The game was fun before the meta became so firmly entrenched that every single round had to be as sweaty as possible.
-
Survivors are so bored they're playing Killer and Killers are so bored they're quitting. What a world. 😓

OP's talking about Solo Q and you instantly bring up 4-man sweat squads and "us vs them"-mentality. Really? At least try to stick to the thread.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/303309/man-solo-survivor-is-rough
Yes, Solo is rough. You can't count on your teammates. They bring killers to you while you are on a gen, they farm you, they leave you. As a solo survivor you absolutely have to watch out for yourself. BT and DS is almost a must atm. 1 survivor F'ing up the symmetry is enough to throw the game vs a decent killer who knows how to apply pressure.
Last night is a perfect solo story. We where doing great, I ran the killer for 2 gens, then had a flashlight save. Then a few trades, 3rd gen popped. I was about to finnish the 4th gen when this survivor running Bond ran straight to me, bringing the killer with Pop to the gen who was 95% finnished. I got downed right after (I was already injured), the "teammate" tapped the gen and saved me right in the killers face without BT. I go down instantly and the killer gets another pop on the gen. And then repeat - dead. In a matter of like 45 seconds this ONE survivor throws the game away. Ended shortly after in a 4K and 1 gen remaining.
Not saying this is terrible game at all, it can be much worse - but it truly paints a picture of what the solo q experience is like haha.
I am sticking to the thread and you'd know that if you bothered to think about what I posted. In the time it takes a Killer to gauge whether they're playing against SWFs or Solos they will have already begun to fall behind. There is no room to be considerate of Survivors that aren't in sweat squads. You realize halfway through the game that you've stonewalled a disjointed group of loners and one or more of them are probably already dead on a hook.

I've already seen people hypothesize that what if there's a transgender survivor in the future, and then Leatherface's other outfits become used for harrasment purposes. That sounds like a stretch, just to exaggerate Bubba losing his items, but you never know what will happen down the line.
I warned about this in 2020:

I actually have. Here's the results:
- hit the unhooked survivor ASAP, give them a 16 second time sink to deal with while you chase the other.
- If they dont run away, or mend because they have DS, slug em, give them a 30+second time sink to deal with(or eat the DS if its early in the game, its not that hard).
- Fake the pick up. You can do so by standing still and looking down quickly. If there are people they will certainly try to get into position, at which point you try to keep them injured meaning they need to be a further distance away to remain somewhat safe(and silent), giving you a bigger angle for a safe pickup. This makes it so that 1 person cannot succesfully flashlight you without another teammate, which means you're keeping 3 people off gens and injured while the slug timer slowly runs out untill the right oppertunity comes.
You have the vanilla tools at your disposal, use them.
If those survivors have that much coordination they only need one person to pop gens in the amount of time I have to expend using those tools. I'm not putting in maximum effort for 1-2 kills at most. I'll play a different game where high skill plus maximum effort results in a win.

Except that 4x DS and BT dont really affect your fun as a killer unless you're tunneling. There are some exceptions, but those arent the rule. It's like saying seeing Pop and Ruin too often is affecting the fun, when in reality, its the exceptions where those perks are unfun to face.
Yeah let me know when you have to deal with a 4 man squad optimally cycling BT and DS per survivor, flashlighting you every time you pick someone up (good luck avoiding it if they intentionally go down somewhere you can't stare at a wall), and chain bodyblocking hooks. Then tell me how much fun you're having. Tip: You're not going to be having fun.
-
It's really a sad state of affairs. Even content creators that have loved and enjoyed this game for years are abandoning ship.

Mhmmm, I didn't ask them to be polite.
I'm asking them to not set out to ruin other people's experience, which for the record, is exactly what I ask of Survivors too
Like I said earlier: It's too late for that. BHVR has allowed a meta of toxicity to flourish, first among Survivors and now among Killers. There is no benefit in facilitating a fun experience. They're too busy defending twitter users from bigotry.

That doesn't make either right.
I've been hit on hook before the first gen has been done a ton.
Every Bubba I've played against facecamps.
I don't anyone on either side is having fun atm.
You're a few years too late to ask Killers to be polite or think about the amount of fun you're having as a survivor tbh. Every single one of us left has been disrespected, degraded, or otherwise pissed off MANY times. The 4 man SWF all running DS and Borrowed Time doesn't care about whether the killer is having fun. Naturally killers stop caring if Survivors have fun too.
-
I've played enough games against metaperk squadrons to have lost my ability to feel sympathy. Killers have absolutely no reason to build up slowly, gauge the survivor team's competence level, or let off the gas from the start of the match. It's either all or nothing.

