Can everyone who reads this band together to ban the OP?
(Kidding, kidding. Just making an ironic joke).

Not even slightly the prettiest. She's bottom-tier. That's not to say she's ugly, but there are half a dozen more attractive females in this game.
And I certainly don't mean to make a racial thing out of this but I can't help but notice that in that picture she looks like a white girl with a wig.

You spelled Meg wrong.

Okay, then ultimately it looks like I didn't lose anything after all. There were some weird DCs today, and an issue trying to send a friend request to a buddy who was playing on console (as opposed to PC, like myself), which changed the on-screen "cursor" from the console circle to a mouse pointer. In other words there were a few weird issues, a restart seems to have sorted them all.
Thank you both for the confirmation.

I do think it would be a neat little detail if the timer revealed the countdown until the sacrifice. Hell, since it's a Saw map, maybe being hooked on that specific map could hasten the sacrifice itself? As a sort of counter to all the killer complaints about the map sucking because it has too many pallets?
I don't know, just a thought. I love the map.
@[Deleted User] said:
what does the timer actually mean anyways
Just flavor for the license. Saw is all about traps and as such features lots of countdown timers and things of that nature in the various films.
-
Thanks, again I appreciate you looking.
I reset the game and thankfully DO see the individual bloody pieces in their respective sections, so I haven't lost them. That's what's most important. I could swear that I could just apply the whole outfit at once though instead of putting it on one piece at a time. Was I incorrect about that?
Again, either way, they're in my inventory now so that's a relief.
-
If anything it's underrated. Whenever I hear that map mentioned it's with spite. I love it and always find myself in the position of defending it.
I don't mean to generalize here (I know that there are an infinite number of whiny survivors, trust me) but sometimes I wonder if killer mains just don't like walls and want every map to be a giant open field.

There's nothing worse than a "fake" Booper. I had a Feng once who approached me like they wanted to Boop, and when I crouched down to accept, they dropped a pallet on me instead.
Needless to say, that ended badly for them. 😂
I have to admit that I laughed out loud at your boop / pallet story. The way you phrased it was just hilarious to me for some reason. I guess because it's so easy to imagine.
I guess, the way I look at it, I can't expect that every Pig player will be interested in booping. And to be fair this one didn't pretend to boop, I'm the one who ducked first hoping for one. Some people just think it's stupid, or never heard of the phenomenon. I myself didn't know about it until several months into the game.
But yeah, players or Pigs who fake the boop? That's just #########. It's the equivalent of offering a sportsmanlike handshake and then throwing out a sucker punch.

Was going to check for you but Meg happens to be one of the survivors I haven't P3 yet. 😥
I appreciate it all the same. Do your other P3s have their outfits? And have you III-50'd with anyone? It was only after that (as opposed to the P3) that I noticed the outfit is gone.
-
Weird, side by side I don't like the new design as much. She's still gorgeous, everyone has imperfections and I don't think something like a potential slight overbite or whatever suddenly render her monstrous. That said, she still looks a bit too young and "soft" to me. That's how I would describe all of these redesigns, everyone has gotten "softened".
Her new hair is very pretty but I hope that Meg keeps her red hair, it drives me nuts that the redesign picture had her looking more or less dirty blonde. Meg is a HARD redhead and I'd miss that aspect of her a lot if it were removed, especially if (and I know this is speculation, but IF) it were removed because they wanted Kate and Kate alone to be the one with some red in her hair.

Claudette and Jake look awesome.
I'm wondering if licensed characters will have a chance to get a rework. Cheryl is fine, even if she looks a bit older than her Silent Hill 3 model. But Laurie and Quentin could use a rework!
Cheryl looks a little too ragged to me, like a homeless drug addict or something.
Though, to be fair, anyone who's played the games knows why she would look this way.

The point of these tests is to figure out if MMR is working properly. If it's not, the devs need data to be able to understand why.
For the record, it's working fine for me.
It's not working as intended for me but I agree with you, they need to get the matchmaking issue sorted and the only way to do so is to perform live tests. I'm willing to sacrifice a couple of days of wonkiness to provide them with data that might help.

This might be because we're playing against rainbow ranks now. You see a ton of chronic quitters in grey and yellow ranks - grey ranks because they don't know they shouldn't be struggling off hook, yellow because that's the rank where players who suicide or DC most games end up in. When I was organically in yellow ranks, somebody would kill themselves basically every match. (Or be afk.) Took a while to crawl out of that pit because of it.
You're probably right.

