There are some bad maps for survivors to be fair.

Nothing that hard counters them though. This is essentially like having a map that has no generators that you can access. Absolutely nothing you can do.

If you can't see, you can't stalk, that's simple!

BUT I CAN SEE THEM!!!! And if that's the case, WHY IN THE HOLY MOTHER OF ######### CAN SURVIVORS KNOCK GHOSTFACE OUT THROUGH THE GOD DAMNED CORN?!?!?

  • The gens fly so fast now that proxy camping, tunneling, and slugging is the only chance you've got as killer. Blame for this falls 100% on the devs. All of the killers warned them that this was going to happen after the ruin nerf, but they couldn't see past their own arrogance. I'm warning you now, prepare for a whole lot of slugging and knockout after this sabo change.

  • I got the base game in a humble bundle, so i essentially got it for free. Waited for the steam sale, where I spent $40 unlocking Demo, Freddy, Meyers, Leatherface, Ghostface, Plague, Hag, and Doc. Spent 9K shards on legion, and at least another 12K on teachables. So it can be cheap, you just have to wait for sales.

Okay, so whoever plays Nurse or is a Nurse main knows the pain you have to go through to play her atm.

I do not care nor I'm talking about the nerfs, they were necessary, but holy macaroni Nurse has so many game losing bugs.

The number of times I've lost a hit or even a game through a stupid bug is countless, so I'm gonna name a couple of the bugs I know of, may miss some since I'm writing this out the top of my head.

    1. There's the bug where your 2nd blink starts bugging out and you hear the blinking sound over and over while not being able to use your 2nd blink then going into fatigue and the bug persists for a good amount of time before magically fixing then starting again.

    2. There's the bug where you just can't blink through anything even though you've charged your blink fully, which gets x10 times worse when you're on Haddonfield where literally half of your blinks don't go through.

    3. The bug where you're near the basement and you look up to blink forward but it just takes you to the basement anyway and you just lose the survivor for no reason.

    4. There's the bug that you get slowed the hell down whenever you pick up a survivor or sometimes after hitting a survivor with your 2nd blink and sometimes the first blink, which loses you a lot of distance.

    5. And the most infuriating one for me, when you charge your blink fully and it proceeds to do what Nurse mains call a baby blink (as if you've just tapped RMB) which 9 times out of 10 makes you lose the survivor since you had to charge your blink fully to get to them.

and I'm not even gonna talk about how many times Nurse's auto-aim screwed us over near edges and lost us lunges that were hits (This happens 24/7 on the stranger things' map which has a lot of objects to hit)

And that's about some of the things I remember at the moment, believe me, there are more.

I want to say that this is a topic that concerns killer/Nurse mains so if you're a survivor main who wants to comment "oH bUt ThE nUrSe iS oP" even after the nerfs, don't waste your energy.

    ~Cheers

Ask yourself this on any bug in this game... Does it affect survivor fun? If the answer is yes, it will be fixed within days. If the answer is no, it might be fixed in a year or two.

Playing against better players than you will force you to learn and improve. Trust me I've been there.

Also, not gonna tell you how you should play, but the sooner you drop NOED and learn to stop relying on it for kills, the faster you will get better.

Yes and no. If you've got a green rank killer going against solid rank 1's, killer won't learn anything except how to be destroyed. There's not enough time to learn anything. Plus it doesn't help matters if you never play people outside of red ranks. I got hit with the rank reset bug and knocked a few cocky purple/red players down a rung, because I am used to the top players, but I'm still lucky to get brutal against top teams. So my skill has improved, but it only shows when I play people close to my own rank.

But yes, it is so very sweet to wreck a team that's trying to be toxic to a "yellow rank killer", because I've been forged by the best in the game.

  • Just thought of my favorite killer memory. It was when this matchmaking bug got really bad, I was playing Doctor against a team that absolutely wrecked me. They were healing near the gate and when I came by, they started t-bagging me. Rather than chasing, I started nodding with them, I then turned like I was leaving, moonwalked, spun and lunged, hitting the one being healed...And he was too far from the door to escape, and he was on death hook. It was glorious to make a cocky survivor pay.