End Game Collapse - exists. DS - destroyed. Medkits, syringes, styptics - nerfed. Toolboxes and add ons- nerfed. Object of Obsession - Destroyed. Small Game - nerfed. Freddy - buffed. Bubba - buffed. Wraith - buffed. Trapper - buffed. Trickster - buffed. Ruin - huge buff against solo queue.
Poor killer mains. All this game does is give free wins to survivors.
It takes a real fool to think DS was destroyed when it gives survivors the mentality to do the one thing they should NEVER, EVER be encouraged to do: Approach the Killer on purpose. You have a whole arsenal of metagame at your disposal as any survivor at any time and convince yourself you don't. Even the net code is set to favor you now and it's still not good enough.
-
Why am I punished when some sweaty nerd DCs before their third hook because their metaperks didn't save them? What goes around comes around.
-
I've been stunned by a pallet while standing outside of the pallet at least once today, so I don't buy this crap about "it's just the killer's latency."
-
Should the survivors really have pallets? They already juke.
Should the survivors really have flashlights? They already vault windows.
Should the survivors have perks? They already hide.
🤣

@Power_Guy said:
I don't get this whole 'It's bad if Killers can 1v1' or whatever mentality.
A Killer has to deal with 4 Survivors. This means, as he eliminates them (or if he gets them 1v1 during a match) he SHOULD be the power role. That's how balance works.
If A Killer was literally only strong enough to deal with 1 Survivor, then 4 Survivors working together would trounce him.
Didn't you get the memo? Survivor players think they should be able to tie up the killer for the entire match and never die while their three teammates open the exit for them. It's been like this for years and BHVR has catered to it in many ways.
-
I'll tell you what you're doing wrong: Expecting this game to be fair in any way. Once you hit green ranks more than half of your matches will be SWFs and/or metaperk squads all running Borrowed Time, Decisive Strike, and whatever else they feel like throwing on their busted Survivor builds. High rank play is so severely skewed in favor of survivor that the most fun way to play this game as Killer is to play three rounds and quit for a month.
Moris? Nerfed. Hex: Ruin? Castrated. Pallets? Buffed. Widely and heavily abused Survivor perks? Practically untouched. Thinking about leveling a Killer once you've hit green ranks? Don't bother.
-
B-tier killer gets hit with an awareness nerf to a situational ability. Meanwhile, Survivors meta perk arsenal remains untouched. What a surprise.
-
No, the honor of worst map ever goes to Haddonfield.

Might be a bug, but I think it's more likely just an illusion. PH has a lot of little quirks in his model and animations. Parts of him remain slack while others are tensed and, when viewed from any other angle, his silhouette changes. They did a good job capturing his very ponderous uncanny valley movement even with his fairly fast movement speed.

If you don't want caged don't walk in the barbed wire. Yeah that's right, stop on top of it and let yourself get hit. If you're wounded he has to hook you. If you're not wounded use your speed boost to get away from him in the direction you came. Lucky you: You know where all the pallets you just passed are. Because nothing bad happened yet. as of now with everything we know about BHVR and their lore entries etc, they will just mention it like the Hetero relations before. Maybe they will add one char whose lore revolves around LGBT (but we had concerning lore before and it wouldn’t be that bad since there are actually people like this out there; I personally wouldn’t like that though) but those are just assumptions.
there is no need to make worst case scenario assumptions. If those will happen, let the outrage begin!
Alright, look, maybe I'm just pessimistic or something but I'd like to try and communicate to you the long term effects of things like certain characters being LGBT or cosmetics. Quick tag on @Orion too because it's directly relevant to our discussion and I'm going to catch some sleep after I make this post.
Imagine for a moment that there is a designated LGBT character or cosmetics relating to LGBT. Naturally, there will be people who target these survivors and cosmetics intentionally either for a laugh or out of actual hatred. The distinction between these two groups will be practically unidentifiable. What happens then? A fiasco, that's what. There's more than enough victim complexes around here to go around even without this stuff added into the mix. Now add in some political correctness culture to create a proverbial grease fire.
Is that a worst case scenario that will never come to pass? Honestly, I hope so.