I'm a rank 1 Killer, and I know that the matchmaking has never been the best. But I just did three games in a row getting paired up against 20s and 16s. Is the matchmaking broken right now? Like is anybody else getting paired up repeatedly with people way out of there rank? It's kinda boring because it's easy games, and it's not fair to them.
My average, over the last 30 hours of play separated by a few days, has been myself at rank 9 or 10, another survivor at or just below the same rank, a survivor (and killer) at any rank but usually in the teens or close to twenty, and a final survivor at rank 1 or 2.
So I guess everyone's getting representation: The top, medium, and lowest tier players are all consistently paired up together.

Agreed. If someone is going to spam their flashlight or run around bodyblocking and teabagging while I'm booping, that guy's gonna get it.

I'm seeing WAY too any disconnects. At least five or six per day. It's not even against especially sweaty or even tricky killers. Characters are bailing on their first hook. It's rapidly becoming tiresome.
You know something is up when, after a match, the killer (who won) and one of the defeated survivors (myself) can spend a good three minutes chatting about how lame the disconnecting issue is.
-
The teeth aren't a big thing. It's just a slightly opened mouth, that's all. And as was mentioned, it's a T-pose (generic default character model pose). She won't always look like that in-game.
I understand people being worried that she has buck teeth now but she's definitely not going to look like that poor kid in the 1997 remake of The Shining.

Thank you, and likewise. Any time I play Amanda, I go out of my way for the snooting. And as other good users in this thread have said, anyone who boops gets a free pass.
-
I tried booping a pig dressed all in black. I should have known something was up; he or she wasn't having it.
-
We should take this one step further and have survivors turn their backs to the killer, drop their pants, and literally just take a huge dump in front of him.
-
Don't like the randomized matchmaking myself. Not even for myself, but for rank 19 and 20 players who are thrown in my match with red ranks.
The point is, if there IS a ranking system, it should work properly. Otherwise there's no point in having one.
-
Subtle, but not bad. It's hard to mess up someone as beautiful as Kate, and they didn't, but she looks a little too young to me now. Like she went from early twenties to mid teens.
-
This is a lateral move to me. Adam looks fine now but he looked fine before, I don't see much need for the rework.
-
This game likely won't last another fifteen years. That's 2-3 more console generations, gaming will likely change too much in that time. Few games ever retain consistent popularity for that long. That said, there's no reason to think that the game can't still go another five or ten. It's sold millions of copies across multiple platforms, it's not small-time.
As to whether Five Nights at Freddy's would be some great rejuvenator, I have to disagree. I like the series fine, the lore is really cool. But, like an anime-infused K-pop character, FNAF is its own thing. It has its own established fandom. Bringing a FNAF character into DBD would cause just as much controversy and irritation as it would excitement and new fans. That series is, for better or worse, largely enjoyed by young adults.

Yeah, I spoke too soon. After making that post earlier I played the rest of the day and encountered the wide range of ranks mentioned above. I'm about rank 8 or 10 and my average was playing with a rank 18 or 19, a rank 8, and a rank 1 or 2.

- OH! And the first Silent Hill film is based very closely on the first game, so if you like one you'll probably like the other. Unfortunately, the best game in the series is number 2, and it's also a standalone title, which means that it was absolutely ripe for film treatment. It never got it. The second Silent Hill film is just some slapdash piece of ######### mess that bares little to no resemblance to the source material. It's the Resident Evil movies of the Silent Hill film franchise, lol. Don't waste your time.

