Oh, here we go with the "you must be insecure" strawman argument. Let us dance to this song again, shall we?

"I think the biggest issue here is killers want easy 4K games that take no skill. It’s harsh but true."

"...But the bottom like of all this anger over ruin is that many killer mains just aren’t that skilled as they never had to be, and they don’t want to work towards being better."

If that doesn't come across as trying to put down a specific group of people or attempting to demean them by calling them bad/unskilled and just wanting to try and get an easy pass, then feel free to elaborate on what you actually mean, because that's what it feels like to me.

Well you latched onto my comment for a reason. Think about it. If I said something you were 100% sure didn’t apply to you, you would have kept it moving, but you responded. So why is that? It’s psych 101.

Also I said “many killers”, not all, so why did you take it upon yourself to reply unless you think you’re one of the “many” I was referring to

Would it help if I said I’m sure you’re an amazing killer and didn’t rely on crutch perks to play the game? That the devs are idiots who ruined the game?

Honestly he needs a look at. Too many bad killers use him as a crutch, especially at ranks 10-20.

I have no idea when you started but I assume when you played killer the survivors were around your skill level but that might have been when matchmaking was better nowadays a killer can be paired with any rank which hurts both parties since it's a miss match of skill

Imo survivor is really only brutal if you have potato teammates who take 5 min to do a single gen but you can't really change potato

Oh no. The matchmaking blows. I’m rank 4 survivor and rank 12 killer. I keep getting matched with rank 4-6 survivors when playing killer. That would need to be top priority getting fixed before they could make any perks locked.

Ive started mainly playing killer to get insight into what it’s like so I can be better at game and see issues from both sides.

And that's why it is frustrating. You need to have a mental clock in your head every time someone gets unhooked.

Yeah but you get used to it. It only gets annoying if all the characters are the same lol.

    That's you.

You do not speak for everybody, and you certainly do not speak for me. "Fun" is subjective. What you find fun, may not be fun for everybody else.

I do not find stomping survivors and getting a 4k in a couple minutes fun. Nor do I find it fun to be able to rush the killer in 4 minutes and be out the exit gates by 5 with having maybe 15 seconds of interaction with the killer player the entire game. And I can certainly say that I do not find it fun when I am the killer and that happens to me, which it very frequently does, because many of the killers I like to play are low tier killers like Clown, Trapper and Wraith.

I can say with certainty as well that I do not like having two of my generators pop before I literally can even do anything about it. That's why I ran Ruin, even when it was frequently popped in the first 45 seconds of the match, because at least it made half of my matches a little bit more enjoyable and not end in 5 or 6 minutes.

Not because I wanted an easy 4k.

Not because I suck at the game.

    Not because I'm unskilled.

But because I found games ending more than 5 or 6 minutes to be more enjoyable. For everyone.

There are many survivors who find matches ending in 5 or 6 minutes to be unenjoyable too, and they as well do not want Ruin to be nerfed because they know that the time for survivors to complete generators is way too fast.

I never said I spoke for you. I sense you’re triggered by me saying certain killers are unskilled, which leads me to believe this may be an insecurity you have? Most people don’t take things to heart unless it hits home. Feels bad man.

    Torchbearer

Extinguish a hex and carry its flame to any dull totem, with the effect inactive during that time. You can carry the flame for 1/2/3 minutes before the hex dies out and is lost. While carrying a flame, the auras of all dull totems are visible. Upon lighting a new totem, this perk has a 2 minute cooldown.

This would be pretty dope actually. My hexes never fail to spawn in the most obvious locations.

  • @Groxiverde said:

    Can you nerf it?

    Thank you in advance!!!

It’s pretty easy to counter. Just slug the survivor and because they’re all so damn altruistic, another one will rush over to heal and you get a twofer. Never fails me.

So what's the point of locking perks behind rank if only new player mainly new killer players suffer

The reason I say killer players because low rank survivors can still be in a swf and ranking up with survivor is easier not to mention right now low rank killers can get paired with red rank survivors

What do you think would help balance the game for new vs seasoned players?

Well they’d have to tweak it to find the sweet spot, but when I started killer I had no perks besides base and got 4ks pretty quick. I didn’t suffer playing as a new killer. Now as survivor, it was brutal for a loooong time.

  • @OmegaXII said:

Why should i win as killer? Why should i spend so much time just to get good and sweat myself to win in a game, especially playing as nurse? I got nothing in return except salt and hate mails, not even fun.

