  • @NuclearBurrito No idea. I can mention the issue to our forum providers. Thanks :)

  • @PhantomMask20763 Not a non intended nerf. We knew going in what it was going to change for the other Obsession perks and we decided to go ahead with that change.

  • @Poweas NOED isn't currently looked at. I can ask Designers what the plan is for when the Endgame rework comes but AFAIK it wouldn't be touched.

  • I know that the new animation was really important for another prototype we tested before this one. Not sure if it was still the case for the upcoming changes.

  • Good question and I will make sure to add it to the Q&A post.
Will get that answer tomorrow when the team is back at the studio.

  • @Master It is already planned for release. It is not being put on the PTB as a test (like hatch closing / self-care) EDIT: clarification, it will be in the next PTB but it is something we intend to release for the next update.

  • @Weederick Our Designer is now Out of Office but I would assume you can. Let me just confirm it tomorrow. :)

  • @Poweas Beautiful when these things happen. ;)

  • Q & A on the UPCOMING DS CHANGES

Can a player use DS more than 1 time per match?

    No.

Do you lose the chance to use DS if you aren't using it on the first carry?

No you do not, the perk is disabled only when you miss or succeed the DS skillcheck.

Does the timer continues when in dying state / being healed?

Yes. The timer acts like the timer from Make your Choice or We'll Make it for example.

    When are these changes coming?

These changes will be implemented in the next update. They will be available in the next Player Test Build as well.

    Why shorten the killer stun?

We will be looking closely at feedback and interactions from the PTB to decide if we need to adjust the stun time.

DS change happened, how about NOED changes?

We aren't planning to change NOED at the moment. We consider that NOED has multiple gameplay counters and is currently in a good place. We do not think of NOED as an equivalent to DS.

How does the DS changes affect the other Obsession perks?

    • Increases your chance to become the obsession.
    • The Killer can only be Obsessed with one survivor at a time.

    Survivor Perks

    Decisive Strike

    • Transfers the Obsession status to the Decisive Strike user when successfully triggered during a trial.

    Sole Survivor

    • No Change

    Object of Obsession

    • Only the active Obsession has the ability to see the killer at a maximum range of 56/64/72 meters.

    Killer Perks

    Save the Best for Last

    • No matter the active Obsession, if a killer with Save the Best for Last hits a survivor who is the obsession they will lose 4/3/2 tokens.
    • The player who is no longer the obsession will be treated as a non-obsession, adding a 5% decreased successful attack cool down per hit.
    • The killer doesn't lose his tokens when the Obsession status is transferred to another survivor unless he hits the active Obsession.

    Play With Your Food

    • No matter who has been the Obsession, if a killer with Play With Your Food chases and lets the active Obsession escape, they will gain a movement speed token until their next offensive action.
    • The player who is no longer the Obsession will be treated as a non-obsession, meaning that activating a chase with a non-obsession and losing the chase will not grant the killer a PWYF token.

    Dying Light

    • The active Obsession has the altruistic action speed bonus while they are alive.
    • If the active Obsession is killed, Dying Light's de-buff is applied to all remaining survivors.
    • If, at some point in the trial, another player becomes the Obsession, Dying Lights de-buff will be removed as the Obsession is considered alive again.

    Remember Me

    • No matter the active Obsession, hitting the Obsession will add +5 seconds of Exit Gate opening time up to a maximum of 20/25/30 additional seconds.
    • All additional seconds are kept when the Obsession is killed, and if the active Obsession changes.
    • The active Obsession always ignore the extra door opening times. They are not affected by Remember Me.

    Rancor

    • The active Obsession will be revealed for 5/4/3 seconds when a generator is completed.
    • The non-Obsessions, even one that was recently the Obsession, will have their locations revealed for 3 seconds after a generator is completed.
    • Once all generators have been completed, the active Obsession will be exposed and can be killed. This is true for any active Obsession which means that the Rancor mori can potentially be used up to 4 times.

    Killer Add-ons

    Judith's Journal
Stalking the active Obsession grants more stalks points per second.

    Black Box
Only active at the start of the match. Will not reactivate when the Obsession changes.

  • When we are ready to communicate about the new content, we will.
The only thing I am allowed to say right now is Soon™

  • You read right. That's how the future changes to DS works. Obsession is now jumping from a survivor to another after they use DS.

  • Right now our Community team is gathering feedback and questions on the DS changes. We need to run it by the Designers and will hopefully be able to answer most of them tomorrow.