Who said they wanted everyone to pay attention to this? Point them out, please. All I saw was one tweet from the devs and that was it.
Yes, I know why there's pushback, it's because one group (not LGBT) is making a big deal out of this and pretending another group (LGBT) is the one making a big deal out of it. The majority of the threads bringing up the subject are from people who "don't care" about or even actively dislike the idea, not from people who do like it.
Dude, you just talked about how "raising awareness" is so important on the same page as the post I'm quoting. You don't get to go back and pretend you don't want people to pay attention. Come on now.

They just made a small tweet. No video, no Q&A section devoted for it, nothing. No mention in the anniversary.
Yeah, that's true, but that doesn't really help ease the tension of the announcement because there's no certainty as to what's being done. It was vague and has just as great a chance to be a meaningless gesture as it does of being an invasive immersion killing disaster. Of course there are people that are going to be extremely concerned. How could they not be?

You've yet to acknowledge that people didn't have a problem with the lore mentioning sexual orientations until it was about LGBT, which is why it looks like an anti-LGBT thing. Please do (or address the argument in some other way) so we can move on.
You use the words "didn't have a problem." The truth is that they didn't care. They didn't pay any attention because they don't want to. So, LGBT comes in and not only cares but wants everyone to pay attention for "awareness." Are you starting to understand why there's pushback yet? People don't want preached to through a videogame any more than they want an ad to interrupt them while playing.

I am taking a bold step and say: that twitter comment was only made to give some people a good chuckle.
of course there were demands. Also extreme demands (there are extreme LGBT activists after all). But there were also demands for everything else. And more so for something else. Most comments were actually just positive without any demands
BHVR decided (not capitulated) their next step, they gave their reasoning for it and were totally rational about it. They were not more pressured into doing it than into explicitly excluding it. At the end they decided it on their own, knowing that they will please many and knowing they will also displease many.
I sure hope you're right about that twitter comment, since the only other possibility is an intention of direct antagonism that's not good for anyone. Regardless, you're definitely right about them knowing they'd please many and displease many. Good thing they chose to please the people that would tattle on them to the social justice brigade and displease the people that will just suck it up and deal with it or move on. I just really don't see how everyone is 100% okay with how all this operates and where it leads. It's pure "ends justify the means" mindset at work and it has long consequences.

It's because the silent majority tacitly approves of the vocal minority's treatment of the LGBT community, like the torture camps children are sent to by their parents due to being LGBT. Raising awareness for these issues is important.
Nice deflection of the fact that people didn't have a problem with this until it involved LGBT, though.
Okay, and where's the nearest one of those torture camps as compared to you? Or compared to BHVR's offices, for that matter? How about all the torture camps for people declared undesirables and dissidents in the Xinjiang annex region of mainland China? Do you champion their cause on the internet too? If you did, would you do it on a videogame forum? You're not a hero, don't act like one.
P.S. Arguing with someone by assuming their logic isn't a "deflection." In fact it's the total opposite so, y'know, maybe get some perspective.

I scrolled through those comments. There were not many demands for more (actually the only demands were like add shirtless x etc). I have seen more hateful comments towards LGBT, by far!
but you decide to mention one post that doesn’t even fit your narrative.
Yeah I mentioned it because it stood out and gave me a good chuckle, ironic as it is. Don't pretend like there weren't demands, the statement on the 12th directly references the "you referenced sexual orientation before" argument. Also take that last post I made with a grain of salt I'm getting a bit on the sleep deprived side and I'm pretty sure I heavily misinterpreted what you saying and didn't notice until after I posted. Oh really? How's that? Do you think I actually give a damn if a character in this game is gay or lesbian or whatever? If so you're even more disappointing as a dialogue partner than I thought. Keep jumping at shadows of bigotry. Bigots don't engage on forums like these, and they sure as hell don't try to reason with their opponent. Get a clue.