The Ritual doesn't get enough love. Enjoyed that.
I was a fan of Puppet Master 2 as a youngster, but after part 3 they're utterly appalling.
Some films I like that don't get the recognition they deserve:
HOSTEL: The thing I love about this film is that every scene counts. There are no duds. There is foreshadowing all over the place. It's a fantastic film. One of my favourites. The sequel had it's moments but wasn't a patch on the original. The third chapter was poor.
MANIAC COP: There isn't much to it, but it's been a guilty pleasure since I was a child. Simple but fun.
DARK NIGHT OF THE SCARECROW: Another film I saw as a child, and it absolutely terrified me. It has a creepy atmosphere and doesn't reply on gory kills.
CLOWN (2014): A great film. Guy puts a clown suit on...and it won't come off. He then starts to change. Worth a watch.
THE REEF: This was a brilliant film. After The Shallows, this is the best shark film since Jaws.
In my opinion the first three Puppet Master films are the only good ones, and that they increase in quality. Blade and Torch are my favorite puppets, 2 had the bizarre invisible man brain harversting storyline, and then three came along and was, strangely, a somewhat poignant exploration of how the puppets were borne out of the persecution of a French man during Nazi occupied Germany. I can't remember the actor who played Krause but I liked him a lot, he was cool inspiration for Blade.
Glad you liked The Ritual! I never hear anyone talk about it.

Not quite sure if no one talks about it, but I really love The Babadook (2014).
People did, then it kind of died down right away. Babadook is up there with The Witch and Hereditary as a trio of horror films that were mismarketed, audiences hated them upon release because they've been conditioned to expect the popcorn happy jump scare. Those three films are much deeper than that. They're all very good.

The Decent was great, surprised me how good it was when it came out.
The Ritual is one of my recent favs. Very unique and creepy movie.
I really liked the first Silent Hill movie. The second was meh for me.
Very mainstream but I really enjoyed the first Conjuring movie too. That scene where they "show it" shocked me. Didn't expect it at all haha.
Out of all listed in here, I don't think i've seen The Reef. I'll add that to my list, thanks!
Same here, I was in awe of The Descent. In 2005 it was probably the best, or one of the best, horror movies I'd seen in like a decade. It was so immensely creepy and claustrophobic, I was uncomfortable watching it before anything serious even happened. Great performances, good pacing, some good scares. Excellent horror movie.
More appreciation for The Ritual! Love it.

Jacob's Ladder. That is such an emotive movie within the horror genre, and it's connections to the realities of war is really gritty.
Also, Deathwatch, for similar reasons to above.
Jacob's Ladder is a mind ######### of a movie. You have no idea what's happening to the main character or why, you just know that it's terrifying. Those random, absolutely out of nowhere jumpscares ("Anybody in there? ANYBODY HOME!!?") keep you on the edge of your seat all the way til the end. One of the main inspirations for Silent Hill.

