Lol this poor guy. We've named like half the killers in the game already. We might as well just list all the rest. XD
-
Doctor is a lot of fun to play in my opinion. Good map pressure. I also enjoy Plague.
I don't have a whole lot of experience playing as killer though, so my opinion may be in the minority.
-
I can see him being outdated, yes. I THINK I've faced a red rank trapper but I can't say for sure. If so it's the exception, not the rule.

I don't understand how people enjoy the game at 10k hours the game has basically been the same for 5 years
I was honestly astonished when I saw it. I wouldn't have believed it had I not seen the actual numbers with my own eyes.
Granted, there are games I've played off and on all my life, ever since I was a kid 30 years ago. Zelda, Final Fantasy IV, Maniac Mansion, Super Mario 3, etc etc etc. And there are also games that I've pumped loads of time into, such as GTA V. But I'd say that GTA V / online is probably the one I've spent the most time on in total and that one stands at like 1,000 hours or less. So yeah, I mean, I love this game but I find it difficult to imagine spending the equivalent of more than a literal year with a controller in my hands playing the exact same game. That's more than a solid year with no sleep, no eating, no leaving the house, no bathroom breaks. That's more than a year of doing literally NOTHING but playing this one game, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
-
Just so I understand - we can't say the "F" word, but we can post ten thousand images that include it? I want to know where the jury stands on this. :P
-
Sounds slightly (just slightly) like the Jersey Devil, which is cool.
-
I've looked at Steam profiles of people who have more than 10,000 hours in this game.
...Then again this game does have something of a toxic community, so...XD

I find it weird that so many people think that Trapper should be changed in some way. This is purely anecdotal but I face him on quite a regular basis and he's almost always REALLY good. Intelligent, sneaky, shrewd use of the traps. I see way more good Trappers than bad.
Again though, just my own experience.

I still think if we get another stranger things map, we would NEED starcourt mall
A mall is at or near the top of my list. A little Dead Rising, sure, but they weren't the first to come up with the idea. I remember that first-run copies of the game came with stickers on the cover that said something like "in no way totally ripped off from George Romero's Dawn of the Dead", lol.

Wow! You've really put some thought into it, I love all the suggestions! :D
Some of those I think would be REALLY cool.
Thank you! While some just popped into my head, others are ones that I've envisioned while playing and thought "Now THAT is a map I would love". I'm a huge fan of the 1978 Dawn of the Dead so the concept of playing a horror game in a mall is awesome to me. Someone else mentioned it but it's been on my mind as well. Same with a cemetery. How can this game NOT have a cemetery yet?
I also love the idea of a hotel. Maybe not something huge like the overlook in The Shining but even just a modern, average two or three-story hotel like what you or I or anyone else might stop at along the highway - just creepily abandoned. Same with the apartment complex. Silent Hill 3 did the construction building very nicely, and there are moments of real fright in Session 9 that take place in the (real, and still existing at the time) underground mental patient tunnels in Danvers State Hospital.
I guess I find myself thinking "where would I myself be most scared if I ran into a killer at night". Parks and playgrounds are incredibly eerie at night. Deep woods, so deep you can't see daylight (no pun intended). I certainly wouldn't want to be in some kind of mine or cave like in The Descent. *Shudders*
-
Just get Danny Trejo.
Please BHVR, I beg you. Get Danny Trejo.
-
Why not? There are a lot of opportunities for cool, unique maps. I think that map diversity is one of this game's biggest strengths and I'd like to see more of it.
- Tropical resort
- Shopping mall (Dawn of the Dead)
- Cemetery (This should be obvious)
- Creepy mansion / estate
- Abandoned mine
- Derelict railyard (train cars)
- Construction lot
- Deep woods (not just some trees here and there, I mean DEEP woods. Canopy, etc.)
- Summer camp
- Apartment complex
- Hotel
- Lakeside
- Empty city streets (28 Days Later, I Am Legend, A Quiet Place)
- Morgue
- Underground tunnels (Session 9)
- Hedge maze
- Park / playground

