Why are you spreading false information?
"False information" look at the comments. I've got work today I don't have time to joust with someone that calls me a liar.

I didn't mean that inclusion is more important than saving lives and ending oppression.I do know (actually meant death sentence) and it breaks my heart. But do you know why we have a Pride Paredes even though in some countries the biggest problems are already gone. To be loud and show we are just people who want to live a normal life and spread awareness. Inclusion and representation can normalize LGBT and maybe can change people's perspective on that matter. Maybe it can change those countries two. The parallel is that if we making LGBT normal than LGBT persons don't have as many proplems to face.
Also why is it such a bad thing if there was an gay character in dbd? It doesn't hurt you or does it?
I didn't even know that they were planning to release a gay character until I read in the forum about this. I don't care if they didn't do something like that. I think it's nice.
Please don't assume that i never faced "real" problems. In this case i wouldn't fit your description of "real" problems. Juat the fear of discrimination and non exception.
Please show me evidence that the developers are at risk of a ######### storm. Wait scratch that they already have half of a ######### Strom from doing it from people that can't mind their own business.
Yea this is a circus bc people scream at them why they have to make a gay character without a real reason. This is tracer all over again.
You didn't even know eh? Well that's nice, but this was all prompted by direct demands on twitter toward DbD devs via their community manager. They were pressured into doing this. That's the problem, right there. Not because a character is gay or DbD were feeling particularly warm and fuzzy, but because they were PRESSURED into doing so under tacit threat of backlash. That is not how you win hearts and minds. Quite the opposite, actually, it's how you alienate them.
"This is tracer all over again" oh you mean a totally pointless and meaningless corporate gesture to pacify a demographic of consumers? Good, we're on the same page.

I mean this statement, maybe I misunderstood it because of language barrier. then I apologize. But since you answered to my post directly I assume naturally that I was meant.
Ah, language barrier. Well, let me see if I can clarify: A common tactic in rhetoric is to bait your opponent into talking about something you've prepared ahead of time. One method of this is to use a previous argument as a model, in this case a strawman about "games being political." This method allows one to exert control over the course of an argument. For example, demanding a yes or no answer to an overly simplistic question allows someone to have a prepared response to both possible answers. Control is established over the flow of the dialogue. Internet sophistry is elaborate.

I explicitly defined the concept so it wouldn't be so broad, but you can't even acknowledge that. Amazing.
You know what I love about this conversation? You really just can't take someone shrugging their shoulders as an answer. I've already communicated to you that almost all games are political. My opinion doesn't matter. Games are political all the time. Whether I'm okay with it is utterly irrelevant, so I do not care. Neither yes nor no. I reject the question. Is that really so hard to understand?

Were did I do that though? Or am I misinterpreting that „you“ again and you are not talking to me?
I'd suggest you look into how second person pronouns can be used in a sentence before you go getting yourself all huffy about "you"s.

I explained what I meant by "political" and asked for a yes/no question under that definition. You haven't answered, at all.
Then I guess you're not going to get an answer because to me it's not a yes or no question. The concept is too broad for such simplicity. It's nothing but pure reductionism and I have no respect for reductionism.

So you take a noun out of one sentence so you can get outraged over a description in another? Are you serious? You're trying real hard to offend yourself. 😂

I'm asking for an opinion, JFC. I'm a curious person by nature.
I gave you most of an explanatory answer. I do not respect the premise because the word "political" itself is too variable in meaning to matter. Most games get political in some capacity. It can mean anything from satire to social commentary and so on. Any time a form of government is an actor in a narrative the game is political. It's not specific enough as a descriptor for the argument to have traction.
Now, if you'll indulge me making a few assumptions and maybe devil's advocate I could jury rig some kind of real argument of that fashion. Dead By Daylight itself is essentially apolitical, at least in practice. The Entity is an extradimensional horror, no government holds sway in the trials, and the lore is just fluff. Political concepts in the same space as an apolitical environment can cause a clash of aesthetic or even destruction of immersion if handled poorly.
Like I said, bit of gymnastics stringing that together but maybe that's what they're worried about and can't express it.

It is a common argument made in the past few days on these forums.
i scrolled through this thread and your argument basically is that corporations exploit LGBT+ people for their own gain and don’t care for them. (wat?). You are right. YOU didn’t say politics shouldn’t be in videogames in this thread. But I didn’t say you did, but you made nice assumptions about me. Thanks.
Oh, did you feel included in the group I described? Well I didn't actively include you so, I just kind of assumed you wouldn't feel included. You know? 😉

I expect a yes/no response because it's a yes/no question, the same way I'd expect a complex answer to a complex question. However, this is a simple matter of getting your opinion on a subject, so a simple question about whether you're OK with X, Y, Z is more than enough once X, Y, Z is defined.
Many people on this forum have expressed that they don't like games "getting political". Hell, there's an entire thread about it in the off-topic section. Why is it an insult to your intelligence to ask you for your opinion on the subject?
So go argue with those "many people" instead of trying to press me to argue on their behalf.