Tucker and Dale v Evil - Love that it was basically role reversal from normal horror movies.
Cabin in the Woods - Really wish there was a TV series that had all the different horror villains you see at the end.
Most Eli Roth movies - Cabin in the Woods is my favorite of them.
Fido - Different take on normal zombie movies - people using zombies as house keepers, pets, etc. More horror comedy than straight up horror.
Exorcism of Emily Rose - Loved how this was different from most other possession movies. Using court case to argue possession v medical explanation.
Kalifornia - Writer road tripping across the country to different serial killer sites with his girlfriend, to cut down on costs they have another couple join them not knowing one is a killer. I found out about this movie thanks to my sister that worked at a video store during the 90s.
Frailty - Father is convinced he's getting messages from God to kill demons pretending to be people and has his 2 young sons help him.
Club Dread - Feel like people slept on this because it was horror comedy instead of straight up comedy like Beerfest or Super Troopers.
Critters - Grew up on these movies, feel like this franchise and Ghoulies are ones people don't care for.
Ghoulies - Grew up on these, as a kid 2nd movie made me double check toilet before I'd sit down. 😂
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) - the tape wormy bits going into people's faces freaked me out so much as a kid.
The Crazies (2010) - Good remake that I think just came out at bad time so people forgot about it pretty quick. So many remakes at that time that were bad or just didn't live up to the originals.
1408 - Loved that for the most part was just John Cusack alone in a room going crazy.
Ready or Not - One of those movies where I got frustrated by all the dumb moves the woman was making but was so good.
The Babysitter - It got a sequel which is sign people liked it but I feel like I don't see anyone talking about it.
Trick R Treat/Krampus - These are ones I feel like should get more love than they do, they're so so good.
Wolf - calling it horror because Wolfman monster. It's great werewolf movie that is so underrated with Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer.
Dead Snow - I don't see many talk about this one and it's so good. Maybe it's because they don't speak the language this is filmed in and hate subtitles, which is wicked unfortunate.
Troll Hunter - think same case as Dead Snow, people don't want to watch something with subtitles. Also is one of those found footage type movies so that may also be why. I loved it though.
Let the Right One In - feel like the original was quickly forgotten thanks to English remake. Original was so so good, I love it. Also recommend the book, it's wicked good.
Popcorn - people being killed during horror movie marathon. It's great one and I remember loving the VHS cover when I would see it at the video store as a kid. 😂
Cutting Class - super cheesy 1980s slasher with Brad Pitt. I think it's a shame people let Brad Pitt forget this one, it's amazing. 😂
Session 9 - I remember seeing this when it first released because I'm from Massachusetts and growing up 30 minutes from Danvers State heard plenty of stories about it. My husband (at time was my boyfriend) when we were going to see it had told me about how his grandmother had worked there as a nurse for couple weeks before leaving and wouldn't talk about it at all - that was out of character since she loved telling stories, even if not good ones, about different places she worked as a nurse. Knowing history of Danvers State and having personal account like that added to creepiness of the movie. I find it funny that not long after they filmed Session 9 Danvers State was renovated into "high end" condos and apartments. Girl I knew in college that was from out of state rented apartment there not knowing the history of the place, she wasn't thrilled people filled her in AFTER she'd moved in. 😂
Excellent list. How could I have forgotten Ghoulies? The cover of that film, as well as Amityville 3D, scared little me in video stores back in the early 80s. Good times.
I myself would put Kalifornia in the thriller category but it's a great, great film. Excellent performances from Pitt and especially Juliette Lewis. Really strong movie, interesting premise and good twists.
Cutting Class Lol I saw that on cable back in '92 and was like "is that Brad Pitt? Why is that Brad Pitt?" XD
Troll Hunter. I was very surprised by how much I loved this movie. It treats the concept of Norwegian trolls as a very literal thing, the movie feels more like a legit documentary than a horror film. It's really, really good. A fascinating watch.
Frailty - another horror / thriller, and one of the best I've ever seen. Unmissable movie.
Yep, Danvers is, sadly, just an apartment complex now. They kept the majestic facade of the building but the unique bat shaped architecture and crazy complex tunnels (to the morgue, cemetery, etc.) are gone, as far as I know. Session 9 is a gem in that it's got good goosebump tension (and at least one amazing jumpscare) but also because it's a time capsule, a film recorded in a place that no longer exists.
- I would have to add a couple to my list which I forgot:
- Summer of '84. Goonies meets Stranger Things meets Rear Window. There's someone killing children in the neighborhood and a group of kids decides to start trailing the suspect, a local police officer. The movie's good, but it's the ending that will stay with you.
- Hush. A deaf woman spending the night alone in her wooded cabin is harassed by an armed intruder. Interesting concept, good execution.
- Everyone already talks about Don't Breathe and A Quiet Place, but they're great.
- I also very much enjoyed both Conjuring films, the first in particular.
- The Autopsy of Jane Doe. Taking place entirely in a morgue, the always reliable Brian Cox and his assistant try to determine the cause of death of a young, beautiful girl who was found buried and doesn't actually appear to be dead.
Thanks for the enthusiasm for this thread, you guys have given me lots of good new ideas for some solid-sounding horror films. Hopefully I've done the same in return!
-

I've been in green ranks for a few days and almost every game one of my fellow survivors is rank 1 or 2. Everyone else is right about in line with me except for that one red ranker. I don't know if this means that matchmaking is getting better or worse.

Hawt.
But honestly, I objectively feel that Dwight and Meg have the most useful perks. Most others (including Kate) do have at least one really good perk, but then also at least one if not two crappy ones. It's subjective though, so I won't be changing anyone's minds today.

Quite possibly Morrowind. I had the greatest expectations waiting a year for that game (having never played an Elder Scrolls title before) and when I finally got it it still managed to surpass them. Morrowind was one of those rare games that completely changed my understanding of the capacity that video games had to immerse the player in deep, fully realized worlds.
Other lifelong favorites include Final Fantasy IV, Maniac Mansion, The Sims 3, The Forest, Monstrum, GTA San Andreas, GTA V, Mount and Blade: Warband, plus way too many more to list.

She looks like she's yelling along to a song she likes at a concert or something, not screaming in terror at the hands that are, apparently, attempting to drag her to hell.