When survivors Cleanse at fountains while I'm playing as Plague. My whole build is made around the concept that they "WON'T CLEANSE", and by doing so, they don't necessarily get much benefit, but they also kinda screw over what I'm going for. Freaking survivors man... one moment they are too afraid to give me ranged damage, the next they are too confident in their skills to avoid it. It's so frustrating to build expecting survivors to do one thing, and then have them do something else entirely! Can't survivors just agree... You don't cleanse against Plague (at least until the next update anyways)?

Guessing you use Thanataphobia, Save the best, and Stridor? I look at cleansing like a gift. Allows me to machine gun you down at range. Only thing I hate are the creepy whispers.

what? you like to have more pallets? how does more pallets make the game better? it extends the already ridiculous loops this game has and the insane chases you can get

There's a difference between a safe and unsafe pallet. A map like ormond or the auto haven, or the badham maps have those loops where you can see exactly what the killer is doing. There is no mind game there, you can only loop it until they throw it, then break it. A map like lerys or hawkins on the other hand, they have unsafe pallets.

  • Flashlight saves while looking at a wall and body blocking both send me right off the deep end.

  • Early on playing survivor, I was going against a slugging trapper on Badham. He was playing very sweaty and doing well against us. It was down to the last two, me and a guy on death hook. I got slugged near the boiler room where the hatch spawns, and he got the other guy on the far end of that same building. Naturally I started crawling towards the hatch, and I noticed that he had a trap on the stairs leading down. He hooked the other survivor and started back towards me. I didn't have time to get to the hatch, but he stepped on his own trap, giving me JUST ENOUGH time to make it, clicking M1 like my life depended on it.

By far my favorite memory of this game.

i was LITERALLY just pallet looped in this stage which caused me to write my thread. ive been pallet looped before, but this made me very frustrated.

Being pallet looped like this is the reason wars starts.

It's ridiculous because most of them are safe pallets too, plus the size. It's probably my most hated map as killer, with Badham coming in second.

The only maps i believe should lose some pallets would be blood lodge and The Game like you stated.

Ormond is the biggest pallet problem in the game. I swear I broke 18 pallets and there was STILL a good 10 left.

  • @AntiJelly said:

For a couple of months now, I've seen a lot of different viewpoints on the biggest issue in Dead By Daylight right now.

What I want to know is, in YOUR opinion, the biggest issue in the game, and how might you solve it?

I imagine it'd be interesting to see how many times different problems come up, but more so interesting your solutions to the problems. You could also riff off other people's solutions to improve upon them or whatnot.

I'll start: My biggest issue is map size and unfair map RNG. Obviously, big maps are just an issue because DBD doesn't work with big maps, but some maps can become completely unfair to either side depending on RNG. THe biggest culprit are Autohaven maps, in my opinion. Especially Gas Heaven, that map can be 5 tractor track tiles, or 5 double truck loops. This is just one example. tons of other maps have completely wild RNG.

All you'd have to do to fix this is but more time and effort into the tile weight system. IDK what it is right now, but it clearly doesn't work properly. That, and just make the big maps smaller.

Matchmaking is the biggest problem by far. Red ranks are polluted with survivors that shouldn't be there, so it's a completely random if you get god survivors, or total potatoes. On top of that, with so many red ranks to so few red rank killers, you burn through the killers and it starts going down the list.

My solution is simple. No more depips for survivors, but all 4 survivors are fighting for 2 communal pips. The two survivors that perform the best move up in ranking, while the other two stay put. By the time you reach high purples, everyone is going to be good, and only the best of the best will make it into red ranks. This would keep every survivor level stocked, and would ensure that the potatoes never make it into the red ranks, or even purple ranks.

Rank reset would knock you back down two color levels, but you wouldn't be relying on teammates to pip, you just have to outperform them. If you don't pip, you're in the level that you're supposed to be at.

  • Easy solution. Walk up to the killer, and let him kill you, that or DC and take your mini ban.

  • I use it only because it's the only teachable exhaustion perk I have unlocked and I don't want to spend BPs on survivor.