  • @Delfador The PTB will be coming before the next big update. DS will be included in it and is already planned to be released live with the next update. It won't be in testing mode like we did for Self Care in January.

  • Our Community team is currently gathering all the questions and feedback on the upcoming DS changes. We will reach out to the Designers to bring you answers shortly. (hopefully tomorrow)

  • Interesting. Sent this post to the Level designers. Maybe it will spark a discussion?

  • Refreshing post @FireHazard :)
Thank you guys for participating. Keep'em coming!

  • @RuneStarr I like your ideas! Here is where we are on both.
    1. This is something that the Community team really does want to make happen. It needs multiple level of approvals within the team and we are currently just drafting the project. Coming up with something like this (or similar) is one of our objectives on a mid-term plan.
    2. We are currently expending the Marketing team here at DBD. The growth of the team will, in time, allow us to communicate better and more strategically about specific subjects and content releases. When it comes to the PTB, granted, it does take away the ''hype part'' but we need the PTB to be happening. It gives us a lot of feedback and allows us to pinpoint issues better before the official launch. I can't wait to see what you have to say about our communication on the upcoming chapter! :)

  • Just jumping in to say that I am keeping an eye on this post. It's nice to see people coming in with positive ideas for changes. Keep at it! :)

  • @The_Crusader It will, in time. At first we will be concentrating on the migration of the game itself. Additional features and backlog items might come at a later date.

  • Confirmed bug. We have logs and everything we need. Thanks for the report! :)

  • @Bbbrian2013 You can consult our rules here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system#latest
Yes, at the end of the escalation, a player can be permanently banned from the game for disconnecting too often.

  • @Sinner As you know we are working on Dedicated Servers and lots of changes regarding game balance. We are hoping that upcoming changes will help some of the issue we are currently facing with Disconnects. Harsher punishment for leavers is also considered but we will not change our system before we migrate on Dedicated Servers. Rewards for players with good behavior would also be something we would like to see but it is currently in the backlog.

  • @HavelmomDaS1 @The_Crusader Our numbers have a buffer for that kind of situation. And will also be adjusted depending on the number of games you play in a definite timeframe.

  • @DuckApproved Since it seemed to be important to you, we made an exception and investigated your case right away. Have a good day!

  • What @Orion said is right. We are not communicating our threshold because it leads to abuse. And we are doing bans in waves because that's what the system allows us to do at the moment. We all wish that the punishment was more strict for disconnecting but that's what we are able to do right now because of how our system registers disconnects. Hopefully we will get a better system when we migrate the game on Dedicated Servers.

  • @Mr_Sparkle

Thanks for your feedback and welcome to the game!

As @Orion mentioned, we act on player reports so don't hesitate to report when you feel you are being wronged. We have a team of Associate Community Managers that are reviewing player reports and issuing bans for harassment and griefing. (you can consult the rules here)

As some others mentioned, you also have the option to hide the after game chat if you do not want to communicate with your opponents / teammates. I hope this helps!

  • @DuckApproved The team dedicated to cosmetics has a very specific roster including a store manager, concept artists, 3D artists, and some animation time. As @Boss said, we do not have programmers integrating the cosmetics in the game, the artists are doing it themselves through a database tool. Even if we wanted to, we couldn't ask the artists to fix bugs in the game, not the one that are the main issue the game is currently facing. Be reassured that no one is taken away from fixing bugs to create cosmetics. I hope this clarifies our process a little! :)

  • @NekoTaryn Dead by Daylight has some issues with specific Internet Service Providers that are blocking the Killer from hosting matches. Maybe that's your case? We know that most of these ISPs are located in EU.

If you are new to the game, you will be matched with players that are roughly the same rank as you, today is the last day of the season, less players are in low ranks which means a longer time to get a game. Lucky for you, season reset is tomorrow!

As for the current users on PC, our game average is currently around 22K players at all time with highs in the 30K and lows in the 15K. Hope this information helps!

  • You guys have so many great ideas! We sent this thread to the Event team.
    Keep them coming!

  • All the useful links are in this post here :)
    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/10/useful-links#latest

    @twistedmonkey thanks for answering!