PC players with SSD boot their games much faster than 5 minutes. Like 1-2 minutes is a more realistic time. People with SSDs can crash their games in the loading screen to avoid map offerings (which also incurs no DC penalty) and be back on the game and queuing again before any of the other players in that match get their match cancelled and get sent back to main menu.
That's kind of disgusting, honestly...

It’s give and take. Sure we have many problems, but we also have more widespread acceptance. Reagan completely ignored AIDS and lgbtq people, built massive debt, and did things that massively widened wealth inequality.
He did increase the debt but he also reduced inflation. As for AIDS, you're correct that he should have done more but to fair the public at large should have as well. It wasn't really until after Freddie Mercury's death that people started to (slowly) take it seriously. And to be fair LGBQT was also still a somewhat uncommon concept among the mainstream, people of that culture were still fighting to be recognized as equal. It would take several more presidents to really understand that homosexuality was a part of nature, not a chosen act of debauchery, and laws made to start recognizing it as such.
That said, we probably shouldn't talk about real-world politics. Not that I'm blaming you, I'm the one who brought it up. Either way you're correct, every decade is give and take. For me, the 80s was a much more innocent, happy time to be alive. People didn't hate each other the way they do now.

Most people say the decade they grew up in is great. No offense, but the 80s had more than its fair share of problems. People have been pining for the “good old days” since ancient Greek times.
You're not wrong, no decade is perfect. But things were just so different. We didn't have the vicious political tribalism that we have today (again, the president won 97 percent of the vote, which will likely never happen again. The message from the government was one of peace, working together, hope. Individual personalities were allowed to shine. Personal fashion was allowed to run rampant. There was no 9/11. Mass shootings weren't a regular thing. Gangs and drug cartels weren't destroying entire cities. It was a decade of character, of self-expression. Things were just more carefree, more positive. It wasn't a perfect decade, but it's as perfect a decade as I've ever experienced.

You and I share tastes. screw all these "forests" we currently have. I want dense forests with as little humans touches as possible. Have the windows and pallets be embeded in the nature for windows and pallets in between trees and other natural phenomenon. some t-walls and then the killer shack. I would also love a hedge maze. and a cave/mine shaft. And I would also love a haunted mansion.
Awesome, I hadn't even thought of the "windows" being organic holes in the shrubbery. That's a great idea.
I used to live near a park that, while not being as deep and dense as a mountain forest or anything, had woods that were thick enough that a disembodied human torso was found there in the early 80s. The kind of woods where you can walk around and get lost, where the trees form actual walls and the canopy above your head blocks out the night sky. THAT'S the kind of forest I want to see. My cousin and I used to visit the one I'm describing all the time, in the middle of the night, all alone, and heard all kinds of weird sounds that we couldn't explain. There's a special vibe to creaking, ominous dark woods that this game, as great as its foresty maps are, has yet to replicate.

I did, however, get other benefits and I enjoyed the job regardless (well, aside from the aforementioned days of pure unrelenting stress, lol). You haven't lived until you've deleted a hundred spam posts from adbots, broken up three fights between your friends, been accused of favoritism and selling out, and told people that even though there's no specific rule against discussing Chris Benoit they still can't do it, all in the course of a single afternoon. XD

Thanks I really like his ugly sweater
I do too actually, I've never seen it before. Is it one of his standard cosmetics? Adam is one of the characters who's always interested me the least because his perks just seemed terrible to me. But now that I'm close to done with maxing out my original favorites and teaching their perks I'm moving on to upgrading others.

I really like that Adam. Beige colors on brown skin (or otherwise paired with brown colors) looks really good to me.

What I don't understand is that to deliberately disconnect, a player has to enter a menu and confirm the process. Why can't the game detect the difference between that and an unexpected disconnect?

I meant for not doing it quick enough. I've also been a moderator, albiet not for a professional company, I know how BS and unfair The Gods Of The Forum can get.
Yeah when it's the official forum of a major game publisher the higher-ups can be pretty anal about general practices and appearances. And in my case I was asked to join the mod team after I'd already been a member of the forum for a year so I had to moderate my own friends. It's definitely not the easiest job. High stress, little reward. But there's a pride that comes with the responsibility, knowing that you're trusted and respected enough to be given the job. If the company is reputable they won't do that for just anybody.
...Even if that's of little consequence when you're spending all day dealing with people yelling at you, your bosses, the developers, the game, the other players, and pretty much everything else that exists. XD