The reference was to the book 1984 because..nevermind. It was a great decade, i was 10 that year. Lived in middle of nowhere texas. I think the town had maybe 100 people, surrounded by desert. Got my first bb gun that year as well, no cactus was safe.
I've been around for what's inching towards half a century. I got the book reference. :)
But yes, that truly was the last great decade in my opinion. There was virtually no political correctness and no one cared or got seriously irate about it. We had a president who won the 2nd-greatest landslide in the history of presidential elections, carrying all but 3 states the first time and all but one state the second time. We had Garbage Pail Kids, Masters of the Universe, M.U.S.C.L.E., every kind of gimmick candy you could think of, the boom of personal computers and the rise and fall of the home video game market, everyone dressed however they wanted and were free to be themselves, everything was neon, and music and movies all rocked.
This reminds me that there's a really good, really overlooked horror movie called "Summer of '84".

Thanks, but I am fine with not knowing anything about it. I just didn’t really connect this thread with it tbh, but I don’t need to know the connection either way.
I don't blame you. From what I can tell there's not much more to the story anyway. Streamer acted dumb, or at least in a way that was deemed offensive, there's some disagreement as to whether his resulting punishment was fair, the end.

I actually have no idea what this is about.. :)
My understanding, which isn't much more informed than yours, but here goes:
Two DBD streamers disagreed on something. At least one of them was apparently banned or in some way punished. People are angry about it.
That's really about it. I'm telling you this only because I also understand that the mods have been going crazy trying to keep all the drama over it under control, so I advise you not to push for details. They've got enough on their plate, I saw like 12 topics on the subject over the last hour alone.

"Spooky" little black-haired kids doing the Kubrick stare.
Bleh.

1984 was a really good year. I'm sorry to those of you who didn't have the luck of growing up in the greatest decade of modern history. I barely even recognize this world anymore.

"Toxicity", to me, is simply the act of perpetuating a negative and unpleasant environment by being consistently negative and unpleasant oneself.

As far as I can tell, it's actually not against the forum rules. The rules clearly state we are not to discuss people's bans or name-and-shame, which I haven't actually seen yet since no-one is banned or naming anyone for the purposes of shaming.
I mentioned this somewhere a few minutes ago (I've popped into a few similar threads so I can't recall which) but I've been a moderator on a professional gaming forum, I understand (to an extent, as I don't know the whole story yet) what they're going through. Moderators aren't just there to delete specific instances of rule-breaking, they have to also generally keep the peace. Whatever's going on right now is obviously a big blustery deal and they're just trying to chill things out. I've been where they are, it's a thankless job that a lot of people don't fully understand. Try not to be too angry with them or take deletions personally. They're just doing what they were put in their positions to do.

Okay, thanks for trying. Don't bother trying again, it's obviously a very sensitive subject. I can always try to find out more elsewhere.
I can tell from the number of threads and the general tone that this is, for reasons I can't personally understand, a very big deal, and having been a mod before (again, not here, but on another gaming forum) I know that it's incredibly exhausting and frustrating having to delete a bunch of stuff which just leads to other people being upset about the previous deletions, etc. It snowballs, so better you and I not contribute to it.
Thanks for the info, I think I have the gist. I'll just do some reading and watch the video you mentioned if I need more details. Don't get yourself in trouble over this, whatever it is I'm sure it's not worth it.

- Define "irony"

The only time I ever get mad at anyone on my "team" (I solo survivor) is when I can tell, through perks or otherwise, that they're legit not playing the game. They're just hiding the whole time, staying out of sight, not contributing, letting people die on hooks while they switch between lockers, etc., just so they can get the hatch escape. I DESPISE that kind of player.
Now, do I myself get crapped on by the rest of the "team" because, based on the fact that I prefer stealthy, sneaky gameplay, they simply assume that that's what I'M doing? Yep.
-
This happened to me a couple of weeks ago on the PC version, if it makes you feel any better. I think it's just a server / connection bug that happens sometimes.