But what if BHVR genuinely wants to include LGBT+ themes in the lore? They are ever expanding on lore and go deeper in their backstories, especially since the introduction of the tomes. They now saw - fitting opportunity during pride month (yeah they ARE a business company) and announce it with rational reasonings. (This is all my theory btw does not have to be true)
Why would they not be allowed to do that? Because other companies were threatened by extreme LGBT+ activists?
the thing is: we don’t know what the real reasoning for BHVR was. We can only either assume something (what you are doing and I am in this post) or we have to take the only real evidence: their tweet.
of course you might be right and the outrage witnessed with other companies before could be the reason. But there could also be someone with a gun pointing at Cote that demands this. These cases wouldn’t be the right reasoning to include it. BUT including LGBT+ themes on its own is not something bad but something good. There is nothing harmful in it.
Don't give me that line. I know exactly what prompted this. June 3rd DbD devs released LGBT acceptance emotes and were met with demands for more. "Not good enough" the community says. So to the drawing board, where they have to figure out exactly what compromises they have to make to avoid being publicly defamed by internet reactionaries. June 12th you get a public capitulation. I think my favorite part of scrolling down in to the replies to that tweet is a smug image titled "The heteros are upseteros." Real inclusive, that one.
So, like I said earlier to someone else, this is a circus. Another instance of twitter activists running roughshod over a media production studio. One more on the pile. One more failure to co-exist, as if we needed more.

When the "average person" (not true, the majority of people are either supportive of or indifferent to all sexual orientations) only speaks out against non-heterosexual orientations, that's what it sounds like. There was no outrage about any sexual orientations from anyone until the devs mentioned LGBT. That's the only difference, that the devs mentioned LGBT. So you may pretend this has nothing to do with LGBT, but the fact is nobody gave a ######### until it was about LGBT. Everyone knows and can see what you're trying to do.
"Majority of people are either supportive of or indifferent to all sexual orientations" eh? If that's true why do you feel so victimized and unincluded? 🤔 Could it be that, just maybe, there are people that go out of their way to make themselves victims? People that, when pushing for change, immediately declare themselves victimized the moment anyone resists that change? You say everyone knows and can see what I'm trying to do. That's equally true for you. This isn't about tolerance or inclusion because people are both tolerant and inclusive. It's about ego, it's about being publicly recognized or else.
-
@Mooks said:
I am not telling you that you are wrong. I never stated the opposite though.
about the outrage: I was merely talking about BHVR and DbD, because that is the topic at hand.
you know what: Frank and Julie being super into each other didn’t have anything to do with continuing the species. That wasn’t the reason they mentioned this. Actually, if it were Frank and Joey, there should not have been any difference at all.
the mentioning of non heterosexual relationships should just be not an issue at all. Does not hurt anyone and is actually part of many cultures and individuals.
I get that you're talking about BHVR, trust me. My point is that it happens and every marketing and public relations department in the world knows it happens. You know who wants to hold that hot potato? Nobody. So guess who folds? Everybody. The specter of that hangs over us, and as much as everyone likes to think it's all very innocent it's not. The average person doesn't pay attention to or care about Frank and Julie, especially since they're never even on screen together. The average person doesn't want to pay attention to any of this sexual orientation crap. But if they voice that they are quickly declared bigots or trolls.

You are getting awfully personal quickly...
the mistake was they stated they don’t want to include any sexual orientation (which would have been totally fine) but they contradicted themselves and several heterosexual relationships.
also: you see „yet another company held hostage by outrage culture“ only because you want to see it. There was no outrage.
Oh, is that so? No outrage culture huh? Well that's funny because about a year ago, there was a coordinated effort to exert influence over CD Projekt Red in the exact same manner. They didn't start kissing ass fast enough so there were thousands of twitter posts and news articles about the developers alleged transphobia, then another few months of the developer trying to mitigate the damage. But hey I'm sure that never happened right? Out of sight out of mind? All forgotten right? Wrong.
You know what? I'm not afraid to say this: Characters having heterosexual relationships is pretty much not even inclusive of anything. Human beings breed, they have kids, they continue the species. Do I have to add a little asterisk next to that statement to be inclusive of the ones that don't? Do I need an entire separate paragraph to make the ones that don't have such relationships feel extra super special about themselves? I guess these days everybody does.
Oh and, by the way, I do hope you realize that homosexuals and bisexuals have gotten married and had children. It happens all the time, and it happened even more often in the days they had to hide their sexual orientation. Fact of the matter is, being married and having kids can be 100% mutually exclusive to sexual orientation. I dare you to tell me I'm wrong.
-
@Mooks said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1355194#Comment_1355194
then what is the problem?
clearly someone who is not saying anything „anti-LGBT“ wouldn’t have anything against inclusion of LGBT themes in a game where there are already heterosexual relationships mentioned.
BHVR states they are doing this now because the community made them realize and reflect their behavior regarding sexual orientation. No threats involved, just a company realizing their mistakes and saying they will act accordingly.
Yeah I'm sure you think you get to define everyone's thoughts for them. People involved in these conversations always do. You see "a company realizing their mistakes and saying they will act accordingly." I see yet another company held hostage by outrage culture. Isn't the first, won't be the last. But please, do make sure everyone pats themselves on the back for righting such a terrible wrong...in a computer game played exclusively by people privileged enough to think a lack of "inclusivity" is a "mistake."