On the other hand, survivors are all chilling while watching you sweat so much to flood your room lol. You'll ask why don't i play as survivors, it's because it's so chill that it's boring for me to play as survivors lol.

So i decided to just play meme builds and low tier killers. Then i can at least chill and enjoy my free time.

    Anyone else with me?

PS: No, i wasn't having a bad game just before posting this. In fact, i just woke up in bed lol.

Depends if you’re a super competitor person or not. Some are fine meming and being more laid back and some like to go HAM.

So killers don't want an easy 4k then.

You can't say they want an easy 4k but claim they want points. The two completely contradict each other.

Did you also know that nobody gets many points when generators are done in 4 minutes and the survivors are out the exit gates by 5 and only two people got hooked the entire game?

You can want both. I know I do when I main killer. I aim for a 4K and I want a butt load of points. Why wouldn’t I? I love a competitive game but don’t care for when it’s too hard either. I’m being honest.

  • @terumisan said:

What happens if you intentionally derank or rank reset happens

Well that already happens, more than it should. I had a game earlier where every survivor (swf) was rank 16-18, yet had all purple top tier perks. One had p3 clothing on. They also played very well....too well for those ranks.

Deranking takes time and is unfair, but there’s no way around it if a person opts to do that.

When you figure out a solution to help killers not have 3 generators not popping within the first minute of the match, or having two generators pop because they spawned in Red Forest in the opposite corner of survivors and said generators pop before they can physically get there, you let me know.

But nah, I guess because I don't want that to happen, that desires makes me a crappy unskilled entitled killer main who wants a sweaty 4k. Yay. /s

Don't you think if killers truly wanted easy 4ks, that moris would be ran a hell of a lot more than they are?

Yeah but they want points too and Moris really zap the points earned.

  • @Zephinism said:

But I've seen people ######### if they get a 28K + BBQ if the last guy gets out via hatch.

They just wanna 4K cause that's the goal they set themselves as a Killer. But if all Killers 4K all the time no survivors would play.

And that’s the issue. As new survivors, the grind for them is tough. Killers at rank 15-20 are getting easy 4K matches and if they use ruin, it’s a massacre. This drives new players out, which devs want to correct for obvious reasons.

I remember when I started playing survivor we never escaped. It was so rare and my friends and I were so frustrated. When I started killer, it was so easy. I didn’t start having sweaty games until rank 13 and that’s largely due to getting matched with rank 5-6 survivors ( what’s that about?).

  • I think you need to adapt and stop taking game so serious. It’s one perk (ruin) and people are acting like it’s end of world. Who cares? Honestly ruin never lasts anyway.

  • @Lovegoddess said:

The one thing I hate about survivor mains is if they get their way 90% of the time when it comes to the devs they go on a rant about how ruin is unfair and now because noobs can't seem to hit skill checks ruin is getting nerfed you know. I can't hit the skill checks on ruin but that doesn't mean that I can't learn to do the skill checks on ruin it's all about adapt and learn as you learn you adapt. ruin is a hex it is very easily countable if you can't counter a ruin why are you even playing this game. Killers have been nerfed a lot vs. Survivors perks there has been more nerfs in killers and their perks why are you guys such whiny babies just like you guys have said to me on countless times get good and that's what I'm telling you get good you whining survivor mains. You realize the one they Nerf ruin there will be a lot of camping a lot of tunneling a lot more Morrie's so I hope that you survivor means happy with yourself I hope you enjoy what you've done to the community cuz I will tunnel you more so than ever before be prepared PS4 users cuz I'm coming for you

Oh wow. What an absolute beast! Threatening players who had nothing to do with devs choices. A living legend right here!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/119713/you-took-all-my-fun-and-its-not-funny-anymore

New ruin is better than old, so I don’t see why you complain about it. Also, many killer mains such as Otz and tru3 shown that killers who was called “weak” in red ranks are actually viable. I play killer as Myers and usually going up against teams being 4-1 with me getting a 3k or more each game. I honestly don’t see the problem with gens going “too fast” because I will always end up getting a 2k at least in those situation. So when I hear people complain as a survivor or killer, I don’t get how you guys make it out to be so stressful or too difficult as if you can’t put yourself in lower ranks if you are finding it too hard. There are many other killer mains capable of handling red rank lobby which is why the devs shown a graph of all killers getting above a 2k in red rank lobby.