  • Legion for sure. I've heard how awful he is, but I noticed that I always died when I played vs one. Got him with shards, two games in, both red ranks, 3K merciless, 4K merciless, gens never finished. Has incredible slowdown potential, combined with what I've already learned about pressure makes him very potent in my hands.

  • @Peanits said:

I'm not a fan of this whole us vs. them mindset, but in all fairness, this is the exact same thing that happened to Exhaustion perks. When they were combined together, they were far too powerful, so they were changed such that only one could effectively be used at a time.

Then why does adrenaline, an exhaustion perk, ignore exhaustion?

  • @kate_best_girl said:

I took a 2 week break from DBD and rank reset happens okay whatever thats fine but jesus why are the survivors SOOOOO horrible? It has never been this bad to where ofc I die but im always on the very top of the leaderboards, the killer has to face camp, and my team even after being told i have DS dont even bother trying to save me so ofc I die at end game. Yeah this is more of a rant but its so annoying that I have to constantly die because my team can't counter a NOEDless end game Micheal Myer's while they're on full health. Cant WAIT For this MMR system to go live because holy crap idk what happened but these are legit grey ranked skill players im being teamed with.

It got me too, both as killer and survivor. Went from 5-13 survivor and 7-13 as killer. Killer isn't much problem since I mostly play that, but survivor side, holy crap. My favorites are the ones that run to the corner of the map after unhook, even though the killer is nowhere to be seen. JUST LET ME HEAL YOU!!!

No, I mean Deathslinger is just a worse version of huntress. Both are 110% that can attack from range, but huntress can down you from range, where deathslinger has to waste time reeling you in, and if you get off the hook, you only get deep wounds.

Definitely Spirit. She is a strong killer, and she has above average perks.

Haunted Ground is especially good since survivors are totem hunting for NOED now. Spirit Fury has amazing synergy with Enduring for M1 killers. Rancor is kinda eh, but if you use Nemisis with it, you can end up mori'ing multiple survivors.

If you can buy Spirit and spend 1M BP on her, definitely go for it.

Already got her. The only killers I'm missing are Clown, Oni, and Pig.

    @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

Got pop and bamboozle on the shrine, so Clown will be the last killer I get. Yeah, all of the comments helped. It mostly came down to my playstyle and perks. Oni only had one perk that I might use occasionally, but I want mad grit with the sabo changes upcoming.

  • Went with legion. He seemed to fit my style of gaming better than oni. Burned the million points and of course got Cruel Limits, insidious, and mindbreaker 10 times each, but no BBQ or Corrupt. First game with him vs rank 4-6 got 3K merciless and 27K points on rotten fields. He's not near as under powered as people claim. Could stand to have slightly less stun on exiting power, but I like him/her/them.

  • They don't have the player base for this, and they definitely don't have the killers for this. Don't worry though, we're getting hidden rank MMR, so you won't know when they're screwing you.

    @Spooky13 said:

Clown: God no, you've got his good perks, don't torture yourself with Clown.

Legion: Coming from a Legion, they're alright. Fun? Sometimes. Weak? Constantly.

Oni: Out of these options, Oni is by far the most viable. He's also pretty fun to play as too. Who doesn't want to be a giant undead demon samurai? The only thing that sucks is that his perks are lackluster. Blood Echo is alright and Nemesis is good in niche builds, but Zanshin Tactics is useless.

Deathslinger: As a console peasant, I'm in no way qualified to judge this, but he looks really fun and arguably had the best perks out of these 4.

Personally, I'd disregard Legion and Clown, and put it between Oni and Deathslinger.

Blood echo is useless for me. I'm colorblind so added blood stains might as well be invisible. I'm PC, so aiming with deathslinger won't be an issue.

  • @FogLurker said:

The perks on Deathslinger can probably be used more or have more synergy with other perks compared to Mad Grit and Iron Maiden.

Legion has a lot of cosmetics but it's looking like you are avoiding spending IRL money. On that note, Deathslinger seems fun to use, not saying he'll be good, just fun to use.

Wont give BHVR a dime until they fix their balance issues. I play even the awful killers if they're fun, I really enjoy leatherface.