Dude, I've been doing nothing except capitulate to you. You said you didn't say anything about games getting political, so I simply asked you for your opinion. Then you said "political" was a nebulous term, so I defined it as I see it. Even still, you can't answer a simple question because no matter what I say, you think it's all part of some plot against you.
Because the question is an insult to my intelligence. Any game with a government in it that does something for some reason is political. Grand Strategy Games are political. Science fiction first person shooters where the player is a soldier in a military? Political. A game where you play as an ecological terrorist saving the planet from an evil corporation? Political. A game where you are an assassin? Political. What exact kind of response to you expect to get? Oh right, a simple one. Well how's this for simple: It's an irrelevant question.

I don't consider LGBT or inclusion on the whole to be a political thing, but rather a thing that certain groups want to make political. "Political" to me means referencing actual politics, like economic systems and systems of government.
With that definition in mind, are you OK with games getting political?
So if you don't consider them political, and I never said anything about politics, who and what are you arguing against exactly? Why even bring it up? I'll tell you why: Because you've working down a list of ways to bait people into saying things that make you look like a victim.

“Videogames should not get political“ is a common argument used against LGBT+ representation in DbD on this forum. You can’t expect anyone to memorize every single argument you or anyone else has made against LGBT+ When they are all far-fetched and basically boil down to „I don’t want gay stuff in my game“.
Oh a common argument huh? You mean a strawman you can burn on a hill in effigy of actual people's arguments? How convenient for people who want to seem enlightened and understanding but instead actually just operate off of a simple system of rhetorical devices and logic fallacies.
-

So are you OK with games getting political? It's a simple question.
And excuse me if I can't tell you all apart half the time when you basically make the same "complaints".
No, it's a loaded question. Get a grip. The word "political" has applications so nebulous that the question is utterly meaningless and has no point. Furthermore, no, I won't excuse you because it's inexcusable. You don't reply to someone by ignoring everything they say and constructing an argument for them to walk into. Shameful.

How's it nice? They're pandering for money and people are falling for it. Gay people don't realise they are being used for bhvrs gain. Doesn't take much intelligence to realise that.
Gay people and lesbians are used for a lot of peoples' gain these days. Many of those I have spoken with know they're being used to push the social justice agenda and that they are patronized as a form of marketing by major corporations that couldn't care any less about them. It's not like they're in any position to do anything about it since it's their "allies" that are doing it. Who can they turn to when they're being exploited by people that claim to support them?

Nothing different than I normally do, usually, unless they're obviously SWF. Though I do enjoy going back and finding our match under the Videos tab of twitch. It helps me identify mistakes I made during the match that I may not have noticed at the time.

Yeah, and your mind was made up too. This has happened before. It will happen again. It is a fact. I already cited Cyberpunk 2077 as a direct example and you still deny it as a "conspiracy theory" right before you regurgitate standard rhetoric for your cause. Your method of argument is a joke.

There’s a mix of people - those who are ignorant and those like you said have been taught. This is why I said minuscule - I’m not naive to believe everyone who plays will be like “oh, this doesn’t change the character at all... go figure”, but you can’t assume it won’t make any difference.
I do know people who’ve had those misconceptions, who were taught to be prejudice... who aren’t now. There are those who realise it’s wrong to hate on someone because of who they love/any other reason.
some people are just bad, but not all. Some people can learn and grow. It’s just difficult remembering that, especially with the current climate.
The climate will get worse as long as the LGBT community and social justice movement keep trying to inject their idealisms into hobbies and interests that have no real place for it. What business do they have hounding a videogame developer for inclusivity exactly? What is inclusivity? Is a single line in a character's backstory enough, or do we need a character running around in a trans acceptance rainbow shirt and neon blue hair? Trick question: It's never enough because the whole process is pure egotism. It might not be that way for you but I guarantee you it's that way for a significant amount of the people supporting you.