I think the biggest issue here is killers want easy 4K games that take no skill. It’s harsh but true. Many have proven all killers can be viable with practice. Devs have said a good game is two escape and two die, but that’s not how it’s been for a long time.

I get pipping is hard with two kills, and that should be fixed. But the bottom like of all this anger over ruin is that many killer mains just aren’t that skilled as they never had to be, and they don’t want to work towards being better.

  • @Poochkips said:

(Ruins nerf seems to be causing a fun uproar...I've started relying on overcharge and PGTW more than ruin.. (Hit or miss tbh.) There seem to be ideas of everyone being toxic from killer side here and passing it around. While some say "It's for pressure related reasons" It feels the anger is being taken out less on the devs and more on the players from killers. However, consider the following that's happened time and time again...anything that seems to make it unfun for survivors devs will nerf. The only thing I see this doing honestly is making the nerf to mori happen a heck of a lot quicker (I'm fine with a mori nerf so long as they nerf keys....) Literally highwaying the nerf to it due to you being angry and wanting to "Make a statement".

    2 things I ask..

    1) Can someone link me or tell me the OFFICIAL changes to Ruin?

    2) Is losing ruins overall strength really as bad as people say it is? Because i made a anger topic a while back about hex ruin being found so quickly. Sometimes within 30 seconds of a match starting, making the perk 100% useless....and honestly, as long as I've gotten 1 hook while ruins up, i can care less if i lose it after because it's at least gotten me that. Sometimes I still get 3 gens popped before i can even catch my first survivor WITH ruin still up. So is it really as useful as everyone says it is? Because i had a lot of people literally throwing it at me that it's a RNG perk and not to be relied on, but the second devs seem to want to change it, everyone here starts rioting and defending it like it was the only perk stopping you from losing. Ruin, imo, was one of those perks that could either be stupid powerful, or stupid weak. If you have bad survivors who can't hit the skill checks, ruin was strong, but as you get up there in ranks 1-8, it's a hell of a lot less effective than it could be. Most don't even bother looking for it. It's just a minor inconvenience. So that being said, is it mainly the new killers that are outraged about it? The setup killers who kinda use it to setup for the beginning of a match? What is it. I really wanna know because i'm getting mixed signals from them people back then telling me not to rely on it and to get good.

Me personally? I'm going to start integrating some of the other perks into my build. So here's my new build idea for the game (Main Pig, Clown, and recently huntress.) PGTW, Overcharge, NoED, BBQ. This seem pretty solid?

Also, because i feel bad for all the survivors seeing killers being dummy toxic towards you, here's a new idea, for all the people who want to be toxic and start bringing mori every game to try and make a point, survivors that see mori just make the game a battle of attrition. You see a mori, just hide for the entire game and see how long you can survive. Literally, only touch a gen to throw off their minds to think you're in the area :P Either the killer will get angry or leave, or eventually find you and kill you. (I think i might wanna add this is somewhat a joke because people will probably try to call out my next point as hypocrisy if i don't)

They wanna make it unfun for you? You make it unfun for them. I get people are angry at ruin change, but seriously, spouting out toxicity to people that have nothing to do with the changes to make your statement, robbing people of their fun just because you're angry is not the way to go. Or do go ahead, you will literally see mori's get nerfed then we'll see 80 threads of "Bye BHVR" if it isn't happening already.

It’s just this forum. Lots of preteen asshats who think raging over a game is cool. Like you’re a badass sitting behind a computer screen or console lol. I don’t take any changes seriously and as things change, I adapt. I mean, it’s a game at end of day.

  • Really? I never sweat tool boxes. They aren’t that big of a deal and honestly if that’s all it takes for you to lobby dodge, killer may not be for you.

  • @VincentRedfield said:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/345/S0Y70OD1LESK.jpg

The real reason killers mains despise SWF or adrenaline or toolboxes so much is that they loathe the game being balanced around 2 kills and 2 escapes per game. (Ideally.)

They ignore that just as 3-4 escapes per game balance would screw over killer players and be messed up, balancing for 3-4 kills per game would screw over survivor players and be messed up.

Survivor players aren't bots here for your pleasure. Maybe the ruin rework will sway the stats too much towards escapes and need to go who knows. But yes, the game needs to be balanced so survivor players have a decent 50/50 shot at escaping as well. #survivorsarepeopletoo

This is true. As killer I love getting a 4K and it’s always my goal. I think other killers are the same.