Cannot wait for bot matches.
Can. Not. Wait.
I love the variety in this game. I love that there are so many different kinds of killers (even if some are cheap). I love the imagination that goes into the originals, and the quality of most of the licensed characters. I also love how many different flavors of survivor there are. Black, white, Asian, Eastern, male, female, thick, thin. Between these choices and all the perks there are just so many different things to do in this game, relative to how simple the broad concept is.
I love how many maps there are. I do miss dark Coldwind, and think that they could have at least kept a couple of those maps dark, but generally speaking I like the vast majority of maps in this game.
I love that there are SO many ways to get bloodpoints. So many people look at this game as a grind, I look at it as a game. You get bloodpoints for playing, bloodpoints through codes, bloodpoints through rituals, bloodpoints through challenges, extra bloodpoints for offerings. You're never far away from a level or two, or five, or ten.
I love that the game continues to be developed five years on. I've seen games that stopped being developed before they were even finished.
I love that there are sportsmanlike players out there, even if you sometimes have to look to find them.
I love the indoor maps. All of them. And no one's going to change my mind.
I love how many cosmetics there are, though I feel that they're astronomically priced.
I love the music. I love the sound effects. I love the sound design in general.
I love the aesthetic, though seeing shots of the old maps makes me wish that they brought some of the more immersive atmosphere back.
I love the gameplay loop. Playing this game is just plain addicting.
I love that they released this game for the Switch. I get a kick out of playing DBD while laying in bed or spending a night in a hotel with my Lite.
I love Meg and her red hair. Please do not take away Meg's gorgeous red hair.

Right???? For one if youre playing portable, you better hope you're in a completely dark room to see anything. Second docked... gl with skill checks.
My greatest achievement in this game was getting a 4K with Michael Myers on the Switch Lite while standing against the inside of a Wal-Mart entrance and charging the system where they plug in the power carts. Couldn't have possibly been any more bright and distracted unless I was getting autopsied. :D

Oh, using it for practice would be nice! Perhaps I would finally learn to play Huntress properly!
Still, what I truly want to see are old things. If they don't want to go for old maps, then at least go for old powers. At least let me play as my old main again.
I would just hate to see you disappointed. You're a nice guy and you clearly have a love for how the game used to be, and I myself have been in the position of waiting for what I thought were surefire things (at one point even getting the chance to tell the developers of a different series face to face how much I wished for them) only to be disappointed for technical or developer preference reasons.
So I mean, if you want to hope for the best that's cool, and I'll definitely be hoping with you, but try to prepare for the worst. When you think about it nothing about adding AI bots to the game necessarily means getting old builds or maps back, they're not mutually inclusive, so it's kind of a far hope. But, as I always say, I DO hope you get your wish. A lot of us would love it, including myself now that you've shown off those gorgeous pictures of the old maps.

True he might eventually, meanwhile 3 gens popped, and 3-4 escaped.
This can happen, yes, but man does it suck being the one guy who has to run half the map just hearing "CHONK CHONK CHONK CHONK CHONK CHONK CHONK", intermixed with the occasional splat and giggle, as you just jerk all over the place trying to avoid what's basically an endless series of projectiles. It's monotonous, irritating, and the complete antithesis of fun. Then if you get away and start to heal yourself from the number of blades that DID hit you, he's already jumped into a locker to get 10,000 more to come throw at you again. The character is just sheer, 100 percent annoyance in every conceivable way.
@Nyx32 said:
wait until this guy learns about huntress
I actually like playing against the Huntress quite a bit, I find her to be one of the most balanced characters in the game. She only has a handful of chances to hit you from a distance, not sixty, and she's also got a loud tell when she's ready to take her swing. Yes, the hitboxes are inconsistent, but I've dodged probably as many as I've taken. Additionally she can't just whip them out rapid fire forcing me to basically just run a floor buffer over my controller to make sure that my character is running and wiggling all over the place to avoid taking a mere 7.5 percent of the throws.
She also doesn't have vocal giggles and taunts which make her that much more smug and irritating to have to listen to.