Here’s the thing. More games have representation now but not all. The fact you’re gay and don’t think this is an issue is kind of sad.
It’s cool you enjoy playing games and don’t think about sexuality, I’m sure many people don’t. However, when a game let’s you choose whether you’re straight or gay (or anything in between), it’s actually nice, whether you believe it to be pandering or not. The fact is the World has come a long way, and the fact videogames, which is something many of us enjoy to escape, are hearing us and seeing us isn’t a bad thing.
there is still so much wrong the world but even little things like this show progress and how people CAN change. BHVR are displaying this in what they’ve said.
The more representation means in time, less phobia and more understanding... even if it’s minuscule due to representation in a game, it’s still progress.
"Less phobia and more understanding" is wishful thinking. You are under the mistaken impression that people hold prejudice because they are ignorant. Quite the opposite: Prejudice is learned behavior, and people are learning it watching twitter raid streamer chats and insist that anyone who dissents from their talking points is a filthy evil bigot that must be punished.
Nothing about this fixes anything in the world or progresses anything other than your own ego and sense of gratification. Every time this happens the people doing it go on at length about how righteous and better than everyone else they think they are for it. This is privilege, pure and simple. You're privileged enough to live in a culture that not only tolerates LGBT but punishes people who don't. You're privileged enough to have enough time to complain on the internet because you feel like a videogame is leaving you out. You're privileged enough to stand behind the iron bulwark of social justice so everyone is afraid to call you out.
-
Oh no, what's the matter? Your veiled implications that I'm a bigot didn't work out the way you wanted them to? Feeling speechless? Typical.

No, I saw outrage culture is alive and well the instant BHVR said they weren't just going to confirm characters in their game were heterosexual or had had heterosexual relationships. I think the way you're speaking of LGBT as if it's an "ideology" with the ability to exert influence across the globe is a conspiracy theory. It's not the first time I've heard someone speak of a group that has one thing in common in such a way. It's usually about liberals or ethnic or religious groups, though.
Ah, here we are, the part where you conflate social justice warriors with every Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transexual in the world as if I am attacking them all collectively. Nice bait, but you're not trying hard enough. No, the ideology is social crusaders fighting petty causes for "inclusivity" under the delusion that they're fighting injustice. Your eagerness to misrepresent my argument is nauseating in the extreme.

So the threat is an imagined future event. Gotcha.
You're not going to change many minds with an attitude of smug indifference. Blackmailing companies into stepping in line with an ideology wins even fewer hearts and minds. Feigning innocence only works for so long before people get the picture. Remember that.

Show me the threats, then. What I saw was that Mathieu had a conversation with one individual who may or may not be LGBT, and then made this decision. No mention of threats or heckling. That one individual is also not representative of the LGBT community.
The inevitable reactionary response is the threat. It's happened to other games already. Cyberpunk 2077 faced the same exact thing. All of a sudden somebody decided it was time to be morally outraged, retweeted it thousands of times, and both the social justice community and the press came raining down on the developers like vultures. This backlash is everpresent and represents nothing short of an existential threat to any business that encounters it. This is how "inclusivity" is bought nowadays apparently, at twitter outrage point. Pressure is exerted on a business until it is forced to make a statement and if that statement doesn't make everybody feel nice and proud of themselves there will be hell to pay.

Remind me again who prompted this? Was it someone who said BHVR better not be inclusive or else? Not that I can recall. Funny thing, there's streamers that are being subjected to coordinated social justice crusades as we speak. Out of sight out of mind right? Awfully convenient though.

Wow! Where do i even begin. First you just proven the others argument right about not feeling welcomed. Second were just asking for representation. Also do you know in how many countries being gay is still illegal?
Why can't we just have a little representation I mean straight relationship are seen as normal in media and rl but lgbtq is seen as unnatural and not normal.
Most are probably not mad if we don't get a gay character. Ist fine, just don't tease us. I actually don't need a character it's enough if we get pride skins and belt/hook charms. A character would be nice tho.
Why do you even care so much if what gender kisses what gender. It doesn't affect you or hurt you.
You write your comment like we're going to stand behind the team with torches and Pitchforks, to make them do this. I don't even think anyone asked them to do this. If yes show me evidence of it.
Do you know that in some countries it's practically a death sentence if anyone finds out? I'm quite aware of the adversity facing homosexuals throughout the world. That's hardly what's being addressed here. They're facing true injustice and you? Well, you're feeling unincluded. Forgive me if I don't see the relation here. You ever hear the phrase "first world problems" before?
The demand to be constantly recognized and catered to cheapens the struggle of real people facing real cruelty all over the world. People are here heckling BHVR over "inclusion" not to save a person's life or to free them from oppression. I think you need to get your priorities straight here, because they are shockingly out of order.
Furthermore, don't pretend like this is anything other than a threat to the developers. Saying "no" subjects them to the full fury of social justice warriors that don't even play this game and have never heard of it. This is a circus and you know it.