  • Ruin was too relied on. People will have to adapt now and try new strats. I relied on ruin but hated it as survivor.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

Time for some self awareness, what would your biggest flaw as a player be in this game

For me as a killer: my accuracy of my attacks, i tend to be way to eager with my swings and miss hits i really shouldn't be missing

As a survivor: my poor reaction speed. Pallets that are normally safe often are unsafe for me cause i have the reaction speed of a dead cat

As killer if a survivor runs at me or dodges I miss quite a bit. It’s pretty annoying. As survivor I’m not the best looper but getting better over time.

  • It’s a competitive game that’s unbalanced which causes anger and frustration. Frustrated angry people lash out and behave toxic, which is what you see today.

Unbreakable? Because someone being slugged might still be map pressure, but it's also not a hook. Because it's literally a strong perk that isn't less strong because you can slug someone who might have it, when even if they don't have it you're effectively giving someone a 5th perk? Because it allows a survivor to be completely immune for 60 seconds? Because it's easily used in situations that aren't tunneling at all? Because you have to mentally remember who or who doesn't not have it?

Yes but it’s funny so I can’t resist. They were so excited about their ds, but nope. Not happening. Keep in mind I don’t care much about ranking up and like to mess around (as Killer). As survivor I play to win more.

  • @Endstille said:

Good for you, time management is not needed as killer.

I’m not too worried but I avoid red ranks too. Too many try hards to be fun. Survivor I do red but I won’t as killer. No upside.

  • @FakeHater said:

@ppo8820 Its because killers dont like play against the same perk of survivor ant don get any kill, so why dont blame the perk ?

I dunno. I think it’s safe to assume they’ve got it and wait the minute out. Plus side some idiot will come to heal them and you can knock them down too. Two birds.

  • @aerafield said:

With the upcoming Ruin changes it's completely overdue that Decisive Strike will no longer be this annoying crutch that it is right now. I know it's supposed to be an "anti tunneling perk" and I dont mind if I get hit by hit because I immediately chased the unhooked person... but what I do mind hard is if I get hit by it because a survivor did some cocky stuff right in front of my face like repairing a generator a minute after he got unhooked already.

The changes this perk needs to turn it into a true anti tunnel perk are simple:

    • activation timer from 60 seconds to UNLIMITED
    • DS gets disabled immediately if the unhooked survivor 1) got fully healed, 2) touches a generator, 3) sabotages a hook, 4) cleanses a totem or 5) heals another survivor

This perk is not an anti tunneling perk atm. It's basically a "you are a god for 1 minute now. enjoy." perk

I don’t get why people think this is such a strong perk. I just assume they all have it and leave them slugged for a minute. No more DS.

  • @Apple2o said:

I don't get all the killers who crutch on ruin being in such an outrage. There was only really a handful of killers it was needed on to be competitive, and even those you can 4k at red ranks without it. The best killers had already realize corrupt intervention was better in most cases.

In the meantime, almost every single patch in the past 1-2 years has been slowly but surely gutting survivors. Some of the killers are still incredibly overpowered and easy to play (freddy / hag come to mind), combined with the dedicated servers making no pallet or window truly safe anymore. Go for the pallet stun? Maybe he hits you, maybe he doesn't, who knows what will happen anymore? The new maps have pallets that are designed for good latency. Every unsafe pallet you need to stun the killer to really make use of, and going for stuns on dedicated servers is risky as hell.

All the new maps coming out are just absolute slaughtering grounds. Hawkins comes to mind, but the sanctum of wrath is also terrible. You will get maybe 6-7 pallets to use on the entire map, and an overpowered character like freddy can still just snare-lust you at literally any tile because the next safe pallet is usually still going to be 2 hits away.

I don't get the devs logic. They will prioritize doctor because "He is frustrating to play against" when there's still a ton of completely BS killers who are way more powerful and oppressive to play against. Take legion, if he sees you, you are injured. Sure, a good survivor can loop him for a while, depending on the map. But then you get him on Sanctum of Wrath or Shelter Woods, and drop 2 pallets and from then on that entire side of the map is a dead zone. I don't think he is overpowered, but he sees you, you are injured. That is way more annoying than doctor. "Oh no, the M1 killers know where I am!" is literally his entire kit.

You can be absolutely terrible at killer in this game and still down even the best of survivors eventually these days. Survivors are almost forced to run the same boring 3-4 perks because facecamping is so easy to do for cheap kills.

So personally, I welcome the ruin nerfs. And that is as a killer main, who is sad how easy and skilless the devs have let killer become.