Considering the fact that the discussion was created BY OP, that implies that no quote automatically means anything written is in reply to the original topic that was posted by OP. Do you think people just join random discussions and make an entirely new topic with no correlation to what the OP said? This must be your first time in a forum.
And considering that you answered my obviously rhetorical question with a snide comment "genuinely", I can (and will) call you out for it because all you've been doing is monitoring this discussion to argue with other people instead of answering OP's question.
You can't salvage it now my dude, so don't try. A lack of quote implies nothing of the sort and it's actually pretty funny that you're even trying to say that it does. It's even more funny that, for someone that accuses me of wanting to argue over nothing, you are arguing right now at this very moment about something that's not even close to on-topic. Oh no, please, don't call me out in the process of having a tantrum because you feel like my answer didn't kiss your ass enough. 🤣

Well first of all you posed a question with no quote, so I would interpret that as a free invitation answer it. So I did. But then you decided to get all butthurt about someone replying to you. Apparently I was supposed to be telepathic and figure out that your post, though having no discerning features that involve a direct reply to a singular individual, was in fact only directed toward one person and nobody else should even dare to acquire your attention for the few moments it takes to read some text.
Seems like you're the one that wants to argue over nothing. Indeed, you argue over someone trying to answer your question genuinely. So to you I say this: Deal with it, nerd.

Deal with it, because if you don't value what I say I don't have any reason to care what you think either.

Imagine being so out of touch with reality you consider anyone that challenges you a nonsensical over the top caricature instead of an actual person. Must be a sad way to live. You posted a tweet and expected people to dig through thousands of comments to find proof for your argument. You're essentially saying "I made the argument, now you go look for proof that I'm right", which is absurd.
Show me the proof. It's that simple.
So you are a forum goblin on a program then? Good thing for me to know. See you think nobody knows your tricks. You really legitimately think nobody notices how you have a pre-selected method of argument with easy responses based on baited statements. I say "existential threat" and describe to you the immediately observable and easily recognized social justice movement as that threat. Instead you constantly and repeatedly misrepresent my argument by demanding proof of direct verbal threats until someone comes running to rescue you from your own pathetic broken argument. Even if I produced a tweet with a direct verbal threat in it you would immediately jump to "THAT'S ONE PERSON AND DOESN'T REPRESENT THE WHOLE!" You're not as quick on the draw as you think you are. You're a sophist without a hint of reason in your rhetorical constructs.
Nobody is fooled by this act anymore. Everybody can see what's happening here. You think you're buying tolerance and inclusivity with this behavior but you're not. All you're doing is culturing an entire group of silent bigots reading these posts that can see exactly what you're doing. The alternative, that you're merely a well programmed tool regurgitating the same talking points you've heard over and over again, is equally damaging to the cause of LGBT people. Beware, cautious avoidance can turn into active hatred very quickly.

You should because you made the argument. "That which is asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence."
I'm asking for proof that people threatened BHVR, which is what you said, so let's not go off-topic.
Funny, it's like you ignored EVERYTHING after the first two sentences of my post because you can't actually form a coherent argument. I pointed at proof BHVR were pressured, lots of it. When pressured you either say "yes" or you receive an unceasing shitstorm of epic proportions. That is called a tacit threat. Now, are you a human being with thoughts capable of understanding complex concepts or are you a forum goblin that only argues according to your program?

Surely you can point to those threats that were made instead of expecting me to read thousands of comments.
If you don't care enough why should I? Scroll through them. Besides, I find it funny that you demand proof that people are threatened by backlash when there's truck loads of empirical evidence for it happening multiple times a year every year. The social justice community has even been satirized by South Park as a bunch of frat boy bully thought police and you still don't get it. That community is the threat. Not LGBT people, not cosmetics in a videogame, but a coordinated group of social engineers punishing anyone and everyone that questions their worldview.