That is all I am saying.
It's all good. I'll be honest I haven't read this whole exchange between you two so I definitely won't challenge your word. I've just gotten cynical about this whole inclusivity business. It's frustratingly off-target and that might be rubbing off on me.

Are you running out of things to accuse me of now? First you call me "Naive", next "Sheltered", Now you're saying I assume that because you claim yourself to be a part of a community you're not allowed an opinion.
Read. I said you are calling me sheltered from the real world, as if somehow I don't understand how corpotations work, because you think every company who supports the LGBTQI community isn't doing it genuinely or in a way that it appeases you.
They're not doing it genuinely. A business does not have a genuine feeling. A corporation does not care about anything because it doesn't have a mind. The people who run the corporation only answer to the following: Investors and Customers. Corporate employees get strong armed into making certain statements to appease their customers every day. This is no different, and I assure you that it is all 100% artificial all the time.
-
By losing, because balance is a joke when SWF is involved. They don't even need OoO to beat you because they can relay your location 90% of the time without it. You might get lucky, you might push one of them to make a mistake. You might even basement hook them. But remember you're not allowed to camp hooks and you're not allowed to tunnel according to the Survivor Handbook so if you get 1 kill you will receive a gigantic amount of salt from people that just can't quite understand you're a human being that likes bloodpoints too.
-
The devs want to do what they were doing before this BS even started. This is no different than any other instance of a political party or special interest group censoring or altering art and media via threats for their own purposes. It's a tale as old as time and it's sad to me how many people are so drunk on their own sense of right and wrong that they put a videogame's developers and community through a coordinated social engineering campaign. In the long run they will do nothing but harm their own platform and everyone else's.

It's ridiculous to demand evidence of something that hasn't happened yet. We have no clue whether BHVR is doing this as a honest step forward or a pandering stunt. Do you have any evidence that BHVR is putting the Silent Hill nurse skin in the game just as a cash grab to take advantage of her sexy body? Of course not! It's something that may not even happen.
My post was obviously in response to your statement that only doing something to pander doesn't make it any less important or exciting. Stop trying to pretend I said anything else cause you can't defend your erroneous statement and need to resort to a strawman argument to rebut against.
There is legitimately zero difference between an "honest step forward" and a "pandering stunt." There is no "forward" in this equation. BHVR is not being bettered by having a bunch of twitter keyboard warriors put them on strings and making them dance. You are under the mistaken impression that an individual or group can be forced to progress under threat of economic consequences. It's not progress, it's not even pandering, it's just business.

I meen, yes ruin nerfs maybe have dropped the numbers, but they are still perks like corrupt intervention that allow killers to stop generators early game. Killers have noed, to. So the kill rate must be around 50%. Killer mains, explain to me why survivors are overpowered.
On a side note, I am not doing this post to tell that killers are overpowered, I get it, they have a few issues like 4 man swf, all I am trying to do it to convince killers complaining that the game is balanced.
"A few issues with 4 man SWF" yeah a "few" like getting teams of them every other match running every meta perk in existence the second you hit green rank and it never goes away. Survivors have half a dozen tools to deprive killer of several minutes of time without so much as a hook and you wonder why killers think Survivor is OP? lol

See, I don't understand this. I get if you're using Insidious, there's room for error in the early game, but when you're revving your chainsaw for everybody to hear, and they still prioritize a save over gens, well, they're just asking for it.
My assumption is that they want to belittle the killer (more than usual, of course). They make the willful choice to give a camping killer the 4k, but it MUST be the killers fault that they made that choice.
Some of them actually think they can report you for facecamping. It's pretty funny actually, especially since I only did it because one of them was flagrantly disrespecting me but wasn't good enough to get away after. I can respect a teabagger that escapes, but if I get my hands on them they can expect to go on a hook and never come back off. Not like "oh I dropped a pallet and hit ctrl now I'm going to run" either, guy was rapidly squatting in place after three consecutive pallets. That's just a lack of respect right there. 😏

Why is it that 9.9 times out of 10 every single leatherface is toxic and facecamps/tunnels survivors all game? Is it a psychological condition where everyone who plays him channels his personality in the film and is simply #########? Genuine question.
Last time I played leatherface some cheeky survivor teabagged me at pallet drop three times so I facecamped him in the basement. I thought revving my chainsaw would communicate to the other Survivors they were free to complete the gens, but instead they decided to screw around so I 4k'd them. I didn't camp the others, not for a second, but they still gave me a lot of salt at the end. 😚

From what I was to understand if the Killers fail to torture the Survivors to a sufficient degree the Entity tortures the Killer instead.