Really? I’m rank 14 killer and rank 5 survivor. I just played 4 games and as a rank 14 killer, I was paired against rank 4-5 survivors. Awesome matchmaking.

Have you played in the ptb yet?

  • Killers use all these anyway. Do what you want, it’s a video game.

  • I know. It’s concerning just how serious people take this game. There is clearly either some mental illness or these posters are 11-14 years old. That’s the only way I can explain it.

I know they’re trying to come off tough but to me it looks like whining and being pathetic. Shrugs.

I literally can’t afford to be nice to survivors after this ruin nerf.

Your perspective if flawed. The more Killers feel persecuted the more ruthlessly they'll exploit every advantage they can get. Once the dust settles I think you'll be enjoying a lot more behavior that Killers refrained from out of courtesy. Tunneling, Slugging, and Ebony Mori on second down will become the new standard. None of that requires more skill. Quite the contrary: It can often be easier.

I honestly don’t care that much. It’s a video game at the end of day. There’s a whole real world out there my friend.

I say play how you want. It won’t matter in the long run. I’m sure killers will up the toxicity but if that’s what you need to do, by all means go ahead.

Sadly every once in a while you still get campers at any level. Maybe they’re having a bad day and are unable to express it like an adult? Maybe they’re just out to ruin the game for others. No one knows for sure. I do know it sucks and I feel your pain. I say ######### on hook and move to next game.

I mean when all is said and done, they’re probs losers in real life anyway. ;)

  • @Izo_Quartz said:

Now killers will have to rely on their own skill to apply map pressure and stall out gens instead of depending on a perk that does their job for them with no required input from the killer, at the cost of a perk slot. And with this change, it's extremely likely that we'll get buffs to low teir m1 killers so that they'll be on the same level as high teir killers who have a lot of mobility. The best part about this is that in red/purple ranks, there will be a lot less bad killers who sweat for the 4k and a lot more killers that are genuinely good at the game, playing for fun.

My only critisisms about the hex: ruin changes is that it's a hex perk and can't be paird with gen-kicking related perks. The changes I would suggest is; it can be paird with gen-kicking related perks and once the hex totem is cleansed, the effect lingers for 90 seconds but regression is reduced to normal speed.

As you can see in this forum. Some Killer players don’t actually want to get good or use skill. They’re used to easy games and will defend it with vigor. No one wants to adapt or grow, just want 4ks. I was getting 4ks by rank 15 killer. As survivor it took until rank 8 where I could outlast a good chase.

  • Have you played the ptb yet? How was it? Tell us everything.

  • They do this on ranks 15-20 mostly. It gets them no points but it’s all they know how to do when new to game. As you play, killers get better and won’t have time to camp. Unless it’s leather face, as those players never grow past the camping stage.

Dead by daylight Dan thinks this change to ruin is no biggy. Dead by daylight Dan has confidence in his ability to overcome everything even the most hardcore survivors can throw at him.

Dead by daylight Dan has quite a big ego and rumor has it he pays off survivors to make him look good.

Who is dead by daylight Dan?

  • The first time I heard ash say this at opening screen I nearly spit my drink out. Wasn’t expecting it. Lol

  • Here’s the deal. No one likes to lose. Losing effects people in multiple ways and they often lash out or send toxic messages. Here’s what I do and it works like a charm. Ready?

I turn my messages off and I play exactly as I want. My objective as killer is to not let others survive. As survivor, it’s to escape. When I play, I don’t follow imaginary rules set by tweens with no life. I do what I want, when I want, and how I want, and you know what? It’s been a blast. Try it.

When things change, I adapt as best I can. I try and not take it too seriously.

  • As a killer player, you can decide how you want to play. If the devs changing ruin has made you decide to camp, tunnel, and try your hardest to ruin the fun of game for other players...who had nothing to do with the changes, then knock yourself out. You can do what you want but it says more about you than anything else. This isn’t directed to poster per se, but to anyone who adapts this strategy as a means of retaliation.

We can disagree. He drives me insane. I tried to like him, but I can’t do it. It’s always complaining. It’s like this forum in a way wrapped into channel.

Also I play both sides and am red/purple ranks each season. I do however love to watch ohm, panda, and space coconut. Tofus cool too.

I have to disagree. He points out the bad on both sides. If you watch him, he plays both sides equally and applies logic to every claim he makes and even goes as far as to spend entire days testing his claims trying to support them. From what I’ve seen, most people who deny him only play one side and usually aren’t even that high ranked
