Took a break and let them heal and do 3 gens then I killed them all. I Got called a sorry basement camper but honestly they didn’t give me a chance to leave it and I was being nice after the DC and poor survivor play and still get called names. I guess I’m suppose to let them all live or it’s not being nice.

Never listen to the salty losers in chat. It’s easy to sling insults behind the safety of a computer screen. These are people angry they lost. Lucky on ps4 we don’t have chat, and I’ve set my messages to NOPE.

    *Match Starts*

David has Object of Obession and is chasing me with a flashlight.

I ignore. Proceed to chase the lonesome Meg. Hit Meg, she drops flashlight. Throws down two pallets, why? Who knows. Down Meg. Hook Meg. David tries to flashlight bait me while running circles around the hook. I crank chainsaw and go for him.

Feng runs by me. I turn, chainsaw Feng and the Meg she unhooked. Proceed to chase David. He baits, I turn back and hooks Feng. I pick up Meg. DS’d me. Cool.

Lose Meg. Go for Claudette. She just finished a gen. I hit Claudette. She runs, pallets, I get flashlighted by David who’s been chasing me the entire match. Lose Claudette.

Claudette rushes out of a locker, I turn, down Claudette. Hook Claudette. Feng dies on hook. Meg comes for the hook rush. Down Meg. Hook Meg. Meg - dead. Feng - dead. Claudette - dead. (Apparently I facecamped because they kept camping by the hooked).

BBQ shows that David is across the map on a generator. I go to David, he tries to loop, pallet stun fails. Gets hit. Runs.

Little did he know, his teammates wasted Pallets. Runs to a dead end. Downed. Dead. I close hatch. Game over.

lmfao ######### is wrong with you guys? You sit behind a tire, wall, etc by the hook and I see you and you expect me to what? Run to a corner and count to 30?

Lol this! This is how 75% of my killer games go as well. They rush hooks and get mad I didn’t go wait in corner for them to rescue. What thought process is that?

I downloaded this game maybe 2 months ago. I enjoyed the aspect of being able to play a killer and taking out a group of survivors. I've enjoyed playing Freddy a lot for the gen suppression benefits, the traps and pallets, and because of my childhood memories of nightmare on elm street. The game is great i will tell you that much. I love it still. But right now it seems that im at a huge disadvantage.

I know all you survivor mains are just gonna say "well git gud" or some dumb stuff, but just hear me out. Gen rushing is a huge problem right now. It already somewhat was to begin with, but now its insane. Every game it seems that im being dropped to 2 or 3 gens withing the first 5-7 minutes of the game. and im busting my ass trying not to be. I use dream projection almost on cooldown to get cross map and to divert where i know that the gens will be being done and i pallet and snare respectively as i should. but it seems nothing works to stop gens being rushed.

Its impossible to level any killers because the game ends before you can rack up more than 20k bp. Meaning the perks you need to actually do anything in the game seem so far that it makes you just not want to play. And thats a problem. Because lack of incoming playerbase is how games die.

Im not saying that survivors are necessarily too strong right now because that may not be the case, but i am saying there should be some sort of implementation to the game that can help towards eliminating gen rush so early. And i know all you killer mains are upset about ruin, but honestly, did it really even work? I mean, once you got past a certain level and start playing against better survivors, they could still rush you with a ruin. Or look for common totem locations and break the hex anyways. And tremors can be countered by spreading and doing gens cross map it seems. So I just feel we need a better way to at least slow it down.

I just think it seems out of hand, but I am open to suggestion that may help in any way because again I am a newer player. But toxicity solves nothing. So lets be cordial

I’ve had game a long time but only used to play survivor. I started playing killer a few weeks ago and I had fun on ranks 20-15. Then I started matching with rank 4-6 survivors and it sucks!!! They all team up and are toxic af. Borrowed time, flashlights, endless loops, and gens being done so fast I can’t even catch up. My hope is I do get good, but the matchmaking seems brutally unfair at moment.

  • I love kindred. It not only shows where my teammates are and if someone’s going to a rescue, but I can see if killers camping as well. I think it’s the best one.

I think Hag is 100% the most balanced killer. She takes quite a bit of know how and can have a huge effect on the game while not remaining overbearing on pro-survivors and not being too underbearing for noobie-survivors.

What I like about hag is she takes skill to learn and really get good at, like the nurse. Once you do get good, they’re very hard to beat. Billy is easy and gets a lot of kills without skill, which is why he’s so popular, but also why I don’t like him. He’s great for new killers but once people rank up they tend to move on to other killers.

  • Thank you for sharing your story. You’re so brave.

So... I made a post you guys liked about your NEMESIS as survivor, but now IT'S THE KILLER'S TURN!

Do you have a specific survivor/skin you know it's gonna be trouble in paradise for you?

I'LL START: P3 Quentin, not many, but whoever dares to play Quentin and P3 him deserves respect...

I main hag so Nea with a flashlight is always trouble. Claudettes are a pain as well.

Match lasted a little over 5 minutes, all 5 gens repaired and exit gates open. One chase lasted the entire game as they went looping around one pallet to the next, got hit, had someone else run in to body block. Were healed by the time the other survivor was hit, then they swapped again. Used a red syringe to heal in the middle of chase. Then walked out the exit doors. Didn't leave chase the entire game. How is that fun? Not hiding for one second, not having any reason to be afraid of the killer, and having a game shorter than the queue time. Eight pallets looped, not including windows. If you want to balance around what's frustrating, maybe start with that. Way too many pallets and way too short repair time on gens.

That’s where went wrong. One chase lasted whole game. Never be afraid to drop chase and patrol gens.