  • @AlwaysInAGoodShape Your posts are always so complete and creative. It's nice to see how you explain your reasoning and ideas. Constructive feedback like yours is greatly appreciated. I sent the entire post to the Event team to see if it can spark a discussion. Thanks for being so active here :)

  • @3stadt Wow this is really neat! I have a question for you, I sent you a DM. :)

  • @AntiJelly is right! Thanks for looking out @Crythor :)

  • @OrionsFury4789 Right now in the way P2P is build, the PING indicator was added to give the players choice to dodge lobbies that aren't optimal (high pings) so it wouldn't be very fair to punish for lobby dodging. When we get Dedicated Servers, hopefully the matter will be reviewed. For now a lot of things that are Dedicated Servers related aren't determined yet.

  • Our hosting system is peer to peer. Which means that the survivors are connecting directly to the killer (host) instead of on a dedicated server. When the connection between the host (killer) and the survivors is lost (can be caused by game crashes, rage quits, internet issues, etc.) you see the survivors as Disconnected.

We have a system that punishes players from disconnecting often from games (rage quits) but it will not take action immediately after the act of leaving one game happens. The players who do it often are flagged automatically and banned.

    Hope this helps!

  • @RuneStarr I am laughing so loud at this. Almost as loud as the Haddonfield music.
But yeah, it's a bug guys. It should be fixed in the next big update.

  • Very possible.

  • A little difference for console, since there is no endgame chat, players often get harrassed in DMs. Like on Steam for PC, we do not ban based on communication on other platforms (ie: DMs from other players on your PSN) If you are getting harrassed by private messages, please contact the according services. (Microsoft / Sony support)

  • WHat the what what?
Guys you will always surprise me.

  • @Orion said:

Not enough! Orion demands compensation in the form of 1 kilogram of milk and/or white chocolate! That, or shirtless Shape.

    No milk. :|

  • That's good! Last time I had it I didn't have an issue but if you see it, please report :)

  • We are listening, there are a lot of details involved when it comes to game development and we can't talk / communicate until we have a clear plan.

Here are the steps we are taking / took to react to the Community feedback on the event.

    1. Fix the launch issue - No event progression (2h)
    2. Sent a hotfix for crashes and the false vessel progression for survivors (Next day PC / Friday on PS4 / Monday on XBOX) Console updates take a bit more time because they need to be approved.
    3. While 1-2 were going on we were also busy getting feedback from the Community on the Event itself.
We came up with 4 main points: Not enough progression from the killer side / Not enough offerings in the Bloodweb / Longer matchmaking on survivor side / Not enough Bloodpoint generation from the offerings.
    4. Once the 1-2 issues were fixed, we analyzed data on matchmaking to try and isolate the problem causing the extended survivor queues and rule out a bug.
    5. Then, we needed to chose to push a hotfix and decide what we could include in the hotfix that can match the Community feedback. We chose to change the Killer event progression as well as the Offering spawn rate. (for more details: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/45458/moonrise-event-balance-hotfix#latest)
    6. Today, we are pushing the first balance change to the killer event progression and we hope it will improve the killer's event experience and improve the survivor matchmaking. This update is to the backend so players won't have to download anything.
    7. We are planning the hotfix this week to adjust the spawning rate of event offerings as well as correct the text to match our balance backend changes.

    Hope this helps :)

The rest are bugs and other issues that have been reported to QA.

  • Alright coming back with some info:
The deadzone on the Swamp map is fixed internally, hopefully will be pushed with the next big update. (yay!)
The deadzone on Lery has been marked as fixed since September 2018 but if you have experienced the bug again @EntityDispleased , please tell us :)

  • Yeah pretty sure that's already logged in. Let me check for you. :)
  • @The_Crusader No, right now they have the updates but not the new content. So they can get everything with Iridescent Shards but they have no means to get Auric Cells.

@Jack11803 Sadly there is nothing I can tell you right now as I don't know the status of this. However, it has been reported to the team a few times already. I can check if I can get more information.

  • You are safe.
Just make sure your friend doesn't have any previous bans, especially if they've been banned repeatedly.
But you say they do not own DBD so that shouldn't be an issue.

  • People often threaten players with bans because they logged a report but they cannot know that their report will have that outcome.

Our team of ACM review reports, they are not automated bans. In case of doubt we don't ban.
I cannot give you information on your case because I have not seen the reports (and we don't do it in public) but if it's a standalone report, you have nothing to worry about.

  • I know that's something that isn't planned but I'll bring the feedback to the team. :)

  • This is not on the QA team at all. An update to the backend services was the cause of the issue.
QA team would not have been able to test it.