Glad to see that you agree :)
And well, I doubt everything was just deleted. It would be a very unwise decision to to delete years of content just because a few changes were made.
Besides, we know for a fact that some things are still in the game, despite the changes they have received.
Example: If you hit a survivor with Endurance as Freddy, it will play the exact same effect as when Old Freddy would try to hit an awake survivor. Sadly, Freddy got reworked back in 2019, but this little effect is still there. Credit goes to @QwQw for finding that out, btw!
I think it is possible to do it.
Oh I absolutely agree, I wrote in the PTB feedback that I was incredibly grateful for bot matches and that I really hoped that they would add to it, which they did suggest in the anniversary stream that they would. I still don't know if we'd be able to get the old maps (they may not be deleted from all sources, they're likely archived at least, I just don't think that they're in the game files anymore), I just don't think that we'd be that lucky. They'd probably say that they were removed because of various complications, or they wouldn't want to use them anymore since they're trying to focus people toward the new map redesigns. But yeah, I'd still like it.
And people have been saying that they'd use the mode for practice, which is great! That's one of the many reasons why I want it too. There are killers I'd like to try but who I just feel too anxious and embarrassed about using because I suck too bad with them. I played Bubba last night and literally didn't hit anybody. Not one HIT. Granted, the team was really good, but I totally mistimed all of his chainsaw attacks. The survivors were polite about it for once, but that's just one example of how I need to learn character's timing and proper use of powers and perks, which isn't the easiest thing to do when matched against players of equal or better skill. Additionally, as was stated, a bot mode would also help hold the hand of newcomers for a little while until they feel comfortable enough to jump into the world of meta builds and sweat squads. Plus, as they said in the stream, this could be something for people to do if the queue times are too long.
This is just a great idea altogether and I cannot wait until it's more full. To be honest I even thought of redownloading the PTB just so I could play some more bot matches and explore it some more, even in its currently limited state.

I agree completely. That is why I've suggested full customisation when it comes to this mode. Things like playing with old powers, on old maps, with old perks.
Since we will be playing with bots, why not give us freedom?
While I get the impression (and have fingers tightly crossed) for the mere ability to customize the matches based on what's currently standard assets that are used in the game, I'm with you in thinking that it would be AMAZING to play on old versions of the maps with old perks and whatnot as well. The thing is, my guess (and it is just a guess) is that outdated versions of things that are in this game are likely just flat-out deleted. I don't think that old maps or perks or anything like that is still sitting there ready to go in the game files. I just don't see it happening.
I'd love to be wrong, but I'd be surprised if I am.
-
I haven't noticed any serious differences on my Lite, I'm actually rather impressed that the portable version of the game is the exact same thing as the PC version of the game, just with lower FPS and some reduced graphics.
It's worth noting that the game is supposed to run better portably than docked. Not sure why.
-
The bots in the PTB have decent AI. Definitely not braindead morons who run into walls and jog in place, that kind of thing. There's huge room for potential here.
They mentioned that they were planning on doing more with bots. I would love - LOOOOOOOVE - a fully fleshed-out bot mode in which we could choose the participants, perks, and maps. I'd never put this game down. I don't care if I rank, I don't care if I make bloodpoints that can't be spent outside the mode, I don't care if achievements are off. I don't really care about any of the extraneous stuff to be honest. A fully functional bot mode would be a dream come true for me and that's all I need.