  • I find that the survivor mains have ridiculous expectations of "fair". Anything that threatens their ability to bully the killer at will needs to go, and if the killer gets upset about this, they need to git gud and stop relying on crutch perks. Of course, DS, BT, DH, and Unbreakable are totally fair and totally not crutch perks.

Killer mains on the other hand want the time to win 24 chases (4 survivors hit twice perk hook state) on gigantic maps with a ton of pallets, and they want to be able to make more than one mistake without losing the whole game.

Are you joking? Tell me you're joking. Survivor nerfs?!?! Survivors are getting a nerf to toolboxes, which barely even qualifies as a nerf. In exchange, you're getting sabo where every hook in the game is already at 99%.

The last several killer nerfs have been game changing and survivors got the benefit, so don't gripe about an easily dodged ultra rare add on.

  • @Rey_512 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1122958#Comment_1122958

Toolboxes were gutted, don’t kid yourself. I don’t see how “keeping the item” is a big deal. You could use 99% of the item’s charges before in order to keep it.

Facecamp Bubba is a cancer to this game and needs some kind of counterplay other than leaving your teammate to die.

Don't know the exact numbers yet, but it looks like it's knocking about 20 seconds off from a gen. So while it's a nerf, it's not much of one, especially if there's 4 of them. Borrowed time and DS is the counter to facecamp bubba. Bait him to one side, he hits the hooked survivor, you unhook. I've seen it done and I've had it done to me.

  • @Rey_512 said:

    Toolboxes are getting nerfed.

Facecamping Bubba isn’t, but needs to be. His power needs a cooldown so he can’t rev the chainsaw forever. AT LEAST make it like Billy’s so he has to put a little effort into keeping it ready.

Those toolboxes are barely a nerf, it's pretty much just a brand new part and you get to keep the box after using it up. Oh and the OP sabo changes are also coming. What did killer get? A worse huntress and breakable walls on a single map.

Me: Talks about how I’ve learned to be a better killer by playing good survivors.

You: Says I have an entitled survivor mentality.

Have you ever played FPS games? You can suck at Call of Duty because your aim is trash BUT still have fun. Why is DBD any different? It’s an asymmetrical game so it’s obviously harder to balance, but it’s ultimately a casual game. Either have fun with it/learn to play better or quit.

"What does it matter if you get a fair match once every hour?" "No one wants to sit in a lobby for 15-20 minutes" "Killers should learn to get better/enjoy the current state"

That doesn't sound like getting better as killer. That sounds like "I don't want to wait 15-20 minutes for a game, so who cares if you get a fair match. Just git gud"

And for the record, if you're a casual killer, you don't get yellow or green survivors, you get bottom purple and reds EVERY SINGLE GAME.

I play to win, and if you have no chance due to broken matchmaking/broken game design, I will never have fun. Unfortunately, this is the only game of it's kind, so I don't have any other options.

  • @Rey_512 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1122584#Comment_1122584

I do think ping and wait time SHOULD take priority over fairness. What does it matter if you get a “fair match” once every hour? No one wants to sit in a lobby for 15-20+ minutes, more if the killer is a brat and dodges.

Killers should learn to get better/enjoy the current state or pick up a different game altogether. I’m not saying changes aren’t needed here and there, but if you don’t have fun playing as killer why stay in DBD at all?

I didn’t quit playing when I picked up DBD - I knew there was a learning curve and I overcame it. If you’re just a casual killer player then I’m positive you will get matched with green/yellow rank potatoes and an occasional SWF that has some red rank players. So what? Just play through it and learn from your experiences.

That is such an entitled survivor mentality. You're literally saying that you don't care if killer has a fair and fun match, only that you get an easy game and don't have to wait. How about we move killer base speed to 5.0ms, make NOED/old ruin non hex and basekit, and revert the nurse/spirit changes? I mean, who cares if survivors get a fair match right? Just get better and enjoy getting stomped every single game. Play through it and learn from your mistakes.

  • @DelsKibara said:

I think the reason killer just feels more stressful ignoring every factor in this game is because you are all alone. Killing everyone.