No problem, french fries are my greatest weakness so I see that name and think "hell yeah", lol.
-
I know.
-
Amanda is profoundly important to the Saw mythos. She's arguably the second most important character in the series after only Jigsaw himself. Why was she chosen? Pig mask. No paying for likeness rights. Easy peasy. Tapp looks absolutely nothing like Danny Glover either.
John Kramer wasn't particularly mobile. The only time you ever really see him move is briefly in the first film. He wouldn't make much sense as a killer. Besides which, that goes against his entire M.O. John didn't kill anybody, he tested others to see how far they would go to demonstrate that they value their own lives.
-
At least killers can get adept. I've done the adept challenge with Claudette four times now. No achievement.
Side note: I love the name "Large Fries".
-
Pyramid Head is an ancient executioner who...
...Just play Silent Hill 2. He's very much male.
-
Clear his throat.
-
Plague is so fun. I chuckle like a little girl whenever I have a Plague match. When playing AS her I can't stop giggling at vomiting waves of barf that go like 300 feet. When I'm playing against Plague I can't stop giggling at the comical puking noises, especially from Meg. Plague is just fun. She's a unique killer and I like her a lot.
-
An hour ago I was literally in the middle of typing "GG" before a fellow survivor who lost started screaming about how we all cost him his win because we didn't play well enough for his tastes. The team was useless, calling them crap would be a compliment, etc etc etc. It resorted to references of homosexual activity by the end, natch.

Literally every Trickster i play against is terrible but because of his dumb design it's literally impossible to get distance from a hook especially with his "main event" where he can literally throw 100 knives at you with his base kit too...what dev thought this was actually a good idea to have in the game? Literally just delete him, i'd rather keep playing against Spirits and Nurses instead of this trash.
This guy gets it.
"Trickster is weak", "Trickster is lame", "Trickster is underpowered". Those things could all be true. But you know what else he is, to SURVIVORS? A massive, throbbing, pain in the ass. He doesn't actually DO anything. All it takes to be annoyed in a Trickster match is for him to spot you from fifty feet away. Then boom, here comes 3,247 knives. Run back and forth, back and forth, behind obstacles, roundabout trees, etc., just play a damn game of dodgeball. And since he DOES have what is essentially an infinite amount of knives that can go clear across the ######### map, all he has to do is keep spamming them until a relative small amount connect. It's pretty much a mathematical certainty that sooner or later he's going to down you, not because of skill but because of sheer attrition.
Man, you should have played when was first released. He was the only character anyone played for WEEKS. Thank god now he only shows up like once every 3-4 days. Let him be forgotten and ignored for the rest of time as he deserves to be, the lame pansy Kpop freak.
-
It would be cool, Donnie Wahlberg is a good actor. One of the more important characters in the Saw films as well, at least until things went south at about the midway point of the series. I would love Jigsaw himself but that wouldn't be especially practical. I would also love a version of Amanda without the pig mask but you know, likeness rights.
Cary Elwes would be pretty awesome. But it would be hard to know exactly what role he would play. That's all I'm going to reveal on that particular subject...
-
This Meg is basically the personification of beauty to me. Classy yet casual.
-
I don't understand specifically going for any character for any reason (other than perhaps P3 Claudette) being that they can all use any other characters' perks. I run all my characters using perks that, in general, have nothing to do with them.
-
Just played a good, competitive, tricky match on Midwich against the Clown. He won all but one kill, further reiterating for me that killers do just fine on that map, but I digress.
After the match, as I was preparing the comment "Very close, good tricky game", a fellow survivor (one who lost) said "wow, what a bunch of useless teammates". I said "Relax, everyone played well, you can't win them all". The survivor said "that's just it, YOU cost us the win". Which is funny because I did nothing wrong, I didn't run headfirst for a camped hook like one of the other survivors did, bringing us to 2 mobile players and one door open. The other mobile player ran out, leaving everyone else behind. The hooked and camped survivor died while Clown took the other downed survivor to another hook. That's when I made my move, but the Clown popped out from the stairs and downed me for my second hook. No one was "at fault", the Clown just played better and had a bit of luck on his side.
I told the salty survivor that his tirade gives all survivors a bad name. He said "go ruin someone else's game". He then said (referring to my name), "you play like a rat". I don't think he even knew which player he was responding to, being that I did two gens, three heals, and two unhooks. Either way I told him "that's funny, you whine like a mule". He countered with "You suck D like a ###".
Total killer post-match saltiness: Still zero.
-
Handy, I don't really see a problem with it. I've had it benefit me as well as screw me over. I've found that altruism kills, so leaving the door just enough to run out and grab that last survivor is just as detrimental to the survivor as anybody.

And just like Spirit, Brigitte is HAWT