The survivors can run like rats and it would still feel stressful because you need to keep track of all 4 survivors at all times and sometimes predict where they might be alongside doing your objectives.

With Survivor, you have 3 other people to take the load off of you. Which makes it much more relaxing just because you have teammates.

That's not the reason killer is stressful. Killer is stressful because if you make one mistake, or if one thing goes wrong for you with RNG, you lose.

  • @feechima said:

They do have a built-in speedboost 'perk', its called bloodlust. Now if you want to take away bloodlust to create a perk that gives you speed, that's another discussion. Killers like Oni, Spirit, Billy, and Nurse need not apply.

Bloodlust is an absolute joke because you lose it upon pallet stun or pallet break. If there wasn't a pallet every 15 feet, it would be fine.

  • As killer, I HATE HATE HATE the Badham maps. They're chock full of pallets and have 2-3 stupidly strong loops. As survivor, I hate The Game...so much. As both, I hate the yamoka's maps.

  • They basically explained that matchmaking prioritizes ping and wait time, with fairness being the final priority. With a lack of high rank killers and the changes to SWF matchmaking, you get killers playing people they shouldn't.

  • @ProfessorDunwich said:

Let me sum it up, as someone who plays both sides. As Killer, gens fly and you have to play dirty to stand a chance. Slugging, tunneling, camping. As Survivor, you have the deal with these tactics after waiting in long queues. Both roles have taken a major hit in enjoyment level and this got a lot worse after the Ruin nerf. We are at a crossroads. Are the devs going to fix the game or keep taking it down the same path?

The problem is that killer is overpowered in green/yellow ranks, and under powered in red/purple ranks. I got booted from rank 5 survivor back to rank 13, and killers basically do nothing but 4K. Survivors run aimlessly to the corners after unhook instead of getting healed, they don't do gens, they don't 99% doors, and they don't loop optimally. I've gotten killed a few times now because my team doesn't have a clue.

On the killer side, when you're dealing with rank 1's on a bad map, you're uber boned. Brutal is about the only chance you've got. It's like gen speeds need to be 60 seconds at green and 100 seconds at purple.

  • Bout as fair as a 4 man SWF running meta perks with commodious toolboxes, and an Ormond/Haddonfield/Badham/Crotus Penn offering. It's not the norm, take your loss like a man and move on.

Why does anyone care that i leave early? The team worked together because it's the best chance for survival. So when my survival is guarentee why shouldn't I take it?

People think this is a team game, it's not. If you're not at the gate, or very near to me on hook, I will dip. Not about to trade hook states with you because I don't run second chance perks.

  • He made a major mistake in the fact that Nancy was literally right in his view at 3:33 in the video, but he was paying attention to chat. • @Zamblot said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1119642#Comment_1119642

Ha, it gets used up if you use it once. You don't have 2 DSes. It's really not ever going to be 8 minutes in any conceivable possible match. Besides, going by your logic how does it matter? A killer can technically kill all survivors in 1 minute, does it mean that that's normal, not at all?

Doesn't change the fact that each survivor has 2 minutes of safe time if you play DS properly. Sure you can eat it, for a 5 second stun, which adds up to 20 seconds if there are 4, then at least another minute to catch back up and down them again. And again, this type of stuff wouldn't be an issue if the gen times weren't so ridiculous.

  • Kindred/self care and Pop goes the weasel.

  • If you read my posts, it's pretty clear that I am in favor of more killer buffs, but even I don't have a problem with unbreakable, and here's why. Slugging is fine when used as intended, one or two gens left and most survivors on death hook, but I've seen killers that love to abuse slugging from the get go. They want a 4K 5 gen Brutal killer game that's over in 5 minutes, which is just as bad as the gen rushers.

  • @Zamblot said:

DS lasts 60 seconds (1 minute).

A maximum of 4 survivors can have it.

    How is that 8 minutes?

And it normally isn't an issue if you don't tunnel. Dead hards also easy to counter and most of the time it doesn't even work for survivors because the game is bugged as hell

Available for two hook states, which makes it 8 minutes total.

  • Killer for sure.
